the 2 biggest tracks in nascar have lights,why not the others?
there has got to be some other reason. ...or at least cut a deal like in college football where the networks pay the cost for temporary lighting. I would think just for the ratings and keeping sponsors happy on Sunday compared to Monday that it would be worth it. Im sry you don't want to hear that it costs too much, but that simply just might be the reason. Another reason is probably because they schedule the races for the day and don't anticipate it going into the night, and since lights arent needed during the day, they dont put them in. It's not absolutely necessary to get a race in on the scheduled day. It can always be run the following day. As long as that is an option, there is no reason to put lights on a track because it might rain on race day every now and then. that is a good idea Sure it would be cool, 'Dega doesn't have lights it would be a blast running at that track under the lights. But at 'Dega they say its the cost. But I do think all tracks should have lights but then I love night racing.

not in an extended race, the Veyron's lack of fuel efficiency would do it in, but in a straight drag race, could it beat one of the top cars in NASCAR, assuming it has a top notch driver? The Bugatti would beat a NASCAR but not an NHRA Veyron - 1001bhp - 4160lb

Veyron would win, on a strip, oval or road course no contest. With the bristol gears the cup car would get a close 2nd.But you dont take a cup car to a dragrace. A NASCAR race car is not designed to take off from a dead-stop like on a drag strip. That's why they don't try to do the sitting start at Indy, they'd probably destroy the drive train. I'm not too familiar with the Veyron, so I couldn't tell you what would happen if they tried to drag race.
Upon further investigation on Wikipedia, the Veyron is the superior car. The idea is not to put the answer in the question.
Could a NASCAR beat a veyron on a lap round the Nurburgring? The only place a Nascar Cup car shines is turning left. The Veyron will kill a Cup car in a straight line and on a road course. As far as fuel efficiency goes, a Cup car gets about 5 to 6 mpg on a good day, so that won't hamper the Veyron at all. Top speed on a Veyron is limited to around 250 or so. Fastest speed I've heard about is around 240 for a Cup car at Talladega, but I'm sure it can go faster with different gearing. As far as race cars go, a Cup car has some of the narrowest slick racing tires you can find in the top levels of motorsports. It might level the playing field a bit if the Cup car can be fitted with a better tire/rim combination and maybe a 6 speed gearbox.

sometime back i too was like you...i wanted to get into national formula racing..but didint know how....the races in my country take place some 1500kms from my place...i searched the internet for information..but something reliable didnt come in my hand.
So i went there during a race day, i roamed about there..couldnt get whome to ask my queries...finally i got to have an chat with an member of organising comitee and he gave me his contact details and guded me to how things work and how to go about it.Now am Racing at nationals in formula category...and now am capable enough to guide guys into it.
You too should i think go to the place wher drag racing takes place and talk to people...thats the best way of getting info. I've seen some drag racing on tv shows such as Pinks- All Out and heard some about it and even researched a little bit, but I'm still not entirely sure how a lot of it works. I think that it looks like something I would like to try and get involved with, and I want to do it all legally and stuff at a formal track and such, but I've never been to a race and don't really know how drag racing operates. I'd kinda like to buy a used car to try racing with that wouldn't cost me a whole lot but would still work well for my purposes, but don't really know what kind would be best and what kind of requirements it would need to follow the rules at a drag track. And once i got it would i need to modify it with anything, and if so, what? Any help and information from people who drag race as a hobby or have been to drag tracks and are knowlegable about the subject is greatly appreciated!real estate and long island
