Can you think of a sentence ONLY a Nascar fan would understand?

May be...

  • Not really a sentence, but a conversation:

Driving teacher: "No, no, no, no!!!!!!!!!!"

    Student: "What???"

DT: "You're doing it all wrong!"

    Student: "... how?"

DT: "See, you're not diving to the bottom of the turn to get the best line! And once you hit the straight, you're supposed to keep the car... RIGHT against the wall...er, guardrail."

    Student: "I'll hit somebody!"

DT: "You want to get there first, don't you?"

    Student: "Yeah..." (rolls eyes)

DT: "Then draft them. Once you get within five feet, jump to the left or the right real quick. That my naive student is called the slingshot."
  • Were gonna pull a rubber outta that right rear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I knocked a couple of tenths off when I started diamonding the corner down there in 1 and 2.
  • how about a movie quote from Days Of Thunder?

Harry Hogge: Cole, you're wandering all over the track!

Cole Trickle: Yeah, well this son of a ***** just slammed into me.

Harry Hogge: No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'.

Is there a race on Sunday in Brazil that some nascar drivers will be racing in?

    May be...

  • Don't think so Brazil is under water right now.
  • Not exactly. In Brazil has a motorcar league called Stock Car, quite similar as Nascar, with high local importance and growing fastly, which final race will be december, 7th, in Sao Paulo City, but none nascar driver is expected or invited to goes on. I believe that major local tv network, TV Globo, will broadcast at live by cable channel, but I donВґt know how to find at internet. Right?!
  • Its a local charity event. It may be taped but not televised as such. SPEED probably will show highlights on the SPEED Report. As far NASCAR representation, just Jeff Gordon. Michael Schumacher is supposed to be in it as well.
  • Just one NASCAR driver...

... and it is Jeff Gordon.
<<<<< THAT fella sitting on the high banks of Daytona!

Let's see...Felipe Massa, Micheal Schumacher, and some other guys too... Is Tony Kanaan running in it?

    Oh wait here you go:

  • What channel is it on (or internet)

    What kind of race?

What nascar drivers will be driving in it?xicn
  • NASCAR fans...........?

    May be...

  • Yes, Carpentier, and Yeley.
  • The Dinger and there are more. Hopefully someone will pick them up . I like A.J. and would love to see him racin next year.
Happy Thanksgiving to you also Winter and to all of Nascar Nation.
  • The Dinger and Carpentier and what about Scott Riggs.. Happy Turkey Day all..

    G0 Dale Jr & Hms in 2009
  • You know Im going to choose Steve Wallace, but realistically that not going to happen. He needs a few more decent years in the Nationwide series to get to going good. Im proud of him though for all the progress he has made being able to driver at that level and battling Turrets Syndrome. Great Job Steven!

Realistically Im saying Mike Bliss. I know he has been around awhile but he is a very competitive driver in the Nationwide series and hangs in there with the big boys that race from the cup series. He is a steady top 10 in the standing guys. He is not a flashy or pretty boy so him making a steady living at the cup series doesn't look well.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too and to all of the Nascar Nation!

    Later
  • A.J. Allmendinger, Scott Riggs, Patrick Carpentier, and Jeremy Mayfield.

EDIT: Definitely Regan Smith as well, thanks for reminding me Maggie. ;)

    And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
  • Are there any drivers who currently don't have a ride that you think deserves one?
  • regan smith ------------the rest have at least had a chance
and he lost 1 by default lol
  • Yes, A.J. Allmendinger. He did a great job with the #84 in '08. I was surprised that he got fired. Then he got in the #10 and did even better each and every race. Wherever it is, I hope he gets a ride and is racing in '09. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
  • Patrick Carpentier.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too :)
  • In order:

    Scott Riggs
    Jeremy Mayfield
    AJ Allmindinger
    Regan Smith
    Patrick Canpentier
  • AJ Allmendinger. After finally showing some improvement they give him the heave ho. Hopefully he will be able to find something next season.
  • AJ i felt so bad for him when he got kicked out cuz he was just getting to do so well he probabley coulda won sooner or later
  • no
  • Aj Allmendinger, Jermey Mayfield, Jeff Green, Sterling Marlin, and Tony Rains.
  • JJ Yeley just because .... :0)

Seriously Regan Smith and I think David Stremme should take over Sam Hornish's ride.

and the rest that wwere mentioned above me....heck give'em all a ride...lol
  • I say Regan Smith. He almost won or did win (depending on what side of the fence you fall) and he won rookie of the year. He deserves another shot at it.

    Happy Thanksgiving! :)
  • A.J. Allmendinger and Patrick Carpentier.

    The jimmy johnsen "dynasty" ?

    May be...

  • No. I have trouble saying any participant in an individual sport is a dynasty because they won a championship unless they dominated the season. While Rich Hendrick, Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus have figured out the formula for the championship, but Johnson only had seven wins this year. In 2007, he was a little more dominate with 10 wins, but had only five wins in 2006.

If you look at dynasties, the teams not only won the championship, but dominated the season. The most recent NFL dynasty, for instance, the New England Patriots, were not only expected to win the Super Bowl, but to dominate their division and win every game except, perhaps, for one or two meaningless games at the end of the season. While you expect Johnson to win, or at least compete, for the championship, you don't expect him to win every race.

While Johnson has won the last three championships, the only semi-dominate season in those three years was 2007 when he won 10 of 36 races and finished in the top 5 20 times and top 10 24 times. To me, that's like an NFL team going 10-6 or 11-5 and winning the Super Bowl. Very nice season, but not super dominate.

In my opinion, there have only been five potential dynasties in NASCAR. From 1995 to 1998, Jeff Gordon won three of the four championships. He was not only dominate in the final standings, but he was also dominate on the track, winning 13 of 33 races and finishing in the top 5 26 times in 1998. In 1997, Gordon won 10 of 32 races and finished in the top 5 22 times. In 1996, Gordon finished second in the season standings, losing by 37 points, winning 10 of 31 races and finishing in the top 5 21 times. Gordon's run started with the 1995 championship. In what would be his weakest year in the four-year run, he won only seven of 31 races, finished in the top 5 17 times and in the top 10 23 times.

In 127 races over the four year period, Gordon won 40 races and finished in the top 5 an amazing 86 times, meaning he ran outside the top 5 only 41 times. There were times in that run where you wondered if he was going to let anyone else win and that's the mark of a dynasty.

From 1981 to 1983, Darrell Waltrip won two championships and finished second once. He won 30 of 91 races and finished in the top 5 60 times.

From 1974 to 1978, Cale Yarbrough won the championship three times and finished second once. In 120 races over the four year period, Yarbrough won 38 times and finished in the top 5 87 times, meaning he had only 33 finishes over four years outside the top 10.

The longest dynasty, IMO, is Richard Petty, the King, who reigned from 1967 to 1977, where, over an 11-year period, he finished first in the final standings five times and second three times -- which ain't bad for an individual sport. His lowest finish over those 11 years was 5th, including 1970 when he missed five races due to an injury suffered at Darlington but still managed 18 wins and 27 top 5s in 40 races that year. In those 11 years, he won 137 wins, which is 22 more races than any other driver has won in their career, and finished in the top 5 297 times. When Petty came to the track, people expected him to win, which is the definition of a dynasty.

The first dynasty was Herb Thomas, who had a good run from 1951 to 1956 when he captured two titles and finished second three times over a six year period. Thomas won 47 of the 213 races he competed in and added 121 top 5s.
  • i'm sorry you totally have me confused with your "additional details"
besides "chatting" you should get this question deleted for not even knowing how to spell a 3 time NASCAR Champions name.
  • Yes he does and it will be a dynasty for a long time to come.
  • Jimmy Johnson can *********
  • No lets start todays sport debate by learning how to spell Jimmy Johnsens name. First its Jimmie. Then his last name is spelled Johnson. Get it.
  • It is a dynasty in NASCAR standards. One cannot compare NASCAR to other "stick and ball" sports because even though NASCAR is a team sport,it has a different concept. For example,NFL teams only play one other team for each game, whereas NASCAR teams compete against 42 others each week.My point is that it is harder to beat 42 other teams every week than it is to beat only one other team.Jimmie Johnson and Team Lowe's definitely have a NASCAR dynasty on their hands and it is awesome.
  • Well let's look at recent dynasties...
    1996-2000 yankees (4 of 5)
    1999-2002 Lakers (3of 3)
    1990-1998 Bulls (6 of 8)
2001-2004 Even though i hate them Patriots (3 of 4)

    2006-2008 Jimmie Johnson (3 of 3)

based on the standards, Johnson fits in the club. He's dominated Nascar like no other man has done in recent years. Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt never won three straight. Cale Yarborough is the only other to win three staight (1976-1978).
  • ok so lets start today's sports debate by asking if you think jimmy johnsen meets today's standards of a sports "dynasty" have fun :)fuck homer marge pic

Should NASCAR ban testing on all tracks, not just NASCAR sanctioned tracks?

    May be...

  • No that's silly. That's like not letting a quarterback throw a football until game day. Think about it for a second.
  • yes
  • For sure. While they're at it the truck series should be eliminated. Please, has been driver's racing accentually a vehicle meant for work purposes.
  • Should the NFL NBA MLB NHL not be allowed to practice either??
  • No i dont think they should if they do that it would cut out goodyear tire test. Then the tire problems would be alot worse.
  • Ya then it would really even things out.
  • I think so, they ban everything else and then some. They have hancuffed the crew chiefs.insertions pics

  • Are there specialized tools the pitt crew uses in Nascar?

    May be...

  • yes, the impact guns most teams use are Ingersoll Rand thunder guns, but not the everyday guns you find in a store, they are hurd thunder guns, 25,000 rpms..they retail for around $1400, also the sockets are around $60-$70, and are loaded with a spring that ejects the lug from the socket. i know this b/c i go to the pit instructional training school in mooresville nc, hope this helps!
  • the impact wrench and the jack are both specially made for racing. the average person would not be able to push the handle on the jack down to lift a vehicle. it has much more lift per stroke.
  • Craftsman The Official Tool of NASCAR

    Craftsman at Sears
  • They'd have to be specialized tools for the kind of speed that is needed to get the job done.
  • I was reading somewhere the air gun (socket for lug nuts) is specialized for Nascar. Is this true?

What other tools are specialized for just Nascar (if any)?
  • I'm sure it is, those kind of RPMs on a street car might rip the lug studs off. Lol Almost every Nascar tool on pit road is specialized for Nascar.garden rambler
  • Who wants to see Jeff Gordon flat-out lose in '09?

    May be...

  • No I don't. I hope you flat out get a life.
  • Im not a Jeff Gordon fan. But a win would be good for him. I think it would feed the competition because that would be just one more person to beat.
  • you do
  • no one
  • i hope so.
  • You and your lap dog
  • I hope not...
  • The best way to see Jeff Gordon flat-out lose in '09, is to have me pick him as the driver I want to be......I suck at that video game.
  • No one for sure. Jeff is too good of a driver to go winless again in 09. I wish they'd get rid of Steve Letarte as Jeff's crew chief. I can't spell Steve's last name right.
  • I don't want to see him lose but i would love to see him win another championship.
  • I don't, and i don't think a lot of people would
  • you do
  • I do not want to see it. Jeff Gordon is good for NASCAR.Don't count him out. I look for Gordon to win races next year and move to 3rd on the all time wins list.iguidance gps
  • Why do most dale jr fans like Tony Stewart?

    May be...

  • Because they seem to like each other. You can always see them drafting together, more than they draft with their teammates.
  • If they were smart they would only like Stewart
  • not to shure on that one
  • They have to pull for someone that can win on a regular basis.
  • Because they are firends and get along with each other.

Law of NASCAR: Whatever Jr. prefers, his fans (aka, most of NASCAR Nation) prefer it also.
  • I've seen a few of them say they are.
Can't be because of his personality, he's opinionated, aggressive and doesn't back down for nothing.
(That's why I love him) of course that's also why I love Rowdy Busch, and they don't, so I don't know why, enquiring minds do want to know.
  • Well I'm not a Jr fan so I dunno....

Most of the ones I know though don't really care for him that much. I started liking Tony about 3 years ago when him and Kevin became such good friends. Now I just like him for his talent and personality.
  • Do they? I never noticed.
  • Well Junior is my favorite and Tony Is my 2nd favorite. I like Tony because he is a tell it like is kind of person. They are actually almost pretty opposite of one another. They also worked very well on the track together. Better than their own teammates.
  • i said most so not big deal
  • I aint neve seen a Jr fan who is a Stewart fan. I can't stand Stewart but I'm a Jr fan.
  • Okay I'm a die hard Jr fan and I also like Tony! And I like Tony because for one he's from my home state but that's not the only reason, I just like his bad boy attitude and the way he drives and I love the fact that he may be a bad boy but he's really got a heart of gold! So that's my answer! (yeah winter I know you'd think I'd like Kyle for the same reasons I listed but I can't help it I've liked Tony for a long time and hey maybe he and Jr kind of even each other out for me haha)

What to get to know your Nascar Nation fans a bit better?

    May be...

  • A star for not drinking =D

What's your favourite comedy? Mine is Zoolander!
  • I have a slight Oklahoma accent.
  • I guess I have a Midwestern accent.
  • I've been told that I have a strong Jersey accent, kind of like Joe Pesci, but of course I don't hear it. I probably have, at some point, pronounced "youths" like "yoots". Let's just say The Sopranos took place in my back yard.

Like Andrea, mashed potatos are my favorite part of Thanksgiving. And my beloved's pumpkin pie - he makes his own recipe out of real pumpkins and it's to die for.
  • Lets ask stupid questions to learn more about each other. We need all the fun we can get during the off season.

My question: Do you have an accent?

I have a slight southern accent.
  • Do you drink beer at a race? I do as long as its american made
  • stupid question====stupid answers
  • I used to when I was younger. Massachusetts accent, I sounded like JFK.
I've been out west long enough now that I don't so much. Unless I'm good and ticked off.

One time my son went to run out into the street and my East coast accent came out and instead of yelling Christopher I yelled Christopha.

  • I have a Southern accent. I don't drink beer--no offense to anybody, I just don't like the taste. My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is my mama's deviled eggs. I only get them on holidays.

Stupid question--stupid question--oh, does anybody have a vanity license plate with their driver's name or number on it? Like "LUV88" or "ROWDY" or that sort of thing?
  • Ya i guess i have a slight southern accent to.

    Ya i can't drink.

Family time is the best time when it comes to Thanksgiving.
  • I'm from Tennessee so I have a Southern accent.

I drink a beer or two (sometimes wine) during some races but only if I'm not driving.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie.

Here is a question for others: Where do you eat at for Thanksgiving? At home, with a relative, restaurant, etc.

Edit: I like Jeremy Mayfield a lot and miss him in races!
  • I have a Midwestern accent. What's your favorite color?
  • I can imitate British and Australian accents, but I probably have a Southern drawl. Question: Does anyone else like Jeremy Mayfield and Davey Allison. I love the turkey and mashed potatos and pumpkin pie with LOTS of Cool Whip.
  • I don't have an accent that I know of. But I've been known to acquire a little bit of a southern accent when I'm in like company.
  • Northeast accent?
  • Nope, no accent. :)
  • If you want to consider people from the north to have accents, than I have a northern accent. But if not, than I dont have an accent. (not a northern accent from like Boston)

Maggie: Mashed Potatoes!!! My absolute favorite thing, I could eat that and only that for the whole thanksgiving meal.
  • Well I am from Louisiana so I guess I have a Southern accent at least that is what Tregoseevo tells me. I drink beer at races ,I just do it in moderation so I can remember the race ! And I am with you on the leftover turkey sandwiches !
  • Not really..

..but I can do a British accent.. I am kinda fond of their accent.. It's sounds sick!
  • Nah, I live in a small town near Philadelphia. No accents here.

What country, what year, and what speedway ?

  • Who was the most improved driver in 08?

    May be...

  • David Ragan,with Jamie McMurray being a close 2nd
  • Ragan by far, with McMurray with a good improvement.
  • David Ragan by far.
Even though Dale Junior did alot better this season, David improved alot better.
  • Elliott Sadler, he didn't end up on his roof this year!
  • David Ragan. I think that even though he didn't make the chase, he was still one of the most consistent drivers. I can't wait for the 2009 season, he's going to do terrific.
  • Definitely David Ragan. In '07, he only had three Top 10's the whole year. This year, he had fourteen Top 10's. Plus, he was consistent and not tearing up a lot of cars. He did a good job and might be able to do even better in 2009.
  • A.J. Allmendinger.
  • im going to have to say dale jr!!!! now i know every ones like what are you thinking? well if you look from last season he didn't do well at all! didn't even make the chase! his confidence was down and really wanted to win! I think the point across the map is, Dale made the chase! he won the bud shoot out, he won the Gatorade duel and he had 1 win in the regular season! it was a big step up for jr! and he proved to allot of people that he still had it in him!
  • David Ragan. Definately, he has gone from hitting the wall every week and taking people out, to being up front and finishing 13 in the points.
  • David Ragan in terms of general driving & ending points position.
    but
Brian Vickers/David Reutimann/Michael Watrip in terms of 2007 to 2008 final points position.

  • For me it is definitely David Ragan . Last year he was wrecking all of the time and this year he almost won a couple of races.good her own
  • What does the nation think of this nascar vid?

    May be...

  • Yeah I agree with everyone here. Earnhardts crash should of never been in that. That was a sad sad day in Nascar.
  • i laughed when i saw it but ive heard people talking bout bone head moves i found this one what do you think
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1a_gVRXF...
  • Yeah it was ok until they showed the wreck of Dale Earnhardt. After that everything in the video seemed minuscule
  • I totally agree with what superdave and Tom said, it was okay until they showed Sr 's wreck I hated seeing it when it happened and I don't like reliving it! sorry, but it was alright until that!
  • It's started off good but they crossed the line with Sr., that wasn't boneheaded, that was tragic. I do have to say the two biggest bonehead moves I've seen in Nascar are Dave Blaney in the 2007 Daytona 500 flying off pit road at full speed into traffic and Kevin Lepage in the Nationwide race at Talladega this year taking the prize.
  • you're gay with Jeff Gordon.
  • The Nation has spoken.....showing Seniors wreck was tasteless. I don't care to see that ever again. Seeing it when it happened was bad enough. That just kinda took away the funniness. Sorry, but that's just how I feel. :`(
  • It only reopens some wounds. There are other bonehead moves in NASCAR you could have linked to.suldat
  • MY CAR IS FASTER THEN YOURS!!!!!!?

    May be...

  • There are much more faster cars out there than yours, and much more modest people, and anyway is your life that sad and are you that ugly that you need to make up for it with a faster than normal but not anywhere near the fastest car and then go online and go on and on about it?? are you the kind of guy that walks into a bar and says hey check out my car and everyone tells you to shut up or we`ll kick your ***..
  • Is the gear stick between your legs?
  • ****, and what does this have to do with F1 you ********!
  • Suppose the next person who answers this has a Bugatti Veyron or a Pagani Zonda or something like that. I bet you'd feel a bit silly then.
The only thing you should do with it now is burn it. I just googled it and damn, that's a boring looking car. It looks like the kind of car middle aged people buy because they think it makes them look young.
As far as Mitsubisi goes, do yourself a favour and get a Lancer evo, at least that car has some pedigree in racing.
  • I think you should go buy a real car, if it don't have 8 cyl's its not a car its a rice rocket. and you are on crack if you think you got the fastest thing there is. if you can drive it everyday there are a ton of people with street legal cars that will blow your doors off.
  • probably... i have 3 ... a C class, and E class estate and and SL 500...but i know im a faster driver, and in any of my cars i look a whole lot cooler than you... grow up... punk...

PS btw, in case u dont know, those are all mercedes benz... punk...

PS2 im willing to bet you dont even have a decent car... mine are right down in my garage... punk...

  • Tally!
  • Super-speedways for sure. They are a ball with the 3 and 4 wide racing, passing on the top middle and low line. Everyone has a shot and track position doesn't really matter. Fun stuff.
  • Intermediate. I like competition. I don't like the big wrecks. But since NASCAR took the competitiveness out of building a racecar, we might as well go for the thrill factor of a superspeedway. That's NASCARs fault.
  • SuperDuperSpeedways!
  • Super speedways!! Love the drafting and speed.
  • SUPERSPEEDWAYS, I have the need for SPEED. !!!!!!!!!!!! 1
  • Well Michigan shouldnt really be considered a intermediate track because of the speeds, it was actually like a superspeedway for a couple of years. But I like Superspeedways the most beecause of the speed.
  • Talladega (superspeedway) are fun.

I love short track racing though.
  • intermediate tracks
  • I love the superspeedways the best of all!!!
  • How did you post this question under 20 characters?
  • Superspeedways, gotta love da draft.
  • Speedways.
  • Superspeedways!
  • Superspeedways !
  • do you like intermediate tracks or superspeedways better
    example:Talladega(SS) Michagin(I)

    whats funner?
  • Intermediate sucks for me. There's no competion there. Talledega is an example of NASCAR.
  • They are all funner to me in someway Mr Tarter.defloration porn video
  • Has anyone in NASCAR ever started in 43rd (LAST) and won?

    May be...

  • If so... who and what year if you know.... thanks.
  • Ya it happens more often then you would think. Im not gonna look any dates up though, you get to have fun doing that.
  • didn't dale jr. do it in 2005? i think in the nationwide race or he started way back and won the race.
  • Yes. According to this link, Kevin Harvick won the 2005 Food City 500 at Bristol after starting 43rd. He had to go to back of the pack because of unapproved impound work. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/sports/4... I'm sure there were other times it happened, but that's the only one I can think of.
  • Greg Biffle -- Samsung 500 in 2005
  • Yes but I can't recall right now. I think Harvick did at Bristol, but I know there have been others.bwi weather

    #96 - TBD
  • to answer fire storm no Evernham Motorsports wont make the switch to toyota! nascar has banned toyota from adding anymore teams to there manufacture!
  • Could be all of them because if NASCAR doesn't lift ban and if business plan by little three american auto co's is not accepted by congress Toyota and Ford going be only one left who is racing now. Ford has enough money to last till 2010 but most likelly will cut back to conserve the cash
  • Joe Gibbs Racing (#11, #18, #20)
    Team Red Bull (#82, #83)
    Michael Waltrip Racing (#00, #55)
    JTG Daugherty Racing (#47)

Does anyone know when and where the nascar awards ceremony will be broadcast this year?

    May be...

  • It will be at the Waldorf Astoria hotel and it will be on Friday, December 5th. TV Coverage is on ESPN Classic at 9PM eastern.
  • It will take place at the Waldorf- Astoria hotel in New York.
    Sometime in January, I believe.
  • The celebration to the most overrated and boring event with cars, (notice i didn't say sport), NASCAR will be of all places in New York. Don't know why they don't have it at some rednecks backyard.pda processor types
  • Hylton is going to attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500...?

    May be...

  • dead
  • Age is only a number, if you still have the mind and the body and a decent car go for it. With the economy the way it is he might have a real shot at it, there might not be any go or go homers. I think a 74 y/o in the COT now could survive a wreck. If Nascar has any safety issues with him, I'm sure they would tell him no.. I say go for it, I remember him back in the day, he wasn't Pearson or Petty but he was a pretty good ole boy driver..

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2009
  • Hylton attempted to qualify for a dozen ARCA races in 2007.Though he did not qualify for all of them he did make the field. He did not finish on the lead lap and infact he dropped out in most of them.
He has attempted the Daytona race at least 2 other times and was no where close to qualifing.
How old is too old?Well each individual is different as Red Farmer still races nearly every week he is reported to be 75,and he even won a race this year.
As long as he passes the physical, let him race.
  • morgan shephard aint much younger is he
they might have went to different schools together
  • I commend his attitude, but he doesn't have the car fast enough to qualify for the 500.

Take for example this year, he attempted to qualify but miss the show.

So just take it as a publicity stunt.
  • He still can race. Remember he almost made the 2007 Daytona 500? Yeah, he fell back in the gatorade duels with a few laps remaining, but just because your old, doesn't mean your limited to doing stuff.
  • He's representing for the Geritol generation.

    Good for him.
  • The mans a legend. Yall are a bunch of *** holes. As far as him racing goes i think its good that hes gonna try. It shows the young racers that age doesn't matter.
  • If he can qualify, go for it. If he's not all hooked up to machines and is capable of driving , why not. There are a lot of older people that are in better health than some young people. If I were a Nascar driver I'm sure I'd get the urge now n then to jump in a car and race too. No different than the fans, it's in your blood.
  • Good for him. Certainly will be worth watching.
  • At 74 years old, how old is too old for Nascar?
  • Again! Cool! That's Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!
  • As long as he doesn't put himself or other drivers in danger by being on the track I don't think you can be too old.
  • Heck Yeah! Let him race! I think it's Awesome that he's wanting to! Hope he does good!
  • Again? If that is what he wants, then good for him. But, you're right. 74 is pretty old. He's even older than Richard Petty and he has been retired since 1992! But he actually did okay in the Gatorade Duels in 2007. I wish him good luck on his chances. EDIT: I just thought of something. What if Hylton ended up making the race and someone running the whole season like Bowyer, Sorenson, or Hornish ended up missing the race? That sure would be interesting...
  • So long as he's not a danger to the other drivers, good for him. As far as him not being able to take a wreck--well, I'm sure he knows the risks and it's up to him. Neil Bonnett went out and raced after he was warned by doctors he wouldn't survive another hard hit.
  • If he will be sponsored by viagra then there will be no problem qualifying. That should get him 'up' there.

No age is too old; if you can do it then you can even if your 100. By 'do it,' I mean race.
  • Heck, the way the economy is going there may not be enough drivers to fill the 43 car field and he may make it by just showing up. I dont think thats going to happen but who knows. Good luck to him. At 74 I will be just glad to watch a race when I get that old.

LOL storm, for me Mark Martin will always be known as "stiffy" for having Viagra as sponsor.
  • There's no such thing as too old. I say Richard Petty should attempt the 500 for old times sake.

    Age is just a number.
  • He wont beat Dale Jr thats four sure. Gooder for him tho.based credit location
  • NASCAR Nation, was it a weird day for you, too?

    May be...

  • A week already? I miss racing. As a Nation, "We're all in this together." LOL! I hate that movie.
  • well my day was fine up to about 30 minutes ago
    boy it turned sour then
  • Yes, it was. But Daytona will be here soon and the banquet will be even sooner. Hopefully, we will still have fun here at Yahoo! Answers.
  • yes it was. i'm starting to go through withdraws :( fortunately i have races from 2003 on to look at for for the next few months.
  • OMG. I felt the same way... I was about to post a Q about it, too..

It feels really depressing.... it does..

    No NASCAR weekend..
  • Jeez. You folks make me feel like the luckiest guy in the world. It was shaping up to be a really crappy day. Then my best friend, who is also a NASCAR fanatic called. We were on the phone for like 10 or 12 hours. It's a bonus that she is also the love of my life and the sexiest woman God ever created. So, all in all, I gotta say it was a good day. Peace y'all.
  • I just can't wait to see Tony next year in his new race car.
  • Well I got the ole chain saw out and started cutting up A tree I had dropped in the yard.
  • I got abducted by space aliens today. No, just kidding. I do have a lull (pain) in my heart (like when you lose a pet) that Nascar is not on. No joke, I was thinking about that today and I just got sad.
  • It's times like this that we (the NASCAR family that we are) need to comfort each other and help one another get through these bleak and dismal next few months.

    I'm here for you guys!!

Lynn...."You can do it, we can help" -Home Depot-
  • It was so...empty.
  • No practice, no qualifying, no racing. I need some encouragement, please. Is it February 2009 yet? lol
  • Yes and it started yesterday afternoon. I was sitting here lookin for practice, quals, anything then all of a sudden it dawned on me...the season is over. What a let down. :(
You're not alone, and I'm sure I'll do it at least once again before my brain figures it out.
  • Yeah it was a yuky day. I've decided to invite family/friends over, watch football (or whatever). I feel like if we go on as before, we're gonna get through this.
Dave you cracked me up! Was she serious, or playing a joke on ya? LMAO
  • YES!!!!

    2009 can't come sooner!

    Gosh darn it!

Well, my UC Bearcats are playing the BIGGEST game in Cincy college football history... if they win vs. Pitt then.....

ORANGE BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRST EVER BCS GAME IN CINCY HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!
  • looks like it's time 4 me to get back into football, can't wait till daytona 500 and California. Californias more important though cause I'm gonna be there, until then GO CHARGERS and in February GO BIFFLE
  • It was so weird to me. Having withdraws. Before we know it it will be Racing season again.
  • Watch another sport. Football, hockey, college football, college basketball, basketball, soccer. Thats what keeps me going.
  • So far I'm okay with it, I'm a huge college football fan so that has been what I have been watching, but being unemployed I've been spending most of my time on the job sites on line. Tomorrow is NFL so I will survive, before we all know it Thanksgiving & Christmas and New Yrs will be here again gone, then there will be more Nascar rumors, etc, etc then before you know we will all be in front of our TVs or at Speedweeks in Daytona.

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2009
  • withdrawal sucks...I am hating it...
  • I caught a 90 lb tarpon today. One good thing about the season being over is I book more gigs and catch more fish. It's all good. Daytona will be here before you know it Lynn.

    Have a nice night.

    Tbone
  • yes...im glad that im not the only one!!! lol to bad there isnt some kinda of medicine for thos sickness lol.....i guess its a good thing i have tevo im currently watch the fall texas game!! Carl with an 8 sec lead rite now....
  • Hang in there, we're all in this together.
  • I'm so going through withdrawls, I timed myself driving around the block twice, damn stop signs totally killed my time though.
  • yeah I miss it already. but I have been ill anyway so my day really sucked.
  • dude me too! This morning when I woke up I was so pissed... no NW series! or practice!
  • Yeah wasn't a very good day today. ANd jeez it has only been a week. I just try and keep my self busy cleaning or doing stuff that I put off since this past season. AS long as we have some questions on Y/A it should keep me going until Speed weeks starts.
  • sinnce its nascars offseason...im focusing on basketball season(nba)
  • It was going ok today until about 3 pm and my wife asked me who was on the pole for Sunday's race and what time the Nationwide race started. For real. I had to look. Im with ya, we are all here for each other during this emptiness we are experiencing now. Im here for you all!
  • Not really, watched football, hung out with friends. Didn't realize its already been a week since Homestead.
  • Yeah, after a while I couldn't take it no more so I watched dales movie 3 & I felt much better.st james at the vineyard
