Can car manufacturers put their brand name on the COT? who puts engines in the COT?

May be...

  • Manufacturers are providing the engines & parts, the individual teams put them together.

The COT - the car itself is generic. But they put the Chevy, Ford, Dodge, or Toyota logo on the front depending on what engine is under the hood.
  • Yeah, it's a way to get publicity for there company. The Car manufactures give them the engine, but the parts are the teams problem.
  • Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge provide engine blocks and bare cylinder heads. Toyota's american racing arm TRD provides complete engines.

The cars have slightly different front noses depending on the manufacturer. Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge do not build any cars. Toyota (TRD) has built some complete cars.
  • What do you think of this from www.jayski.com?

    May be...

  • I applaud it too. If Nascar was easy everyone in world would be doing it. It doesn't matter how much the drivers cry about the new car they are not going to change it just because they are crying. This car is new and before you know it the teams will have it worked out and it will get better. In my opinion the races are getting better from where I see it. The drivers are going to have to learn that just because they gripe about it all the time doesn't mean nascar will change anything especially after Nascar has said repeatedly that they were not going to change anything on this car this year.
  • NASCAR Calls mandatory meeting for all Cup drivers Friday: NASCAR called a mandatory meeting for Sprint Cup drivers and owners before Friday's practice at Michigan International Speedway in which president Mike Helton encouraged everyone to keep the fans first. NASCAR officials and drivers both agreed this simply was a reminder that during these tough economic times when fans are paying $4 a gallon for gas to travel to tracks that drivers should be more positive about the sport. In other words stop complaining about the new car that has become a target for everything that is wrong in NASCAR's premier series, from creating boring races to being so hot that the drivers are at risk. "My interpretation was that the drivers should be thankful for the position they're in and should be more positive in where this car is going to be in a year or two," Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. Jeff Burton agreed. "In today's conversation you could have heard whatever you wanted to hear," he said. "I bet if you asked every driver what they heard they would have said something different. What I heard was things aren't bad. Let's don't forget we can make things better."
NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said this so-called "Come to Jesus" was a reminder of chairman Brian France's preseason back-to-basics message. That the timing was a few days after the lawsuit, he added, was merely coincidental and that the lawsuit wasn't discussed. "We remind them if it weren't for the fans we wouldn't be here," he said. "The fans are paying over $4 a gallon for gasoline. [We told them] to keep the fans in mind when you're talking, to show your appreciation to the fans. Without them this wouldn't be like it is." The criticism reached an all-time high last weekend at Pocono. Denny Hamlin and several others implied the car was much hotter than the older car and possibly put drivers at risk. Series director John Darby understands. He said there are a lot of things available to keep the cars cooler "that's not being used." He reiterated that NASCAR has no plan to change the car until it's been through an entire season.(in part from ESPN.com)(6-14-2008)
  • I agree with NASCAR. Driving in the Cup series is a privilege not a right. Its not good for the sport when the drivers continually rant and rave. As far as the drivers complaining about heat all I can say is Boo hoo! Nascar is a sport not an activity.
  • Glad to hear it Tom !!
As far as Denny Hamlin?? I'm sure Coach Gibbs can get him a nice, cooler position on Sunday afternoon's, in the [NFL]???
  • I'm glad NASCAR held the meeting to remind drivers to "keep the fans first" even if it really means "quit your crying". The crews will figure out the new car soon enough and we as fans just need to have a little patience.
  • The NASCAR dictatorship strikes again. It is quite often that the drivers are reminded that they need NASCAR more than NASCAR needs them. This is just another case of the same thing.

But they put some icing on it to make it taste better.
  • I think they should have the right to voice their opinions, it's a free country afterall, I answered a question similar to this last night, and after sleeping on it, I can see the other side of the coin a little better, I still believe that they have the right to voice their opinions, but I really think it should be done behind closed doors, the drivers work for their sponsors, their manufacturers, etc.. they are the employees, in any other business, if an employee went around griping about their employers the way that some of them do, they'd be out of a job. So, shut up and drive and take up your issues with the people who you're having them with, I have nothing to do with their tires, their air conditioning, or any of that, I just want to watch them race..
  • I'm not sure what to think about this. I see NASCAR's point. Fans are paying A LOT to be there. However, I also want to hear the driver's true opinion about things. Hmmm, my answer sounds wishy washy.
  • That probably stems from Thursday night's debacle at Macon Speedway's "Night of NASCAR Stars." It was really hyped that Rusty Wallace and the rest of the Wallace brothers were going to be there. As soon as Rusty finished with his ESPN duties, he disappeared, not to be seen again at the track for the rest of the evening. I, for one, am glad he wasn't the only draw, because I would have been really disappointed. As far as the rest of the drivers there...good job!! Great racing!! The Reuitman's were just awesome, and as down-to-earth as you can get!!
  • It's crap. NASCAR is trying to keep everyone as sheep, followers. It's bad enough when they interview drivers within thirty seconds after driving 500 miles at 200 mph, and scolding them for using "bad" words.
    This isn't junior high school.
  • I understand it looking at it from nascar's perspective. But as a fan, I would like to know I'm hearing what the drivers REALLY think. So no, I dont like it even though I understand it.
  • Do you think rosbif can get 1000 best answers in the F1 section?

    May be...

  • 1000 best answers has been done by lots of people in other sections. It's going to take an awfully long time to do if I keep answering at a rate of about 3 questions a day though...
  • If everyone keeps asking questions then I reckon by around september 2010 Rosbif will be into 4 figures!
  • Who knows... haha i'm bored too.
  • its kinda of a random question.

    i think he can :)!
  • In all probability he will, his knowledge of F1 is huge.
  • No i think not.
  • well I've been here for a year and a bit and in that time I've seen him race to over the 500 hes got now. this time next year I reckon he will be. the only time I got really close was when he was on holiday for a month last year lol.
Its great he takes the time to really research his answers, they are defiantly worth reading. He's wasted on here, he should be writing reference books for us or commentating on the races for the BBC:)
  • Dale Jr Car Question?

    May be...

  • i like the AMP look much better,
but yes it does seem he runs better in the National Guard car.
i really hope he gets a win soon.. he needs it!
    :]
  • he sittin 3rd in point he got some good luck
  • Is It Just Me Or Do It seem. Like JR runs better when hes in the National Guard Car Vs The Amp Car ? like if you look at it

    like this.

At Richmond when he was leading with 5 to go and had the car to beat until

kyle wrecked him he was in the National Guard Car.

The Coke Cola 600 he had a very very strong car until he blew

a tire we all know he had that race won but yet again he was

    driving the National Guard car
  • He has his two worst finishes of the season in the Amp car (40th and 35th) But the other 4 races he ran in that car were all top 10's.
I don't know on this one Go 88, two bad races out of six isn't really enough to convince me, I'm gonna have to watch and see if your theory holds water or not.
When your boy runs the Amp car, think happy thoughts, man!
  • Yes it does seem that way, maybe you and I should go to the track and fix the car that he doesn't do so good in, so he will have to drive the good one all the time, what ya say, well, maybe we should just wish he would the same car all the time, we may end up in a jail with no TV and I could not handle jail time without Nascar, ha ha

Maybe we should all start emailing and see if he gets them and see if he will just drive one car, oh well wishful thinking, he has to have a backup..

GO JR #88, he will win again, just wait, his time is coming.
  • unfortunately, the Bud car does the
best WITHOUT jr driving it. pity.
  • True, he does seem to do much better in the NG. I say they should just dump the AMP car and see what happens. Couldn't hurt, Right?
  • It's just coincidental
  • Yep, its the truth, I've noticed it, and I'm always happier when he is in the National Guard car, until he wins in the Amp car,I'm convinced the National Guard is the best so far.. A bunch of us were talking about this last week.. His National Guard Car in Daytona is going to be a real cool Camo Green, its awesome, hopefully that green color doesn't hamper things.. He needs to do his Amp car in more colors than green, I think the Red Overdrive Amp with the black, red & silver would be hot.....but, yes another die cast to buy..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • It does seem that way. I'm kool with that, I like the paint job better than the "green" amp car. I just don't like the green, besides that, it's bad luck on a race car!

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Actually I've never noticed "Go 88" but I really do like Jrs color combos. His cars look great. He'll get a win soon.
  • just a paint job buddy
    but if it helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • maybe he subconsiously wants to do better for our military. He may believe if he doesn't do well he let them down somehow . Whether he realizes the reason or not, he just races better in his NG car.
  • not hatin' here, but by that logic it sounds like he has more bad luck in the national guard car...

i like both cars and contrary to popular opinion i like junior too. i just wish he would hurry up and win in either of them and get this streak over with already... seriously.

    ;-)
  • hmm never thought of that but it does sorta seem that way good point
  • What would be the greatest?

    May be...

  • Tell Robbie to come back!
    lolz
  • Pick your brothers brain at all cost!
  • look for a better team or different manufacture
  • Make sure Dale Jr. doesn't WINe.
  • I would tell Jr. to just drive his own race and maybe be a little more agressive.

    Go Jr.>>>>>
  • Be more detailed when telling your team what your car is doing. Oh, and STOP trying to be the crew chief and the driver!!!
    (Kasey)
  • Try drinking some of that AMP during the race, so that you're not so worn-out at the end!!!
  • Focus, Drive Hard, Let it rip
  • stay consistant you will win eventually
  • I would say to Rowdy
.be patient...be cool...the Championship is yours if you are. Don't let the boo's get you down...remember when you are getting booed you are also bringing in the cash plus that many more points for the lead. And keep your eye on Dale Jr. he's desperate for a win and starving for that Cup!!
  • Shake-n-Bake!
  • Nothing. Its not my place to give advice to a guy thats won just about everything under the sun. Im just a fan. "Smokes" the pro. Do what yah do man and I'll sit back and watch.
  • advice you can think of to give to your favorite nascar driver?

*other than win, that's just too obvious*
  • If you have to go to the bathroom, hold it!
  • I would have to say to Jr to not worry about what others think and to leave the past behind him and that he's been doing great so keep up the good work and to stop putting so much pressure on himself!!
  • I would tell Bobby LaBonte to leave Petty Enterprise and find a better team because I know he has it in him to win more and Petty is not providing that chance for him!
  • 13.6.08

    Who has NASCAR 09?

    May be...

  • If they have it then what is their rep? Mine is 3914 so far. I am about to get Kroger as my sponsor or Craftsman. Which one should I chose? Also give my your rep if you have one. Thanks
  • Craftsman sounds better.

No I don't have it yet...I always get it the year it features...so recently I just got 08 and now I'm playing that...next yr I get 09!

    lol.

    = )
  • im gettin it today like its 9:45am now i just got in from work so im prob going lay down for a bit then get up an go buy it
  • picked it up yesterday at Best Buy, with Elliot sadler on the cover instead of Gordon. Def a improvemnet from past 2 years . Taking me a bit to get the handle of the game since its the first one I bought since 05. Just started so my rep is only at 1500
  • I got it the very first day! Woo-Hoo!
  • I'm going to get it today ( 6-13-08 ) or tomorrow ( 6-14-08 ) ! I might get it today because my dad's girlfriend is going to Best Buy with 2 of her 3 daugthers and they should have NASCAR 09 there ( I want to get it from Best Buy because they have a exclusive Best Buy ONLY Elliott Sadler cover on the front of the game )! If I don't get it today, i'm going to go get it tomorrow at Best Buy with my dad.
  • Who is the main troll on the Formula one section?

    May be...

  • I'm not sure if he is actually a troll, but boy is he stupid. He thinks I'm a bloke.
To the answerer above, Daniel Craig in disguise? I see by the 'mom' insult you're not a Brit. would you like a nice cup of tea? it helps with the stress of life don't you know.
Oops, now I feel silly. I've just seen 'your mom'. apologies to the answerer above. That is a troll, he/she/it is trolling in NASCAR too. Once again, apologies to above
  • I would say Daniel Craig. He asked questions just to get a rise out of people, which is trolling. I think he is a sad little boy who is jealous of the British people and our resolve. he just doesn't realise how stupid he looks.
  • Now I hope you don't think this is me trolling, but I think whoever holds the account "ur mom" would seem to be the biggest troll. Just my personal opinion, you understand, I've no allegiance or preference.
  • Well he can't be that good a troll to be a level 3. most trolls get deleted before level 2. mind you his questions and answers are private so perhaps he is learning! I just think he's lonely with no friends in the real world, as are the others. I've always said there is more than one troll here though...........
  • Daniel Craig might not be pro-McLaren, pro-Hamilton or pro England, but he does ask interesting questions which give people a chance to write a decent answer. There are others who are a lot more offensive imho.

Also, a couple of points gamers that I haven't managed to have removed yet are:

    Mearn http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_...
    The Sam http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_...
    d_leoncavallo http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_...

Mearn and The Sam only answer Qs that they have posted themselves, but d_leoncavallo has around 15 different accounts to vote for himself as best answer...if he ever answers one of your Qs, make sure you pick a best answer because otherwise he'll get it in voting.
  • I think you follow your teams too blind!
  • Lewis Rocks, I have nothing to do with Daniel Craig.

I dont deny that I am not all that fond of Hamilton, but I dont go around giving TDs.
  • Yep, he's the one thumbs downing all the McLaren fans too. I think he is Marinello in disguise
  • Breaking Dale Jr News?

    May be...

  • Right move by Petty - probably 2-3 years...but then again look what Gibbs is doing the first year with Toyota.
  • Learn spelling, grammar and a little punctuation my friend. You're making yourself look stupid!!!!
  • Just Announced Me GO 88 dale jr & lilAudrey will be getting married at daytona in July J/K everybody i been a little to quite so i thought a make up a random question to see what people think

but back to nascar news Do You Think Richard Petty made the right move and if so how long will it take for them to turn it around an start winning me i hope very soon cause ima fan of R petty the king
  • Funny, JR will never marry per him, he said once on Speed Week, he would never put a woman through the agony of watching him race, due to his fathers death,...he may sooner or later, but right now is the least of his concerns...

and sorry but with all the backing and no matter what engines they use, I dont think the Pettys have it there to run and win....
  • Awwwwwww, our little girl... sniff.....(cries a tear)

Petty has needed to get back in the game for years. Richard said it himself that they got behind and needed an investor to dump $$$ for R&D.

I personally would have liked it if they went public with stocks for us race fans to buy. I would have put up a good chunk.

But for now, I gotta go get a wedding gift. What size do you think LilAudrey wears????
  • I think he did, especially for the money that the company is going to put up for engineering and making better motors and cars. Signing Bobby Labonte for another 4 yrs was a good move on their part also. Plus it stays Petty Enterprises.
  • Yeah! I agree!
And you know what? Junior's gonna win Sunday!!!

    Go

    J
    U
    N
    I
    O
    R
    !
    !
  • It was the right move, the Petty's haven't won a race in years and were on the verge of losing Bobby Labonte. The new owner needs to put someone other than Kyle Petty in the 45. I wish them luck.
  • Yes i think Richard made the right move
    P.S. >> Best song ever http://youtube.com/watch?v=3OOJaUo0cyE&f...
  • First of all... Congrads to you and lilAudrey !! Don't you 2 let Teresa E. have anything to do, with the wedding arrangements ?? She'll ruin everything !!! lmao
The King?? Yeah !! I think THAT... was a wise move !!
It'll take awhile for them? It don't take but a season these days, to fall behind !! So?
  • Yes, Petty made the right decision, hopefully we can see some wins for Petty Enterprises, and get Bobby Labonte back in victory lane a few more times, even Kyle..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Is kyle busch in nationwide series in nascar 09?

    May be...

  • and who is driving the 20 car
  • no, there are no Joe Gibbs nationwide cars in it actually and he is not in the trucks either
  • i dont know i plan on getting my copy of nascar 2009 tomarrow so KYLE BUSCH watch out
  • 12.6.08

If Hendrick Motorsports were to release Casey Mears who would be best to replace him ?

    May be...

  • Kyle Busch - no wait - Hendrick blew that one - BIG TIME!

    How 'bout Clint Bowyer?
  • kasey
  • Got two in my mind that could go.
#1-Tony,wants to be in a chevy and whats a better chevy.
#2-Ryan Newman, sponsorshi[p problems for the 12 team could send him looking.
  • I would definitely have to say Smoke. That would be awesome team.
  • You know what, I think David Reagan is a good choice
This guy appreciates any type of good finish
What's better, he always puts on a smile no matter where he finishes
I think this guy has potential
He can be better than Mears
They should try somehow to get him there
    OR
    Tony Stewart
We all should be familiar with this guy
Not only that, he's thinking of moving from JGR
One of NASCAR's greatest you have there
Then Hendrick Motorsports will truly be a unity
But were not talking about that
Were talking about best choice and I think Stewart is a good choice
    OR
    Some other NEW guys
This maybe a little bit in the future but some can include McDowell or Logano
    They sound longshots, right?
But they can have talents that Hendrick Motorsports can bring about
They're good choices for later, but for now Reagan and Stewart are good choices
  • Greg Biffle would finally become a championship contender in a Hendrick car.
  • i agree
    smoke
  • Martin Truex would make a good replacement, thats IF Casey gets the boot or steps away.
  • well Tony Stewart by far would be the best canadite for Hendricks........ but i can also see Carl Edwards going thereas well......the only problem is i think Tony will drive for Dale in 2010..... since Dale is moving his nationwide series to cup in 2010....!
  • Going with the other fellas and say Smoke. Wouldn't that be a heck of a lineup....
  • I don't know if Hendrick is ready to pull the trigger on Mears yet. Stewart will Not be the replacement, he's an odds on favorite to go to Haas/CNC Racing as a leveraged partner/owner/driver courtesy of GM and be a Hendrick satellite team.
  • that landon cassil dude
  • Sure would like to see Tony with Hendrick's.
What a line up that would be
  • you
  • Tony Stewart
  • Tony Stewart
    or
    Carl Edwards

    then HMS would completely dominate!!
  • GREG BIFFLE
  • Yes I think Casey is a good driver and a great guy, but with his luck and the pressure of being on the same team as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jr. Rick likes Casey, so I doubt he will release him..But I'd like to see Smoke or Brad Keselowski.. I want Smoke back in a Chevy, but I can't see Rick bringing another Big Gun.. I would definitely say Brad for sure, this kid has learned a lot at Jr Motorsports..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Morgan Shepherd or Stanton Barrett
  • I like Casey and I think he is a good driver,he just needs better luck !!!!
  • Yo I think it should be smoke DOG!!!!!!!!
  • Brad Keselowski

Note that I also find it interesting that some HMS fans/Shrub haters would say "smoke" yet his personality wether it be cocky or aggressiveness is about 20 times more volatile then Kyle Busch. Hypocrisy at its finest.
  • Brad Keselowski

I don't want to see Casey go, but if he did, I'd like to see Brad come in.
  • To be honest with you, since I work in a certain capacity for Hendrick Motorsports, I think they would be best served by having no none replace Casey mears. I think we should focus our efforts on getting Dale JR's team to victory lane on a regular basis and get Jeff one more championship before he retires, which really could be 2010. I think we've spread ourselves too thinly at the shop and by getting rid of Casey's team, we could rotate more guys into sprcific areas and give them more tome off. These men are pushed to the limits during the racing season and their families suffer. If I HAD TO CHOOSE THOUGH, I think we should add Kevin Harvick who is on thin ice at Childress Racing. He's tough, a hard charger, and he wants to win.
  • Tony Stewart
  • Monster Jam fans!!!!!?

    May be...

  • Drink beer. Enjoy the evening and watch some trucks with serious horsepower. I go to the Superbowl of Motorsports here in Tampa every year. Its a good time. They usually have bike stunts and ATV races as well. YOu can go early and walk through the pits to see them close up if you want but the pits usually closes about an hour prior to the show.
  • Watch Grave Digger dominate the competition and stand on your feet in a crowd of 20 something thousand people. You get too see big jumps, awesome trucks, great racing and meet a lot of great people. Sounds like an exciting night for you! If you have never watched it on TV they have Monster Jam like every night on the SPEED Channel, and you will be able to see what it is like from the TV. I can tell from the way it looks on TV that it would be very exciting to see in person.

(This is NASCAR section, but that's the vibe I get from watching Monster Jam)
  • What do you do at Monster Jam races? I never been to one before.
  • They are great ,I go to them every year they have them here in Louisiana !
  • drink beer and root for grave digger.......!
  • What?
  • It will be one of the best nights of your life. I LOVE Monster Trucks. Maximum Destruction,(Tom Meents is Awesome) Grave Digger, Bounty Hunter, and T-Maxx are cool. You'll have fun and meet great people. And like bestanswer said, every weekday, speed has Monster Jam. They alternate each day, one day racing, the next FREE STYLE!!!!!!!!
  • there pretty cool but they do get stupid some times
  • I went to a Monster Jam event in Louisville, Ky once. It was really neat. Outside there were concession stands and souvenir booths and in the pits you could go see the trucks and meet the drivers and get pictures with them and autographs. Other than that, you can sit it the seats and root for your favorite truck. You may want some ear plugs though if you don't like loud noises. They have like atv races or something like that or a tractor pull. Not all will have it. It depends on where you go to. You will get to see a head to head racing matchup and a freestyle competition in one night.
  • What driver is just like you were in high school?

    May be...

  • Tony Stewart... I was fat and shot my mouth off way too much!!! LOL
  • Buckshot Jones.
  • i guess it would be stewart. when i didnt care if i got in trouble, i tried to get in trouble. some days i needed a vacation and 3 days suspension was perfect
  • well, i'm still in high school. umm, right now i would have to say personality wise jamie mcmurray. i'm very polite and respect my elders.
  • Mark Martin - Outgoing, sensitiv, ruthless/toothless, disobedient, disruptive, bossy, jealous, mullet, athletic, good speeler, and slightly underweight.
  • I really couldn't think of any driver, but my best friend said that I was like Kurt Busch: absolute a** hole when I started high school, got into trouble a lot, but started to mellow out, minus a few slip-ups once in a while.

Heh, one of my "slip-ups" landed me in detention the second to last day of my high school career.
  • Tony Stewart...I was "comfortable with getting suspended" LOL
  • well i am a junior in highschool next year and gotta say Paul Menard cuz he and I are quiet and are underdogs no lie.
  • Kasey Kahne
Brilliant but quiet and keeps to himself

I was smart but not very social.
  • crazy smash the derby woman
  • Tony Stewart, detention was my bff..
  • Michael Waltrip. Goofing around a lot and sometimes getting into trouble...but not too much (Just like he did by cheating and running over people in NASCAR)

Kyle Busch ... It was never my fault when I got in trouble either lol. And also he has a sense of humor, too. (Go Kyle)

And if there is a driver that procrastinated...add me to that list

Also add me to the list that has the driver that was really good/smart but didn't live up to the potential
  • klye busch is like i was in 3rd grade
  • I was a mix of Dale Sr, Rowdy Busch and Smoke, but heck I was a straight A student and lettered in 3 sports, but I still drove my parents nuts, and my track coach..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Carl Edwards !!!
Wanted to learn to fly.... Doing flips off the diving boards....
and wanted a Roush engine... in my Ford / [Falcon] !!!!!
  • I was kind of like Dale Earnhardt Sr and Tony Stewart mixed!! ...I was hell on wheels and my parents worst nightmare!!(I loved being a teenager=:)
  • Kasey Kahne, very quite and shy. But when it came to taking care of business I would get it done just like him.
  • I gotta pick 2....definitely Smoke, outspoken, ornery, honest and pedal to the metal. Second has to be Warren Wallace..."I'm gonna put him in to the wall"...toothpick n all....I luv that kid!
    Peace n Smiles =o~}
  • who likes to cut up and have a little fun without gettin in much trouble. easy to get along with and doesnt make fun of people. thats how i am and im still in high school. today was my last day of my sophmore year. YAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
  • Do you know anyone who has given up on NASCAR?

    May be...

  • All 3 of my husbands sisters, but that's because they turned into spineless doormats after they got married, and none of their husbands like nascar. Pitiful.

*I don't avoid them, they do! We're not good enough for them anymore, lol..*
  • I have not totally lost interest but the rule changes, new car and hype has sorely tested me. I watch maybe a third as many races as I used to. And I am quick to turn them off if something irritates me. DW especially. Boogity is something that I thought was dumb 30 years ago.
  • One of my best friends and her son used to be into NASCAR big time and they were also Jeff Gordon fans but they don't watch anymore either they do keep up on it because of me and the details I tell them but other than that they don't watch anymore when I asked why they said that they just got to mad at it all the time; you know I get mad at it myself at times too but I couldn't ever imagine giving up on my NASCAR not gonna happen nope never!!!

edit: zalex when did you become pres of Jr Nation? LOL =)
  • I actually almost have many times since Dale Sr death, Lucky Dog BS, no more of the Rock, no more darlington son labor day weekend, California speedway is just Bad, the boredom of the fashion Matt Kenseth won the final Winston cup, onslaught on bandwagon, Jimmie Johnson winning the championship, Cot, and the riceburner toyotas. ETCETERA.

    But still here.......................................
  • i make people more interested in it so they wanna take a peek
  • Yes but they stopped watching it a few years ago. I'm really not sure why she gave up on it, either
  • Yesterday I ran into an old friend who was a huge NASCAR & Jeff Gordon fan. I was stunned when he told me that he didn't even watch it anymore - he was so disgusted with all of the rule changes and the COT.
As a longtime fan, I've been pretty disgusted myself, but never enough to give it up completely.
I'm just wondering, does anyone else have friends or acquaintances who have stopped watched NASCAR completely?
  • I think you can consider my brother and I have quit NASCAR. Between the two of us, we were season ticket holders of ten seats at Michigan (MIS) since the inception-1969. Then, MIS and NASCAR began forcing us to buy tickets to support races on Saturday-Busch, truck, etc. So we quit two years ago. We also quit flying to Daytona, Sonoma , Phoenix, Bristol and Taladega for the races.
Then NASCAR made the teams build the piece if crap COT, made 35 teams be in each race.
Guess what? My brother retired, lives ten minutes from Daytona. He doesn't go to the track. Doesn't even watch on TV. Either do I. The France family ruined the sport.
  • u still cant be disgusted with nascar
  • Yes. It's kinda sad. I guess they arent real fans then, I guess
  • YEAH, several, mainly my bro....
    He's silly. huh?

Zalex: You need to mind your own business...
That is not true at all, Dave is a diehard Nascar Fan!
  • I've seen them come and go.My dad left when they went to tube frame chassis in 71 and he introduced me to the sport of circle track racing,on a local and a national level. I built a modified Dodge and went racing and sparked his interest a little but he and the driver & most of the crew lost interest after Dale Sr was killed for varied reasons. Some just don't like the Chase.

edit I am guilty of using the DVR about half the time so I can A watch both the F-1 and Indy race if they are scheduled around thet time and
    B blow through the commercials
  • yes one of my friends , ( DAVE ) he was a kurt busch fan, and recently he gave up, because of how bad kurt busch was doing
  • OMG, yes big time, but then most of them are old timers, who gave up on Nascar when The Rock, Wilkesboro lost races, and Darlington lost the Southern 500.. and when we got a races out here in Calif, and now with the COT, and with Nascar going Hollyweird as they call it.. They do watch Arca, and they go to Camping World races, and World of Outlaws races. They just read about it in the paper or hear news on the TV... Yes, I'm upset with some of the same issues but I'm still a fan theres lots that I do not like, but then it gives me something to piss and moan about.. I even know people out here who tried to give it a try, they watch but if theres a Baseball, Football, Soccer, Basketball they'll watch those and ask me who won...I have about 10-12 diehard fans out here, but only 3 or 4 of us actually go to the races, they'd rather watch it on TV.. But me I'm at the race..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Some of them get mad and ticked like all of us do at times but always stay or come back. It hasn't gotten that bad for them yet and certainly not me. :)
  • I know a guy who didn't completely give it up, but has come very close since Dale Earnhardt died. I really don't understand how one driver means that much to you watching it, but that's another story. That's not really about the same things you asked though. I don't think he cares for most of the changes either. He basically watches the Daytona 500 and maybe a race here or there now. He really doesn't care what happens much now, just watches when nothing else is going on.
  • i am not as interested in it as much as i used too. to many changes. i watch it as much as i can, well at least the fun tracks, bristol, dega, charlotte.... you know
  • HEY !! Lynn !! What'cha doing??..... I have a few friends and family that don't get into it, like they once did ?? WELL??? .... Their just not real die-hards like they once were.
    RULE CHANGES??.......
  • Nope. Everyone I know still watches it as much as they always have.

Winter Glory ~ I hear ya. My future husband will either have to be a NASCAR fan or find something else to do during the races. When NASCAR is involved I compromise for noone. :) Not even my grandfather who tried to talk us out of going to our 1st race. And he's the reason I like NASCAR to begin with. Weird right?
  • Heck No!
  • yeah its pretty disapointing, my best friend was a huge kahne fan but because of the cot and toyota coming in (no offense toyots fans) and it happened that year that kahne wasnt doing so hot, he got out of watchin nascar. it sucks cause it was pretty fun him rootin for kahne and me for jr and stewart especially since he hated stewart...lol. i've tryed to talk him back into watchin it but its hopless. :(
  • Yes actually my one friend. He introduced me to the sport and i immediately fell in love with it. But now that he hangs out with the football and basketball kids he lost interest in it. NASCAR is the best sport ever!!!

Is Landon Cassill In Nascar 09?

    May be...

  • No he is not, but don't get discouraged because of Xbox's new Xbox live you will be able to download drivers and paint schemes free the same way you are able to download new songs for the game "Rockband" or "Guitar Hero" or how you can donwload cars and tracks for "Forza Motorsports 2" I bet you will be able to play as Landon Cassil before to long.
  • Think about it, he shares the 5 car with 4 Cup drivers, you know damn well they'll have Jr driving the 5.
  • no he isnt
  • no
  • Just wonderin is Landon Cassill Is in Nascar 09
  • I see no one else believes this anti-discrimination lawsuit filed against NASCAR.?

    May be...

  • 225 million huh? I think its a bunch of crap. Trying to get something for free.
  • I'm calling bullchit. 225 Million and the lady waits almost a year to file? C'mon. If it was me I'd be all over that while the evidence is fresh.
  • It was posted several times...look at the list. Many opinions too.
  • posted yesterday...both sides have to be heard then we will see, if true look out
  • from what i see she is full of herself
they dont seem to be worried
  • I read all 43 pages of her filing/docket and 90% of it sounds like whiney BS. Example: Someone sent her a funny e-mail paragraph about being retarded etc. It was a basic chain mail thing that people send around. I know because my sister sent me the same thing a couple years ago. She was offended!? It says nothing about being a woman or black, etc.

The other 10% that could be true sure as heck is't worth 225 million much less 500,000.
I don't condone ignorant behavior but she worked in an automotive Garage full of men! Not sure what she expected.

All in all I think she's trying to nit pick her way into a mansion and a yacht.
  • to those who said they havent heard about it heres a link:
    http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/2008...

I hope that it all isnt true because nascar will be in deep doo doo if it is.
  • The question was asked several times yesterday.

I believe the basis of the suit is real and Nascar needs to get it's house in order. The details will come out in court we just don't know at this point exactly what they are.

I wish Nascar would implement policies and changes to eliminate this kind of abuse. Knowing them they will deny and fight till the end.
  • I answered your question yesterday! Mrs. Gant and her Lawyers hit the lottery. Black Women! Discrimination!! It's not fair, but Nascar won't fight it because of the publicity. It will be settled out of court for an undisclosed amount!
    PEACE!
  • There were a few questions about it yesterday. If its true Nascar better start emptying their pockets out.
  • No one has posted this question.
  • Wow! This is the first I've heard of it, but my husband is the true fan...
  • It's a crock of s*** and NASCAR should stand up to her...Hey a few black people glared at me today, where's my millions????
  • I haven't heard anything about it, but then that's normal for me.
    What's it about?
  • Should we Petty Enterprises fans be delighted or depressed?

    May be...

  • Of course you should be happy. Without this partnership it sounds like Petty Ent. would go bankrupt in the coming years. Sounds like they were only able to sign Labonte because of the partnership.
  • LaBonte should bring some renewed respect. It's a great move. No it didn't surprise me to hear Kyle isn't a part owner.
  • Delighted. What an awesome move for Petty. I would love to see Bobby running up front!
  • I just posted a question about the same thing right above yours. Sorry Sally, I think it will help them in the long run and I'm certainly glad to see Bobby get a 4 year extension.
  • After watching the Petty Enterprises news conference:
I'm beyond delighted that Bobby Labonte has signed a 4 year contract and that he aluded to the posibility of being a "partner" in some of the extension clauses.
I'm beyond depressed that partnering with venturists has now become a part of the sport and that Petty Enterprises has fallen to having to be bedfellows with one.
I was surprised to learn that the Richard Petty Driving Experience is a part of the new "partnership".
I was surprised to hear Kyle say he is not an owner in Petty Enterprises (an assumption on my part that he was).
I feel nervous about the sponsorship situation for both the 43 & the 45 for 2009. It was a topic that was pretty well hurried over in the news conference.
Anyone else watch and have comments?
  • It good for them to get Bobby for 4 more years. Bobby is there best driver and will have the best chance to get a win, not being rude to Kyle Petty. I knew that Bobby would have a different sponsor, because RCR is taking the General Mills sponsor, which is what Bobby is driving for this year. Now Petty Enterprise just needs a younger FA singing and they will be doing good!
  • Petty Enterprises is now the NEW Hendrick.
  • Going to MIS this Sunday! Best route- easy 10 pts.?

    May be...

  • What Jaynarie said.lived within twenty miles of MIS for 14 years-that's the way we went. Many times we would leave MIS after the race and go South to US-12, go either way just to get out.
  • For some reason "ask" is missing, and only "add details" is here?? Anyway, I am close to Detroit and am going for the Sprint race and have pit passes. What's the best route in and what time should I leave?
  • Do NOT go the way the above poster said. Traffic is awful and it can take 2-3 hours to get from Saline to Brooklyn.
    Go this way:
    Take 94 west.
Get off at exit 153 (Clear Lake Rd.)
Turn left, taking Clear Lake to Michigan Rd
Turn right on Michigan and go to Norvell Rd.
Turn left on Norvell Rd. at the dealership and go to Austin Rd
Turn right onto Austin Rd. and go to M-60
Turn left on M-50 that will lead you straight to MIS.

Traffic is MUCH better this way!!
  • have you checked for shortest route directions>>>yahoo directions
  • HELIcopter? LOL
  • I am going...Wa-Hoo!!!!!! Can't even wait. If you have never been before you will want to leave early so you have time to see everything. The place is HUGE. We leave around 5am. But we go out for breakfast first. The gates at MIS open at 8:00. The parking lots opens at 7:00. Best way to get directions is just go to the MIS website they have all the maps you need. They are important to see because they direct traffic differently than on normal day. In the morning most roads only lead into MIS, and same for leaving all the roads are one way at that is OUT. It makes the traffic a lot more bearable. They also did some big mulit-million dollar renovations for traffic last year and it was nice. Usually takes me 4-5 hours to just get out of the parking lot and last year I was home in just a couple hours. Another tip since you have Pit passes wait for a while before visiting Pit Road. If you get there to early then you don't get to see the cars. They start rolling them out around Noon or so. Pit Road is cool no matter what. But wait for the cars it's way more exciting.

Have fun! My seats are in Turn 4!!!!! Right now the Weather is supposed to be 82 beautiful degrees!

    >>Edit....I just checked and Bill Engvall (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) is the Grand Marshall on Suday.
  • Shortest, quickest route???

Ebay the passes, stay home on the couch.

Zero commute, zero miles, zero hassles.

  • Who pays for nascar drivers fuel?

    May be...

  • fuel to race the cars is provided to nascar from sunoco free

under there exclusive fuel supplier contract

fuel for to and from the tracks the teams pay for
  • At all Nascar sanctioned events whether it's a race or testing, the fuel is provided free via Sunoco's sponsorship with Nascar. Teams do have to purchase the fuel they use for non-Nascar sanctioned tests and for all the fuel they use in the motor department.
  • Depends which driver:
Boris Said - No Fear Energy Drink
    Gordon - Pepsi
Earnhardt Jr. - Mt. Dew/AMP Energy Drink
Stanton Barrett/Rowdy - NOS Energy Drink
Brian Vickers/AJ Dingalinger - Red Bull Energy Drink
Kenny Wallace - Shark Energy Drink
    Kasey Kahne - Budweiser
    Regan Smith - Coors
    Kurt Busch - Miller Lite
The rest have Coke Zero or Gatorade depending on who sponsors victory lane in the race.

P.S.: The question was about the drivers' fuel, not the vehicle's fuel, lol.
  • their car's fuels are given by sunoco under their contract. with nascar

and you see the decals of sunoco on the sides of their cars.?
it means that sunoco sponsors the race cars also.
  • SPONSORS, OWNERS
  • the nascar drivers do
  • LMAO!!! The drivers!! That's a good one.
  • If you consider that the "fuel" for the drivers would be in the form of drinks, sandwiches and the like, I would say the sponsors.

If you mean the fuel for the vehicle, I would still say the sponsors.

Does anyone see a pattern here?
  • (Karting) When driving on a new track..?

    May be...

  • the first thing i do when going to a new track is walk the track and study the corners and the surface of the track to see what the entry, apex and exit of each corner and look for natural braking markers or landmarks, then i go out and drive the track to feel the corners and i adjust the corners for the best entry and exit so i can work to a faster lap every lap.when you plateau and cant find any more speed i work towards smoothing my line.start with your tire pressures at the tire manufacturers specs when sorting out your chassis then make fine tuning adjustments with your tire pressures.i race a shifter kart so i have four wheel disk brakes and i go into corners very deep then brake, turn and accelerate out so depending on what you race and the chassis this can change.remember when the green flag drops stay with your markers and drive a smooth race and play it like a chess game, take advantage of the mistakes that the person in front of you makes to gain places and always remember to drive smooth and consistant and make them take the long way around you.

edit:in the case of blind corners i always try to set the karts exit so that i am set up for the next corner with the least amount of steering input, this way you arent trying to use the power you have to try to correct your line.most people are not going to fly into a blind corner but you can use them to your advantage.
  • ..what is a good approach? Start slow and go faster with every lap?

Is it necessary to study the layout and memorise it or is it better to learn it by driving?

By the way I'm posting this here because there is no karting section.

The Movie:Talladega Nights: How many people were against Ricky Bobby?

    May be...

  • If you ain't first your last. Is this question in the right forum
  • The whole movie was against him. LOL

Dale like all the rest only liked him when he was winning. I did watch it a few times.
  • I think 5
  • for some reason I never even wanted to watch that movie.
  • his pit crew liked him, and Dale Jr thougth he was "awsome"...u need to watch it a few more times
  • The only one that was for him was his assistant. agree, even his kids wanted 2 Christmas's.
  • Yep only his assistant !
  • Do any of you believe that HMS is waiting on the chase to show their hand?

    May be...

  • No I don't think they are holding back. HMS has a lot on the line and a few wins would be fantastic for them. If they had it they would be using it right now. I do think they are getting better at least Gordon seems to be running in the top 10 most the time. Junior & Jimmie have been up there. I think they are actually going along pretty well all 3 top drivers are in the Chase so far.
  • Though I am not a fan of the Hendricks drivers I hardly think that, as good as they were in the past, that they are going to just sit back and watch everyone else win races and then race like heck when it comes to the chase for the championship.
  • I don't believe it either. The bottom line is that a race team wins every time they can. Always!
  • Hopefully they will find something by then.
  • nascar is too competitive for any team to be sandbagging like that. If they had it they'd be dogging everyone else like they were last 2 years. the racing gods put a hex on hendrick for giving kyle busch to the dark side and keeping casey mears (wtf!!!???!!!?)
  • I've read this many times on here this season! I don't buy it! I think they would be winning if they could! They could be somewhat better as they get back to the tracks that are ran twice a year. Four cars, fourteen races into the season. Only one win! They do have some work to do to catch-up, let alone to be as dominate as they were the last two years!!
    What do you think?
  • we can go on vacations, pay for sex, and come back in a couple of months!
...oh wait. Jail isn't a vacation, but the sex wasn't bad
  • I don't believe that for one second. If they could win races like they did last year they would be doing it.
  • Again I have to agree with #18 fan here. It makes perfect since seeing how being in the top 12 is all that matters right now. (hey NASACR look at the F1 point system) It doesn't pay to use up all your equiptment befoee the chase and if you have something in the tool box that will leave the rest seeing double it would be better to spring it on them during the chase than before. Heck these guys ain't dummies but by the time it would take them to figure out what HMS is doing the season would be over.

    Should be interesting....
  • I don't think HMS is holding back & waiting for the chase to start. They race to win & hopefully they can turn it around soon & Jimmie & Jeff show Earnhardt Jr who is still are the top 2 dogs at HMS
  • No I don't believe that at all. They are having problems with the new tires that goodyear came up with this year. I sure hope they get it down soon !
  • I only hope that is true. Can't believe that though. Too much competitiveness in the driver's for that.
  • No there not! Mabye there's some problem they have in there chemistry, feeling they could win because they dominated last year, but don't pay enough attention to trying to win.

    Go Jr # 88!
  • Looking back at their history, I do believe jimmie and jeff are playing conservative..hang out around the top 10 in points until a few races to go till the chase, then make a run for the top 5 in points and during the chase theyll really show what they got, and kyle busch will slip during the chase.
  • No, it's just wishful thinking. Actually they've had several finishes that were better than the cars were worthy of. For instance Junior's last race and Jeff's the week before.
  • i not only believe it, i just wrote it as my answer to another question - but i wouldn't call it "holding back," i'd call it practicing for the last ten races while maintaining a spot in the top 12. chad knaus all but said so on numerous occasions; they focus all their energies on those last ten races. and gordon has said that about johnson/knaus and how he and letarte didn't do that last year and ended up losing by using a "win in the first 26" strategy.

no one is saying they are holding back so much as to lose out on much in terms of money or points - if they happen to try something new and it works for a race, they'll sail on with it. if it doesn't, they go to work on a fallback strategy and get good top-ten or top-fifteen finishes. how many times have their cars sucked this year, only for them to pull some oddball strategy move like at pocono or charlotte, that gets them back into or near the top ten. and either way, they learn something new that will help them in the chase.

the first 26 races are just preparation and practice for these guys - a chance to try out new things, but not so far out that they drop from the top 12. don't you find it interesting that the media spend so much time on "hms's downfall" and how poorly they are doing, etc. but somehow johnson and gordon are 6th and 8th in the points? chad knaus is a very smart crew chief and excellent strategist who doesn't mind doing the unusual. need proof? re-watch the pocono race. and this "not show our hand" pre-chase season is a great strategy.

and i agree with everyone on here who says that they're too competitive to lose a race on purpose - but that's not what they're doing. they're looking to win a championship, and if they win races along the way, great. but the chase has forced teams to think strategically over the whole season rather than solely on a race-by-race basis. burton and bowyer talk about it all the time - stay consistent, get in the chase, then run for the money.

like i said before, mark my words, come loudon in september, they'll be nestled somewhere in the middle of the top twelve, but then game on son... i think then the epic battle that everyone expected - hms vs jgr - will be in full force.
  • No. That's not their style. jeffy and jimmie's ego's will not let them lose. They have to, Have To, HAVE TO win, ALWAYS!!! Heck, only 4 times a year do they ever lay back and wait 'till the end (Daytona and Talladega races). At all of the other races they get to the front as quickly as possible (which this year seems to be about 100 laps past the end of the race), and dominate the race.
  • HMS has three drivers in the top twelve. I don't think they could do much better than that. Wait until the chase and then see what happens.
  • How can you know you have the best car when this is the first year with it full time. They would have to at least run up front and drop off at the end of the race to make it look like they haven't figured it out. Now if they were running the old cars this year, giving the performance they had last year, I would say yes they're holding back without a doubt.
  • I don't think they are holding back right now. It's hard for to believe any driver or owner putting in the time and money to play opposum for 26 races.

I do feel though that they will hit on something, sooner rather than later..and all three will be there down the stretch of the Chase.
  • Who's sexier Dale Jr or Kasey Kahne?

    May be...

  • I would sssssssspank them both.LOL

Just joking, my boat don't float up that stream, I don't hike up that trail, I don't swing that direction, I don't drive down that dirt road.

I like both drivers actually. Jr is my Favorite, and I liked Kasey since he came in. My friends gave me crap because I like Kasey, they said he would never do anything, he is the next Mayfeild. Guess they were wrong.
  • Kasey Kahne for sure!!!!!
  • woowhoo I've been waiting on a question like this!! LOL Well my answer is Jr cause I just think he's got that good ol' country boy look and attitude that I like!! now Kasey is cute don't get me wrong but he's too young for me and besides he looks like he's not old enough to be driving the bud car!! LOL but he is a cutie but Dale Jr is definitely sexier!!!
  • Sorry but, Dale Jr's Wife. Yahoo
  • According to my wife, Dale JR is one of the sexiest men alive.

And is Kasey old enough to be called sexy? He looks like he's 12.
  • KASEY KAHNE
  • Kasey Kahne, definitely!!
  • Jr. for sure. Kasey's got pretty eyes, but that's it.
  • Kasey Kahne - hands down.
  • Between those two.... Kasey.

But Elliott Sadler is cuter than both of them, lol :)
  • Kasey Kahne. Well neither of them are "sexy" to me...I like the dark and brooding kind...Smoke, Elliot Sadler, Robby Gordon. etc....But I would prefer Kasey. Dale Jr. has that pasty paleness to him. Like he doesn't get enough sunlight. After a race his face is all red. I think it's because redheads like Jr. don't tan as well.
  • Of the two I'd have to give it to blue eyes..
  • Not playing this little game Ashley. What matters is their driving ability, nothing more, nothing less.
  • That's a hard one Dale has that rugged sexy look while Kasey has a pretty boy sex appeal look.
  • just asking
  • Hands down Junior is far more sexy in my book. Nothing against Kasey he is a cutie but in a 'G' rated way. Junior he is just a laid back southern guy and all that it implies.
  • do you seriously have to ask this question?
    Kasey Kahne without a doubt!
Kasey Kahne is the hottest driver ever!
    espcially with those gorgeous eyes..whoa.
    =]
  • Dale Jr if he doesn't speak - Kasey Kahne never.
  • Definitely Dale Earnhardt Jr.
  • JUNIOR definitely I mean Kasey is so cute but Junior has sex appeal
  • Don't know but Kahne 's the better driver
  • you're asking a guy.
  • NEITHER!
  • I like that rugged look and he is tall, so I'm going with Dale Jr..Kasey is cute to sweet looking for me and short...So i'm going to say Dale Jr..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  • What makes the new car hotter inside for drivers?

    May be...

  • “I saw Brian, and even Junior needed a second to breathe. It’s just tough,” Hamlin said. “We’re trying as drivers to stay hydrated, but these cars are just way too hot.”
  • Glad to see you back Beth, you have been missed dearly!
  • Can we get NASCAR to do a recall like the regular car makers are forced to do?
  • The old car rules allowed the teams to evacuate the pressure under the car causing a lower pressure and more downforce. This resulted in engine, radiator and exhaust tubing heat being removed along with the air.

The new car has higher pressure under it resulting in less air movement so more of the heat generated can be absorbed by the floor of the car.

To a lesser degree the "yaw" put into the cars shifts more heat away from the right side over to the left side of the car.

The new seats have also greatly decreased the air circulation around the drivers.

Drivers are going to have to be in shape and hydrated to be successful this summer.
  • my guess is that the protective foam insulation now built into the sides of the new car keeps more of the heat generated from the engine inside the cockpit, like a thermos, and that wasn't as big a factor in the old cars. that combined with a design that allows even less air to circulate in the cockpit through the windows than ever before (to cut down on aerodynamic drag), probably makes them quite a bit hotter. but that's just my guess.
  • Foam in the doors.... and the drivers seat is closer to the center of the car

    Which owner/driver is your favorite?

    May be...

  • I agree with everyone. Robby Gordon. He will drive the wheels off anything you put under him.
  • robby gordon, because michael waltrip sucks
  • Robby Gordon all the way, he can drive anything besides he's a awesome guy, we all love him out here in Calif..He is a smart guy as well and look what he has done, I wish he could get a full time committed sponsor, dude deserves it..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Robby Gordon, cause they thought he won't make it and he went thru alot to get where he is but look at him now and he's a good driver!!
  • I like both, but have to pick Robby Gordon at this point, not only for his dedication/aggressiveness,but also for the following story: Some of my friends and I were at Darlington last month and Robby Gordon had been signing autographs at a booth all day.He was finished and leaving by the time we got to the trailer, but saw that my friend's 7 year old son wanted an autograph. My friend's son had a RG shirt that was like an XL bc that's all we could find for him around the track. After seeing this,Robby took the time to come over to him, talk to him,go to the back of the trailer and get him a shirt that would fit him, shake his hand, autograph the shirt, and take pictures!!! I thought that was a very kind and generous thing to do and have new respect for Robby Gordon!!!
  • robby gordon

    aggresive
  • Michael Waltrip. Robby Gordon is someone I really like on some days and not like other days. He's pretty moody. I like his aggressiveness though. Him doing burnouts though after losing in Canada last year, priceless.
  • robby gordon and what tbone said.
  • Robby Gordon by far and the reason being that he does it without near as many sponsor dollars as Mikey. He is pretty aggressive but in my book that's OKIE DOKIE!
  • Amen to the first 4!

    Or 5.
  • Robby. Nothing against Mikey he's a cool guy, but Robby is more talented in other froms of racing also, just like Wild Thing :^)
  • Robby Gordon or Michael Waltrip? Why?
  • well..going by racing ability..
i'd have to say Robby Gordon.
but if i go by attitude & personality..
    i'd say Michael Waltrip.
Michael is a very nice & funny guy. & his commercials are super funny [well...most of them].
    Overall.i choose..Michael Waltrip.
  • Robby Gordon

I find him to be a very aggresive driver. I always liked him and he is a great driver.
  • Robby without a doubt. Nothing was ever handed to the guy and he's proving many doubters wrong. Three years ago Jimmy Spencer was relentless on how he'd never survive and now look at him. He's actually close to putting a second car on the track. And besides the man can flat out drive anything.
  • Mikey. I actually think Michael Waltrip is because of his passion. I feel that if he stopped driving and just did the team ownership that they would be more competitive.
  • Robby Gordon...absolutely NO CONTEST!! I really think Robby has what it takes to win. I hate his bad luck but his perserverence is something that I admire. I like him best because he is a NASCAR rebel...he is one of the few who hasn't been emasculated by the powers that be in NASCAR. Every week he is there...not just looking to stay on the lead lap but looking to win. I am looking forward to that day!!!
    P.S. But I like Mikey's commercials.
  • Who is your favorite Nascar section answerer person (lol)?

  • Nascar question....?

    May be...

  • 17 is a Dewalt car but it is also sponsored by a company called R&L Carriers Green and Yellow you will see it on the back of the car and sometimes on the hood

Yes there is allotted space for local sponsors The also have at least 3 different cars that they use. Watch for different vehicle colors and Sponsors.

    #1 NASCAR FAN
  • It could be a small team looking for any sponsorship.
  • I actually work for Weis and we were a co-sponsor for the race on some of the cars. We had certain products through out our store that if you purchased any of these products during the month of April you were entered into a drawing for tickets to the race at Pocono.
  • Nass88 is right...they take all the sponsors they can get local or otherwise.
  • I am pretty sure that any business can sponsor a car. The more $$ you have to sponsor the bigger the sticker or it would be in a spot that gets a lot of airtime. Budweiser sponsored Dale Jr. and had their name on his hood...for $20 Million.
  • My husband is the Nascar fan, not me, and he went to the race at Pocono yesterday. I watched on TV and noticed when one of the cars was in the pit (a bigger name that I can't remember but did recognize) I noticed on the back of the car a logo for Weis supermarkets. They are a regional store, not national, and I was curious why it was on the car.

Finally, my question..do the drivers have "space" alloted for local sponsors when they compete at a race, or could this be a one time thing.

I was just curious and my hubby didn't know the answer right off the top of his head.

thanks in advance for your help.
  • If you have the money, you too could sponsor a driver.
My husband owns a auto parts store (local...not even regional or national), and he sponsors two drivers on our local short circuit track. They give him the advertising, he gives them free and/or spare parts. It's a win/win for both parties.
  • hopefully weis sponsored more than one car or they probably didn't get their money's worth - i could have sworn i saw that "weis" logo on the back of kyle busch's backup car as they pulled it off the hauler saturday, and on sunday he spent most of the race in the garage.

as for the sponsorship question, there's all variety of ways sponsors support cars, tracks, races, and series. the local grocery chain here, stater brothers, sponsors the nationwide race here in fontana. bottom line, if the sponsor has the money, they'll usually find a place for a logo - as long as it doesn't compete with another sponsor they have (bud and miller lite, alltel and at&t, etc.).
  • some racers don't have enough sponsership for all the races..and take whatever deals they can get ..some do get a one race deal with area business.
  • Martin Brundle's un-PC remark. . .?

    May be...

  • OMG I didn't hear that. I think I would have choked if I had. We have friends that are gypsies and we call them pikeys all the time and they don't give a toss lmao. He'll probably get caned for that.
  • Oh who cares? People are getting too soft-skinned for their own good.

If people are going to complain about that, maybe I should complain to Rai Uno (Italian TV for those who don't know) because they called Coulthard "inglese" on a dozen occasions yesterday...maybe having a Scot being wrongly attributed my nationality insulted MY essential "Englishness"...I wonder how much compensation I can get out of them for that...?

For those who have never had the "joy" of living in France, "rosbif" is a half-fun, half-pejorative (depending on the context) French slang name for an Englishman... it's probably more insulting than "paddy" but less insulting than "pikey" or "mick", or other expressions which might get me my answer deleted by the Y!A PC Police...
  • Political correctness HAS gone mad. How on earth they can make a story out of that I don't know. Cant be any real news in the world..........
    All hail Brundle!
  • That was funny, who cares about it being PC?

Pikeys have offered to do my mum's drive 3 times in the last fortnight, perhaps we ought to give them the number for the Canadian F1 HQ?
  • Who really cares?
Are people really that sensitive to what others say, or is PC a reaction to the compensation culture prevalent in our society today?
  • well anything in f1 can be turned into a big news story....
  • It's not such a big deal really but for someone presenting a show live to millions of people it's unacceptable. It was a poor attempt at humor and it was totally unprofessional. Talk like that should be resevered for when they are away from the camera. F1 doesn't need this kind of negative **** right now and I hope he gets fined.
  • When it aired I turned to my wife and said "There will be trouble over that"

    xxFJ
  • It was only a matter of time!
    Your comments please

  • i can't see what he has done wrong.

as a joke he called some fictional canadian workmen pikeys.

it was just before the start so there will have been nobody laying tarmac.

    it was a JOKE.

and what was a matter of time?
  • Old records in F1 quiz, anybody?

    May be...

  • Research? Who would need to research that question. That is sooo easy, I'm not even going to bother answering that.
  • All these numbers represent a former record total of something or other in F1...the first 6 are records at the start of 1987, the next 6 are the records from the start of 1960...which record are they, who held the record, and who eventually broke the record? For the last six, which record did the driver named hold at some point in time?

you have asked 18 questions, there is no clue as to what the questions are and f1 is boring.

  • Whats ur cars manufacture ONLY ANSWER IF UR MANUFACTURE RACES IN NASCAR?

    May be...

  • Ford. It's a Mustang though. And my mom's got a Contour.
  • ford
  • well I'm to young to drive BUT I want to get a ford mustang BUT i would rather get a ford ranger

(sorry this isn't in nascar BUT)
my parents drive this AUSOME Pontiac Bonneville (it has a sun roof and leather and swaid interior) its so cool (they said the aren't going to let me drive it :(
and an GMC jimmy made in 1994 (its as old as me)
(i have driven it before) its loud and no matter where i am (as long as its not to far) i can hear when it starts and when who ever is driving it is close :) i like it its a good car/truck thing and its nice for fishing and hunting :) (but ir not really that loud but i can hear it like a street or two away)
  • Chevrolet, manufacturer with the most championships!!!

    BTW - I drive a 2007 Z71
  • Well my brother races a local dirt track Nascar series, and he drives a Chevy.
Chevy usually is the most efficient car, but ford is also efficient
  • Well I drive a Toyota Camry and so do my parents. I wouldn't mind having a Prius, though!
  • My parents have a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Camry.
  • if you dont own a car, whats ur parents cars manufacture

ONLY ANSWER IF UR MANUFACTURE, RACES IN NASCAR

YOU CAN HAVE TWO CARS OR MORE
  • Fords
  • I've owned a '69 Chevy Camaro SS for 22 years. I also own an '87 GMC(Chevy) Suburban 4x4 and an '01 Lincoln(Ford) Town Car.
  • My husband has a Dodge (it's a truck, though)
    My car doesn't count

*lol..you drive a toyota? you said you were 13!*
  • 94 Toyota truck, Honda Passport

American cars are JUNK..As much as I hate to say that, its true. Ive owned a Jeep, Pontiac, Ford (biggest piece of junk) and a Chevy. All those vehicles couldnt survive like a Jap car. I will never own an American car again, and thats sad cuz I prefer to own US made, but reliablity is priority.
  • I drive a Ford F150 and my wife drives a Ford Focus. My favorite driver drives a Dodge. :)
  • I drive a Chevrolet, but I plan to get a Ford soon
  • Which Nascar track has the friendliest fans? which track has the most ignorant miscreant fans?

    May be...

  • Only track I've been to is Vegas, the fans were great!
  • nicest, indy

    ignorant, dega
  • I've been to them all up and down the east coast...and I can't see where one track has more or less than the other. Sometimes if a driver is at their Home track he gets a lot more fans there. Then if he loses or someone takes him out it can get a little hairy.

There are nasty fans at every track. same as there are nasty people here.

Just Like the guy who is stalking bestanswer. AND I just noticed also the guy who is stalking #18 #1 Fan Rowdy's World. Both of these guys have stalkers. Good thing they both also have broad shoulders.
  • NASCAR fans a pretty friendly in general! I think they are great everywhere!

The only ignorant fans are those that throw things. And, the majority of those fans seem to be in Talladega. They are at all tracks, but Dega seems to have more than a fair share.
  • Michigan is where I always feel welcome. Bristol and Chicagoland have fan friendly facilities.

Most rude fans, not sure, have not been around it.

Waiting for my trip to Fall Bristol '08 !!!
  • well you gotta see how much alcohol there drinkin, and whos in the lead jr, gordon, johnson, k. busch, stewart.

but overall id say friendliest would be Daytona and of course "ignorant" would be 'Dega.
  • curious about which Nascar city has the most friendly fans and the one with the most rude ignorant fans.
  • I have only been to races here in Cali, and I can't say that I like the majority of the fans here. The few of us who are TRUE NASCAR fans are outcasts.
  • the fans in vegas are always cool. the fans in fontana are usually too hot to be friendly or nasty. and from what i've seen on tv, the fans in talladega tend to be the most disrespectful.
  • Friendliest: Daytona
    Ignorant: Talladega
  • talladege can be both. I Jr. wins then it is the freindliest because that is pretty much the capital of Jr. nation. But if Jeff Gordon wins than it is the most ignorant well because it is pretty much the capital of jr. nation.
  • 8.6.08

How many people here live in... *(nascar)*?

    May be...

  • how many nascar lov'in people (that are here) live in Missouri!

  • Middle of no were in Colorado.
  • New York for me.
  • I live in Indiana Home state of none other than Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman!! but my brother lives in MO and we visit there 4or 5 times a year!!
  • my Mom's side of the family is from MO. Washington, MO to be exact. I'm a tried and true WV Mountaineer.
  • Tennessee here...I LOVE College Football...GO SEC!
  • Illinois here...
  • Go Carl Edwards and Wisconsin Badgers
  • WEst Virginia here.. and we stay in Pennsylvania alot cause my boyfriend is a boss on a drilling rig.. what did that have to do with nascar though???

GO JEFF GORDON!! STEP IT UP A NOTCH, BUDDY!!!
  • i live closer to richmond
  • Nope. 1000 Palms, California. I've been to Missouri, though. Does that count?
  • 24 & 48
  • I do. I live 10 minutes from where all the Wallace brothers and Kenny Schrader went to high school.

Sorry, college football isn't even on my radar whatsoever.
  • New York here too.
  • I live in Iowa, so I guess that makes us neighbors anyway. We go to the Kansas Speedway every year for the race. Wouldn't miss it!
  • Yup! i live in the same house as you
  • I lived there for 1 week when we went to St Louie for vacation. Does that count for anything?

Nope, I currently reside in Tennessee, where I was born & raised. Hopefully I can remedy that come Oct when I plan to move to Florida.

As far as college sports, I don't watch them unless they are the Lady Vols Basketball team.
  • I don't. I live 3 miles from my favorite driver. By boat, anyway :)
  • "i'm a thousand miles away, son, and ready to strike"
    --lauren wallace (modified)
  • me

i actually do live in misery
  • All right, who was it?

    May be...

  • I don't know but ever since he was Mr nice guy in Daytona and gave Newman that push for the win, its been all down hill..Kurt needs to go back being like his little Rowdy brother.. Poor Superdave he must be having a melt down..Not me I didn't put the hex on him, I think he did it to himself. Just go back to being the ole Kurt, he'll be just fine.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • no clue but it is deffinetly kasey kahne all the way!!!
  • Denny hamlin did it.
  • Confess now, and I'll go easy on you!
Who put the evil hex on Kurt?
  • both of them now- kyle just smacked the wall
  • i put the hex on kyle and Kurt and look what happened
  • The same people that put the hex on Kyle. GO #24
  • Sorry winter wasn't me and now it looks like both brothers are hexed that sucks for you Rowdy World members and I'm sorry for you all ( and I'm not being a smarta** either I just know how it goes when your driver has a bad day!!)
  • Don't blame me, I was taking a nap.
  • jaynarie, how do your hexes work so well... both busch brothers now.
  • lol you okay girl!!!

it was storming here in michigan did not see most of the race..... stupid pendejo storm! lol
  • Not me. I put the hex on Kyle. Just kidding :)
  • Has anybody else checked out racebuddy on nascar.com?

    May be...

  • I just checked it out. It goes to fast to read.
  • I think I will let everyone else test it out! I don't want to lose my Trackpass audio if my computer messes up!
  • Haven't checked out the chat yet. I have been checking out the cameras. Love the inside view riding with the driver ( I see it is only Stewart for that view but it is still cool) and the race robo looks very very cool, so far. The battle view is cool too, getting to see more passes in the packs then just toward the front. The pit view is very cool during the pit stops as well. Looks like it has great potential. Here is hopeing once, when they get the kinks worked out and refine it, they don't start charging for it.
  • I see what you say about the chat thing. Could be kinda cool though. Real time answers and conversation instead of Y/A format. I'll probably play around in there...I'll be "President of Jr Nation"...

    go figure.

Hey RW...either the chat crashed or your private chat invite froze it up on me...the "Would you like join?" box wouldnt go away, I had to close the entire thing. lol.
  • I just checked it out, we will see. Its free so we will see how good it is.

    Im of course Superdave!
  • looks like it could have some promise, as long as it doesn't crash. the interface needs some serious help, but it is funny to see some of the camera shots they have on. and that chat is going to end up being worthless - more "guest999 has entered the room" and "guest999 has left the room" than anything else. and of course, there is already a "busch or junior" room.

    check it out yourself: http://www.tnt.tv/sports/nascar/racebudd...

    so for the questions:

have you checked out the new free racebuddy on nascar.com?

how long do you think it will be before the server crashes on them today?
  • Thanks for the warning. I am more interested in the race more than anything else anyway. This is something that would be cool if you had a TV in the same room. Report It
  • Was the race awsome or what!?

    May be...

  • Yes, it would have been better if Joey Logano would have won but he wrecked. Yes, I have DirecTv and yes all of a sudden my screen went to the DirecTv logo. And I didn't have to go to NASCAR.com to see who won. It came back on when Brad was in victory lane. I didn't get to watch like the last 15 laps of the race.
  • yeah good race
    no i got dish
  • idk about you but KESELOWSKI BABY THE BOMF FUKING OMB LOL KICKASS NATIONWIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

...AND people just wanted to see him win cuz hes so new to it...and im glad he crashed i think hes way to cocky to win yet ya know ur first race u get 6th and dont like that thats not kule....watever tho...brad baby
  • I watched the race and thought it was good and I was glad Brad won he did a good job and I was glad to see him get his first win at Nashville!
And I've got Dish Network so I got to see the whole race sorry you didn't!! but I think others with direct had the same problem!
  • The Nationwide series race was the best in a while!
Wouldv'e been better if Logano had won but still! The restarts were exciting, good clean racing and, my 2nd fave in the Nationwide Series won too!

    Also,
If u have DirecTv plz read the following:
Did your screen all of a sudden go to a thing that had the DirecTv logo on it? That had music too? Well because of that I had to go on NASCAR.com to see who won!
  • i would have been happier had my boy won, but alas 'twas not to be. i would have much happier had i not seen that d@mn directv logo sitting there throughout the last 10 laps of the race. and nascar.com only had the last 5 or so. nascar.com also had a story that said that reutimann was "ambushed" on the last restart by bowyer and kyle busch (?) so i really wanted to see what went on. man, i thought, kyle must be really good to ambush first place from 20th and a couple laps down ON A RESTART!!!

luckily, the same problem didn't exist on the replay later that night. and that was a good finish. to get to see why bowyer was whining after the race about stremme bumping him up the track, just after he did the same thing to reutimann just brought back visions of denny ;-)

so yes, that was a fun race and congrats to brad and stremme.
  • It was a great race.

May I ask why everyone is SO eager for La'Gonzo to win? I don't get it....

It's his 2ND race with the big boys...shouldn't he have to take his lumps and work his way to the top? you people b*tch about Jr "having everything handed to him"...that's exactly what's happening with La'gonzo. They stick him in the BEST car on the track (in NW series)

...work your way to the top, take your lumps son.
  • How long will Heikki Kovalainen stay with McLaren?

    May be...

  • Personally I hope he stays there with Lewis Hamilton for the rest of his career, though I'm doubtful, what do you guys think? will Robert Kubica come in after Kovalainen's contact has finished or will they renew it?

I think Raikkonen will leave Ferrari next year and then Alonso will be in there obviously but yeah I couldn't see Kubica racing for Ferrari personally...

    What do you guys think?
  • As long as Kovalainen keeps on finishing in the points BEHIND Hamilton, then I think he's safe. He's doing a good number 2 driver's job at the moment, not threatening the team leader but being capable of picking up the pieces if things don't go well for Hamilton.
  • Kovalainen is being outshone by his team mate (but, then again, Lewis is outshining everybody in the sport!) I don't think Heikki will put up with this; he'll spit the dummy like Alonso did, and search for greener pastures elsewhere. But why would Kimi leave Ferrari? And I don't think Kubica should leave Sauber, they're on the verge of great things. Alonso? He's just a sook, ALMOST as bad as Mark Webber!
  • No idea about Heikki. However Kubica will most likely go to Ferrari over McLaren as there are already rumours he has been approached - although BMW has a 1 year option on Kubica so if he goes it wont be before end of 2009. There are also rumour circulating the F1 paddocks that Alonso has signed for Ferrari for 2010 already. I can see Alonso and Kubica at Ferrari for 2010 with Massa sold to mid table team or demoted to Test driver for Ferrari.

I would personally like to see BMW Sauber find that 1-2tenths they are lacking over Ferrari and for Kubica to stay and show he is the best driver in F1(as many of us already know anyway)
  • To be honest I don't know but it's bloody lovely to see a Finnish name sticking out amongst all the yank teenage angst that is YA,

(I'm English but a bit of a Finland obsessive).
  • By the end of 2009 so much could have changed because of the new aero packages etc Honda could be at the front, Red Bull and Renault could be doing well too.

With regards to replacing Kimi in 2009, my money would be on Vettel.
  • I think McLaren will keep Heikki. He's been doing well, and I say that without comparing him to any one else. He's a very good driver to have, because he can adapt and is willing to learn. Plus he is an easygoing teammate, he doesn't cause problems and he is actually very talented.

Kubica could be heading to Ferrari. Either way, he will do very well. He's a very excellent driver and his debut year itself was already impressive. Kimi may be retiring, but he hasn't confirmed anything yet or decided yet. I think he might stay at Ferrari though, who knows. If he still has a contract with them. Alonso... Ferrari already said they wouldn't sign him on but things could change.

And what you said: "yeah I couldn't see Kubica racing for Ferrari personally", true, but he definitely has got what it takes. I am pretty sure BMW has a very tight grip on him...
  • I think Heikki is the perfect teammate for Lewis. He's good enough to contribute to the overall points scoring for the team but doesn't really pose a big threat to Lewis which is what they really want. He should stay at Mclaren for another year or two and bring all that experience to another team that will fully appreciate him.
  • Do U like my nascar song?

    May be...

  • I LOVE it Zalex, so I give it a 2. I just wish I knew what it ment. You are not gay are you?

  • Did you and the Matty Kenseth fan have a pre-pubescent lover's quarrel?
    And the plot thickens..
  • This was never the way I planned
    Not my intention
I got so brave, root beer in hand
    Lost my discretion
It's not what, I'm used to
    Just wanna try you on
    I'm curious for you
    Caught my attention

I kissed a Matt kenseth and I liked it
    The taste of his lips
I kissed a Matt kenseth just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
    It felt so wrong
    It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a Matt kenseth and I liked it
    I liked it

yes, I so know your name
    It doesn't matter
    Your my experimental game
    Just human nature
It's not what, good girls do
    Not how they should behave
    My head gets so confused
    Hard to obey

Us Kenseth fans we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
    Hard to resist so touchable
    Too good to deny it
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent
