They moved the time of Indy.. They can still do it, but the threat of rain can delay the Indy race, and make the whole thing impossible.. No, but weather and starting in the back due to missing the driver meeting are two reasons drivers don't do double duty any more. If the 500 gets slowed by rain, then the driver doesn't get to finish and leaves his chance to win up to a relief driver. Robby Gordon, when he had to start in the back, crashed a couple times really early in the race, so he doesn't do it anymore. Also, the qualifying and practice days take up Nascar time. A lot of people think one of the series did something to prevent it. I think that is due to a few years ago there was a conflict with I think Stewart. He wanted to run the Indy but there was a manufacturer conflict with the car he could have drove at Indy. He decided not to run that year. After that, not related, the IRL decided to make it a later start time making it very difficult for a driver to pull it off and not really worth the reward to try and pull it off. no, the IRL just moved the start time of the indy 500 up from noon to 1PM, so now the logistics make it impossible for someone to run both well, i'm sure they could do it, but how would you expect the driver to get from one venue to the other. i doubt the driver could finish the indy, then fly to north carolina and do that race.
but more importantly...... how can a driver drive in NASCAR and INDY? nope they just moved the time to where they can"t do that anymoregangsta race ppc

The Carl Edwards wreck at 'Dega was more of a Holy $#!% moment for me.
The thing I remember from that Carl Long wreck you mentioned was that he said he looked up and could see people eating chicken in the grand stands. That wreck they had in Truck Series last week! That was a pretty Scary wreck!

Also there was Matt Kenseth's wreck at Talledega in Nationwide Series when he flipped so much!

because i went out to my rolling hunk of tin (aka 1987 ford ranger) and i came back and there was a caution. i said what loser caused it this time and then i saw KASEY WAS INVOLVED! :( i was pissed!! i didn't know what was going on! and it was really early in the race :( I'm gonna have to agree with Pink Chickens 88 and Firestorm on this one. When Mears flipped that was very strange and even stranger was that wreck at Watkins Glen. I never expected a wreck like that at a road course. --when i accidently banged into another car at Walmart in 2007. only the word i said wasn't 'heck'. oops. It was Carl Edwards wreck at Talladega this year. I didnt say what the heck my words were a little bit more grown up than that. I said "what the mother F@&k! "I hope Carl gets out of there ok. Thats what I said word for word. I never say "what the heck".. ooo Carl Long got a bad penalty today.

It takes skill and physical prowess and is competitive in nature.
Driving a car isn't a sport, driving a car at 185 mph with 42 other cars in such a close proximity for competition is. It takes a lot of skill to be in Nascar. Not only to win but to avoid collisions. It's a very exciting and fun sport to watch, as least to me. im NOT dissing NASCAR, i just dont understand how driving a car is considered a sport? well it ways 3400 lb and they go 3 or 4 wide inches apart for up to 600 miles(most of the time 500) and if they were to slam the gas pedal down the would spin out cause they have 850 horsepower its not a hugh sport but it is HUGE!! yep millions of fans and sold out most races. Its a sport. You came here thru "motorSPORTS".
Now don;'t forget your next question should be how do drivers go pee. I'm tired of trying to explain the whole sports argument to non fans. And it seems like this question gets asked way too often and of course is never meant as a diss. I do hope that somebody on here is able to explain it to you though. Asking a question IS dissing the sport. It takes more work then people think, and more knowledge then people think. The cars are not the same as we drive on the regular street, they have more power and speed. With the speed that they have going into the corner they have a lot more g-force on them that takes being fit to be able to stand. Also the cars, on the inside they dont have the gauges that we do that say how fast they are going so they have to know what the rpm's calculate to in order to know how fast they are going, they have to be able to take care of the heat gauges, and all the other ones. And that is just inside of the car. They have to be able to watch where they are going while they are keeping track of the people that are an inch next to them and the ones that are drafting behind them. They also have to be quick thinking and have quick reflexes to avoid the accidents.
Also dont forget the crew members, NASCAR is not just about the driving, you also have to take into consideration the pit crew that comes over the wall that changes a whole bunch of stuff on the cars like 4 tires, and wedge adjustments, and track bar adjustments and gas in 13 seconds. All of it takes skill to do just like any other sport takes skill. in every sport you are part of a team, it is a team effort to be the best, the driver in the car is only part of a team. what other sport can you watch 43 teams compete at the same time? with the longest season of any sport? Now if you can get football players to hit each other at 120-200 mph that would be exciting to see ha ha. You have never been to a race. TV cannot do Nascar justice for what a fan can witness in the stands. Being there is so much different. TV only lets you see and here what they want you to see. I.E. Dale Jr. I think anything that is done competitively, with a goal of winning, is a sport. If you have never heard of motor-sports, you need to get out more. it's more to it if u put it in simple form no sport is a sport throwing a ball then running in everyone to get to the person with the ball i mean football has alot of strategy and so does nascar its not like driving a street car 900 hp alot of g forces sometimes power steering goes out and you just cant quit 3,500 lb car sometimes the cooler for the helmet goes out ok no they dont run catch but its a sport to me

Be a Kyle Busch fan. He is an awesome driver and contends for the win every week. Most fans hate him ( I think this is because down deep they know he is the best driver in all of NASCAR)!!!

I mean first of all, your not giving them the full story. Every driver I like you like, and every driver I don't like you don't like. I mean seriously, in the beginning of the season, you loved Scott Speed, and he was in your top 3, but as soon as you found out I didn't like him, you stopped liking him. You thought Dale Jr was a hottie, but as soon as you found out that I didn't care for him, you stated calling him gay. Seriously, don't try and degrade me when your the problem. Just be yourself, then I won't get pissed off! Take it up with me before talking crap to this site!! Just be true to the driver that YOU like. In our house it gets fun on race day. I like Jeff Gordon, fiancee- Kasey Kahne, oldest son- Jeff Gordon, oldest daughter- Jimmie Johnson, Youngest son, Dale Jr., youngest daughter- too young to chose yet.
GO 24!!!! I would tell her how it makes you feel. If she still acts this way, I'd just watch by myself or find someone else to watch it with them. I usually watch races with my dad, and sometimes it gets pretty contentious. That is fun for us. However, you don't sound like you're having fun with this. cause every time i say something about nascar she always think that im trying to be someon im not. it ticks me off when she does that and she does it constantley I used to watch NASCAR with my old roommate, it was fun to pull for the opposite driver that he did. I have no clue what's going on between you two, and I have no clue what goes on in the female brain. But for the two of us, (two males) it was fun to have a friendly rivalry, so that there could be some trash talking come race day. Have fun! No reason to start a cat fight over anything.
