Their is actually a list rating them.. Tim Richmond, Buddy Baker, Dave Marcus, Harry Gant, Neil Bonnett, Glenn "Fireball" Roberts.. I don't want to go on.. I have seen all of these men drive, and one of them leave a race track dying.. But I never heard one of them whine.. Or their fans..
That Championship nonsense never meant anything, and it just shows how new to the sport, people are, if that's where your mind is.. Racing is about winning, and what is really strange, it ain't even about showing up.. It's about winning when you do show up.. David Pearson won over one hundred races.. Never running more than twenty one races in a year, at a time when others were running forty to fifty.. He ran a full season three times, and won three Championships.. Never had a teammate behind him to protect him, and never cheeted (Richard is guilty of both).. If David had run full seasons every year, you wouldn't remember Richard Petty's name, and even the great Dale Earnhardt would never have caught him.. If you ain't there to win, I don't care if you have twelve titles.. You better be there to race..
