Why do nascar drivers compete in both series?

May be...

  • NASCAR wants to make more money, so they encourage it. Plus, racers love to race and they can probably learn something for the Cup Series.
  • The difference in the two series is the car. Its a different size of engine and handling packages. The sport isn't exactly over flowing with eligible drivers. To get into these races you have to qualify. If you don't meet the qualifications, you don't race. Since there are car owners that need drivers, the guys from the Sprint Series drive for Nationwide car owners. It adds to their practice time and they get paid for it.
  • Some compete in all three national touring series.
  • The drivers get track time in the lesser series, while the Nationwide series is intended as like a stepping stone to the Cup series, where young guns and veterans alike can gain track time and/or experience.
  • flipping though the channels today i see the nascar race on espn then realize its basically ever driver i know racing even though im pretty sure they will be racing tomorrow at daytona as well but in the 500.

Why do they let drivers do that, where in ever other sport the different series/leagues are to let more less skilled drivers/players compete.

Unless there are other differences idk about between sprint and nationwide series, see as how i watch maybe 5 hours of nascar a year. So why and how are they even allowed to drive in both
  • Regardless of some of the opinions here, there is one underlying reason:

    THEY LOVE TO RACE!!

All the other stuff (ticket sales, etc.) are just spinoff benefits. I've known many of them and that is the one common thread that ties them all together. The best example I ever knew is Kenny Schrader. If you put a lawn mower engine on a baby carriage, he'd race it!

If the teams, owners, sponsors and NASCAR get something out of it, too, great. But the bottom line still remains, they just love to race, and most - if not all - would race even if they didn't make the big bucks. They are (you'll pardon the pun) driven!

    :o))
  • The Cup drivers usually do this to prepare for the Cup race on Sunday and sometimes just to have fun. But the main reason why NASCAR allows this is because it helps sells tickets to the Nationwide races. With some of the top Cup drivers in the field, I'm sure some of their fans would be willing to go to the Nationwide race to see their favorite driver. But I wish NASCAR didn't allow this. Carl Edwards is a contender in the Cup series, but has been racing full-time in Nationwide ever since he started. There are many young drivers like Landon Cassill, Bryan Clauson, and Chase Miller that deserve full-time rides and really could use the track time to gain experience.
  • Why not? I have never looked at the Nationwide Series as a minor league series, at least not the way that say AAA baseball is to the MBL. It's just another series and yes it is one tier down from the Sprint Cup Series. This series is a mix of up and comers, grizzly veterans, and current "Cup" drivers. The cars are very different. The power and speed is roughly the same. The bodies are very different. Many of the components on the car are the same such as the wheels and tires.
  • Sprint drivers run in Nationwide for the fun and practice. Nationwide drivers try to run in Cup for the money and experience.resco software
  • Any NASCAR fans know when Dish Network is going to get Speed HD?

    May be...

  • This may be the wrong forum, but man, I hate that Dish don't have Speed HD, does anyone know, or at least feels my pain?
  • I just switched from Dish to cable and I had the speed chanel on dish but I had tp bye the 200 chanel package to get, that was here in N.C. Report Abuse
  • I feel your pain! I already called and asked when they would have it. They told me it appeared that they would never have it because it was an exclusive of DirecTV. Maybe it will change in a year or so.42 akai hd monitor pdp4273m plasma
  • 2009 Daytona 500 Top 5?

    May be...

  • well it will be.. 24, 48,14,88,18or5 Chevy is the team to beat all of the HMS cars looked good so far then you add tony stewart to the mix . being they changed the right side tires due to the problems .. they might be a wild card in the mix .. the new tires might fit the setup better than the oned that were coming apart in the 125"s
  • Truex won't push Jr, but Tony, or Mark will....
Give Truex a top ten, but he won't be close enough.. Stremme won't see the end (not from the track)...
  • I'm going out on a limb but:

    Winner- Mark Martin
    2nd- Martin Truex, Jr.
    3rd- Jimmie Johnson
    4th- Kyle Busch
    5th- Bill Elliott
  • in no particular order... #18, # 26, # 83, #48, #99.....watch Jr. wreck and don't get too upset about it!
  • 1-Earnhardt
    2-Gordon
    3-Stewart
    4-Rowdy Busch
    5-Johnson
  • 1. Dale Jr.
    2. Jeff Gordon
    3. Elliott Sadler
    4. Kyle Busch
    5. Jimmie Johnson
  • well this is a restrictor plate race so with that being said anyone can come up with the win my opinion
    1. kevin harvick (he did win the shootout)
    2. dale jr
    3. jeff gordon (he is due for a good year)
    4. tony stewart( he has something to prove this year)
    5. kyle busch ( cause he is a great beginner )
  • No particular order. #19, #83, #00, #24, #14
  • hey everybody i'm back again. its time to go racing boys who do y'all

think will be the top 5 at Daytona
  • Junior, Smoke, Truex, Sadler & Harvick. No particular order. It's gonna be tough for Smoke & Newman, they have to start from the back, but ya never know.
  • 1.)Kasey Kahne
    2.)Kurt Busch
    3.)Robby Gordon
    4.)Mark Martin
    5.)Joey Logano
  • Kyle Busch
    Tony Stewart
    Dale Jr
    Mark Martin
    Jimmie Johnson
  • Smoke is sporting a new paint job and number. Good by Home Depot No. 20.

As for this year's Daytona 500 top 5.

Junior had one win last year to break the drought, but you can't be comfortable with Carl Edwards or Casey Kain in your rear view either.

If junior has a fast car, and can stay out of trouble, even though he is in 14th position to start the race, it will be a sure bet he works through the pack to finish in the top 5.

    1. Kurt Bush
    2. Tony Stewart
    3. Junior
    4. Jeff Gordon
    5. Carl Edwards
  • Take Stremme and Truex out.

    Add McMurray and Gordon.
  • 5. Jeff Gordon
    4. Martin Truex Jr.
    3. Kevin Harvick
    2. Jimmie Johnson
    1. Mark Martin
  • 1. Jeff Gordon

The others I dunno. But I have a hunch that Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, Kyle Busch, Jamie McMurray and Martin Truex, Jr. will have something in it.
  • 1) Jeff Gordon
    2) Kyle Busch
    3) Kevin Harvick
    4) Tony Stewart

  • Why is kyle busch in the 20 car right now?

    May be...

  • Nationwide Series practice probably.
  • Busch was jumping in to relay info to the 20 team, and to help out the rookie Lagano.
  • im watching practice on speed and what the hell did i miss
  • Kyle's very good at communicating to a crew chief what the car is doing. He's helping Zippy get it to where it needs to be for Joey.
Joey doesn't have that experience yet.
  • Helping to set up Joey's car, in Cup, and driving the Nationwide 20, for the point Championship..looking to cheat

Who is the one driver you think everyone will be avoiding this year?

    May be...

  • AJ Almendinger when he is racing. Or his former Red Bull teammate Scott Speed.
  • Hmm..Sadler? j/k...I've never trashed talk you in NASCAR :)

Probably Stremme after what I've been seeing thus far this season.
  • Stremme 7 Logano
  • Actually, after the Shootout, it seems smart to avoid anyone named David.
  • Same as it has been since he came Cup racing.

    Jaun Pablo Montoya
  • Reckless Robby Gordon & Juan Pablo Montoya
  • Robbie Gordon or Juan Pablo.

    Take your pick.
  • I don't know if M. Waltrip has matured yet. He's not mean, just emotional. If you mess with him he will get you back strait away. Despite his own running up the track he doesn't give much respect. But he does make the best commercials. I say just add David and Speed to your list this year.
  • John Andretti is in the field...he is good for taking out at least five cars when he bounces his hot-rod off the wall on lap five.
  • aj allmendinger
  • ROBBY GORDON IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.....
SECONDS FROM A 5 CAR PILE UP AT ALL TIMES
  • You ALWAYS have to avoid Michael Waltrip and Robby Gordon. After the second duel, I'm sure that Ryan Newman would also add David Reutimann to that list, as well.
  • David Ragan
  • "The Madman" Kyle Busch or maybe the inexperience of Joey Logano
  • My favorite Nascar driver, Robby Gordon. He helped cause the first crash in the shootout and the first crash (spinning Kurt Busch) in the first duel. But I love him anyway. Stay clear of Robby!

    http://www.robbygordonoffroad.com/
  • Lest year it was a toss up between Sam Hornish Jr. and Michael Waltrip. This year I think it will be David Stremme based on his Daytona performance.
  • Scott Speed. I actually really like the guy from what I am seeing in interviews and such but hasn't he crashed in every event this week so far...LOL!
  • I agree with David Stremme. After his performance at the shootout, I am going to he cringing whenever Jamie or Bobby goes near him. It always seems like the inevitable happens to them.
  • Scott Speed, I don't like his attitude and I bet he will just be a show off on the track if he ever gets the chance.
  • John "Crash" Andretti (if he finds a ride) and Robby Gordon.
  • I agree with you that it will be David Stremme.
  • Yeah, add JPM to last year's list. Seems like he was wrecking every other week, and collecting up good cars with him. He's likely calmed down a little, but Logano might just wear that tiarra this year. They get the setup right for him eventually, but its clear he isn't comfortable in Tony's car yet. Did you see him in practice today? He really had his hands full.
  • David Gilliland cut his own throat last year with his poor decision at Watkin's Glen and inexcusable move on Montoya at Texas. He was a feel good story, won a race in an unsponsored car in the Busch Series but his lack of self control appears to have black balled him in the cup series, at least it has for now.

edit: Oops, I read the question wrong. In the Daytona 500 the 2 drivers I would avoid racing around are David Stremme and Greg Biffle. How many times can you wreck during Speedweek? If it's one of those 2 guys the answer is as many as it takes to park it in the garage LOL I really like Greg but might have to sit him on my fantasy team this week.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • The human wrecking ball....Juan Pablo Montoya.
  • Scott Speed and Michael Waltrip.
  • anybody with yellow tap on their bumpers for starters
  • I actually think that people will be avoiding Joey Logano or Scott Speed. All things considered, I just don't think they have enough experience to be running with the big guys.
  • Unfortunately I think Scott Speed will be the one. And you always have to watch out for Robby Gordon and Waltrip.

And no offense but always I get a little nervous when Kevins around Elliot. Not because of anything he does, but it just seems like the poor guy attracts trouble, and Kevin does that good enough on his own! LOL
  • Robby Gordon cant finish a race without causing an accident
  • After seeing him in the shootout and the duels I am a little concerned about Greg Biffle.....he's been in EVERY caution so far this year.
But seriously...I agree with your Stremme statement.

    Just an opinion as always.
  • David Stremme or possibly Scott Speed (even though he just seems to get caught up in the wrecks). Maybe, in addition to rookie stripes, they should add some wrecker stripes ;).
  • Joey Lagano
    David Stremme
    Robby Gordonstandard racing transmission
  • Any words of wisdom for your driver on Sunday?

    May be...

  • Yes, STAY AWAY FROM GREG BIFFLE!!! LOL
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • GO FAST.....TURN LEFT.....
  • stay away from stremme and anyone else that seems drawn like a magnet to the 17 car!
  • Just be patient, Jeff. It's a long race. Do the best you can as you always do and show everyone what you got!
  • Just do it!!!
  • Yes indeed. Find a good drafting partner early and a better one latter.
  • don't wreck
  • Drive like you did last year. Find your teammate in the last couple of laps & finish 1-2 again! Where there's Smoke there's a Rocket!
  • go mark martin and jeff burten
  • If you ain't got the heart for this
    Do something else

    Never give up.
  • To Nascar driver, Robby Gordon. Please stay off other drivers! Good luck and have fun in the Daytona 500.
  • The Gas is on the right ! And The Drive For Five Is Still Alive !!!!!!!
  • just that kyle busch better win!!! lol, i made a bet with my daddy on it!! lol
  • Floor it and don't crash!
  • avoid other people's wrecks and YOU CAN DO IT!
  • Kepp your head down and dig and keep your car together for the end. Give the pit crew a pep talk and stay up front.
  • Yeah my words are " Punch it" & "Pedal to the Metal"!! Go # 9!!!
  • Get'R DONE!
  • Keep it low Junior, stay away from the high line unless that's the line movin! Keep your cool, ya have a lot of time. Stay away from the wrecking crew. When ya make it to the front, pedal to the metal n clean air. Drive like ya always do & make your move when the time is right.
  • Jr., I know you love riding the high line. Just be careful, and PLEASE!! keep her off the wall. We need them tires to finish the race. Remember it is a long race, we don't win the race on the first lap. Work with your teammates, and most of all have fun. Good luck Jr!!
  • Yep, find some teammates and hang out on the other side of the track for the first 400 miles and then go racin'! It's crazy to get up there and mix it up in the early stages of the wreck and get caught up in somebodys crap.
  • 2nd in Shootout, 3rd in duel. 1st in the 500! GO STEWART HAAS RACING #14....WITH NEWMAN 2nd!
  • go JR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  • Drive it like you stole it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Just what would you tell a 2 Time World Champion ?

    " S M O K E "
  • To Junior: You can do it buddy...drive like you did back in '04. Feel the fire in your belly let it pull you to victory. Enjoy the ride, stay safe and kick some azz!
  • Look Kasey, I know you want to win, but don't forget it's a long race, so keep an eye out for your teammates! Work together, and some day we just might be the next Hendrick, or Rouch, like team!
  • I would tell Bobby that he needs to grow a set and actually go for the win. Lately it seems like he's not giving it his all, he lurks too much.
  • Stay away from David Stremme.draduate jobs
  • What is the best place to play fantasy racing ?

  • The group I am in is looking good. It's called Online Dirt Racers and the number 1 Yahoo NASCAR fantasy racer in the world that we race with online (Mopar Maniac) from last year is a member of it so it should be very competitive, and also there's a guy who finished 1st out of 500 in one of the football leagues who is a part of it. Should be fun the address is:

Any haters on kyle busch winning?

    May be...

  • I think it was a great finish but he pretty much blocked the whole frikin track its annoying
  • he's my favorite and i wont lie i would love to see bill or mark martin win the 500 but im glad he won today.... 2009 champ.... kyle busch
  • i dont like him, but he did a good job blocking mark, he had guys comin from both sides, so good job
  • I'm not a fan of Busch. He won. If it was the 500 I don't think he would have. Calling him a champion? I don't think so. He's lucky he didn't get spun around in turn four. Also Earnhardt and Harvick came from the back to finish in the top ten. They all backed off to be sure each had the same car to start Sunday.
  • Nope.
    I'm thrilled!
    He's really growing on me!
I think it has something to do with the fact he's not on Hendrick.
And I kind of like his attitude.
  • it suxxx.
  • Yeah he won.. but its still too early to say hes the champ, and if you keep going around saying hes the 2009 Champ, then the same thing will happen to him that happend last year during the chase... so its up to you if you wanna jinx him.
  • Nope, not at all. We were cheering for The Dinger to make the race here today. Congrats to Rowdy Busch and his fans. This was a great race, it kept6 us on our toes here today. I like Mark Martin, but I'm having problems cheering for him. I was cheering for Juan Pablo, Dale Jr & The Dinger today.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • I can't hate on anyone that wins in exciting fasion. The fact that it was Kyle was just icing on the cake.
  • Kyle was awesome as was Jeff. Lets not jump the gun on the Kyle winning the Championship. I was all gung ho last season and look what happened that only JINX's it.

Now Sundays race is a whole new ballgame......though he is a favorite to win it I won't say YES he definitely will. There are a lot of other great drivers who want to win it as well!!!!
  • I'd never hate on Kyle..he's my fav, too.
    :)
  • I was glad to see Kyle win,I was also glad to see Jeff win.But the best thing that happened was Tony making it to the Daytona 500.Over all a great race day.
  • i want to see Ryan Newman to win not Kyle im tire of that boy
  • He made the back of that Toyota as wide as International Speedway Blvd. That young man can drive.
  • Kyle won Duel 2.
    Gordon won Duel 1.

And you declare him as the champ?
Who's got the experience? The skills? The team? And everything else Kyle doesn't have?

Gordon does.. surely, after what he's shown in the past 2 races, he has a better CHANCE to win?
  • of course there will be but i dont care
  • Hey it's a great way to start the season, for him and Jeff Gordon both, my favorite drivers, but this doesn't mean a whole lot compared to Sunday but it's an awesome way to get the season started, couldn't be better. It was some good driving by both of them and I'm glad there was a little excitement at the end of the 2nd duel.
  • I don't care who won the G-Duels. Just who made it in, and how about Scott Riggs!!! He's got a fast car!!!
  • He won fair and square and didn't wreck anyone in the process so congratulations to Kyle for the win :)infinitie car
  • Did Jeff Gordon cheat to win the race!?

    May be...

  • YOU MADE ME A GORDON FAN!!!!
Woo-hoo......Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch both had a great day!

Must suck for you JGG :)
  • HUH? At 190+ mph. Yeah, I can see how he did that to beat out 27 other cars. He even cheated by coming out fourth after the last pit stop with six laps to go. No way. Fair and square he won.
  • No. I watched the race. I didn't see any cheating by any team.
  • jeff is a Little goof he thinks he is hot but he,s not
  • No way, Jeff Gordon won that dual no cheating. And how cute was it to see him holding Ella in Victory Lane.. Well done Jeff and Congrats to the entire #24 team.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Unless being great driver is considered cheating now, No he did not.
  • No, he's just got his winning mojo back. Get used to it.
  • Pace yourself, you started drinking way to early today.
  • The catfish says no
  • Nope, he just did a great job and beat the rest. He has won many races without cheating. Today was no different.
  • I'm no fan of Gordon

but isn't that NA$CAR'$ job to figure out?
  • no but kyle did
  • I didn't see it but I doubt that anyone would cheat just to win a duel.
  • Where is the substance that invoked the question ?
Got his winning mojo back ? that was a pathetically stupid retort.
You'll see what real mojo is come the 500.
  • Stop hating and come out of the closet already.
  • No Jeff won fair and square and Im very happy for him!
  • Ugh, you gotta make some friends, man.

    And majority says no. NO.
  • Sorry, the "gay" Gordon won.

Trust me, I'm gayer than Jeff Gordon ;)
  • Yes gordon did cheat because he is ..you know.
  • .....Go back to your coloring books and leave the grown ups alone.
  • Yes he cheated. He always cheats. You wanna know how he did it?

He had his daughter driving the car.

Doesn't that just sound ridiculous? Now you know how your question sounds.
  • what's the matter with you. that was one of the best races I've seen in awhile and I'm no JG fan
  • Are we going to start this crap again that Gordon is cheating just because he won a non points race? Also the first race he won in a year and a half! There is no reason for Gordon to cheat in this race. Track position means virtually nothing here, you can go from last to first in couple laps and Viceversa. Besides Gordon is automatically locked into this race regardless what happens.
  • Dude you really need to get laid or something....He didn't Cheatfedex drop location
  • What a heck of a finish for Duel 1!!!?

    May be...

  • I didn't get to see the finish, and I have yet to find video of the finish.

    But...

    YEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!... GORDON WONNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... WHOOOOOOOOO!!!

    Sorry it's been a while. :P
  • That was exciting!!! i was cheering for Stewart, Amirola, and Logano.. wow that was exciting... the final 3 laps.

What yall think of this first duel? i hope Duel 2 is better.
  • I agree. One of the better races at Daytona.
  • Typical Daytona. Good job Joey. Stick a pie in everyones face.

    Thank goodness for Blackberry technology.
  • Was happy to see Jeff win. But was really pulling for Tony to pull it off.

Since my driver is in the second duel race. I will be pulling for him.
Right now he just had a bad pit stop. His fault. But it is early he will bounce back.
I think it will come down to Kyle and Junior.
  • Yes, it was! I'm very happy to see Jeff back in victory lane with his daughter. I know it wasn't a points race, but it has been a long time since Gordon fans have had a reason to celebrate after a race. I hope he does just as good in the 500. Logano did pretty good, too. Congrats to Jeff Gordon for the win and Scott Riggs for making the race!
  • MAN! I missed it, I have no cable, are the results up yet?!?!?! I feel so lost with out NASCAR! :(
  • Jeff Gordon cheated.
  • Great race. I was pulling for Tony, but it's cool to see Jeff get back in vl. And what an awesome job by Joey Lagono!

How cool is it two of the drivers who went winless last year win two of the first races of the season!
  • Great finish and Im stoked for the 2nd. Les get it on!!
  • Happy for Jeff and his team. Glad for Scott Riggs and Tommy Baldwin.
  • All I'm glad is Truex starts on the Pole for Daytona 500!
    What a Save he did!

Congrats to Almirola Great Run and Jeff Gordon Fans!

  • Lewis Hamilton or Felipe Massa?

    May be...

  • Who are you a fan off?
    Other choices are also welcomed
    Thanks!
  • Jenson Button
  • I'm not a fan of neither one, but if I had to choose between those 2, I would say Felipe.
I'm mainly a fan of Fernando Alonso followed by Robert Kubica and Sebastian Vettel.
  • Robert Kubica, is a good driver, I think that this Championship he wins a lot of GPs. BMW has working in his car since half of last Championship, and they have the KERS system very evolved, in short, BMW in general is very evolved.
I donВґt say that they wins Championship, but the give us a lot of suprises.

(Sorry, i spanish, i donВґt have good english, i need to practice.)
  • I am big fan of Kubica but it is too bad he drives the hated BMW (I just f%$^#$ hate BMW's). I am also a big Raikkonen fan. I would have to say that that my favorite recent driver is Rubens -- he is just such a likable bloke and that goofy smile is infectious. I have a lot of respect for Alonso the way he improved that car last season was eye-opening.

Ok so I have named like 20% of the drivers in F1 LOL but that is the way I see it.
  • I'm Australian so Mark Webber is my obvious choice. He has just completed his first test in the new RB5 and was only 3-4 seconds off Kovalanien's pace in the new Mclaren. Although Vettle was on standby, Mark managed 85 laps so I think that he is going to have a promising year after his accident last year. Add to the fact he had surgery to remove pins from his leg last week.

Do you now have more respect for the independent drivers?

    May be...

  • I've always had a soft spot for the underdog, including independent drivers. Any driver with a hard row to hoe gets extra attention from me, thats how I originally became a Harvick fan, kid had some huge shoes to step into.

One of my favorite drivers of all time is Morgon Shephard. Watching him pull up to a track with his pickup pulling his car on a trailer next to all those semi's with "Racing for Jesus" painted on the hood brings a whole new meaning to independent. I'll stand and scream at the top of my lungs for that man no matter what place he's starting or finishing.
  • I wouldn't say I have "more" respect. But respect? yeah, sure. I always pull for the underdog
  • I have always respected independent drivers. It is great to see more of them now!
  • As opposed to the Hendricks, Roush, and other multi-car teams?
  • Everyone in racing loves and respects the independent racer...
Alan Kulwicki was one of the most popular Champions in NASCAR
history, because he came along at a time it was considered almost
impossible for an independent to go up against the big teams..
He turned down offers from some of the top teams to start a team of his own, and was able to beat them without any of the resources they had..
He was not like the current crop of independents because he could have had a job with a top team, but he chose to be an independent owner/driver...
BTW, you may not start a race without a pit crew anymore...
The ones you see now can't get a job, so they are attempting to create one...
But NASCAR will start a full field at every race even if they need to invest in the teams to do it..
  • I have respect for anyone that races no matter who they are.
  • I have a great deal of respect for them, just not when the pull the old "start and park".
  • I always had a ton of respect for them.
  • I do.
  • i sure do. someone on tv said, it's just like the good old days like they used to be.
  • Heck yes! My favorite driver is my favorite because he is independent. One man owner driver with a great crew behind him. Robby Gordon may not be the best in nascar and may make a lot of people mad; but when your out there doing it by yourself in a big money world, it is hard and that demands respect.
  • I've always Respected them.seasond gamers
  • Will you be taking off.......(one way or another) to watch the Duel 125's on Thursday?

    May be...

  • I'll have to record it..

And that's so sweet that he shares his stuff with the guys that don't have.
*You did good Lenny, he sounds like a great kid*

    (((Braxton)))
  • Nah, not working right now. I'm retired Navy, but I may take off to buy more adult beverages and snacks.

Wish I could afford to send something their way, 'cause after 20 years in the Navy, I know how good it feels to get a care package, so he/they'll have to get by with my prayers and best wishes.
  • No, unfortunately i have to work. We are so slow at work nobody dares take a day off for anything face time is important ;) I will DVR it which means I won't be on Y/A at all Thursday afternoon since I don't want anyone to blow it before I watch it.

You seem to have a pretty good kid there Lenny, nice job. I will continue to keep him in my prayers. I am glad he is getting lots of gifts and able to pass them out. Again, really good kid Lenny.
  • Im disabled Lenny so Im off all of the time. Will b here watching it at home with the misses and my two hound dogs and chow and all the kitty's.

Glad to hear Braxtons morale is up. Thats great. My dad was in the Army 1st Infantry division Vietnam vet and raised me to respect and love our soldiers. He is always in my prayers and you are in there as well.
  • Unfortunately no. I probably won't even get to hear it as no Atlanta station has signed on to broadcast the races on MRN.
  • Or will you be recording it and watching it later................What way will you watch it or follow it??

Oh and Brax received 13 boxes yesterday!!!! Some were from NATION family members and for that I salute you!! He was very grateful and will be getting back in touch with you sooner or later to give you thanks! He got over $100 in postage and still has not had time to open all the boxes. He gets to play Santa Clause and pass out things to his buddies that don't have family sending anything. I can't thank you all enough and we both really appreciate everything!!!

  • i will be recording it on my dvr.
  • Like the King I to have been hit by the unemployment bug, which means I'll watch the duels live. Now there's a perk.

My comrades here at the Nation have expressed my feeling's so eloquently I can only concur. I salute all men and women in uniform.
  • I would have had to work at 4 o'clock if I didn't take off. In fact I took off Saturday and Sunday also to boot. This is my weekend and if the co-workers don't like it, too bad.

Great to hear your son is doing well. Tell him he's got the prayers of a Nation behind him! Not just our Nation either.
  • I live in Ireland so the Duels air at around 10PM (GMT) so I dont need to take work or college off :)
  • My work week is Sunday thru Wednesday, so I will have Thursday off to watch the duels. I had to request Sunday off though, no way I was missing Daytona!

Lenny, I thank your son for serving & protecting our country. I have a brother & stepson both in the guards. Though neither of them have been called up at this time. Can't tell you how proud to have Army as a sponsor for my favorite driver!
  • Lenny, since I have to work on Sunday (UGH!) I have decided to take Thurs off. So I'll be able to catch the duels which I am excited about...I haven't got to watch them live in about 3 years. It stinks that I won't be able to watch all of the 500 but I will be able to catch about the last half. We always set Easter in my store the day after Valentines...so I have to be there to set it...shame it landed on the day of the 500 this year. Good luck to Brax!!! We are still praying for him every day.
Can't wait for him to come home and watch a race with ya!!!

    Have a good one Lenny!
  • I have nowhere to take off from, I am an unemployed carpenter, and have been off for 16 months and counting every day:(

  • I'm gonna get signed out of school early ;)
  • Unfortunatly, I can't take school off, so my dad is going to tivo it for me and my brothers.

I would love to send some stuff to your son!! Email me letting me know what he needs.
  • I am still debating on taking it off or no. Its a bit touchy here because we have Monday off. soo I haven't made up my mind. If I don't take it off someone is taping it for me. Which means I will be watching it Thursday night and will not turn on my computer until AFTER I am done watching.

I am having a good time tracking Brax's package that I sent. I get tracking and delivery confirmation on everything so that I can see how long it takes "priority mail".
  • I will be watching and dvr-ing the Duels Thursday. I was thinking about going to the Duels but the boyfriend doesn't want to go (butt-head).

Let Brax know that I thank him for serving our country and I will keep him and your family in my prayers. I have a friend in the Marines in Iraq and my brother (Navy) just got back from his second tour to Iraq. God Bless Our Troops!!!
  • DVR baby. I record it then watch it in the evening. Best invention ever. I never miss a race. Enjoy! Braxton will get something special.
  • I'm in Daytona right now . I will not miss a race here LOL

  • order for daytona 500 on sunday? Looked on nascar.com can't find it.
  • Time trials were yesterday. Martin Truex Jr took the pole and Mark Martin joins him on the front row in the 500. The rest of the qualifying times set the lineup for the The Gatorade duel 150's, which set the rest of the field, and they start Thursday at 2 Eastern on Speed.

EDIT: Probably a little easier to read.

  • Mark and Martin got the front row, if you did, would you sandbag for the duals or go for the win?

    May be...

  • I would see how my car handles in traffic and in the draft.
I would only go for the win if the situation presented itself without doing anything crazy.
  • Alway's go for the victory, second place is the first loser.
  • I'd run the hell out of that car and if it didn't make it then tell Rick Hendrick to yank one of Jimmie Johnson's backup cars and paint it up for me. He's got plenty of cars if I was to run out.
  • Mark is a top shelf competitor. He won't sandbag, and neither would I.

EDIT: I missed that "and". So, same goes for Truex. They'll both go for it.

EDIT: They DO have somthing to lose. If the car gets wrecked beyond repair, and they have to switch to a back-up car, they go to the back of the field in the 500. On the other hand, if they blow an engine, they are allowed to change engines between the 150's and the 500 without penalty.

If the go-or-go-home guys that are not yet locked in the field by qualifying time wreck or blow an engine, well, they go home.
  • Go for the win, they literally have nothing to lose!
  • man if you got the car go for the win!winning any race here is huge.
  • I would run hard and try to finish as high as possible without doing anything crazy. If anything, it's the best practice session of the week so use it. So what if you crash. Starting up front is no big advantage at Daytona anyway.
  • I would run it as hard as I could for the win. More wins(points or not) is whats its about. I would go for the win Mr Prez!
  • i would race the wheels of the car. goin for the win
  • Go for the win.
  • I would be just like Mark.

I would "run the heck out of it" to try and win.
  • No sense in being out there if your not going to go for the win and I fully expect both of them to do that!!sri lakan airways
  • Who nabbed the pole for the 500?

    May be...

  • Martin Truex Jr. won the pole with Mark Martin coming in second. The non-top 35 teams that locked themselves in were Tony Stewart, Travis Kvapil & Bill Elliott, meaning that Terry Labonte is a lock as well cause he would have the past champions provisional.
  • Truex Jr won the pole. Only saw bits and pieces so not sure how Sadler did yet. Seems like yesterday was the day to take care of sick kids.
  • I missed that part on the Shootout, but that is hilarious! I was so upset during the 500 when Bobby got taken out. But, of course, fan favorite Sadler was taken out, my mom's fav Jr. was taken out and my hubby's fav, Harvick, won! I was real salty, though.

    Hope you're feeling better!

    Truex Jr. on the pole.
  • Truex got the pole. Elliott got 29th but don't worry, the Dodges are set up for the race. The best Dodge was Reed Sorenson in 28th.
  • Martin Truex Jr. got the pole. Mark Martin starts outside the front row. (2nd)...that was funny..the shootout was a great race.
  • Truex was the nabber and the other Martin (Mark) was 2nd!
  • Missed qualifying yesterday - I've been sick :( How did Sadler do during qualifying?

Also, who found it hilarious when the commentator (Mike Joy???) said "He slid through there like a hot dog out of a bun" or whatever the exact words were during the Shootout? I almost spit my drink all over my son (who was asleep on my lap, lol).ipaq 3870 accessories

  • Do people hate jr. because they're jealous of his talent?

    May be...

  • Okay here I go again, sorry guys but I've got to say it again, people hate him because he's popular, they hate him cause they think he should be his dad and not his own man, well I've got news for y'all he is his own person he isn't and isn't trying to be his dad. All he wants is to be his self and can someone tell me what's wrong with that? They also hate him because his fans think he's great well the last time I checked no matter who you root for you do think they are great. So once again what's wrong with that? I am so tired of people acting like he's this awful person who can't drive, well if he couldn't drive then what the hell is he doing in the cup series? I know he doesn't do things like his dad did and people need to quit expecting him too, He does things his way, just like any other driver out there does. So give the guy a break... you don't have to like him but geez do you have to be such jerks about it all the time? I have always been and will forever be a proud Jr fan.

PS. He never asked for all the fame he has but if you ask me he handles it quite well!
  • no, they hate him because they're jealous of his popularity. you can see this clearly manifested in some of these answers.
  • I am sorry, Jr won how many races in 2008? That's right NASCAR felt sorry for him & gave him 1 win. While my driver won 9 races. So I can safely say that I am not the least bit jealous of Jr's so called "talent".

I don't like Jr because of people like you (the op). People who think that Jr is god & can do no wrong. And we all know he's only popular because 75% of his so-called fans were actually his daddy's fans & his last name is Earnhardt.

Get over yourself. If it weren't for fans like you I could actually be a fan of Jr. But I am not, thank you for that.

    EDIT........
Wedge_An ~ Busch/Nationwide isn't Cup. His accomplishments in Nationwide/Busch racing means nothing in the Cup series.

And besides I wasn't watching anything but Cup at the time he won those 2 Championships. So he could have won those Championships in the same way Matt won his Cup Championship for all I know. But I do know that 1 Cup Championship trumpts 2 Busch Championships, in my book.

And I never said anything about my driver (Carl Edwards)winning a Busch Championship, although he did. All I said was he won 9 races. And he did so in the Cup series alone. I didn't add anything from the Nationwide/Busch series to that number.
  • your right that's why he wins all those races... i forgot how many was it last year... what about the year before.... that's right alot more talent
  • no i dont like him beacuse he does not come close to the way his father ran and doesnt deserve all the fame he gets
  • Oh yes he's the best ever. That's what I don't like about him, you people who think he's the best, from all the hype he gets. All you gotta do is watch ANY race and see that he's nowhere near the best.
  • No, I hate him because he can't spit out a full sentence. That's not how his dad raised him, he can talk better than that.
  • No people just don't like him because of all the attention that he gets from the Media. He does have talent, but so does every other driver in the cup series. And I really don't see how you can say that he is so much better than anyone Else's driver. I was a fan of his dad and I am a fan of his, but I am also a fan of mark martin, tony stewart and a few others. He is now in a position to win races but doesn't seem able to close the deal. maybe this year he will actually win a few races we will see.
  • Junior and talent in the same sentence? Really?

He's won how many races and championships since he started Cup? And look at who has come into Cup with or AFTER him and their stats:

Jimmie Johnson: 3 Championships, 40 wins, 23 poles (in 2 less years mind you)
Matt Kenseth: 1 Championship, 16 wins, and was ROTY over Junior
Ryan Newman: 13 wins, 43 poles, was ROTY over Jimmie Johnson.

And then let's see what Junior has done:
Dale Jr: 18 wins, 8 poles. NO ROTY. No Championships.

Yeah, he's just so amazing. He'll never win a championship and sure as hell isn't as good as his father. He's nowhere near as talented as my drivers, and never will be.
  • I agree with Fluffy and Know it All. It's even been said by the people who hate him that they can't stand how much attention the media gives him. That sounds like a poor reason to hate someone. Why not be happy for other people's success instead of be jealous because they don't have it too?
  • We dont hate him because of who he is, we hate him because of people like you, who buy tickets to see a race... Lap 17 Jr crashes, then 30% of the crowd leaves... thats why...
  • no not really , maybe its his popularity and how the media is always making a big deal of him , i am not a hater of Jr i like him but to say people dislike him because of his talent is a joke because hes never won a championship and has only 1 win in the last 2 years and although i personally hope Dale gets a few wins this year and eventually gets his championship i think its fair to say most people who dislike him are just tired of the media and his fans blowing him up so much because JR is far from being the best driver in the Series.
  • That depends on who their guy is...
The Hamlin fans are miffed because while
Denny seemed to have about the same rookie
year, Denny has turned into a whining infant who
thinks that the hype makes him a star...
Wait until you see how they feel about Almirola
after he starts beating Denny on a regular basis..
Jeff, or Jimmie fans are a little confused because
they think they have some kind of obligation to not like Jr,
but now he's a teammate.. And what's worse Jeff, and Jimmie fans
are beginning be suspicious of each other, now that Jimmie
has improved his driving, and is starting overshadow Jeff..
There were times last season when I thought Jeff was going
to call Jr a spy, and you could see last night how Jr was being
careful about leaving Jeff out of the draft...
Kyle fans are not in the sport long enough to know who can,
or cannot drive, and why.. Cousin Carl's fans are much too secure
to worry about Jr.. Tony's fans are to busy worrying if their guy will
embarrass himself, or not they don't have time to think about Jr..
  • wow someone didnt have this question removed? Amazing I thought to not worship a mediocre at best driver like Jr. was sacralige here. Stewert has two titles Jr. a whopping ZERO. If his last name was Brown or Ilsa instead of Earnhardt 99.9% of his fans would not cheer for him. He has as much personality as a dead possom. Can't wait for his excuse when he crashes next Sunday.
  • I love Jr. but my Driver (Tony Stewart) races just as good as Jr. As a matter of fact Jr is my 2nd favorite. Are you a member of Infield Parking? Good Luck this year.
  • it's not his fault that he's so much better than your driver.
  • No. And I don't hate anyone, that's childish and immature.

His popularity is NOT the root of the problem.
Sorry, that's a cop-out. It's the wide-spread hypocrisy that tends to keep my @ss out of his Nation.

lol @ Richard's answer. Telling me I haven't been in the sport long enough to know who is and isn't a good driver. I think a couple of decades of watching hardly constitutes "not long enough"
  • I can't speak for 'everyone' but I know most of my friends that don't like him claim he gets special treatment by NASCAR and the media because of his last name. A few of them have mentioned his treatment of Tony Jr on the radio as another reason they dislike him.

Personally, I like the kid. He strikes me as a normal Good ol' boy who happens to have some cash and a famous last name... and likes to drive fast and go left. Until recently he seemed uncomfortable in the media and almost seemed shy or bashful, which of course makes him adorably sexy to the ladies.

As far as his treatment of Tony Jr, I think he'd have better results on the track if he had a crew chief that would stand up to him and not put up with the ravings of **** he gives Tony Jr.
  • No it's more like a lack there of.
  • People "hate" Junior because they have hurt feelings.
They have hurt feelings over his popularity, and they act out. in an angered and immature way.
  • Yeah right, his overratedness made him one of the liked and disliked drivers out there.
  • Now that you've given everyone else a reason to hate us Jr fans here. It's the media coverage and everything else that's been said here. A few points here.
To the person who compared Jr to Matt Kenseth, Kenseth won the 2003 Cup with 1 win and 25 top-10's hardly what you call a dominating season, otherwise Jr and Matt's(who I also happen to be a fan of BTW) numbers are very similar. Newman? You're kidding right? Jr had 15 wins after 5 full seasons, Newman has 13 in 6, and 1 win since 2005.
Siderman, when has Jr ever been known to make excuses when he wrecks, hell he won't even place blame where blame is due and chalks it up to just racing. BTW 9 times out of 10 Jr gets caught in someone else's mess.
karafait, "so called talent" Jr won his 2 Busch titles in his only 2 full seasons in the series, not as an invading Cup driver in his third full Cup season.
If Busch/Nationwide titles mean nothing, how come Carl insists on trying to win one year in and year out? Want to tell me that?
  • considering that there talent actually got them to NASCAR not there last name, well at least most of them. Plus it's also because people like you think he's the greatest thing ever when he's not, not saying he's bad, just not nearly the best there isair supply company
  • Do people hate jr. because they're jealous of his talent?

    May be...

  • I love Jr. but my Driver (Tony Stewart) races just as good as Jr. As a matter of fact Jr is my 2nd favorite. Are you a member of Infield Parking? Good Luck this year.
  • Oh yes he's the best ever. That's what I don't like about him, you people who think he's the best, from all the hype he gets. All you gotta do is watch ANY race and see that he's nowhere near the best.
  • No. And I don't hate anyone, that's childish and immature.

His popularity is NOT the root of the problem.
Sorry, that's a cop-out. It's the wide-spread hypocrisy that tends to keep my @ss out of his Nation.

  • No it's more like a lack there of.

  • no, they hate him because they're jealous of his popularity. you can see this clearly manifested in some of these answers.
  • People "hate" Junior because they have hurt feelings.
They have hurt feelings over his popularity, and they act out. in an angered and immature way.
  • We dont hate him because of who he is, we hate him because of people like you, who buy tickets to see a race... Lap 17 Jr crashes, then 30% of the crowd leaves... thats why...
  • considering that there talent actually got them to NASCAR not there last name, well at least most of them. Plus it's also because people like you think he's the greatest thing ever when he's not, not saying he's bad, just not nearly the best there is
  • Yeah right, his overratedness made him one of the liked and disliked drivers out there.
  • no i dont like him beacuse he does not come close to the way his father ran and doesnt deserve all the fame he gets

  • I agree with Fluffy and Know it All. It's even been said by the people who hate him that they can't stand how much attention the media gives him. That sounds like a poor reason to hate someone. Why not be happy for other people's success instead of be jealous because they don't have it too?
  • it's not his fault that he's so much better than your driver.
  • Now that you've given everyone else a reason to hate us Jr fans here. It's the media coverage and everything else that's been said here. A few points here.

If Busch/Nationwide titles mean nothing, how come Carl insists on trying to win one year in and year out? Want to tell me that?
  • No, I hate him because he can't spit out a full sentence. That's not how his dad raised him, he can talk better than that.
  • I can't speak for 'everyone' but I know most of my friends that don't like him claim he gets special treatment by NASCAR and the media because of his last name. A few of them have mentioned his treatment of Tony Jr on the radio as another reason they dislike him.

Tony's fans are to busy worrying if their guy will
embarrass himself, or not they don't have time to think about Jr..acura nsx forum

Who will win the pole for the 2009 Daytona 500?

    May be...

  • jr or joey logano david ragan maybe the 09 of brad keslowski
  • Boris Said.
  • truex
  • Jamie McMurray :) he is going to continue with his luck from last night.

Edit: Mykey you took my answer :( LOL. Jk, I like to see other people picking Jamie too!
  • Awesome Bill from Dawsonville!
  • bill in the 21
  • Kyle Busch
  • I'm Going out on a Huge Major Limb....James Hylton.

Okay maybe not... Imma say Jamie McMurray get's the Pole

I want too See Scott Speed, Menard or Truex on pole though
    EDIT: Come on TRUEX!!
    EDIT: YIPPPIEEE!!!!!
  • Dale Jr
  • Is this 1989 or 2009? Bill Elliott will take the pole today!!!
  • greg biffle GO # 16
  • The first correct answer or closest answer will get the 10 points.
  • I think it will be mark martin.. but i would love 2 see it be Joey Logano he is AHdorable!
  • Bill Elliott
  • Mark is going to hang on to it!

EDIT: Aw shucks Truex just took it away from Martin, now I hope Mark stays on the front row.
  • truex jr
  • I sure hope Dale Jr but it looks like Mark Martin and that is kool!!

Congrats to Martin Truex Jr & Mark Martin!!!

Is that good enough for 10????? :-)
  • I'm casting my vote for Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. I really hope he gets it.synchronize failed
  • Subway to sponsor Carl Edwards?

    May be...

Subway Restaurants will be the primary sponsor for Carl Edwards in three Sprint Cup races this year. They will also be an associate sponsor on the #99 Ford Fusion.

What do you think of the new Subway paint scheme for Carl? Or the sponsorship in general? I'm not a big fan of the paint scheme, but I think Carl Edwards and Subway is a perfect fit. What about you?
  • THE BIG BANANA!! Ol Cousin Carl got himself a yeller race car, cool I like it! He will defiantly stand out now!

    1-10 I'll give it a high 8.6 - 8.7ish!

And the whole Subway thing, I think Cousin Carl could fit inside Jared! LOL Both of them will make a good commercial!
  • I think it looks real nice. LOL
  • !!! I finally found a paint scheme I dislike more than David's!
    Thank you!
Anyways yes I think it's a great fit!
  • Sure why not? He got the body for it lol, but I don't know why they decided to sponsor Smoke before.
  • i thought it was distinct, so the paint worked in that effect
  • I don't like the paint scheme at all. As far as the sponsorship in general, meh... money is money. The only sponsorship I can say would 'fit' Edwards would be if TVLand sponsored him with a big picture of Mr. Ed on his hood.
  • The paint scheme is okay. What I find amusing is the fact that Office Depot, that used to sponsor Carl is now Tony's sponsor and that Subway, that used to sponsor Tony is now sponsoring Carl.how to fiberglass speakerbox
  • Logano or Speed in 2009?

    May be...

  • Logano - he's with the better organization
  • ....coin toss?
  • Well that is a toss up.
I will pick Logano, I think he has better equipment.
  • Logano all the way. Look at how he has won in nearly everything he has tried. The kid is a natural talent.
  • Who was ahead when they wrecked together??
  • Well if David stays away from them they both should do okay. : P
I'm picking Speed just becuase I like him more though.
  • I will go with Logano because I think he will have access to better equipment and personnel.
  • Logano. Speed looks like he is still trying to grasp what a stock car is.
  • logano much better ride in the 20
  • Scott Speed. Logano will turn out to be another Casey Atwood.
  • honestly, i think that might turn out to be the best/closest battle of the year--probably even better than the championship. i like both of 'em, so as long as they both do well, i'm happy.
  • I'm going to have to go with Logano. Gibbs has been grooming him for awhile now and as has already been mentioned he's got access to better equipment (read: cashflow)

I've taken an instant dislike to Speed, I'm not sure why. Felt the same way about the Busch brothers when they hit the scene and so far my opinions on them haven't changed much.
  • Depends on track i say...

But im picking Scott Speed because he has a fun attitude, especially with that inccident with Ricky Steinhouse last year. That made me like him even more. Plus hes been the only American Formula 1 driver in recent years. Soo C"MON people cheer him on!!!

Logano will do best on the 1.5 miles
(Thats what hes best at, especially Nationwide, Arca, and divisional series)

Speed will do best on the flat tracks/road courses/short tracks
(Look at his resume... and what hes been racing)
    -Mazda Formula
    -British Formula Championship
    -Eurocup Formula Renault
    -Northern Europe Formula Renault
    -Asian Formula Challange
    -Formula 1
    -GP2 Series
    -A1 Grand Prix
    -Arca series
    -Truck series
I mean c'mon... racing in ALL those series has to give some advantage and experience right?

But on the 2+ mile (oval) tracks its anyones game. Both have about the same experience for those. Another thing to think about, they are both young and aggressive... so its quite equal.
  • I agree with the above answer.
  • Hmmm.... that's a tough one.

Let's just say I think Logano will produce less scrap metal than Speed lol
  • Hmm..Speed, but not by much.
  • Logano. I like Speed, but he has the whole hyped up on Mountain Dew thing going on which makes me think he might be more sporadic and prone to accidents.
  • Logano......That Scott Speed Guy trips me out....He is a weird one, I think there is somethin about him thats not right.....LOL...I dont know maybe he's just tryin too hard to be funny or somethin!!!!

    GO HARVICK & RCR!!!!!
  • Logano for me....and it really sucked that they were both taken out so early last night. I would have loved to seen where they finished had they been able to finish the race.
  • Scott Speed
  • who will do better?
  • Well, Speed has mucho experience including F-1. However, Logano is some kind of vunderkind.

Even with the lack of experience, I'd give the nod to Logano, but only by a hair. Ought to be interesting, at least.
  • I'm thinking Joey Logano is going to do better because I think that he is more experienced or has become a better driver and he also has a good crew chief and owner and I'm actually expecting him to do great things! And he's only 18!!
  • Joey Logano.Scott Speed is pretty good, but he is no Sliced Bread.Besides,Joey is in a far better car and with a much better crew.bagel cream cheese lox
  • Now that the shootout is over...?

    May be...

  • It should have been McMurray. I'm not happy at all.

    Bring on the 500!!
  • Bring on the Duals. That was not what I had in mind from Sadler's side of it.
  • i'm happy, but not because harvick won; but because NASCAR season is FINALLY here!!!
  • I wanted Jeff Gordon to win.
  • I almost want to bet that Jamie's gonna win the 500.

    I'm ready.
  • I am pretty happy about it Jamie McMurray finished 2nd and Carl Edwards finished 7th so it was a Pretty good race I guess! I wish David Ragan would have got to finish the race I think he could have possible won it! I am ready for the 500 now!
  • i'm preety satisfied with the performence of jeff gordon my faviriot and sorta glad that jimmie johnson wiped out and that logano shouldn't even be in nascar he's way to young
  • I AM SOOO HAPPY!! I THINK I AM GOING TO SLEEP GOOD TONIGHT !! WHAT A GREAT RACE!!

    GO HARVICK !!
  • I'M HAPPY!

I'm happy! ecstatic!!! thrilled!!!! overjoyed!!!! It's so great to see Kev back in vl after so long it almost feels like he won the 500 again instead of the shootout LOL

All I can think of is what an awesome start it is to a season that I wasn't even really looking forward to that much though the off season.

    Bring on the 500!!!!
  • I got a trash talkin' text from my brother-in-law Jim.
(The "happy" fan in the family)

I reap what I sew...I *may* have started it.

Hmm...I was hoping McMurray would hold him off actually.
Que sera sera, congrats to the 29 fans.
  • YOu have got to give to Kevin, he never ever gave up tonight.
I thought it was a exciting race, kept me glued to the tv all night.

Now lets go to Daytona 500. WHere it all begins.
  • Wanted Jeff to win - but oh well, this is just the begining......
  • I very unhappy. The win should have gone to Jamie because he was in the lead on the scoring loop when the caution came out. It's the same thing they did to Martin at daytona in 2007. But I am getting over it. I'm ready for the actual race next week.
  • Very. Kevin never quit. Was in there at the right moment. The Bud Shootout has to have a little luck to win it.
  • Not too happy. Jeff shoulda had that one. But I guess he's saving his stuff for next weekend. But he(double hockey sticks) yeah I'm glad that the season has started! Boggity Boggity Boggity Boys.... let's go racing!!
  • That was a wild race and a GREAT start to the racing season!!!
  • Pissed
  • it ok. at least a Chevy won. could have been worse. Now we got the Gatorade duel 125's on thursday then the 500 next sunday ..
  • Menard and Speed both wrecked... gimme a decent Qualifying Spot tomorrow and Hand Me the Duels.
  • I am happy that it was a great race with a great finish. Not so much excited about the winner lol.
  • Kevin has matured so much since he took over that ride. I'm so excited for him! He never gave up tonight and deserved that win.
  • I'm very happy! "Happy" is my favorite active driver and it was so awesome to see him back in Victory Lane. Hopefully he will be there next Sunday as well.
    What a finish that was!
  • I was hoping Gordon would win right there at the end, but I'm definitely happy for Kevin. Kevin hasn't won in a while, so I'm glad for him and his fans. I know it wasn't a points race, but it's tough to win a race these days. Any kind of win is worth celebrating. I'm proud that my driver was competitive all night long after starting in the back. That was a good race and hopefully it will be the start to a great season.
  • I always like to see Kevin Harvick win.He is definitely one of my favorites. He and his wife just seem like such down to earth people.
  • i be mad cuz jr lose
  • I am happy that Happy won. It has been a long time coming and he has started this season wonderful.

Would have been thrilled if Tony had won. I think he did excellent, first race as owner/driver. I was hoping a Chevy would win, Tony's Chevy. Oh well, there are more chances coming.
  • and Kevin has won, I am very happy. How about you?
  • I'm pretty happy. Kinda dissapointed Jeff didn't win but it's nice to see him running up front. The Shootout was exciting. Those last 10 laps were intense. I wasn't expecting Harvick to sneak up and win the race.
  • I'm happy Kevin won, that was pretty cool how he came from nowhere to win and he managed to avoid almost every wreck out there tonight, he did good! congrats to his fans for a great start of the season!
  • I loved the race. RCR won so I'm excited for the 500!!!
  • great race. congrats to kevin.
    come on daytona 500 WHOOO
  • WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    I AM FREAKIN ESTATIC!!!!!!!

GO HARVICK & RCR.......WAY TO START THE SEASON!!!!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL MY FELLOW HARVICK FANS!!!!!!real estate letter of intent form
  •
