Is NASCAR back on track? I heard it was a "down" year?

It's a down year for absolutely everything. I believe the worse is yet to come.
NASCAR needs to get their ticket prices back on track for anything to happen.
The chase format needs to reformulated/eliminated and a better point system put in place.
Bonus for pole qualifying etc..

because some people were having trouble making ends meet while traveling great distances to attend events. Surely the price of gas , now, must be helping. But I guess If you have 25000 in debt, it could be a dollar and you'd still have trouble keeping up.

The price of gas may be down, but that is little help when you have been laid off. With no job, everything is difficult.
