1. Besides single cup races back in 1981 and 1994 in other car numbers, Kirk Shelmerdine drove the # 27 in two cup races in 2002, one cup race in 2005, and two cup races in 2006. He also ran 18 cup races in 2004 in the # 72.

2. Kyle Petty made his 700th cup start at Watkins Glen on August 15th, 2004.

3. Kurt Busch swept both Bristol cup races in 2003. He also won the first race there in 2002, 2004, and 2006. No one has swept both races in a single season since, but Matt Kenseth did win back-to-back fall races in 2005 and 2006 and Carl Edwards has won the last two fall races there.

4. Ward Burton finished second in the 1999 Las Vegas 400, behind his younger brother Jeff.
