  • Which NASCAR team do you think has the best young talent?

    May be...

  • Its not Hendrick, they only have 1 driver- Brad K, and all of there other drivers are over 30 (33 is the youngest- JJ)

Gibbs has Busch, Hamlin, and Lagano- pretty good

Roush- Kenseth is 37 and Biffle is 39 so I expect them to retire and have more family time soon. For young talent, you could include David Ragan as well as Cousin Carl.
And then there Nationwide/Truck talent includes Colin Braun, Stenhouse Jr. ,and Darnell. Then they have JW Townly.

Dont know if they can hang on to all of those drivers.

Who do you think has the best young talent?
AND when do you think Gordon, Kenseth, and Biffle will retire?
  • gotta go with Gibbs...Hamlin and Busch in the top 12, and Logano is not far behind
  • i think david ragan has been looking pretty good but gibbs definately has the best young fleet of drivers
  • not a toyota fan but gibbs to me has the best young talant
    lagano best young talant
    gordon=4 or 5 years
    kenseth-6 or 7 years
    biffle=5 +
  • Its gotta be gibbs they have logano. Plus roush has to eliminate a car next year and its starting to look like its ragan, so they wont be keeping him.

Gordon will likely retire in the next few years due to back problems and biffle and kenseth will probably stick around a while longer.bracelet games
  • What impact does the introduction of KERS have so far?

    May be...

  • I'm not really sure. Its hard to say.
It was built up as a big thing for this years championship, but it seems that now you'd be lucky to find 3 teams a race that have KERS.
From what I have seen KERS has helped Mclaren when it comes to getting off the start line. But during the race it doesn't really seem to make any big difference.
Beginning of the year Red Bull had problems with the technology when Vettel was getting electric shocks from the system when he got out of the car. And I believe that in some cases the KERS system would interfere with other systems and cause it all to shut down.
I think that if they had properly developed the technology and not rushed it in then it might be in many more cars and be much more effective than it is at the moment.
  • That every team that concentrated of designing a KERS system, has suffered this season. Ferrari, McLaren, Renault and BMW's seasons have all been disappointing, where as Red Bull, Brawn and to some extent Williams and Toyota have benefited by concentrating on other areas.
It was a semi interesting idea that has fallen flat on its face. A lot of expense for a slightly quicker start and the ability to hold up non KERS cars, limiting the overtaking that it was supposedly meant to encourage.
  • I was going to say what Angel H said so beautifully. I completely agree and bow to her unrivalled technical expertise.best sleeper cars

Are there any Europeans who like NASCAR?

    May be...

  • Yes! I do! I'm in the UK.

I watch NASCAR online at "stupid o'clock" on Sunday morning, then have to keep bright-eyed and bushy tailed to watch the Formula 1 afterwards!

It's a tough life!! :-)dwl 650 wireless pc card
  • What are some things a new fan of Formula 1 should know?

    May be...

  • i am a long time NASCAR fan and i always have been intrigued by Formula 1 and now want to get into it
  • Yay. Thats what happened to me. I was a huge Nascar fan and then I discovered F1. Now I love them both but I prefer F1 over Nascar slightly. In F1, the teams design and build their own cars. As is not the case in Nascar, qualifying and the start of an F1 race are hugely important. It is difficult to pass on the track and there are rarely "cautions" to bunch the field back up. Not every car/driver scores points. Only the top 8 finishers get points. Opposite of Nascar, the car gets faster with each lap as it burns off fuel and becomes lighter. Each team has 2 cars and the same people perform the pit stop for both cars. I could go on and on. Enjoy!
  • You will learn that you have to get up early in the morning to watch it on Sunday mornings and you also need cable or satellite TV. The greatest difference between F1 and American racing is that all of the F1 races are on road courses whereas most American races are on ovals. F1 also has a standing start, not the rolling start that American racing fans are accustomed to. Also, there are almost no full course yellows to slow things down during a race, and their keep racing even though there is a torrential downpour. All F1 cars are open wheeled, so there is no pushing other cars out of the way as you see often in NASCAR racing.
  • First off, welcome. It is really good to see someone who likes NASCAR willing to follow another motorsport division.

There are so many things to know about F1 that are way too numerous to mention here. What I would suggest to you is to log onto Wikipedia and type in "Formula 1". That will give you a really good idea of what F1 is about. In the interim, here is a cliffs-notes version of F1.

It is the most expensive sport in the world.
It only races on street and permanent road courses, no ovals.
Some of the greatest names in motorsports history-Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart, SIr Winston Moss, Mario Andretti, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher-have raced in and with the exception of Moss, became champions in F1.
F1 is the only series where it's champion is declared World Champion. No other series can legitimately make that claim.
The series races around the world, sadly, not in the U.S. anymore, although it has in the past.
The cars are among the most exotic, technologically advance motorsport vehicles in the world.
Famous automotive marques like Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Renault, and Toyota have raced in F1 either as engine suppliers or team owners.
F1 teams must design and build their own cars, although they can farm the work out to outside suppliers, the car must be designed indivudally by each team.

There's so much more to know. Go to Wikipedia and take a look. I think you'll like what you see. Once again, welcome to F1. I
  • Besides what the above posters said, here's another fact- only the top 8 finishers get points.

  • One season of not making the chase and Harvick wants out?

    May be...

  • When was the last time Harvick led laps or had a chance to win a race? RCR hasn't been competitive for quite some time now. I'm surprised Harvick has stayed this long. I would have left a few seasons ago.
  • have you never been unhappy in your job? until you've walked a mile in his moccasins, you have no right to judge or criticize.
  • Well he's always aspired to having his own cup team, this may just bring it to fruition sooner.
  • i'm not going to point the finger on this one. harvick (with the most tenure at rcr) is running worst of the 4 drivers. i think he has a lot on his noggin with his truck and nationwide teams, lack of funding etc. i'm not making excuses for him since he is my least favorite driver. however, it sure seems obvious his concentration and effort aren't there this year. clint bowyer and jeff burton (when he isn't being run over) seem to run up towards the front each week but kevin is more like an also ran. i hope richard shows him the door.
  • I'm not sure how he's blaming RCR for his problems. Yes, the team is not doing that well this year overall. However, Harvick is last out of all four team members. Casey Mears really struggled at Hendrick, yet he is 3 places higher than Harvick this year. Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer have been showing some better runs of late and are even higher in the standings. It seems to me that combined with his inability to win any races last year, either, that perhaps he is projecting the blame onto RCR to avoid placing it on himself. Maybe he is spending too much time focused on his lower teams. But when everyone else on the team is doing better than you and/or even showing improvement... I don't see how you should blame the team owner for it.
  • yeah I thought that too every driver and team has a down year and that's what's happening at RCR I mean next year they could get back on track win the championship for all we know
  • cry baby
  • Its been a awful yr for RCR, Happy Harvick as he is normally known as certainly isn't happy thats for sure. But all of the drivers are struggling on the team, I don't blame him for wanting out, but Childress says Harvick isn't going anywhere. If he stays put for next yr,RCR better get their program together, as Harvick won't be the only driver wanting out at RCR.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • If I had to venture a guess as to what " Happy " Harvick's deal is, I would say this. He has a front row, behind the scenes peek at the day to day goings on at RCR, and maybe he's not comfortable with the show.

RCR hasn't exactly been ripping it up this year. And while last year looks like a banner year, look closer. RCR as a whole won some races and contended in the chase, but they didn't exactly set the world alight. They didn't go out and dominate races. They won on last pit stop calls and wrecks by the front runners. I can't remember the last time an RCR car lead the most laps in a race in route to victory. Maybe Kevin has looked at what they are doing as a whole to fix this problem, and is not satisfied with the plans for the future.

If I were in that situation and thought I had a shot at abandoning ship for an upwardly mobile team like SHR, I'd at least consider it.
  • What's up with that?
  • Simply put....He want to go to STEWART_HAAS..which is the team of the present and future...Harvick is no dummie.
  • He had threatened to leave in the past if RCR didn't get more competitive. They looked to be heading in the right direction last year but now they seem be behind again. I think adding the 4th car just spread them too thin.

Harvick may never win a cup title but he is far better than his results have shown. He should be a solid top 10 guy.
  • Harvick hasn't done a whole lot with RCR. I know he won 5 races in 06 and the Daytona in 07, (and a heck of alot of Busch races) but I think RCR doesn't appear to really be making much progress as some of the other teams did. I would like to see Harvick swap rides with Jr and see what happens with that ride... If you can't win with Hendrick, you just can't win. Look at Mark Martin!
  • i think he's actually wanted out for a while now
  • The last race he won was the 2007 Daytona 500, and as everyone is desperatly trying to make happen is more emphasis on winning races, and what racing is all about, I'd be ready to leave, too. He wants to win races, and where RCR is right now, he can't do that.garden stone suppliers

  • It would be better if the judge did appoint a lab, but I also don't think that it is his responsibility. Considering Jeremy Mayfield presented that scientific expert who was just a fraud, his credibility is shot with me. Rather than Nascar trying to bring him down, I see a man who ruined his life and is now trying to ruin Nascar for not letting him have his way. What is really sad about all this is that no one seems to care about the other 42 drivers. I believe it says a lot that they, who actually know the man unlike us, don't believe him.
  • I think Jeremy Methfield has moved on because today I saw him working at Burger King..
  • I agree
  • yes it does need to be resolved and if it is done that way.. it should end it.. i hope
hopefully if he is guilty he gets the help he needs with the help of Nascar,,,
and if he isn't he should be welcomed back
  • i think ya'll are looking for a conspiracy. the dude does meth...plain and simple. i saw him taking it on the grassy knoll.
  • Jeremy did request that his samples be tested at an independent lab. NASCAR refused to allow it!

Being a private entity, NASCAR can pretty much pencil in new rules whenever they want.
  • they did another test and felled again. and someone im sorry i cant rember who said they say him do 30 times so i dont think hell b racing soon
  • Because even if the Judge were to do this, they would not be able to find mayfield, because he would be off tweeeeeeeking somewhere!!!!

Come on people, think what you may, but this dude (Mayfield) is doing speed. I do not like it, because we have a really good sport here and for this dope fiend to be doing speed...oh and I, yea, I, put some bubble gum and grape kool-aid and a stick of big red together and...Um,...., um,..., um,...., um,....oh, Tested positive for speed. A drug addict best friend----DENIAL!!!!!
  • The whole Mayfield thing needs to be resolved. Why doesn't the judge in the case get a random lab to do the test and not release the lab's name to NASCAR or Mayfield so neither can say the result was tampered with?
  • just think... some people think a NASCAR is a race car
  • It ain't the judges job to determine if Mayfield is taking drugs..
It's the judges job to determine if the tests NASCAR had taken, constitute enough reason for NASCAR to deprive him of his livelihood..
  • It's odd to me, that Mayfield says that he went to 6 independent labs, which if he did, he could provide proof of, and all six came back negative, but the tests done by NASCAR came back positive. Can any of us provide proof one way or the other? No. But who do we believe? The Plaintiff or the Defendent? 2 positive results or 6 negative? The thing is, NASCAR won't let him admit outside results as "evidence", so Jeremy can't properly defend himself. Or is it that they won't send it to a neutral party.

I say he's innocent until proven beyond reasonable doubt guilty. And my friends, there is some reasonable doubt.
  • I agree, he needs to be tested by an independent lab.converting file lit

Who do you expect to be the next woman in NASCAR? (Sprint Cup)?

    May be...

  • I do feel Danica will be in Nascar by 2011, if not 2010. I doubt any other female will beat her in before that time. She seems to be more about promotion than performance & NASCAR is much more popular in the US than Indy.
  • I dunno man, but I hope she looks good in a clown suit
  • danica is going to be the next girl..and since there is no specific thing saying only guys can race in NASCAR..then there shouldnt be a WNASCAR
  • probably Danica, she will come in with lot of Hoopla, she wont do very well, but will sell alot of promo stuff., and get a ton of commercials
  • It would definitely be Chrissy Wallace. she has already raced in a couple truck races, and its only a matter of time before she is racing in the nationwide or sprint cup Series.
  • Danica?
    Or someone else- name?

Who will be the next Sprint Cup Series Woman? OR Nationwide
  • Nascar is a man's sport, face it..why aren't there any women in the National Football League? what about men's professional boxing?..women cannot handle the pressures of Nascar..let them drive the oversized indy Go Carts, which is a no contact sport..women. stick to volley ball with the little bikini's, can't be seen in a fire suit..
  • i think it will be danica
  • Paris Hilton.....daddy...I...want.....
  • I truly do not expect to see any woman in Sprint Cup or Nationwide any time soon. It's all just a threat by Danica to get more money from her team. As for why there isn't a female version of Nascar, I think it comes down to two main reasons: 1. Women's sports are not nearly as popular as men's. 2. There just aren't that many female race car drivers. Why start a venture that few people want to see that would only consist of a handful of drivers?95 plymouth neon how to install cold air intake
  • Who is the best driver in the 2009 season?

    May be...

  • Felipe Massa in a dog of a 2009 Ferrari barring bad luck he would have been on the podium in Shanghai
and put in a stellar performance at Monaco in again a poor car strong in a poor car at Barcelona holding off the very good Red Bull for nearly all of the race and only told to let Vettel go due to a pitstop mess by Ferrari
he came from 11th on the grid to 4th at Silverstone and 8th on the grid to 5th at the last time out in Germany so my vote goes to Felipe 'Baby' Massa
  • Its hard to say really.
Personally I don't really rate Jenson Button as high as his points are showing. I think that the Brawn car has alot to do with it all, compared with last years Honda results.
Nico Rosberg has proven consistant in practice but it seems that he can't quiet pull it off in qualifying and in the races he manages a decent result.
I might sound bias but I think that the Red Bull team have the best drivers. I mean Vettel broke records last year in Italy with a pole and win in a less than competative Toro Rosso car. He's won several races this year and helped to bring the fight to Brawn.

Mean while Mark Webber (whose career I've followed a fair bit being a fellow Aussie) at the start of his career he had the likes of Sir Jack Brabham, Alan Jones and Sir Jackie Stewart saying that if he had a world class car that he could be a world champion.
He has struggled with some pretty bad cars during his career and finally now he has a competitive car his talent is really shining through. I know I said that Jensons position is mostly his car but Mark has had the talent to win just his not had the second part of the formula and that is a decent car.

So in the end I'm saying Webber. Without even getting to the fact that the effect that his injury would have had at the beginning of the year and the recovery needed I think that he has been a real standout of the field. Pole and a first win which included a drive through penalty plus 2 other stops really showed me he has impressive talent.

EDIT: Umm Kurt you might want to do a little more research. Vettel has won 2 races this year in the Chinese and British GP. So essentially Vettel was the one to stop Button from winning not Webber.
  • mmm...well it would be Jensen Button, Sebastian Vettel or maybe even Mark Webber...but defntly not Lewis Hamilton..

Honestly, i dun think its the driver, but the cars...cz they use all these new stuff to make them go faster n to keep them on the ground..Like K.E.R.S, and the new diffusers..n that is why Jensen Button from Brawn GP kept winning until Mark Webber from RedBull racing just beat him...but Jensens' still leading with 65 points i think...n Mark Webbers 45.5
  • adrian sutil
  • Im going on the assumption you mean F1

    I believe its Nico Rosberg
  • It's a toss-up between Jenson Button-the biggest surprise by far-or Sebastien Vettel. Both have shown a great turn of speed this year. If I had to pick one, it would be Button, not because he is leading the World Championship, but because his success was completely unexpected. Vettel has been tipped as a future star for a while, so his success is not unexpected.
  • I would have to say Sebastian Vettel, I don't think the red bull is a better car than the brawn and yet he keeps on pilling the points and wins
  • Who notably this year has made the least amount of mistakes? The first who come to mind are Button and Massa.

Button was able to make the best out of the best car until cold temperatures have made his car second only to the RedBulls. But he hasn't committed any mistakes, been smooth and calculated.

But I must agree with Music fan in saying that Massa has excelled while driving an inferior vehicle. After the drama of the end of last season, any driver could have cracked. Instead Massa started professionally with no hang-ups. He did not commit any mistakes this year (unlike in the past). He got the best out of a terrible Ferrari and outperformed his teammate. He kept his composure, has been a team player and never complained about an inferior car. He hasn't shown the mental cracks that Lewis the WC has shown in similar situations. He keeps pounding and getting better results than expected this year.

While Vettel has impressed, Sebastian has also committed three big mistakes in the 9 races so far. In two cases he earned zero points, and in another he lost a possible win.

Unexpectedly Massa is for me the best driver so far this season. Button right behind him. The season is not over, so this is just a temporary ranking!!!
  • It is hard to tell since I am so distracted by how clownish the cars look now...
  • My vote goes to Sebastien Vettel...

Red Bull is not the quickest car....
It doesnt have sufficient aerodynamics....when compared to the BrawnGP cars...

Still he manages to snatch victories and podiums every now and then...its simply amazing...and he is very good in wet condition too...
He is a typical pole setter...and he has that capacity to convert poles to wins...

    ~Cheers!~
  • That does not mean the driver with most pointsfantastic four 3d
  • Will Marcos Ambrose get a full time cup ride next year?

    May be...

  • I hope so. I think he will win a race this year. It is just a matter of time.

He might be the best true All-Around Race Car Driver out there, Robby Gordon is also really good.

If Robby or Marcos had the support of Team Owners like other do, I think they would be winning races.

Robby Gordon doesn't need to win races, everyone likes him and understands he does what he can with the funds he has.

Marcos will have a Full Time Cup ride next year if anyone in NASCAR has a brain.
  • I don't see why not. He's doing quite well.
  • He has qualified for every race so far this year. That looks to me like a full time ride right now. He's 18th in points standings and has finished 94% of laps so far on tracks he has only been on for the first time in his NASCAR career. I think this guy is a natural and will be one of NASCAR's future stars.
  • More than likely yes he willgetting codes
  • Who would be a good fit at RCR if Harvick leaves for Stewart Haas?

    May be...

  • Keselowski should race for Childress.
Why he's still only running a partial schedule in Cup is beyond me.
  • No

I can't stand Happy "balding" Harvick. I would be very upset.
I doubt that the #3 will ever see the track soon. Anyways, not with the way Jr's driving. No way.
Jr' will never drive the #3 I know he says he would but I doubt it.
  • I suppose Brad K. could get the call.
  • hey Eich i dont know if you no this but kasey kahne is a ****** and sucks at driving
  • lol they are going to eat u up for this one
    id love to see it
but jr say that "was his daddy's deal"
man it be nice though hendrick would want alot of $$$ though lol to let him out of his contract
    go jr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3
  • I'm going to say it again. I would love to see Kasey Kahne drive for Stewart Haas Racing. I think that would be a good fit.

    Stewart Haas Racing!
  • my daughter
  • Is Harvick leaving for Stewart-Haas?
  • Harvick is not going to Stewart Haas He is staying where he is.
  • OK..please don't jump on me...but I was thinking maybe Dale Jr. Richard Childress and Sr. were best friends. And then maybe see the Black #3 back on track???
It seems almost sacreligious to me but maybe for a few races???
    Your thoughts????
  • Kerry Earnhardt
  • Keep in mind RCR actually offered Jr more money than Hendrick did. But Jr didn't feel right going there, he's trying to make his own name after all.
  • I don't see him doing it,but Jr is the obvious choice.
  • this sounds weird but i don't see jr. ever racing for childress. if he is under 'too much pressure at hendricks' then driving for childress and in the #3 would make him stroke out. i think if anyone goes to rcr after harvick leaves, it will be paul menard...yes, i know he doesn't seem to be that great but he does bring a sponsorship package with him and it's my understanding he is looking to move. i see jr. staying at hendricks a couple of more years and then taking his nationwide team to the next level.
  • I heard Harvick isn't going anywhere and I hope it's true. No jumping but Junior has signed a 5 year contract with HMS so I don't see him going anywhere. Even though it has been brought up many times before I personally think that black #3 should never be on the track again. It should be retired forever in the memory of Dale Earnhardt.
  • Well Harvick isn't going to Stewart Haas. He's staying put, he just isn't that great no more. He's in the mid 20's in points. Just doing horrible. If anyone is to go to Stewart Haas in a 3rd car it would have to be Brad Keselowski, this man is the future of the Cup Series
  • i can see Harvick in Tony's camp somewhere down the road but i can't see Jr. with RCR. Should number 3 ever be raced again - well Taylor has been in a show car recently but i don't see it happening. i don't think Richard or Theresa would let it happen.
  • I would have to say that Brad Keselowski would be the front-runner for the ride. He's ready to move up to Sprint Cup and Dale, Jr. has said he more-than-likely will not be able to bring his Nationwide team up to the Sprint Cup level.

Dale, Jr. has said that driving for Richard Childress might be something he would consider later in his career.gps76c

    Kobe bryant Or Lebron james?

    May be...

  • Kobe Bryant over Lebron James anyday
  • Kobe
  • Lebron is more exciting of the two to watch. But Kobe wins the championships.
  • Neither one has driven in NASCAR. James by far. He doesn't think he's king of basketball.
  • I think LeBron would be able to wheel one around better but Kobe would live up to his name of Black Mamba, he seems pretty slick.

I would like to suggest other names, but then again, I can't find any. I would suggest D-Wade but he just doesn't seem like the kind of guy to do it. He's good at what he does and needs to stick with it.
  • ha

    kobe bryant
  • Can't stand either.
  • Lebron. Kobe is a *****
  • Lebron James
  • lebron james cuz kobe will force himself on you
  • kobe- he won the championship. best in the NBA- 3rd best evr
  • Kobe ftw hands down .....Lebron will be the future IF not already but Bryant first
  • Kobe Bryant aka the Black Mamba
  • bryant
  • your comparing bryant lebron kobe has been in the nba way longer then lebron and were already comparing them people think lebron is better know when he plays as many years as kobe we'll see plus most of kobe's life in the nba was with shaq know we get to see if lebron could get even better playing with shaq GO CAVS
  • Kobe
  • As far as who would win in a race? Lebron. He seems like he could probably handle the cars better.

In basketball, Kobe! Ever since Lebron entered the NBA there is just something about him that I don't like.
  • Who cares hockey kicks basketball's as*
  • kobe

    lol u did it
  • KOBE
  • Kobe is way better than Lebron. Just to let you know, this is the Nascar section and this question would get better answers in the Basketball section.
  • didn't Cobe get convicted of something.
I think my vote goes to Lebaron James

  • What do you think of Harvick leaving Childress for Stewart Haas?

    May be...

  • Granted nothing is carved in stone but would like to hear your thoughts?

    http://autoracingsport.com/nascar/report…
  • Wow, I AM out of the loop these days. I had no clue.

Harvick would be a perfect fit at Stewart-Haas. He and Stewart are already friends (and they have pretty much the same temperment), they both know racing from the ground up, and he's potentially got a major sponsor coming with him. Sounds good all around--except for Childress.

But then that would leave a ride open for some other talented drivers who haven't been able to find rides--if Childress can find a sponsor.
  • It seems like a good move on Harvick's part. He'd be leabing a team that has failed to perform ALL YEAR. Not to mention that he and Tony are pretty good friends.
And to sweeten the deal, there is the possibility of Harvick and Stewart joining forces on the Camping World and Nationwide series (similar to the deal Jr. and Hendrick have). That way, Tony has a Nationwide seat if he, Newman, or even Ms. Danica Patrick wanted to race that week.
  • Whatever the problem at RCR, it starts at the top. Harvick leaving would resurrect is career.
  • I say great!

Harvick I think has been held back for "others".

    GO SHR!!!!
  • The article says it best and that is my opinion.

.."Adding Harvick in a package with a strong sponsor would be a masterstroke.."
  • It would be a smart move on Harvick's part. RCR currently sucks.
  • I've never been a fan of Harvick, but RCR as a whole should be embarrassed by the way they have been performing this year. It's probably a smart move on Harvick's part.
  • i think it would be good for harvick he and childress have had words over chassis and performance of the team over the years he and tony would be like brothers getting mad at each other but friends by days end
  • harvick needs to get out of nascar cause he sucks
  • I'm not sure, I think that it may just be an off year for him, and it may not be the best idea to leave after one bad season. Stewart-Haas is obviously a great team, and he has a great relationship with Stewart, so it does seem like a good fit. So, I'm not too sure I would leave so soon, but if he's going to, he picked the right team.
  • I think that he has to do what he has to do,probably a smart move.It looks llike it is getting carved in stone now !

  • While RCR is having a bad year in general, Harvick is doing the worst of all their drivers. Perhaps it has something to do with all the energy he puts into his own teams, I'm not sure. However, I think it might be a good move for all involved. He would probably be a better fit with Tony Stewart than the laid-back RCR guys.
  • Agree with those on here that say it is a great move for Harvick. To be honest I am very surprised about the whole deal. I really didn't think that Stewart would add a third team until 2011. But I guess things must be going well on the business side as well as the racing side that he felt he could handle it. Harvick is a great choice for a veteran driver, but I would have thought that Stewart would have gone with a good rookie prospect like Keselowski.
Now it will be interesting to see who fills that seat at RCR.
  • The way RCR has been the last few years, I'm surprised Harvick is still there. Last rumor I heard had Harvick taking his own team to the Cup series.x box trouble
  • Can you actually decrease the C.I.D. of a racing engine to increase performance?

    May be...

  • Will NASCAR allow you to undersize on the specifications to let you "play" with performance modifications?
  • yes you can, and it will happen somewhere in the future
  • Yes, size does not always matter. Sorry ladies......

About 6 years ago, Jimmie Johnson was getting unbelievable gas mileage. He was literally getting an extra 10 laps more than anyone else.

Nascar asked them what they were doing. Chad answered that they were doing nothing outside the rules. Nascar then told them to disclose their "secret" or face a suspension.

NASCAR had to eat crow when Chad announced what they had done was put the next size SMALLER carburetor on the race car. It meant that they gave up 2 hp in the track runs, but got that extra 10 laps in fuel mileage.
  • NASCAR will let you play with the numbers to a degree..
Any major change needs NASCAR approval..
That was a neat trick by Chad using the Holley 740, until the other teams caught on..
  • You can not decrease reciprocating mass. Nascar has minimum weights for rods, pistons, crankshafts etc.

Decreasing the displacement is allowed but gives no advantage because the rpm is limited as well as the maximum bore size.air vouchers
  • What will Wood Brothers be doing next year in nascar?

    May be...

  • From what I have been able to read the 2010 season is still up in the air for the Wood Brothers. They have been doing really good this year running a limited schedule with Bill Elliott. Running a partial schedule is nothing new to the Wood brothers, they have run partial schedules back in the day and have made it work then and are making it work now. Seeing the #21 Motorcraft car brings a smile to my face, not only because of the sponsor but the history behind the Wood Brothers. Single car teams are a dying breed nowadays.

  • In NASCAR, Does the color of the car matter?

    May be...

  • No, but sometimes the color of the number on top of the car matters to help the spotters out.
  • Only if it is Petty Blue.
  • no the teams can paint the cars whatever color they feel like. some sponsors want the car painted a specific color but it doesnt effect anything else. the only thing that matters is that they have the numbers on the car and the mandatory sponspor stickers.
  • Excellent question. Just ignore the children.
Even in American Football the colors mean a lot...but not in Nascar racing. Mostly we associate a cars "colors" with their primary sponsor, and we can find them easily on the track. But sponsors change, or more often, a special paint scheme will be run by the team...a lot like Tony Stewart in Saturday nites race. He had his normal Office Depot sponsor, but they ran a very different paint scheme. He normally runs a basic red car with a white "Office Depot" logo and a white#14. On saturday he ran a white car with rainbow crayons across the front. It was striking.
We usually associate our drivers with their primary sponsor colors but it is all about the drivers and not their sponsors. If they change sponsors for a race or run different colors, all we do spend a longer time finding them in the pack. :-)

Oh, and I've heard rumors about green cars and bad luck. I don't think thats true but what green and white car were you rooting for?
  • Colors are picked to match there main sponsor for that race/year. If its a special race, then youll see flashier paint jobs
  • the sponsor helps out the color, but on superspeedways, they trim the car sometimes with brighter colors
  • no matter to me i am colour blind
  • no the color means nothing. it is all about the number on the side of the car or the driver.
  • Yes, it all about the color. But some teams can't afford the fast colors.
  • Red is clearly faster than green...just ask Dale Earnhardt Jr.
  • NASCAR SUCKS WATCH WWE

  • Sure didn't you know that some colors run faster than others? Where you been Bro?
  • I was watching a Green & White car and it turned out to be a Taxi
The color of the car makes no difference
The color of the driver makes no difference
    It's all about the competition
  • Or is it all about the Driver.
  • no,its the driver that matters
  • Good question.

It doesn't matter really but colors help pick out the car on the track...spotters can see it better...we can watch our favorite if he is in a pack...
Can you imagine a car race going upwards of 200 mile an hour all packed together...and then have all the cars be the same color???

Its the driver that makes the car do what it does. A great driver can race a not so great car. But a great car would be wasted on a not so great driver.outlook command line switch

was it someone else like robby gordon, rusty wallace or ryan newman. i always like the paint scheme on that yellow car also. you could sure find it on raceday.
  • Sterling Marlin...back to back Daytona 500s! Come on...
  • Ernie Ervin
  • Ernie Ervan. He was my first favorite nascar driver, (yes, even before Dale Sr) before he wrecked and got hurt.
He also ran the M&M and Pedigree cars!
  • For me it was Rusty Wallace but the one driver that comes to my mind when you say Kodak car is Sterling Marlin. He was pretty dang good when he drove that car.
  • I would have to say Ernie as well as he is my favorite M&Ms driver.
I don't recall Rusty Wallace ever driving the Kodak car. I know he drove the Kodiak car. Those are two completely different product, lol. That is unless he did a one race paint scheme towards the end of his career, but I would say that doesn't really count.
  • Sterling Marlin for sure...
  • It has to be Ernie Irvan ! Hamilton was a average driver and Marlin was a bone head driver.

Why is Kyle Busch such a good driver?

    May be...

  • ....and yet he sucks as a human being...?
  • Because he is young and has NO FEAR...He drives every race to win...The older drivers have abit more "respect" for the dangers to themselves as well as other drivers. He is just in it to win it.
  • the COT cuz they're hard to wreck. remeber in the old car how he was wrecking all the time?
  • Sooo what makes you think you're not a sh!t stain on society? Please do the world a favor and don't breed.
  • because he has a lack of respect answers both questions. He has no respect for the car, his crew, other drivers or NASCAR officials, so he runs balls to the wall and doesnt care what happens. Then when things go not to his liking he shows his lack of respect to the medias and fans by either running away or pointing fingers when he is just as much to blame (if not more) that the other driver(s).
  • T & NN R, you just answered the question, why is Kyle a good driver? others should have his attitude...his only aim and desire is to win, screw everything else..even ole' Jr. should get off his goodie-goodie butt and get an attitude..I hope Kyle wins the Grand Father trophy, and smash the things to bits..that is attitude..love his personality as a nascar driver, no bull or crap from anyone...
  • Racing is in his family. DW said that every day after school he would work on racing.
  • And here I thought this was a legitimate question...until I saw the rest of the question. The problem with this forum is the childish and irrational obsessions that some here have with certain drivers.. Everyone is allowed their opinions of drivers they don't like, but to egg on the the haters and bashers and ask leading questions that will only piss off Kyle fans is immature. Leave it alone and leave this forum to true Nascar fans who appreciate intelligent dialogue about our sport.halo nmp maps
  • Yates Racing Questions?

    May be...

  • Menard is a good driver with bad cars. He needs to have better cars to win.
  • The only reason Paul Menard gets a ride anywhere is because he is fully sponsored by the family business. So, it would not surprise me to see him out at Yates. I'm sure just because of the sponsor $$, he will land somewhere, but I honestly cannot think that anyone will take him for any other reason. Even though this week's wreck was certainly not his fault, he wrecks almost every week. I hadn't heard speculation about Keselowski coming to Roush-Fenway. That would be kind of awkward with his Nationwide contract to JRMotorsports, wouldn't it?
  • Menard Shopping Sponsorship? Frontstretch.com reports that #98-Paul Menard and his family are surveying their options and shopping around their sponsorship package to other teams for 2010. Both driver and sponsor are a package deal, although Menard's list of options on the current Sprint Cup landscape is rather short. Among those teams still under the pending four-car limit and with the ability to expand include Michael Waltrip Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing (extremely unlikely), Robby Gordon Motorsports (Menards has a relationship with Gordon already), Earnhardt Ganassi Racing (the team Menard left in 2008), and Penske Racing.(Frontstretch)(7-14-2009) Comment here

  • Would you support a "competition yellow" rule for boring races?

    May be...

  • No.
  • no the leaders would not be able to drive away from the field
  • Every time there's debris they show it so people don't think it's bogus. No that would be bad. Besides all the races this year have been great !!!!!!!!
  • that makes zero sense. every driver would be inflamed, as would the hard-core fans.
  • No, because that would cause too much trouble. When should there be a caution? NASCAR would pretty much be able to control the race that way, by throwing a yellow when a specific driver would be close to going a lap down, or to give another one a lap back. Even if they weren't playing favorites, some people would always believe they were.
  • that would just be boring
  • NO!! that's like saying at half time of a football game if one team has a 21 point lead that they give the losing team two touchdowns to make it more exciting for the second half.
  • absolutely NOT!
  • Honestly, I prefer the phantom debris cautions. At least NASCAR's pretending there's a good excuse for a caution. Sometimes, they even let us see the debris.
  • no that would make drivers mad especially the leader they better keep making up things on the track piece of tire or bubble gun what ever they see
  • Why would you want to make them even longer and more boring? What I would like to see is NASCAR forcing the cars that are many, many laps down due to accidents and such, riding around and points racing, off the track.
  • Instead of throwing cautions for phantom debris, should NASCAR just make a rule for a competition yellow to get the field stacked back up, and make the race more entertaining?
  • There really isn't a reason for it since as you mention, they already have the phantom debris cautions. I think it's stupid to stack the field back up. Even when it's someone like Jimmie Johnson trouncing the field, if his car is that much better, so be it. I still enjoy watching the battles for positions on back the field.
  • a Competition yellow flag ? how do you have Competition under a yellow flag? i think if they have one shouldn't count down the laps of a race, and nascar is going to throw races under this rule when and how they want to its all about the money and the revenue generated you got to keep that in the back of your mind at all times during a (race)that's the nascar policy just ask brian france money first fans second that's the first rule in the nascar rule book on page one .bike mount pda

However, they are farming out the manufacturing process to the UK based SABMiller (makers of Miller, Red Dog, Fosters, and several other international brands sold here and abroad). The only problem is If he does get in, will he Fade out as he did last year. Only time will tell, and If he does get in It will make for some entertaining racing for the chase.

No matter what the Kid brings a circus to town when he Races, it's Checkers or Wreckers with him, and he brings Publicity to the Sport, Love him or hate him. He's like the modern day DW
  • There is a chance that he could finish dead last in the next race, but there's always a chance he could win the next four races. Not sure which one is more likely. Either way, this hasn't been a great year for Kyle on the Cup side of things.
  • kyle busch may drop out of the chase?he is only 13 points up from being in 13th place.
wow look at all the 13's...................
  • Certainly there is a chance, but I wouldn't bet on it. I think he'll be in.mtm chip
