How can you expect NASCAR to controll the rain? These events have to be planned months or years in advance. Do you have the phone# to mother nature , if so maybe you should pass it on to Nascar. Well they changed races once before for weather and it still messed up things look at California wash out.....That is one thing NASCAR cant have control over but fake cautions are the specialty.... im with jack but u see God controls rain nascar doesnt and it really doesnt matter jeff gordon iz gonna win anyway????????? What can they do? The best thing anyone could think of was to build a dome over the track, but we figured it would cost way too much money. You think ticket prices are high now? I'd hate to see what they'd be like if they put a dome over the track! how? govern the rain? Cant do anything about Mother Nature-- Why pick on Nascar--MLB has many rain outs as well as Soccer-Track and Field Events and other sports cancel because of Weather !!!!!! The race will happen today. Just give it a few hours. how the hell are they suppose to know when its gonna rain. they race 36 out of 52 weeks maybe you should plan the race schedule for next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... nascar cant stop rain buddy!!!! Nascar can not help if the weather turns bad during a race. They plan them when the weather is going to be nice and no one can predict a weather change. Wow..... The fact that this is even a thread shows the sheer ignorance of some people. Did you really ask this ? LOL

nit the weather I think NASCAR goes above and beyond most sporting events. If it rains today, race tomorrow, and so on and so on. At least they don't just cancel the race all together, or reschedule it for a month or three months down the road. (though they will do that too IF they can't get it in at all) Rain can't be controlled, and let's face it.....it IS the rainiest time of the year! The schedules are made far in advance. How can NASCAR-or any sanctioning body for that matter-predict or control the weather? Lack of planning and foresight once at the track is another matter. I'd say it'd be a good thing if NASCAR held races only on rain out days. Yes they should build a giant domed racetrack somewhere then when it rains they have a back up plan.

Lewis will be going for it this year, hope he doesn`t try too hard and lose it i think robert will over take lewis. i think massa will struggle. also i think alonso will be unhappy. and kimi well he will be on the podium :) Hamilton will win it with Kovalainen second. I think massa will be 3rd with kubica 4th. Raikkonen will probaly struggle into the top 10 and Alonso will finish around 13-15th France can still beat Wales!
As for the F1 race, i also think robert will overtake lewis, vettel will do well if fhis car doesn't break down and Kimi will be stuck behind Alonso until he pits. Should be a good race! Well as far as i thought tomorrow will be the day for McLaren. Both Lewis and Heikki will finish 1-2. Ferrai can challange them but if Kimi drove well. Robert can threat for both McLaren and Ferrari sato will win

yeah I know, I'm mad, but hey nutter by name nutter by nature. I stayed up for quali today too. Hawwns...morning I live in Japan,so no need to wake up early..Australia is only 2 hours infront of our time... I certainly won't be getting up early for ANYTHING, least of all F1 ! - sky plus it, watch when you get up+ fast forward itvs' near constant adverts! I will probably end up doing that. Was just going to watch qualifying repeat, but I was up just before the live one, so I just taped that (ended up watching most of it, though!).
I will set the tape for the live version - I hate when ITV cut bits out of it, even if it is only an interview or a bit of the after-race chat - I like to see it all!
But, knowing me, I will probably not be able to wait, plus I am sick of the morning news blabbing out the winner before the re-run, takes away the excitement! So, I reckon I will be up in time to see the race (I hope!) yes i will be tuned in and turned on i try not to miss any of it watching replays highlights loses the drama and have to say i'm behind lewis again this season

I see Autosport has yet again become the Hamilton fanzine ! You bet! I'm buzzing (in more way then 1). Only 1 hr 30 Min's until the coverage starts. My other half is reading in bed and I'm sat here with my Lewis Hamilton's St George cross flag draped over the sofa. GO LEWIS!!!!!!!!!! Yep, i'll be doing my usual routine of the last decade; Large sweet black coffee at 12 and lots of bad 'cop chasing criminals' tv shows to make me laugh and keep me hyper.

Don't think I'll be up at 3am for the race - I'll catch the rerun later I'll be up watching it. Its been 4 months since the last race and I cant wait for the new season to start. The re-runs are 12 hours later but I could'nt wait that long.
Mclaren 1 2 well well well, now you know what it takes to be a dedicated american f1 fan. for us the race starts at 11:00 pm tomorrow night and i will be there with the coffee brewing i will b, i live here.lol Oh yeah you can count me in too!!! I got hooked on F1 in 1996 and never missed a live quali or race yet. I would be ready to kill if I heard the result before watching a race. It must be soul destroying to tune in 5 minutes too early on a re-run and catch the result on the news. Why do they do that? I sit there all smug because I've already seen it and ready to watch it again.
I'm a female in my 40's and my mates think I'm completely mad for even watching it, but my world stops for F1.

As for pole, I wouldn't be surprised to see an all red front row with Kimi heading the grid (even though I'm not a Ferrari fan). I'm not scared of staying up late to watch hamilton rinse the grid!! Speedtv in the states will show it at 10:00 PM my time and I'm wide awake to watch! I object to your question about "Stupid" o'clock.
Having said that, either I will stay up and watch it here in the States on the East coast on Speed-late Saturday into early Sunday morning-but if I can't stay up, I will tape it and watch it later.

It's mother nature dear I'm a diehard fan and this rain is really making me mad every week, do you think Nascar's rain protocol is right with the halfway point, a Monday race, and no ticket refund? They should make the scheldule and then move every race... up or back a week !! BUT ??..... Nope, he doesn't. No, God is not a hater......I think Mother Nature has been alittle confuzzled lately though!!!!

The rain policy does stink...IMO. I would rather they not start the race at all if looks like it is going to rain, and run the race on Monday. I watch it every Race!!!!!! My hubby whines starting Friday nites when I can watch qualifying sometimes through the end of all the practices, qualifyings, and races on Sunday evening. I've strongly suggested he get himself another t.v. and another satellite hook up but it seems he'd rather whine. I am a NASCAR junkie. My wife is almost one or she fakes it. She makes sure the race is on with or without guest. I have a cooler of beer next to my chair and a do not disturb unless you watch NASCAR on the door. YES I WATCH NASCAR!!!!!!!! I love Nascar Racing. My favorite driver is Dale Jr. for the most part, this is the nascar page and we love nascar I am a older women and have 3 grown children plus grandchildren we all love Nascar, myself and my children big Dale Jr fans, my Grandson Jeff Gorden, there is a lot more to the sport than just going around the track in circles. There are thousand and thousand of people who watch every moment of the sport, so it can't be that boring, plus look at the money it generate in ticket sales, model cars, posters, shirts and jackets the list can go on and on. If your Mother doesn't enjoy it so be it , there are other channels to watch on another TV. Enjoy Show your mom the tv ratings and ticket sales for a Nascar race on any given Sunday. It's one of the most popular spectator sports in this country and there's a reason! I LOVE NASCAR BUT I DONT LIKE JEFF GORDON...EEWWW!!! I LOVE DENNY, TONY, KYLE, KACIE......REALLY I LOVE ALL OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SO GIVING TO ALL THE CHARITY'S. I GO TO TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY EVERY YEAR AND THIS YEAR TALLADAGA HERE I COME. I'm from Atlanta and I live it twice a year. Of course we watch it. NASCAR racing is one of the best motorsports on this planet. Just be nice to you mom when she makes negative comments about you watching NASCAR racing. And just tell her you like all the technology of motorsports and it's conquering of man over machine, in a form of competition. Your mom doesnt know what she is missing. Nascar is great.

I love nascar, my friend says the same to me, she doesn't understand how I watch cars go around in circles. I also live in Indiana and I also love to go to the brickyard, I have been going for the last 4 years and I am very disappointed because I am going to have to miss this year. (My due date is one day before the race)

There are around 300 million cars in the US many of which are driven every day. Compare that to the few thousand cars racing in the entire country once a week. The amount of gas saved would amount to almost nothing. No.The price would remain at it's higher price.The percentage of oil used in racing is small compaired to the airlines and daily traffic. You really think that is a serious question? If you think like that, no wonder you don't know the answers. No. Motorsports have no influx on the price of crude oil. Only the consumption by the public. If everyone quit driving their cars, gas prices would go down real quick. the price of crude is based on futures and not how much nascar is using...you want to lower the price, talk to the people that bargain with it IF for some reason car racing be it Nascar or be it the Daytona 500 or anything else were to forever stop (OK I know this would never happen----but for sake of supposing) would the price of crude oil drop drastically? Would anyone or has anyone put certian rules on these cars and racers to make things more friendly for the environment?
Hey Nascar fans I have nothing against you and all but this is a serious question as I don't know the answer! No!! It wont drop a Penny!!!!!! Most run on different fuel anyway. Would make no difference. When you look at the millions of cars on the road what would taking a few hundred (or thousand) at the most cars do?
Price of crude will never drop drastically. The Arabs are going to make us pay through the nose. the biggest user of fuel in the USA is the Air Force. I live near a AFB, and they are constantly circling the runway,with fuel guzzling airplanes, to keep in practice. I have heard they have a fuel allocation, and if they don't use it all, they receive less next year. So....they keep the storage tanks empty.
On the other hand....Go Air Force and all Military.. keep us safe, we appreciate what you do. No it would not change things. The fuel they use is not even a drop in the bucket compared to US consumption. If they stopped Nascar racing the price of crude oil wouldn't make it drop. Think about it, really sit back and think. Do you think it would make a difference? Nascar is changing the fuel little bit by little bit. They are running unleaded fuel now. IRL uses ethanol. What Nascar is doing doesn't make that big of a impact on the environment. No but if YOU would car pool or take the bus or not run to the mall 3 times a week, that might help!!! No. Studies have shown that if you took out all the oil/gas NASCAR uses, it would only be a small dent. NASCAR racing will not change the price of oil. The people can. Nope!
If your referring to the emissions that the cars put off? your talking of only 45 to 50 cars in practice or qualifying as opposed to the whole world.
I doubt it! The US consumes about 834,000 barrels of oil an hour. (20,000,000 barrels/day) About 51.4 percent of a barrel results in refined gasoline.
One 500 mile race consumes about 165 to 175 barrels.
(Computed using average of 5 mpg /car for 43 cars and 26 gallons from a barrel)
Transporting the cars and practice probably consumes another 2000 barrels.
That's a little more than 80,000 barrels per year, but of course some of the diesel fuel comes from some of the same barrels as the racing fuel. I digress, just trying to make a point!
Over the course of the 10 month season, the US consumes 6,000,000,000 barrels, so NASCAR uses 0.001333% of the total. So, for every 1000 gallons of gas you might consume you could save 1.33 cents, theoretically.
Don't spend it all in one place! NASCAR does not burn enough fuel to make a difference in the OPEC pricing.
NASCAR does try to be environmentally friendly, but there is only so much you can do with a race car.
Legit question though. NASCAR and Daytona 500 are the same thing.

I think if the President stopped being the personal bee-otch of Saudi Arabia, we might have some progress. Most race cars don't rely on typical Gasoline products derived from Crude Oil - so the answer to your question is NO.
The reason OIL prices are high is for many factors, and cutting back on Racing - be it nascar, f1, ALMS or other types of racing is not going to make even the smallest dent the price of oil.
Oil prices are high because the US and China suck so much of it up in regular automobiles, production of manufactured products and in everything we do. None whatsoever! The price of crude oil doesnt have anything to do with Nascar. Sorry to bust your bubble. I don`t know what makes you think the prices would change just because SUNOCO is the sponsor that doesn`t mean the fuel is free & as regular consumers we are not picking up the tab for Racing unless we buy a ticket to the race. I live in St. Louis, the 13th largest city in the U.S.
All of the drivers combined here alone, drive a total of 504,000,000 miles in ONE WEEK!
43 race cars in a 500 mile race, race a combined mileage of 21,500 miles on a Sunday afternoon.
Using 25 miles per gallon for st. louis drivers, that's 20,160,000 gallons burned per week. Using 5 mpg for Nascar, that's 4300 gallons burned per week. That's quite a HUGE margin.
As far as pollution goes, all professional racing series are exempt from the Clean Air Act of 1979.
But don't be mad at them, trains, planes, construction cranes, earth moving equipment etc. etc. are also exempt.
Pretty much anything that's illegal to drive on a public highway is exempt including gas lawn mowers.
Another interesting note is tires. I work for the largest retail tire dealer in the state of MO. We have 38 stores. Last year, we sold right at 1,000,000 tires to the public and wholesale accounts.

Price of crude will never drop drastically. The Arabs are going to make us pay through the nose. NASCAR racing will not change the price of oil. The people can. The US consumes about 834,000 barrels of oil an hour. (20,000,000 barrels/day) About 51.4 percent of a barrel results in refined gasoline.
One 500 mile race consumes about 165 to 175 barrels.

Transporting the cars and practice probably consumes another 2000 barrels.
That's a little more than 80,000 barrels per year, but of course some of the diesel fuel comes from some of the same barrels as the racing fuel. I digress, just trying to make a point!
Over the course of the 10 month season, the US consumes 6,000,000,000 barrels, so NASCAR uses 0.001333% of the total. So, for every 1000 gallons of gas you might consume you could save 1.33 cents, theoretically.
Don't spend it all in one place! You really think that is a serious question? If you think like that, no wonder you don't know the answers. No. Motorsports have no influx on the price of crude oil. Only the consumption by the public. If everyone quit driving their cars, gas prices would go down real quick. Most run on different fuel anyway. the biggest user of fuel in the USA is the Air Force. I live near a AFB, and they are constantly circling the runway,with fuel guzzling airplanes, to keep in practice. I have heard they have a fuel allocation, and if they don't use it all, they receive less next year. So....they keep the storage tanks empty.
On the other hand....Go Air Force and all Military.. keep us safe, we appreciate what you do. IF for some reason car racing be it Nascar or be it the Daytona 500 or anything else were to forever stop (OK I know this would never happen----but for sake of supposing) would the price of crude oil drop drastically? Would anyone or has anyone put certian rules on these cars and racers to make things more friendly for the environment?

No but if YOU would car pool or take the bus or not run to the mall 3 times a week, that might help!!! the price of crude is based on futures and not how much nascar is using...you want to lower the price, talk to the people that bargain with it No.

All of the drivers combined here alone, drive a total of 504,000,000 miles in ONE WEEK!
43 race cars in a 500 mile race, race a combined mileage of 21,500 miles on a Sunday afternoon.
Using 25 miles per gallon for st. louis drivers, that's 20,160,000 gallons burned per week. Using 5 mpg for Nascar, that's 4300 gallons burned per week. That's quite a HUGE margin.
As far as pollution goes, all professional racing series are exempt from the Clean Air Act of 1979.
But don't be mad at them, trains, planes, construction cranes, earth moving equipment etc. etc. are also exempt.
Pretty much anything that's illegal to drive on a public highway is exempt including gas lawn mowers.
Another interesting note is tires. I work for the largest retail tire dealer in the state of MO. We have 38 stores. Last year, we sold right at 1,000,000 tires to the public and wholesale accounts.

Think about it, really sit back and think. Do you think it would make a difference? Nascar is changing the fuel little bit by little bit. They are running unleaded fuel now. IRL uses ethanol. What Nascar is doing doesn't make that big of a impact on the environment. Most race cars don't rely on typical Gasoline products derived from Crude Oil - so the answer to your question is NO.
The reason OIL prices are high is for many factors, and cutting back on Racing - be it nascar, f1, ALMS or other types of racing is not going to make even the smallest dent the price of oil.
Oil prices are high because the US and China suck so much of it up in regular automobiles, production of manufactured products and in everything we do. NASCAR and Daytona 500 are the same thing.
I really don't think if NASCAR stopped the price of crude oil would drop dramatically.
I think if the President stopped being the personal bee-otch of Saudi Arabia, we might have some progress. I don`t know what makes you think the prices would change just because SUNOCO is the sponsor that doesn`t mean the fuel is free & as regular consumers we are not picking up the tab for Racing unless we buy a ticket to the race. NASCAR does not burn enough fuel to make a difference in the OPEC pricing.
NASCAR does try to be environmentally friendly, but there is only so much you can do with a race car.

If your referring to the emissions that the cars put off? your talking of only 45 to 50 cars in practice or qualifying as opposed to the whole world.

No.The price would remain at it's higher price.The percentage of oil used in racing is small compaired to the airlines and daily traffic. No it would not change things. The fuel they use is not even a drop in the bucket compared to US consumption. No it wouldn't.
There are around 300 million cars in the US many of which are driven every day. Compare that to the few thousand cars racing in the entire country once a week. The amount of gas saved would amount to almost nothing. No. Studies have shown that if you took out all the oil/gas NASCAR uses, it would only be a small dent.

it is what it is They seem excessive. NASCAR wants to punish teams with violations severely so they won't do it again. Edwards was 42nd last week and I wonder if Osborne had been there if things would have been different. Edwards went from first to out of the top twelve in one race. Roush has attached a wire to make sure that the oil lid will stay on if the fastener fails again. The car had it on at the start of the race and it came off. Otherwise Edwards would have passed out from the fumes. Roush is not appealing because NASCAR rarely reverses decisions. A deliberate violation by anyone later in the year would have to be more severe and they may get into suspending a driver for a number of races because of the harsh penalties on Edwards for a minor, race caused infraction. I wish they would have fined the team more. They would have deserved it. Yes I do , they penalized other teams at Daytona & they got caught in pre- race inspections , Carl got caught in post- race inspections . They should have taken the win away, not just points& $$$. Maybe they will start putting lockwashers on those bolts ,they cost a lot less. Yes I do and in my opinion its what the team deserves.

NASCAR caught the team in post-race inspection with an illegality. Intent-which some people argue-is irrelvant. It is against NASCAR rules. Roush Fenway Racing and the #99 team were fined, docked points and penalized with the loss of Osborne and to me the fines were perfectly legitimate. As to passing pre-race and then being OK, that would just be an open gate to altering the car after pre-race inspection and cheating would be rampant! Of course I do, why would the fines lie. All kidding aside, he may of got off a little easy in light of the fact that it is looking more and more that it was intentional. Roush/Fenway is not appealing the penalties so that tends to suggest that they know they got caught this time. I'm not throwing stones (I'm an HMS fan) and don't think less of the 99 team, they ALL do it from time to time. If he hadn't raced the car the fines would have been in line with other COT infractions but his "alteration" got used during the race in which he won. NASCAR needs to strip the win and points if they want to discourage this from happening in the future. Just my opinion. It's BS because they can't even tell when the oil cap fell off...hell for all they know it could have fallen off during his burnout, or on the trip to victory lane. It for me was him winning the 500 with his Dad calling him home to the finish line. That was priceless!
Another moment that was not historical or nothing but It was at Bristol and I dont remember what year or if it was cup or Busch but when Shane Hmeil(This was right before he got suspended for drug use) wrecked DJ pretty hard and it put DJ out of the race, when Dale got out of his car he went to Shane Hmeil car(It was red Flagged) out on the track in turn 4 and stuck his hand in Hmeils car shaking his fist and pointing his finger is his face, then after DJ walks away Shane gives DJ the bird. It was hilarious. I wished DJ would have put a knot on that kids head. When he won the Daytona 500 with his dad Ned Jarrett calling it in the booth, I was at the race it was great. I had to watch the replay when I got home as my room mate taped the race it was great to see it on TV, I never get tired of it..Ned and Dale are two great legends of Nascar and just great all around good guys.. anyone where he doesn't suck as bad as he does now. he was great but at least he is getting out now, cause after this race he should be out of champions provisionals and then it would be another wasted season.
i was a big fan and love what he has done with his camp but maybe kyle petty should let chad mccumbee run that car full time and take a hint form dale He's had some great wins, but the one that I won't forget is his last win at Talladega. Great come from behind win that reminded me very much of a famous guy that drove a black car. I think mine is his last win at Talledega, when he got out of his car and got the checkered flag. I thought that was cool. Being at Michigan International Speedway and watching DJ win in August 2002. Mine has to be when he won the 1999 Championship! I was a BIG fan of his then so I really enjoyed that! Racin' ain't gonna be the same with out Dale Jarrett there! I am going to cry Sunday I feel it coming on right now! I do believe the COT is part of the equation and not a lack of talent. Remember how awful JPM was last year even in the "old" car except on road courses? Remember all the wrecks he caused? He didn't exactly make a brilliant entrance into NASCAR either although he did show signs of it at times. This new car has to be tough. We see even the regulars having a difficult time. Remember how bad Roush was last year with the COT. Look at them this year! I think the learning curve for the rookies coming from open-wheel is a lot steeper than they thought. Let's re-evaluate them with four races left in the season and see how they are doing. montoya and franchitti will never win in nascar . they know that is real hard . they should go back to f1 . montoya is doing a good job holding others drivers and causing accidents.. rookies 100%. Not only was the timing off w/ the COT being brought in full time, but they all have one common factor as well.. DODGE! Which has improved, but lets face it.. they STILL have some work to do.
Dario is on a struggling Gannassi team that may be a distant memory sooner than later. Chip may just be an open wheel guy in the next couple of years. Even Montoya and Sorenson are running like field fillers.
Sam Hornish I am a little surprised about.. but when I think about it.. I shouldn't be. He's on a struggling Penske team that has almost turned the curve w/ that #12 team, but the #2 is still a little behind, and if you followed NASCAR over the last years you'd know that the #77 car has a horrible history as well.. (IE Brendan Gaughan)
Carpentier (again) is on a struggling GEM team, that has showed improvement w/ Kasey but Sadler is flopping like a fish out of water in this new car, and Patricks days may be numbered already. No feel for the car, not enough seat time, and not making shows isn't a good way to kick off the season.
And Villenueve.. I guess sponsor woes have stopped him from trying to progress in CUP but it all boils down to him not having a great understanding of the COT and not being able to run competitively enough to make the shows. I think he will be back in the future.
All these guys need more seat time in other series. (IE Nationwide, Trucks, or ARCA) They need to get a feel for these races, the different type of cars, and get some chemistry built with a crew chief that can understand what they are saying about the car and correctly adjust it. Until then, they shouldn't be in the CUP series full time. (Being outside the top35 after the 4th race of the season is EXACTLY why I say this) What Sally B said. yes it is slim pic kins, but the competition is so tough that they are all struggling. Regan Smith would be better if he where with a good team like Hms, or Gem, or Rcr. in fact i think he would do great. I like Regan Smith and Dario. Simple.
They are rookies in a field where the competion is as even as it has ever been.
It is going to be very interesting to watch this top 35 battle throughout the season. Has anyone else noticed that the four rookies this year (Hornish, Franchitti, Carpentier, and Villenueve), all of whom are accomplished open wheel drivers, are all sitting outside of the top 35 in points this year? Are the cars REALLY that different, and did they pick a bad year to move to NASCAR with the COT; or were they all overrated in open wheel due to the lack of competition in their respective divisions? Keep in mind that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon both where open wheel racers originally, and both have won NASCAR championships. Even Robby Gordon has shown flashes of brilliance between his typical flashes of ineptitude. I can't remember a year when ALL of the rookie class was ranked this low....thoughts, anyone?? You can't blame 'em. They joined NASCAR just when NASCAR debuts a new harder to drive car. If the difficulty curve from going from an open wheel car to a NASCAR wasn't difficult enough. It is Harder to Drive a Stock Car that Is Heavier than Openwheel Cars and the Fact that The Tires are Narrower on Stock Cars. Not to Mention that the Stock Cars have the Engines up front= Less rear end weight over Open wheel Cars. It is not as easy as These Drivers are finding Out.-- I wish F-1 and Open wheel fans could Understand these basic principals!!!!!!!

I think that letting him go was a necessary move, & one that will turn out to be in the best interest of everyone involved...This way everyone is satisfied with the way things are, & the season won't be filled with complaining & people feeling they are misunderstood & being taken advantage of.. looks to me everything is working out just fine Long way to go yet...Go Harvick!!! I think Kyle fits in better at JGR. I was concerned at first because I'm not a big fan of Tony or Denny, but Joe Gibbs was the coach of a very successful football team, and really knows how to deal with all the personality quirks and egos of an athlete. - And yes, they are athletes! - Rowdy doesn't have to try to be someone he's not, a cookie cutter version of Jeff and Jimmie.
I think everyone ends up winning on this one, and I think this situation went a long way in helping Kyle to mature a bit. Well, Kyle really hasn't proved anything in NASCAR. 3 years, and 5 wins. That's respectful, but what does it mean? I dislike Jr., but at least Jr. will be respectful in this type of team chemistry. Jr. has more fans. Jr. tears up less equipment, and his knowledge in the sport is pretty good to. He doesn't get frustrated, or cry when something goes wrong. He can admit his mistakes. So in my opinion, see you later scrub or schrub or whatever, I'll take the southern boy of Jr. on my team any day. You have to think of each car and driver like a race horse and jockey, you have to find the right jockey for a certin horse, and Hendrick gave Kyle the wrong horse. Everyone's Kyle Busch crazy right now, but we're only 4 races into the season. Hendrick shall rise again! lol Kyle is doing better with Joe Gibbs. It sometimes takes the right fit to make it work! I am going to ask the same question again!
Now that Kyle Busch has won his first race and the way that DW has been talking about how he is going to win the championship this year, should they just crown him now? Should they crown him for the truck and nationwide series while they are at too?
Everyone is saying that Hendrick is kicking himself over having let Kyle go, I dont really think he is. I know that Busch would have been way more unhappy than what he is now and as a result of being unhappy he would not be where he is in the points and I believe that he would have been miserable. Do you think that it was the right move by Hendrick to let Kyle go? I will go so far as to say dont include Dale Jr in the argument because Busch's contract would have been up at the end of this year any how and I think that he would have went to a different team any how. Kyle just didnt fit in at Hendrick plain and simple. I dont think Rick wanted to have to pick the pieces after Kyle mad a mess of things. Rick Hendrick made a real god investment by signing junior, look at all the money he will make because of Junior and not Kyle. Bad decsion...no...as far as it goes though not saying JR?...can you..even those who hate JR...you have him in your stable (along with johnson and gordon), the money the fans, the drama....what else could you want in a team...id much rather have JR as the face of my organization as opposed to a overrated cocky, disrespectful driver...and i have to agree that people are saying alot about lil busch after 4 races....you race three series at the same track...you better win...and as far as other drivers...listen to some of the past interviews from truck and nat. drivers...they DO NOT LIKE/RESPECT Busch at all....i would be surprised if he finishes in the top ten at Bristol...let alone win the championship.... I think Kyle and HMS were going to part ways not matter what. I think it's a better fit all the way around the way it is now. I think both Busch and Jr. feel more at home where they are now. As for the championship it's way to early to tell who will win this year. With the cars being made more the same and with the improvements all the teams have been making, I think we may be in for several lead changes and a lot closer points race all together. To make a long story short and without saying JR's name, it was a bad decision to let Kyle go!!! Hendrick made a mistake but Busch didn't want to be there. It just shows that it was Hendrick that was the problem, not Busch. I hope that Kyle does great and shows Hendrick that he can drive, he made a mistake and you get what you pay for. It is WAY too early to crown anyone a NASCAR champion. We as Americans love instant gratification and are prone to thinking "oh, someone's doing well, let's anoint them..now." That's really sad. My suggestion is to just wait and see how things turn out.
As for Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports kicking themselves for letting Kyle Busch go, that is speculation rather than facts, and I would suspect that most of those who write that are Kyle Busch fans. I think a lot of the decision to let Kyle go had to do with chemistry. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and Casey Mears are all fierce competitors but also pretty laid-back personalities, while Kyle Busch seems something of the opposite. Was letting Kyle go the right decision at Hendrick Motorsports? Only time will tell. This seems to happen fairly often. A promising young driver has a little success and the next thing you know he's the driver to beat for the championship. I will believe it when I see it, after they take the checkered flag at Homestead. Kyle is a great driver and the move benefitted him AND Hendrick Motorsports. Everybody wants there to be a winner and loser in this deal but I think it was best for all parties concerned. Getting rid of Kyle had nothing to do with his ability and if Jr wasn't a good fit at HMS Rick wouldn't have brought him into the fold just because of his name and marketability. The JGR fans are counting an awful lot of chickens based on 4 races. If the eggs hatch out they will have plenty to eat but if they don't they might have to eat crow instead. It was the best move for all involved.
Jr. is a better fit with Hendrick than Kyle was. Kyle is a great fit at Gibbs and will win more.

And Hendrick is rolling in Dough off of Jr!!!!!! Nope. They can't crown him now. He hasn't won the championship yet. I said last year that HMS should have kept Kyle Busch as he has more talent than Jr.
The season will prove me correct. I hate to keep repeating this but Kyle was let go because of his attitude. Hendrick specifically said it was not because of his performance. What part of that is so hard to understand?
The other thing is Kyle was shocked to be let go and readjusted his attitude because of that. Gibbs has an edge in power at the moment and that is part of what is happening. Things will even out over the course of the season. If I had to bet on the championship between Kyle and Jr I would bet on Jr. Oops, sorry I mentioned the J word.

I'm not talking about tire testing! Goodyear changed the compound after the teams tested at Atlanta! The tire testing was done first. This caused all the teams a problem. They spent a lot of money and time testing with a different tire than they raced on. Making all of their data useless. This is the reason for the problem last weekend! Nascar should make it a policy that the tires used in team testing will be the same tires used during the race! That would solve the problem, but I bet Nascar doesn't do it!!! They say they want to save teams money, then why would they let them test on one tire and then let goodyear bring a different one for the race? It's just another Nascar control issue!!! if it mean safer racing... yes.. Nascar know whats best for the drivers in this case it was safety. They would rather make there "data" useless then have a class A driver be killed at the hands of goodyear No, they should get it right the first time. No its not right but a necessary evil. But if they missed the tire pick that bad for the test that they have to change it what makes them think they can get it right the second time? No that is really wrong. Dale Jr said "One week isn't enough time to change the car for a different tire than what we tested," and every other team had too much trouble trying to keep the car on the track to be able to race each other. Every car finished the race with the paint scraped off of the right side from rubbing the wall. I don't think that is safer at all. It definitely didn't make for good racing. No it is not Right!!!!!! no stewart was right The problem is the COT and its higher roll center more than the tire. Yes, Goodyear should have stayed with the compound they tested with, which they obviously didn't do, but the new car is going to be more abusive on any compound because of its higher center of gravity. But NASCAR has tied the hands of the teams so they can't deal effectively with problems like were evident at Atlanta, and we saw the result...a boring race!! People will differ, let's just say the a week before the race switching the tire was a no win for most drivers. All of the in car communications and post race for the most part was about the tire, only differing opinions so far seem to have come from Mike Waltrip, Carl Edwards and Chad Knaus who say it is the car not the tire...I still say that changing the tire a week before the race is not adequate time to adjust to what they had to deal with. Who knows what Goodyear or NASCAR was thinking. They both messed up bad. Last falls practice was a huge waste of time and money for everybody involved.
To make it even worse neither could tell us why they made that change. Goodyear sent a marketing manager who probably couldn't tell you anymore about that tire than the average person. At least send an engineer who could tell you what the actual problem was and what they were hoping the changes would do.
From the driver comments it sounds as though the teams were happy with that they tested with last fall. Now they show up with a different tire that nobody liked, couldn't race with, and almost every car hit the wall at least one. Then the problem is if they test on a tire, and something happens with that tire a bunch during the race under the scenario you presented, then the complaints will roll in that NASCAR and Goodyear did not do enough to try and provide a safe racing tire.
NASCAR and Goodyear did all they can do, all Goodyear can do is to try and make a tire that can work better on the COT Not right at all...changing the tires wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars that teams spent trying to collect data so that they could perform well at the track. Everything they learned had to be thrown out the window. You pretty much summed up Tony Stewarts argument.

Before reposting what others say, ask yourself about each person's question. WHY did they post what they did? I am neither a abject "he can never do wrong" fan of Kyle Busch nor do I believe that he should be burned at the stake. Kyle can be aggressive, but so can other drivers. Dale Earnhardt, Sr was aggresive but beloved. What is the difference? Again, I would ask you to think for yourself and get the facts rather than simply parrotting what others do. I'm sure someone won't like this response and downvote and/or report me, but I am at a point right now that I don't care. However, NASCAR is about the individual personalities on the track it takes all kinds to make the sport as popular as it is. If my opinion actually mattered I would suggest that NASCAR counsel Busch on his on track actions and "suggest" he make a marked attempt at driving a little less aggressively. I think he could be just as successful if cooled his jets just a tad.
As a final thought, IMHO Kyle is driving much wilder this year and it only is a matter of time before FUBARS something or someone. When he does, I am sure they will rain down hellfire and brimstone even though they should have done something to temper the situation before hand. The last couple of years I really didnt care for him, but lately it seems like he has lightened up a lot. As far as being parked by Nascar, absolutely not. I was kind of surprised on how closely he was driving with Jarrett towards the end of that race in Vegas though. Didnt make much sense to me, so instances like that maybe he should back down but he won the race and I have a feeling that it wont be his last this year. Kyle is very crazy driver, but he races within the rules and what he did to Jarrett was ok thats why they have a blue flag with yellow strip it means move over the leader is coming. Jarrett should know the rules by know. if anything what he and Waltrip did was wrong. I've read a lot of post on here the last few days, that if true, maybe Nascar should park him for a year. And if he doesn't straighten up, drive correctly, and act more like other popular drivers when he comes back, then Nascar should ban him for life!!

Tony STEWART wants decent tires to race on. Who can blame him? Wow I live in Indiana and i was unaware that Hoosier Tires was foreign... Stupid, get you facts straight. Plus I believe it's up to the veteran drivers like stewart and Gordon who are well known in this sport who's opinions can really make a difference, to speak up and get things changed.
No offense but if a mid-pack driver said something about a tire issue no one would have really cared.
But the more of those Cups you have on your trophy self really does seem to make a difference.
I think Goodyear needs to step up and try to prevent another tire war. If that happened we would need SAFER barriers around the whole track and not just the corners.

But why not put a little box with the cameras still on?? It doesn't cost any extra, the cameras are still rolling when they're at commercials anyhow. That's what's nice about Directv Hotpass. You can still watch the race when fox is at yet another commercial break. It sucks, wait till we get to ESPN, and they dont even do a 10 min post race show. Not only did they do that, they also cut away from the race to show something on their cutaway car that they could have shown during the endless pre-race show.

I'm just glad I have a Directv HD-DVR demo. I don't have to pay the BS price for Hotpass, but I still get the programming. Hotpass atleast lets you see whats going on ON-TRACK during the commercials, and listen to the driver audio on the drivers channels even during the commercial. It's better than watching the BS advertising. yeeaaaa im a stewart fan but i really wasnt happy with the whole toyota winning thing. but your right there were waaaaay too many commercials Like Ive said on here many times 1,357 Commercials per race No Matter what Network does the Televising!!!!!! Today I think it was the Tires!!!!!! It's a combination of the COT and the tires, but most of the blame will fall on Goodyear. They're bringing a safe tire to the tracks bu the problem is that the drivers cannot race against each other. There is supposed to be a Goodyear tire test at Darlington on Monday and Tuesday. Jeff Gordon,. Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman are supposed to test the tire. It'll be interesting to see what Goodyear comes up with and whether or not it fits in with Darlington Tires. GOODYEAR, came with the wrong compound...AGAIN! I agree with Smoke and Dale Jr...Goodyear, come on get it together..Its a problem Goodyr doesn't have any competition in Nascar they supply all the tires, remember Goodyear got dumped in F1, IRL,Champ Car.. I would probably drive it about 25 miles a hour as I probably would be scared stiff with all that power before me. I would probably have the slowest lap on record !!! I would definitely put the hurt on the #88 car. Maybe that might change his mind about racing!
