Both you have to be good at both and have to work well together and Jimmie and Chad are a prefect example of that! Both. No matter how good the crew Chief is if the driver is not an excellent driver.
Go down the list of drivers that have crew chiefs that have won championships with other drivers, yet they can't win with this driver. Sometimes barely stay in the top 15. Why?
Combination of things. Also has to do with the particular organization. What do they do and what people do they have behind the scene? It is a total package. It is a mix of driver skill, crew chief and the entire pit crew. Crew Chief matters mostly. You can have the best driver in the world BUT if that car isn't setup right he isn't going to win anything. A combination of driver, car manufacturer, team owner, crew chief, pit crew, mechanics, spotter, timing and good old fashioned luck. combination...
driver, crew, crew chief, and LUCK!!! It takes both, just ask any driver OR crew chief that question and they will say it's because of the other. It's a true team effort that even goes beyond those two dynamics. Do you discredit Zippy because Smoke is an awesome driver or vice versa? How about Jeff and Ray? How about the King and Dale Inman? The list of examples can go on and on if you would like but what is your point? Both Jimmie and Chad are at the top of their craft and they are not going to fade anytime soon.

BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY CANT WAIT TILL 2009 BOYS!!!!!!!!!! Im ready for Fox but as far as cooter brown and larry the cable guy I can do without. Yeah I cant wait. I always liked D.W. and fox. They bring more excitement in watching. Wish D.W. could commentate all season. I know I am. Yes i am ready but it is to painful to think about it now ... the withdrawls have already started. Maybe i can sneak into the banquet or something. Oh ya Boogity, Boogity, Boogity all the way. Yes. When they start we will get to see the end of the races Can't wait to puke when I hear that jackarse say boogety boogety boogety. What a trailer court line. I am! been ready. it was even fun to see him during the track race preview show and hear him call what, about half the race... it'll be here sooner than i think, i hope...

So for the first time I'm actually looking forward to a little off time, and a while for me to cool off and forget about 08. I'm sure though once the holidays are past I'll be more than ready to see them roll into Daytona. Me Yes, I am. Nothing against ESPN, but Darrell, Mike, Larry, and FOX have been the best since they started in 2001 in my opinion. I know they are ready. Their last race so far was Dover in June. I can't wait! The 2009 Budweiser Shootout on February 9 will be on FOX, and it will be here before we know it. Bring it on, I can't wait.westjet online

So for the first time I'm actually looking forward to a little off time, and a while for me to cool off and forget about 08. I'm sure though once the holidays are past I'll be more than ready to see them roll into Daytona. Yeah I cant wait. I always liked D.W. and fox. They bring more excitement in watching. Thats how they clean the cr@p off the tires, & keep the heat in.. It cleans the tires & keeps them hot. Better known as " Scrubbing the Tires" when they are following the pace car. It's all about hot rubber. Hot rubber sticks to asphalt better than cold rubber. It's the same reason that drag racers do a burnout - more traction.
Swerving back and forth quickly puts heat in the tire. They are cleaning off the debris and rubber fragments off the tires. If they don't clean them, then they spin the rear tires on the next restart. This causes them to either get passed by a bunch of cars or a huge wreck.intelli sync lite

I still think Jimmie's got it all locked up though, bearing no.... "knock on wood" mechanical failures... I would get naked and run around in my yard nude. I would go to Mark Martin Ford and buy a Ford Fusion.

Seriously? I'd jump for joy, maybe even flip. But, I'd do the same for Jimmie, at this point. It's been a very interesting year in NASCAR, to say the least. If your talking about him winning the championship tomorrow, then i would be in a state of shock for about a week, but unfortunantly i don't think that's going to be the case.
