The #88 car now says he is having trouble his transmission. Will this help him or hurt him in Sunday's race?

May be...

  • This will hurt him, because going in and out of the pits, you have to shift gears, even on restarts. If he can't get through the gears, he can't get up to speed quite as fast, and he will get either run over from behind and wrecked, or just fall out of the main pack. They will have to fix the problem if they want a chance at the win tomorrow.
  • Transmission problems certainly can't help! However, it could be a ploy for sympathy since Jr's embarrassing performance last Sunday left a lot of people feeling bad about him. Time will tell. I'm rooting for Tony, Mark and Carl!
  • Hendricks cars have been doing that here, and there...
It can't hurt too much, because if they need to change
it, he would have to start at the rear on Sunday, and
they already are at the rear...
Tranny problems only slow the car in, and out of the pits,
    and on restarts...
What lame brain would ever get the idea that it would create
"an excuse" for slow practice, and qualifying??
They don't shift, in practice, or qualifying...
Oh never mind.. The question was rhetorical.. I already found the lame brain... lol
  • better now then tomorrow
  • How could any transmission problem help you?

    v
  • If in fact dale has a tranmission problem that couldnt be good, how could it be good?
  • Would your car run good with trans. problems?
  • wait...what?
  • I think that's a great excuse for Dale Jr. to make use for running so poorly.
  • Well if they are allowed to change it...might be OK but if not...thats a serious problem. It certainly won't help.
  • If I were Tony Jr I'd be pissed he said it did this one time yesterday, now they might have to change it out. Hopefully this will work out but this could be a problem tomorrow..

  • Please! When is the green flag supposed to start the Auto Club 500 ? Please?

    May be...

  • Like around 6 ET. It starts coverage at 5 at FOX
  • i hope to be home from work before the green flag flies and i get home at 230 cent and i hope the flag flies at around 240 or so
  • Hang on...My husband is checking.
He says it "starts" at 4pm est. on fox, so your green flag will most likely be some time around 4:30.
  • It is not on NASCAR's nor FOX sites. I will not sit through 1 1/2 hours of total crap and tripe to see the beginning of the race.

  • Hot tea for me OF.
Qualified fourth and starts behind Johnson. The Dinger actually will go off eighth. Enjoy your weekend and the race.
  • I need coffee for the Cali race at night here in the East.

Hmm, not a bit, 23rd for Hamlin, 28th for Newman, and 16th for Labonte.
  • Yeah, most of HMS did all right, except for Dale. But, we'll get it right before the green.
  • Elliott got 20th, I'm used to him starting in the top 10 so no.

    I don't like coffee...
  • its very good today.

yes, i am pretty pleased with Gordon's qualifying spot.
  • My coffee is still brewing.

Mark is starting back in 18th, not so good, but not horrible.

EDIT: Ahhh. So much better now. A large moccha Latte. An indulgence I picked up while stationed in Sicily.
  • Pretty hot coffee today,Jeff starts 6th.
  • Got up to late for coffee this morning. Happy with all HMS cars but #88, but HMS & #88 crew will get it together before the race on Sunday. I was happy with the Dingers qual as well, I really hope he gets a sponsor for the entire season.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Hot strong and black. Jeff did pretty good,6th isn't that bad.dodmod forums

  • Any E-Body GM(Monte Carlo,Grand Prix, Cutlass, and Regal) from the 80's.BTW GM ran these from 1981-1988, the Lumina and FWD Grand Prix made their debut in the 89 season. I cry now when I see them on 28" wheels and want to rescue them. The Humane Society For E-Bodies anyone?
pittsteel, the Grand National(and it's cousin the T-Type) were V-6 turbocharged, fuel injected Regals.
Oh yeah the 69 Torino Talladega(guy around the corner has one, it's a nice car).

Brian Vickers on the pole at Fontana, your opinion?

    May be...

  • Hammer Down!!!!!!
  • Freakin awesome. I knew they'd be good this season, just from how they progressed last season, and because of all the money red bull has put into the team.
  • its is okay jr will take care of him
    so just calm down

    go get um dale
  • ..... Hey guys I'm here.Great job Brian...........
  • deserves it...and were is jr?
  • Congratulations to Brian Vickers !
  • Awesome!
    I like him.
  • Glad to see the "incident" in Daytona hasn't slowed him down. go Vickers!
  • I think Brian Vickers will have a good season with red bull racing.
  • very impressive
  • Whatever.
  • I'm glad to see him up there. I have been a fan of his ever since he was at Hendrick Motorsports. He had a rough week after what happened in the Daytona 500, so this is a nice way for him to rebound. I hope he runs good in the race.
  • Shows Determination and Focus on his part.
  • I think it is good but not great
  • Its a great opportunity for him. However, with Jimmie on the outside pole, I doubt he'll be out front for long.

    *SHOQ*
  • it will not last .. when they put in the race set up he will slow way down. see jimmy(48) and jeff(24) along with carl(99) and kyle(18 )to run up front most of the race.
  • Well he is getting credit for the Pole, but he is going to have to change the engine so he will have to go to the back. Just read this on Yahoo Sports, I just got home from Fontana, I just called my cousin who is out there to verify this. Brian has had the pole out here before,he is a good qualifier, don't know the details on the engine change, they did not elaborate on Yahoo Sports.

Go Dale Jr & Hms & GO ELLIOTT!!!!!!
  • I think it's great..I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Brian Vickers gets a win this season.
  • At least there's no one in front of him for him to wreck for the lead.
Newsflash-Vickers had to replace the engine, he starts from the rear Sunday.
  • A great bounce back by him after what happened at Daytona. I'm sure he'll do well and of course, get the 5 bonus points for leading a lap.
  • Congratulations on the pole .nissan pickup starter

  • Where was Elliott Sadler born ?

  • Was there ever any doubt? Just listen to the accent! Kool, huh!

    *SHOQ*
  • He was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus...rollin' down Highway 41. Lord, he was born a ramblin' man!
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • In the good old USA that's where he was born.
  • I think nascar race car driver Elliott Sadler was born on planet earth. Let me check.

  • Should Johnson have been "irked" not to be the favorite to win the championship this year?

    May be...

  • I don't know about Jimmie, but I'm irked..
I'm a Jr fan, and I know he'll have to beat Jimmie this year..
I don't much care what the odds are favoring a four in a row...
They change after three in a row, but NOT FOR ANY SINGLE YEAR..
  • Yeah, I was surprised about that. I thought Jimmie would be the favorite for sure. But I don't really think it matters so much. Predictions aren't always right. Carl said he was the favorite for the '06 title, but he didn't even make the chase. I believe Jeff Gordon was the favorite for the '08 title, but he didn't even win a race. And take a look at last year's Super Bowl. It seemed like everyone was so sure that the Patriots would win. The Boston Globe was already offering a 19-0 book for pre-sale. Yet the Giants won instead.

Jimmie could very well win the championship this year. Not being the favorite might make Jimmie drive harder to impress his critics, which could be a good thing for him.
  • I think that you have got to give respect where respect has been earned, they are a awesome group and they have there stuff together so to speak. Why do you think almost everyone wants to run a Hendrick motor. I mean look at old 50 year old Martin trying to make a come back. There's lots of scenario's so to speak that happens in the great sport of Nascar, that's what makes it so exciting! You can't judge a book by it's cover, you've got to open the book and see what's happening.
  • Jimmie Johnson is the biggest cheater and fake in all of NASCAR I hope he never wins another race.
  • Not really. I think they like "being under the radar", so to speak. It's hard to imagine why he continually seems to be the 2nd or 3rd favorite to win by the media and fans. I think all the other owners and teams know who they have to beat to win the championship. The 48 team even keeps tweaking their pit crew, that should send a message that they are not just riding the wave of their previous success. Carl, Kyle, Jeff and many others are surely capable of winning it if everything falls just right but you start to get the feeling that unless something horrible happens to the 48 team they will be right in the thick of things when they drop the green flag at Homestead once again. The biggest thing that sticks out to me is that they have never finished worse than 5th in the final standings.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • I think he should be the favorite, but maybe they were going with the odds on winning 4 in a row when they figured it. I'm sort of surprised that they stopped kissing Jr's butt long enough to get on Carl's. The media has some sort of freak love affair with the pretty boys instead of the favorites as I see it.
  • Jimmie has good reasoning with the "you have to beat the best to be the best" comment.I actually think that will give that team a lot of reason to prove them wrong. They strive on that stuff.
  • No, that's the way he likes it. Less pressure.

But, he does have a point.
  • Hmmmm...tough call. I would have picked him to be the favorite. I would have picked anyone over Carl. LOL I still think Jimmie can do it though I hope he doesn't.
  • As the "back to back to back" champ, I too was surprised that the #48 was not the favoite to win it again instead of Carl Edwards............

His response..........."'I heard that at (the preseason Fan Fest) at Daytona that they ranked him as the favorite to win, and I'm like, `Uh, really? I just won three of these things,''' Johnson said. ``I can't believe I wouldn't be.''

Where I come from, To be the champ, you gotta beat the champ"

    Your thoughts!?!?!
  • Carl would've been my favorite too. He won more races than JJ last year. He ran better than JJ in the chase but had a couples stumbles, one of which WAS his fault. But making predictions isn't fun for me. I'm content to sit back and watch it all unfold. If it was predictable, it wouldn't be exciting.
  • No, I don't think he should be upset. I think that would be a little arrogant.

Johnson has had a lot of good luck, too. Also, he started off a little slow last year, while Edwards was consistent all year.
  • I think maybe its just because it would be so hard to win four straight, no one's done that before. If I were Johnson, I would be relieved, that's a lot of pressure to put on someone.jetsend download
  • What is your favorite NASCAR Nation Storm Bandit Moment?

    May be...

  • The way she stands up to trolls, a true fighter and one of the loyal true NASCAR fans.
  • That she has a heart of gold and will respond to any and all question's asked. Sound's like all the LADY'S of THE NATION!!! Great question Maggie.
  • I loved it when Robby was doing good at the plate tracks last year, I kept thinking about her, especially this week after Vickers plowed up his car.
  • Not sure I have a favorite moment, they are all good ;) but I can tell you that just over the past month or so Storm and I have been talking quite a bit and been really getting to know each other & I think she....errr....you Storm are an absolute doll and I am glad we have become friends. Your real and down to earth exactly what I look for in a friend. I guess Y/A really is good, I have met some terrific folks here. Have a great day Storm. I hope you got enough sleep last night....LOL!
  • I don't really know anyone here well enough to associate a personality with them... save Mykey, Winter Glory, Superdave, Building a Mystery, and Prez.
  • Besides her creative avatars, her heart of gold, her caring for others make her an amazing person and I'm very proud to say the she is my friend. Her avatars change but the person she is remains the same. My favorite moment would be every time I talk with her.
  • My favorite moments are how everyone in Nascar nation accepts each other even though they have different drivers. Nascar fans have hearts of gold and would do anything for each other. When something goes wrong with a Nascar fan then the nation is there for them and for their driver too. When a Nascar nation member gets taken then the nation is upset and will do anything to bring the member back. I think Nascar nation is one of the strongest nations.

Love you guys! Best of luck to all you nascar drivers at Fontanna!
  • There all GREAT moments . She is a Big fan of NASCAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • i do not have a favorite Storm moment- all storm moments are memorable. She is the total package with her class, attitude, knowledge and creativity. I strive to be like her one day!
  • Every Storm Bandit moment is a good Storm Bandit moment :)
  • I always look forward to her latest avatar.

She always stands up for the people who get trolled.
  • Mine is when she told me that I have a good looking husband. I, of course, know that he's hot. But, it's nice to hear from elsewhere, too. As long as it's not from some chick around here that's hitting on him! LOL! We love Storm Bandit and her ever-changing avatars!
  • Her loyalty to her driver, Robby Gordon. It rivals my loyalty to the good ol #43. I respect loyalty....it's rare in our sport nowadays. Bandwagons seem to be the new norm.

    Just an opinion as always.
  • I have been gone for too long to know what any of you are talking about...
  • mine is: we talk on the phone almost everyday.
  • Really any of the answers that she gives. I really enjoy her loyalty to Robby Gordon. He doesn't seem to ever get as much attention as he should. Being an owner/driver is pretty tough these days, but he seems to handle the job pretty well. I'm glad to see a loyal fan of his here.
  • I absolutely love her passion and loyalty for Nascar and her driver. There is not a bigger fan or a friend you could ever have bar none. Her love for animals hit home with me. She has two of the prettiest German Shepherds I have ever seen. I advise anyone that even thinks about fooling with her in here to DONT DO IT! You will be very very sorry.

<<<Bows to the greatness of Storm Bandit
  • She is scary, on the battle field against Trolls!

    SHE IS, Warrior Storm Bandit!!!
  • can't think of any particular moment, but she's 1 of only 3 people on YA that i consider to be a friend.
  • I respect the fact that she likes Robby Gordon as her favorite driver. That tells a lot about a person right there. Not afraid to stand out from the crowd and a very strong person in general. I like her interests outside of racing even more but you did ask for our favorite NASCAR Nation moment.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • she is always the first on to help with the troll situation, maybe she should be the trollerminatorrun starlight
  • What is your favorite Elliott Sadler moment?

    May be...

  • I would have to say when he had his nasty flip towards the end of a race ( i wanna say in 03,) he was in the M&Ms car... heck it might have even been at Dega ... but how he walked away from that...
  • I guess watching him in Loudon last year coming in 5th and cheering for him when everyone around me was cheering for Kurt Busch who won that rained out race. Poor Elliot wasn;'t in the top 10 much last year and rarely in the top 5 so that made it pretty special. It was a fun time.
  • .... I'll predict that my favorite moment will be when he is in victory lane this weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • When he flipped at Dega in 04 (not 03) because it was so awesome he skidded across the finish line after a crazy finish where Jr. won.
  • to show that he is crazy i will always remember him on Trackside Live and diving into the crowd at the spur of the moment the crowd did not expect it and he just fell off the stage and that was the end of the show. You saw Larry Mac and Jeff and Steve get up and go after him in the closing shot but that was it. I was so upset because thought he had gotten hurt but he qualified and raced that weekend. it may not qualify for my most favorite moment but it is my most memorable.
  • The FACT that he is part of RPM, now that's a team!!!
  • His win at Texas, the nasty flip at Dega, the commercial with the Tylenol "Rapid release", he said "Rabbit release"!!
  • His first win at Bristol and the Wood Brothers first win in many years. I never thought he could hold on with those old tires, but he did. Although it wasn't a great moment, I remember when he flipped over and over in the 38 car at Talladega.
  • The year escapes my mind this morning, but he was having a horrible year and had flipped his car a number of times during the year and after flipping again at Dega, in his interview he said that his team needed to stick some decals on the underside of the car because it was getting more TV time than being on the ground right-side up. Classic.
  • Easy, this past weekend praying for the rain! Too bad it came a lap late. I'd say his Dual wins were pretty good too. I actually missed his Dual win in 2006 because I was driving down to Daytona to see him finish 4th.
  • I like how he had to threaten legal action to keep his ride for this season. AJ Allmendinger should be running a full schedule and Sadler should be watching from the stands.
  • Master of Disguise commercial..
  • I was @ Talladega for both of his rollovers. I know they aren't Elliotts favorite moments, but they are mine. His first one on the backstretch we didn't get to see except for on the jumbo tv in the infield.. but the one on the last lap going across the finish line.. MAN, that was awesome. Here are the pics we took of the finish. I was so durn happy the button stuck and took 3 quick snap shots in a row. these 2 were the best

    http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w243/...
    http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w243/...
  • My favorite moment was when he was leading the 500 last week. At that point, I kind of wanted it to rain so he could win the race. Usually I pull for my main favorite, but I really wanted Elliott to get the win at that point. I hope the strong start leads to a great season.
  • Unfortunately that wreck at Talledega in the M&M's car. The good thing was he walked away unharmed.
  • Glad to see him win his first win in the #21 at Bristol too bad it came at the expense of my beloved #43...but was glad to see the Woods in victory lane and battling the #43 for the win...brought back great memories of the #43 vs #21 back in the 70's.

To me that's my favorite moment. Just an opinion as always.
  • I would have said his dive into the audience on speed, but last week, the emotion that he showed after the race was heartwrenching...
  • Talladega ~ 2003~ All of those nasty flips. It seemed as though he was going thru a run of bad luck with lots of flips. Thankfully he never got hurt.official football kits

  • Deadbeatmom.info

I really like kids and I hate seeing these deadbeat moms running off and taking their kids from their real fathers and dragging them from one useless interacial relationship to another just because they can use a man and divorce him for his money. It's devastating on these kids. It causes homosexuality and mental disorders in these kids and behavioral problems. I strongly believe this is a cause of ADD or ADHD because these kids learn at an early age to just turn the world off because they can't do anything about their deadbeat moms. The courts all favor the females in child custody cases and the males have very little chances at raising his kids in a normal setting.

I think the only hope for these kids is the introduction of the ideas of deadbeat moms and to have the support of a website like www.deadbeatmom.info would be a great way of drawing support for these helpless children.

    Good question Tazer
  • i figured that one out when i was like 12 lol, mine would be Harley-Davidson because i love Harleys and used to work at a Harley dealership, of course the car would mainly be black and orange, the back between the tail lights would be something like "ride free..ride behind me" or something like that lol, my number would probably be "03" because it was 1903 with the first Harley came out, and don't worry i said "03" not "3" so i wouldn't try to get Dale's number even though they won't let anybody else have it anymore, i respect Dale way to much to try to take his number

  • This announcement followed Jeff's decision to take advantage of the Presidents scheme to employ inner city youth's. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths in the inner city were able to remove a set of wheels in less than six seconds without the proper equipment., where as Gordon's crew could only do it in eight seconds.with thousands of dollars of equipment
It was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Gordon's team as most races are won and or lost in the pits. However Gordon got more than he bargained for. At the first practice session not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all four wheels in under six seconds but within twelve seconds they also changed the paint scheme, altered the vin number and sold the car to Kasey Kane for ten cases of Bud, a bag of weed ,and some photos of his ex wife in the shower.
this was not intended to offend any Gordon Fans, but is for entertainment purposes only.wifi tungsten t3

The last race, was the only race a sitting President has ever attended. Ronald Regan was there.
  • Perhaps tom p is confused with the last race The King ever won when he referred to President Reagan's attendance, in 1984.
What's it gonna take for the team to win one?
  • Yep the Hooters 500!!!! (Atlanta Motor Speedway!!!)

    Never forget a HOOTER!!!!

    He finished 35th
  • 1992 - I remember because his last race was Jeff Gordon's first race. It was called the fan appreciation tour.
  • 1992
  • Ah, O.F. it was the saddest year of my life 1992. The Richard Petty Fan Appreciation Tour was what he called his last season. I got one of his little diecast cars from every race. It had some bright points that season I loved it when he started 2nd in the Firecracker 400 and went on to lead some laps. Was sad and disappointed that he went out in a "blaze of glory". Long live the KIng!

    Just an opinion as always.

  • Should track owners keep their mouths shut and heed to the advice of NASCAR'S most popular driver?

    May be...

  • I dont quite know what Lil easy said but there is one thing that will remain constant..the fans will always follow what the drivers want to do. Forget about the track owners, who essentially do nothing besides make money off of our favorite drivers..its all about the drivers opinons and what they think is right for the sport, they are the ones behind the wheel!! haha and if Junior says it..u know his fans are gonna follow!!!
  • what advice would that be???
  • When I first read this question I thought to myself "Here we go again". After you posted the link, the question made more sense to me.

I read that article a few days ago, and agree with some of the points that Jr made. Track owners need to do more to promote their own buisiness. Drivers/car owners already do their part just by being there, conducting interviews, autograph signings and other fan contact. If the fans aren't showing up, perhaps the answer lies in economic reasons as opposed to promotional reasons.

    1) Lower ticket prices.
    2) Stop charging for parking, or at least charge less. I mean, how long does it really take to recoup the cost of making a parking lot? I understand you have upkeep, but WOW!
    3) Food sales are way too expensive. We aren't getting a "Red Robin" burger, so why do we have to pay for one?
  • I don't think they should keep their mouths shut but I do think they should listen to him. He knows what he is talking about.
  • does "most popular" mean "most wise"?? i think not. sure it costs alot to go to the races so on and so forth, but anybody that thinks that e's word is gold needs to wake up. damn right he could shoot a 30 second ad from home with the millions of dollars that he has won from the same body that he bashes, wake the hell up. i'm almost positive that the current recession has nothing to do with the poor track attendance. i'm almost positive that there is a contract that almighty jr. can tear up if he wants to!!! i bet that happens, yeah right! don't bite the hand that feeds you!!!
  • No more price gouging of race fans?? Isn't that un-Constitutional, or something?? It's been going on since the sixties that I know of..
You guys are right about it being a business, and it always has been..
The real problem here is that NASCAR has gone from a fan supported
business, to a corporate supported business, and in the process left
the fans out in the cold...
Over the years I've seen areas on the race track go from fan oriented use
to corporate use (separate sections baring the general public) so big businesses
that can afford them, can entertain there employees, and clients.. For the most part,
these folks will never be race fans.. It's a one time deal for them.. NASCAR liked this
relationship with companies because as a general rule, they payed allot of money
to NASCAR, and didn't demand much at all, and the sport got wealthy, and everyone
was happy, and stuffed with cash ... But maybe not the fans that supported the sport all along...
Now those companies with the big bucks are either gone, or just doing some belt
tightening, and NASCAR wants it's fan base back... And Jr (if he's this good of a businessman,
we may have to stop calling him that) thinks the Frances, Penskes, Smiths, of the industry
need to make long term investments in hotels, and I imagine other fan oriented businesses
so they can increase competition, and bring down prices...
I sure hope someone lets me in on the ground floor of that one..
  • I agree with Jr on this one. I think these drivers are as accessible as any athletes are in any sport. I would go to 6-8 more races a year if I could afford to.
  • Thanx..
Can you imagine a hotel that has it's bell hops
dressed the same as Jr's pit crew..?? lol Report Abuse
  • Yes the track owners have to promote the events at their tracks, but so do the teams and drivers. What has made NASCAR this successful is the way they have all worked together to promote the sport.

Hotel prices? There's much more to the cost of attending a race that the cost of a hotel, if you even stay in one. Many people have RV's or camp when they attend races.

So Jr. thinks that it should be more affordable for a family to go to a race. Does that mean he would race for half the purse money every week if those savings were passed on to the fans? Unless the answer to that question is yes then he should just shut up and drive.
  • Junior does make good points. What more can the drivers do to bring the fans back? They already put their lives on the line every week, and they do have other commitments, such as testing, media obligations, practice, racing, and they have to be with their families at some point during the course of the week. Track owners should be shouldering most of the load to bring the fans out. That is what they are in the business of, is it not?
  • I think so! He knows whats best for the sport.
  • What "Junior" doesn't understand is that crybaby drivers are alienating the fans as much as anything, so maybe he should keep his punk-mouth shut, as well.
  • Dale Jr. may be the smartest man in NASCAR
  • No,,, Dale Jr is a doink. NASCAR has ran just fine before him, and run just fine yrs from now.
Rules need to go both ways, not just in favor of Dale Jr.
  • I think that he has a good point, it isn't cheap to go to a NASCAR race. I think that there is only so much that the drivers can do. It comes down to if people have the money or not. I know that I would go to the race in Sonoma and take my kids and fly same day to the race in Fontana in the fall and maybe the truck race in the spring.

This year it will be a lot different. With having to pay for things (labs, organizers and other stuff) for my kids public education (since they are cutting the school budget) and trying to save some cash, we are only going (most likely) to Friday at Sonoma.

Lower the tickets prices by about 40% and people will come.
  • I agree with a lot of what he is saying. A while back he was complaining about the cost to go see a race. It can set a family of four back over a thousand dollars.

Maybe if the drivers "boycotted" the tracks that are blatant about over charging, there would be change. And I don't mean not showing up to race. Maybe just telling it like it is. Don't risk your mortgage to go to a race, have the drivers tell them to stay home and save their money. Once the track owners, and those fata$$"s Helton and France feel a pinch in their pockets. Things will change fast.
  • Dude, THANK YOU! You're absolutely right. Plus, what Jr says is the truth. You can trust him for what he says.chataugua air

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

    May be...

  • I've already moved on, to bad others can't.. Daytona 500 is history, its time for more races.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • The past is the past and there's nothing we can do anything about it.
  • Wasn't that race on Sunday....Time to forward......
  • Thank You, yes I moved on, it happens almost every week no matter what drivers are involved. Drivers do dumb things at times, bring on California.
  • moved on from daytona days ago and am moving forward to being at the auto club speedway this weekend.
  • I have watched that wreck over & over, & my thought is that after Vickers run Jr. down under the double yellow lines, he ( Vickers) let off the throttle to watch Jr. spin out & when Jr. didn`t spin & regained control of his ride, he came back up on the track & Vickers had not regained his momentum which is what caused the wreck. Just my opinion from what I could see. How could Jr. get pushed down that far & come back up the track after almost being in the grass & still be all over Vickers.
  • Bumping and rubbin has been going on since the start of Nascar. Jr is not the first to be responsible for a wreck and he dang sure won't be the last. The race is over move on to Fontana. Of course Jr never does good here so we will see.
  • THANK YOU
i am sure there will be other wrecks through out the year where a driver we don't care for takes out one that we like and visa verse..
This was the first of many this season// the main thing is no one got hurt real bad
  • Because He is, who He is, everything associated with Him is ALWAYS, going to be bigger. the expectations, the good news and, the bad. You just have to take it as a whole.
  • I'm already on my way to California & I've got some flowers in my hair. It was the 1st. race of the season and I can't wait to see what happens when someone else has the same thing happen to them. Interesting that most of the bashing wasn't by members of Nascar Nation. ~Peace~

Great post Tazer, good for you!
  • when a wreck involves Jr. it's "just race'n"

but when Jr. causes a wreck, he's no talent, nothing like his dad, over rated yada yada yada...

    crap happens
  • Its all because its Dale EARNDHART Jr.
    Its just the last name..
He has alot of talent i cant disagree about that. But its just alot of hype about something thats soooo tiny!
  • I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he's the guy that is on all the commercials, and all the tshirts. If I were to ask my parents(not nascar fans) who the best driver in nascar is, they would probably say Dale Earnhart Jr, because he is the only driver they hear about on a regular basis. He recieves way too much attention, both good and bad. No, he doesn't deserve as much criticism as he gets, but he doesn't deserve as much praise as he gets either. I"m not saying hes a bad driver(even though he looked far from a good one at daytona) but he's never done anything really impressive in the sport. Jimmie Johnson could potentially become arguably the sports most dominant driver of all time after this season, and he doesn't receive a quarter of the media attention that Jr does. A large part of the reason so many people hate him is because of people that post things like "Jr is the king of Nascar". As some of the older fans said, Richard Petty is and always will be the King. The next closest thing on the track right now would be Jimmie Johnson, and I am not a Johnson fan.
  • well jr. is a the **** and anytime a wrecks happens he is blamed and they say it was on purpose just like his old man
and i agree time to move on!
  • I think they are just making a big about it because it was dale that caused the wreck.. Hes gonna take alot of heat simply because of who he is. also it was the first race of the season and there hasnt been anything else really to talk about. it will all blow over soon though.
  • ive been thinking why is everyone making this a big deal

junior is not the only one to ever cause a big one
ive seen way worse and i know its daytona but for christs sake
i know i was pissed a couple days ago but cant we just move on?
  • i know , right?
  • "We" can, but "they" can't. "They " want to talk about NASCARs most popular driver.
  • You are correct sir !!!!!!! It is over lets go to the next race.
  • there has been worse in the past and will probably be worse in the future so just forget about it and get ready for California!!!

  • no. thanx4the info
  • Thanks-didn't know that. If Vickers doesn't grow up and get over it, he's going to be watching, not driving. Maybe he forgot he crashed Jr at Talladega in 2006 because he didn't know how to bump draft.
  • Dick-ers is going to end up like----Buckshot Jones- unemployed... if he keeps driving the way he does.
  • Yeah I did, saw it today.

  • Are other NASCAR drivers and fans jealous the Dale Jr. is the KING of the sport?

    May be...

  • I'll stick with results over a vote some ignorant fans make
  • Yea I'm jealous. I wish Ryan Newman could get the love that Jr. gets.
  • If my driver was that popular, I'd have to jump bandwagons.
  • King, really? he must have inherited it because I don't think ya can be a king by sucking
  • Vickers prays to be like JR when his mom tucks him in at night!
  • First off, Go Browns!

Second off, I seriously doubt any adult man wants to be called, "Little E." I've always hated that name for him. He's 34 years old, seriously.

Anyway, it's natural that people like him. His dad was popular and so a lot of his fans moved on to Jr when Sr died. A lot of women think he's good looking (not me) and a lot of people like his personality.

I personally don't like him, but there's a method to my madness. My mom is a Jr. fan and it's a friendly rivalry.
  • I could care less. Go Matt Kenseth
  • He hasn't exactly lived up to expectations, but continues to stay on top as the most liked and popular driver.

    Go Little E
  • Little -e wouldn't make a pimple on a race car drivers BUTT! although after daytona most people agree he is helluva a hemorrhoid! He has had the best equipment his hole career and hasn't done anything with it .he should have won at least 2 champ. already and he has trouble even being in the top 12. Good thing he has daddys name or hed be a door greeter at the local wal-mart!! THE KING ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE [RICHARD PETTY]
  • King of the sport? Unless he has 7 Championships, 200 victories, 200+ as an owner, no Jr. is NOT the KIng of the sport. That title belongs to the REAL King, Richard Petty. He is staying on top as most popular because some of his fans, not all, are blinded by his last name. In 8 seasons, what has Jr. really accomplished? Granted my driver hasn't been doing all that well in that time, but his career before tat speaks for itself.
  • maybe so but i dont think non Jr. fans actually care because being most popular doesnt mean anything until you show up and win races and championships =D
  • he has a long way to go to catch Bill Elliott in popular driver awards and being popular does not win championships which JR has never been close to i like JR but calling him the King of the sport makes you sound like a complete idiot because anyone who knows anything at all about Nascar knows that Richard Petty is and always will be the King
  • I think he probably deserves it, but probably because he is my driver! lol but he's a good guy and good driver so I love em'

    GO JR!!! #88
  • WHAT ????????????
  • Not sure about the drivers, but the fans? No.
If I wanted to be a fan of a popular driver, I would be.
  • i am not jealous. They are jealous of his money not driving.
People are jealous of my gold cow bell, not my milk.
  • Please finish the question King of what sport? Would that be cry babing, cheating , basting in his fathers name or pretending to be a river of a stock car? Honest I doubt he can be the king of his throne in the john without screwing it up.
  • the other drivers? no. fans? well if some of hater nation here on YA are any indication, then yes. some of these haters need serious help.
  • To bad J.Johnson owns nascar
  • I think some are - like crybaby Kyle
  • Don't know about the other drivers, but I could care less.

Richard Petty's the "King" of the sport, by the way. I won't repeat his stats since another poster has already done that.
  • king of the sport..lol....if hes king then he has all the little pawns kicking his ***...check matebuccaneer dolphin
  • Kurt Busch finished 10th but is 11th in the standings WHY?

    May be...

  • It's all based on points.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/sprint/ra...
  • If you noticed coming around on Lap 128...out of the blue he decided to try for the first time in his career a Right turn...just out of the blue...
  • I haven't looked at the standing's but he didn't get any 'bonus' points, like others did, for leading a lap or leading the most(like his brother Kyle) or winning. Therefore he can easily be 11th in the standing's even though he finished 10th in the 500.
  • same reason kyle busch finished 41st but is in 38th position--bonus points. kyle led a lap (5 points) and the most laps (5 more points) and that moved him ahead of mayfield, vickers, and menard in the standings as the difference in points between those positions is 3 points. kurt, on the other hand, didn't lead any laps and for those finishing 6-10th, they are separated by 4 points. truex had five bonus points so he moved ahead of kurt by 1.
  • because of the points distribution
  • It boiled down to bonus points. Truex led some laps got a extra 5 and Kurt lead 0 and got no bonus points. He will be back in the top ten in points before you know it. Thanks, I didn't know this until I read your question. Thanks as always Mr Biner.drug test forums

  • F1 Fans: Who will get the call for the US F1 Team?

    May be...

  • Whichever drivers will do us proud. I hope Marco Andretti is in the mix. Danica would be a pure publicity stunt, but the team would need the revenue she would bring in. I have no problem with Danica. I just find her to be a little too arrogant when you consider she hasn't really done sh*t. Kind of like Ralf Schumacher, but to the 3rd power of misplaced hubris. Tripple cocky. Stuck up times 3 lol.
  • .

We need Danica Double Dozy D's for the glAmour. After all isn't that what F1 is all about?

Then we'll have Monaco, Stingeypore, the Start Line Laviscious Laydies and alSo Danica's Dozy D's!! How about that for glAmour, eh!!!

Won't change anything for me though. I'll still be here watching the F1 as usual; sitting next to my 70's Lava Lamp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glitter_lam... wearing my three button high waisters and stax shoes, with a background of Sweet and Gary Glitter on 8-track!

F1 - It's ALL done in THE BEST POSSIBLE TASTE!!!!

    .
  • Scott Speed is the only american with F1 experience but he wasnt very good in Torro Rosso I doubt he will do better now.

I dont think Danica Patrick would be a good F1 driver, I'm all about feminism but I dont think she's got what it takes. The USF1 team only want her for commercial use.

Some possible candidates would be Robert Doornbos, in 2006 he was the 3rd rider of Redbull Racing he raced 3 races and finished 12th, 13th & 12th. Not very impressive but he has a lot of potential and would surely progress if he got more time to test.

And Barrichello or Button should stay and drive for an F1 team.
  • I heard that they were looking at Danica because she can pull a headline, also they were looking at Scott Speed due to previous F1 experience. They said they really wanted American drivers so they have a chance to experience F1.
I'm from Australia and I don't know many American drivers so I can't comment further.
  • Well USF1 have come out and stated that they want to run American Drivers, and as I don't think Danica Patrick is anywhere near being one of the best in her current series, stepping up to F1 could and probably would be disastrous (I thinking along the lines of the Inoue's, Deletraz's, Lavaggi's... two of which are good sports car racers now, but NOT F1 class at all)

My two candidates for a 2010 race seat would be the two youngsters with the famous names and talent to match... Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal. Both are ambitious young individuals who have inherited a great deal of talent from their father's, and aren't too ingratiated in the American scene yet to have missed the boat internationally due to their youth. Andretti has impressed a little in A1GP which is quite competitive, and young Rahal won on his debut on a street track and has shown interest in F1 in the past. Their names alone also give F1 some more glamour (as if it needs it!!) as we'd have a bunch of star-names in the Championship... Rosberg, Senna (maybe), Piquet, Nakajima... Andretti... Rahal!?! Sounds a lot better than having a woman really for the sake of her being a woman, because her talent is nowhere near what is required.

Watching 'road course' races in IndyCar often gives away who is best, and she has been nowhere in them... whereas the top names in the series always are... Dixon, Andretti, Wilson, Rahal, Castroneves, Briscoe..

I think with the right drivers, this could be a very good advert for diversifying internationally in F1, as the Euro-centricity of the teams needs some competition.
  • Rumors are swirling about...Danica Patrick (I would rather not rant about this one, too much too say)

  • What happened between Dale Jr. & Jeff Burton after the Daytona 500?

    May be...

  • that article is soooo true
  • junior hung him out to dry on a restart, something that is done almost every lap of a restrictor plate race. burton went backwards and wrecked through no one fault but his own 2 or 3 laps later. and then for some reason i'll never understand, burton blamed his wreck on junior for hanging him out to dry laps earlier.
  • Number one it was not burton it was vickers and Jr did not crash him vickers being the ***** he was hit him
  • Tbone is right I haven't heard hardly anything about this. I think it was the worst race I have ever seen.
  • Burton thinks his middle name is Saftey & probably tried to sit him down afterwards
  • Jr forced him three wide into the turn putting Burton into the wall. Jeff was fuming.. I find it odd no one is talking about that one.
  • Jr took burton 3 wide after a restart and burton got shuffled to the back and eventually wrecked. He was mad that jr didn't help him but it really isn't his place to help him when your down a lap and need to go.

Burton is usually a good driver but how can he blame someone else for his own wreck when jr was at the front when that happened.
  • I'm not completely sure; something about making Burton have to go 3 wide on a restart and crashing. If Burton complained, it must've been bad.
  • Burton hit the wall because of Jr.

    What about Jamie Mcmurray?

    May be...

  • No way do you keep McMurray over Ragan. Ragan holds far more promise than Jamie. I'd dump Jamie.
  • He should have won the shootout. Harvickis illegal.
  • I think that Jamie will make the chase this year and he will stay with Roush. I think that Ragan will leave at the end of the season.
  • He will have a good chance at making the chase now that Donnie Wingo is back on his pit box. I don't think it really matters who stays and who goes at the end of the year because the odd man out will probably just end up at Yates anyway. Jack and Rick both know how to work the system and exploit any loopholes in it.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • Jamie is making serious strides towards the upper echelon of NASCAR. He has paid his dues and I think he has great potential. David Ragan also has great potential but at this point if I had to keep just one; McMurray is a bit more proven..

Jamie McMurray---7 wins in 170 starts
David Ragan------0 Wins in 76 Starts (Rousch Equipment)
  • Experts say Jaime Mac will win a couple of races. If that's the fact, my poor judgement on Ragan's potential will pay off since Ragan will struggle.
  • get rid of him,hes another brian vickers.
  • i like jamie mcmurray..jamie would win more races but his pit crew puts him behind the 8 ball alot....he losses spots everytime in comes in...his pitstop time runs anywhere 16 to alittle over 17 sec..on a 4 tire change....but having wingo back at his pitbox will help...he won rookie of the year in 2004 and he was driving a dodge....and wingo was his crew chief
  • Do u think Roush racing will keep keep Jamie Mac and get rid of Ragan or will they get rid of Jamie? I believe this is Jamies year to make the chase. What do u think?
  • he is a fantastic young driver that will never be without a seat on one of the top 4 teams and jack is no rookie at picking keepers

  • Well Fontana is a road course so you have to go with the likes of Montoya or any of the open wheel guys they throw in, heck Busch won them both last year. I am not sure yet.

I am glad to see your wearing the Prez's #19. I just spoke with him and he's a little upset understandably....nasty self serving trolls, where is that detonator button?

    >>>Edit: Not sure where i am today. It's not a road course...LOL! To much enjoying of the 500 yesterday...LOL!

Nice to see all the support for the only person i know that is a bigger Sadler fan than me. i am in a state of lost, denial and confusion.
  • This year in my picking of winners I am going outside the people who always win. I am so tired of one person or 2 people winning all the time so I am spreading around some other choices. I am going with Reed Sorenson as the winner at California. And it is raining alot so hopefully the storms will be blown out by then.
  • I think Biffle, McMurray & the whole Roush stable will do great there as they always do.

Im outraged at this with the Prez. He is the best person in here and they take him away. BS!! Pure BS!!
  • Carl's won at Fontana before, and so has Kenseth, but I hope Sadler wins.

As for the hot dog wrapper problem, well, they've had months to work on it <LOL.> We can only hope.

I hope Prez comes back soon. Freakin' trolls.
  • It F*ckin Sucks I'm sorry but Prez was Generous and everything and this happens.
  • Kenseth in Cali, hot dog wrapper problem will still be a problem!
  • I think Harvick will win. They have prob. eliminated the wrappers.
    Who is Prez?
  • We're coming up on California next week. Who are your favorites to win and do you think they'll have fixed the hot dog wrapper problem by this time?

    --Also--

I'm wearing this Elliott Sadler avatar until Prez gets back.
  • Im infamously staying with Jamie McMurray, if it wasn't for that wreck yesterday I think he would have won it, so I'm sticking with him. As for the wrapper problem, it will probably remain a problem.

And where did Prez go? Did I miss something?

Edit: I just found out! I am so mad right now, Prez is one of the best people in this section. I am outraged:(
  • Matt is always good there but so are his teammates in the 99 and 16 cars. This is also one of Jimmie's most consistant tracks and he has won there 2 of the last 3 races. I'd take those 4 against the field in a bet. I sure hope the race isn't influenced again by hotdog wrappers.

  • it wouldnt surprise me as pretty much all artists at big events do some sort of lip synching or recording over their actual performances. Except for the dude singing the national anthem who was absolutely horrible
  • The last song he was playing he was doing a lead and he wasn't too stable, and then the last note he did a power chord with a bunch of sustain, except for when he grabbed the guitar of himself he had his hand across the strings and the guitar was still making a clean sound. Usually when you muffle the strings it would make a horrible sound, and then his roadie already had taken his guitar.
  • yes, he played in my city, and I do stage hand work. he played the concert to a record player.air tran check in

I missed the end of the race,What place did Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch come in?

  • What the **** Jr. missed his pits.. Why?

    May be...

  • He's not a smart man. Been sayin it for years and just being honest. Only so much a crew chief can do barring a brain transplant. He's been doing that stuff for years.
  • His car was too fast or he just didnt see his pit
  • his car was to fast and he missed the pit
  • His daddy wasn't there to show him how.
  • First a miss then out side the box he isn't having a great day today
  • it must be tony eurys fault.. oh thats right hes not driving.. um he just doesnt have a whole lot of talent' sorry there junebug lol
  • I guess no testing in the off season didn't help him, dang. He needs to re-do pit stops 101. I don't care how he has to practice you can do this in a golf cart in between races. I'm sure he will get it together, again the Crew Chief (who I'm not a big fan of) is not much help at all...This will pass by the next race, i'm sure.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • thats pathetic, jr is sub par, he proved it today Report Abuse
  • Over thinking
    Not thinking
Crew did not have the sign in the right place
    going to fast
    nerves
  • if he was too fast he would have been penalized... anyway i dont think they counted him in...
  • Because he's dumb.
  • he went to fastbest sd card brand
  • How serious is F1 in your family?

    May be...

  • I'm the only one in my apartment, so I'm the only F1 nut in this household lol. I can tell you a story way back in 2000 during the Japanese GP. As usual SpeedTV was broadcasting the race and qualifying live and as you know Harrison the Pacific races are shown at close to midnight to people in the USA. While I was working the overnight shift during the qually I pretty much forced my ex g/f to watch the coverage and give me feedback whenever I called her, which happened to be every ten minutes lol. Here is a rough draft of how things went.

Me: Baby...how much time is left in the session?

Ex: I have no idea! Why am I watching this? Aren't you recording it?

Me: Don't worry about that! Who's on track now?

Ex: The Schumacher dude in the red car. I like the red cars. Is that why he wins so much? His car looks faster than the others.

Me: Hey love we want the silver and black car to win...How is Mika doing?

Ex: Speak for yourself. I like the red car. Who is Mika? All I know is that the Schumacher man is gonna win tomorrow, just because you are forcing me to watch this for you.

    'Click'

Her words turned out to be prophetic. I was off work the next night and MS won the WDC. Seeing how happy he was helped ease the disappointment a little. I've never seen a driver so happy to win.
  • My Mum loves F1, I do and 1 of my Cousin's do, the rest hate it.
My Mum fell in love with James Hunt back in the day.
  • Is it not a big deal?
Is it a HUGE deal (like my family)?

What is really crazy about it?

    I can tell you mine
Me and my dad love Lewis Hamilton
I for one, have always liked McLaren (Mikka)
    But, my dad HATES McLaren
If I were to buy a Mercedes, who would kill me...no joke
I joke about it all the time with him

    What is you crazy story?
  • My family is far away from me now, but am living with another family now, and we all there are like crazy for F1, even when Shumi left we still wake up late at night to watch it, when the race is mid day time, our time, some dont go to work to watch it, some will call sick and dont go to school, its a crazy expensive sports but everyone like it.

    Love
  • My dad has been an F1 fan since the 60's and has met drivers Pedro Rodriguez and Jackie Stewart. He told me about F1 in 1999 at Indianapolis when we heard about F1 having a GP there. Back then, I was into the American open-wheel racing (which was known at CART; now is called Indycar).

When our cable received Speedtv for the first time, my dad saw that they had F1 and he showed me the race and at the time, I wasn't really into it, but when the American open-wheel racing started to die down, I turned my interest into F1 and the next thing I know, I was hooked.

My dad took myself and my brother to Indy for the first USGP and I just completely fell in love with the sport.

My brother likes F1 too, but not so much like myself. My sister doesn't like to watch races, but she has gone to 3 USGP's as a favor to my dad. My mom watches F1, but she has trouble understanding what is going on.

My family in general is all about racing, but F1 is the top sport to watch in my household!
  • my family hate F1 as a whole, and especially Schumy when he nwas dominating loooolcalling paging
  • Who is the best crew chief in the Sprint cup series right now barring Chad Knaus?

    May be...

  • So not including Chad Knaus? no matter what hes #1 in recent years.

Not including him my next 2 are..
    Greg Zipadelli
Frank Stoddard (give him a better driver than Boris Said)
  • Either Zippy on the #20 or Steve Addington on the #18.
  • Obviously it's Carl Edwards crew chief, can't think of his name.
  • Kevin Bono Manion
  • Pat Tryson is first and Scott Miller is also very good.
  • I'll give it to Steve Addington right now. If Zippy is able to get the 20 back to victory lane with Joey Logano, he will pass Addington.

I also have to give Tony Eury Jr. a call as a good crew chief. Not because he is great at setting up the car or anything. Instead, I give him a call for putting up with all the criticism from Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jr Nation. He always gets dumped on, and he handles it with class.
  • probably not spelled right but steve addington
  • Has to be Zippy on the #20 team. He defintely in my opinion is the #2 man in our sport. Just an opinion as always.
  • And give your second best crew chief too. Thank you and good luck to your drivers!
  • It's a toss up between Zippy and Addington, but with Zippy/Tony and with Addington/Kyle..it's been drivers who effectively communicate the car's needs and gives the right feedback to keep it competitive throughout the race. Joey doesn't have that ability yet, so if Zippy can keep him competitive, I gotta give it to him.
Honorable mention to Addington though, the man's got nerves of steele.
  • Greg Zippedeli, I just wish he would have went on with Tony Stewart.
  • Bob Osborn, he and cousin Carl seem to have it so right on...and your boy's Pat Tryson is right up there also..But I'd say Bob Osborn and Carl are a match thats gonna get a championship pretty soon..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Bob Osborne, crew chief on the 99. You don't win that many races, and finish 2nd in the standings without a good man on top of the pit box. Obviously Knaus is top dog right now, but Osborne is no slouch. Think how many races Edwards hasn't just won, but destroyed the field all day. And it wasn't just last year.

As a side note my pick for " Best Crew Chief Name " is a dead heat between Bootie Barker, and Donnie Wingo. They are the " Dick Trickle " of crew chief names.
  • bootie Barker and hopefully Greg Irwin
  • Best next to Chad Knaus ~ Zippy of course. My 2nd best would be Tony Eury Jr. or Steve Addington. It's sure going to be different not hearing Smoke & Zippy talkin back n forth. It should be a very interesting year.
  • Bootie Barker
  • 2nd to chad knaus,id say steve letarte.
  • For me it is a tossup between Zippy amd Bootie. Isn't it funny how even crew chiefs have their own fans nowadays?castlevania wav files
  • Who is your "King", Elvis Presley or Richard Petty?

    May be...

  • Not much of a NASCAR fan, but Richard is the once and future king of NASCAR.

Mario Andretti was the best overall racer to ever live though.
  • King Richard Petty of course!

    Just an opinion as always.
  • 43 STP...Richard Petty is my King.
  • Elvis
  • both...richard is the king of nascar, elvis is the king of rock and roll.
  • Definitely Richard Petty. But I met him in Dover so I'm kind of biased.
  • BB King
  • Richard Petty I was born after Elvis's Time
  • Richard Petty for sure!
  • Richard Petty FTW.
  • NO ONE can sing like Elvis, but I guess very few people can drive like Richard Petty.
  • Don King is my king
  • Richard Petty.
  • God. Enjoy the race tomorrow.
  • When i here the word King if think of Richard Petty- i adore Elvis and he also deserves the nickname. I do not think that King Richard thinks of himself when he hears the word so it just shows you how humble he really is. I am sure he does not mind sharing the nickname with the King of R&R.
  • Richard Petty!
  • I saw Elvis from the front row in Hawaii, but King Richard will always be King..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Richard.
  • Billie Jean King lol
    KIDDING!!!!!!!!!

    Petty ftw!!!!!!!!!cincinnati escorts eros
