What do you think of ESPN's top 25 list?
May be...
John force ruins all creditably this list had.
Driving in a straight line is not racing. i won't pretend that i know them all, but john force is just fine on there (and i'm more of a nascar fan than nhra). i think "big daddy" don garlits should be ranked a little higher. and i don't see don "the snake" prudhomme, or any of nascar's "allison"s in there.
i don't know what their criteria were, so it's tough to say. i'd opt for more "pioneers" in the sport, than just those with lots of championships (where would top fuel be without garlits - nascar without junior johnson?)
and IMNSHO, driving in a straight line against a competitor, especially while literally sitting on a rocket, is racing. This is all time in all series:
25. Steve Kinser
24. Nigel Mansell
23. Don Garlits
22. Niki Lauda
21. Shirley Muldowney
20. Darrell Waltrip
19. Emerson Fittipaldi
18. Alain Prost
17. Bobby Unser
16. Tony Stewart
15. Al Unser
14. Cale Yarborough
13. Jackie Stewart
12. John Force
11. Rick Mears
10. Jeff Gordon
9. Juan Manuel Fangio
8. Jim Clark
7. David Pearson
6. Richard Petty
5. Ayrton Senna
4. Michael Schumacher
3. Dale Earnhardt
2. Mario Andretti
1. A.J. Foyt Dale should be first. John Force should be second. Scott Bloomquist needs to be on the list. Kinser needs to be higher. Jeff Gordon with 500+ sprint car wins and 81 NASCAR wins and is ranked 10th? Should be higher in my opinion. Tony Stewart in 16th should be higher. Basically they wanted to put a little bit of every series on the list so they would be politically correct. God for bid you hurt someone's feelings. Fine, Andretti should be first They are full of ****. No Colin Mcrae? Fittipaldi in 19th? ******* idiots. I have to agree with that "Rowdy's World" fella! John Force has got to be "on"(up higher) this list as well as "Snake"(I'm not talkin the bow legged kind). In my dictionary that I use, when I look up(best) race car driver there is a picture of Richard Petty and Dale Sr(RIP) on there with room for Jeff Gordon in there in the future.. This is my very biased Nascar opinion and proud of it.
