come on dude look at the number every 3-4 races we won so richmond looks to bring us 18fans our 9th win. if jgr burnt their selves out so did rouch cause carl has 6 wins 2 less than kyle. just check the numbers and see how we do at richmond and you will understand I'm still figuring #18 will have his problems as all teams do. So far, they have been lucky to avoid the normal problems other teams do during a long season.
If he comes out #1 after the Chase (which is bs), I'll begrudge him and his team that they are for real. They're all just that good.
However..
Every team "wings it" to a certain degree.
It's part of the strategy, sometimes it works, sometimes it's a disastrous nightmare, you just never know.
They'll do fine in the chase.
I was felt that earlier in their they was burning theirselves(Kyle Busch) out. Kyle was winning just about every week and I thought the bad luck bug would eventually bite him but it hasn't. What JGR has done has been quite amazing. They are just that good. Go Hamlin and Logano. Just being careful due to being caught cheating. Yeah...but I don't want the 18 to win anymore.
Every team brings everything they can every week but if anyone is burning themselves out, it is the bubble guys. Pressure is what burns people out, not racing hard. No, I don't think they're "burning itself out". But, I have one question. How many of the races that JGR/Busch won did he start from the pole because of qualifying rain out?
*MOJO* I don't think that they are burning out, but the 99 team is coming on and has been solid all year. If not for the 100 point penalty earlier this year they would be even closer to the 18. Too bad for Hendrick, he got rid of the wrong driver! im not too sure i think its more about the probation 18 has with 99 but im sure as soon as the chase starts we will see more action out of the 18 No, JGR is just damn good. I think they just purposely toned it down in case NASCAR throws another dyno test. They know they don't need any power taken from them before the chase. I would like to say Mr. 18 will suck in the Chase but it simply won't happen Last 4 races here are the JGR guys finishes:
Kyle Busch--> 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 7th
Denny Hamlin--> 8th, 39th, 3rd, 3rd
Tony Stewart--> 2nd, 12th, 8th, 22nd
Not bad compared to earlier in the season. I think they are picking it up and getting better. or are they really just that good, and not "winging" it. burning itself out? laying low? worried about attracting attention? forgive me if i was dreaming (i probably did fall asleep during each of the races last week), but i'm pretty sure that was kyle busch in a jgr nationwide car leading 144 of 150 laps at "fontuckit' - and winning for the first time ever that anyone has won from the pole there. he became the second driver to have won in all three series there (mark martin is the other), and he set a new record for laps led while winning for the 18th time this year.
and wasn't that joey "sliced bread" logano getting his eighth top-10 in eleven starts in that other jgr car in his first race ever at "fontuckit?" the boy couldn't even find the restroom when he arrived at the track, but he found sixth place fairly easily. and didn't they both do it in "horsepower-handicapped" cars with a trackside team made up of mid-season replacements for seven of the crew guys, including both crew and car chiefs? and they did it in THE cars that should be most wary about having dyno'ed...
as for the cup race, wasn't that the jgr fedex car finishing third for the second week in a row? and wasn't that kyle right behind carl bringing home his 17th top-10 of the season? as for luck, yes, kyle has had luck fall his way many times this season, but as they often say "sometimes, you have to make your own luck." are they burnt out? considering they are all most likely going to make the chase, and kyle has had weeks to experiment and fall down but hasn't finished outside of the top ten - heck outside of the top two - but once in the past bunch of weeks, i don't think so. at least i seriously doubt it and hope not. are they that good? looks like it to me.

It depends on their contract with their team and sponsors for their main ride.
I would imagine the top drivers have something in their contract that prevents them from driving for another manufacturer or conflicting sponsor.
The younger guys probably don't. Seat time and development is most important for them. Gibbs knows Davis needs seat time and that is more important than demanding he drive a Toyota. I think Almindinger drove a Ganassi Dodge in Nationwide last year too. In a perfect world, a driver will drive the same make in all series. But, in the rare cases where a driver has the opportunity to drive another make, all it usually takes is permission from his primary team and some of the higher ups of his primary manufacturer. A recent example was Boris Said at Watkins Glen last month. The race was rained out, so his #60 Ford failed to make the race. Kyle Petty came to him to see if he wanted to take over the #45 Dodge for the race. Boris Said had to go get permission from the Ford guys in order for him to drive a Dodge in the race.
So, yes, I am sure JGR and Toyota have given Davis the go ahead, or else he wouldnt be driving for Randy Moss... You don't have to. it's something written into the various contracts that drivers and teams have - with each other, with the manufacturers, and with the sponsors. the boris said example above hits the nail on the head for someone of boris' stature. i don't know that marc davis would have such a restrictive portion of any contract he may have, but if he does, i'm sure joe and jd worked it out with toyota.
now someone like kyle or denny, it would probably take a little more work and incentive for a manufacturer to let them drive another manufacturer's car - they don't even like them driving anything but toyotas off the track, but again, there are provisions that can be made. tony stewart still had connections with chevy - both in ads (armor-all) and for the teams he owns. if i'm correct, kyle must have something similar because his late model team (kb motorsports) runs chevys.
rusty wallace was discussing this earlier with respect to david stremme. he was talking about how stremme will drive dodges for penske in cup, but will continue to drive chevys for him in the nationwide series. being bestest friends, i'm sure rusty and the captain will figure something out. even funnier was a bit i read in yet another tony stewart article, in the latest "men's journal," where tony wanted to go get a fish fillet sandwich at mcdonald's. he had to be careful not to be seen or photographed there because of some portion of his sponsorship/team agreement with subway. When a driver switches teams for races, (ie.Kyle driving for not only JGR, but Braun and Billy Ballew) aren't they supposed to be at least the same manufacturer?

You're the coolest chick ever! when your contract is up and the team doesnt renew you. you are a free agent just like other sports you can look for other teams and sign with any team and car make money talks hmmm idk really know how to answer that lol

yes, the weather made this race turn from a night race to a day race, i prefer night race for some reason, but i like to see it on Sunday since it's a great way to fill up my Sunday afternoon. i really don't care for NFL to watch it for a day. anyway the cup race will be on ESPN at 1PM EDT/12 PM CDT on Sunday. and the Nationwide race will be on at 6:30 PM EDT/5:30 PM CDT on ESPN2 later on that same day. and since the weather ruined ABC's night tomorrow, i bet they may have to dig up an 3-hr movie or find a way to air an bonus College Football game and label it as "ESPN on ABS's Saturday Night College Football" NASCAR video games for me, racing at Richmond of course. well right now im watching 'the best and worst of tred barta' lol. he's currently searching for a bear he shot with his bow. as far as espn goes im really not sure, the only time i really watch it is for nascar preraces and races and football pregame shows and games. Ok...I don't even have the TV on. I am listening to a CD of old rock and country mix that I made and have a pot of marmalade going on the stove. I'll be here, making marmalade, and listening to music.

I have Borat on DVR, I love that movie and I'm watching some political stuff. i don't know about you, but i don't know how many more times i can watch all the episodes of "shifting gears." don't get me wrong, i actually found the show to be very interesting and loved it the first time through, but watching it over and over every time there's a rain delay is becoming a bit much.
oh my, now they are showing the nationwide race again from "fontuckit," and although i liked the outcome, it was a dull race. i didn't watch the replay last weekend like i normally do for either race - why show the most boring race of the season again???

me, i think they should switch to some "back in the day" episodes for variety. I got some videos and am sitting here waiting for hanna to come through. It's going to be a rough weekend here in atlantic city

Great question and a great topic..but you need to take baby steps. Even people with unlimited funds have to take baby steps. Just look at Tracy Krohn (your b/f would know who he is if he watches ALMS) First rule, RACING IS NOT CHEAP!
First, join the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Work race weekends doing tech or flagging for a year before he does anything just to know how a race weekend works. (I'll get back to working races in a moment) Then after a year or two, get your novice license and go through an SCCA drivers school. You must complete a minimum amount of races in two years before he can progress. Then he can work his way up to getting a regional and National license. This is time consuming and will take a few years. There are no quick ways into the ALMS especially if you want to drive.
At the SCCA runoffs (the National Championships) a driver will get recognized but there are not any ALMS racing scouts like in other series or sports. You just have to get a decent racing record and bring LOTS of sponsorship $$$ to even have a prayer. ( $75,000 a weekend for a low tier GT-2 ride) If he is good, he may get invited back only to have to pay again!
SCCA is a great amature racing club that is nation wide. If he wants to be involved with ALMS, he needs to go to a SCCA workers school so he can work ALMS races. The ALMS uses SCCA workers for safety, a little tech, communications and corner workers. SCCA also has several pro series as well.

Okay, so here's the deal my boyfriend wants to start racing and we know that he is going to have to go to school and stuff but we live in San Antonio TX and we are clueless on how to start.. Whats a good School for him to go to i mean we are willing to travel for his school.. and not only that but after her finishes " racing school" where do we go from there? how do we get teams to notice him? We just need that little push in the right direction!!! Any info will help thank you guys :)
