Who else doesn't like the BBC commentary for the F1?

May be...

  • Yeah Legard seems a bit rusty to be honest....

I hope Brundle is still doing his pre-race interviews like normal, if not then that is a shot in the foot....
  • Martin Brundle is amazing and I love him to bits but Jonathan Legard isn't up to scratch.

  • Does the entire world know that Jenson Button will start from?

    May be...

  • he is on pole because of the car not driving skills he has.!!!!!!!!
  • Well, here in the US, it's not big racing news.

But I know, 'cause I stayed up for it!
  • (A) I'm certain my wife doesn't know that Button's on pole, and she was in the room with me while I watched the repeat of qualifying today...and (B) I wasn't aware of the effect it had had on you either!

    Edit
No, she hasn't a clue who's on pole and doesn't really care either as long as I don't wake her up watching it early tomorrow morning.
  • Me two, well happy about him getting pole but Im a guy.
    Ja.
  • I prefere Lewis but i'm happy with Jenson on pole cause i'd prefere him to Massa or Kimi
  • hope he wins too, and goes on to win the championship
  • Pole Position just like Oz 2006.

He has a much better chance to win tomorrow unless he tangles with Rubens
  • How awesome huh?!?! As a McLaren fan I really hope that things pick up for them but as an English person .... YAY!!! It's about time Jenson had a bit of luck :-)
  • Yes i am too:) There are some quite good looking people starting near the front :))
Its so brilliant. The whole season has been turned on its head. All the good drivers and teams are at the back, and all the crap drivers and teams are at the front. Its weird to think that 2 weeks ago, Brawn only really existed as a concept. The car parts were still in the factories, yet both of the new cars have debuted in the first two places. i really think Jenson deserves it. He is a really good driver, and it isn't down to the engine, and he has proved this by beating Rubens, who is the experienced, knowledgeable veteran of the sport, and i think after all the team has been through, he deserves it.

You know, i think that if the FIA rule the diffusers legal, then Button may well win the Championship, and i think he has a seriously good chance of winning tomorrow. I also think Barichello, Vettle and Rosberg have good chances, especially Vettle and Rosberg, who are incredible drivers, but lack power in their cars, still their cars have improved and its looks to be a good season for them.
  • yh good for him, Rubens and the team after the last 2 dismal seasons that Honda had. even though im a Brit i still think Rubens will win tomorrow and hope he does; its probly gonna be his last season. then again, Jenson will hav a tougher time after this season once the other teams catch up on the rules.
  • pole position tomorrow and that I'm a happy woman as a result ?
  • Well let me check with my neighbors..................................
Nah they didn't know, but they do now! Although I would not be quite sure about my mental state if I told them that a woman on Y! answers is happy as a result, so they won't know.
    Sorry.
  • I'm a McLaren fan, but as a Brit I wish Jenson good luck! It's about time Jenson had a chance to show us how good he is when he has a good car.
  • A great result for the whole team. They have had a crap car for the last couple of years, and an even crapper winter ! Now they're having some good times. ;-)))usb wireless remote control

  • Why do you have a favorite driver?

    May be...

  • That's like saying it doesn't matter if I win or lose. I just like to gamble. Most people gamble to win and get ahead not to watch everyone take their money. Report Abuse
  • Because the fun of it is having a different driver than some of your friends so when your driver wins you can rub it in their face. You are right about picking favorite kids. Now that's wrong. But if your kid is playing baseball you are not going to pull for someone else's kids because he's on a team you like better. That would be wrong but it's okay in my book to have favorite drivers.

Now it may not be politically correct "online" to rub it in people's face here on Yahoo Answers because behind a keyboard people can't judge each other's true character but I guarantee anybody that you think you have differences with here because it hurts people's feelings ... I would be willing to bet they would be your best friend if you were watching the race togther in the same house cooking ribs and having a drink.

Rivalries are fun in person. People like to pick at each other and say "I'll get you next time". The only problem with doing it here on Yahoo Answers is the trolls have made it to where people can't get along. It's hard to trust anyone and too many people are looking at everyone else trying to find a reason to call them a troll or accuse them of other things.

There is nothing wrong with having favorite drivers. The day it becomes wrong is the day I need to stop watching NASCAR.
  • I always thought favoritism to people was wrong. Like... what if your parents picked a favorite child. I think that's why people become biased in their answers to the point of having hurt feelings.
  • Your whole idea about favoritism is golden. I mean, choose between my wife or two girls, pick me. As a parent, you're absolutely right. You can't pick a favorite (even though you might have one).

I don't have a problem picking a favorite driver because they're not my kids. On the other hand, I'm not out there hating on anyone.... That's just me.
  • You are right. I don't know...I picked Dale Sr. to watch and cheer for because I met him first. After that it just fell to his son. Though since I have been watching I usually cheer for many. lol
I saw Kyle when he won his first "Busch" race in 2004 and led most all of the laps...236 out of 250...so I kept my eye on him and just found myself looking for him on the track during every race. He's kind of my "adopted" kid. And all the other drivers are someone else's adopted kids. Some kids one just likes better than others.
Plus racing is the ultimate thrill for me but I also like to hear the interviews and read up on what all drivers do off the track.
  • You right on a more personal level, I think. Racing cars is different. It adds to the festivities. It gives you someone to cheer for. It's all in good fun. I don't like it when it comes to hurting peoples feelings. The folks and relatives we hang out with for NASCAR do it for fun. We have some pretty intense discussions but it's all in fun. And, that's what's important. If it got serious, I would be out of there in a hurry. (That's why I hate discussing politics - it's do or die and I don't like that.)
  • I think Im going to cry now. You hurt my feelings dang it! Im going to my room.**stomp**stomp**

It just gives me someone to pull for. Nascar drivers aren't my kids so I can have favorites. I try not to be biased in my opinions here but when I am its because I won a bet with someone(Steffy, dalejr4ever,Prez) and rub it in.
  • because there aint as many toyota's in it than fords and chevys... and kyle is the shiz.... and sexy =]
    and i like his sponsers
  • I'm an only child..One favorite works just fine for me.
Occasionally I have hurt feelings, occasionally I cause hurt feelings.
I try not to do either, but it happens.
  • I see what you mean, but I don't think it's wrong to have a favorite driver. I have one because he fascinates me with everything he does. Parents love all of their children. Most race fans aren't related to the drivers, so I don't think it matters if they are leaving other drivers out. I respect all of the drivers, but it's fun to keep an eye on that certain one that really gets my attention.

I admit I'm biased in some of my answers, but it's only because I'm loyal to my favorite driver. I don't expect him to win all of the races; I'm just trying to cheer him on.
  • We are wired to have a natural affinity for some people and not for others. Favoritism is not prejudice it is simply who likes whom. You may like someones looks, attitude, home town, behavior, or what have you. There will always be someone else who has a different favorite.96 intrepid fuel pressure regulator problem

Who is ur fav nascar driver?

  • well i think that the winner is....................THE MILLER LITE DODGE.
  • 82 & 83

  • Bobby labontie
  • Tony Stewart and Kyle Bucsh is my 2nd
  • 48 and 18
  • Jeff Gordon
  • Jeff Gordon
  • 18!!!

    gotta love that toyota =]
  • 18
  • Reed Sorenson :)
  • JEFF GORDON
  • 1. Kasey Kahne, #9 Budwieser Dodge
    2. Kyle Busch, #18 M&M's Toyota
    3. David Reutimann, #00 Aaron's Toyota
    4. Brian Vickers, #83 Red Bull Toyota
    5. A.J. Allmendinger, #44 Harrahs/Valvoline
  • Dale Earnhardt Jrjabra cradle
  • How many wins does the #18 need to be points leader?

    May be...

  • It's not just how many races you win, it's how you do in the races you don't win.
  • That will all depend on the pace that the 24 team keeps going at. I suspect that Jeff Gordon will score a top 5 this week and have a shot at the win themselves. If Kyle gets in the top 10 to top 15 range he would need a couple or few more wins to take the overall lead. That's just an educated guess looking at the upcoming tracks. Jeff is also very good at Phoenix but Kyle has the edge at Texas, we will have to see how it plays out.
    Jonah's FINE N 09!!!!
  • As long as he is consistent, stays in the top 5, it won't be long. Remember, it's still early in the season where anything can happen! (Remember when Matt Kenseth won the championship a few years back? He didn't win any race, he was just consistent week after week. As I recall, a lot of people were upset but Matt was just consistent week in and week out. Also, Matt was the last driver to win under the old system.)

So far, the 18 has won twice but didn't do well in the other races. It'll come.

A Frustrated Smoke Fan to the end.......
  • Just another point that consistency pays off more than winning. Jeff has finished in the top 10 4 out of 5 races, could have been all 5, Kyle has not done as well. If Jeff can continue what he is doing, and Kyle continues what he is doing, this season is going to be very interesting.
  • It has nothing to do with wins. Getting a win only gives the driver 10 or 15 extra points over second. It will all depend on where each driver finishes in each race.
  • You would think since he already has two wins he would be the points leader. Do you think that's right?
  • Just one more> he needs 85 more points to tie Jeff who has 794. Kyle 709. (Providing Jeff, Kurt and Clint don't do so well this race...not likely though as Jeff has a better chance at taking the win than Kyle does.)

Yeah I guess its fair enough...Jeff has finished better in all the races where Kyle was wrecked at Daytona
Kyle has an average finish of 12.8 where Jeff has a 5.4.

Even with two wins under his belt.
  • I dont know about the points, I just wanted to comment on your icon. I am a huge Superbird fan!!! I love that logo!! BEEP BEEP!!!
  • Uhhh...Kenseth has two wins as well. The points system is completely fair. Deal with it.guild wars review gamespot
  • Have you ever been more excited for the start of an F1 season?

    May be...

  • If no...say it.
    If yes name the year.

Poll: Which F1 personality would you most like to have dinner and a conversation with?

Please keep your answers reserved for people who are presently involved in F1 at least in some capacity.
  • That was in 1994, the first time I followed a full F1 season. Naturally I was way younger then and took a lot of things for granted.

The next one is hard, difficult to answer. I am not sure if it is acceptable, but I'd go for our own Rosbif. He has always made me feel that there is a lot more to know about F1.
  • I haven't! I started watching F1 in 1993 and bear in mind I was about 5 years old just watching the tv with my F1 fan father and brother. Senna became my hero and then when he left us it wasn't the same for a long time.

I think the closest I have been to being this excited was in 2007 because Alonso was going to drive for McLaren and Raikkonen for Ferrari, and it was exciting to think about Ferrari not having a number 1 driver. But compared to this it's nothing.

It looks like Williams might win again!!

I think I would like to have a conversation with Briatore, to ask him what's his secret to get the ladies, I wonder if it is the turquoise shades.
  • Oh yes i heard in 1991 a young german named Michael Schumacher, i never knew much about him until then and since then he has made my weekends very interesting, but now he has retired formula 1 is not so thrilling anymore, but i still follow/support Michael.I wouldn't mind having dinner with him, he would never bore me to tears has i am still interested in what he does.
  • Since any of the current drivers have been involved, no.

Since ever, yes. 1981-1991, for example! It's always different when you have a favourite driver to follow.

As to dinner, a strange choice: Bernie Ecclestone. Not to poison him or to strangle him, but to talk about the Brabham team, and particularly Piquet and Lauda. Asking him about Monaco 1958 would be interesting too.

    EDIT
Thanks Firefox! I'd probably have more to ask you about Soviet fighters than you would to ask me about F1 though.cibc visa phone
  • Who doesn't deserve a ride?

    May be...

  • well i think they all are good drivers or they would never have got this far in the first place ,but based on performance now that they have gotten this far i gotta say Casey Mears i like the guy and all but if you cant cut it with Hendrick or with RCR you aint never gonna cut it
  • JR # 88 guy is so bad he can't find his own pit without a GPS
  • I hate to say it but Casey Mears is probably doing the most poorly right now.I think he just needs to stay at a team longer. He has had a lot of different teams in the last couple of years.I really think they should move Reed out of the #43 and put A.J in the car.Reed hasn't really shown anything.Reed has always been a mid-pack driver.
  • Casey Mears team is not showing anything even competitive this year, and neither is Aric Almirola. Paul Menard, Regan Smith, and Travis Kvapil are awesome drivers and deserve shots. Look at Gilliland and the 71 team
  • Steve Wallace in the Nationwide Series. He's only there because his father is a team owner.
  • Scott Speed, every race he seems to prove that Red Bull made a mistake by getting rid of Allmendinger(In turn AJ's proving the same thing in the 44).
Get a kick out of the idiots saying Jr and Mark Martin, I mean hell they've only got 51 Cup , 70 Natrionwide and 7 truck wins combined.
Damn lumping Jr in with Mears and Menard, hater nation is pretty sad, Jr's got more wins(18) than those 2 have top-5's(13).
  • June Bugg,Paul Menard,Sam Hornish and Mark Martin dont deserve a ride they all suck and were given rides like june bugg and menard`s daddys came to the rescue hornish was a open wheeler so he must be good and mark cant win a championship after all these years.
  • paul menard only there cause his daddy bought him a ride he should sponser a good driver -----casey mears livin off the mears name
  • mark martin. No respect for him at all even with his age and experience. His time was up when he first jumped on Rustys band wagon and said he would retire. So...yeah...PLEASE retire and get out and let someone else come in. Not saying someone younger, just someone who doesn't complain about EVERYTHING. Get over it mark...your done. Your not going to win a championship anytime soon, nor the Daytona 500.
  • There are quite a few in my opinion. Robby Gordon had to start his own team because nobody would hire him. Paul Menard just has his daddys cash. David Stremme is terrible. So of them I have to go with Robby Gordon.
  • Steve Wallace, Casey Mears, Paul Menard
  • Robby Gordon, Michael Waltrip, Casey Mears, Sam Hornish, Dale Jr, Kyle Petty ( is he even driving anymore?), all the ones that pretty much suck all the time.
  • Paul Menard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Number one "offender":
    Casey Mears

Did anybody here scratch their head in disbelief when Hendrick dumped Kyle Busch and kept Casey Mears?? Oh yeah, and then the following year admitted their mistake by dumping Mears, too late.

    "Dishonorable mention";
    Cup--
Paul Menard (rich daddy, no talent)
    Reed Sorenson
Michael Waltrip (pisspoor driver since the 80's, come on!)
    Busch--
Brendan Gaughan (rich daddy, no talent)
Steve Wallace (Rustbucket's boy, no talent)

sorry, not hating on these people, just stating the facts.
  • i agree with delbert c
  • Joe Nemachex and Sterling marin time to retire
  • jimmie johnson
  • Casey Mears. He has been with Ganassi, HMS, and now RCR, and he hasn't done anything, except for that one win at LMS. I like the guy, but he hasn't shown much talent.
  • Which NASCAR drivers are least deserving of their rides and should be dumped based on performance?
  • Elliott Sadler
  • Joey Lagano. I mean came on. His best Finish is 33rd.
  • nascar24 is right. i mean, sure, since his rookie year in 2000, he IS the 5th winningest driver in NASCAR, but that's only because of his last name. and it's true, since joing HMS at the beginning of last season he HAS won more races than teammates jeff gordon and mark martin combined, but that's only because of who his father was.
  • Sprint Cup Series:

  • I don't have anything against these drivers, BTW:

Casey Mears. If you can't win with Hendrick and RCR, where CAN you win?
    Reed Sorenson.
Since Paul Menard is paying for his own ride, I can't say he's undeserving. He's not taking a ride from a more deserving driver, since he's paying his own way.

I can't believe people are saying Mark Martin doesn't deserve a ride. Have they even looked up his stats? The guy is STILL better than half the drivers out there, even if he is 50. Reeks of ageism to me.

  • Are you happy with the car make your favorite nascar driver drives?

    May be...

  • all cars are the same as built by any team, they are all subject to breakdown, some technicians are just better than others
  • Yep, Junior in a Chevy works for me.
  • Tony back in a chevy you bet i am happy as a rabbit eating a carrot!
  • eh. they seem to be all the same now amnyway so it doesn't matter to me I guess.
  • Yes, I have always liked Chevy. But it doesn't matter to me what car manufacturer Jeff drives; I would cheer for him in any car brand.
  • No on all counts. I love DODGE. But none of my drivers are driving one.

    AND I HATE CHEVY!!!
    Kyle Busch - Toyota
    Juan Pablo Montoya - Chevy
    Scott Speed - Toyota
    Travis Kvapil - Nothing?
  • My favorite car make is ford... and both my drivers drive fords, so I am very happy.
  • yup gordon in a chevy is a match made in heaven. if he went to ford or toyota it would take me a while to rlly like him again
  • I wish that Morgan Shepard would drive a Chevy that was made in canada.
  • Jrs in a chevy which is what i've grown up liking since its what my dad has always drove but i now own a dodge and love it, so im still a chevy fan and a new dodge fan so im definentley happy with jr in a chevy.
  • Im very happy Kurt drives a Dodge Charger. :)
  • That's part of the reason I like who I like. Matt Kenseth in Ford. The only thing that would be better is if Budweiser was his sponsor.
  • I would be a lot happier if he was winning regularly! Go Dale, please!
  • Toyota? Well it's getting better.
  • I wish Robby Gordon were back in a Dodge or a Chevy, but he seems to be doing well in a Toyota, so I will take that.
  • I really could care less what make Kenseth drives as long as he can win.
  • Yeah, it's all right. I'd rather see him back in a Ford or Dodge but at least it ain't no Chevy.
  • yes I am I like Ford
  • Love it, I like Dodge because there race car's are fast.
  • Yes I like Jeff in a Chevy because I own 3 Chevy's and a GMC .
  • I am a Ford girl.....But I am very happy to have Reed in a Dodge cause that means he is not part of The House of Roush
  • Hate it, I like Dodge but their race cars are slow. I'm a Chevy guy.
  • Yes Fire Storm I agree Jeff Burton does drive a chevy well and glad to see it.I would cheer for him even if he drove the pace car
  • I Very Much DO Like the Manufacture Team Red Bull Drivers Scott Speed and Brian Vickers are driving.

    Toyota. Moving Forward.

  • Yeah..car manufacturers don't make a difference to me.
Kyle could be driving a mini-cooper for all I care, it wouldn't matter.
  • No. Kasey should be driving a toyota, so he can win. RPM needs to make the switch.
  • Yes and keep him in that chevy

Are you looking forward to the new F1 season and who is going to be the champion this year?

    May be...

  • I think BrawnGp are looking good
  • Yes I'm looking forward to it!

    Driver's Championship: Alonso
    Constructor's Championship: Brawn GP

I think Brawn GP will start the season strongly but will lose pace as the season progresses. Alonso is the only driver from the teams that currently look strong to have a significant advantage over his team mate, giving him the edge in the championship race.
  • No!
  • Been looking forward to it since the end of Brazil 2008, the new rules could spice things up nicely and fingers crossed the new Abu Dhabi circuit is good.
I'm hoping for a new champ in my heart but my head says Kimi will have a good year.
  • Constructors Championship - Ferrari
    Player Championship - Kimi
  • I favor Kimi Raikkonen. People were writing him off after last season, but I don't agree. I just think he could not get to grips with the car, unlike Massa. However, Kimi has a natural "raw" speed, and knows how to "wring a cars neck". If the car is quality, which I gather by his comments that it is, then he will do the job. Having said that, I think with all the tech changes, it's going to be a very close season, perhaps the closest yet. So, get ready for some great racing!!!!!!
  • Yep =D Can't wait! I plan to actually make an effort to watch it this year. I'm gonna say Felipe Massa, little bit of a dark horse.
  • constructors not sure but drivers Kimi i hopepalm desktop import vcard

Does anyone know anything about the other "Burton brother"?

    May be...

  • The middle brother's name is Brian Burton, he's 3 years younger than Ward and 3 years older than Jeff. He works in construction. The boys father's name is John Burton. Jeff and Brian grew up together with their parents, but Ward was raised by his grandparents and didn't grow up with Jeff and Brian.

I can't find a picture of Brain. But I'll keep looking.

    Quotes from Jeff Burton:

Up to the age of 15, who or what do you feel made the greatest impact on your life?

Burton: Certainly my father, my brothers and my mother. I was the youngest of three brothers, and I got to watch them grow up. My middle brother, Brian, spent a tremendous amount of time with me when I was young, and obviously my mother and father did. But certainly everybody in my family created the biggest impact.

Hearing that Ferrari story and knowing Ward like we do I'm almost afraid to ask this one, but what's your fondest childhood memory?

Oh God, that's a hard question. You know, I guess I'm going to have to say that with Brian, who was my middle brother, that we were much closer in age than Ward and I were. And Brian just let me do everything with him. When I was 13, I was an appendage -- just stuck to his side, and he took me everywhere. I mean, he took me on dates, and if the date didn't want me to go -- then the date didn't go and I'd go. I look back on that with really a lot of appreciation because it would have been a whole lot easier for him, a lot of times, to just say, "Look Jeff, you just can't go." And he never did that. That always meant a lot to me, because when you're 16 and you've got a 13-year-old brother you tend to be on different ends of the spectrum. But he always took me. I was always there with him and that was pretty cool.
  • Ward Burton is the oldest, Jeff Burton is the youngest.
But there's another Burton brother who is the middle brother.
Does anybody know anything about him? His name? What he does for a living? Would anyone happen to know where to find a pic of the middle Burton brother?
  • His Name is John, but I haven't found out what he does yet.

  • Martinsville is so frustrating for me. Its my favorite track and I go to every single race there. BUT.... all my favorite drivers struggle there and most of my least favorites are great there. So I'm forced to answer with head rather than my heart. Someone random will take the pole.*reaches hand into jar full of names* Vickers! I'll take Jeff Gordon to win. He's more than due and runs great there everytime. I sure hope I'm wrong. Go 17!
  • Pole: Kasey Kahne
    Winner: Jeff Gordon
  • Ryan Newman wins the pole and Jeff Gordon gets the checkered flag.
  • I like Kevin Harvick for the pole. But I also think it will be an HMS car that wins it. Gordon most likely! He's as good as any active driver there and seems to be doing better this season.
    Peace!
  • I'm going to say Kurt Busch on the pole, gut feeling, gotta go with it!!!

And for the win, Ol' Jeffy Gordon!
  • Jeff Gordon for the pole and Jimmie Johnson for the win! Denny will be right in the mix as well and Juan Pablo Montoya is my darkhorse for the pole.
    Jonah's FINE N 09!!!!
  • Who wins the pole for Sundays race and who wins Sundays race???
  • Jimmie Johnson on the pole and Jeff Gordon wins !
  • Pole: Mark Martin again
Win: Jeff Gordon, this is his week!
  • I am going to say A. J. Almandinger he has been doing really great lately and frankly speaking I am tired of the same old people getting picked for everything.
  • I will put Jimmie on the pole and Burton to win it.

    >>It sure is a crap shoot huh Maggie, Martinsville is tough to call. But I think you will look Mah-velous sporting the #88 next week.....Goooo Junior!
  • Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr.

I fear my bet with Steffy this week. LOL
  • Jimmie Johnonson wins the pole,

Dale Jr. wins the Grandfather clock.
  • Mark Martin wins pole and Jr wins race.common resolutions
  • Do you think Kyle Busch needs an attitude adjustment?

    May be...

  • I thank old Jimmy Spencer could talk some Sense into the boy or is that knox some Sense into him
  • No...and he's never once disappointed me.

Oh..and Kurt may have opened the door for the brothers Busch, but I can all but gaurantee you Kyle would've made it without him.
And second..the Busch boys drove their dad's late models BEFORE the local track owner let him borrow his.
    So your points are moot.

"Their dad dominated the local track's Limited Late Model division"
    http://www.roanoke.com/sports/racing/wb/...

Fine..so it wasn't his "late model" car they drove..happy?
You said their dad never had a late model car, I said that they drove his late model car..we were both wrong.
It was still their dad's car they drove..sheesh..
Conversation over on this final note: I still love Kyle's attitude!!!
  • i think kyle is a very good driver but ya his attitude stinks i used to be a kyle busch fan but can no longer put up with the kid. i think he should be told to grow up or pick another sport. he is a discrace to nascar.
  • Yeah Kyle will be Kyle. YOu either Hate or love him. He is trying to act a little mature sometimes it just gets the best of him.
I just love lately how he bad mouths Junior without saying his name. He is something. I was getting to just tolerate him but he is slowly losing that again.
Someone made a comment above me saying what come around goes around. We will see how is does in the chase. It seems like he always falters. And this is everytime he is in the chase. I think it will be the same this year.
  • I totally agree with you, and I have said it myself in the past here on YA. I read your answer to another question about Kyle and I think the way he treated your son was terrible. Don't worry...what goes around comes around. He was crappy to ppl last season and what happened when the chase came around? He flopped like a fish out of water. Haha.
  • Man Kyles taking all the drama from my boy Tony. Sometimes I wish he was my favorite driver. Someone tell "Smoke" to go on a tantrum already. Man this sux. Could I be a part time Kyle fan? His attitude is awesome. I love it.
  • You said it in your question-he's a boy. needs to grow up and act like an adult. He doesn't walk on water that I've seen. What goes around comes around-and I don't mean NASCAR.
  • Hell yeah! That idiot needs one or he'll get one from me!!!
  • Oh so Jr. didn't do as well as you hoped. Big deal. Whenever Kyle comes out ahead...win or no...all you people come out of the woodwork posting these types of questions to lick your wounds. EVERYONE knows, just won't admit, Kyle is one of the best drivers out there and is the future of NASCAR. It will be Kyle and those like him that will be in Victory lane more times than not. Better get used to it. And I would say by the maturity of this question that you are 12 to 15.
Oh...there is a man here...who has never had a single good thing to say about Kyle but has told me that not only is Kyle a really nice guy...he got his autograph three times. I think you made up that story. I have heard more times that Kyle is one of the friendliest drivers and more approachable than someone else who runs and hides because he can't stand his rabid following.
  • this kid has been in 155 cup races and has 14 wins. His average finish is over 16 th place. He has never ever won a professional championship of any kind. Why is there so many people on his jock for nothing. Gordon in 1 year won 13 races out of 34 and didn't get this much notoriety. Give me a break. This kid could fall from the Pedestal all you band wagon jumpers have put him on at any time and then what are you going to say? "Well he could have, he should have" and a bunch more blabla bla. He has accomplished NOTHING as of today, 3/23/09
  • Well, I thought him flipping the bird to Jeff Gordon after the Charlotte race last year was uncalled for. But I don't think he needs to change his attitude. He had every right to be mad. He drove hard all day, and his pit crew cost him the race. And I think Kyle would have made it in NASCAR without Kurt.

"You think I'm a pretty good race car driver? Wait until you see my brother...he's the best driver in the family."
    - Kurt Busch
  • No he is good for sport! NASCAR loves a bad BOY!

I am tired of NASCAR muzzling all of these guys. If he is mad let him voice his concerns. If he is pissed about an incident during the race and doesn't want to talk to the media so he walks of.

Isn't this a ______ if you do _______ if you don't! On one hand we want them to be accessible but on theother hand we don't want to hear them curse or whatever.

As for fans not liking him, I hope he doesn't care. Fans are stupid (no offense!) they will root or not root for anybody! A guy that speaks his mind and wins races sounds like a public relations jackpot for a sport that thrives on overhyped "talent" (Jr.)
  • 1000 questions like this on a Monday can only mean one thing: Kyle Busch must have won again!!
  • The reason I ask is because of his little temper tantrum over the weekend. This is the 2nd time he's walked off. Do you think he needs better people skills? There is no denying the boy can drive. But I think he forgets where he came from, he wouldn't be where he is now if it wasn't for #1)his brother, and #2)the man at the local track in Las Vegas that would loan him his late model to drive. He needs to wake up and realize that he disappoints his fans when he acts like an immature brat. Anyone agree with me???
  • Seem like a lot of people are having a hard time excepting the fact that Kyle Busch is a winner regardless of his personality.
No, he needs no attitude adjustment. That attitude like it or not is a win at any cost attitude. I wish there were more drivers out there like that. The races would be more interesting. He gives 100% and expects the same from his crew. Nothing wrong with that. Right now he is the most exciting driver to watch on the track. Let him do his job! If he goes home after the race and plays doll babies, why would it matter?
    Peace!
  • YES he acts like an immature brat. That's funny
  • Trip X I couldn't agree with you more.. There are drivers all over the country that would give anything for the chance he's had, and would show their appreciation.. If I were his Crew Chief, he could change his own tires, and fuel his own car, for not doing his job, and driving back to the pits.. For a guy who won't take responsibility for things he does, and mistakes he makes, he sure does expect allot of others..
Plain English, he needs to stop acting like a twelve year old girl..
  • Yes I do. The kid can drive I'll give him that, but he thinks that Nascar and other drivers owe him something they don't.
Maybe he should go see Jimmy Spencer, as he did a number on Kurt a few years ago and maybe he can do the same for Kyle.
  • Winter Glory you are a little screwed up, too much Las Vegas..Kyle is the best driver in NASCAR at this time..since he left HMS has 10 CUP wins and18 other wins..Jr has 1...hope he keeps his attitude, he is in the race to win..if you can't stand the heat, get out of his way..Saturday night the pit crew lost that race, Kyle made them retrieve the car, sorta taught them a lesson..were brilliant Sunday..Think you people are confused on the spoiled brat..kid has nerves of steel and can back up his actions..he is a reincarnating of a great past champion..Jr..fans like trinket sales tho...so Jr is #1..
  • I think he needs a Track Bar Adjustment... he did seem to Struggle through the corners at Bristol
  • Yes, as I've said before. He gloats when he wins, whines when he doesn't. He's also a hippocrite-criticizing other drivers for doing something he's done himself. I sincerely hope he's not 'the future of NASCAR' as some people have stated. I mean, doesn't every race start with "GENTLEMEN start your engines"? Fortunately, there's some potentially great drivers getting some seasoning in the Nationwide Series; Brad Keseloski, Steve Wallace, Justin Algier to name a few.yahoo north carolina chats

  • Kyle Busch has matured?

    May be...

  • I think he has. I have gone from pure hatred of the guy to a healthy dislike to a genuine respect over the past year. I still pull against him but he has earned my respect. I saw him in victory lane congratulating at Fontana congratulating and celebrating with Kenseth which is a classy thing to do. I hope the guy ends up in F1 and if he does, he would then become my favorite driver.
  • He's out there to win, not worry about you whining about him, or how mature we think he is. Maybe you should grow up as well, and quit asking these questions like this, otherwise you are lowering yourself down to the level you put Kyle at.
  • He is a lot more mature than the morons who throw beer cans on the track when he wins. He even picked one up after yesterdays race and held it up as if saying "Darn it's empty". I love it!
  • ....Looks like both Busch brothers have matured some over the past year or so.
.....Kyle has been impresive with some of his interviews this year and it seems he is attempting to take the "lead" role at Gibbs.
  • i say Kyle Busch has matured much better since coming over to Gibbs racing. Kyle Busch still has his moments when things don't go right for him, but i say he's matured.
  • Yes, I think he has matured.
  • He is still a cocky idiot for what he did and always will be. He has no respect for the sport and shows it just about every week. Nascar should suspend him for a couple of races for that stunt. If he doesn't get his way he whines how has he matured when he still does the same stuff he always has.

He has matured from a small piece of garbage into one big pile of ****.
  • I don't want him to change..
I like him just the way he is.
  • He still has alot of work but I think he has matured well.
  • Up until Saturday after the nationwide race, I thought Kyle Busch had matured a lot. I mean there is no question that he is an awesome driver and hes gonna be a champion soon, you know so I expect more than that from him. Yes it was rediculous the way he acted and if I was Mr. Gibbs I would sit Kyle down and have a serious talk with him and tell him to quit with the Kindergarden crap and just be a man about it.
  • Mommy said not to feed the trolls, and I'm out of billy goats anyway...
  • Ok, anyone question that Kyle Busch has NOT matured at all and is an arrogant jerk after Saturdays race? What a childish, immature, cocky, stupid move to park his car in turn three after the race because he was mad. I hope Mr. Gibbs made him eat his vegetables at dinner before he got to play with his Hot Wheels. His behavior was innacusable and I hope that he gets fined for posing a danger to the other drivers, he won't but I can dream.

How much growing up does he still have to do and will he do it?
  • Well, you have to admit, he didn't get on camera and say negative things towards his crew. Venting frustration is healthy and necessary. Saying things intentionally to hurt somebody in front of millions of people on national television is not. He would have done it last year. I think we will see him mature even more over time.
  • and how much growing up do you need to do?

I happen to like K.B's attitude, thats what makes him competitive. he talked about that a little bit after he WON THE CUP RACE YESTERDAY.
  • this kid is a walking time bomb. Yes he is winning races no he has not hit the wall yet. Remember how great he was last year until it came to crunch time (the last 10 races) he totally lost control and that will happen to him every time because of his disrespect for the game and the other drivers. Just wait until the end of the season when he ends up in 10 place or worse in the chase.
  • I think he has some. He still has alot of maturing to do. But we all from time to time "blow our stack". I'm 47 years old and every so often I still become "unhinged". Pressure to preform at the top of your game week in and week out would do it to most all of us I would think.
  • I did not see Saturday's race but I think Kyle has grown up quite a bit. If he "parked" his car on the track as you say then it definitely would fall into the "juvenile" category.

As far as bestanswer goes; don't let him get you down. At 20 years of age he knows everything there is to know about the sport. He pointed out to me that Dale Jr would not even have a ride if it were not for his father. For that I will be eternally grateful!!

I checked with a buddy who filled me in on the Saturday situation. From what I was told, Kyle parked his car at the entrance of pit row after the race was over so that his crew would have to come and get it because of a mistake that they made. YES, this was very immature and hopefully Joe Gibbs will do something about it but I doubt it.
  • Well looks like you got a lot of answers that you were hoping for, to get people riled up. And you have now joined the rank of Kyle bashing troll. Thanks.

My answer is yes...Kyle...has matured in the 5 years that he has been driving.
  • I think he has matured. Sometime people take 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, but they are still gaining that extra step in the form of progress (maturity) but may have a slip up now and then. At least he is walking away from this situation that makes him mad, instead of saying something on national tv or too members of his team he may regret.gm fuel gage
  • Kyle busch fans answer?

    May be...

  • I wouldn't say Kyle was holding back at HMS, he was always good..he just hadn't shown his full potential..I always knew it was in him, though.

And every fan Kyle has, he's earned and he deserves, regardless of when he earned them..but here..this is my answer to "who's your favorite driver" that was asked at the end of the end of the 2007 season or shorty after it ended, if that helps.
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
  • I kept an eye on him since he won his first NASCAR race at Richmond 2004, leading 236 out of 250 in the formerly Busch Series. I knew he was someone to watch and I did. Though I wasn't a fan of Hendrick I still kept watch of this young gun and liked him. Though at the time I was a fan of Dale Jr. when Dale went with Hendrick and Kyle went with Gibbs I just followed Kyle. Tony was and still is my second favorite so I was happy to see Kyle go with Gibbs racing and have Tony as a teammate.
Kyle was quite young and had a lot of growing to do with Hendrick and I think the move to Gibbs helped that a great deal. I felt that anyone with the #5 car wasn't getting the best equipment but I don't know...he did seem to bloom once away from HMS.
So yeah I was a fan of the kid prior to all of his wins with Gibbs.
  • Kyle has been one of my favorite drivers ever since he joined Hendrick. I'm not a Gibbs fan at all, so I didn't start cheering for him last year. I noticed his talent right from the beginning. I don't know about being held back at Hendrick; he finished 5th in points back in 2007. But I do believe he is showing his true potential right now. However, Kyle was just starting to reach championship form in the #5 when he was released. I think Kyle always had it in him to contend for many wins before he joined Gibbs.
  • Winning will sell a lot of hats and t-shirts................................
  • I have been a Kyle fan sences he talked to Roush about racing .
  • to be honest i was absolutely not a kyle fan when he was with hendrick, but im not a hendrick fan (i hate all his drivers) but i think kurt ruined it for kyle having fans when he first came to nascar. But I am a gibbs racing fan so i supported kyle last year and even though tony is no longer with gibbs i still support denny and kyle. I think the reason kyle has been good at gibbs is the environment, kyle gets to be kyle and not some stuck up corporate clone like all of the hendrick teams. Plus it just takes the right combo of people, all of the 18 was still the same team jj yeley had, but its just the right driver/crew cheif combo that makes all the difference. Now im a complete kyle fan as well as my man tony stewart of course!!!
  • I started liking Kyle, about 3 or 4 yrs now. When he scored his first C.O.T win (2yrs ago) He was mouthing off, and I thought thats what this sport needs, a None southern bad-boy, (no offance to those of us from the south). He was fighting hard to finish races, but kept on the back burner by Mr. Hendrick.
When Kyle left the track, because he thought his car was out of it, I knew his days were numberd. Then, when I heard he was getting picked up my Coach Gibbs, I about lost it, since Denny Hemlin, was my other driver i was pulling for, Thats when I started pulling for Kyle, the 2007 season. I had a gut feelling he was going to do well, over at J.G.R. , But i ditn't know he was going to do that well.

Its a good question to ask, to help sort out the band wagoners, and his real fans.
  • I just started today being a Kyle Busch fan. I'm not sure if that makes me a bandwagon fan or not. Peer pressure I guess. Funny how he won the day I became a fan.
  • I have been a Rowdy fan since before he was ever known as Rowdy. I lived in Vegas back in 2002-2004 and that's actually when I really caught NASCAR fever--thanks to some friends of mine who were fans and who guided me from thinking "who wants to watch a bunch of cars going around in circles for hours" to understanding the breadth, the depth, and the nuances of the sport.

They suggested back in 2003 that I pick a favorite driver and follow him, beginning at the beginning of the season and particularly for my first live race--Vegas 2003. I picked the hometown boy Kurt Busch because I liked his talent, his attitude, his arrogance, etc... Kyle had not yet come back to racing as he didn't turn 18 until May that year so I didn't know much about him until I read Kurt's quote about his little brother being the best driver in the family. Kurt won me a fair amount of money at the sports books that year and the next, but there was also something missing...

I remain a Kurt fan till this day, but since I didn't get to see his start from back in the truck series days, I didn't feel quite the affinity for him overall as I did for Kyle. True, I didn't see him race for Roush back in the truck series when he was 16, but once he started racing for Hendrick (and later Ballew in the truck series), I was hooked. He was more brash, more arrogant, and seemed to possess more "fire in the belly" than Kurt from the get-go, and I loved every minute of it.

As for whether or not he was being held back at HMS, that's a tough call. He didn't win as many races back then, but he did finish 10th in the points in 2006 and fifth in the points in 2007. And he was always a threat and incredibly fun to watch...

Finally, saying that any cup driver can win lots of races in the other series may be true as the last few championships can attest. But the more important measure was how he did as he came up through those series. In particular, he was Rookie of the Year in the-then Busch Series in 2004--finishing second overall in the points--and Cup Rookie of the Year in 2005. And now that the differences between the cars is greater than ever before since the introduction of the COT, it is more difficult than ever to be able to win consistently in both series, and even less so in all three series. Sure, others can do the double, but no one does the triple like Kyle.

On a related note, I really find it interesting that NASCAR fans in general have their own pecking order in terms of "fanhood." I have written a couple of articles about it and can only figure that because they have been looked down upon by the rest of the sports world (and the country) for so long, they now feel the need to look down on someone else so they pick on others within the sport. And they do so by picking on "bandwagoners," when in reality, what business is it of anyone else's when I started liking somebody or why. That they are fans and member of NASCAR Nation should be enough, especially in times like these where fans are most needed to help keep the sport growing and keep sponsor dollars flowing...

ps. as for your additional details, if you'd like somebody to bash you i'm sure we could russle up quite a few people around here more than willing to oblige. but i can't do it, especially to a kurt fan...
  • Wow Winter that was my first nascar question! Wow have I matured!!

Anyway, Kyle is my second favorite. Anyone that knows me knows that. I have liked him since his days at Hendrick in the Nationwide series. If Carl Edwards didn't make it in nascar, then Kyle Busch would be my favorite driver.
  • honestly, how many kyle busch fans were actually kyle busch fans before he went to gibbs racing and started winning all those races?
do you think that he was being held back at hendrick and now that he is gone from there he is showing his true potential?
allmost any cup driver can go to the nationwide series and truck series and win alot of races if they raced enough.point..........carl edwards won the championship last year in the nationwide series.
now i know that i will prob catch alot of flack on this question, but i am just curious of the true kyle fans and the ones who just jumped on because he wins so much.
  • I've been a Kyle fan since the end of '07 (September, I think) when I really got back into NASCAR.

But there are a lot of fans out there who only like him now because he's winning a lot.

As far as him being held back at HMS, I'd rather not get into this too much but I believe there was some bias toward other drivers when he was there, especially from the few things Rick told him over the radio during a race where Gordon was running first, and Kyle second.

I think he made the right choice with signing with Gibbs. I mean, look where he is today.
  • I can't cheer on any driver who drives for Hendrick, but since Kyle went to Coach Gibbs operation I think he's the greatest. I'll be surprised if he doesn't win the cup this year.
  • I watched my first NASCAR race in July of '05. My friends told me to watch a few races and decide which driver I liked. It only took me about 30 minutes to pick out the kid in the #5 Tony the Tiger car. The announcers mentioned that he was 19, but really nothing else about him. I've always been good at picking winners at the horse race track because I can tell which horse has that fire in his belly to win. The desire in that kid behind the wheel of the #5 car was palpable, and I chose him to be my driver.
Clearly Kyle didn't have top dog status at HMS, but judging by what the #5 car has done since Kyle went to Gibbs, I'd say he made the best of the lesser quality equipment he was given to race in at HMS. Do they regret bringing in Jr and letting Kyle go? Probably not, in the end, it is all about money. Does Rick flinch everytime Kyle wins, I bet he does.
I'm just loving seeing that bow at the end of a race. I haven't been able to see as many races due to my work schedule, but the highlights yesterday put a big smile on my face!

GO KYLE!!! As always, I'm behind you 100%!!!!
  • I kept my eye on him for years. I am glad he left HMS and knew he would shine someday. I did not think it would be so soon.

    Smile with Kyle.
  • I liked him on Hendrick...not as much as I did when he went to JGR, though. Hendrick was always my favorite team when it was Gordon, Johnson, Vickers, and Busch. They got rid of Vickers first, and I still cheered him, and still do, he's one of my top 5 favorite drivers. Then they got rid of Kyle to make way for Jr, and I still liked Kyle. Kyle was not my favorite, but he was in my top 3 at the end of 2007, and when he went to JGR in the Toyota's I really picked up on him. I felt bad for him and what Rick did...keeping him out of the team meetings and all that...I'd be pretty mad. And then I remember him being the fastest car in the pre season testing before 2008 and I was really excited about what he could do in 08. Like I said before, I've liked Hendrick since I was about 10 years old, but Kyle was probably my 3rd favorite Hendrick driver, but when he raced in the 2007 Prelude to the dream race at Eldora and finished 2nd, I really started liking him then. I actually found myself cheering for him more in that race than I did Jeff Gordon, who was my favorite driver, and finished 3rd that race. It just impressed me how well he adapted to the dirt late models without ever being in one until that race. He was making all kinds of crazy moves, up high, down low, splitting the middle...basically the same moves he makes in NASCAR every week, just in a dirt late model lol. So, to answer the question he's been one of my top 4 or 5 drivers since probably June of 2007, and my favorite since early last year. I just like how he goes all out, and I can relate to his passion to win. A lot of people don't understand it but he's one of the few true racers out there that would race for no money if he had to (and does)

I would say I'd be a fan of Kyle's even if he never won again, but I don't have to worry about that. He has the passion and the abilities that he will win for years and years, and that's what stands out to me.
  • Yes, actually and i, like you im guesing, am a Kurt Busch fan and i started to like his brother because i have liked kurt since he came to nascar and was thrilled that there was another one. Now I couldn't be happier as my boys have gotten it done 3 weeks in a row!!!
  • I guess I really jumped on when he had the incident at richmond with dale jr... I had just started watching nascar a few weeks before with the b/f and that got me hooked... he showed no fear before during and after that incident. then I did some research and decided that was my driver...technically though this was before he started winning everywhere. I like watching him in the nationwide and cup races, but really the truck races.
  • I decided to like him when he and vickers were getting no love at hendrick. Then he and casey mears were not even competitive while jeff and jimmie won every race in sight and he was booted for dale jr. Then I rooted for him, and last year at gibbs was what i expected, win alot, but no championship. This is his year.
  • YES he was always in the shadows of johnson and gorden he needed to move on now he is the top guy at gibbs but he is one hell of a driver he makes it look easyman has no fear.
  • I would not consider myself a Kyle Busch fan but I do appreciate the way he can drive. He is an excellent driver and I will go so far as to say with the same car and the same crew chief he could beat Little E anyday.
I prefer trhe way Dale conducts himself as a person but Kyle is coming along.
  • I've liked him since he was in the 5 car.lg tm510 wireless phone
  • Which NASCAR driver would win a fight?

    May be...

  • They don't fight eachother, they race eachother. It's a more civilized way to settle a conflict. This is what racing is about. It's a more humane form of competition.
  • Maturity hasn't reached you yet, has it? Answer is they would all beat you.
  • Another informative question on NASCAR Y/A. I'll let the kiddies answer.

    Later.
  • inane question, but i had to chime in to mention we already know the answer to spencer vs. kurt busch. spencer already kicked busch's *** at michigan in august of 2003, remember?

  • all the races are getting boring since the COT..I winder how many of the new fans they are going to lose because of it?
  • I agree with you it was kinda boring, but then when one driver leads almost the entire race it tends to be that way, I was hoping Denny and Jimmie could give him a run for it. Has nothing to do with Dale Jr having a bad race, I didn't figure he would have a good race anyway since starting last with the transmission change this morning. I remember when Cale Yarborough lead all 500 laps at Bristol, but I think we have a few more wrecks and the ususal Bristol madness. Congrats to Rowdy and his fans, but I hope he apologized to his crew for his mouth yesterday,. But Dale Jr came all the way to 14th with again a car that he really had to fight with all day.. But yes, I have seen atleast 30 more races at Bristol with more action and excitement, we actually hit the remote several times for the basketball games. On to Martinsville, I have a feeling we could see the 24 in Victory lane, and Dale Jr with a top 10.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Bristol has been lousy for several years except the fans are afraid to admit and the media is too chickensh$t to talk about it. The track was ruined. The racing at Cali blew the doors off this race. I laugh everytime we get to this race and people are pumped up about nothing. They are living in 1999 still.
  • Congratulations to the Busch fans.. He really earned this one.. He turned the fastest lap of the race, on the last lap.. I agree with Super, the race was not boring.. Of course Bristol has changed for the worse according to most, I don't agree.. It is what it is, and the wrecks no longer include five innocent bystanders.. The old track had fewer cars on the lead lap, and fewer running at the end.. If crashes are exciting to you, this would have been a bad race, but I have rarely seen closer competition, other than Daytona, and Talladega.. At some point near the end of the race, every car on the lead lap was turning 16.8s.. Every single car on the lead lap.. Some folks think the COT is a bad thing, but that is great racing.. And NASCAR should be given credit for that..
  • HA! I thought it was me ! I fell asleep twice, turned on the March Madness games and I'm not even a big basketball fan. I am so sick and tired of listening to DW, McReynolds and Kristy Voda screeching over engines. In fact, each time she starts yapping, we mute the TV.
They made a big deal of having seven different leaders.......SEVEN ??? Bristol races used to have seven in the first 100 laps!
  • It was kind of a disappointing race. I was bored for parts but other parts were good.
  • Well thank NA$CAR for the boring race They came up with the COT and is truening the series into IROC curcuit. Put 43 idenitical cars on a track with only engine differences with Toyota having the money to put into engines at a greater rate than others and you have and will have many more boring races.
  • Just returning from the track... Being my first visit to Bristol and comparing it to Martinsville which I have been plenty. This was a boring race. Kyle's victory not so unusual these days had little to do with it at all. Nor Jr's lack of performance. Being a Jr fan I knew he was toast after 100 laps and his chances of being competative were somewhere between slim and none. Having a good scanner assured that.
It was just like that american idol thing. You may expect a singer to perform well but in the end they get the boot. Bristol was like that today. It should make Martinsville a more excititng race to watch...
  • Well even though my fella was on top most of the race...I too dozed off.....But ask yourself this question if it were Jr. dominating. You wouldn't.

    ICE you look MAH-VELOUS DAHLINK!!!!!!!
  • I thought it was a great race.....And Kyle deserved to win, he is a great racecar driver, maybe him winning all the time will motivate the other teams to step up their game.
  • Nascar is raceing again? oh that is right they fallow the leader did Kyle pass any one for the lead or did he just get the lead from the pits. This raceing with the car sucks
  • well... maybe Martinsville will cheer you up.
  • Hey! The race wasn't bad. I really tried to take a nap but couldn't! LOL

Boring? I don't think so. I remember Jeff Gordon's winning streak. Race after race after race Jeff would win.... Now, it's someone else's turn....

I am glad that Stewart Hass racing ended the race! Ryan finished in the top 10! Smoke came in 17th! Not bad for a "new" team. Anyway, Congrats to Gibbs Racing!
  • It was pretty boring. I've never been a huge Bristol fan anyway, but this was the worst race I can ever remember there. It was more boring than California was. That's saying quite a bit, although California was actually kind of interesting for once this year.
  • Races dominated by one driver are not as exciting as multiple lead changes, I agree. But what I really hate is the green/white/checker. It totally changes the end of the race. I would rather have seen them race it out in the lapped traffic.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Yep it was boring. The FOX announcers tried to build it up like the same bump-and-run action exists like it use to. Sorry. It's just not there any more. That track has been ruined. I was hoping when they were saying that a grove was starting to get worked in that it would mean 1 grove and more bump-and-runs. Nope. It didn't happen.
  • Yes I agree that this race wasn't so exiting as other bristo races although congrats to Kyle! The race would have been a lot more exiting if Jeff would have won though. :)
  • Hey everybody i hope your weekend was ok but is it just me or was this the most boring Bristol race i ever watched since i started watching nascar i mean i fell asleep watching it just one guy up front and just run away with the race and on top of it it was kyle busch
  • Im going to be honest with you, to ME there are no boring races. I love them all. Having that Trackpass from nascar dot com helps when there are alot of green flag racing I can atleast listen to different drivers and hear what they say. Some of them are have a great sense of humor and also hearing the crew chief and driver disscuss stratagy. Maybe Im just weird or something but I like all of the races.

Congrats to the #18 and to all his fans. The kid is good.
  • Oh, I wouldn't have thought you hated Kyle with this question.
It wasn't exactly an eventful race..I'll admit that.
I'm just happy with the final outcome.

Lookin' good, Ice man, lookin' good (lol)..
  • By repaving the track and introducing the new car, they pretty much took the personality away from Bristol, among other tracks. The racing has gotten better, but the excitement level has gone down. Talladega is another one they took the identity away from, as well.
  • I'm sure if Jr won you'd be saying that it was the most exciting race ever. But at least he got like 50,000 lucky dog awards that should get Jr nation pumped up!!!!
  • i think kyle busch is boring.
  • A little boring in the front of the field but there was some pretty good racing back in the pack.
  • Looks like Mr. King Kyle kicked smoked in the nation's face..sure hate to be a #1 driver being outdone by a driver that is 103 yrs old...but do thank him for an interesting race trying to stay on the lead lap...big suspense of the race was could Jeff Gordon make it to the front..was a great race..thanks NASCAR & Fox
  • Right on Brother! I've been watching this sport for 25 years, this was far one of the most boring Bristol "FINISHES" I've ever seen.

    Congrats to Kyle!
  • yeah, it got a little boring, but it was very satisfying!
  • I've seen better, but it wasn't boring. Congrats to Kyle Busch!!
  • yes it was borig and it did put me to sleep and didn't wake up until after the race was over..
we need the old Bristol back
  • Kyle bush won again he dominated
  • I thought this race wasnt competitive enough but I'm so happy that KYLE Busch won!! :)pixils to inches

Why do they have promos for Nascar on Fox while the race is going on and it is under green?

    May be...

  • It's in the contract they have with NASCAR..
It's stated that FOX has to promote NASCAR..
It doesn't say when.. So FOX is being cute, and killing two birds..
  • It's so that when there is an accident, you don't get to see it. They need to wait untill a caution flag comes out to run the commercials while they are behind the pace car.
  • It's all about $$...gotta keep the big whigs in the marketing dept. happy.
  • Seems like they should just be showing the race. You are already watching Fox. What is a better promo than showing the actual race under green? Why have a commercial to get you to watch the race when you are already watching it?
  • That's what pays for the free broadcast.
  • Try wake up people who are falling asleep during the racecar racing forum
  • THE KURT BUSCH "UNWIND LAP"?

    May be...

  • it's not original, many have done it, it's a tribute to the late great Allan Kulwicki,it was his signuture Polish victory lap, he died an a plane crash as the reigning Winston cup champ.
  • Call it the Cry Baby Lap
  • I like it. Atleast he has won something(points race) that he can call something for and he let his fans choose.
  • GO #88 DALE JR you and your driver are the biggest crybabies in NASCAR today.
    Losers Report Abuse
  • He-he-he..it's a good name for it.
Wouldn't mind seeing it a few more times this season.
  • I think it was kool, no matter what you call it. The drivers seem to be developing their own "signature thing" after a win; ie: Carl's flip, Kyle's bow, etc. Why not have an "unwind" lap.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • I like it! It's cute!
  • Dumb? That was different. Remember you have to win a race in order to express yourself. Great expression Kurt.
  • I like it too! Wish I thought of that when they were asking for suggestions.
  • It is interesting and original.
  • I like it!
  • Unwind lap has a nice ring to it. I thought it was pretty cool, something new rather than just doing the regular donuts.

Hopefully Jimmie Johnson will win today and follow the "Unwind Lap" tradition.
  • dumb (*)(*)

just because you CAN act like a dork doesn't mean you should.
  • So what do you think of the name? Kurt was being interviewed this a.m. on "NASCAR Racing" and that's what he and some friends have named his backward driving victory lap! I think it's kind of cool! What do you all think?

    GO SMOKE!!!!!!
  • it was cool and different
i wish many other wouls also originalforum natasha yi
  • Did Ned and Dale Jarrett ever race together?

    May be...

  • Sadly no, as was said Ned retired before Dale started cup racing. And BTW you should NOT rely on Wikipedia for anything, the site is rife with errors and the individual poster's personal biases.
  • Like Dale Sr. and Dale Jr????
I wasn't watching it if/when they did and I was just wondering.
  • No.
  • No. Ned was retired before Dale started racing?
  • No they have never raced together. Although they have always wanted to race together, and in my opinion it would make for an exciting race!
  • Nope, according to Wikipedia (because I couldn't find it on NASCAR.com), Ned retired in 1966 while Dale started racing in 1977.ny station syracuse train
  • Is it easy to come from the back of the pack in Bristol? (NASCAR)?

    May be...

  • no race is easy to come from the back little on win but yes it can be done like others said alot depends on pit stratagie
  • Jr. starting near the *** end of the lineup.,he should be lapped within 3..how this guy can be so embarrassed every week is beyond me..what is our excuse today? Eury, Green color car, HMS giving him bad equipment..but sure is good comedy relief..always good for a laugh
  • On any short track the drivers want good track position because if they are in the back, they are already a half a lap down by the time the green flag drops.
  • I would'ent say it's easy but it can be done!
  • No.
  • no not really if your 30-43 if you don't move up quick than you are in dangr of being lapped within the first few laps.
  • It seems easy for drivers like Kyle...but not so for others. If you are thinking Dale Jr.? I saw him, well we all saw him.. come from the back and win a race. I am not sure if it was a Bristol race...but he has won at Bristol.

GOOD LUCK TO YOUR DRIVERS TODAY!!!!!!
  • It can be done, usually by pit strategy, however it is not "easy" by any means.
  • Nothing is easy at Bristol!
  • I would say this can be difficult at any race. But for many drivers they have proved it can be done, such as Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and others. Just because they start in the back doesn't mean they won't win the race or finish in a top spot. Good Luck to your driver today!
