Who will take the checkered flag at homestead/nationwide series?

May be...

  • Clint Bowyer
  • I think maybe that young Busch kid.

    But Chevy wins the championship!
  • Kyle Busch
  • then i got brad k
  • I choose Brad Keselowski as usual :D

    Edit:
I changed my mind...Dale Jr. in the #5 car will win! :D
Didn't know he was racing in this race til a few minutes ago!
  • Jeff Burton
  • Joey Lagano
    18 Year old Sliced Bread!!
  • Carl Edwards
  • Denny Hamlin
  • 1 driver
    10 points
  • Jamie McMurray
  • david ragan
  • carl edwards
  • Jimmie Johnson, going away!
  • I would really like it to be Jeff Gordon!!!!

  • Ryan Newmanalaska ariline
  • Nascar Nation. How well do you think Brad Keselowski will run in his 2nd Sprint cup race?

    May be...

  • I'm gonna say 17th-20 range. I hope he has a great race.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • 26th -1 lap Down

    Rookie
  • just finish on the lead lap
  • Hopefully another top 20 finish. I was impressed with the way he ran at Texas in only his first career start. He is ready for Cup racing but Rick Hendrick is going to take it one race at a time plus Brad is also running full-time in the 88 Nationwide car in 2009. I see him running a partial schedule in th e 5 car in 2010 and he will take over full-time in 2011.
  • I think he will do okay. I think once again he will run about 20th to 30th this week which isn't bad at all for your second career start. If he is involved in a crash or something, I don't think it will be of his doing. He doesn't seem to be making too much mistakes in the Nationwide series. He's doing great right now. Hopefully, we will see him in a full-time Sprint Cup ride in the future.
  • I think he'll do good. He has a lot of potential. Next year may not be as easy for him though. Since NASCAR has banned all testing then he's going to be playing catch-up all year and I think that is unfair. Hopefully his crew chief will be wise enough they can over come the negative effects of the testing ban though.

The Homestead race Sunnday should prove to be interesting. I hope he does good. It could be a sign of his success he has next year.
  • 18th-21st.
He's doing very well in his Cup performances.entertainment book maui
  • Where do i go to sell a nascar race uniform?

    May be...

  • Be cool, and contribute it to a second hand store, and let someone who really wants it, get it.

  • Ebay...if anyone wants one, they will look there first.outlook synchronization failed
  • Who would you like to see win tonights truck race?

    May be...

  • I agree with WG. KB for the race, JB for the championship.
  • Hornaday for Championship...and him for the race
  • Kevin Harvick and Ron Hornaday
  • skinner
    hornaday
  • Mike Skinner - Winner
    Johnny Benson - Champion
  • Winner - Harvick
    Championship - Hornaday
  • I like them both but I'm going with Benson.
  • Kyle Busch for the race, Johnny Benson for the championship.
  • I think it would be cool if Johnny Benson won the race and the championship.
  • and who will win the last craftsman truck championship?
    Benson or Hornaday
  • RON HORNADAY, chevrolet ,
  • Charlie Brown
  • Someone new,

Benson should win the Championship.firefox smileys
  • Who will Formula1 Championship this 2009?

    May be...

  • Hamilton
  • Danica Patrick will win the 2009 World Title................she is the gratest driver EVER!!!!!!!!!!

She is the first person to win each of the 4 Indy500's she has entered. I think that she even wonned EVERY race on the 2008 .1RL schedule.
  • KIMI RAIKKONEN
  • Massa is definitly hungry
    But im for Kimi
  • I have a feeling Hamilton will be the front runner again this year, however if BMW are making as much progress as they say they are, then I can see Kubica being a regular winner next year.
That said, this KERS system sounds like it's going to shake things up a bit, so I think whichever teams have spent most of this year preparing for next year (BMW and Honda for example) are going to do better than this year.
But, in a nutshell, Hamilton to retain his crown, followed closely by Raikkonen, Kubica and Heidfeld (should Heidfeld get his qualifying problems solved!)
  • me
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr
  • My belief is Kimi RГ¤ikkГ¶nen, as he will hopefully overcome his mechanical difficulties, get the Ferrari running in order, and dominate.
Having said that, I think Lewis and Kubica have a good shot as well.
Something tells me that Massa will be so hungry for it that he will inevitably drive erratically, leading to a weaker season than this...
Either way, I agree that it will be exciting. Now we must suffer for several months of sparse F1 news until the new season arrives.
  • MEEEEEEEEEEE!

Raikkonen, Massa or Hamilton, but i would love it if Kubica won, just to shake it up or Vettel. Okay maybe not in a Red Bull.
  • Everyone seems to be forgetting that 2009 will have all new rules and cars.

Back to square one for everyone.

  • With the 2009 Formula1 season , it promises to be a quite exciting season...who will be the ultimate winner?

Who is the most marketable driver in nascar for season 2008?

    May be...

  • Yes, I got this question form 'Nascar Now' yesterday.
  • Well I think it is Carl Edwards and Dale jr. But this completely makes no sense at all how can drivers that have never even won cup championships be the most marketable. Jimmie Johnson is on the verge of 3 in a row and he's got almost no sponsors and dale jr. who's never won a cup title has all the sponsors. I don't think that's right Jimmie was ranked 3rd most paid driver last year and he's won back to back championships.
  • Dale Jr.
  • Mr. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
  • Carl Edwards. Wasn't the story about him?
  • I would also go with Jr on this one
  • In order.
    Dale Jr.-Most popular
    Carl Edwards-Mr. America
    Jeff Gordon-Invented the "Maretable Driver"
Tony Stewart-The "bad boy", definitely has his core fan base
Kasey Kahne-The pretty boy, but not much substance
    Jimmie Johnson-The CHAMP!
    Just my opinion.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Kyle Busch. First of all, anything with M&M's on it is extremely marketable, even more so now that Kyle Busch has brought the car to victory. Second, whether you like it or not, Rowdy has made a character of himself, with his pouty face when he loses and his bows when he wins. Third, take into consideration that "all publicity is good publicity," and Kyle sure has gotten it from both ends through the season...
  • Carl Edwards. Aflac paid 78 million dollars for 3 years to sponsor the 99 car and rumors also indicate Subway will join Edwards at end of the year too.
  • Easily Dale Jr. Everything he touches turns to gold.
  • Top 3 were Junior,Kahane,Edwards.
  • Sadler is always the most marketable.
  • I would have to say that it is Carl Edwards. I think that his commercials are funny (with the exception of the Ralph Macchio one), he is a good driver, he gives a good interview, he always thanks his sponser's, his crew and his fans, and last but not least, my wife says he's good looking.
  • I would have to say Carl Edwards or Dale Earnhart Jr.
  • I think it is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He has about half the fans in NASCAR in his camp.jornada keyboard driver

Who really deserves the nascar championship?

    May be...

  • carl, even without the chase, carl would probably be leading kyle right now, in the final 10 races the 18 team completely went down the shitter but the 99 was always right there even when the 18 was dominating during the season, but carl has been on a hot streak as of lately. jimmie johnson just lucked out with the chase this year and last year, gordon shoulda had it last year.
  • I'm with Nora on this one!
Last I checked Jimmie is in first place...
When the chase started each driver had the same chance to win. If you wanna look at the facts, Kyle had a bit of an edge on the rest of the drivers. Each driver in the chase are exactly where they should be. Fair is Fair, right?
  • Kyle Busch, because he dominated this season like nobody else.
  • Jimmie shouldn't be winning (Kyle should) but he is and deserves his 3rd consecutive championship.
  • Junior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Kyle if you are going on the heart and what they really did together as a team, if you go by the stats, Jimmie
  • Jimmie Deserves it 100% he and chad never fool around and are always ready for a race
  • Jimmie. Unless "something bad happens".
  • oh please
I am one of the biggest Busch Whackers out there but seriously...the only thing that took him out of the championship was mechanical issues, not driver talent. I am not saying I'd have been happier Kyle won it, but he sure as hell deserved it.
  • I think that Carl deserves it the most b/c he has had an immense amt.
of success in just 4 short years. I think Jimmie deserves it the least b/c he is arrogant and cocky at the track. I'm surprised that they make a helmet big enough to fit over Jimmie's swollen head after just 2 championships. Imagine how much it would be intensified after 3 STRAIGHT!!!!
  • kyle
    carl
    jimmie

ugh i have to say kyle but carl definatley 2nd hes worked way harder for it i think
  • I don't know how you can say anyone besides Jimmie Johnson. He is leading the points under ANY system you want to use and they would have adjusted their season around a different points system IF it were in place. Get over it, he's the best right now no matter how you look at it!
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • At this point I can't argue against Jimmie Johnson. Even under the "traditional" points system Johnson would be leading the points. Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch would still be behind him in points, despite their wins. If Jimmie does win the championship, it will be because he is the most deserving driver.

....Here's something that I think has been missed by some people here. Chase or no Chase, EVERYONE has the same chance at winning The Cup. The #48 team just has their strategy down for coming on strong during The Chase. There are 11 other teams in The Chase that are free to use the same strategy. Kyle had an absolutely phenomenal year, but also had a little bad luck along the way when it hurt the most. IT HAPPENS. Carl has been great all year long, but not as strong as the Lowe's team when it counted. You can't bash Jimmie and his team for legitimately and fairly (no cheating involved here, folks) beating the system. Maybe it's just time for everybody else to step it up a bit....
  • Kyle worked hard in the beginning of the year, and just had extremely bad luck because of things taht wer out of his control.

However, I still want Carl to win, and have wanted him to win.
  • Much like Jeff Gordon deserved it last year, I believe Carl Edwards deserves it this year simply because he has been as consistent as Gordon was last year but he has more wins then Gordon and less top top fives and top tens than Gordon. However, Johnson has been remarkable during the Chase and the trophy is handed out for who the best driver is during the last 10 races and he has been for the last three years.
  • As it is set up in the Chase (which we have to live with, like it or not), Jimmie has definitely earned the title, and deserves it. Why speculate on what will not be. Until they change it, the Chase is it. Jimmie had what it takes when it counted.

    *SILQ*

  • kyle Busch or Carl Edwards.
    They have more wins.
  • The driver with the most points when the Homestead race is over. It doesn't really matter who "deserves" it. Rules are rules, and the point system is what it is.
  • Jimmy
    Carl
    Biffle
Kyle seems to fall apart at the end of the year
  • The one who wins it at the end. That the way it is set up and that is the way it should be. Not a JJ fan but he has proven to be the guy to beat over the last few years.
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • well duh----------------jimmy
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • jj plain and simple
  • Carl, because his wins were spread throughout the season. Not to undermine them, but Kyle was only dominant in the regular season, while JJ starting becoming dominant toward the end.
  • Carl. Look at what hes done in 4season.
  • Kyle Busch. He had a championship year not a championship chase.

  • Are you a Said head.....?

    May be...

  • no...never saw much of him really.

I am a brunette with some auburn...and auburnettehead?? lol
  • I lost a bit of respect for him after that incident with Ambrose a while back, but it's been long enough for me to forgive him for it, and he's definitely had more than one opportunity to wreck Ambrose like he said he would, so I figure that's even longer behind them then it's behind me.

    I'm not a "Said Head", but I'm a fan.
  • no not really sorry.
  • Nah not really but I am a Busch head.
  • Are you talking about AFRO man, he's a O.K. driver, but if he want to hang with the big boys he needs to step up his game a couple notches!!
  • Yes, I do need a haircut.
  • No, sorry, I've never really cared for him.
  • My hair is curly enough that I could be mistaken for one. But, I'm not really.
  • No. I actually think he's a bit overrated.
  • no he sucks and he cant win races
  • I'm sorry, I'm more a member of the Fellows-ship.
  • He is the best driver to not have a full time ride, in my humble opinion. He has had good runs on ovals when he has gotten the opportunity but I think he is too old to be considered as marketable as some of the youngsters coming up. It's a shame, he has a great personality and I think he would be great in commercials and as a spokesperson.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • No , I'm not a Said head, but he is a good driver.
  • I didnt realize he had enough fans to actually have a group name of "said heads" until I saw that on nascar.com's website poll for most delusional fanbase... LOL

    no, I am not.
  • like him but no not a said head in particularcomputing general handheld pcs pda
  • What is your opinion on this?

    May be...

  • Thats true the NASCAR car world almost revolves around Jr. I mean when the man speaks people listen, when he runs up front every body cheers.

And as far as Jimmie needing to change. I would agree. They should do some thing about him winning every thing. Cause if it was Jr then every body would say hes a cheater. Or even last year when Gordon won a lot they called him a cheater. But Jimmie dominates week in and week out and not a thing is said.

Maybe theres some thing to that.
  • First off...Zach,everyone that is not a 48 fan says that he is a cheater.

I somewhat agree that there would be better attendance if Jr. was fighting for the championship. However,I still feel it is mostly due to the economy. As far as Jimmie needing to change,I don't think he does.He is who he is and doesn't care who likes him.He is one of the best drivers ever and is about to be a 3peat champ.Would you change?
  • i agree

johnson just wins nothing else BORING
  • Two of the jokers they talked to don't know anything about Nascar except for Ricky Craven. Look, I know Dale Jr fans think he is a God. He does no wrong with most of the true fans of Dale Jr. If Nascar is betting it will get people in the stands because of Jr they are sadly wrong. Thanks Bush (not kurt) but the prez.
  • of course if the sports most popular driver were vying for the championship, ratings would be up. that's no different than any other sport - the bigger market teams with more fans are a bigger draw when they get into their playoffs, championships, etc.

as for jimmie, there's only one way to beat him: http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/opinion/...
  • Although it makes me sad to say it but yes, if Junior was going for the Championship their would be many more viewers. All the newbies and bandwagon jumpers would be happy and tuning in more. I for one am hoping many of his so called fans will drop off then his real fans can shine through and be there in the end when he does indeed win a Championship.

As for Jimmie Johnson what can he change....loose a bit maybe? I hope not. The #48 team are Champs and deserve everything they get.
  • Dale JR is the redneck hero. I quit listening to him the moment I found out that all he says the entire time he talks is uhh umm hmm. We will all be smarter if we stop listening to this dude
  • After 8 years of Republican rule no one can afford to go. No job, no race. Jr or no jr people cant afford to go. They have to save their money and put food on the table for their family. That's if they have their priority's straight. Look I know jr can walk on water and part the oceans in a blink of a eye but people are hurting in the pocket book. Maybe jr could donate some money to G Dub ya Bush he could fix things with our economy but I doubt he is willing to part with his dollars. It cost alot to party these days. Why does Jimmie need to change? He is doing what he is paid to do, win championships. In Nascar you are supposed to win races and championships or am I missing something about how Nascar drivers do things.
  • Maybe a little truth about Junior, Jimmie doesn't need to change a thing. I think the economy has more to do with the lessening attendance than anything and I think it will be much worse next season.
  • its so true and it all because of dale sr they expect him to win 7 championship it not gonna happen we all miss dale but to me junior does not fill his place like the media wants you to think and yes every ones tired of seeing jimmy win i no i am
  • Makes sense, Jr's the most popular driver, of course attendance would be up if he were going for the championship.

As far as Jimmie needing to change, why?
The other teams just need to catch up.
  • I just was on Yahoo sports they said that if Junior was going for the championship that their would be alot more in attendace, and alot more viewing Nascar, they also said Jimmie Johnson needs to change a bit.

I am going to go a try a find the link to this.william miles md

Why do nascar fans think that ......?

    May be...

  • Okay this is an interesting question and remark. Yes, the drivers are athletes and they work hard at their job.
  • Because they are....

Athlete- a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina

Driving a 700-horsepower stock car around tricky tracks requires a lot of physical strength, agility and stamina.. Do you see any NASCAR driver who is overweight.. They are all all in shape... Just look at Carl Edwards (he does backflips after winning)

    Yes, I noticed the reporting...

One of my questions got deleted for chatting (I clearly saw no chatting on my part)

EDIT: Some would say Tony is fat and Mark is too old.. Look at other sports... Not only are they only one of a few, but looking at other sports, I know there are more fatter and older athletes..
  • dork
No Wait! I take that back.

  • Go Redskins. I don't think they're losing any, just the lack of questions.
  • well they deffinatly are athletes and i think nascar SHOULD BE A ****** HOLLIDAY and tony n jeff gordan are butt buddys!!!

    May be...

  • The winner of this race will be a Roush Fenway car because they are so strong at this track and have won the last four straight races and five overall races. I still think Edwards will be the car to beat this week and he wont have anything to lose in terms of points so he will drive aggressively and earn his 9th win of the season.

Where is the best tailgating experience?

    May be...

  • Never been to any of those tracks but from what I've heard, Bristol is lotsa fun.
  • Yes, I agree. Talladega always holds a big crowd and always has a big race. It would make for a great tailgating experience. Personally, I think that Lowe's Motor Speedway would be the best place for tailgating, but Talladega is great.
  • Speaking from experience, I have to say Bristol. Nobody's a stranger. Just walking back to your campsite at Thunder Valley someone is always offering you a beer, soda or food. You wake up in the morning & somebody's always got breakfast cookin'. Sit around all evening by the campfire talking with people from a lot of different states and even Canadians. Everyone likes a different driver but it's fun pickin on everybody else's driver. No one gets mad. I've seen some very drunk people but have never seen a fight. It's Nascar Nation!
  • Talladega but Daytona and Bristol are pretty awesome .
  • No probably Bristol. The fans there are nuts.
  • Bristol
    Dega
    or
    Darlington

    I choose of course DEGA

    BTW this is from nascar.com
  • Bristol I guess.
I didn't tailgate at any of those tracks so my list would read:

    Martinsville
    Pocono
    Loudon
    Watkins Glen
    Dover
  • I dont know, I have never been tailgating, but I imagine that Bristol is crazy with tailgaters at the night race, so I am kind of inclined to go with Bristol.canadian landed immigrant status
  • Why did Kyle Petty have a black band over the 45 on his hat?

    May be...

  • Kyle says it's to honor his late son Adam. Some people took it as a slam against Petty Enterprises. I guess only Kyle knows for sure.

    http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/...
  • Because he will not be running the #45 next year.

    See this article.

    RIP Adam Petty.

    http://dalyplanet.blogspot.com/2008/10/k...
  • I believe he said something about how the 45 was Adam's number and since he won't be driving it anymore, he put that old hat on. Kyle's other son (drawing a blank on his name, sorry) made the suggestion several years ago and Kyle thought it was a good idea. One of the things that I had never noticed until Kyle mentioned it, was that Kyle never considered the 45 to be his car...he considered it Adam's car, and that's why Kyle's name never appeared over the doors. Where most driver's names would be, it was always blank when Kyle drove the 45. A very nice tribute to his late son, Adam is still missed, R.I.P.
  • I noticed that Kyle Petty had a black band over the number on his hat while he was on Tradin' Paint and other times around the track this past weekend. Did anyone see or hear why this was? I've not seen that before.
  • I saw that too. I don't know the answer to it I can't think of why he had that on his cap.cost to replace ball joints
  • Can Jimmie Johnson four peat?

    May be...

  • Of course he can.
He and his team know what it takes to win championships.
  • I personally dont think he will three-peat, I am still pulling for Carl Edwards, so my answer would be no.

However, if he does three-peat there is always a chance that he can four-peat.
  • He could and he and his team know how to get that job done but that's a ways off yet!
  • I think Johnson has a better shot at fourpeating than anyone else in the garage. Jimmy and company are incredibly consistent when it counts. With all that said, winning a fourth in a row will be EXTREMELY difficult.
  • God I hope he doesn't.

But him and his team are definitely capable of it. I hope to see an RCR car win the championship but I think the #48 team will probably once again be the guys to beat.
  • I know he hasn't officially won this championship but he probably will and I want to look towards next season. And if you dont think he can whos your pick
  • Until somebody knocks him off the throne he is the MAN in NASCAR!!! Yes he can 4peat! I'm not counting my chickens yet this year but it is looking good for the 48 team.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • nope
  • If he gets his third this week, it's possible that he might get four-in-a-row. BUT, the competition is so tough these days. Look at what Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch have done this year. They are just as deserving for the championship. They both had troubles in the chase early. Jimmie has been fortunate that he hasn't had problems like that. Jimmie can win again, but it will take a lot of work. As far as who might challenge him for the title, I think that Kyle and Carl will be treats again, Greg Biffle might be a treat, and I think that Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth will rebound and get better compared to this year.
  • why not, but anyone can steer a car and press on the gas
  • yes
  • well he could no doubt but i'll just stop watching after that cuz its gonna get sooo predictable and sooner or later he'll win all 36 races
    im already sick of it
  • He can do it but I don't think he will next year. I mean look at Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch. They will be a threat next year I think. But I'd rather it be Carl win next year if he can't win this year.
  • First of all, he has not yet won it this year, He has to finish 36 or better next week,, If Edwards wins/and leads the most laps.
Next, I think Nascar should do Something else in the last 10 races, when it comes to qualifing, This year 3 races in a row, the qualifing was rained out and Johnson was given the pole. They could run qualifing at 2 am if they have to.To Me its an un-fair advantage not to have the qualifing.. No wonder Johnson is in the lead.
Next year Stewart & Newman will Surprise all, when they both make the Chase, and they both will battle it out for the championship. No one else will even come close.
  • I sincerely hope not. I am extremely tired of the "Jimmie Johnson Show"
  • Can he? Of course!
Will he? Let's just focus on Homestead today.
  • No. Enough of the "Jimmie Johnson Show: Season 4"

I have had enough. It's time for a change. It's time for a new champion. Kyle Busch or Carl Edwards, maybe?

Or how about Jeff Gordon, for his last dominant championship season?
  • Yes,he can win the War for Four(tm) ;)
  • Yes sir he sure can, the #48 team is the best in the business. If there is a team that could its them in 2009.

As far as this year goes, this is how I feel :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiYwwL5Lb...
  • He can..but I really don't want him to. I mean..i like Jimmie, but c'mon.

As an obsessed member of Junior Nation, im obligated to say that next year is Dale JR's year. :)
  • Yes he can. But there are a lot of great racers out there and former champs who could also win the Cup.
  • It's very possible, don't think he will though...
Jimmie is very good, I just don't think it's probable.
I feel like next yr will be tons different, maybe for every team/driver.

  • god i hope not!! hes already 2 cocky for his own good!!
  • Not going to happen.........Next year is Carl's year......
  • Can he? Of course.

Will he? That is yet to be seen.wrist watch cell phone cingular

    Who thinks Dale Jr.....?

    May be...

  • You know Dale Jr fans stick together and stand behind their driver no matter what, and that means if he is doing good or not so good! It's called loyalty period! I've been a Jr fan forever and I love him whether he is winning or losing and that means sticking up for him and supporting him no matter what! If you don't feel the same way maybe you should find a different driver to support. Yes I would love to see Jr win some more but compared to the train wreck that he was in while at DEI he's done terrific this year and I support and am very happy with what he has accomplished this year! and like I said before if you don't feel the same maybe finding a different driver to support would be best for you!
  • When you are Fan you stick with your driver thru thick and thin, sounds to me like you just want to be on a winning team. Why don't you jump ship and go sail with Jimmie Johnson? I have been on Jr's ship from his first Busch race and don't plan in leaving now.
  • he's worth it all and i'm sick of of hearing it
im a proud member of JR. NATION

so you need to go play with 88 lova the backstabber
  • yes he is overrated and all that but who cares it just shows that not everyone jumps bandwagons. he has done nothing to lose all of his fans so what he is a a low point so is kyle sure im kicking him wile he is down but most of his fans are staying and proving me wrong that they are not all bandwagoneers. jr could have won 3 or 4 races last year but his cars just kept blowing up on him it's not his fault just that he wasent getting quality equipment
  • At least you're honest. I don't and will never root or support losers. So switch drivers. There's no law against it. I used to root for Jimmy Spencer. He sucked so I switched to Stewart when he was a rookie. I can care less what anyone thinks.
  • He's your favorite driver????

You might wanna reconsider that, that's not the way a fan talks about his/her favorite driver.
  • Dale Jr. is worth every penny he gets. He is a common man's race car driver. Lots of people feel they can relate to him easily. I have been an Earnhardt fan all of my life. I am just as high on Jr. as I was Sr. Yes, he has only won a few races in a few years, but look at all of the turmoil he has gone through. This year was a very good year for him. He ran extremely consistent, and will probably finish in the top 10 in points, barring an accident, or big wreck in Miami. He deserves it. He and his crew have worked very hard this year. He has even undergone somewhat of an image change this year, and he still managed to run well.
Hats of to you, Dale Earnhardt Jr.!
  • Who thinks Dale Jr......

    ... is too damn overrated..?

I do. That fact proves that.

BUT... Jr. fans don't care. They love him, they will always support him.. It's okay with me, I like that. Let them do it!
  • OVERRATED
  • I don't think he isn't worth it, I know he isn't. He is way overhyped. If he was really worth all the hype that he gets, he would have a few championships under his belt already and a lot more wins, but he doesn't. There are way more talented drivers out there than Jr, but don't let any Jr fans know that...as you have seen in some of these answers already, the truth hurts.
  • ...isn't worth all the hype he receives? I was a huge Dale Sr fan when he was around and became a huge Dale Jr fan when he entered the scene, but I have been so disappointed with his performance. He has won only 3 races in the past 4 years. With all of his publicity and sponsors, I feel he is overrated now days. He is still my favorite driver, but I am starting to realize that there are others out there with way more talent than him but just don't get the same recognition.
  • Oh ya im the same i was a Sr fan when he was around and became a Jr fan when he entered. But like you said he gets way more publicity and recognition then what he deserves. But that last name is what attracts all the attention.
  • If you are so disappointed with his performance, why do you consider him to be your fave? Perhaps you aren't realistic, or are putting too high expectations on his performance. Just accept him for what and who he is and support him no matter what if you want to be considered a fan.

    *SILQ*
  • He is extremely over rated. Had Dale Sr. lived there won't have been this much hype. Even in Hendrick cars he only won a race bc of the luck of fuel mileage.backing up treo 650
  • If Jimmie Johnson wins the championship & has a 3 peat, who's 3 peat is more impressive? Cale Yarborough's or?

    May be...

  • tregosteevo nailed it.

It's like comparing apples and walnuts.

Two different eras, two different types of driving, two different types of cars.

Who's better, Richard Petty or Babe Ruth?

Cale's will probably stand out as the most difficult to obtain, and the first three peater.
  • JJ's is more cooler.... look at the era...the competition, the COT and compare it to the old days..
  • It is really hard to compare the two eras, but if I had to choose one it would be Jimmie Johnson.Back in the day, there were only a handful of full-time drivers to compete against for the championship and there were only a few of those full-time drivers that were the caliber of today's drivers. In short,it is more competitive these days.
  • Each is very impressive in its own way. Cale was the first to do it and did it against drivers like Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, and Darrel Waltrip. Jimmie and the 48 team did it in two very different types of stock cars and did it battling some of the tightest competition in Nascar.
  • Jimmie Johnson's & why do think that. I am a fan of Jimmie Johnson & as well as Gordon, Kyle Busch, Kenseth but I personally don't care for the race for the championship
  • Cale! In my eyes Jimmie is on his way to his first legit cup title. There needs to be a rule that anyone caught cheating is eliminated from the chase! What does it tell the world that both championships he has were in seasons he was caught cheating?

Also Cale had to win in all season long not just the last 10!
  • Definietly Johnson. What he is about to do is far more impressive than Cale's 3 straight titles. Johnson is doing this when there are about 20-25 cars that can win every week whereas during Cale's run there were only about 8-10 that could win every week. The 48 team is phenomenal duirng the chase and the luck they have had is just incredible. Yesterday around lap 260 when a caution came out the 48 pitted and changed 4 tires, yet upon further inspection the previous tires on the car had a small cut on the right front and had that caution not come out he would have gone a lap down and not won the race. Thsi team has had great luck and it is bound to run out eventually but it wont stop where it doesnt prevent him from winning 3 in a row
  • both are very impressive
Cale crew had to be inventive ..because of limited technology at the time
Jimmy is just as impressive probably more because the cars today are suppose to be more equal
congrats JJ on a great season!!
  • i woud think JJs is more impressive because he has to race so many more races than Cale did
  • I would have to say Johnson because there is so much more competition today...............
  • Definitely Jimmie. It may not seem like it but the competition is sooooo much tougher than back then.
  • I think jimmie johnson's win is tougher because there is more competition now than then. I think it was on nascar now the other day they mentioned that when cale yarborough was competing there were only 10 guys running full time so cale had it easier. Let's hope jimmie johnson can do 4 in a row in 09'. I think jimmie might be the driver to break the 7 championship record from richard petty and dale sr.
  • As Kenny Wallace says it's like comparing apples to oranges. Not taking anything away from Cale's accomplishments but there is a lot closer competition now than there was when he won his 3 in a row. Not only that, there are many more full time drivers and teams now. I believe there were only 14 teams that were in all 30 races in 1976, 11 in 1977 and 12 in 1978. It was a different system and atmosphere in racing back then but he beat some awesome drivers also. I am bisased and think Jimmie's 3 in a row is tougher (I don't think it will be done again under the chase system) but Cale was a tremendous champion in his own right.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • I don't know. I think Jimmie's is. Cause of the level of competition these days as well as the Chase (essentially the 2nd shot @ the Championship for the top 12).
  • Cale Yarborough. They came when crew chiefs and drivers could be creative and individuals, not the IROC vanilla NASCAR we have now. The teams can't even used a non-NASCAR approved car wax.

    May be...

  • It has nothing to do with being a female.
    It's because:
    a) You're probably older than 10 years old. Too late to start karting for a Formula 1 career.
    b) You have no background racing professional karts, junior formulae, etc.
    c) You're not a millionaire and without a backgroung you'll never get sponsors to pay for your karts/junior formula cars. Unless of course your last name is Senna or Piquet.

  • Why are people so mad that jimmy Johnson keeps winning?

    May be...

  • uhhh jimmy johnson doesnt win he doesnt even race hes a sportscaster
  • For the same reason people were upset when Kyle Busch kept winning earlier this season: They will always hate the person who is dominating, unless it's their favorite driver, regardless of whether or not that driver has talent.

  • i see that most of the people who hate Jimmie Johnson are mostly Gordon haters too. they hate Jimmie because he's a Hendrick Motorsports driver and Jeff Gordon's teammate. and most of those Gordon/Johnson haters are royal Dale Jr fans (who routed for him back when Dale Sr was still alive and running DEI.) and most are too blind to see that Dale Jr is also Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson's teammate. and now the Mark Martin fans who hate Gordon and Johnson will also turn an blind eye at Martin being the new teammate for Gordon/Dale Jr./Johnson in 2009. and there's some royal Roush Fenway nuts who want "Cousin Carl" Edwards to kill all hope of an Jimmie Three-peat. and there's the Kyle Busch fans who don't understand that just cause he's won 8 races this year doesn't mean he's championship material yet (maybe in two years or next year, but he blew his chances this year when he had four bad finishes in a row.) and then the other drivers fans who hate Jimmie/Jeff/ HMS because of their success. they are haters in sports. Dallas Cowboys fans has the New York Giants/ Washington Redskin/ Philadelphia Eagles. New York Yankees fans have the Boston Red Soxs, Texas Longhorns Fans have the Oklahoma Sooners and the LA Lakers have the other teams hatting them (i really don't follow the NBA Unless it's the Mavs.) so people will hate because their teams sucks. i would be hating Roush Fenway or Joe Gibbs if they were doing it instead of Hendrick Motorspots. that's my opinions as an Jeff Gordon/Jimmie Johnson/Dale Jr/ HMS fan.
  • i aint mad i just wished you'd shut up
  • look why cant they just respect the fact that he is that good, and understand that you don't need to spread it around for it to be entertaining? just deal with it hes better
  • I respect his talent, but I'm a old school Cale Yarborough fan, and I want Cale's record to stand.. thats all..

    Go Dale Jr,.
  • People want to see someone else win something for once, mainly.(This win at Phoenix was Jimmie Johnson's 40th win. He's only been racing full-time since 2002. Amazing, huh?) Some other people just don't want to see Cale's record beaten.

Jimmie Johnson(7 wins), Kyle Busch(8 wins), and Carl Edwards(8 wins) have combined to win 23 out of 36 races this year. That's over half. Nobody else has more than two wins. Thats ridiculous in every single sense of the word. That's why people are so angry.
  • Because there's so many drivers who have not won a championship and he keeps on closing the door on those drivers. Enough is enough. If wins the championship again this year. I'll be angry but next year he needs to be off the radar and let another driver win the championship.
  • No kidding! I've noticed that, regardless of the sport, people HATE good athletes. Give credit where credit is due.
  • He is a great driver, but fans are ready for someone else to win. Same thing happened to Gordon, fans still can't stand him.
  • I'd have a little more respect for him if he actually was RACING vs. starting on the pole all the time. You get the top spot in the starting grid AND get the first pit stall, then of COURSE you'll be first all the time, hence you win. I think that's what is annoying people....this season was practically GIVEN to Jimmie Johnson
  • because he's gay......go 88
  • Becouse he is winning, its the same reason why theu were mad when Jeff G.was winning, they wish there driver was winning.car water damage

  • I love everyone on my contact list and a few I may have not added. I only think that 2 regular posters are a complete waste of DNA.
  • i hate picking favorites, and would hate it if i forgot anybody, so i'm just going to say that i have love all of my contacts :)
  • I like all of my contacts - no way I could pick a top 5. They are all valuable to me for different reasons. Some are smart, some are funny, some are just downright lovable.

EDIT: "strО±О№tС"dgС" Viva La RockSt*r" is one of the smart, funny AND lovable ones. : )

  • Comments from Rusty Wallace Again?

    May be...

  • He could very well be right. Negative things said sometimes are true.
  • Not "bashing" Jr., but you have to face it fan or not, Rusty is right he has not improved at all. Poor poor Jr and his fans - I am sick of hearing other people saying all great Jr. is the best - lets all face it, he kind of still falls short (way short) of being the great racer most talk about. If his father where alive I think he would be totally different. One way or another because I think his father would have kicked his all famous son's butt by now!
  • it would be freaking nice if I knew what you were talking about.
  • he is the worst commentator that I have ever heard. He know it all, and he tells you that he does. he needs to retire.Dale Jarrett is much better .
  • Rusty needs to retire and keep spending his millions on supporting his sons campaign on crashing everyone and every week in the nationwide series!
  • Rusty Wallace is the John Force (NHRA) of NASCAR. Rusty yammers about anything and everything. He always has.
  • Freedom of speech. I don't have to like or agree with everything people say.
  • Rusty couldn't be anymore dead on. He's only stating what a person with normal vision sees including myself and any fan of Jr that lives in reality. Jr hasn't improved one bit. The stats prove it.
  • What do you think of his comments about Dale Jr., seems to me he has stuck foot into mouth again.....he just needs to retire in my opinion..he must hate on everyone, this time it's Dale Jr???

Give honest opinions, no bashing Jr or other drivers, just opinions of Rusty(No bashing really); just what do you think..he opens mouth before thinking or what??

  • Rustys just hating cause NASCAR listens when Jr speaks.
  • He is a announcer for ESPN isn't commenting in his job description. Im pretty sure freedom of speech is still practiced here in USA, God forbid anything said by anyone about Dale Jr. No bashing on Jr but lets do it to everyone else. (no bashing, really) If Rusty gets on your nerves change the TV station.

Im not a fan of Rusty's TV skill nor am I a Jr fan bashing his crew chief or his pit crew every other lap on the scanner.
  • What did Rusty say about Jr? I missed it.
  • Not a very big Rusty Wallace fan, Big Junior fan. But, he has a right to say whatever he wants. Freedom of Speech. Not going to hold that against him. But I dont also have to agree with him either.

I do believe Junior has improved since he left DEI. Maybe not alot but he has some. Next year will be better.2006 amplifier ces tube
  • Which NASCAR driver is Irish?

    May be...

  • Tony O'Stewart
    Jimmie O'Johnson
    Casey O"Mears

  • Brian Vickers is Irish, and "mulligan" is the term for his Lucky Charms.
  • hmmm, dario franchitti is scottish. i'm sure many of the others have irish ancestry.

the term mulligan comes from golf. it is meant as a "do-over" and in a friendly game you may get one or more, depending upon how "friendly" your rules are. they are usually taken at the first shot off a hole. some charity tournaments sell "mulligans" so participants can buy "do-overs."

they way they use it in nascar is incorrect. they use it to mean a "bad race" that everyone gets in the chase, based on the assumption that everyone will have one (or more). one or two golf-savvy commentators have mentioned that it's not really a "mulligan" as a driver doesn't actually get to do it over like a golfer does after a bad shot. it's not a bad assumption in that in ten races something will generally happen to each driver from finishing well at least once. but last year showed that not to be necessarily true as neither jimmie nor jeff had to use a "mulligan."
  • Kieran Dynes
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kieran_Dyne...

He used his mulligans up. He died 2 years ago.
  • I think it's Carl Edwards and mulligan means a piece of luck.
  • I have no idea,but I am Scots-Irish :) Leprechaun with a kilt LOL
  • and what's up with the term "mulligan"?
  • a mulligan is a term used by the average golfer
you get on mulligan per side [9holes] and only from your tee shot
you hit a bad tee shot you take your mulligan if you done used it you got to play it where it lays
  • i believe its the driver who has o reilly auto parts as his sponsor and idk about mulligancbs fall premier
