Who will win the Pepsi 300?

May be...

  • STEVE WALLACE

    GO REED SORENSON 43!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • joey
  • carl edwards
  • Kyle Busch.
  • Whoever guesses right will get the best answer.
  • Jimmy Johnson
  • Micheal McDowell
  • I gotta go with Morgan Shepherd. Man, he was runnin like 22nd there at about 170. My prerace pick was Johnny Chapman. Rats.
  • Since I wasn't the first to guess Kyle Busch, I'll say Kelly Bires
  • Gotta go with Keselowski
  • Joey Logano
  • Jason Leffler
  • Concrete Kes!dr samantha stear
  • Whose the best petty motorsports driver?(from best to worst)?

    May be...

  • 1) Kahne
    2) Sadler
    3) Allmindinger
    4) Sorenson
    5) King Richard Best All Time......
  • Currently, AJ Allmendinger is the best, but if you put everything together, it looks like this:

    1. Kasey Kahne
    2. Elliot Sadler
    3. AJ Allmendinger
    4. Reed Sorenson
  • 1. Kahne
    2. Allmendinger
    3. Sadler
    4. Sorenson

Reed hasn't really impressed me. Sadler has at least shown he can drive when he was in the #38 car a few years ago. Allmendinger is a great up-and-coming talent who is going to win a race or two in the future once he gets settled in. Kasey Kahne is still the best driver on this team. He currently has 6 top 20s in a row, a pair of top 10s, and is sitting in 10th in points. He always gets hot at some point in the season and wins a race or two.

Also, as long as the #44 has sponsorship, AJ will not be replacing Sadler or Sorenson and he is doing good enough right now where he will probably get enough sponsorship to run the full season.
  • i agree dillon you are right. Thanks we both have it in common

    Thanks dillon
  • Ahh no...not Elliot......I hope he goes to Penske next year. That guy needs good equipment is all.
    1. Kahne
    2. Sadler
    3. Allmendinger
    4. Sorenson

Though AJ and Reed are doing better this year Elliot is still better than they are. Look how Kyle won after getting away from Hendrick. I think Elliot can do the same thing. I don't think Elliot or PM are happy with each other. That makes a difference too.
  • 1- kahne
    2 allmindinger
    3-sorenson
    3 sadler

i think they should take elliot or reed (preferebly elliot) out of there car and put AJ in it.
  • 1) Kasey Kahne
    2) Elliott Sadler
    3) AJ Allmindinger
    4) Reed Sorenson
  • 1-kane
    2-allmindinger
    3-sorenson
    4-sadler/kyle petty
yes they should but sadler has ahell of a lawyer
  • Allmendinger
    Kahne
    Sadler
    Sorenson

I say get Reed out of the 43 and give it to a guy with a chance (Allmendinger)
  • 1 reed
    2 kasey
    3 aj
    4 elliott

reed has been very consistant no finishes below 36th and 9th at daytona kasey is in the top ten and aj has been doin way better then in red bull so that makes elliott the worst i dont think they should kick elliott out but that is my list of best to worst.

My favorite poem for Easter is:

See the land, her Easter keeping,
    Rises as her Maker rose.
Seeds, so long in darkness sleeping,
Burst at last from winter snows.
    Earth with heaven above rejoices...

  • Wow, I want to come to your house this Easter. We are having a full turkey dinner this year. It will sort of be like thanksgiving dinner without the pumpkin pie. Next Sunday we are having the ham dinner we would have had this week. Mom decided to push it back a week because my niece and nephew are getting confirmed on the 19th and we are also having Jonah baptized that day. Because we have family coming from quite a ways away we decided to combine everything and make a big day out of it.My brother, from South Dakota is going to be one of the sponsors.
    Jonah's FINE N 09!!!!
  • why ask about nascar FANS?
  • I'm going over to the fresh seafood market tomorrow and get some Mexican Seabass and some shrimp and put on the grill with a nice green salad, and a friend is going to bring over a key lime pie, after we all get home from the Angels beating the Red Sox like they did tonight.

R.I.P Nick Adenhart #34, Angels fans are gonna miss you.
  • We have an Italian brunch like with what we call a fretat. i know i misspelled it. It is made with homemade sausage and homemade cheese with eggs almost in an omelet style. We also fry dough and then the usual ham and and all the fixings. I love the fretat and we only have it once a year.

Happy Easter to my Nascar Nation family!
  • Beer, j/k. That would be race Sunday not Easter Sunday. We will have T bones just picked up 3 18oz T bones. Will also have baked potato's, beans, some steamed vegetables, and a cherry pie my wife will cook. After sun rise service me and my son will grill out and enjoy some family time since there is no race this weekend.

How do Formula 1 Racers brake?

    May be...

  • ABS is banned in F1 so entering a corner the drivers use cadence braking, they brake in a straight line until the wheel is just about to lock then release the pressure slightly then reapply pressure.

I used to play alot of driving games and thought I'd found a bug in the games where I kept braking a small amount around the corner and found it helped my lap times.I was surprised when I saw F1 drivers telemetry doing this.

And yes I know games are nothing like the real thing.
  • With their LEFT foot on a brake pedal.
  • There are many different techniques to braking. Trail braking is probably one of the most difficult braking techniques any driver can master. Trail braking is where the brakes are used beyond the entrance of a corner, and are gradually released up to the point of apex, or in some cases, through the apex of the corner. To understand how difficult that is to judge, I use the percentage method.

Imagine that all your tires have a limit in which they produce 100% of their traction. When a car enters a corner, the driver is typically using 100% of the tires traction to slow the car down. As the driver begins to rotate the wheel, he must also decrease the amount of brake input he is putting into the car because now a percentage of the tires grip is being use to move the car laterally. Releasing the brake to much takes the load of the front of the car, and can often times make the car understeer. At the same time, to much brake can lock the fronts, which also causes understeer. F1 runs more rearward brake than almost any other motor sport, so in most causes when you see a driver over brake into a corner, the car becomes unstable.

If you want to see the action first hand, watch the following video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtDRGNnTQ...

If you want to see trail braking at it's finest, check the following video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJNjDaZw5...
  • They move their left foot about half an inch.
  • Left footed braking, They brake hard to save time but in the same time they can't push it to avoid Brake locking and over-heating of the brakes.
Also a usual technique is trail braking where the driver gradually releases the brakes while gradually accelerating out of the corner which is valuable in the terms of lap times and to avoid under-steer.
The driver can adjust his braking balance as ratios front : back throughout the race depending on fuel loads and weather conditions.abyess
  • What does "lap time" in car racing mean?

    May be...

  • It is the time taken by the car to pass the start/finish line 2 successive times.

    --------------------------------------...
    http://f1gator.blogspot.com
  • the time taken by an object to reach a point on the path designated to it,the point usually being the point it started from, following the designated path.
  • the time it takes to do one circuit of the track
  • Lap time refers to the time it takes for the racers to finish the lap they are in, depending on the length of the course they are using(1/2 mile,1 mile)it can take anywhere from 2 min to 5 or more minutes per lap depending on the car/driver.
  • ummm.. the time it takes to do a lap.... or the time it takes for the fast red car to zoom around the big circle
  • It is the time period in which the driver crosses the Start/finish line twice.
Kimi Raikkonen lap around Spa (Notice the timer below)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M97ZqFLqh...
The lap is divided into three sectors so Different times can be compared throughout the lap and make it easier for the driver and the team to know where do they lose and gain time.
Each lap the driver does around the circuit is recorded and compared officially (Fastest lap in race, Pole position in qualify) except:
1- First lap of the race
2- In-lap The lap in which the driver enters the pits.
3- Out-lap The lap in which the driver leaves the pits.
4- A lap on which the driver had cut the track.
All of them are recorded but not officially considered.antler-laptop-cases

The McLaren team will DIE in 2009?

    May be...

  • No. Give them a year of R&D and they will return to the front of the grid.

Can't wait for the court to rule against or for the differ just so we can even up the grid. Brawn will not be so dominate once the rest of the field starts running diffusers too!
  • Yes, mclaren has been going down this year but i dont think they will be banned from f1. They will just have to try and stop cheating.
  • Anyone got Aspirin?
This question is a little bit early, How about you try again after we hear what the WMSC decide, although 99% you will turn on your TV on 19th April to see the Silver and Red car driven by the usual lemon! Sorry to disappoint you.
  • I don't think they will ban Mclaren, It isn't always about the rules. They need Mclaren and their golden boy (Hamilton) for publicity and commercial issues. The FIA people wants more fans and in turn more sponsors and more as long as Hamilton do that, they will keep him on track.

    http://f1trivia.blogspot.com
  • McLaren won't be going anywhere. Guess who Brawn GP is getting technical aid from? Yeah, McLaren-Mercedes.

Plus, they spend more on F1 competition than most teams. They might be fined, say $10 million, but that's nothing to them when their budget is something like half a billion.

It sounds to me that you just can't take an Anglo-African driver being successful. We aren't in the 1960s- white people aren't superior, so let's stop thinking that. It's people like you that give humanity little hope for the future.
  • Relax, McLaren's not going anywhere for a while. And let's not pretend that Schumacher wouldn't have done something similar to what Hamilton did this weekend.
  • Well I hate McLaren as well but I think your predictions are a little overstated. If they leave, what will talk about? :)
  • Not exactly the perfect start and I pretty much dout Lewis will leave McLaren or F1 at all. He's still got a lot of winning to go yet.. remember he's still 'young'. And WTF's this about;

"As for Lewis, he should just go start his boy-girl band with his girlfriend Nicole...I dunno if she would want to be with a liar haha..." ?
  • Yes, the great McLaren team will die this season. A bad ending for a nice tale...Bruce McLaren's ghost must be in eternal pain.

They all a bunch of liars. Ron Dennis has always been a sneaky devious devil who has been covering up his tracks quiet well all these years. Seems they got a nice bunch of liars and misfits on the top of their ranks.

And Hamilton the corporate mind-controlled driver who has no balls to fight back!

They tried to cheat not only for 1 point but also the million dollars that goes along that point so it is major fraud!

I hope the WMSC ban these liars for this entire season...in fact I think McLaren should be BANNED FOREVER from Formula One.

As for Lewis, he should just go start his boy-girl band with his girlfriend Nicole...I dunno if she would want to be with a liar haha...

Besides he already got his F1 title. And he wiill always be a liar for the rest of his life. All that childhood preparation to end like this is a big shame.
  • Hey Shark, thanks for your enlightening explanations but I dont think that Mclaren will die at all, they might just get another fine but maybe its $200 Million and not $100 million.

As for Lewis, rumours has it he will leave the team AND F1 ( though I doubt it very very much ) and he should stay and ride out the storm anyway, rebuild his reputation since F1 is a sport full of and controlled by liars anyway and Lewis just happens to have unfortunately been misled into the liar rianks, I do wish he had consulted his father before opening his blinking mouth or just relied on his "own gut feelings", its this sort of thing that his dad has been trying so hard to protect him from.

Where theres billion dollar fortunes at stake, theres always gonna be fighting and many many lies ( call it corruption ). Dont tell me that your national football league does not have a single liar in the sport and everyone is SO honest. I very much doubt it. F1 is no different just some get caught at it ( lying ) and others dont.4705 ipaq
  • What do you think a nascar engine's volumetric efficiency looks like?

    May be...

  • Volumetric efficiency, and peanuts??
As in, if Mr Paper shredder has a peanut size brain,
why does he have a head with the volume of a bowling ball to contain it??
That doesn't doesn't sound very volumetrically efficient to me, what do you think??

  • Volumetric Efficiency 101
    by Brian Barnhill

This can actually be a quite tricky subject, mostly due to confusion and differing opinions among many people. Volumetric efficiency (VE) is typically defined as "the actual amount of air being pumped by the engine as compared to its theoretical maximum."

Therefore, since NASCAR does not own the engines, nor produce them. There is no Volumetric efficiency in "NASCAR's engines". Now the major engine builders might have actual numbers, but who here really thinks they would let that prprietary information out?

And as far as the peanuts, YOU SO CRAZY!!!!!

  • Will HMS replace Mark Martin if it becomes mathematically impossible for him to make the chase?

    May be...

  • You don't just kick Mark Martin out of his ride and replace him with somebody else. He's Mark Martin!!! You just don't do that to a veteran driver like Mark. He will race the entire season. Brad Keselowski will get time on the track in the #25 and #09 cars.
  • no i expect mark to drive the 5 car next year
  • I'm a big Mark Martin fan! I think he is the best driver to have never won a championship. He stated at the end of the 08 season that he was going to give the championship one more try.
He's 18th in points, 93 points back of 12th . It's early yet and I sure hope he makes it! But if the Chase gets out of his reach do you look for him to be replaced with whoever is going to drive the five car in 2010? Brad Keselowski for an example.
  • nope
  • Mark has a contract.. If that happened nobody would ever drive for Hendrick again..
And unless he wins the title this year, you can expect to see Mark back for 2010..
You'd probably see him back next year, even if he does win the title..
  • I think they'd only replace him if he wanted out. Hendrick's happy to have Mark in his car, chase or no.
But no worries; Mark's going to make the chase. He moved up 9 spots this week. : )
  • I doubt it. Mark is a good driver. The reason he is behind in points is because of equipment failure ... not driver's fault.
  • Doesn't Mark's contract run thru 2010? Yep, I think so. I don't see him being replaced until he decides to quit...again!

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • No, Mark will race the entire championship, regardless of if he is in the chase or not. Mark is a legend and i hope he does win this year.
  • If this does happen, HMS is violating to contract, which may involve some lawsuits..
  • no way! i think mark will be in the top 10-12 soon. give him 4 races and he will be in 9th or 10th.mark and brad k are going to share the #5 in 2010.
  • No, I don't think there is any way possible that he doesn't run that car fulltime in 2010, and this year ofcourse. He has been one of the fastest cars week in, and week out.. They just don't have the finishes to show for it. It's hard for a driver when you have blown motors, blown tires, etc etc.. Bad luck is a hard thing to overcome, but they are doing it. It will be a long, hard run to make the CHASE, but if there is anyone I'd want to drive my car from behind, he'd be in the top 3.
  • That makes no sense. No.
  • I highly doubt that
  • mark martin sing full time 09 for hms
    and part time in 2010
  • No they won't.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
  • Hendrick will be scratching his head when Martin finishes better than E. Jr. at the end of this season. I'd replace 88 driver.
  • no they will not they will keep him in i dont think they will make the same mistake joe gibbs made if they think keselowsk is ready he will run the limited schedule in 2010
  • No i would expect mark to be right back their next year in that 5 but if not they should bring their development driver into the number 5.
  • They would never do that because they want him to get as much seat time as possible in the COT before next season.
  • don't count him out anything is possible if he could win a race or two hell have a chance at it or at least stay in the top 5 nobody can replace Mark Martin.
  • As a Martin fan myself, I can recall a few years, I think it was 2005, where Mark looked like he might miss the chase, but he put together 6 top 10 finishes and 4 top 5's in 8 races to secure a spot, so I expect no less from him this year. He'll make it. Winning the Cup, on the other hand, now that's a horse of a different color.
  • No, I don't think so. In fact, I believe Mark might even race full-time in 2010. I'm sure winning the championship would be great for him, but I think the main reason why he came back full-time was because he is still competitive.
  • Rick would never pull the rug out from Mark's feet regardless of where he is in the standings, not this year anyway! I really feel that Mark WILL make the chase. He has been fast at all the races so far but 2 blown engines and a cut tire have not allowed him to get the finishes he should have. He's the 2nd best driver to never win a championship in my opinion. Junior Johnson was a much better driver than most will ever know. He never ran a full schedule and thus never had a real shot at winning the championship but his 50 wins in 313 races places him 7th on the all time winning percentage list. Junior's 50 cup series wins also has him tied for 10th, with Ned Jarrett, on the all time wins list.

If you could build a track.........?

    May be...

  • I'd like to see a half mile concrete track with low banking.

Just as long as it's not progressively banked, I'm gonna be pretty happy. I'm a firm believer that is ruining the art of passing in the sport.
  • In the east coast area.

    New Jersey preferrably.

A three mile high banked paperclip.

    Asphalt pavement.
  • Where would it be? how long? dirt concrete asphalt, you get the picture
  • I would build a 3.5 mile track. It would be a combination of Pocono and Sears Point. I would have it built in Ontario Canada so Canadians could enjoy NASCAR too.
  • Louisville, Ky because thats where I live! wouldnt have to travel far! asphalt superspeedway, 3 miles because theres not that one that long!! no restrictor plate!
  • asphalt 2 mile round track rome new york
  • 2.7 Mile ,asphalt, super speedway in the Arklatex area.

    H E N D R I C K~M O T O R S P O R T S~R U L E S ! ! ! ! !
  • It would be in Houston, TX. It would be a 2 mile asphalt super speedway.
  • San Antonio TX
  • If wishes were horses...

O.K. Multipurpose course with lots of elevation change. Think Nurburgring Nordschleife with Daytona in the infield. I would build it in the Middlesex Fells currently a 3000 acre nature preserve within 10 miles of Boston, MA, USA because there are major highways on two sides and easy access to spectators and participants, also it is 30 minutes from my home.

There would be several optional rally and motocross variants and the camping/RV set-up would have all typical supplies (food, fuel, beer, etc.) available on-site so that once parked there would be no need to leave the facility until an event has concluded.
  • It would be in Pittsburgh, PA. .5 mile concrete track.
  • Greensburo or high point North Carolina
  • Well I don't think the cars could handle a dirt track but that would be neat. I would like to see a 0.5mile short track in Maine. If the cars could handle it I would like dirt but other wise asphalt. Also anywhere from 20-30 degrees of banking (if asphalt) in the corners.
  • houston texas trough downtown
  • Like I said in one of my ancient posts, it'll be a point-to-point race across the Great Wall of China. Retrofit the walls with the proper barriers and fencing, and renovate the towers to allow cars to race in them. And pave the surface with asphalt, with some concrete thrown in there somewhere.

But some of the fencing and walls will be missing of course, so if a driver makes a slip up, he'll plummet down into the awaiting trees below!

    *Rubbing hands together* MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
  • I almost agree with Chad B, but a little more like in Beaumont Texas. I hate the 6 hour trip to Ft Worth every year. Beaumont could use the economy boost too.
  • In Louisiana. It's a great spot for a big track. At least 2 miles, def. a restrictor plate track w/ banking like Daytona
  • Allentown, PA

  • hahaha woo nascar.
  • I'll narrow down your search and call him gay myself so you can cuss me out....he's gay, like...Richard Simmons gay.
  • What if Dale Jr. is gay? Would you think less of him? Would his preference be really anyone's business but his own? Perhaps that is the bigger and better question for you to ponder, hmmm?
  • Well, do you feel better now?

Why is everybody bad mouthing Dale Jr?He's a good racer just not as good as his father at this point.?

    May be...

  • i don't think he really gets bad mouthed. he is a good driver but greatness has eluded him this far. i think what irks people is that he is constantly thrown in our face everyday throughout the week and dozens of times on sunday, even when he is running poorly. he is a tolerable guy but give me coverage of the people who actually win or run in the top 5.
  • Ok, time to turn on the wayback machine...

Does the name Petty ring a bell people!!!!

I agree that he is a good racer, just not up to his fathers level YET!
  • because he needs to win, that's what fans expect.
  • Because they're frustrated that they still live with their parents, and have to obide by their rules.
  • Cause he is a bum.
  • at this point nothing, he won't ever be as good as his father
  • Trolls need something to do! No real Jr fan would ever begin to think that Dale jr would be as good as his father (certainly not me) but the bashers feed on that.

    Hout bout them Heels!!
  • I don't bad mouth him, everybody that has his crap on just don't wanna buy new.
  • IMO, it's because he is the son of the legendary Intimidator and has yet to live up to his father's legacy.
  • Not everyone bashes Junior. His true fans stand behind him and know the person Junior really is. Junior has said many times he doesn't want to be like his Dad. Senior was a legend and that's a awfully big expectation to put on someone who is a different person. Juniors name is a big media attention getter. His life is like living in an aquarium...the whole world watches every move he makes. His name, his good looks and personality are a target for merchandisers. He is very popular and that's what makes him a target. If one would look at his record and put everything else aside, Junior is holding his own and his record speaks for itself. He is very consistent and has a great record. Others just choose to overlook the facts. In reality he is a good racer and has a great business mind. He's right where he wants to be & people need to realize that Junior is not his Dad and doesn't want to be.

Every driver makes mistakes but it's a whole different thing when it's Junior. To the other fans, their driver is perfect and makes no mistakes. Sorry, it doesn't happen that way. Another thing, it's the fans who vote the most popular driver, must be some reason. As far as rivalries, they're the same in any sport. I back Junior 100% and I do not bash other drivers even if I don't care for them. That's called good sportsmanship.
  • Good drivers don't miss their pit stall on an empty pit road.
  • @ gofyours...: Junior did not miss his pit stall, he said in an interview that he didn't want to be boxed in his pit stall or have the car shut off. You really need to get your facts straight.

@ the asker of the question: His name is Earnhardt, there for he is going to be talked about wether it be good or bad. • He's a decent racer. But he's 4th best on his own team and would be mid-pack in any of the other big teams (Roush, RCR). His name got him all the attention, but his driving abilities could sure improve. How many pit road mistakes has he made in the past month? It's got to be near a half-dozen. Champions make those mistakes once or twice a season, not once or twice a race.
  • Um, because his fans insist on calling the best driver in NASCAR?
Seriously, I have been to races where the Jr. fans have threatened me because I simply pointed out that he has not won a championship and has won so few races.

They act like I insulted their mother. Sheesh. I know they insult my driver, but what can really be said about the winningest active driver with 4 championships?palm comparisons

  • Why hasn't Jr. won a championship yet?

    May be...

  • wich jr?
  • Dale Jr. is a good driver but it takes a huge amount of consistency to win the Sprint cup. Just think about it. He had to beat.....
    1. Jeff Gordon 2000-
    2. Jimmie Johnson 2002-
    3. Kyle Busch 2005-
    4. Mark Martin 2000-
    5. Matt Kenseth 2000-
    6. Kurt Busch 2001-
    7. Dale Jarrett 2000-
    8. Carl Edwards 2005-
    9. HMS 2000-
    10. Roush Racing 2000-
And anybody else that is great.
Also he hasent had the best crew cheif.
Tony Eury Sr. had Jr. from 2000-2004. Jr. won the DAYTONA 500 in 2004 and won 7 races and a 3rd place in points. Tony Jr. steps in and puts jr. 19th in points and from there he sucked. Tony Jr.'s fault and Dale Jr is almost consistent enough but not quite.
  • It is not up to the driver to win the championship. It takes the pit crew, crew chief, and spotter, plus the drivers and all other members of the team. It takes a team to win the championship, just like Lowe's Racing Team.
  • Because he hasn't been good enough to win one. Simple as that.
  • He hasn't won a championship in Cup because he's not as consistent as other drivers. Bobby Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, and Jimmie Johnson all won championships since Jr. got to Cup because they consistently finished well and won races. I think Jr. should let his crew chief make the calls on the adjustments, not him, and they may have better results. Focusing a little more might help too. But, who really knows. Maybe one day he will win one, but who's to say? People thought Mark Martin would have won a championship by now...
  • If he is as great as all of his fans say, why has he not won a championship yet? Jimmy Johnson came to Cup after Jr. yet Jimmy has, I think doubled Jr's win total and won 3 championships.

Lets not use the idiotic "equipment" argument. If you use that argument then you acknowledge that DEI has crap equipment.

So can the Jr. fans at least admit that Jr. is just not that good? Or will they continue to scream "Jr. is the best, man"?

LOL I remember when Kenseth and Jr came up to CUp the same year. I heard, " Oh, Jr. will own Kenseth, just like he did in Busch" LOL, great prediction, don't you think?

It is ok Jr. fans. Kyle fans were in the same place when Richard retired. They thought Kyle would dominate like his dad, so I guess we really can say:

    Kyle = Jr.

Both is the son of a 7 time champion that really has not done anything.
  • IMO, I think a lot of people compared him too much to his father. The standards were always set way too high for him. He'll never be at that level of greatness. He's a good driver, but not one of the best. I don't see him winning a championship anytime soon, probably none at all. Just my opinion though! We will see....
  • Because there are so many drivers out there better then he is.
Get over it Jr fans, he sucks.
  • Junior hasn't won a Championship yet, because he hasn't. Simple.
Should I throw a couple "LOLs" in there for you, Buddy...
  • Ha ha ha ha, Jr. is just mediocre at his best.
  • Being a champion and earning a championship is like an equation. It takes many factors for it to come alive and to be fulfilled.

    Talent + good crew chief/crew + team effort/confidence + some luck = championships.

Jimmie Johnson has had each of the 3 components the last 3 years...Jeff Gordon has had it when he won his 4..

    Every driver needs those..

Jr. has vast/average talent BUT not a good crew chief... what I mean is the connection between the two are not that good.. again and again i repeat.. family is not good together when it comes to WORK/sports.. bottom line...

Team effort and confidence is okay.. and the luck.. well lets just say Jr. is not that very lucky...

I believe that is why Jr.. however, may have had parts of that equation in recent years, it wasn't complete, for one, and it was enough for another.. and the last 2 years, there's been very little..
  • jr fans are hung up on the days when jr was actually good at what he does.
those days are gone, replaced by a celebrity rather than a racer.
a guy content on finishing every race 10th with his cousin on the box, rather than win with someone else.
a guy who has an ego so big, it's amazing he can put his helmet on every sunday.
a guy who whined to rick hendrick that he felt like people were conspiring against him.
a guy who threatens to beat his crew with a hammer.
a guy who puts a towel over his head, rather than face the press.
a guy who sulks when things don't go his way.
drivers who win busch championships rarely go on to win a cup championship.
bobby labonte is the only exception.
he hasn't won, because he goes out there on sunday to collect a paycheck, rather than win the race.
    it's a fact.
jr. fans are blinded by their loyalty, and they throw temper tantrums when people call out their beloved jr.
    but it's FACT!
  • Cause he's a no-talent bum?
  • because his performance isnt really that balanced (atleast this year it isnt). he started out pretty bad then he had a 10th, 11th, and 8th place finish or mabe 11 10 8 but anyway he started to straighten things out and then yesterday.......ugh i wasnt able to catch the race and after watching the video's of him on nascar.com today im pretty sure i didnt miss anything exciting except gordon getting his first win at texas.
  • He's just not focused enough. His head clearly is not in the game and I'm not so sure his heart is anymore either. Facts are facts and the fact is that when his daddy died, so did Jr.
  • Let's give credit where credit is due:

I admire Jr for putting up with everybodys crap! When the time is right, he will be a champion. If you want to mention drivers who haven't won, what about Kasey Kane, Denny Hamlin, David Stremme, David Ragan, Mark Martin (I really love this guy), David Reutimann, Casey Mears, Robby Gordon, just to name a few. Why isn't everybody concerned about them not winning a championship?

EDIT: Someone a while back summed it up like this: This is racing. This is called racing. Some years work for some drivers and not for others. That's what the sport is all about.
  • You're right slither...
Jr may have won more races than Kyle but that doesn't make him a champion, if it did there would be so many champions out there that it would lose it's meaning. Jr can't even keep up with the cup drivers in the Nationwide races. I think the biggest difference between Kyle Petty and Jr is, Kyle is not pretentious.
  • Everyone but you should know by now.,not Jr's fault, it's the CREW CHIEF..
  • Don't be stupid.. If you just want a forum to say you don't like Jr, just say it.. Two former Champions had fewer wins, than Jr did, until very recently.. The criteria isn't the same, from year, to year.. Mark Martin, in one of his most recent close calls with the Championship, accumulated enough points to have won the title in any one of the ten years before, or after.. With a commanding lead.. Didn't get him the title in that year.. Bill Elliott won eleven races in 1985, but DW won the title with only two wins.. It means something, but not as much as they try to make out of it these days.. Mark Martin will be in the Hall of Fame anyway.. Jr may not be, and Kyle may not be, but Mark is a shoe in.. So is Jeff, and Jimmie is workin' on it.. BTW: Dale said that Matt is better than Jr.. Even Jr knows that..
Where do you even compare Kyle Petty to Jr.. In 04 Jr won more races than Kyle did in more than twenty years.. I don't think Kyle was in the top ten in points, ever.. Where do you pick up fairytales like that.. They are as bogus, as you are..
  • You mean DEI didn't have crap equipment? Hell they've only had 1 win as a company since 2006. Let's not forget 2007, 13 blown engines, including 3 out of 4(and an RCR car using the same engine as well) in one race and one that didn't even last 15 laps at California. Even now, as EGR, the 42's using basically old Ganassi cars and the 1 and 8 are using old DEI cars, Montoya's 14th in points, of the 2 guys that were at DEI last season, Truex is the highest at 25th, not good. While we're at it let's compare DEI and RCR, whose engines come from the same shop, Bowyer and Burton have more wins combined than DEI since 2006. Or how about this one, until DEI absorbed Ginn, JR Motorsports had more advanced testing equipment(7-post shaker, etc) for a Nationwide car, and 3 local late-models than DEI did for 3 Cup cars.
  • He.s not a good driver Periodcoke double point reward
  • Do you think Ferrari will get it together?

    May be...

  • i think it is too early to say because we have only seen the cars on 2 tracks and plus they have a lot of money compared to the other teams, so they probably will ( although i hope not because i am a MClaren supporter)
  • They need to do 2 things

First, work on the god damn double or triple diffuser. If the 3 diffuser teams can get away with it, then hell all 7 other teams should develop their own version of diffuser. As flavio said, a well developed illegal diffuser can allow up to 30-40% extra downforce. If the FIA doesn't outlaw them, then all teams should have it as well.

Till then, the team should remain calm and do damage limitation. Its still early of the season, I don't understand why they have to resort to extreme tactics. They should be collecting whatever points they can at this early stage

Forget all the risk taking. Play it safe and get whatever points possible. Kimi was doing well at P5 until someone had a brilliant idea of sending him out on full wets. We don't need such extreme risk, not at this point.
  • They haven't been doing too well in the past 2 Grand Prix, I mean Kimi and Massa are great drivers, is it too early to tell etc? Your thoughts??
  • Ferrari's problem is KERS. The F60 has been described as a 'sensitive' car and it is suspected that the enforced weight distribution of the 40kg KERS battery may also be compromising its handling. What's more, it was reported in Australia, where both Ferraris had to pit ahead of schedule after starting the race on soft tyres, that the weight of the KERS device may have been the reason why their rubber grained far quicker than expected. The team also made 2 wrong decisions at Malaysia which resulted in neither of the drivers scoring any points.
  • You would think that after last year's errors they would have stepped up their game by now but clearly they are still not taking things seriously. None of this would have happened under Todt.xbox 360 on computer monitor

    Do any drivers have tattoos?

    May be...

  • I'm pretty sure this was asked before, but I'm still curious :).

And if your favorite driver did have a tattoo, what would it be? Or what would you suggest?
  • i often wondered that myself. if anyone has tattoos.
i do not think Elliot has one but being married now and in a different mind set who knows if he will change his mind. I could see him placing his kids names somewhere.
  • i aint seen none but i heard that cale gale has a confederate flag on his left arm but ive never seen it so i aint sure.

  • Who else would like to see Kyle Busch suspended?

    May be...

  • I personally know the Busch kids since they were in high school Through my cousin Brendan. Kyle never went to all of the School parties, He just wanted to be the best at going fast, this is all he talked about and did. I really like the kid, he has awesome talent, but it does seem like when he gets into trouble early in a race, or the rides not set up perfect he drives a little unprofessional. If he keeps it up I might agree with a suspension, but I can tell you this, if he continues to not have the perfect ride he will get pissed and the aggressive driving will continue. Like I said I really like the kid!
  • He is a piece of SH@@! Dosen't know how to drive and when he is behind he wreck people. I hate him.
  • cut the man a break. he isn't the one that put the speedy dry on the track. you probably wouldn't be complaining if he had bumped robby gordon instead.
  • ...Think it is time to watch him and about 20 other drivers,There has been more bumping this year that is questionable at least.
Suspend him,no.Park him after a warning yes,but the same would have to be done for all the field and not just one driver.
True that he was a couple of laps down and should have used better judgment, but in the 60's and 70's that sort of bump would have not even been noticed.
  • Kyle Busch, once again, ran his car, recklessly into a corner and bounced off of Dale Jr. I did a search and discovered that there are many, many threads of people complaining about Kyle Busch being responsible for wrecking other drivers. (Jr. was in the lead when Busch hit him, yet again.) I wish NASCAR would wake up and park the idiot. Granted, he is talented, but he is so disrespectful and seems to consistently make stupid decisions. I say park him. What do you think?
  • Park Him, For Good
  • Did I ever tell y'all a story about a Busch race that Jr was in, and Dale Earnhardt was his spotter.. It seems Jr was in eleventh place, and doggin' Jimmy Spencer's bumper pretty hard, over tenth.. Dale gets on the the radio to Jr, and says, "son..... There are two guys out there you just don't do that to, and one of them is Jimmy Spencer...... *pause* And I don't have ta tell ya' who the other one is".... I am a very laid back guy.. You will not want me to even suspect, that you want to get personal on a race course.. That is what should govern the way you race me..
  • Kyle got loose while driving hard to get one of his laps back. I'm sure Jr. understands that since that's the reason he said he was driving aggressively in Daytona this year.

It was just hard racing, and that kind of stuff happens to every driver.
  • I disagree.
  • Granted I dont really care for him too much, but he can drive. And wow was i mad when that happened today. But it is racing, got to deal with it.

I think Kyle is on a little downfall in the sprint cup. He may dominate the nationwide, but the passed 2 races, he hasnt had a very good day.
I hope it continues. *(ss my bad.)

But to answer the ?, No he shouldnt get suspended.
  • Kyle probably just hits him because he is in the way, Jr has no talent and Kyle has lots of talent. All the drivers out there would probably like to hit him, but are probably just afraid of the backlash they would receive because Jr.'s undeserved popularity.Let the thumbs down begin.
  • By that logic, Junior shouldn't even have been in his way--he should have been suspended for his involvement in what happened at Talladega where at best both he and Vickers were disrespectful and reckless--and they actually ruined many other teams' cars.

Kyle got a little loose trying to get one of his laps back, possibly on the stay-dry still on the track, and jumped up a bit. But he managed to control it quickly enough to not take either of them out of race.

As for "stupid decisions," should Junior have been suspended or banned for life for doing something like spinning himself out on purpose in front of traffic that was about to lap him? He did a couple of years ago at Bristol. Worse yet, he then went on and talked about it on the radio, where NASCAR officials heard him. They did punish him then, but whatever the punishment was, it should have been harsher--just for the fact that he went on his radio to talk about it.

And who gives a crap about "many, many threads of people complaining." There will ALWAYS be many people complaining about any topic you can dream up, and you have just added to the mix.
  • yes nascar park him
  • All the people who hate him will agree with you.

But for those who know the history NASCAR..they'd know that's all just a part of racing.
  • Damn you Jr fans, stop your whining and moaning and complaining and crying! I mean damn!
  • Would I like to see Kyle parked for driving too hard ? Nope. I think all drivers should go balls out every lap, racing would be more exciting.

Would I like to see Dale Jr. stuff Kyle, firewall deep into the S.A.F.E.R. barrier ? YOUR GOD**** RIGHT I WOULD !!!!
  • Kyle's car was loose, he had no control over it. Sorry buddy, but even if Kyle didn't hit him, I don't think Jr. would have won. I have absolutely nothing against Jr, but I'm sick to death of people not looking at both sides to the story.
  • Sorry, but Jr is an embarrassment to Hendrick Motorsports. Busch got loose, it wasn't done on purpose. Junior got loose and bounced off the wall, should he be suspended for reckless driving? Get over yourself and your love affair with a mediocre driver (Junior).
  • I absolutely believe that something should be done to him. After it happened it was only speculated by the commentators that he MIGHT have been loose, it was never reported by him or his team that he actually was. Something needs to be done about his constant disrespect for other drivers and overly aggressive driving. In 2002, Kevin Harvick was parked for a Cup race because of aggressive driving during a truck race so it's definitely not out of the question to do that again to Kyle Busch for the same offense.
  • lol You don't want to go there! Your only gonna get crucified by opinion's of Kyle Fans! You can bet Kyle would be crying if it were reversed. huh?
Let's just say Nascar Rules! Fav driver, opinions, or not. huh?
  • I don't really like him either but thats no reason to park him.
  • I so totally agree with you. I liked him when he drove for Hendrick, but of course he didn't start winning until he went to "that other team(!)" and now he's just a danger I believe. GET RID OF HIM!
  • Well I don't like Kyle Busch or Kurt either. ( I have to dislike both of them since I can hardly tell them apart.) I am a fan of Dale Jr. but I don't think Kyle should be suspended over some incidental contact on the track. It sucked even more because Kyle wasn't even on the lead lap but to suspend him would be a huge overreaction. The wreck appeared to be caused by a bunch of stay-dry there in the corner. Kyle was just racing to get his lap back.
  • I agree with you. he is arrogant & very disrespectful of other drivers. This isn't the 1st time he done something like this and one of these days he is going to get someone seriously hurt...
  • I by no means am a Kyle Busch fan. However, he actually didn't do anything wrong today! He just got loose. That's it. End of story! Gosh! I can't believe I am saying this, give the guy a break! Kyle had a bad race day and that's called racing!

    STEWART HAAS RACING FAN
  • Not me. He just got loose. All drivers have gotten loose and gotten into cars during their careers. It's just racing. I have seen things on the track that were much worse than that.
  • No

You are wrong. Busch did nothing of the sort. It would have NOT changed the outcome of the race. Dale just does not have it anymore and I doubt he wins a race this year.large screen pda

Streets of saint petersburg indy car question?

    May be...

  • Well, first of all, fellow IndyCar Nation Downforce member - no more cheating! :) You should be sure and watch the race!

Although I watched the race - and then I still couldn't remember the answer either! After a bit of Googleing (finding your question here), I remembered what I had watched; "AJ Foyt". I guess I gotta quit fast forwarding thru the commercials and other things!

And by the way, the Radio broadcast word is "throttle", but no more free-bees!
  • Who was the subject of the IZOD IMS Centennial Moment during the broadcast on Versus?airlines pnr
  • Do you find that the race is more exciting when you can..?

    May be...

  • YES! FOX does a lousy job of showing the pit times. They are more concerned with Mikey's in car camera...even though he's usually 2 or more laps down.
  • YES! I agree. Why don't they do that anymore?
  • I agree. Maybe they should give ol digger a stopwatch so we could see the race on pit stops. Makes no sense why they are not showing that very important fact. Heck fox sometimes misses pitstops all together while gone on one of many commercials. Wish they would go split screen soon. Then everyone wins.
    GO 17!!!!!
Oh i did finally see the 48 an 98 had a pit time but why not the top 10 at least??? Back to commercial!!!
  • see the pit times?

My personal feeling is that the pit stall times are the second most important thing to be aware of and not being able to see it really makes it alot less interesting.
  • When i was 10 years old i went to one of my dads races..it was the final race of the season and the last lap... my dad was going around the final coner when a guy named adam rigges nipped my dads car sending it into a spin he hit the wall and his car caught fire i watch as he was burned alive from the stands..... i can still hear him screaming....... the paramedics said that he died instantly..... they said i was the one who was screaming..... i saw adam about a week later i remember i had a wrench in my hand and i hit him and i didnt mean to keep hitting him but by the time i was done i could bearly lift my arm..... hes a janitort the local high school takes the bus to work everyday... thats why i live my life a quater mile at a time cause for those ten seconds or less...... im free.honda motorcycle dealer indiana
  • POLL: What did you think of the National Anthem today?

    May be...

  • I want an ENCORE!!!!!!

    Give that Dude a Standing - O
  • That was a great anthem!
  • i liked it but just doesnt go with nascar at all.
  • The Anthem was amazing and I loved the kids face at the end. He was so excited and proud!!!
  • AWESOME.
What do you do during the invocation? Do you also say a prayer ? YES
Do you put your hand on your heart during the Anthem? SOMETIMES.
  • He's a heck of a pianist ... very talented ... but I think he should have slowed it down just a little. It sounded kind of "rushed". At times it sounded like he wanted to change the tempo into a "boogie woogie" which was a little confusing for the National Anthem. But still overall he is a very good pianist.
  • That young man (well, he's only like 1-2 years younger than me lol)
    has phenomenal talent.
    Invocation: ALWAYS.
    Anthem: 97% OF THE TIME
  • I thought it was absolutely awesome!

I don't do much for the invocation. It had never occurred to me to pray along, which is odd because I'm very spiritual. I think I'll be doing that from now on. Thanks! ;-)
  • He did an excellent job!!
    I pray with them.
I do put my hand on my heart when I'm at the races.
  • I was pretty good. Better than most. Hopefully a good race.
  • Being an old G.I. I tend to stand. At a live event my heart actually palpitates with pride.

  • What is a Kers (sp??) system ?

    May be...

  • It's a device(Either battery or flywheel) for storing energy that can be used for a short burst once a lap!
  • all the energy that is wasted by the car under braking etc is stored in a battery ( or in BMW case a fan wheel) then this energy can be transformed into around 80 brake horse power when the drivers shoose. and can lasat for about 6.7 seconds. if you watch the bbc coverage then they sometimes shows a little battery which symbolises the KERS and the amount the drivers has used. the KERS gets toped up every lap.
  • It stores what would of been wasted energy under braking and the driver can release it when he wants, it gives an extra 80 BHP each lap for 6.67 seconds.

There are two differnt ways of KERS

1 is stored in a Battery and the other is using a Flywheel

Everyone use KERS at the moment is using the Battery system.

    Hope that helped.
  • it is what causes the normally wasted energy caused by braking and deceleration to be stored as re-usable energy and (under the present rules) to be put back into the system as a 80BHP boost ~once each lap maxium.
can be stored as a current in a battery or as a Kinetic force in a fly wheel
    hope this helps
  • Basically it takes energy from braking/ engine braking depending on the system and stores it in a battery or in william's case a flywheel and it can be used to give the driver a boost of 80 bhp for 6.9 seconds a lap when they push button. However the system is heavy and there is a debate weather it is work it as it is a solid lump of around 40 kg which can upset the handling as that 40kg can't be used in balast to help balance the car and it also causes the car's centre of gravity to rise as it takes room out of the fuel tank which causes the fuel to sit higher and therefore causes the centre of gravity to rise

  • Has anyone ever lapped the whole field? Who? When?

    May be...

  • I think Yahoo need's to seriously consider putting an age limit on people who use this format. I'll agree with Ned Jarrett.
  • I remember David Stremme or Steven Wallace lapped the Entire field at Michigan in the ARCA race
  • The only one that I have heard of before Maggie was Ned Jarrett. Some of these old timers might know more about this than me though. That's a little before my time.
  • In 1965 at The Southern 500 in Darlington, Ned Jarrett won by 14 laps.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned_Jarrett
  • Ned Jarrett won the 1965 Southern 500 by 14 laps over second place Buck Baker. And apparently the last time this happened was when Geoffrey Bodine won at North Wilkesboro in 1994.
  • Jr. rocks!
  • not sure but it would have to be before restrictor plate racing
  • DANG, Maggie & Firestorm I was at the 1965 Southern 500 yep Ned Jarrett had a great day he as a a zillion miles ahead of 2nd place Buck Baker the dad of Buddy Baker. There was another record that day also I'm gonna have to dig thru my record books..I hope you weren't at the Southern 500 when I was a illegal race queen by one yr,,geez

    Go Dale jr & hms
  • I know "The King" did it in 1963. see my ref.

Perhaps rephrase your Q to "who did it first?", "most laps?" or "How many races?"

EDIT: Age limit, biner? I'm 47yo. Been a fan of NASCAR since STP sponsored The King ( I STILL have a clipboard with an STP sticker on the back, from when I was a KID) and another from when Valvoline sponsored Mark Martin.

  • Who's looking forward to F1 !?

    May be...

  • ME! But I have to get up at 430am to watch and then be at work at 7am. Oh well.
  • best season so far
  • I am, an absolutely amazing qualifying an another great result for JB, people seem to overlook him and focus on Hamilton but Button has always been a great driver, things just haven't gone his way until now, I've always supported him and hope he carries on he way he started the season.

as for mclaren and ferrari, unless they find a magic lamp in the pits i think that they are going to lose their "F1 GODS" status very soon.

Brawn and Red Bull are the teams to watch now!!
  • it going to be a great race!
  • sure am. don't no if hamilton will do so well this season, his car seems underpowered compared to the competion's
  • I cant wait for it

    Button 1st again !!!

hamilton :( that car needs sorting soon !

    your thoughts ?

    bless x
  • its going to be brilliant! considering that Ferrari made mistakes and they could have Massa in the top 10 easily. i'm guessing a few retirements and rain, rain, rain! Brawn GP cant wait to see what they do. close eye on Vettel how he gets up the grid. Alonso i'm guessing is going to go backwards....but i hope his ear infection isn't as painful as it seems.
  • Potentially, the best season for a decade.

On the Beeb, close competition, no adverts and 'the chain' greeting us to start things off.

    Bliss.
  • Yep 3 different teams on 1,2,3 and no Ferrari's or Mclaren's for a change.
    C'mon Vettel bring it!
  • I cant wait for it either i love f1 and the malaysian gp circuit. Brawn gp most likely to win if there is no rain. If there is rain its going to be extremely exciting.
  • Me me me!!
Yeah, Mclaren better get their act together soon, I sense they won't be doing well until Spain...
Go Brawn though, they must be feeling fabulous right about now!
  • Button ,Trulli, Rosberg.
I'm probably dreaming, I'm hopeless at predicting anyway!
