Who's your favorite start and park driver?

May be...

  • micheal waltrip because he needs to fix his car
  • please give a detailed description of why???????
  • Johnny Chapman because nobody knows who the **** he is.
  • Joe Nemechek has done very well in his career with the little that he's gotten. For that, I respect him. He, unlike many of the go or go homers, genuinely wants to FINISH a race. He's had some great runs, and I wish him the best in all future endeavors.
  • Joe Nemechek! At least he has won and I wish he had better equipment. This start and park bs sucks! Rather not see these guys race at all if all they are doing is qualify and quit the race shortly after the green flag is waved. Joe would be a much better choice for the 12 then David Stremme!
  • Probably Joe Nemechek because he never ruffles anyone's feathers (unless its Kevin Harvick) and hes a good driver he just doesnt have the equipment or the luckkotor swoop upgrade

How in gods name does Dave Blaney stay in NASCAR?

    May be...

  • LMAO when you find the answer let me know, he qualifies (gosh knows how) and then runs a few and then parks it and has a drink. I guess he gets paid ok but I guess in a recession you do what you have to do. But still....
  • I have a feeling he drives for one of the "Start & Park" teams. The team owner brings the car to the track, qualifies & then instructs Dave to spin 10-20 laps. Don't bust up the car & then take it to the garage for a "mechanical failure". Team collects $50-80k & they are on the trailer to the next venue.
  • It's not him, its his team.
  • He probably comes cheap.
  • Because he is bad *** like that
  • How is Gods name can u sit and watch cars drive in circles? If you're from the southern states, I understand.
  • They seriously can't find ANYONE better than him to drive? Have you seen his stats? He's been in 21 races this season. Of those 21, ONLY 3 TIMES has he finished BETTER than 40TH!!!!!!!!!!
    http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/sprint/dr…
The man has 20 DNF's in 21 races. Why even waste the resources sending him out there?
  • If you had ever watched one of those races, you would realise that he is on a start and park team. This means that he only runs a handful of laps, pulls off and goes laughing to the bank. He can qualify better than some other people. Otherwise, they would be out there instead of him. However, I don't understand the point of having these teams. I would be in favour of downsizing the field. Yes, we're used to 43 cars. However, if several of them are going to pull right off, why even let them start. If you cannot afford to run an entire race, you shouldn't be out there IMO. The field fillers are more likely to cause wrecks than the other drivers, anyways.
  • He stays in racing in NASCARs name
God is only a spectatorroadrunner outgoing mail
  • Who are your favorite Nascar Drivers in the NNCS series?

    May be...

  • I don't have a favorite. I have ranks of drivers I root for depending on whom they are racing with for the win.
    Level 1 Drivers include:
Dale Jr, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, David Rueitamann, Marcos Ambrose, Michael Waltrip, Clint Bowyer, and Jeff Burton
Level 2 Drivers are only rooted against if they are racing a Level 1 Driver: Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, Casey Mears, Kevin Harvick
Level 3: Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman. They are the bottom feeders of the list and anybody I haven't listed I don't have an opinion about.
  • I'm trying to decide...I like Kasey Kahne, Casey Mears, Dale Earnheardt, Dale Jr., Jimmie Jonson, and more...Who's your Favorite?
  • My absolute favorite driver is Dale Jr! But I really like Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson, and Carl Edwards.
  • Joey Logano is my favorite driver of all and Kyle Busch is second.

Joey is my favorite because he is less than a year older than I am and he a an all around great driver/guy.

Kyle is second because he is disliked by many, doesn't care what people think and he is a good driver.
  • nncs? its nscs, any way i like casey mears the best but if you look at my profile, i have a list of drivers
  • Dale jr, Kasey Kahne, There are a few others out there i like i mean i like watching Reed Sorenson, Casey Mears, Scott Speed, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers. So there are a lot to choose from
  • Kurt Busch. Ive been a fan ever since
  • Mr. Mark Martin is my favorite driver because all the drivers respect Mark, including Kyle Busch.
  • I'm with Mears, I'm confused. If you mean NSCS, my favorite drivers are:

    Matt Kenseth(My main favorite)
    David Ragan
    Carl Edwards
    Greg Biffle

P.S. If you start pulling for Dale Earnhardt, you won't see him win many races because he hasn't raced since the 2nd race of 2001.
  • My favorite is Kevin Harvick. But I also like Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, and Joey Logano.
  • Of course, Kasey Kahne. My next favourite is Kyle Busch. I like a lot of drivers, though. Everyone at JGR, Roush-Fenway (except David Ragan) and RCR (except Kevin Harvick).tohiba uk

Nascar Nation: Do You Vote for Unresolved Questions here?

    May be...

  • I vote once in a while when there aren't very many open questions that I feel like answering.
  • Sometimes... but I unknowingly vote for my own answers (that I've long forgotten), and if no one else votes... 10 points. :)

    It's all accidental.
  • No, I started to once you asked this question though :)
  • I do vote on unresolved questions, but in other categories other than the NASCAR section.

    Sorry.
  • you bet. especially the funny ones. ha ha I never send mine out to vote really. I kind of like choosing. I have never got voted in though come to think on that.
  • I do sometimes, when I'm extremely bored. Don't worry too much about the cleanliness in the NASCAR section. We have rat finks - oops, I meant trusted reporters to keep it all nice and clean. : )
  • yes i do but i go to other sections that i don't always answer in
  • I never vote. I do go back and see how many thumbs up and down I get though.
  • Sometimes, but not real often.
  • i vote sometimes
  • It's a point and it gives me a chance for ten, if I answered the question. I like picking the best answer though. It's like picking a Padawan. So many choices, but the best is always taken.
  • Yes I do especially when there is nothing going on in here and Im bored. It does keep it nice & tidy.
  • I have noticed we hardley ever have more than 2 pages of unreslved question. I always vote on those, it keeps our section nice and clean...
  • I try to make it over there when I remember. I figure somebody should get some points. Occasionally I vote in other sections like Television as well. It's fun being the tiebreaker vote too.
  • Not as a rule, but I do frequently. Nice that you do.laugardia
  • Will NASCAR allow me to enter my '77 super charged AMC Pacer in the next race at Daytona Beach?

    May be...

  • LOL. That would be a great view, my friend. If they don't let you in the race, park it in the infield & you'll still have your 360 degree view.
  • It may not go as fast as the other cars but with a 360 degree fishbowl view no one can sneak up on me.
  • You wont be allowed no where near the track, I think the other drivers may be jealous of such a ride....
  • absolutley not the cars have to fit the templates
  • lol

    fishbowl of not,
they'll be passing you so fast, you won't even see them
do you really think that body/suspension can go anywhere near 200-220 mph?
  • No. Because the next race at Daytons is a motorcycle race.
  • NASCAR hasn't raced on the beach since 1958.
  • Ahh... no.usb arcade
  • What kind of cool cars does your favorite nascar driver own and drive.?

    May be...

  • I don't know. I'm not that obsessed with NASCAR to find out every little thing about my driver. I know all I have to know.
  • when not running a race.

include a picture if you can.
  • Tony Stewart has a 1984 Cadillac Hearse that I love!:

He's not my #1 driver, but Kurt Busch has a 1964 VW Beetle that I think is really cute. It was his first car.
I can't seem to find just a picture of it, but he showed it off on an episode of CMT's Cribs. This is a video of it:

  • Have you heard these true stories about Kyle Busch?

    May be...

  • hahaha those I have not heard before...But I Like Kyle..
  • LOL, hadn't heard the last one.
  • Very funny bunch of jokes! Thanks.
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr was walking across campus when Kyle Busch rides up on a shiny new motorcycle.
"Where did you get such a great bike?", asked Jr.
Kyle replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike to the ground, took off all her clothes and said 'Take what you want.'"
Jr nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn't have fit."

Kyle Busch calls the police, and says, "They stole my dashboard, they stole my steering wheel, they stole my brake pedal, Hell, they even stole my gas pedal..."
Then, before the cops can ask where he is, he says, "Hey, never mind, I'm in the back seat."

Did you hear why Kyle Busch gave up his sponsorship from M&Ms?
He Said he just didnt like to deal with M&Ms, Sure they taste good but "they sure is hard to peel!"

Kyle Busch is out taking a stroll in the snow. He slips off a Icy bridge, hits his head, and falls into an icy river. Three kids see it happen. They jump in and save him. When he comes to, he says, "Boys, you saved a NASCAR driver. You each deserve a reward. You name it, and You Got It!" The first kid says, "I'd like to go to Disneyland." Kyle Busch says, "I'll send you and your whole family for a week at Disneyland." The second boy says, "I'd like a 4 wheeler so I can Go out mudbogging out behind my house" Kyle Busch says, "I'll get you the best Four Wheeler With all the safety Features and I'll have someone teach you how to drive it safely." The third kid says, "I'd like a electric twin-turbo wheelchair with a HiFi stereo and Cruise Control." #18 says, "I'll get you the Best ... Wait a second, you're not handicapped, You don't need a Wheelchair." The kid says, "I will be when my father finds out who I saved from drowning."

  • Do you think Kyle Busch still has the "Checkers or Wreckers" mentality?

    May be...

  • kyle will be done with the checkers or wreckers when he is sitting in first place heading into homestead and wrecks from a stupid decision and loses the championship. he has come a long ways but he is still a little hot headed to compete for the cup. i like kyle, hes got alot of talent and the smarts to be great. hes just really young and still learning. look at alot of drivers who were the checkers and wreckers and became the greats. ned jarrett, junior johnson, david pearson, dale earnhardt, darrell waltrip, carl edwards, tony stewart, the list goes on. it will come with age.
  • He never really had it to begin with.
    Contrary to popular opinion.
  • Yes, and I think that's who he is. I think it makes him and individual and I like him for that reason.. It wouldn't bother me a bit if he never "grows up" as haters like to say.
  • yes...hes going to take out anyone in his way..
  • No way Jose! But if he did I'd smile. :)
  • Kyle was real good with mark last week. I was surprised. gave him plenty of room. I think he will be concerned about making it in the chase and will actually be careful which could get him in trouble.
  • he still needs to grow up. he got a lesson in humbleness this week when mark martin raced him fairly and had opportunities to wreck him but didn't.

    What makes nascar so interesting?

    May be...

  • Kyle Busch makes things interesting, Kyle is Kool

I can already see the thumbs down.
  • If you want to know what makes NASCAR so interesting, you have to understand what it takes to create the "object of play" (the race car).
Now if you compare that to the "object of play" in a ball game, you would wonder why people get excited over a "ball".
  • Many people like it.

The racing is competitive and the drivers are still fairly accessible unlike most sports starts.
  • It is a family sport. Everyone gathers together on Sundays, cooks on the grill and enjoys an exciting NASCAR race. With all the fuel mileage, wrecks, lead changes, pit strategy, it's the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Once the Chase for the Cup starts, it only heats up even more until a Champion of the most popular sport in the country has been crowned.
  • Something that I think is interesting is when somebody comes in to the pits and when they come out they gain like 8 spots from how quick their pitstop was. Also, it is interesting when the 2 first and second placemen cars come around the last corner and they are right next to each other and one of them pulls ahead of the other to come in 1st.

Now that is what is interesting about NASCAR!!!
  • many people find it boring? More find it fun and exciting. Don't bother "trying" to become a fan. It isn't for you. Go play hopscotch instead. Don't hurt yourself.
  • meh, i dont find it all that interesting. I would reconsider another sport. i tried to like it but its not my taste. i would look into rubgy if i were you.
  • All I can suggest is to go to a race, even if it is a local dirt track and watch it live in person. A race on television can be a little boring at times. Live you can just about see everything that goes on and see the competition that goes on during a race. And if you still find it boring, then you more than likely always will.
  • Good for you. Nascar is a fast paced, technical sport. The cars are driving at such fast speeds that it's impossible to not be fascinated by it. Then there's the driving. Each driver runs hard and beats and bangs for 500 laps. It can get boring at times, but you always have to keep a chin up. Then, grab a nice cold Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade (I don't know how I lived without that stuff for so long), some popcorn, twizzlers, and snuggle down on the couch with your pet Gungan and watch you some NASCAR!!
  • Nascar is a family sport. It is the only sport that many of the drivers bring their family. There is a lot of history there.

Many families sit in front of the T.V. and cheer on the favorite driver.
  • all the drama
it's almost like high school drama ;]
the races are awsome but at the end someone always ends up hating each other
  • NASCAR Stock Car racing allows for more competitive racing. Bumping each other, trading paint, rubbin' tires. They can do all of this without wrecking or causing too much damage to each other. You won't get that from most other forms of racing, specifically open wheel racing of any sort (Formula One, Indy, etc.).
  • i am trying to become a fan, but i need help in finding the fun part. lets face it, many people find it boring, but im trying to get into it.arkenoids

  • Does the Canadian GP have a chance of returning for 2010?

    May be...

  • The issues were Bernie wanted an average of $22 million over the next five years from the track for the race. The tracks in F1 do not get any of the TV money, so that $22 million had to come from gate receipts and sponsorship. The track management was not able to commit to that amount, so the race was dropped.

Rumors are flying that the race will return for 2010. That means either a wonderful corporation with money to burn came out of the woodwork, Bernie caved, or the race won't be back.
  • Yeah, thankfully Bernie has seen the light, hes already claimed hed like to see the Canadian GP back next year. It should never have been axed, stoopid decision, hope its back soon.
  • They couldnt find a sponser to help funding. The people in the city didnt want to pay the taxes. According to SPEEDTV the race has been added for next year. I havent looked anywhere to back it up yet.

Bernie is getting excited about a USGP for next year too. Monza last year he said they have it narrowed to 3 venues

I dont understand. More F1 money comes from the US and Northamerica than any other region, and somehow theres no race here and only one in the western hemisphere
  • The race got axed in 2009, citing "economic issues." What issues. I want the Canadian GP back, pronto! Is there anyway to have the Canadian GP back for 2010?
  • Weel, they didn't have the funds Bernie asked for. The amount needed to stage a race was not in their reach. Plus, I think when the track surface broke up in 2008 just gave Bernie more reason to axe it.

If they can get race funding and there's a spot on the calendar for them, i'd say it's possible. (There are new possible venues for F1 which include India and South Korea...) It's one of those venues that have provided exciting races over the years. And F1 needs to have a race in the Americas. Having Canada back would be good for F1fromtier airline
  • Did anyone hear our nations president say NASCAR was good for the American automotive industry?

    May be...

  • He put in a whole bunch of good words for NASCAR, and the American automotive industries relation with NASCAR.
  • Obama is all about the Auto companys. Look at CARS, Just another way to get us to buy more expensive cars. Nothing in it for the unemployed worker. Just more cash for those who make way to expensive cars. Nascar has nothing to do with what happens to any american car company or foriegn car company. how many millions are out of work like me and have unenployment finished and still cant find work? That what he should be talking about. Not how Nascar makes them looks.
    Just mt P....d off opinion.
  • His government owns 2 of the 4 makes of cars. Of course he would say it was good for the auto industry. He is probably right about this one. I wonder who actually wrote that statement and put it on Obama's teleprompter because you can rest assured he didn't think this up himself.
  • He really needed to do more research. He was mistaken when he said that NASCAR was started by moonshiners racing at Daytona beach during prohibition. I hate it when politicians make statements about things they know nothing about.
  • I didn't but its about time someone puts out a good word for the American auto industry and NASCAR.

I get tired of hearing about people who have probably never even been in an American car claim its crap because its American. Guess what people the parts that make a GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, BMW and everything else are all made by the same suppliers.

Sometimes it seems like the midwest and NASCAR country are the only ones that support the American auto industry.
  • It's nice to know that President Obama has good things to say about NASCAR. Good for him! Great for NASCAR!

    Stewart Haas Racing!
  • I sure did. I watched the whole thing on ESPN2. It should be a good boost for the US automakers & Nascar. I was glad to see it.
  • Well that was mighty good of him. I wonder why he said that? Hmmm.
NASCAR will sink or swim regardless of what he says.
I am so glad that Kyle had "other commitments".
  • Good
  • he was just looking for brownie points with the American public.

  • Are Wingless Sprint Cars less expensive to run than Winged Sprints?

    May be...

  • On the west coast we have Spec-Sprints that only allow 2 barrel carbs and 4 barrel intake. We also have Wingless Pavement/Asphalt Sprints (360 2 barrel).
  • Yes, wingless sprint cars cost less to run than racing with a wing. The two largest cost factors in operating any race car are tire and engine costs. At racing speeds, the 25 sq. ft. wing area on a sprint car generates well in excess of 700 lbs. of down force. The down force creates exponentially more load on the engine, increasing the stress on the crank shaft, bottom end bearings, as well as the connecting rods. Also, because of the increased grip, the engine operates in a higher rpm range, on average. Tire costs are also increased due to the loads generated by the wing.

I like both winged and non-wing sprint car action; but facts are facts.
  • not really, just the cost of the wing mostlyhundred spokes
  • Is anyone else mad that NASCAR helped Kyle Busch win with all of those pace laps?

    May be...

  • You just now realizing that? It's been going on. They let him (Toyota) drive cars with engines that had an unfair advantage over the rest of the field. They also allowed Toyota to run smaller openings in the front of the cars which was unfair. The whole idea of the COT was to even the playing field and then NASCAR allows Toyota (Kyle's car) to have an aerodynamic advantage.

Yea it seemed like the cautions kept Kyle up front. I'm with you dude.
  • Kyle earned that win. Go take your conspiracy theories somewhere else.
  • ROFL *sniff*
Yes I am so with you...they call all of those cautions and make those cars wreck only for Kyle to get up front and WIN. Has nothing to do with an "ok" car and an awesome driver. I think they were probably just trying to get their ear digging koozie salesman up front and well...it didn't work...or doesn't work...not in years.
  • I Am.
  • I don't think NASCAR helped anybody win. NASCAR doesn't need the problems that would go along with a scandal like that. Besides, there are plenty other things they could do to improve ratings. Let's try to get through the rest of the season without any more conspiracies.

And now people are bringing Junior into this? Didn't see his name anywhere in the question.
  • Yeah I thought that for years.
  • I've never been a Kyle Shrub fan-I'll say this-he won last night because he and his car were the best. He and Martin drove their butts off, hard, never ran into each other. That's driver skill. Both were driving into the corners further than they had the entire race. I kept expecting one of them to lose it-they didn't.
Bristol is the type of track any junk on the apron can cause a major accident-even though it looks like it's not valid for a caution.

I agreed on the red flag.
  • It only happens to Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, or Kyle Busch. That makes me mad.
  • there was 6 to go when they red flagged the race.they red flagged it because they didn't want a green white checkered.if anyone helped him win it was martin because he wasn't going to win unless he raced him dirty and wrecked him.martin doesn't wreck people for the win like Big E used to do and it has cost him some wins like Daytona when Harvick beat him to the line.
  • Seems to me that nascar does that a lot.Sometimes they try to help by having a caution whenever they want one.I think they should have took some points from him last week when he showed his ***, but I guess nascar have their reasons. After all that's why they call it the Kyle Busch Show.
  • No, do you really think they try and make everything that complicated
  • NASCAR is also responsible for the death of Martin Luther King and Kennedy and filming the moon landing in Charlotte NC. NASCAR didn't even start in the US.

Sorry, I have to go take my antipsychotic drugs and put more sugar in my bowl of Captain Crunch.
  • I was more mad that somebody sabotaged Jimmie's tire so it wouldn't go on his car straight, and the shooter in the grassy knole that missed and took out Tony's radio instead of Kyle's engine.

Please....he won the race fair and square. He raced smart, and clean. NASCAR threw a red flag so we had some laps left to watch the boys race. If they hadn't, we would have had a green white checkered.
  • There was no 30 lap caution...gimme a break.

    I love conspiracy theories.
    They entertain me.
  • your sad......
  • In the last 70 laps or so it seemed like a minor caution flag was 30 laps. Plus, when Michael Waltrip crashes, they should have started with 6 to go, not 4. Was NASCAR trying to help Kyle Busch to get the most hated driver in the chase for the ratings of having him?
  • If there is anyone NASCAR would not help it's Kyle Busch.
  • Not at all because no one really cares about NASCAR.
  • That is very possible, since Nascar is rigged.
  • i'm totally with you i'm mad because he always has a fast car and the other drivers help him win.
  • Live with it Jr. lovers, the King won..cry and whine if it makes you feel better...Maggie you are brilliant, love your style...
  • yeah im MAD!brodit cradle
  • Who will win Bristol?

    May be...

  • Kurt Busch
  • Jeff Gordon no doubt
  • Mark Martin
  • i say kyle bush then mark martin. and most likely michael waltrip will wreck
  • Either Mark Martin or Jeff Gordon, Mark has a good car and Jeff has been flying through the field. I doubt Kyle Busch will even make it to the end...
  • I'm hoping that it's either Mark Martin or Marcos Ambrose.
  • Bill H is my long lost twin brother! Oh and if I would have seen this question b4 the race ended I would have said Kyle Busch. Go Rowdy Go!!!
  • I think Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin are the ones who will have a shot at victory tonight. Kurt Busch is looking good too, but it will be a battle between the Hendrick cars for the win IMO.
  • They usually keep the script private. That way people will watch the race. If we knew in advance there would be no reason to watch the race.
  • Montoya....Just a feeling
  • Kyle Busch. MM second

    NASCAR Nation, do you think...?

    May be...

  • No you don't; you are a good girl and I think the Nascar lucky dog is just hanging around because of Aaron's. Now they are just waving around.
  • that I have a dirty mind? Every time I hear the announcers say "the wave around rule", the phrase "reach around" springs to my mind. lol I wish it didn't, but it does.
Since they now have the wave around thing, isn't the lucky dog rule unnecessary? Is NASCAR just keeping it because of the Aaron's Lucky Dog sponsorship?
  • Yes and just like all of us do. hehe :)

    LOL @ Storm!
  • Not as dirty as mine (it involves a certain driver...that's all I'll say here!) ;D
  • Have you ever been in the grandstand at Daytona three AM during the 24 hour race, with a friend?? he he
    Racing is sexy..
  • Everytime they say Clint Bowyer with their Southern accents it sounds like Clit Bowyer so I'm dirty too. :P

When you do a reach around, I mean wave around, you can't pit so the lucky dog means you can pit.
  • LOL @ Jay. He's right.
  • A dirty mind? When a sport constantly mentions who "sits on the pole", "jacking wedge into the rear end", and "taking a rubber out of the right rear", how can you not have a dirty mind? I listen to races on the radio a bunch and those radio announcers are pretty dirty without even trying.
  • Wave around rule always makes me hopeful that the crowd will start a wave.

Never happens, but I'm still optimistic that someday it might.
I plan on trying to start a wave at the next race I attend :)
    You...dirty mind?? Surely not.
  • You must be a big girl because most women you CAN just reach around instead of having someone to wave them around. Seriously. No the lucky dog rule is for the first person down a lap. It's a good thing. I doubt it's for Aaron's.

  • NASCAR drivers get to choose their own introduction song...like Joey Logano will walk across the stage to "East Bound and Down"by Jerry Reed.. Reed Sorenson will walk across to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" Clint Bowyer to Elvis Presley's "CC Rider" Kyle Busch to Kanye West's "Amazing" (great choice I might add)
Scott Speed to Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow"

You can read the whole story here: http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/opinion/…

Denny Hamlin - "Faint" by Linkin Park
Kurt Busch - "Back in the Saddle" by Aerosmith

  • How can I watch NASCAR race live for free online?

    May be...

  • Buy a really expensive water resistant computer. Get yourself a diving suit. Take the computer out about a mile in the ocean (today I'd head toward the Bahamas if it were me) and then dive down as far as is safe with the computer. Race should come in pretty good if you get deep enough. Oh, be sure your air tanks have enough air for three hours or so. Race usually lasts four.
  • Get satellite tv software on your computer, with it you can watch NASCAR race and many tv channels live for free on your PC.Here you can get it.
    http://mochler.us/
  • thanks in advance.
  • The simple answer is that you can't. On occasion, ESPN/ABC will stream the broadcast feed online. I remember watching one night race like that last year. But, now it seems that they just do race chatter online, which is similar to the live leaderboard online at NASCAR.com. You get to see the positions at the start finish line each lap, but there is usually a delay and sometimes technical problems make the stats incorrect.

NASCAR.com also has a lap by lap page, which updates each lap telling you something that happened. This doesn't follow every driver, but can fill you in on the big stuff going on.

The reason you can't find it online (usually you can't even find the live radio broadcast online) is because NASCAR.com's Trackpass is a subscription (read: paid) service that features the race radio broadcast and allows you to listen to drivers' scanners.

If NASCAR allowed the race to be played live online, free, then it would make no money on the Trackpass service.devynals

Jimmie Johnson has been racing since 2002?

    May be...

  • I think the same way. Come on, you see the name every week, you SHOULD know how to spell it!

I'm just one of those people who can't help but notice that and get irked.
  • yet why do people still spell his name wrong,The guy has won 43 races shouldn't they know by now its ''Jimmie'' not ''Jimmy''.I even know people that say he is their favorite but yet they can't even spell his name right.
  • does it really mater
  • unless you go by the spelling on the truck he raced, Jim...
  • It might have something to do with the text messaging thing. People don't seem to care much about correct spelling anymore.
  • There....I fixed it. Sorry for taking the shortcut this morning....I didn't realize it was a stressful issue.

...my latino friend calls him Yimmie Yonson...

    Go Yimmie!
  • WHO CARES!!!!!!
  • Are you asking a question or just bitching?
  • They must not pay attention..A Jimmie Fan should know, my son is 11 and has known how to spell it for years, Jimmie is his Favorite Driver..It all started with Patrick Star on his Car for him.
  • Most of the time it's because the person that spells a drivers name wrong has no idea what they are talking about and don't follow Nascar. I understand everyone is going to spell something wrong once and a while but not everytime. One thing I really love is when someone hates a certain driver so bad but they can't even spell their name right. They say I hate Jeff Gordan or I hate Jimmy Johnson and I just have to laugh.
  • i know how you feel
  • whos Jimmie Johnson?
  • I'm sure as long as the bank keeps cashing those paychecks, Jimmie won't care how they spell his name. Some people just suck at spelling.
  • I hate that too.

Jimmy Johnson was a 2-time Super Bowl winning head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

Jimmie Johnson is the 3-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup champion.

  • Will the weather be a factor in saturday nights nascar sprint cup race?

    May be...

  • Pink Chickens says there is a 20% chance of rain, and that means there is also an 80% chance of clear skies! I like that statistic!
  • The weather should be great, and feel nice too. I think there's a cold front coming through tonight and that will move the rain out by tomorrow, and it's gonna be in the 50's for lows at Bristol Saturday night with low humidity. Better than sweating!
  • Ive just read that there is a 20% chance of rain Saturday. The way rain seems to follow the Sprint Cup series around I would say that it is going to rain. But the good thing about Bristol is that its concrete & short. It doesnt take no time to dry.

  • 20% chance of rain. Partly cloudy. I'm going to be optimistic and say they're good for the green!

  • Are race car drivers athletes?

    May be...

  • I was watching Kimmel a couple of days ago and Danica Patrick referred to herself as an athlete. I thought, "Is this ***** crazy?!" I actually really tried to understand how car racing is a sport, and how the drivers are REAL athletes, but I can't come up with how or why. Aren't athletes people who play a sport and have some sort of physical training? What do you think?
  • Yes
  • yes, because of the endurace they need to drive in hot cars for 4 and 5 hours at a time.
  • some say yes some say no buy i say yes
  • no they are not... NASCAR is the only sport I can think of that requires little to no physical ability..... even those who compete in the Red Bull Air Race are much higher on the list of athletes than racecar drivers.... I'd like to see a racecar driver pull 12 sustained g's with no g suit for 4-5 seconds at a time, multiple times within a 2 minute race... that takes skill and endurance.... racing in a circle does not...
  • Yes they are.

Have you ever tried it? It sure is more exhausting than most other forms of sport.....

Pro Football, they actually are active for about 18 minutes per game. Average game length 3 hours, not too athletic.

Baseball, stand around and catch balls, not too athletic.

Hockey, skate around and chase a rubber puck, athletic. At least they are moving the whole time.

    Soccer, athletic. 'nuff said.

Tennis, iffy at best. Hit a ball back and forth over a net and hope the other guy misses.

Golf, hit a ball and walk after it. (huh???)

    Poker, I don't care if it's on ESPN, it's not a sport.

And if you know what the answers are going to be, and it will get your panties in a knot, why ask????
  • Every now and then they have various challenge contests where athletes from different sports compete in physical challenges... you may have seen such things... and if you have seen many you might have been suprised by how often those "non-ahtlete" race car drivers come away as the winners. But let's back up for just a moment and look at this:

Athlete - noun: a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill

So, is a race car driver trained or gifted in some kind of contest... say a contest like a car race? Yes. Being successful as a racer requires gifted levels of perception and balance, and extensive training to develop the skills (driving one the street has almost nothing in common with driving on the track).

Does being a race car driver require agility, stamina, and/or strength? Consider the following:

Driving an F1 car or a sports prototype exerts great pressue on the body - to simulate the strength requirement connect a 100# weight to your head and hang your head sideways and hold it there for 10-15 seconds (and repeatedly do this every 20-30 seconds for 1-2 hours).

Due to limits on braking assistence, some classes of cars require drivers to be able to exert 300-400 pounds of pressure on the brake pedal... and pushing exaclty the right amount (too little and you won't stop, too much and you'll unbalance the car or lock up the brakes if there is no ABS). This must be repeated every 10-20 seconds for a few hours.

Consider that many drivers lose 10 or more pounds or water weight while driving due to the conditions. And so on and so on.

So yes, drivers are athletes, and the best drivers often measure up quite well to other elite athletes. If you ever need to experience this first hand, take a try at go-karting and see if you can last more than 10-15 minutes... and then consider that an in-shape driver could go at that all day (and maintain a very fast and consistent pace). People that don't race or have not been around racing often have little concept of just how physical it can be (even though the mental requirements are often much greater).
  • it's an "endurance" sport, which actually makes it harder
Most sports the guys get to take a break
  • All of the good ones are in tip top shape. David Pearson once said he invited anyone who thought drivers weren't athletes to drive 500 laps around Bristol on a hot August night with 42 other drivers. When you get out of the car, then say drivers are not athletes. You can't because they are.
  • if people consider Golfers athletes, I would say Nascar drivers are definitely athletes. Golfers never even work up a sweat, unless it is hot outside.
  • Obviously you are not familiar with NASCAR. if you took the time to look at the drivers & understand what really goes on during the races you would say yes. Mark Martin is 50 yrs old & is in amazing shape. he gets up at 5:00am daily & works out for at least an hour a day. Carl Edwards has been on the cover of FITNESS magazine about 4 times now.
There is much more to NASCAR than just driving a car. there is the heat factor, the weather, the possibilities of wrecks at any time.... so much more.
If you were to get into a car, keep the windows rolled up, turn on the heat full blast & drive 500 miles NON STOP then you might get a little taste of what a NASCAR driver goes thru during a race.
These guys are definitely athletes and most of them have personal trainers to help keep them in shape. They take I.V's on race days just to keep their fluid levels up because they sweat off 4 to 5 pounds during a race!!
Just because they are not playing a typical stick and ball sport like football or baseball does not mean they are not athletes. They have my respect because they they don't need to do "performance enhancing" drugs like so many baseball players have been doing lately. They also have their family's with them & live in motor homes from february till November with very few days off so I say YES, they are definitely athletes.
  • I think anyone who can control a 3400 pound car at speed up to 200+ mph while sitting inside a 200 degree oven for up to 5 hours all the while risking their lives deserves a little credit here. These guys have training programs that rival any olympian and lose up to 10 pounds during a race. Also the mental stress of running at 200 with cars only inches from your door can take a lot out of any driver. They may not be out there running and jumping or hitting a ball, but when it comes right down to it the physical demands put on them during a race would qualify them as athelets.eudoraweb
  • Who here thinks that Nascar made a big mistake by going to the COT ?

    May be...

  • I personally think it was a stupid move .We don't never see alot of wrecks like we use to .Lets use Bristol for an example,I remember when they were like 15-20 wrecks at that track .And now its not even 15 if I'm not mistaking.Plus every race is the same ..Follow the leader ! Its ******* boring to me .They never race like they use to back in the old days when they would wreck each other and get out of there cars and start fighting ,oh yeahhhhhh those were the days ....The COT cars suck big time.
  • saving drivers form serious injuries & death with the saftey of the cot dos not seem like a big mistake..
  • Well its the fact that only certain teams have figured out the setup. So the same guys win over and over.
  • I Do.
  • It was inevitable. The cars had to be made safer and stronger to keep up with technology.

As far as wrecking each other. back in the "old days" the cars didn't cost 1/2 a million $$$$. As an owner, if you kept wrecking my cars, I'd bounce yer **** right out of a ride.

Remember that the helmets they use to race with in the beginning were just layers of leather. Should they go back to them to keep on being "old school"????
  • yeah i think it has totally killed the racing. but it has gotten better and plus the nationwide series will have the mustang and challenger
  • yes, it was a mistake
  • Racing isn't about getting into wrecks.
You can't win a race if you wreck your car.
The COT is all about safety, and I think they did a pretty good job.
  • I don't think it was that bad.

Just to get something straight, the reason why Bristol isn't as good now is because they repaved the track and put down progressive banking which allowed cars to pass easier on the outside which meant no more fighting for the bottom lane in the turns.

The COT has been good and bad. Good because it is working to protect the drivers and make them safe when they do have those vicious wrecks. You never hear about drivers getting injured anymore in those Cup cars. Bad because the racing isn't as exciting on some tracks like the cookie-cutter tracks and Michigan and California. I don't think it was that big of a dropoff though. It's still exciting enough for me. Don't you agree that we've still had a lot of exciting races this year?
  • Look...why not just get into a cage, and just LET someone with a 2 X 4 smack you upside the head...

Is that EXCITING enough for you, since the only aspect of racing you NEED is crashes and explosions?
  • I agree especially when Earnhardt Sr was racing you could always count on a few cars getting spun out. Too boring and vanilla today!
  • I'd like to see some changes to the new Cup car, but overall, I think Nascar almost HAD to do something like this. Now the teams and manufacturers all have pretty much the same sheet metal. It's what you do underneath that counts. The downside is that the cars are so equal, once they get spread out at a place like Atlanta, there's not much actual racing going on. If you like to see lots of wrecks, go see a street stock race on double points night.
  • I thought I was going to agree when I saw the question, but you lose me on the details. Maybe Dad and I are exceptions, but we don't like the wrecks. Following the leader is tedious. However, it's better than having all the wrecks with completely ruined cars and injured people. That is the main thing that I like about the COT- that it can be hit and continue to race competitively while keeping the driver safe. I think that they have made the cars too even. It's hard to pass people when you have the same setup, the same horsepower, the same body on your cars. That is my problem with it, that it has made racing less competitive by making everyone too similar...3765 compaq ipaq
  • Anyone no how to watch NASCAR race live for free online?

    May be...

  • Hide in the Closet with your PC and watch away....No self respecting Nascar Fan would be caught watching it on their PC. We all watch on our BIG Screen TVS or live at the Track.
  • The link Superdave gave is the best place for you to watch races.
  • Go here and just click on the link to watch what you want. All times are eastern standard time and near the top it has the current eastern time. I found it one day when one of the races got rained out, and I thought it wasn't going to be televised.

  • Why is NASCAR so popular?

    May be...

  • Hi Luis

NASCAR so popular? where? only in USA.
    I don`t liked
  • Stick with playing the skin flute.
  • It's like any sport if you know all the players , know all the history and know all the facts it can be as fascinating and exciting as any other sport. the KEY words in your whole rant were I DON"T KNOW. If you don't like the sport then why are you on here ????? Maybe get some facts and do some research before you start disrespecting the sport that so many people enjoy.
  • If you have to ask, you'll never get it...All those Lefts are exciting they never know what is around the corner, they have to depend on there crew cheif and spotters, they go 2 and 3 wide around the corners at huge speeds, bet if we got you in a Drive along or if you went to Richard Petty driving school, you would be hooked.
  • Honestly I don't get this "sport" at all
to me its the most boring idiotic sport ever
besides knowing how to drive do you really need a special skill to have a really fast car

its retarded i mean they make circles for i don't know how many laps... how is that fun to watch i mean they could've added a right turn to make it different like wow come on
How much gas does a racer waste in a year
    ITS RETARDED

its like "Oh crap he's making a left turn... Whoa did you see that left turn surprised me"
come on am i missing something???
  • U have to go to a race to understand. Retarded is the way u call something retarded because u dint understand it. Ur lack of tolerance for something u don't like is sad
  • It boils down to, different strokes for different folks. There are plenty of sports and other activities that I don't see the point in or care for but I don't spend my time questioning why others like it. I figure live and let live. I am sure that there are things that you like that most of the people in this world don't and that is what makes us individuals.
If you don't get it then what do you care about the people that do? You need a new hobby other than trolling sections just to express your unwarranted opinion.
Personally, I don't understand the popularity of baseball. I mean come on, grown men throwing a ball, hitting it with a stick and then running around in a circle (making left hand turns), or soccer, full grown men running around dressed like children running around kicking a ball (Oh look at me, I kick the ball like a little girl) but I don't condemn the people that do or troll their section making fun of them, probably good advise for you to follow.
  • NASCAR began more than a decade before the first Super Bowl. And is still going strong today. They must be doing "something" right, eh?
  • It take one who's willing to learn the sport, to actually love it. Apparently thats not your cup of tea. Ignorant people think its just driving in circles. Thats just like saying football players run into eachother, soccer players just run in circles, basketball players just walk around etc. Yes it's a hard sport to get into, but all sports are. Racing requires alot of strategy and skill. Its not easy running a short track, roadcourse or super speedway everyweek. Its physically demanding, drivers can lose up to 30 pounds in sweat alone, not to mention they are pulling 4 g's at most tracks in the corner. This year hasn't been all that great coverage wise. Many commercials, and not that many good races. But if you were to judge the sport, I suggest you go to Bristol Talladega or Daytona. I say spend a weekend in Talladega. Nothing beats the weekend camping/tailgating. Its like mardi-gras, and the racing quality will instantly hook you. I think nascar's problem these days is there are to many boring intermediate cookie cutter tracks.
  • I find it the greatest sport to cure insomnia. 30 laps and zzzzzzzz. right up there with lawn bowls and marbles.
  • aparently its not for you ,stick to your yoga.
  • If it is so easy and does not take any skill then why aren't you out their doing it? If it was so easy everyone would become a NASCAR driver and be making millions.
  • It must be doing something right to make you go on a rant. I detest a little bit of jealousy because sick & ball sports are failing as sports and criminals as players.antibiotic allergies

What is your favorite thing about the nascar chase?

    May be...

  • At first I didn't like it. I like that the top 12 drivers have a chance of winning the championship. It is more fun than someone running away with the cup 3/4 of the way through the season. It adds some drama
  • or if you don't like it then tell me why that is
  • i dont car for the points chase i just like the racen that they do
  • Favorite thing about the chase is that it keeps the excitement level high til the very end of the season. Any of the top 12 drivers can get the championship but I hope Tony Stewart will. I would be shocked if anyone other than Tony, Jeff, or Jimmie wins the 2009 championship.
  • I HATE NASCAR!
  • Like Donald, I think the best thing about the Chase is that no driver can run away with the lead and have such a points gap that they wouldn't have to try as hard late in the season.horrizons

  • I want to buy a street legal formula one car? For kinda cheap, so let me know!intel coret processor
  • Now that you've gotten to see the Chase play out for 5 and a half seasons, what is your opinion?

    May be...

  • The chase is stupid. It should go back to the traditional points system where every race matters from the start of the season!

Mark Martin is 12th in points, but he may end up becoming 1st in points in a couple races. That's so not fair, and I really hope he misses the chase. This fact here helps show how stupid the chase is.

The chase system is not fair for the drivers, while it may be entertaining for the fans.

Also, I believe getting in the chase is really not that big of a deal. Many may disagree with this but I really believe it's nothing great. If you miss the chase, you pretty much suck. It does not take much to make the chase, an average finish of 20th all year would be pretty much enough to make the chase, and that's just not right.
  • My thought from the beginning was it was going to make 10 races better and 26 races worse. What say you?
  • I hate it
  • I think that it stinks. I do not like extended playoffs in any sport. My favorite team, the baseball Cardinals, won it all in 2005. And they were a mediocre team all season. Just got hot late. Anybody can get on a run.
  • I am not a big fan of the chase. You do see drivers points racing at times and hate to see that. Want to see them racing hard to win, after all it is called racing and the first one to finish line should race hard to get there.
Most likely Tony would win the championship if they had no chase and that would be very deserving for all his efforts setting up a new team.
The biggest issue I have with the chase, if your favorite driver doesn't make the chase I loose a lot of interest in watching the last 10 races.
  • The Chase is great...and Jimmy Johnson OWNS it. ;D
  • It has definitely spiced things up. Unfortunately, its all too complicated and long. 5 races, one on a Superspeedway, one Short track, one cookie cutter, one road course, and a 1 miler would make the chase exciting and truly prove the best driver out of the top 10 (12 is too many).
  • Just 26 practice races, then 10 races where the guy who has had the points lead gets screwed.. Its dumb all 36 races should important, not just the last 10 races of the season and 12 drivers make the chase, its just dumb. But its all about money, sponsors, TV, and something for the media idiots to hype. This system as screwed Jeff Gordon twice. I've never liked and I never will. Most of the guys in the top 12 are just points racing, not really racing they are not doing anything that will knock them out. Its really taken all the racing out of racing. It just stinks.

    Go Dale Jr
  • it sucks
  • i hate the chase racin with the old format was so much better
  • The Chase races are great, but I HATE how they race just for points now instead of the wins. That is NOT how racing should be!
  • I still hate the chase. It's fake and rigged. Without a fake points system the IRL championship has come down to the last lap of the last race for the last 2 years. Last year's F1 championship was decide in the final turn of the final race. Giving 12 people a fake chance to win a championship is wrong. It almost always comes down to the 2 guys that deserve it the most. Lets get rid of the chase and have some double points events. It always spices up things at the Saturday night short tracks. Besides, who gives a crap who is 12th in points? That means nothing. At least 10th place used to mean you're going to New York. Not sure what it will mean this year.
Theoretically, I could drive 30 flawless races and finish in the top 10 in all of them, but if I blow an engine in the last 5 races, odds are I've just lost the Cup.
Dale Earnhardt was the first driver to make running for a championship THE priority. He perfected points racing.
  • Honestly I didn't start following NASCAR until after the Chase was implemented, so I don't have a reference. That being said, I don't mind it much. I mean, Tony could get such a lead that he would have no motivation to risk anything at the end of the season. I'm not saying the points allocation is perfect, but it seems to add some excitement in leveling part of the field. Like other sports, you can be awesome during the regular season, but you have to be consistent and back up that performance in the playoffs.
  • It made the season 26 practice races.
    10 do or die.

Why go for the win? Wins don't matter in NASCAR anymore.
    Just "points race"

    Ewww..."points racers"
  • Never have liked it and never will.
  • I think that my thoughts from the beginning have been confirmed: it's not a good idea. I'm a believer that all the races should be worth the same, and now they're not. Last year Jimmie Johnson still almost had the thing wrapped up with a race to go so it's not guaranteeing anything. It just means you can have just a good year for 26 races and suddenly hit a streak and win the championship. NASCAR can compare themselves to football all they want but football is a completely different type of sport.
  • It doesn't make those 10 races any better than the other 26! All the races are still ran the same way; qualifying is the same and 43 drivers race in all of them. Why don't they have 2 separate races during the chase run; the regular race and a shorter race just involving the 12 contenders? After the main race, the top 12 could unload another car if needed and have a short shootout race and then only those races involving the top 12 would be used to determine the championship? That would make more sense to me.
  • I like the Chase. I don't think what we've seen in these first 26 races were just practice races and I don't think these drivers just want to points race. How do you explain yesterday's race? We saw Johnson, Martin, and Vickers all gamble on fuel mileage to try to get the best finish possible. Johnson was pretty much a lock for the Chase and tried to go for it and didn't make it. Martin tried to do it and ran out of gas and now he's on the edge of the top 12 and people are going to be watching these next three races to see if he gets in the Chase and has a shot at the championship. If Vickers ran out of gas, he probably has no shot at the Chase but he rolled the dice and won the race. These drivers still want the win. We've had so many great races in these first 26 races. The Chase has done a great job of creating more excitement.copilot jacket

  • Where you pleased with your NASCAR driver at MIS this week?

    May be...

  • Well, the end result was all right, but Kasey ran pretty poorly all day. Since he has won here before, I was expecting a little more even coming from the end of the field. But 11th was a good end to the day.
  • yup 3rd place was awsome. i'm starting to become a jr fan all over again.
  • I was pretty pleased with Junior Papa. He looked great yesterday and a 3rd place finish is the best he has had in quite a few races so I will happily take that. Good car, good comunication and Top 5 finish...Yay!
  • Good Morning Hot Papa.

Yep, safely finished 1 spot ahead of where he started, still in first overall, didn't wreck, or damage the car.

I'd call that a good day.
  • This is probably the most excited I've been about a third place finish for Junior, considering how his year has gone. He was passing people better than most of the cars on the track. His team planned the strategy well. And he didn't drop towards the back by the end of the race. I'm hoping that the team finally has everything together, and that it wasn't just a fluke.
  • Denny hamlin did not wreck his car and finished 10 ahead of where he started the race.

    Good day
  • When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
  • Morning Papa
I,m gonna take the fifth amendment, on both parts of this question
but like Tom p said he is alive and thats important
  • Mark had a winning car, but got burned on fuel mileage. Good day gone bad, but there is always next week.
  • yes
  • I cannot complain, JR finished third!!
  • Yes I was satisfied but wish that he could have improved just one more position.!

  • mark martin finished 31st..not good and is now 12th in points.
  • Yes! Third place, no mechanical problems, no wrecks, good pit work and a car that was set up well with good adjustments during the race. All in all a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy season.
  • Yep I sure am
    Jeff Gordon got second
    He ROCKS
  • both of mine did. one exstended his points lead. Th other managed to get throught the day without wrecking his car. since thats about all he can seem to do on race weekend.
  • Yes...a 4th place finish isn't too bad, especially after Saturday in the Nationwide Series race.
  • It was an average finish for an average season,, He looked so promising at the 500....
  • i was very happy with mears in a 6th place finish! highest scoring rcr car and the highest of the year! good job casey!
  • Yes, I was pretty happy, great pit stops, stayed out of wrecks, ran great all day, good communication with crew chief, lead some laps, and finished 3rd this is great for us Dale Jr fans. and my other favorite driver won on Saturday...Pretty good weekend all around.. Now its on to Thunder Valley..

    Go Dale Jr
  • Morning Papa. Not a very good day for Kurt who finished 36th and dropped two spot's in the chase. Happy for Sam Hornish Jr. who came home 5th and the only top ten Mopar. Have a great week NATION!!
  • NO! It's the first race I've been to in 4 years and my favorite driver comes in 43rd! I have big girl panties on, but I'm still gonna whine about him doing so bad.
  • 'Awesome' Bill and the Wood Bros.qualified 9th and finished 16th after running mid-pack a lot of the day. I was very pleased!
  • Fourth is OK especially since Carl in now #4 in points and virtually assured of a spot in the Chase. My second favorite driver came in second and secured his spot in the Chase. A good day all around.

  • No.
  • No, the way they built him up, I thought he'd have a handful of wins by now. overrated!!
  • Yes. I am a Tony Stewart fan, and so I would do all of my home improvement shopping at Home Depot. Now when smoke made his new team, well I stopped going to Home Depot, but even though I like Jimmie Johnson, I could not get myself to go to Lowes. So what was I to do (I do alot of things to my home). Well in that Logano has did as well as he has...I just put on some Old Spice and I go to Home Depot with Swagger.

But yes, the kid has done really well.
  • Yes. Him an Zippy are in the same mind frame and that is good.
  • ....doing super.I did not think he would be so acclamated to these tracks this fast, but he is a quick learner.
  • absolutley. no one exspects a rookie 2 do this good. I hope he can keep it up.
  • I think he has done better than I expected. He has won a race which I did not expect. I do know that he is with one of the top teams in the sport and has a car and crew chief to give him the best opportunity to showcase his talent.
  • Yes. I was one of the folks that thought he should wait another year or two. Heck I didn't even hardly like him at first all that sliced bread nonsense. Now I think it was a good move bringing him to the Cup the kid is great and I am really taking a liking to him. He is quite talented, he learned his place and learned to respect the Sprint boys. He is poised and level headed even at his young age.space quest iii vga

  • Johnson eventually gave up the lead on that lap anyway.

  • I think Nascar didn't penalize him because he was just about an inch ahead of Vickers and plus if I recall right, Vickers took the lead on the same lap both restarts. Nascar makes a judgement call on those situations. If the 2nd place car gained an entire car length or more over 1st place they would probably penalize a driver.
  • i think if the situation was reversed Vickers would've been penalized. NASCAR like all other sports league has to protect the people they market the most. Look at LeBron they're considering changing traveling to 3 1/2 steps due to his crab dribble. The rules of NFL got changed last offseason due to Tom Brady's injury. Those are just a few references, Michael Jordan they say had his own set of rules. Anyone remember D Wade in the 06 finals, man got every blocking call never got a charge when he was steamrolling the Mavs. NBA is easiest to reference in this situation cuz they are more superstar driven then other leagues, but they all do it.
  • Vickers spun the tires like ''Carl 68c'' explained.
  • It was seemed obvious that he was ahead of Vickers when they crossed the start/finish line. Is this a privilege of NASCAR champions that I don't know about?
  • As I said in the other question like this one, Jimmie is Nascar's golden boy. They'll do whatever they can to keep Jimmie in the running. AND HE STILL COULDN'T WIN!
  • I was confused over that as well since they've said the guy in 2nd cannot be ahead of the leader at the line....didn't matter in the end but still, they've never been consistant in their rules, lol
  • i didn't see it so ill take the word that vickers spun the tires. even though every little bit of me wants to say duh he drives for hendrick thats why he wasn't penalized but like i said i didn't see it so. i just love that both of vickers wins have come at Johnson's expense.
  • i don't know.
  • Because Jimmie is better than Vickers
  • NASCAR stated in the drivers meeting that they would look at any infraction and make a judgement call at that time. No penalty was needed.
  • This is the problem with the Nascar rules. There are too many "judgement" calls. Something should either be a penalty or not be a penalty. If JJ was ahead at the line, he should received a penalty. period.
  • jimmie gave the lead back to vickers
  • they showed the replay in slow motion and Jimmie was not ahead of Vickers at the checkered line.the remedy music

Why was J. Johnson not penalized for jumping the last restart in today's NASCAR race?

    May be...

  • jimmie gave the lead back to vickers

  • Johnson eventually gave up the lead on that lap anyway.
  • He was penalized....They told him he had to run out of gas with 2 to go.

    [End Conspiracy]
  • beacuse he does alot behind the scenes and under the desks.
