NASCAR Nationwide Winner..?

May be...

  • i choose somebody eles that isnt him then!!
  • dang i wanted ambrose my 1st pick butttttt....Dario Franchiti

thats why he was my original pick but i guess i didnt get here quick enough
  • Marcos Ambrose

    Woohoo! Way to go Marcos!
Mustard, I came this close to picking Dario!
  • Mark me down for Kyle Busch before Winter gets here.
  • harvick
  • Rowdy.

    Grrr...Papis.
  • Choose 1 driver who do you think will win at Watkins Glen in todays NATIONWIDE race.
And don't pick the same driver.

    I choose Robby Gordon
  • Jimmie Johnson

LOL, at t-bone and winter..you 2 are so funny..gotta love yas
  • Brad Kozlowski (i hope i spelled it right)
  • newman
  • Well you got Robby and every time I pick my guy he seems to run like crap so I'm going with.... Denny Hamlin!
  • What is the nicest gesture on or off the track you have seen a nascar driver do?

    May be...

  • I agree they all do nice things but I think Birdy is right Kyle Petty is a very nice guy and does a lot for NASCAR and the Children with terminal illnesses.
  • i'd have to say kyle petty and all he does for the victory junction gang camp has to be number one. and that's already been described above.

but a close number two has to be tony stewart - this year alone he has taken time to help out chrissy wallace and joey logano in mentoring them for their first races at certain tracks, and when morgan shephard said he couldn't afford tires to race the next week, tony and matt yocum bought them for him. plus he has built the "prelude to the dream" into a million dollar enterprise for petty's camp. and he has gone out of his way to take sick children down with him to the pits (that one girl who he said brought him luck comes to mind). and that doesn't even begin to touch on the many other things not "racing-related" like donating winnings to the victims of the floods in the mid-west.

and i can't leave out the piece they did when he visited a home for children with chronic/terminal illnesses a week or two ago. he gave an interview while with the kids that nearly brought tears to my eyes. he talked about how working with them really gives him perspective any time he thinks about what he considers a bad day. as he put it, "compared to what these kids go through, we don't know what a bad day is."
  • There is always nice gestures going on out there in the nascar community, but I think the guy who often gets overlooked is Kyle Petty. I was not around for his glory days in nascar, and it seems he is often overlooked today. With his Victory Junction Camp, he is really giving back! Also this week he jumps out of his ride to give a ride to Boris (who did not qualify since qualifying was set by the points... It does not get any nicer than that. I would just love for something good to come out of it for Kyle... I would just love to see him get a good finish...

Like I said there are lots of good people in nascar who are very generous with their time and money, but none more so than Kyle Petty, I know he does tons more with his time and money, but I just wanted to put in my two cents...
  • not pick their nose on t.v.
  • There's a lot of things that a lot of drivers do. Carl Edwards gives many of his trophies away after he wins, he also gives money to different charities. Greg Biffle, Ryan & Krissie Newman are all involved in charities involving animals.

Kyle Petty buiding the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Tony Stewart holds the Pralude to the Dream race at his track in IL, he sometimes donates his winnings to charities, & he's been involved in Habbitat for Humanity. Jamie McMurray has his charity dealing with autisim & he donates money to autisim charities.

Many, many, many of the drivers are involved in the Make-A-Wish foundation. At the Coke Zero 400 I saw a kid in his electric wheelchair in the Daytona USA gift shop. He was carrying a sign saying he was with the Make A Wish foundation & was there to see Jeff Gordon. Later I was in the FanZone & saw him again, I heard someone saying that he's got to meet Jeff & get autographs from him & other drivers & had gotten some pictures.

And these are just some of many things that drivers, crews, officials, & others do to help others in need.

So, there's lots of things I've seen. Even if I am not a fan of a certain driver, seeing them do things like that is good. It makes you smile a little, knowing that they never forget those whom are, I won't say less fortuaniate as those people usually don't see it that way, but who just need alittle more help than most of us do.
  • kyle busch bowing down after winning
  • Crash
  • At Texas MotorSpeedway a couple of years ago. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair. She had the chance to go to pit road for Cup qualifing. She sat in her chair and was ignored by ever driver that walked by her. Robby Gordon saw her, stopped and went over to her, stood by her for a few minutes to ask her how she was. Later that weekend, Robby was signing autographs at one of his Souvenir trailers. He saw us walk by, recognized my mother-in-law, left the trailerand walked up to us, gave my mother-in-law a free autographed shirt and cap. I have had respect for robby ever since.
  • I thought it was cool that after September 11th, Robby Gordon donated all the money he got for winning the race at New Hampshire to the families of the 9/11 victims.
  • The nicest gesture i've seen by a driver is Juan Pablo Montoya taking out the #18 and then telling the truth about it.
  • I thought it was cool at Pocono when Dale Jr. and Steve Park wrecked really hard and it threw Parks car up and on it's side, and Dale Jr. ran to Park's car and made sure he was ok. Then they walked together to the ambulance. I thought that was very cool of Jr. to show so much concern for his teammate.
  • birdy hit the nail on the head!
  • Tony Stewart, as much as he's not my favorite driver, does a ton with donations and charity events. He gives a lot back in time and money. Carl Edwards is always giving trpohies away .. All of the drivers pretty much have foundations and charities set up.
  • The nicest thing I have seen was when Jeff Gordon won right after Dale Sr passed and he grabbed the number 3 flag and paraded it around the track!
  • Carl edwards not doing the backflip after he won the race in respect for the driver that had just past away
  • So many to choose from but i am with the Kyle Petty peeps..they are correct..one of the nicest drivers especially to the fans and the children who attend the races whether he is racing or commentator for a race
  • Who think Nascar needs to

    May be...

  • Nascar dosent know how to handle it.
They think they can control everything. They want to rule everything, even the rain. I loved nascar at one time, not any more. Its all the money nowdays. My 13 year old would not wuss out
  • one the guy who said i love cheez is a fag

NASCAR just cant spend so much time nationwide has practice and stuff there are other things besides sprint cup goin there...i wish they would of but NASCAR is trying to do the best they can
  • I LOVE CHEEZEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  • These guys that run Nascar aren't stupid people. They pay attention to the weather the whole week leading up to the race. If they knew it was going to rain Friday afternoon, they could have tweeked the schedule a little. Do it early Friday, or Saturday. Give people like Boris Said a chance to make it without taking over someone elses ride. They have a number of different ways to get qualifying in. I agree with you, they have to do something.
  • I hate they cancelled quals as well. But I agree NASCAR hands were tied with a race sch'd at 6:30pm (Rolex series I believe) and rain tires are not an option on the COT. BUT if weather looks favorable for Sat a.m. why not delay it until then. There is going be opinions on both sides of the fence about this....but I would rather they do whatever is necessary to qualify. A team drives all the way up there, rents hotels, feeds the crew, etc and then is sent home because quals are rained out. I understand that this part of the sport but I wished they would change that.
  • i think there was some other racing scheduled for the track today. One of the regional series or something like that. And they couldn't wait for the track to be ready for the Cup guys, and still get the other show started on time.
  • dude it rained
    line up by points
    done
  • nascar has to do the best with the time they had available. they've got to worry about more than just qualifying, and more than just about themselves - the rolex series raced there later in the day. and qualifying at the glen takes a fair chunk of time. bottom line, if they get no sprint cup practice in, everyone's in the same boat. those drivers jumping the nationwide race are going to get some seat time - but even that doesn't help all that much as not as much knowledge gained from the downforce cars of the nationwide series is applicable to the car of today.
  • Well at least Kyle and Dale will start up front. I am just glad I am not NASCAR and don't have to make all these decisions. Can't make everyone happy.....
  • once again and I will answer the same way I did the last time. Nascar is not going to run the cot in the rain they are not designed for wet weather yes they ran the nationwide cars in the rain last week but it wasnt exactly the greatest race. It would be stupid to try and do qualifying in the rain anyway as the cars are much looser in qualifying trim and therefore harder to control they do it that way because the driver only has to hold onto it for a lap or two but in the rain it would be impossible.
  • I like see it but will not happen With the rich primia donnas driving the cars would have there hair styles become frizzy in the rain and nascar cannt have their draws unhappy
  • who in here thinks or agrees with me that nascar. needs to grow up

and stop Canceling Qualifying cause of some rain . i mean come on nascar

you had all day to get it done but your just like oh well it raining line em

    up by points

i mean this is going to be a weird race no track time at all so no one knows how good anyone is
  • Hey, its a rain out...yeah I know its a road course and most racing types run in the rain....well its NA$car they don't even have the best tires for the COT as it is.....DUH, the Nationwide guys ran great last week I think I heard they havethe rain tires and wiper blades and I'm sure cousin Carl has his little sqeezie (or how ever its spelled ready) for the rain tomorrow.. I thought it was great the Nationwide guys ran in the rain.. I hope NA$car re thinks this for next yr road course fans are a tough breed rain thunder lighting, Lets go racing boys.. I think they should run in the rain, but they need to get the tires together first. Hey boys its a road course...dang it.alittle rain..WTF, Lets put the rain tires on and lets go RACING!!! I'm sorry I love road courses as well as the ovals.. Life Long Nascar fan here..
  • Will Danica crash on pit lane this weekend?

    May be...

  • Lets hope that Danica is focused on driving on the track, and these issues are behind her...and she had to go to her back up car..Danica focus on driving a smart race PLEASE, none of your PMS'g tantrums please!! SO I say this week there will be no Danica pit lane issues.

    Go Helio
  • and if so, how many times?
  • Do you have any hobbies?
  • I wish we could vote for best question because that is FUNNY!!!!
I love the second part> "and if so, how many times?" LOL!!
  • That's not very nice.

Oh, what the heck, I'll say 2x's.
  • After the yawnfests @ Indy, Pocono, and Canada is NASCAR producing an inferior product??

    May be...

  • Let me guess you're one of the guys that likes watching follow the leader at Talladega waiting for a big wreck. The only thing inferior is your knowledge or appreciation of auto racing.

I think Obama promises more wrecks at Nascar races. You'll be set bro.
  • NASCAR is having some problems. Hopefully, they will overcome them. This ain't their first rodeo.

I live in the drought-stricken south. Watching grass grow would be extremely entertaining to me right now. : )
  • I'll give you Indy as a yawnfest but to me Pocono and the race in Montreal was good at least in my opinion. There was drama that played out in all of them though. Ill say it, to me Pocono was almost the best race of the year. No one could keep up with the strategies going through the drivers and crew chiefs mind. That's good Nascar to me. I'm with Lynn on watching grass grow, that's a big deal here where I live in Texas. I also like to watch paint dry too.
  • What were you expecting? NASCAR has to adapt. It can't be the same technology that they were running 30 or 20 or even 10 years ago.
They put the COT in place. Granted, it was a bit pre-maturely, but it's here, and they're still working out the kinks and bugs.
Any true fan would understand this, and stick it out while they do.

Tbone saw something in your question that I'm not sure if anyone else would have. I know I wouldn't have. He did answer your question and the way you responded, proved him right. You can say you've been a NASCAR fan for 40 years, and maybe you have been, but if all your looking for is the thrill and excitement of what happens on short tracks, and fail to see the strategy and equal, but different excitement at any other type of track, you can't possibly appreciate the sport.

So...If you're that disgusted with NASCAR, stop watching.
If you're that unimpressed with the answers given to you here, stop coming.
  • Before I decided to answer this question I took a look at your profile and some of the questions that you have answered. It's been a month since you even answered a question in the Nascar section. That being said, right now Nascar is going thru a lot of changes. When they switched to the COT it changed a lot of things. It's not going to be the way it used to be. Everything changes, that's part of life, Personally I think Nascar has done a pretty good job of handling things. Indy may not of been the most exciting race, but it was a smart call by Nascar to put driver safety first. I have to agree with Jay, Lynn, Super Dave & the others the true fans will stick with it. We have a good group of very knowledgable people in this section and a lot of very good points were brought up by all. I just don't see why you felt the need to come on here and insult the good members in this forum. Maybe you should stay in the political section. You insulted all of us, not just the 3 you called out. Report me if you choose, but you are the one who should of been reported.
  • No inferior product in NASCAR. Maybe in Elections???
  • Yeah, I posted here couple a times and deal with the same bs. You gotta understand most of these jerks with 1000 of points don't have alife that what makes em such *** holes. See notin wrong with your ? wonder if they know what the rest YA say about em.
  • shutup dude pocono was good infinion was a bunch of sprints and i liked it. i stoped watching canada cause the cameras couldent get all the raceing and i watch the last 10 laps at dega if i get bored but i usually dont it's alot more than following the leader are u realy even a fan??
  • Nascar just gets me by until Football season ! Nascar causes more sleep on Sunday than a Turkey dinner !
  • I agree the cot has caused it take the rear wing off and let 'em get sideways more often. The wing actually isn't the problem they need to take the end plates off the rear spoiler!! Everyone rants about how great the drivers are getting at saving their cars, the cars basically right themselves now when they get sideways. It's like they are driving with training wheels. Put 'em back in the old cars and see who rises to the occasion
  • Yes. The COT has caused it.
  • I'll give you Indy, but I thought Pocono was better than it usually is and the Nationwide race in Montreal was actually good. I like road courses and I'm looking forward to the Glen. I don't think NASCAR is producing an inferior product. Just a different product. I like beatin' and bangin' and lead changes and fender bendin' as much as the next race fan, but I can also appreciate a good pit stop and race off pit road, a fuel mileage gamble, and driver finesse.
  • And next *YAWN* Watkins Glen. I think that they sould mount a camera in the infield so we can watch the grass grow, that would be more entertaining!
  • yea maybe its not racing the way it used to be but true nascar fan will stick it out, me, myself wouldnt stop watching racing because of the lack of passing and competition on the track...this is something new just like the chase, still working out the kinks, in order for the sport to keep growing they had to take a chance on some things and there doing that..bare with them...its not that bad...pocono we all know is boring but that last fuel mileage run wasnt...and as far as Indy, it wasnt what everyone wanted to see but it was different because it gave all drivers a new challenge plus the fastest guy won for a change and not someone who happend to get two tires on the last stop and win on chance...and that montreal race...that was the 1st time in histroy they tried rain tires and i think they did pretty good...they just didnt know when to call it quits until cars running under caution started wrecking, so Nascar is not doing a bad job at all, if its so bad then stop watching and otherwise you wouldnt even be in here complaining if it was
  • Sorry you are so bored with our great sport. You have to take the good with the bad.

BTW...TBone is one of the best fans on here and far from the idiot you are making yourself out to be. How nice for you that you can call yourself a fan for 40 years, but then say you are only a fan of certain tracks. Why be so judgmental? Some questions just aren't up to par either, no matter what race you are.

This place is really starting to suk.
  • They probably really aren't NASCAR fans. They probably set up those accounts cause they liked to get people angry. We NASCAR fans, at least the ones I know, are very vocal about their favorite drivers.
  • ...because they drive Toyotas
  • How do you know they are suspended? They could get get bored with this section and go to another one. That's what I've done this week...it's been unusually slow around the Nascar section this week.
  • They aren't suspended. They are still here obviously.

I was concerned over a few that I hadn't seen around in awhile but they have popped in since. Soo...I don't know if anyone is suspended.

Some people are just on vacation. or like me, when things get out of hand, I step away for awhile and go elsewhere.

  • What do you think of the races at the Auto Club speedway? (formerly California Speedway)

  • I really dont care for california
    its boring
like mich' chicago and several others
  • i cant stand it
    its boring
    and it took from darlington
  • I live about 30-40 minutes from the track depending on the wonderful So Cal traffic.. The spring race is okay, its not my favorite track. They need to drop this labor day weekend out there, its to F'G HOT last yr 158-160 degree track temps, and its still hot when the race starts late in the afternoon..Its just the wrong weekend, college football, and NFL have already started, and this yr OMG the Angels and Dodgers are doing great. Its the last big beach weekend from Malibu to Doheny beach down in Dana Point there will be over 2 million people at the beach out here, family BBQ's at the beach, home, backyard.. Too much going on for people to go to the track... I'm working the fan fest on Thursday and going to qualifying on Friday, I might make the Nationwide race, but I won't be at the Cup race, and next yr I'm going to Myrtle Beach, SC.. Nascar get this race back where it belongs Darlington, SC the Lady in Black does Nascar proud there won;t be a empty seat in the house...One race out here a yr is enough. I've seen some good races, but we can not fill the stands out here..

edit: but Nascar fans in So Calif will go to Phoenix and Vegas, they just have better races.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • i live about 25 minutes away from it and i think it's not the most exciting track by far. the way it's setup leaves a lot to be desired - it's near impossible to see the cars as they go down the backstretch, and along the frontstretch the cars are right up against the wall, which is just high enough so you can't see them. so, you can only really see them well going down into turn one and coming out of turn four. even with great seats, binoculars are a necessity. and as it tends to get really spread out, it's not as exciting as races at say vegas, not to mention nearly every other track on the circuit.

the winter/spring race here is ok and i enjoy going to see them, especially so i can check out the merchandise trailers; but the labor day race - you can have it. one race a year here is enough, and the weather here in february and march is better than most parts of the country. labor day, however, it gets around 140 degrees down around the track and is not exciting enough to get me out to risk sunstroke and severe dehydration. i wouldn't mind seeing that race moved to vegas or back to darlington, but leave the earlier race here.
  • It's cool,it isn't my favorite but it's cool. My dad got me into nascar and I really like daytona but I like california speedway too.
  • One of my least favorite racetracks on the circuit. Its just never an exciting race to watch. I think they need to cut it down to just one race a season and give the other race to a new circuit. I always thought the sprint cup should make a stop in Canada. (NOT MONTREAL)
  • Never been there. Not my favorite track, but it is cool because of the 3 and 4 wide racing.
  • It,s a cool track...Saw a truck and busch race there some years back...I remember parking was a breeze!!!

  • I still call it that but sopnsorship is so important now because professional sports are so expensive. I guess you can't really blame them. If we want the sport to stay they need to get the money somehow.
  • It'll always be the Firecracker 400 to me no matter who is sponsoring it.
  • Aman to that!!!!!How about the World 500!!!Or the Rebel 400!!!This is another sellout with nascar!!!!All the sports do it....The San Francisco Giants new ball park has had like 4 differnt names!!!!
  • Does it really matter what they call a race? Is the title that important? It is still a race. So what if they change the name for the sake of sponsorship $$$$$. Somebody has to pay the bills...

Did Dale Jr. run out of gas Sunday to prove a point to NASCAR?

    May be...

  • what point could he be trying to make

his crew chief cant figure milage and should be fired
  • He ran out to prove he sucks.
  • no way tons of ppl wer creepin across the finish!
  • I bet if you asked 43 drivers if the race should be 400 miles instead of 500 miles you would have 43 drivers say yes. Drivers have been complaining about it for years.

A bunch of drivers ran out on the last lap. The teams gambled and quite a few came up short. Several more ran out just after the finish. Jr doesn't fill the tank he just drives. There is nothing he can do about that.
  • you know the man could be right but i remember other people running out of gas too like winter glory said. but i think people who complain about him and stewart are the babies. i would go with winter glory on this

why if we dislike him do we talk about him?
  • Here is an article on the subject. Is he just being a big baby?

Friday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. loudly professed his desire to shorten the length of the five hundred mile race at Pocono Speedway to four hundred miles.

"It's a big, big race track," Earnhardt said. "It's no different really than running at Indy [the Allstate 400] and that's 160 laps. It's a 400-mile race and that's probably what this should be." Earnhardt continued, "I think the races are too long here, I think that's obvious. I think NASCAR thinks it's too long, but the people in charge of that will not change it for whatever reason. Just for spite maybe, I don't know. But they don't have to be out there running."
Sunday on the final lap of the rain delayed Sunoco Fuel-Red Cross 500, Earnhardt allowed his car to run out of fuel and fell from third place to twelfth showing the sellout crowd that the race truly was too long. Carl Edwards finished first for the fourth time this season followed by Tony Stewart. Both drivers reported they had no problems with the length of the race at the fabled triangle and an unnamed source said, "It seems like Junior wants to make the same money for less work."
  • NO! Dale, Jr. wants to win races not prove points. There is no way he would throw and race to prove a point to NASCAR. He has NASCAR's ear because of who he is and who his dad was. I am sure his point was noted and in the next few years Pocono will be shortened. Of course to save face it will not be next year and the excuse for shortening will probably be fuel or something like that. But NASCAR heard loud and clear what Jr. said.
  • no, he didn't do this to prove an point
he just saying that Poconco was the hard track to race well in it because of the turns
  • Come on grow up unless this was a protest by all the other drivers who ran out also you can't read more into things than that it just happened. I guess KB was part of this big conspiracy too since he ran out and didn't even get his car restarted
  • no
  • That's ridiculous. Every race at Pocono is a lousy fuel mileage race. You aren't aware twelve drivers ran out of gas this last race? Jeff Gordon had Casey Mears push him two miles to get off the track. I'm not going to list all the cars that had to be pushed to the inspection area that had no gas.
  • no he wasnt the only car to run out of gas there was several cars that ran out of gas
  • you know what nascar should do bring back the old gas holders from the old cars. it was 22.5 gallons i believe make it more exciting.
  • No, he is not the only one who ran out of gas. Several cars did. Or did you miss that part at the end??
  • Jr. wouldn't just purposely run out of gas like that...he wants the championhip too bad to risk it like that. A lot of drivers an out of gas that day. Look at what happened to Kyle...he quite possibly could have won it...or at least get a top 5 and he was really cookin in the end...and then look. Jr. didn't do it purposely anymore than Kyle did.
  • hmm...I'm gonna go with no on this one. He wasn't the only driver to run out of gas :(
  • He should stop being a CRY-Baby !!! Shut up and RACE or Go Home,
  • Jr. was one of MANY who ran out of gas. Since you didn't post a link to your "article", one can only speculate as to the accuracy or validity of it. If you remember, some drivers pitted out of sequence, and some got better mileage than others. Many factors involved here, some gambled and lost.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • I don't believe that at all. Dale JR and many other drivers ran out of gas during the final laps. Why would he OR ANYONE risk points by proving a point to NASCAR that's going to fall on deaf ears anyways? I'm sure if we were to talk to JR he would have rather finished 3rd vs 12th as would anyone.
  • Sounds like another BS article. Like winter said he wasn't the only one to run out. Also why would he run out on purpose and give all of his haters a reason to say he didn't win another one?
  • no he did not
  • over88ted.com is your source for this claim (it is to be found nowhere else on the net) and you expect us to believe it? either you are just another junior-basher or you don't know real journalism from parody, or most likely, both.

it definitely tells us something - how much to trust your "sources" whenever you use "an article" to back up your claims. btw, many drivers and others in the garage believe the pocono race should be shorter.
  • 3rd Round of my best Racecar driver championship

    May be...

  • Richard Petty with his 1967 #43
    Dale Earnhardt by a nose!!!
  • "My Best Racecar Driver"
It sounds like a Disney family classic
  • Kyle Busch
    Dale Sr.
  • Richard Petty
    Dale Earnhardt Sr.
  • Current/Retired Drivers
    Kyle Busch vs. Richard Petty
    Deceased Drivers
Dale Earnhardt Sr. vs. Neil Bonnet

Note to President of Jr. Nation, the criteria to make my playoffs is that I have to like them and they have to be or have been a good racecar driver. I will put Dale Jr. in next month's playoffs.
  • Kyle Busch

    Dale Earnhardt Sr.

OMG...I can't wait to see what Rd 4 is going to be. You need to post how many voted for each!!!
  • kyle busch

    dale sr
  • Wow, great question.

Kyle and Richard are in different eras. Richard had to deal with fewer rules and regs. There wasn't as much 'let's keep it fair and drive cookie cutter cars'. Kyle is just starting his career, and it would be impossible to break some of Richard's records, but I think even Richard might give this one to Kyle.

I've only seen clips of Sr, and of course I've learned alot about him. I think he was probably the face of nascar.
  • What do you think about Lagano

    May be...

  • HE IS A LIL PRICK . BUT HE IS A GOOD DRIVEN PRICK
  • The jury's still out with me on Logano. I just haven't seen enough of him yet to form any kind of solid opinion.
  • I think he's talented, well groomed, has landed in a sweetheart of an organization as a springboard to great things. In life a lot of success can be placed on being in the right place at the right time. With the departure of Stewart, Logano is right where he needs to be to maximize his talents, refine his image, and perhaps become the next "great" one.
  • No real data to compare to. He needs to stick around for a while so we know he's not just another bottle rocket, pretty to watch in the beginning but disappears rather quickly.
  • I haven't really decided, but I hate jumping on the bandwagon, so he'll probably be somewhere in the middle for me.
  • Like most drivers he will be as good as the equipment that he climbs into and he certainly will get into some good stuff. A friend of mine told me before this season (#24 fan) that we would find out how good that Dale Jr was now that he is driving premium cars. Well, #88 is second in the points after 21 races and I guess that is pretty much all the proof that you need.............If the Junior bashers knew this they would probably shut their yap. Back to your question, Joey Logano will do well with Gibbs.
  • I'm not gonna put my opinion cause then ill get yelled at and i want to know wat pll think about Lagano not my opinion
  • I like him. I am 16 years old and would like to follow in his footsteps. I look up too him. I find he is a great driver. I like his sponsorship since I shop there. He is a hell of a good driver.
  • Saviour of Nascar
  • He's a great oval racer, can't drive a road course for his life, and if he's not in a gibbs nationwide car, he'll never win.
  • The kid seems to have talent, too early to form an opinion. Get him out of the 20 car, then see what he's got.
  • He seems to have what it takes, some skill an ATTITUDE thats for sure.
  • Should EPA let Nascars run unregulated blowing harmfully emissions out causing global warming

    May be...

  • Like OMG, it would be like SOOOOOOOO superbly amazing if the EPA could focus all their like, total attention on NASCAR ,and have like, no bigger fish to fry. LIKE TOTALLY !!!! LOL!!!!
  • What? It's just NASCAR polluting the Earth and that's it? Why don't you go stop by Beijing and see how it is there?
  • NASCAR is doing their part to fight global warming. I heard Elliott Sadler, Kenny Schrader, and Boris Said have all decided to become pirates.
  • YES they should..so shut your mouf...shut your mouf ryecch nyow!!

your fruiter than a bowl of froot loops, fruity pebbles and richard simmons all wrapped up with a rainbow ribbon while "what what in my butt" plays
  • should the epa let you drive to work should the epa let you run your computer should the epa let hockey rinks use energy to freeze the ice should the epa let soccer football golf baseball etc. cut the grass
  • yes why not
  • Should the EPA continue to let you blow unregulated harmful emissions out of your mouth?

If the EPA tries to come down on NASCAR then they're going to have to go after every racing series, local and national, across America because they're all privately owned, just like NASCAR is. If millions of people want to drive hundreds of miles to see NASCAR races every year, then that's their American right to do so.

Why don't you look back over your Civics and history homework so you'll understand more about what the government can and can't do to our rights?
  • yes they should
  • Maybe they should just switch to little electric cars like the Smart Car! I know I sure would be excited to see 43 little cars taking the high banks at Talladega at exactly 65MPH!!! Of course I'm being a little sarcastic....no offense but without the harmful emissons we would have no NASCAR, with No NASCAR no use for this forum. I'm sure the EPA has already taken a good stone cold look at NASCAR and has for years, heck it's the gov't you know.
  • Should the EPA allow you to fart, breathe, drive to work, use butane to cook,BBQ,light a bonfire, shoot a gun,or maybe light a cigar. WELL HELL YES. If we worry about everything the EPA says we can't do, then we just assume die. Because we would not be living happy lives. So go green on an island somewhere and leave us NASCAR FANS alone. How do you like them apples.
  • Nascars..hmmmm..dingaling
  • Well, they do.

    And yes they should.

    So there.
  • Definitely !!!! They are stimulating the economy and employing thousands of people ,so their carbon footprint is probably negative when you factor all of that in ! If you are that worried about it start walking and quit using electricity .Also grow your own food.
  • Im sure Nascar and the Epa could try but they dont care
  • Class A, I am going to go on faith that this question is not your opinion and you are just asking for your knowledge. You know how I get about environmentalists with my speeches.

NO SPEECH TODAY, SO MY ANSWER IS YES!
  • they don't even build ozone depleting NASCARS
Cars only cause air-pollution. NASA pokes holes in our atmosphere with spacecraft, and the EPA doesn't stop them. Now if Toyota built an ozone depleting NASCARS, that would be a different story, because you know... those Japanese don't even use the EPA, and they like to ride bicycles over there. As far as global warming goes, if anybody knew the trends, before the last ice age there was an increase in the earths temperature, and also less than a century ago parts of North America experienced an almost twelve month winter. The trends in weather patterns dictate that we may see another ice age within less than two hundred years. You would be better off worrying about a giant meteor hitting Earth.
  • Yes...and send all the water from the melted ICE CAPS to Georgia.
  • Should the EPA ban anything that pollutes the environment, thereby plunging the world into economic chaos?
  • Yep, they sure should. There's nothing like setting at a racetrack and smelling the fumes & burning rubber. It's all part of the experience that I love.
  • yes. they should also make sure that all people trying to fight global warming are able to form intelligible sentences.
  • Yes, get over it. We have far bigger issues than Nascar. Go focus on those.
  • Should the EPA let cows fart because they contribute to global warming with all the methane they produce.
  • im sure there are more causes of global warming than nascar.we are all doomed anyway so it dont make no difference.us redneck, white trash want our nascar even if it blows up the planet (as long as its after the race)
  • Yes, they should. There's a lot of unregulated blowing going on. NASCAR should be allowed to have their fair share.
  • Global warming is as real as the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause. They're not hurting anything.
  • 43 cars running for 4 hours isn't going to make the earth burn up.
  • Has NOT been proven exhaust is part of global warming. Cow flatulence is supposedly more harmful.
Never heard of Nascars. I do know NASCAR.
  • Yes...as long as there are cars/trucks/trains/planes and let's not forget rockets {!!!!!} that are in use.
  • more emissions come from daily peeps like you and the rest of us driving and lots of crappy cars on the highway...as for global warming..we have already destroyed it so why worry, that's the American way( sarcasm intended)

    Interesting question..NOT!

ROFLMAO at Wedge Ann..loved your answer...still laughing and a thumbs up to ya!
  • Now you want them regulating blowing?

    Global warming is a farce.
  • I DONT THINK 43 CARS WOULD HURT OUR OZONE OR MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE WITH EMMISSION I WOULD SEE MORE OF AN ISSUE WITH CONSERVING FUEL THEN THE AIR BEING THERE ARE LOTS MORE CARS IN THE CITYS THAN AT A RACE TRACK THE ONLY PROBLEM YOU MAY GET FROM A RACE IS CARBON MANOXIDE POISONING AND THAT IS HARDLY LIKELY ONLY A FEW DRIVERS EVER HAD THAT HAPPEN TO THEM SO I SAY KEEP ON RACING BOYS BOOGEDY BOOGEDY BOOGEDY
  • 6.8.08

If you could pick any sponsor for your favorite NASCAR driver who/what would it be?

    May be...

  • I do not have a favorite driver but I like Playboy as a sponsor.

Ok...Mark Martin with a Playboy sponsor.. how is that?
  • Kyle Busch-I would have him keep M&M'S and Snickers, but I would add Chips Ahoy!, KFC, and Budweiser!
  • I would love for my company to sponsor Jeff Gordon so I could get free stuff and maybe get to meet him.

Beside that, I think Taco Bell would be a great sponsor for Jeff because I like to eat there.

I also like Dr. Pepper. They have 23 flavors so I guess they should sponsor a 23 car. If they would add one more flavor, they could sponsor Jeff.
  • I agree with idctp. And some band aids for the sore losers
  • Domino's for David Reutimann, Chips Ahoy for Dale Earnhardt Jr. (maybe even Mountain Dew, not AMP.

Hey STORM BANDIT... how about Playboy and Viagra for Mark Martin? how funny would that be?
  • I'd like to see Cabela's sponsor Kasey Kahne since he lives in Washington state which, from what I've heard, has good hunting areas.
  • Number 88 and Playgirl as the sponsor or number 24 and Hyatt Legal Pre Marrige Agreement Team
  • Kurt Busch is NOT my favorite driver but I think Dr. Phil would be a great sponsor for him.... maybe the Dr. can help Kurt get through this horrible season, and help him with the unassisted spins he keeps having....He some sort of help!!!
  • Hmm... That's a tough one. No really it is. My favorite driver is Tony Stewart. I think either Mountain Dew or Coke would be a good sponsor for him. Personally, I like both bevearages so that's why.
  • i really would like to see Jamie McMurray (26) be sponsored by Wonderbread...that would be hella funny if the car looked like the one from Talladega Nights.....SHAKE n BAKE
  • Jr. Fans--tired of drinking AMP? Stewart fans--hate Subway or prefer shopping at LOWES? If you could pick any current/past/or any sponsor for your favorite driver and/or team what would it be???

I think I'd like to see BURGER KING sponsor the #43; think about the possibilities...the king and the KING. Just for fun...what do you think?
  • Tony Stewart and Anger Management class at the local heath clinc.
  • I would like to see Jr be sponsored by Kleenex that way his fans could wipe away their tears with one of his products.
  • Exxon Mobile. They profit the most in millions of any company. WalMart generates the most revenue but Exxon is way more profitable. Could afford anything with those guys as a sponsor.
  • I'd like to see Junior sponsored by his own bar Whisky River. That would be a cool car. Every few weeks they could switch out the bands to put on the car. Kid Rocks' Rock N Roll Jesus would be a cool azz car idea.
  • Who will win the 1st rd of my best racecar driver championship

  • Don't you think F1 needs new/actual face, who really wants to win

    May be...

  • due to public demand atleast i maybe in f-1 in 3yrs at least...;-)
  • Not sure what you are getting at. I still find F1 exciting; it's like a high speed chess match.

I haven't spoke to them personally, but I'm pretty sure Massa, Hamilton, etc. still want to win....
  • I have NEVER been bored by F1. It could get better but I love it!!
  • What Formula One needs is unpredictability.

We have a rigid structure on weekends, im not talking about times of races etc but the predictable smiley smiley responses to questions and the inoffesive demeanour of anyone! Its a sad thing that the only off the track thing i'm staggered by is Nick Heidfeld's full faced beard in this ultra corporate environment. How do BMW allow it I ask?! haha

I think all drivers want to win, they wouldn't be there otherwise, but what is needed is a driver who isn't afraid to say precisely what he thinks without the threat of censure from his team, sponsors and godknows who else.

Jacques Villeneuve come back, all is forgiven!!
  • I think its pretty good, race wise at the moment. Though there is no stand alone talent in F1 now, this has made it better as there are always 3-4 drivers capable of winning.
Next year the cars will be completely different so the field my open up even more.
  • i think that the root of the problem is made up of FIA,FOA..etc..Ecclestone and his personal circuits(which are boring and drivers can't overtake each other)and Mosley.i mean these people introduce rules which kill this amazing sport, they DO CARE about MONEY only.
  • I mean it's starting to be boring, needs a little enthusiasm ...
  • Formula 1 sponsors backing music?

    May be...

  • in formula one, sony do an advert on ITV before and after, because they are the sponsors. but there is a really good backing song. im not sure of the name of it. any help? 10 points to first answer, with the song title in it.
  • If you mean this one, then the music is "Can I Play with Madness" by Iron Maiden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPgC-W_V3...

If it's not that one, then I'm afraid I can't help.
  • How long are race car drivers continuously on the track?

    May be...

  • THEY HOLD IT, ALRIGHT? GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD, THEY DON'T HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR, THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS. THEY HOLD IT IN RACES 4 TO 5 HOURS LONG. OKAY?
  • They go in their suits if they really have to. Most don't, they just are focused so hard on the race that the urge doesn't hit them.
  • men dont have to go to the bathroom every 20 min. like women. Maybe thats why women only ask this stupid question
  • Hey, hey, hey, and hey again!! I've seen men ask this question, too!
And for the record, I only need to go every 3-4 hours, Mr. Stereotype, lol..

  • pee into a tube??
  • The driver really do have a system when they are in the car for a long period of time when having to go to the bathroom. Most use the same system used in hospitals when the person cannot get out of bed.
  • LIke in NASCAR? How long at a time are they racing? And seriously. . . how do they use the toilet? Surely they couldn't hold it THAT long.
  • If the race goes on for t,6,7 hrs its probably because of a rain delay so they get a chance to pee typicly the race lasts for 2,3,4 hrs wich anyone making that kind of moiney can do if worse comes to worse i'm sure hey just piss themselves, there are more imortant things going on in the race
  • How old are u 12 the average race is 4hours can't u hold it that long?? With all the sweating they do they don't need to go.They are not driving around in an air conditioned SUV sipping on a slurpee. They are in a burning hot racecar usually about 120-130 degrees inside.
  • Its funny how its always women that ask this question. And we're always stopping for them on the interstate every 45 min....go figure

micky88 you're a liar...think about it, they are sweating constantly, on the verge of dehydration if anything
  • Depeneds on how long the track is.
the bathroom question they dont have to use it really beacuse it is so hot in the car in in their suits its over 100 degress in their, so their bodys sweet off the water they drink insted of going to the bathroom thats their way of getting ride of it.
  • purple milk and cow nipples
  • Is Gordon Brown an Idiot ?

    May be...

  • Yes. Bring Tony back !
  • I don't know is he? He's your Prime Minister.
Try posting this in the politics section, kay?
We've got our own election to worry about.
  • Gordon who?
  • I give up is he?
  • Never heard of him-does he drive go-carts ?
  • Did someone punch you in the nose?

Are there any "collectors" on here today?

    May be...

  • your best be would be ebay if your selling a few.
  • You can get on NASCAR.com's superstore and they have an auction block on there and you can try that as well as ebay, there is also craigslist.
  • do you have any of Dale Earnhardt Jr. 81 KFC 1:24 car? if so, i'll take that one. drop me an email, myrealghostbusters@yahoo.com
  • You can try ebay, but if you have an ACTTION certified dealer near you, depending on the pieces, they will buy them from you also.
  • I am a huge collector, I have a "room" that has been seperatly insured for $40,000 and I have been considering selling a few items, It is all Dale Jr. things and I have listed 4 rare cars on ebay now but I am hoping to be able to make some $$$ quickly off of this, I have 3 girls who want lots of new school clothes and this would really help, we are struggling a bit with my husband in and out of the hospitol for the past year and he is now on disability at 29 yrs old so we are trying to make ends meet, any ideas on where and how I can sell fast?
  • Do you think Matt Kenseth will make the Chase this year?

    May be...

  • I don't think he will.
  • I think he will. 4 out of the 5 tracks coming up he was won at.

    Watkins Glen: No wins
    Michigan: 2 wins
    California: 2 wins
    Bristol: 2 wins
    Richmond: 1 win

He has 7 wins total out of the next 5 tracks they are going too. He has a great shot at making the chase. The only track I am concerned about is Watkins Glen, but the rest of them he should do great at.
  • Matt will make the Chase. I think Bowyer is going to be the odd man out this season. That shouldn't matter to his fans, though. He's basically got the Nationwide series championship in the bag.
  • Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson are the only 2 drivers who have made the Chase every year since it started. Matt Kenseth is 13th and in danger of missing the Chase for the first time.
  • Yes I think he will end up in the chase.
  • Yes
    himz will make it
  • i wouldnt worry about it, kenseth is a pretty talented driver. as long as nothing bad happens to him i think he will be fine.
  • Oh I think he will...maybe in the last race or so but he will get in there.
  • yes he will make the chase.
  • I said at the beginning of the season there was gonna be a big name out at the end of the chase. I think Kenseth will make it in just fine, though. I think Harvick's gonna be the odd man out.
  • Definitely
  • I think he will make the chase. If it wasn't for his tire blowing at the Brickyard he would be in the top 12 and wouldn't have to worry but that's wat killed him in the points. He has 5 races to make up the points and I think he will.
  • he will sneak in at the end i think. matt does well in the 2nd half of the season when the pressure is really on.
  • Dale Jr Honest Answers

    May be...

  • As long as Kyle is better than Jr, Kyle fans have bragging rights, so let them bash the Jr fans!!
  • i have no problem with Rowdy Busch I respect his talent, but what would Nascar be without rivalry's..I'm a die hard USC fan there will always be a rivalry there with USC & UCLA, its the same out here with the Dodgers and Angels, it there wasn't rivalry, man it would get dull, as long as there is no violence, rivalry is fun..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • be Honest do ya'll think think kyle an Dale Jr fans are ever gonna get

along even if Dale Jr wins the cup this year i mean its been about

what 4 months now come on let it go now

  • You know,I don,t hate or really dislike any driver out there....They all have rally big b**** to do what they do...So I really don,t care if the fans don,t get along with each other..I just want to see danica race!!!!!
  • Sure! There are several of his fans that I like...
It doesn't matter who wins, as long as it's fair/square. But I'd love to see Junior win, of course! He needs to be more aggressive, maybe. Anyway he will always be my favorite driver!
  • Simple rule of physics, In order to move forward, one must have some form of resistance.
Rivals is part of sports. No matter what.
I see a lot of bashing of people an drivers here. Heck, all we are, are Monday Morning Crew Chiefs.that's just part of the 'Game'.
I am a Kyle & Denny fan. I could really care less who cheers for Jr, Jimmy, Carol, Matt, along as they have cause and stands behind who they pull for. As long as the indivigial isnt an @ss, I could get along with them, and respect their views. Even if I dont like the ugly-mug of a driver they like.
But for a bandwagoner... No Respect!!!
If Jr ends up winning the Championship, and does it WITH OUT the help of NASCAR... Good for him. I would apploude him.
  • I don't think it's just kyle busch fans that don't want Jr to win the cup. I am a kenseth fan, and i will be upset if jr wins the cup.
  • well....i'm both a Kyle & Dale Jr. fan..
& i get along with other kyle and jr. fans as well.
but..i know some people just can't get along no matter what.
  • Shouldn't the question be "Will they get along when Kyle wins the championship?
  • i dont think so, but only because it's just fun to have a rivalry, even amoung fans.
  • I like a bit of rivalry now and again. I don't like the name calling of anyones fans or their drivers. It's rude and childish and makes the name caller look like a moron.

    I like healthy debate.

Now one of my best buddies on here and also through regular email is a die hard Jr. fan and I am a die hard Kyle fan and we get a long just great. AND others too are die hard fans of their drivers and we email and get along just fine.
  • Kyle's fans are hardheaded just like him and they can't and won't let it go until dale jr announces his retire or maybe if him and kyle become teammates like they did with gordon remember they used to throw s*** at him too til just recently
  • Some of the fans are getting alone now. There will always be those who don't though. Everybody is different.
  • You must associate with a bunch of superficial people. I know many hard core Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans that like Kyle Busch too. Because the people I know like all the drivers and don't get hurt feelings if their driver doesn't win. There's way more to NASCAR than just Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
  • I am a race fan first, a Jr fan second. When I was pulling for Bill every weekend I hated it when Sr beat him or on him but I learned to respect his style of driving. And in the end even loved the guy. I too cryed when he passed.

I didn't hate his fans even though some of them were a bit aggressive but yea know that was their chit. Just like today. I am Jr fan and although I have seen Kyle do some pretty lame **** things I do not hate him or his fans. Shoot dale has done a few lame **** things too like most every real driver out there. Being a race fan, like some of you, I can make all the right decisions from the stands or my couch. I wouldn't want the job of actually doing it. I nor some you (that are honest) haven't the skills or nerve let alone the real knowledge and experience. If we did we wouldn't be on here stirring the chit pot every day.....
  • Personally I am getting tired of the Kyle and the Dale Bashing. Having a little fun is one thing but man this is getting old. I can respect the fact that they have different driving styles and think about it Kyle does make the races exciting just from wondering what he is going to try next. But watch out for JR he is smarter than most people think. When it comes time for the chase i think you will see a whole noew JR. So I guess what I am trying to say is "Can't we all just get along."
  • Probably not. Busch grew up in cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Jr in Cassopolis, NC. Night and day. I'm sure they are cordial to each other, that's what professionals do to get along.
  • Maybe not all of them, but I've got no beef with any Jr. fan.
Some of my favorite people on here are die-hard members of Jr. Nation.
You being one of them, we've always been good, you know that.
  • i agree with srjrfan - i think the "rivalry" amongst the fans extends beyond what happened at richmond, and it can be a good thing to have. other sports have great rivalries, which really carry over to their fans. when the yankees and red sox play, when the the giants come to dodger stadium, or when ucla and usc square off, the rivalry amongst the fans always seems to add a little spice to the mix.

Does anyone know what time Qualifying is going to be for 3M Performance 400 at Michigan?

    May be...

  • Qualifying is scheduled for 3:40m on Friday August 15th at MIS.
  • I dont no thats next week this week is Watkins Glen.
  • hmm..not sure sorry..
    but..i'm going to it!
its gonna be my first time going to any of the events!
so hopefully soon i'll actually go to a race! lol.
  • go to nascar.com
  • Ross Kenseth

    May be...

  • i guess you can keep wondering
  • I dont no ive never seen him drive so couldnt tell you.
  • I am a Kenseth fan so I have been keeping up on it. Right now it is too early to tell. If you go to mattkenseth.com and click on the ask matt feature, one of the questions is about ross, and matt said that he is racing go karts and stuff right now. He didn't say anything about if ross would even be in nascar in the coming years. I hope that Ross comes into nascar one of these days. That would be cool.
  • I too thinks its too early to tell.Does anyone know who Ross's mom is? Its not Katie is it?
  • That would be kind of cool
  • I was wondering do you think that ross is going to be like his dad matt? Would Dewalt sign him?
  • Little too early to tell, don't you think? Could just be me?
  • Tricky, But IMPORTANT!!!

  • start with go carting, hit the dirt tracks later on and the rest will happen, follow your dream!
  • Find some small tracks around your house and start going to them. Get to know people, learn all you can about the sport. 13 is a good age to start making friends at the small tracks. Get to know everyone there from the drivers, pit crews, crowds & even the workers. Become a staple at the track, make sure everyone knows exactly what you want to do when you grow up. People will notice, make it happen.

Getting noticed and getting a ride are pretty darn hard to do BUT be persistent, you can do anything you set your mind to. Good Luck!
  • Race go-carts now. I know tires are like 1700 each. Im not sure about the cars. Race go carts though, get spotted by someone, and then money wont matter.
  • I am afraid it is going to take a lot more than having a next door neighbor who workl for M&M's and a sister's boyfriend who is the manager of a McDonalds as your connections...and going to a local track and riding go carts as you have stated in a previous question...

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

You have asked this question at least 3 times now under this account. When will the answers be good enough???

Also...remember...a few of us here remember what your other "questions" were prior to your account name change.
  • I am 13 years old and I want to become a GIRL NASCAR driver when I am older. I am very competive and not afriad to race with the guys. But how much is all the equipment I have to get when I am older probably when I am around 18 or 19 maybe even younger. Thanks for your help.
  • At my track you have to be at least 15 to race in most divisions. Legends cars start younger as do mini- sprints.
I get my equipment on-line because we don't have a lot of race shops here in town- I use these sites mostly-
    http://www.summitracing.com/
    https://www.rsracing.com/
    http://www.speedwaymotors.com/
I got my fire suit here-
    http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net...

Just look at the prices of things. For fun go to a short track website and print the rules for a division you are interested in. Then highlight all the equipment it says is mandatory and then highlight all the recommended equipment. Make a list of EVERYTHING you need and then go to these web sites to find out how much it costs. You need lots of little things too that you might forget. Foe example, you will want a quick disconnect on your steering wheel to make it easier to get in and out this coast about $20 i think. All the little odds and ends add up BUT they last forever unlike a fire suit or seatbelt so its mostly a one time cost. I broke down some prices for you earlyer so that should help but check out these sites i gave you they will really help you get a notion of what to expect price wise. Good Luck!
  • sorry to burst your bubble but chrissy wallace has the name money and experience and her chances are slim you pretty much ave a better shot at winning the lottery so start taking some cooking classes some sewing lessons and make a man proud.
  • It expensive to drive a race car no matter what series you'll just have to talk to some one who drives and ask them i no to run a Sprint Cup car and were talking just the car its like 2-3 million.
  • Try hanging out at your local track whenever you can. You can get to know people and learn a lot. Maybe even start Kart racing from there. Get yourself noticed and known, maybe somebody will give you a chance to race and prove yourself. Never give up on your dream, but don't forget to chase it either. It won't land in your lap if you just sit there. Good luck to you.

    go Jr.>>>>
  • 1. Run local tracks, and dominate them -- whether it's go karts, or late models, or another chassis (If your not very good on the local level, you probably won't be on a National one...nor would you be able to get a good ride). This would be the best time to find a decent sponsor to help you move up to the next level.

    2. Move up to a bigger series that travels around (If you can afford it...it would be best to look around for sponsors, and show them that you can win races, so they will sponsor you)

    3. Move up again, this time to the biggest series when you realize your competitive with the best...perhaps on dirt (Such as WoO Late Model Series)

    4. See if you can get a ride in the Hooters Pro Cup Series (asphalt)

    5. If your good in Hooters Pro Cup, you might be offered a ride in the Camping East or West series, and get a developmental contract with a top NASCAR team such as JGR or DEI. This is the best series to really get a good contract and prove your value to the teams.

    6. If you were one of the lucky few to get a developmental contract, you basically have a free ride to Nationwide when you turn 18...or when they feel it is right, if you continue to prove yourself

    7. Show that you have what it takes to run with the big boys in Nationwide, and then you should have no trouble getting into the Sprint Cup. The hard part is getting far enough to get into Nationwide. But if you were that lucky/skilled, a Sprint Cup ride is not to far.

    8. Good Luck! If you're good enough, and get noticed sooner, you will probably be able to skip a couple of those s teps and get started in NASCAR at a younger age.
  • welcome to the nation young lady and you should keep your good attitude up and it will come to you. you should get into go karting to start with if youre not already.
  • Please Help In NASCAR RACING?!!!

    May be...

  • No you need to get in a stock car and get seat time starting next season if possible. Some drivers come from sprints but if it was me I would stay in a stock car. If you want to be a NASCAR driver don't jump into a mod. get in a Late Model. Modifies are open wheel cars and technically not stock cars where as L.M. have fenders and although they share little resemblance they are stock cars. BUT you shouldn't start in a L.M. you need to get into a street or hobby stock. You want to be a racer and its not all about who you know if you can't drive you wont get a ride.
    Things you need:
Street Stock - $2,000-10,000 LEARN HOW TO YOUR OWN WORK!
    Fire Suit - $200-800
    Helmet - $100- 300
    Gloves, shoes - $60
    Car trailer - $1,000- 5,000
    Spare Tires - $300 - 700
    Tools - Infinite
Safety gear (Fire extinguisher, window net, tear offs, 5 point harness etc...) - $500+
Pit passes and other misc things $$$
If thy guy you know can pay for all this then well it will work. But if not you need more sponsors or a job.
If possible get you parents help and support. You will need someone to drive you to the track every Saturday April through October and someone to help you with your car when you need to work on it. Meanwhile GET GOOD GRADES AT SCHOOL. You can tell potential sponsors that you are dedicated and intelligent they will see you are hard working. Be professional, get a receipt ledger and keep track of who gives you what. Put everyones name on your car send thank yous. You can never have to many sponsors!!!
  • You have to keep working your way up through modifieds, and and then busch series..
In the beginning though you have to prove you have courage and determination, and the ability to win races......
  • you will also have to work on your communication skills as you will have to relay information to your crew chief because your question doesn't make sense.
  • I know I have asked similar questions before, but this one is a true and real question.
*I am a girl and I am not afraid to race with the guys and I have a few ways to get sponsored and I know someone who invented the fuel cell for racing so that's good. But my question is... Is that good enough for sponsoring because I have been training on go-carts and slick-carts and when I am older I am going to train at the Pocono Raceway. Thank-you so much
  • Oh, Yes indeed! Absolutely & Good Luck!
  • Is anyone else happy that Kyle Busch didn't make it off pit road?

    May be...

  • i felt sorry for him, but he's won so many races this year, he'll be fine, someone as good as him will win many more races before its all over. i call it like i see it, he does have HP advantage, and he is cocky.
  • That was awesome! Did you see that? 'Cuz that just happened!
  • kyle has so much talent in his pinkie finger he can wreck 2 times in one race !!! and my driver hasn't crashed in i don't no how many races (kasey kahne)
  • I'm neither happy nor sad. He is leading the points by 170+ and has 7 wins. Everyone has a bad day from time to time. I did not see any interviews by ESPN which carried the race or Speed on Victory Lane. There were too many good performances to interview everyone.
  • LOL I'm as happy about Kyle not getting off pit road as you will be when Kyle spanks your driver in the chase!
  • My thoughts are that I hope your favorite driver wrecks next week. Then I'll ask a question about that to make you happy. The only person I seen them interview was Carl Edwards, so quit trying to find things to pick at Kyle Busch whenever ESPN went to Sportcenter right after interviewing Carl. Or did you even watch the race?

You are probably happy because Kyle has more talent in his pinky finger than your driver does in his whole body and you know bad luck is the only way he would finish ahead of him
  • My thoughts are that you don't know Kyle as well as you think you do.
And no, I wasn't happy. Poor kid, rolled the dice and lost the gamble, happens to the best of em' occasionally..
  • Did anyone end up interviewing him or did he decline? I'm sure he would have threw a fit, since he didn't get his way and get a good finish. What are your thoughts?
  • YOU'RE GIVING KYLE MORE FAME. GLAD TO KNOW YOU CARE ABOUT HIM SO MUCH!!!! ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT A FAN????? LOL!!!
  • No I am not happy. I think it was unfortunate for him. Then to get a pass thru penalty on top of that. Just adding insult to injury. I didn'tt see an interview after the race with Kyle.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • I've used the answer once already, but it applies here too. No, I'm not happy or sad. However, I'd rather see a driver get or lose positions because of driving instead of running out gas, being caught up in a wreck or having a bird or bug hit his car.
  • Frankly, yes I was, I'm tired of watching him, it makes it boring and can't really say I don't like him but can't really say I like him either. Was nice to see someone else win.
  • I didn't know he didn't make it off pit road I knew he couldn't get it started back up but I thought he did at the end. That is a shame he along with Junior were going to have some good finishes today but they ran out of gas. Just not they're day.
  • I didn't see the end but I don't understand to an extent why everyone in the world wants him to suffer. He has cleaned up his act but yes I know he messed up but he doesn't deserve complete and utter hate. He has a skill with race cars if you watch every week. Something that hasn't been shown in a while. Saving a loose car that is almost unsaveable?
  • he did no interviews. and i wonder, did you used to get pleasure out of salting snails and watching them foam? to hear someone get so much pleasure from the misfortunes of others is a sad commentary on the sport. a true fan wants his favorite driver to beat the best at their best. carl edwards put it perfectly when he talked of his disappointment when the #18 took a crap at the all-star race - he wanted to race with kyle, not see him pull into the garage.

and no, kyle probably wasn't happy, but his team's job over the next five weeks is to take chances - either by experimenting with things that might help them in the chase or by doing something "unusual" to get a win that they might not have done if he was sitting in 10th and worrying about getting into the chase. they did interview steve addington and he, like tony jr. and chad knaus were all perplexed by why they actually ran short on fuel. all of them thought they had enough. and addington also said that the 18 team, like the 99 and the 48 are trying new things - preparing for the chase. and whatever they were trying seemed to be working pretty well considering that kyle moved from 27th starting place to fourth and closing when he ran out of gas...
  • Doesn't matter to me. Even if he made it off pit road the race would still have been over before he could have gained any positions.
  • It's ok, he still has the points lead...
  • How many were happy to see Kyle B have issues during todays race??

    May be...

  • When top drivers have "issues" it many times puts them out of the race and that makes that race a little less exciting to watch. Too bad that you aren't a team player because those races where Kyle won must have really grated on you.
  • Kyle was kicking @$$ there toward the end after struggling all race. I think he'll go 2/2 at the road course races this season with a win at the Glen next week. But, no I wasn't happy. Would you be happy if Tony Stewart had issues beyond his control that took him out of contention? Same here. It's just not that big of a deal though since Kyle has a big lead and really just needs wins, so whether he finished 4th or 40th it won't mean a whole lot going into the chase unless he can get more wins to increase the bonus points he will have.
  • Not me. I thought it kind of sucked.
  • obviously not me, but in reality it makes little to no difference. had he finished fourth that wouldn't have helped him once the chase points reset, and it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that he's not going to make the chase. he's still got a 558 point lead over 13th, so he could lose 100 points to all twelve drivers behind him and still make the chase... anything other than a win or five 35th place finishes in a row is irrelevant.

what did make me unhappy was kurt busch running out of gas. i do believe any chance at a chase run for the other busch brother is now gone. at 377 points out of 12th, the fat lady has begun warming up her vocal cords...

and horror of horrors, my "weeks without a win" counter is now set to "2." i still don't even know if my counter has a "5" on it as i haven't had to use it yet this year. glad he took a chance, sorry to see it didn't pay off. now it's off to the glen.
    ;-)
  • Oh I was fo sho
  • I am not that thrilled what happened to Busch. It happens. Junior did make up alot of points, but Junior himself ran out of gas. Could of have a top 5 today. Fuel Fuel Fuel. Got to have it to then end.
  • I agree with Heidi.

    :)
    Go Dale Jr.!!!
    JUNIOR NATION!!!
  • I was disappointed and sad I really wanted him to pull up and beat all of them and win the Pocono Raceway. But It wasn't his fault it was the pit crews fault from not keeping track on how much fuel he has. Good LUCK though Kyle.

  • Starting as far back as he did, coming all the way to 4th, only to run out of gas so close to the finish. Man, my heart goes out to the kid.
I'm proud of him, regardless. He ran a great race, and never gave up.

Not like he's the only one that lost the fuel strategy, he just took the hardest hit is all.

Good Job none the less Rowdy!!
  • At least a Chevy didn't win, man that sucks for them... Oh yeah, #18 still has the points lead... Dale Jr. should have tried harder...
  • I was
  • Not happy, but on this Q&A I predicted two weeks ago he was going to begin having some bad luck. He hasn't had any up until know, they all go through trouble.
It's great he won a few races-they don't count until the final ten. I think he peaked at the wrong time.
  • I hate to see any driver have problems and put them out of contention, but even with his issues..Kyle still leads the points and Jr is still 2nd..

Was so happy for Harvick who got a 4th place finish after the 1st lap wreck caused by Nemechek,,what a comeback..wtg

Congrats to Carl..winner and i did not see that coming..lol, thought the 8,11 or 48 would get the win
  • For a minute I was because Dale Jr gained in points but I really felt bad for him after it happened. He struggled with his car all day and actually made an impressive run to get back up around the top 5 or 10, but then ran out of gas.

    That's just part of racing.
  • Not happy to see anyone having trouble. Even if it is Kyle. Congrats to Flipper for today!

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • wat u talking abot he had no problems with his car ooo u must be talking about his talent ya i was really happy to see him not take anyone out the only resond he was in the top ten was strategy
  • well, it was disappointing for me, but carl edwards winning made it all better!

    CONGRATS CARL!!!
  • You must be a Dale Jr fan. I am not happy when anyone has problems. All drivers are pros and they deserve to win. The only drivers I want to have a bad day are clint bowyer and kevin harvick. I don't dislike them, but I need Matt back in the top 12. That is the only time I wish bad luck on somebody. Jr is solidly in the points, and so is Kyle, so it doesn't matter if they have bad races or not. It won't change a thing.
  • Not me. I hate it for him. He must have been squirming in his car all day. Obviously he did not have a 10 place car but drove his tail off to keep it there and then in the end to run out of fuel.

Remember race fans, races are not only won on race fuel milage startegies but lost as well...
  • ME THATS FOR DANG SURE!!!!!! AND I'M SURE ALL OF JUNIOR NATION WAS TOO!!!!!!!
  • Hey, YOU CAN'T WIN EM ALL.
  • I think it is always disappointing to any driver when they have a far better day then what the stats. at the end of the day will show.

With that being said, no, I do not mind seeing him finish in 36th place.
  • it did'nt hurt kyle none
making up points means nothing to jr now
he needs a win for ten
  • I'm ecstatic about it. =) It's about time he gets what he deserves for being so cocky.
  • No I would rather my driver beat him on the track rather than relying on him running out of fuel to finish ahead of him. But Kyle Busch is so talented that other drivers have to rely on him having issues to beat him.
  • I was clapping and cheering until I saw that my favorite driver was back there with him....oh 43 why? why!!!
  • why would i be happy a driver has issues? doesn't that tie up the race?
  • You have no idea how happy the world is for him running out of fuel.
  • 3.8.08

How does the NASCAR sprint cup series scoring work?

    May be...

  • the table on the nascar.com page below shows how points are awarded for each race for 2008. first place receives 185 points, second receives 170, third receives 165, ... , 43rd receives 34 points. five bonus points are also awarded for leading a lap and another five bonus points are awarded to the driver who leads the most laps. thus, first place generally receives 190 or 195 points (as that driver must lead at least one lap, and may lead the most). the least a driver in the race can receive is 34 for last place.

    http://www.nascar.com/news/features/poin...
  • I never understand how NASCAR does scoring work. Dale E.Jr. was in 12th place. He made $83,500. However Kyle Busch was in 36th place. He made $81,600. Report Abuse
  • What you all think of Billy Ray Cyrus new song for Nascar??

    May be...

  • It was cool!!!!I like the movie were Cheryl Crowe sang it...It had the King and his wife in it!!!
  • its alright
  • I liked it. ANd you are right it does blend in to Nascar.
  • Its okay..I like it..Billy Ray puts more country into it..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • It's a great song. I honestly like both versions of it, but prefer the country side of it a little more. My kids of course like the version from the movie Cars better.
  • oops..thanks..spell checker not working..lol Report Abuse
  • Real Gone is the name, i personally like it..what you think??
  • No thanks.
  • i think its a kewl song i don't care who sang it first but either way its a good song
  • his daughter revived his carrer
  • Just like miley cyrus. I hate miley she is annoying. Billy ray cyrus is also annoying.
  • Not really, I don't like country music. They should've gone with old school rock.
  • E X C E L L E N T
  • Its not his song, Sheryl Crow Sang it first on the movie Cars. But yes I have to say that I like it too! =)
  • It was alright,
  • I like it! Billy Ray's version seems a little more "genuine country" and NASCAR still has a country flair to it.
That said, I'd have to agree I like both versions.
  • didnt cheryl crow do the same song for PIXAR's CARS?
  • When Junya gives his TV interviews Y does it seem like his brain is playing Sony Playstion

    May be...

  • What's a Sony Playstation? Oh, i'm sorry. I keep forgetting, it's one of those kids games. I forgot there's minors in here. When I was in grade school we used to build go-carts. I guess you kids are just lazy these days. You should ditch the avatar. Your giving Barack Osama a bad image. My answer to your question is "No"
  • Proper name is Dale Earnhardt Jr, not junya..why you hate so much?
Would love to know this and why always JR???

For your answer-NOPE, he is a thinking man , a working man, a REAL MAN!
  • because it is? I know he doesnt like to give interviews (LOL) but last weekend he kept rolling his eyes when the reporters were talking to him.

That interview my sister asked me if I thought Jr was drunk he was slurring so bad and making no sense what so ever.
  • He's dumb. See below for more:

  • it dont to me
  • mellow dude i guess

  • I could answer, only thing is , I dont know JUNYA.
  • If Hamilton has not been driving the fastest car would he be so successful

    May be...

  • Kovalainen is in his 1st season in a McClaren. Besides he's 2nd on the grid today and a cigarette paper behind his team mate timewise.
  • Many had criticized Hamilton saying he has an unfair advantage of driving the fastest car than giving him the due credit for his confidence and skills. Kovalainen is driving the same car too, but why isn't he faring better than Massa or Hamiton?
  • yes
  • He won the British GP by over 1 minute. No car currently on the tracks will give you that much of a lead without you being an ace driver.

A fast car isn't worth anything if you don't know how to drive it properly.
  • It has always been the case in motor racing that the best drivers end up driving for the best teams.
Of course he would not have been as successful in a slower car.
That's why he wants to drive for a top team, that's why everybody wants to drive for a top team, because they're looking for success and they need a top car and team to do that.
Don't listen to people saying he only looks good because he drives a McLaren.
Those people couldn't make out an F1 talent out of a bunch of pensioneers.
It's like the performances of the drivers we see on the track are absolutely meaningless and it's only the car and nothing else.
  • How do u all feel about mark martin coming to hendricks motorsports

    May be...

  • Im so disappointed in HMS right now. Seems they will do anything for a dollar. Mark Martin will be popular and make money in advertising but he wont win on the track. Its like dejavu all over again.
  • I love Jack Roush, and I hated to see Mark leave him. When Mark, my driver, "retired" I chose another driver- Carl Edwards. Then he didn't retire, did a partial season- back on again.

Only he knows how he feels, how if the fire still burns, the reflexes are still there, the track sense still working. Knowing Hendrick, he wouldn't take any chances and/or he wanted a living legend. I hate to see Casey get kicked to the curb, but this stuff happens. Mark just isn't "HMS" material, ya know? If he starts wearing JJ hair I'll scream.

I wish him all the luck in the world, he's class all the way. And I wish him that elusive championship.
  • I hope that Mark Martin finally makes a mark in Nascar racing. I mean that hes been around for a long time. He deserves a shot at the Championship no matter what happens this up coming season. When Mark Martin retired from racing I was heart broken. I just have a gut feeling that he still has alot of racing left in his blood. That is why he wanted another chance at winning the Championship.
  • I'm ok with it. Rick Hendricks is a great guy and this will give him an all start team. I want to see Mark winning races again and should be able to with HMS.
  • NOOOO DONT GO TO THE DARK SIDE!
    haha jk
    it's all good
  • good move
  • I think that It's cool for him to fill in for a year until Brad K is ready.
  • I understand why he wants to do it. But I hope he's not too disappointed next year. Don't see him winning the championship.
    I know he'll be everyone's sentimental favorite...but realistically I don't see it happening.
  • I think getting away from Theresa E. will be just what the doctor ordered for mark. DEI is getting better but not quite there. Mark is an established driver who deserves the best equiptment money can buy.
  • i think hes gonna be very good we have to wait an see
  • I like it because Mark could finally get a championship before he retires one day!
  • its a waste of a ride on the old timer he wont do anything in it
  • Rick is spreding his money out to thin, thats why Jeff as zero wins and
Jimmy has two, Jr, one (which was givin to him by nascar)
How many wins did HMS have this time last season???
I like Mark Martin, he is a class act on and off the track. I just wish he would have stayed with Roush. But, hey, it is what he wants.
I se him making the Chase next season, but not winning it.
  • It is the smartest move he has ever made, he is a good driver and with this team, I think he will them all how to do it.

Jr and Mark have been friends ever since Jr hit Nascar, and Dale Sr. and Mark were friends as well through the years.

Mark is doing the right thing by leaving DEI, he does not like the politics there......

he will do great HMS, and Rick is lucky to get him.

watch for this team in 2009,m I think they will dominate the running for the Cup of 2009.

  • Mark used to be my main man @Roush!. He's very well deserving of a championship
  • Well. He's a veteran racer. Wish that he won a Championship in his years racing. Going to Hendrick's may be the start of circling the drain. Rick has never been known to throw much money into the #5 car. I don't see that changing. For Mark's sake I hope that it does. I just don't see him doing any better in it than Casey has or at most he will be as good as Kyle was in it. No championship in 09 I am afraid.
  • just want to really know how everyone feels on this
  • I personally don't like the idea. I am a roush fan, and i used to like Mark Martin when he was with Roush, but now he is a trader and I don't like him anymore. He finished 2nd in the points 6 times, which is not bad, and he thinks he can do better at HMS, which I hope he don't.
  • I think it's great!
  • I think Mark has been around long enough that He can do what He wants to do but I am happy that a veteran like Him is coming to HMS
  • i like it
  • Mark Martins move to Hendrick Motorsports does not evoke emotions. Sorry.
  •
