Bristol looks rained out, Nascar should know plan these event a lot better, what do you think?

May be...

  • How can you expect NASCAR to controll the rain? These events have to be planned months or years in advance.
  • Do you have the phone# to mother nature , if so maybe you should pass it on to Nascar.
  • Well they changed races once before for weather and it still messed up things look at California wash out.....That is one thing NASCAR cant have control over but fake cautions are the specialty....
  • im with jack but u see God controls rain nascar doesnt and it really doesnt matter jeff gordon iz gonna win anyway?????????
  • What can they do? The best thing anyone could think of was to build a dome over the track, but we figured it would cost way too much money. You think ticket prices are high now? I'd hate to see what they'd be like if they put a dome over the track!
  • how? govern the rain?
  • Cant do anything about Mother Nature-- Why pick on Nascar--MLB has many rain outs as well as Soccer-Track and Field Events and other sports cancel because of Weather !!!!!!
  • The race will happen today. Just give it a few hours.
  • how the hell are they suppose to know when its gonna rain. they race 36 out of 52 weeks maybe you should plan the race schedule for next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  • nascar cant stop rain buddy!!!!
  • Nascar can not help if the weather turns bad during a race. They plan them when the weather is going to be nice and no one can predict a weather change.
  • Wow..... The fact that this is even a thread shows the sheer ignorance of some people.
  • Did you really ask this ? LOL

    Let's hear your plan.
  • you cant controll MOther Nature
races are schudeled almost a year in advance
    nit the weather
  • I think NASCAR goes above and beyond most sporting events. If it rains today, race tomorrow, and so on and so on. At least they don't just cancel the race all together, or reschedule it for a month or three months down the road. (though they will do that too IF they can't get it in at all) Rain can't be controlled, and let's face it.....it IS the rainiest time of the year!
  • The schedules are made far in advance. How can NASCAR-or any sanctioning body for that matter-predict or control the weather? Lack of planning and foresight once at the track is another matter.
  • I'd say it'd be a good thing if NASCAR held races only on rain out days.
  • Yes they should build a giant domed racetrack somewhere then when it rains they have a back up plan.
  • What are your predictions for tomorrow's race ?

    May be...

  • 1. hamilton
    2. kubica
    3.kovalinen
    4.heidfeld
    5.raikkonen
    6.massa
    7.rosberg
    8.coulthard
  • Lewis to win!
  • Д± hope robert wД±ll over take lewД±s.
    my predictions :

    1.lewis
    2.massa or heiki
    3.heiki or kubica

Good luck to kimi ! He need to changes

    Go Iceman Go Kimi
  • i think lewis will win and maybe kovalinen will come 2nd

fastest lap raikkonen, kovalinen or hamilton
  • I think Felipe Massa will come first followed by Lewis Hamilton and third will be Robert Kubica.
  • 1. Hamilton
    2. Massa
    3. Kovalainen
    4. Kubica
    5. Raikkonen
    6. Heidfeld
    7. Trulli
    8. Webber
    The fastest lap- Raikkonen
  • Hamilton i can see it hes a quality driver and will aways support him
  • Lewis WILL win and that's all i care about. As for nedwood6 go and put your head up your ****! Why are there people like YOU posting things on nothing they understand!
  • So long as Hamilton doesn't win, better still not finish, I will be happy.
  • I think it will be as dull as usual!
  • Well, Lewis will just run off into the sun set

Massa would probably fighting for podium

and if we're lucky, we will get to see a little bit of Kimi at the back fighting past cars after cars

massa just don't like the TC-less car. Kimi was damn unfortunate, he drove very well, and that stupid fuel pump had to give up.
  • McLaren 1-2 with Kubica in third

Or I could be talking complete crap as they could all trip over each other at the first corner!

    COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  • There will be no first lap incident. Force India team will go out early in the first few laps. The winner will be either a ferrari or McClaren car.
  • Lewis will be going for it this year, hope he doesn`t try too hard and lose it
  • i think robert will over take lewis. i think massa will struggle. also i think alonso will be unhappy. and kimi well he will be on the podium :)
  • Hamilton will win it with Kovalainen second. I think massa will be 3rd with kubica 4th. Raikkonen will probaly struggle into the top 10 and Alonso will finish around 13-15th
  • France can still beat Wales!

As for the F1 race, i also think robert will overtake lewis, vettel will do well if fhis car doesn't break down and Kimi will be stuck behind Alonso until he pits. Should be a good race!
  • Well as far as i thought tomorrow will be the day for McLaren. Both Lewis and Heikki will finish 1-2. Ferrai can challange them but if Kimi drove well. Robert can threat for both McLaren and Ferrari
  • sato will win
    jenson second
    davidson third
    lol

nothing is predictable in F1, if it was we would all be millionaires:-)

seriously now I think the top 3 will still be the top three but I don't know which order.
  • lewis win
  • Kimi and Hamilton on podium ...not sure about who else will be with them on the podium...
  • 1. Massa
    2. Hamilton
    3. Kubica
    4. Kovalainen
    5. Heidfeld
    6. Raikkonen
    7. Rosberg
    8. Alonso
  • Who will (like me) get up early and watch the start of the F1 season live on TV from OZ?

    May be...

  • I live in the USA so that means Sunday morning 12:00 AM! Can't wait! I finally am getting my TV today and I am going to tape all the qualifying/races!

    Woooo F1 is my life!
  • yes, I will be watching.Cant wait
  • Whatever is the country, I do that on every single race since I was 7year old.
It's the only way, don't believe in recording is good, imagine someone calls you (phone), come to the door, or you need to go to the shop and somebody tells you what happened? - No way I'll do that he he.
    Formula One Forever.
    Have a star.
  • my mum won't let me :(
  • No I won't be getting up early I'M STAYING UP!!!!!!!
yeah I know, I'm mad, but hey nutter by name nutter by nature. I stayed up for quali today too.
  • Hawwns...morning
  • I live in Japan,so no need to wake up early..Australia is only 2 hours infront of our time...
  • I certainly won't be getting up early for ANYTHING, least of all F1 ! -
  • sky plus it, watch when you get up+ fast forward itvs' near constant adverts!
  • I will probably end up doing that. Was just going to watch qualifying repeat, but I was up just before the live one, so I just taped that (ended up watching most of it, though!).

I will set the tape for the live version - I hate when ITV cut bits out of it, even if it is only an interview or a bit of the after-race chat - I like to see it all!

But, knowing me, I will probably not be able to wait, plus I am sick of the morning news blabbing out the winner before the re-run, takes away the excitement! So, I reckon I will be up in time to see the race (I hope!)
  • yes i will be tuned in and turned on i try not to miss any of it watching replays highlights loses the drama and have to say i'm behind lewis again this season
  • Who is the best songs of nascar?

    May be...

  • Ladies and Gentlemen by Saliva.
  • Last year they had the "Born to be Wild" theme song, I thought that was awesome!

This year's country song "Let's go racing Boys" sucks. NASCAR is crazy and fun they need a little Kid Rock to pump people up I think.

    Fun, Loud & Fast. NASCAR.
  • Hey Steffy, I agree they need Kid Rock to do a song, he'd get everybody rockin, jumpin and excited heck even rappin.. I did like the Hinder last yr with the Stepenwolf Born to Be wild song,..Aerosmith is great also that they use.,,Yep we need someone to kick us up a notch..Dont; get me wrong I love Brooks and Dunn and Garth Brooks but not all Nascar fans are country fans
  • There are lots of jammin Nascar songs!!! I like Brooks & Dunn, im a country girl..... great for 2 steppin or line dancing....but i also like all the rock....it kinda fits better.......fast jammin songs for Fast Jammin Race Cars!!!!

    GO HARVICK & RCR!!!
  • People aren't songs. You believe who are BROOKS AND DUNN? Seriously - go to school.
  • I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE BROOKS AND DUNN! THEY LOVE DALE E.SR!
  • What car will Jr. drive at Bristol this weekend?

    May be...

  • A HMS car but he won't win.

It will be 67 for the #88
  • The National Guard Chevy. Here's a link to a picture from today http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/photo?slu...
  • He will drive the National Guard Chevy with AMP being the associate this week. To view what sponsorship Jr will carry in all races, just visit his website dalejr.com and navigate to the race section page.
  • The National Guard Paint Scheme!!!!!
  • a racecar is my guess

he cant drive the pace car because someone already has that job.
  • Hey he has won there before coming from 30th place..and I'm with Boris Said he picked him to win on Nascar now last night....He will be in the National Guard car this weekend with Amp as secondary sponsor...Love to see him win.. With qualifying being rained out...its a crap shoot.. Win it for the soldiers......Go Dale Jr..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • The National Guard Car was the one he was driving in the abbreviated practice
  • He'll be driving Gordy Boys ''07'' car,with the Natl.Guard paint scheme !!
  • the losing car ..he he... Go Harvick!!!
  • The 88 national gaurd
  • doesn't matter he want win...
  • Nat.guard on hood this week
  • Nothing against"Dale"Jr.,but who care's what car he'll be driving this weekend or what he'll be wearing! There's 42 other drivers out there and i'm not interested in #20 #24 #48 #88 if you get my drift!!!!!!!!!!
  • This weekend will be The National Guard paint scheme......

    GO HARVICK & RCR!!!!
  • He will be driving a car in circles..really, really fast to..
  • 14.3.08

Who is staying up until stupid O'clock to watch the Australian GP quali?

    May be...

  • Be worth staying up to see McLaren disqualified for cheating.
I see Autosport has yet again become the Hamilton fanzine !
  • You bet! I'm buzzing (in more way then 1). Only 1 hr 30 Min's until the coverage starts. My other half is reading in bed and I'm sat here with my Lewis Hamilton's St George cross flag draped over the sofa. GO LEWIS!!!!!!!!!!
  • Yep, i'll be doing my usual routine of the last decade; Large sweet black coffee at 12 and lots of bad 'cop chasing criminals' tv shows to make me laugh and keep me hyper.
Hope its a good race on sunday! Wooo hoooo!!!!!!
  • Guilty as charged, will be up at "sparrow's fart" but I will cheat and get some zeds in earlier, don't want to fall asleep on lap 53. Pole.? A Maclaren or a Ferrari or maybe the Pole on pole (groan).. Whether they make it past the 1st corner on the "First day back at school", the jury is out.
  • I plead insanity, but it's been a long wait and I'll be there.
  • No wonder Bernie wants it to be a Night Race...

Its at 8:30 AM in India, so no worries. Soon after an early breakfast, sipping a cup of tea ...

It should be fun after Kubica was the fastest and Lewis and Kimi managing just 12th and 14 in the last practice session.
(Val, Lewis is very close to the position that I "predicted" earlier)
  • Hi Val

I love the F1 racing. Lewis is going to be champion this year.

Don't think I'll be up at 3am for the race - I'll catch the rerun later
  • I'll be up watching it. Its been 4 months since the last race and I cant wait for the new season to start. The re-runs are 12 hours later but I could'nt wait that long.
    Mclaren 1 2
  • well well well, now you know what it takes to be a dedicated american f1 fan. for us the race starts at 11:00 pm tomorrow night and i will be there with the coffee brewing
  • i will b, i live here.lol
  • Oh yeah you can count me in too!!!
  • I got hooked on F1 in 1996 and never missed a live quali or race yet. I would be ready to kill if I heard the result before watching a race. It must be soul destroying to tune in 5 minutes too early on a re-run and catch the result on the news. Why do they do that? I sit there all smug because I've already seen it and ready to watch it again.

I'm a female in my 40's and my mates think I'm completely mad for even watching it, but my world stops for F1.

I guess a Ferrari will be on pole but I hope it's a Maclaren.
  • I certainly will be, and I'm up later (or earlier depending wheat way you look at it lol) coz i'm in Germany and have to wait till 3am for quali to start!! Can't wait though!!!!

I think Lewis will snatch pole, just to piss off Raikkonen who I think underestimates the McLarens a bit...
  • It starts at around 11am for us here in hk. I woke up extra early and I'm keeping myself busy with chores so i don't fall back asleep before it starts in 2 ******* hours!
  • I can't wait until Sunday, so who do you think will get pole?

Australians are NOT excluded, even though it will be a normal time of day for them lol
  • Me!

And I've got work at 8 the next morning. Should be fun.

    Pole Hamilton
    2 Massa
    3 Kovalainen
    4 Raikkonen
    5 Alonso
    6 Coulthard
    7 Kubica
    8 Piquet jr
    9 Webber
    10 Heidfeld
    and the rest.

    Enjoy the Season, everybody!

    Leon [BMW Sauber/Nick Heidfeld fan]
    Chesterfield, England
  • I'm gonna either stay up or get up at stupid o'clock simply cos my F1 withdrawal symptoms are too much to bear. I wanna see some live action on track. ps thanks for answering my question. I think Kimi will get pole (if not then Lewis).
  • Not me!
  • in england it is on at 2.15 am !!!!

i want to watch it but i don't think my mum will let me :( o well the repeats will come on :D
  • sky plus- invented for lazy f1 fans like me!
  • In Arizona it's on in primetime, oh and its also 85 outside.
  • stupid people thats who
  • MEEEEEE!!!!

and I'm very glad I'm not the only one :)

As for pole, I wouldn't be surprised to see an all red front row with Kimi heading the grid (even though I'm not a Ferrari fan).
  • I'm not scared of staying up late to watch hamilton rinse the grid!!
  • Speedtv in the states will show it at 10:00 PM my time and I'm wide awake to watch!
  • I object to your question about "Stupid" o'clock.

Having said that, either I will stay up and watch it here in the States on the East coast on Speed-late Saturday into early Sunday morning-but if I can't stay up, I will tape it and watch it later.
  • Does God hate Nascar?

    May be...

  • That's Gods way of making mankind suffer for their sins.
  • It's mother nature dear
  • I'm a diehard fan and this rain is really making me mad every week, do you think Nascar's rain protocol is right with the halfway point, a Monday race, and no ticket refund?
  • They should make the scheldule and then move every race... up or back a week !! BUT ??.....
  • Nope, he doesn't.
  • No, God is not a hater......I think Mother Nature has been alittle confuzzled lately though!!!!

    GO HARVICK & RCR!!!!
  • Mother Nature hates NASCAR. Everyone else including God loves it.
  • I think you are just fairly unlucky.
There is adequate criticism towards all sports, or just sports in general :/
  • I guess when u buy a ticket u r taking your chances on a rain out but it seems they could figure something out.
    This ain't there first rodeo!
  • No, God does not hate NASCAR, but hates that his 2 cars (the 24 and 48) are getting the snot kicked out of them. He's got to get them in a postion to win somehow.

The rain policy does stink...IMO. I would rather they not start the race at all if looks like it is going to rain, and run the race on Monday.
  • If there really is a god,it's you fans that he-she-it- hates.Think about it.The bible thumpers will tell you that everything that happens is dogs will.
  • Anger1 - GREAT answer!
  • God Doesnt Hate Anyone!!!!!
  • Heck no God is a redneck just look at this place he created one side of the world is blowing up and the other side is going broke.
  • No he does not. God does not hate. They need the rain out there.
  • no God doesnt hate NASCAR lol but no i think nascar should at least give half the money back thats just not fair
  • Anger1 said it best!

No, God doesn't hate Nascar. However, it seems like there should be a ticket refund rule.
  • Who gets the pole at bristol today providing it does'nt rain?

    May be...

  • Newman.....I'd like to see Kevin get it, but i will still say Newman.....if it doesnt rain!!!!

    GO HARVICK & RCR!!!!
  • Shrub
  • i'm going with the #1 truex
  • i'm going for 24.
  • # 83 Brian Vickers. Go # 9
  • #2 Kurt Busch or
    #12 Newman

....D*MN - rained out again!!! So it's Johnson.
  • I'm going with 24.
  • Jeff Gordon

If it gets rained out Jimmie Johnson will start first based on last year's owner's points. They don't reset the top 35 until AFTER Bristol, as far as starting order if qualifying is rained out.
edit: It DID get rained out, JIMMIE GETS THE POLE!!!
  • I hope Jeff Gordon wrecks, I can't stand that jerk. Plays dirty and doesn't get penalized for it.
  • I'm going with Jeff Gordon.

and if it rains it out, it puts Jimmie Johnson on the pole. They're still using last years points, until after this weekend.
  • Rocketman Ryan Newman.
  • Probably the 24. I'm hoping for the 43.
  • Jeff Gordon
  • If it rains, Kyle Busch will. If they get it in, Jeff Gordon will.
  • 1 of the Busch Brothers!!!!!
  • jr in the 88
  • i'm going with the blue deuce! kurt bush. I would like to see Dale Jarrett win this one! or even a top 5.racing wont be the same without him.
  • As in any rain out it goes to the points leader.
  • Jeff Gordon. He is on my fantasy team as a qualifier,
  • I am going with Kasey Kahne...

Also, if it rains, the pole does not go to Kyle Busch... Bristol is the last race that uses last years points, so the pole would go to Jimmie Johnson... if the points were the same 2 weeks from now at Martinsville, then Kyle Busch would get the pole...
  • Kyle Busch
  • Well, the rain gods just don't see to be Nascar fans another rain out...#48 will be on the pole..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • One of the RCR cars is my bet..

Maybe Bowyer? Probably Burton... This is happy Harvicks favorite track, but I don't think it will help him get a pole.
  • G O R D O N
  • Probally Kyle Busch, Ive seen the weather radar and it doesnt look good right now anyway, plus my joints are hurting so that means rain.
  • I am a nascar fan and my mom can not stand that i watch cars go around the track do any of you guys watch it?

    May be...

  • I watch it every Race!!!!!!
  • My hubby whines starting Friday nites when I can watch qualifying sometimes through the end of all the practices, qualifyings, and races on Sunday evening. I've strongly suggested he get himself another t.v. and another satellite hook up but it seems he'd rather whine.
  • I am a NASCAR junkie. My wife is almost one or she fakes it. She makes sure the race is on with or without guest. I have a cooler of beer next to my chair and a do not disturb unless you watch NASCAR on the door. YES I WATCH NASCAR!!!!!!!!
  • I love Nascar Racing. My favorite driver is Dale Jr.
  • for the most part, this is the nascar page and we love nascar
  • I am a older women and have 3 grown children plus grandchildren we all love Nascar, myself and my children big Dale Jr fans, my Grandson Jeff Gorden, there is a lot more to the sport than just going around the track in circles. There are thousand and thousand of people who watch every moment of the sport, so it can't be that boring, plus look at the money it generate in ticket sales, model cars, posters, shirts and jackets the list can go on and on. If your Mother doesn't enjoy it so be it , there are other channels to watch on another TV. Enjoy
  • Show your mom the tv ratings and ticket sales for a Nascar race on any given Sunday. It's one of the most popular spectator sports in this country and there's a reason!
  • I LOVE NASCAR BUT I DONT LIKE JEFF GORDON...EEWWW!!! I LOVE DENNY, TONY, KYLE, KACIE......REALLY I LOVE ALL OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SO GIVING TO ALL THE CHARITY'S. I GO TO TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY EVERY YEAR AND THIS YEAR TALLADAGA HERE I COME.
  • Maybe yo momma just don't like GORDY BOY, and she don't want to hurt your feelings??
Pick a ROUSH driver, and see if that helps !!
I'm from Atlanta and I live it twice a year.
  • Of course we watch it. NASCAR racing is one of the best motorsports on this planet. Just be nice to you mom when she makes negative comments about you watching NASCAR racing. And just tell her you like all the technology of motorsports and it's conquering of man over machine, in a form of competition.
  • Your mom doesnt know what she is missing. Nascar is great.
    Go Jeff!
  • I love Nascar and Jeff Gordon Rules !!!!!!
  • every friday saturday and sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I love nascar, my friend says the same to me, she doesn't understand how I watch cars go around in circles. I also live in Indiana and I also love to go to the brickyard, I have been going for the last 4 years and I am very disappointed because I am going to have to miss this year. (My due date is one day before the race)

    Go Tony Stewart!
  • i am a jeff gordon fan and i live in boggstown indiana. we like to go to the brickyard 400
  • Along with several thousand more fans! I live in Delaware and go to the September Dover race every year.
  • I love watching Nascar!!

But you know if 24 is good 48 must be twice as good. LOL.
  • I am a nascar junkie myself.
If you like nascar and u have a question, this is the place to get your answers.
    Go # 9
  • Some people just dont get what nascar racing is all about, they just say " why do you watch cars going around in a circle" Iam a nascar junkie myself it must be a man thing thing all the horsepower and technology and speed, it takes everyone involved working together to win races its not just cars going around in circles
  • I love Nascar and look forward to watching the races on Sundays! My favorite is Jimmie Johnson. GO 48!
  • I'm addicted!!!! I love watching it and I love going to the races. I've been to Bristol, Richmond, Martinsville lots and lots and lots of times.

My fav driver is Elliott Sadler (yeah, yeah, I know, bite me) and I also like Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin! :)
  • Does anyone know the name(s) of Dale Earnhardt Jr's dog(s)???

    May be...

  • I only recall one-"Killer"
  • Killer and Stroker

Killer the black dog and Stroker the white dog.

    http://www.infieldparking.com/DaleJr/Pho...
  • he has a boxer named Killer and I know he did have a Great Dane too but not sure if he still has him.(cant remember name)
  • He has a boxer named Killer.
  • I think their names are All Hype and Average Skills
  • killer and stroker.
  • Killer and Stroker theres a picture of him on his infield parking with the dogs..
  • Killer & Stroker!!!!!
  • Their names are Max and cilmax.
  • The female dog I think is named Bitchey and the other one is named Whiner.
  • killer and stroker
  • I don't know how to word this question with out offending racing fans but I will try?

    May be...

  • No it wouldn't.

There are around 300 million cars in the US many of which are driven every day. Compare that to the few thousand cars racing in the entire country once a week. The amount of gas saved would amount to almost nothing.
  • No.The price would remain at it's higher price. The percentage of oil used in racing is small compaired to the airlines and daily traffic.
  • You really think that is a serious question? If you think like that, no wonder you don't know the answers. No. Motorsports have no influx on the price of crude oil. Only the consumption by the public. If everyone quit driving their cars, gas prices would go down real quick.
  • the price of crude is based on futures and not how much nascar is using...you want to lower the price, talk to the people that bargain with it
  • IF for some reason car racing be it Nascar or be it the Daytona 500 or anything else were to forever stop (OK I know this would never happen----but for sake of supposing) would the price of crude oil drop drastically? Would anyone or has anyone put certian rules on these cars and racers to make things more friendly for the environment?

Hey Nascar fans I have nothing against you and all but this is a serious question as I don't know the answer!
  • No!! It wont drop a Penny!!!!!!
  • Most run on different fuel anyway.
  • Would make no difference. When you look at the millions of cars on the road what would taking a few hundred (or thousand) at the most cars do?

Price of crude will never drop drastically. The Arabs are going to make us pay through the nose.
  • the biggest user of fuel in the USA is the Air Force. I live near a AFB, and they are constantly circling the runway, with fuel guzzling airplanes, to keep in practice. I have heard they have a fuel allocation, and if they don't use it all, they receive less next year. So....they keep the storage tanks empty.
On the other hand....Go Air Force and all Military.. keep us safe, we appreciate what you do.
  • No it would not change things. The fuel they use is not even a drop in the bucket compared to US consumption.
  • If they stopped Nascar racing the price of crude oil wouldn't make it drop. Think about it, really sit back and think. Do you think it would make a difference? Nascar is changing the fuel little bit by little bit. They are running unleaded fuel now. IRL uses ethanol. What Nascar is doing doesn't make that big of a impact on the environment.
  • No but if YOU would car pool or take the bus or not run to the mall 3 times a week, that might help!!!
  • No. Studies have shown that if you took out all the oil/gas NASCAR uses, it would only be a small dent.
  • NASCAR racing will not change the price of oil. The people can.
  • Nope!
If your referring to the emissions that the cars put off? your talking of only 45 to 50 cars in practice or qualifying as opposed to the whole world.
    I doubt it!
  • The US consumes about 834,000 barrels of oil an hour. (20,000,000 barrels/day) About 51.4 percent of a barrel results in refined gasoline.

One 500 mile race consumes about 165 to 175 barrels.
(Computed using average of 5 mpg /car for 43 cars and 26 gallons from a barrel)

Transporting the cars and practice probably consumes another 2000 barrels.

That's a little more than 80,000 barrels per year, but of course some of the diesel fuel comes from some of the same barrels as the racing fuel. I digress, just trying to make a point!

Over the course of the 10 month season, the US consumes 6,000,000,000 barrels, so NASCAR uses 0.001333% of the total. So, for every 1000 gallons of gas you might consume you could save 1.33 cents, theoretically.

Don't spend it all in one place!
  • NASCAR does not burn enough fuel to make a difference in the OPEC pricing.

NASCAR does try to be environmentally friendly, but there is only so much you can do with a race car.

    Legit question though.
  • NASCAR and Daytona 500 are the same thing.

I really don't think if NASCAR stopped the price of crude oil would drop dramatically.

I think if the President stopped being the personal bee-otch of Saudi Arabia, we might have some progress.
  • Most race cars don't rely on typical Gasoline products derived from Crude Oil - so the answer to your question is NO.

The reason OIL prices are high is for many factors, and cutting back on Racing - be it nascar, f1, ALMS or other types of racing is not going to make even the smallest dent the price of oil.

Oil prices are high because the US and China suck so much of it up in regular automobiles, production of manufactured products and in everything we do.
  • None whatsoever! The price of crude oil doesnt have anything to do with Nascar. Sorry to bust your bubble.
  • I don`t know what makes you think the prices would change just because SUNOCO is the sponsor that doesn`t mean the fuel is free & as regular consumers we are not picking up the tab for Racing unless we buy a ticket to the race.
  • No.
I answered a similar question recently.
I live in St. Louis, the 13th largest city in the U.S.
All of the drivers combined here alone, drive a total of 504,000,000 miles in ONE WEEK!
43 race cars in a 500 mile race, race a combined mileage of 21,500 miles on a Sunday afternoon.
Using 25 miles per gallon for st. louis drivers, that's 20,160,000 gallons burned per week. Using 5 mpg for Nascar, that's 4300 gallons burned per week. That's quite a HUGE margin.

As far as pollution goes, all professional racing series are exempt from the Clean Air Act of 1979.
But don't be mad at them, trains, planes, construction cranes, earth moving equipment etc. etc. are also exempt.
Pretty much anything that's illegal to drive on a public highway is exempt including gas lawn mowers.

Another interesting note is tires. I work for the largest retail tire dealer in the state of MO. We have 38 stores. Last year, we sold right at 1,000,000 tires to the public and wholesale accounts.
If Nascar's top series uses 18 tires per car, per race weekend at 43 cars per race in 36 races, that would be 27,864 tires per year.
So it would literally take 35.8 years/seasons for Nascar to use the same amount of tires that just one successful family owned business sells in one year.
Plus, I can guarantee there's no racing tires laying on any river banks somewhere.
  • I don't know how to word this question with out offending racing fans but I will try?

    May be...

  • No!! It wont drop a Penny!!!!!!
  • Would make no difference. When you look at the millions of cars on the road what would taking a few hundred (or thousand) at the most cars do?

Price of crude will never drop drastically. The Arabs are going to make us pay through the nose.
  • NASCAR racing will not change the price of oil. The people can.

  • You really think that is a serious question? If you think like that, no wonder you don't know the answers. No. Motorsports have no influx on the price of crude oil. Only the consumption by the public. If everyone quit driving their cars, gas prices would go down real quick.
  • Most run on different fuel anyway.

  • No but if YOU would car pool or take the bus or not run to the mall 3 times a week, that might help!!!
  • the price of crude is based on futures and not how much nascar is using...you want to lower the price, talk to the people that bargain with it
  • No.

  • Most race cars don't rely on typical Gasoline products derived from Crude Oil - so the answer to your question is NO.

  • NASCAR does not burn enough fuel to make a difference in the OPEC pricing.

NASCAR does try to be environmentally friendly, but there is only so much you can do with a race car.

    Legit question though.
  • Nope!
If your referring to the emissions that the cars put off? your talking of only 45 to 50 cars in practice or qualifying as opposed to the whole world.
    I doubt it!
  • None whatsoever! The price of crude oil doesnt have anything to do with Nascar. Sorry to bust your bubble.
  • No.The price would remain at it's higher price. The percentage of oil used in racing is small compaired to the airlines and daily traffic.
  • No it would not change things. The fuel they use is not even a drop in the bucket compared to US consumption.
  • No it wouldn't.

There are around 300 million cars in the US many of which are driven every day. Compare that to the few thousand cars racing in the entire country once a week. The amount of gas saved would amount to almost nothing.
  • No. Studies have shown that if you took out all the oil/gas NASCAR uses, it would only be a small dent.

    8. Adolfo J Schwelm Cruz (28.06.1923)

There is some difficulty on question 8 as some sites do not realise that some of the drivers are dead. If Cruz has died then NO-ONE IS STILL ALIVE!
  • All the answers are to do with the first race of seasons gone by...
    1. When was the last time that the driver who would finish the year as champion failed to score at the first GP of the year?
    2. Which constructors were represented at the first ever GP in 1950?
    3. Not counting the first race in 1950, the first GP of which season had the most debutants entered?
    4. When was the last time that the Monaco GP was the first on the calendar?
    5. Graham Hill won at Monaco 5 times...how many of those times was it the first race of the season?
    6. Alain Prost won in Brazil 6 times...how many of those times was it the first race of the season?
    7. What was the most recent circuit to stage the first race of the season for the first time?
    8. And a hard one to finish...Five drivers made their debut in Argentina in 1953; who is the oldest living one of the five?
  • Do you believe the fines for Carl Edwards?

    May be...

  • it is what it is
  • They seem excessive. NASCAR wants to punish teams with violations severely so they won't do it again. Edwards was 42nd last week and I wonder if Osborne had been there if things would have been different. Edwards went from first to out of the top twelve in one race. Roush has attached a wire to make sure that the oil lid will stay on if the fastener fails again. The car had it on at the start of the race and it came off. Otherwise Edwards would have passed out from the fumes. Roush is not appealing because NASCAR rarely reverses decisions. A deliberate violation by anyone later in the year would have to be more severe and they may get into suspending a driver for a number of races because of the harsh penalties on Edwards for a minor, race caused infraction.
  • I wish they would have fined the team more. They would have deserved it.
  • Yes I do , they penalized other teams at Daytona & they got caught in pre- race inspections , Carl got caught in post- race inspections . They should have taken the win away, not just points& $$$. Maybe they will start putting lockwashers on those bolts ,they cost a lot less.
  • Yes I do and in my opinion its what the team deserves.
If u fail pre or post race inspection no matter who u r, there will be consequences.
The big one was the 10 bonus points that was takin away if Carl Should make the chase.
    Go #9
  • His team cheated so he has to pay the price for it, they knew they cheated. That's how life is . They have to be strict about it because if they aren't everyone would be cheating.
  • I think they all push limits as far as they can, and sometimes they get caught. The punishment fit the 'crime'.
  • Yeah i cant believe it...if you pass pre-race inspection..especially knowing that it was on the car then...why would they fine him for losing it during the race...i dont get it
  • from a week ago? he got caught CHEATING. 100 LBS of downforce was created. he got LUCKY that nascar dont strip wins like they should

nascar should go to u get caught with a bad part or whatever sit the driver rule. if they can park harvick for what he did in a truck race for a cup race grow some balls and park the driver for his team cheating
  • Yes, I do. they got caught.Nascar is just not going to put up with anything any longer..You cheat, they'll sock you ya. If stuff like this keeps up they'll start hitting them with more than 100 pts as thats the part that really hurts the most.
  • Yes I do...he was cheating and they will not appeal
  • Yes, NASCAR has set a precinct with the COT and that is they don't want you to mess with the car. NASCAR has been pretty much consistent with COT violaters. The violation in all cases last year and for Carl Edwards was 100 points docked, 100 owner points docked, crew chief suspension for 6 weeks and 100,000 fine. The only difference between Carl's penalty and the cars that got penalized last year is that those cars did not win the race, but Carl did and so he will not be credited with the addtional 10 bonus points if he qualifies for the Chase.
  • Theres nothing to not believe i dont even think Edwards id fighting the fines, i have never heard of Nascar lying on a pre race or post race car check
  • Yes I believe the fine was a Pretty stiff one!!!!!!
  • They got off easy. Evidence of missing window clips have surfaced since the fine was imposed. That is why it will not be appealed. the board could take away the win and the 195 points awarded which is what should have been done.
  • I agree that the penalty seems way too severe.
  • Yes he cheated, the team and owner and driver all knew that they cheated that's why they won't appeal.
  • Clearly you're a Carl Edwards fan and you're looking for someone to validate your opinion that the fines and suspension of crew chief Bob Osborne was wrong. I'm not going to be that person for you.

NASCAR caught the team in post-race inspection with an illegality. Intent-which some people argue-is irrelvant. It is against NASCAR rules. Roush Fenway Racing and the #99 team were fined, docked points and penalized with the loss of Osborne and to me the fines were perfectly legitimate. If you do something illegal and you get caught, you should be punished for it. I realize this won't make Edwards' fans here happy, and by the way, I am neither for or against Carl Edwards or any other driver. I am for good clean exciting racing and fair play by everyone.
  • Yeah I do... the fines said Osborne was cheating
So I'm gonna believe those sneaky little ''FINES''
  • They are consistent with all the COT fines/penalties so far. What could possibly be wrong with them?? They cheated and they got caught so they got penalized.

As to passing pre-race and then being OK, that would just be an open gate to altering the car after pre-race inspection and cheating would be rampant!
  • Of course I do, why would the fines lie. All kidding aside, he may of got off a little easy in light of the fact that it is looking more and more that it was intentional. Roush/Fenway is not appealing the penalties so that tends to suggest that they know they got caught this time. I'm not throwing stones (I'm an HMS fan) and don't think less of the 99 team, they ALL do it from time to time. If he hadn't raced the car the fines would have been in line with other COT infractions but his "alteration" got used during the race in which he won. NASCAR needs to strip the win and points if they want to discourage this from happening in the future. Just my opinion.
  • It's BS because they can't even tell when the oil cap fell off...hell for all they know it could have fallen off during his burnout, or on the trip to victory lane. He got penalized WAY to much for the situation.

What is your favorite Dale Jarrett memory?

    May be...

  • It for me was him winning the 500 with his Dad calling him home to the finish line. That was priceless!

Another moment that was not historical or nothing but It was at Bristol and I dont remember what year or if it was cup or Busch but when Shane Hmeil(This was right before he got suspended for drug use) wrecked DJ pretty hard and it put DJ out of the race, when Dale got out of his car he went to Shane Hmeil car(It was red Flagged) out on the track in turn 4 and stuck his hand in Hmeils car shaking his fist and pointing his finger is his face, then after DJ walks away Shane gives DJ the bird. It was hilarious. I wished DJ would have put a knot on that kids head.
  • When he won the Daytona 500 with his dad Ned Jarrett calling it in the booth, I was at the race it was great. I had to watch the replay when I got home as my room mate taped the race it was great to see it on TV, I never get tired of it..Ned and Dale are two great legends of Nascar and just great all around good guys..
  • anyone where he doesn't suck as bad as he does now. he was great but at least he is getting out now, cause after this race he should be out of champions provisionals and then it would be another wasted season.

i was a big fan and love what he has done with his camp but maybe kyle petty should let chad mccumbee run that car full time and take a hint form dale
  • He's had some great wins, but the one that I won't forget is his last win at Talladega. Great come from behind win that reminded me very much of a famous guy that drove a black car.
  • I think mine is his last win at Talledega, when he got out of his car and got the checkered flag. I thought that was cool.
  • Being at Michigan International Speedway and watching DJ win in August 2002.
  • Mine has to be when he won the 1999 Championship! I was a BIG fan of his then so I really enjoyed that! Racin' ain't gonna be the same with out Dale Jarrett there! I am going to cry Sunday I feel it coming on right now! Dale is a great guy and he will be Highly missed! I hope he wins his last race that would be AWESOME! I am going to be pulling for him Sunday!
  • Back when him and Earnhardt battled at the Daytona 500. Jarrett won and his dad Ned was in the announcers booth cheering him on on live television. That was great to see.
  • How about this one...he is finally retiring after haplessly driving around out there going no where.
  • winning the daytona 500 with his dad calling the race in the tv booth
  • I shared this in a question earlier, but mine again would be when he won in Datona for the first time with his Dad ( Jed ) in the booth calling the race. Magical
  • This Sunday, Dale Jarrett hangs it up after years of racing in NASCAR. Of all of his accomplishments (including winning the Daytona 500 three times, 1999 championship) and memories, which is your favorite?

As always, sarcasm and bad attempts at humor are welcome.
  • him winning the Daytona 500 with his daddy calling the race.

I will always remeber him by the funny commercials he made with UPS. I wonder if he will still keep making them
  • 2008 NASCAR Rookies?

    May be...

  • I do believe the COT is part of the equation and not a lack of talent. Remember how awful JPM was last year even in the "old" car except on road courses? Remember all the wrecks he caused? He didn't exactly make a brilliant entrance into NASCAR either although he did show signs of it at times. This new car has to be tough. We see even the regulars having a difficult time. Remember how bad Roush was last year with the COT. Look at them this year! I think the learning curve for the rookies coming from open-wheel is a lot steeper than they thought. Let's re-evaluate them with four races left in the season and see how they are doing.
  • montoya and franchitti will never win in nascar . they know that is real hard . they should go back to f1 . montoya is doing a good job holding others drivers and causing accidents.. rookies 100%.
  • Not only was the timing off w/ the COT being brought in full time, but they all have one common factor as well.. DODGE! Which has improved, but lets face it.. they STILL have some work to do.

Dario is on a struggling Gannassi team that may be a distant memory sooner than later. Chip may just be an open wheel guy in the next couple of years. Even Montoya and Sorenson are running like field fillers.

Sam Hornish I am a little surprised about.. but when I think about it.. I shouldn't be. He's on a struggling Penske team that has almost turned the curve w/ that #12 team, but the #2 is still a little behind, and if you followed NASCAR over the last years you'd know that the #77 car has a horrible history as well.. (IE Brendan Gaughan)

Carpentier (again) is on a struggling GEM team, that has showed improvement w/ Kasey but Sadler is flopping like a fish out of water in this new car, and Patricks days may be numbered already. No feel for the car, not enough seat time, and not making shows isn't a good way to kick off the season.

And Villenueve.. I guess sponsor woes have stopped him from trying to progress in CUP but it all boils down to him not having a great understanding of the COT and not being able to run competitively enough to make the shows. I think he will be back in the future.

All these guys need more seat time in other series. (IE Nationwide, Trucks, or ARCA) They need to get a feel for these races, the different type of cars, and get some chemistry built with a crew chief that can understand what they are saying about the car and correctly adjust it. Until then, they shouldn't be in the CUP series full time. (Being outside the top35 after the 4th race of the season is EXACTLY why I say this)
  • What Sally B said.
  • yes it is slim pic kins, but the competition is so tough that they are all struggling. Regan Smith would be better if he where with a good team like Hms, or Gem, or Rcr. in fact i think he would do great.
  • I like Regan Smith and Dario.
  • Simple.
They are rookies in a field where the competion is as even as it has ever been.
It is going to be very interesting to watch this top 35 battle throughout the season.
  • Has anyone else noticed that the four rookies this year (Hornish, Franchitti, Carpentier, and Villenueve), all of whom are accomplished open wheel drivers, are all sitting outside of the top 35 in points this year? Are the cars REALLY that different, and did they pick a bad year to move to NASCAR with the COT; or were they all overrated in open wheel due to the lack of competition in their respective divisions? Keep in mind that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon both where open wheel racers originally, and both have won NASCAR championships. Even Robby Gordon has shown flashes of brilliance between his typical flashes of ineptitude. I can't remember a year when ALL of the rookie class was ranked this low....thoughts, anyone??
  • You can't blame 'em. They joined NASCAR just when NASCAR debuts a new harder to drive car. If the difficulty curve from going from an open wheel car to a NASCAR wasn't difficult enough.
  • It is Harder to Drive a Stock Car that Is Heavier than Openwheel Cars and the Fact that The Tires are Narrower on Stock Cars. Not to Mention that the Stock Cars have the Engines up front= Less rear end weight over Open wheel Cars. It is not as easy as These Drivers are finding Out.-- I wish F-1 and Open wheel fans could Understand these basic principals!!!!!!!
  • Can someone explain the points thats awarded each week?

    May be...

  • if you fail tech you lose 100 points!
  • Dont forget about 5 points for leading a lap and
5 points for leading the most laps!!!!!!
  • I know that 1- ??? gets 5 points more than the driver in front of them and it goes down to 3 points ( 43rd gets 34 points and 42nd get 37 points ), but who gets 5 points for position and who get 3 points for position?

    Since this was removed?

    May be...

  • I think that letting him go was a necessary move, & one that will turn out to be in the best interest of everyone involved...This way everyone is satisfied with the way things are, & the season won't be filled with complaining & people feeling they are misunderstood & being taken advantage of..
  • looks to me everything is working out just fine
  • Long way to go yet...Go Harvick!!!
  • I think Kyle fits in better at JGR. I was concerned at first because I'm not a big fan of Tony or Denny, but Joe Gibbs was the coach of a very successful football team, and really knows how to deal with all the personality quirks and egos of an athlete. - And yes, they are athletes! - Rowdy doesn't have to try to be someone he's not, a cookie cutter version of Jeff and Jimmie.

I think everyone ends up winning on this one, and I think this situation went a long way in helping Kyle to mature a bit.
  • Well, Kyle really hasn't proved anything in NASCAR. 3 years, and 5 wins. That's respectful, but what does it mean? I dislike Jr., but at least Jr. will be respectful in this type of team chemistry. Jr. has more fans. Jr. tears up less equipment, and his knowledge in the sport is pretty good to. He doesn't get frustrated, or cry when something goes wrong. He can admit his mistakes. So in my opinion, see you later scrub or schrub or whatever, I'll take the southern boy of Jr. on my team any day.
  • You have to think of each car and driver like a race horse and jockey, you have to find the right jockey for a certin horse, and Hendrick gave Kyle the wrong horse. I think Kyle and the #18 is a triple crown winner! Go Rowdy!
  • I agree with Sally B.
Also, I don't put too much stock in what DW says. He is blatantly pro-Toyota. IMO, a TV analyst should at least try to pretend to be unbiased.
Everyone's Kyle Busch crazy right now, but we're only 4 races into the season. Hendrick shall rise again! lol
  • Kyle is doing better with Joe Gibbs. It sometimes takes the right fit to make it work!
  • I am going to ask the same question again!

Now that Kyle Busch has won his first race and the way that DW has been talking about how he is going to win the championship this year, should they just crown him now? Should they crown him for the truck and nationwide series while they are at too?

Everyone is saying that Hendrick is kicking himself over having let Kyle go, I dont really think he is. I know that Busch would have been way more unhappy than what he is now and as a result of being unhappy he would not be where he is in the points and I believe that he would have been miserable. Do you think that it was the right move by Hendrick to let Kyle go? I will go so far as to say dont include Dale Jr in the argument because Busch's contract would have been up at the end of this year any how and I think that he would have went to a different team any how.
  • Kyle just didnt fit in at Hendrick plain and simple. I dont think Rick wanted to have to pick the pieces after Kyle mad a mess of things. Rick Hendrick made a real god investment by signing junior, look at all the money he will make because of Junior and not Kyle.
  • Bad decsion...no...as far as it goes though not saying JR?...can you..even those who hate JR...you have him in your stable (along with johnson and gordon), the money the fans, the drama....what else could you want in a team...id much rather have JR as the face of my organization as opposed to a overrated cocky, disrespectful driver...and i have to agree that people are saying alot about lil busch after 4 races....you race three series at the same track...you better win...and as far as other drivers...listen to some of the past interviews from truck and nat. drivers...they DO NOT LIKE/RESPECT Busch at all....i would be surprised if he finishes in the top ten at Bristol...let alone win the championship....
  • I think Kyle and HMS were going to part ways not matter what. I think it's a better fit all the way around the way it is now. I think both Busch and Jr. feel more at home where they are now. As for the championship it's way to early to tell who will win this year. With the cars being made more the same and with the improvements all the teams have been making, I think we may be in for several lead changes and a lot closer points race all together.
  • I think Kyle is better off but I don't think Hendrick is kicking himself.
  • Sorry your question was deleted. To make a long story short and without saying JR's name, it was a bad decision to let Kyle go!!!
  • Hendrick made a mistake but Busch didn't want to be there.
  • It just shows that it was Hendrick that was the problem, not Busch. I hope that Kyle does great and shows Hendrick that he can drive, he made a mistake and you get what you pay for.
  • It is WAY too early to crown anyone a NASCAR champion. We as Americans love instant gratification and are prone to thinking "oh, someone's doing well, let's anoint them..now." That's really sad. My suggestion is to just wait and see how things turn out.

As for Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports kicking themselves for letting Kyle Busch go, that is speculation rather than facts, and I would suspect that most of those who write that are Kyle Busch fans. I think a lot of the decision to let Kyle go had to do with chemistry. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and Casey Mears are all fierce competitors but also pretty laid-back personalities, while Kyle Busch seems something of the opposite. Was letting Kyle go the right decision at Hendrick Motorsports? Only time will tell.
  • This seems to happen fairly often. A promising young driver has a little success and the next thing you know he's the driver to beat for the championship. I will believe it when I see it, after they take the checkered flag at Homestead. Kyle is a great driver and the move benefitted him AND Hendrick Motorsports. Everybody wants there to be a winner and loser in this deal but I think it was best for all parties concerned. Getting rid of Kyle had nothing to do with his ability and if Jr wasn't a good fit at HMS Rick wouldn't have brought him into the fold just because of his name and marketability. The JGR fans are counting an awful lot of chickens based on 4 races. If the eggs hatch out they will have plenty to eat but if they don't they might have to eat crow instead.
  • It was the best move for all involved.

Jr. is a better fit with Hendrick than Kyle was. Kyle is a great fit at Gibbs and will win more.

I think it would be great to see him win the Truck and Nationwide series but as much as I like Kyle I really want Jimmie to get a third Cup Championship.
  • I'm with Trego on this all the way....Well said.
  • No they shouldnt go ahead and Crown Him or anyone this early
And Hendrick is rolling in Dough off of Jr!!!!!!
  • Nope. They can't crown him now. He hasn't won the championship yet.
  • I said last year that HMS should have kept Kyle Busch as he has more talent than Jr.

The season will prove me correct.
  • I hate to keep repeating this but Kyle was let go because of his attitude. Hendrick specifically said it was not because of his performance. What part of that is so hard to understand?

The other thing is Kyle was shocked to be let go and readjusted his attitude because of that. Gibbs has an edge in power at the moment and that is part of what is happening. Things will even out over the course of the season. If I had to bet on the championship between Kyle and Jr I would bet on Jr. Oops, sorry I mentioned the J word.
  • Is it right for Nascar to allow Goodyear to change the tire compound after the teams test?

    May be...

  • I'm not talking about tire testing! Goodyear changed the compound after the teams tested at Atlanta! The tire testing was done first. This caused all the teams a problem. They spent a lot of money and time testing with a different tire than they raced on. Making all of their data useless. This is the reason for the problem last weekend! Nascar should make it a policy that the tires used in team testing will be the same tires used during the race! That would solve the problem, but I bet Nascar doesn't do it!!! They say they want to save teams money, then why would they let them test on one tire and then let goodyear bring a different one for the race? It's just another Nascar control issue!!!
  • if it mean safer racing... yes..
  • Nascar know whats best for the drivers in this case it was safety. They would rather make there "data" useless then have a class A driver be killed at the hands of goodyear
  • No, they should get it right the first time.
  • No its not right but a necessary evil. But if they missed the tire pick that bad for the test that they have to change it what makes them think they can get it right the second time?
  • No that is really wrong. Dale Jr said "One week isn't enough time to change the car for a different tire than what we tested," and every other team had too much trouble trying to keep the car on the track to be able to race each other. Every car finished the race with the paint scraped off of the right side from rubbing the wall. I don't think that is safer at all. It definitely didn't make for good racing.
  • No it is not Right!!!!!!
  • no stewart was right
  • The problem is the COT and its higher roll center more than the tire. Yes, Goodyear should have stayed with the compound they tested with, which they obviously didn't do, but the new car is going to be more abusive on any compound because of its higher center of gravity. But NASCAR has tied the hands of the teams so they can't deal effectively with problems like were evident at Atlanta, and we saw the result...a boring race!!
  • People will differ, let's just say the a week before the race switching the tire was a no win for most drivers. All of the in car communications and post race for the most part was about the tire, only differing opinions so far seem to have come from Mike Waltrip, Carl Edwards and Chad Knaus who say it is the car not the tire...I still say that changing the tire a week before the race is not adequate time to adjust to what they had to deal with.
  • Who knows what Goodyear or NASCAR was thinking. They both messed up bad. Last falls practice was a huge waste of time and money for everybody involved.

To make it even worse neither could tell us why they made that change. Goodyear sent a marketing manager who probably couldn't tell you anymore about that tire than the average person. At least send an engineer who could tell you what the actual problem was and what they were hoping the changes would do.

From the driver comments it sounds as though the teams were happy with that they tested with last fall. Now they show up with a different tire that nobody liked, couldn't race with, and almost every car hit the wall at least one.
  • Then the problem is if they test on a tire, and something happens with that tire a bunch during the race under the scenario you presented, then the complaints will roll in that NASCAR and Goodyear did not do enough to try and provide a safe racing tire.

NASCAR and Goodyear did all they can do, all Goodyear can do is to try and make a tire that can work better on the COT
  • Not right at all...changing the tires wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars that teams spent trying to collect data so that they could perform well at the track. Everything they learned had to be thrown out the window.
  • You pretty much summed up Tony Stewarts argument.
And though I don't care for Stewart, I totally agree with you and him on this one.
Kasey Kahne Normally doesn't just lose it on the tri oval but with that tire compound, he was the first one around.GO # 9
  • Do you think Kyle Busch should be parked by Nascar for over aggressive driving?

    May be...

  • Single word answer,NO.
    Two word answer,HEYYELL NO.
If they were going to they would have done it during the race.
  • Isn't it amazing how people say all those things yet have no facts to back it up.

I haven't heard this much nonsense since Jeff Gordon started kickin everyones butt back in 1992.

Example:He doesn't give any credit to his crew!

Basically kneeled down to JGR and his crew yesterday

Example:He is disrespectful to the other drivers on the track!

Haven't seen him wreck one person in Sprint this year.

Example:He will cause the next death in Nascar!

No guys like Sadler or Casey Mears will do that.

Example:He thinks everyone should look up to him!

33 Others should because they aren't that good.

Example:He just doesn't fit the mold of today's Nascar driver! Do you think Nascar should just park him before he ruins all three series?

Yeah he'll ruin because he's almost the best in all 3 series.

Gosh I think the fans whine more then Stewart or Jeffy can in 500 years.
  • Clearly you aren't a fan on Kyle "Rowdy" Busch. Here is what I suggest to you. Before reposting what others say, ask yourself about each person's question. WHY did they post what they did? Basically you are just reposting what others have written without-to me-thinking independently about it.

I am neither a abject "he can never do wrong" fan of Kyle Busch nor do I believe that he should be burned at the stake. Kyle can be aggressive, but so can other drivers. Dale Earnhardt, Sr was aggresive but beloved. What is the difference? Again, I would ask you to think for yourself and get the facts rather than simply parrotting what others do. I'm sure someone won't like this response and downvote and/or report me, but I am at a point right now that I don't care. SOMEONE needs to stand up for what's right, and I'm more than comfortable to do it alone if necessary.

P.S. I respect Kyle Busch tremendously for his talent. As for the other things, those are a matter of opinion. I try whenever possible to stick with the facts, not rumors, innuendo, speculation, conjecture or just plain vitriol that others spew.
  • Parked? No. Called to the trailer, maybe probation, Yes! I agree with a lot of what you said, however, like him or not, the kid has talent. He just needs to reign it in and stop taking so many unnecessary risks. He needs to settle down and learn some patience.

    Go JR.>>>>
  • No-- But he needs a trip into the Nascar Trailer--What he did To Jarrett was uncalled for!!!!!!
  • What he did to Jarrett was fine. Busch was going for a win Jarrett was laps down and getting in the way I would have done the same thing. Kyle Busch is the life of the party! If he wasn't there, there would be no photo finishes, no 4 and 5 wide racing, no talk or hype. If Kyle was not in nascar this chat log on here would not exist!
  • He didn't wreck anyone did he. so no
  • Why should he be parked. He's been fast all year and broke through with his first win of the year. He's been the 2nd best driver all year in terms of performance. Kyle is the best young talent in NASCAR right now and he'll only get better as he gains more confidence and patience.
  • no way the kid has talent and just not mature yet DW SAID THAT he is now more mature he is going to be a future champ do you know that kid has fire and on every lap goes 120 percent he leads like every lap in a race

HE IS CHANGED CUZ NOW HE IS WITH A NEW TEAM AND HE GOTS A GOOD LEADER WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH ALL THIS NAMED TONY STEWERT
  • I think what you are suggesting is a little over the top. Kyle is a very aggressive driver and yes, I think he will cause some serious accidents before the year is out.

However, NASCAR is about the individual personalities on the track it takes all kinds to make the sport as popular as it is. If my opinion actually mattered I would suggest that NASCAR counsel Busch on his on track actions and "suggest" he make a marked attempt at driving a little less aggressively. I think he could be just as successful if cooled his jets just a tad.

As a final thought, IMHO Kyle is driving much wilder this year and it only is a matter of time before FUBARS something or someone. When he does, I am sure they will rain down hellfire and brimstone even though they should have done something to temper the situation before hand.
  • The last couple of years I really didnt care for him, but lately it seems like he has lightened up a lot. As far as being parked by Nascar, absolutely not. I was kind of surprised on how closely he was driving with Jarrett towards the end of that race in Vegas though. Didnt make much sense to me, so instances like that maybe he should back down but he won the race and I have a feeling that it wont be his last this year.
  • Kyle is very crazy driver, but he races within the rules and what he did to Jarrett was ok thats why they have a blue flag with yellow strip it means move over the leader is coming. Jarrett should know the rules by know. if anything what he and Waltrip did was wrong.
  • I've read a lot of post on here the last few days, that if true, maybe Nascar should park him for a year. And if he doesn't straighten up, drive correctly, and act more like other popular drivers when he comes back, then Nascar should ban him for life!!
These are just a few of the things that have been said:
He will cause the next death in Nascar!
He thinks everyone should look up to him!
He doesn't give any credit to his crew!
He is disrespectful to the other drivers on the track!
He just doesn't fit the mold of today's Nascar driver! Do you think Nascar should just park him before he ruins all three series?
    What do you think?
  • they better not!
hes the one to beat this year, he and tony could take on anyone
    beeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaww...
your a jelous hendrick fan whoes pissed of because they made a retarded trade for jr, one of the most over rated drivers of today, and kyle is the kind of young driver NASCAR needs,
  • No, let him go. I like watching him when he takes himself out of the race and then storms off like a spoiled brat.

He's got plenty of talent, but he does need to grow up.

I saw what he did to DJ and that was uncalled for. Some people out there on the track respect their heritage, maybe Kyle has none. One thing is certain. He has to run by himself because no one alse will. Wonder why that is?
  • no he shouldnt get "parked" hes a badass driver, thats just his style, he finds holes that most other drivers wouldnt think about going into...he has nerves of steal...
  • Kyle Busch just made a little bit of NASCAR history. It's too late for NASCAR to stop him now. Kyle Busch is one of the big guys now. Joe Gibbs Racing is like Dr. Frankenstein, and Kyle Busch is like the monster. Racing is a big spectator sport, and Kyle Busch is giving it's audience what it wants to see. Kyle Busch is making NASCAR more money than anything right now. So as you can probably see, my answer to your question would have to be, "no".
  • lol - lemme guess, u dont like kyle cuz he's whippin' ur favorite drivers *** each and every weekend (regardless of series)?

he has done nothing wrong, he's yet to cause any problems/wreck anyone - with that said, why are we even replying to this question?

the boy is aggressive AND damn good -its obvious he knows how to handle his car.

funny thing is, im a "JR" fan and yet here i am saying "kudos" to kyle............?!!!!!!!?

he's fun to watch and deserves every point he's earning.
  • no
  • I think I'm the only one that noticed the overwhelming sarcasm in this question.
  • Nope. It will take care of itself when his luck runs out and he Wrecks everyweek. then he wouldn't feel as if he is above the limits, and i see it in the very near future.. I personally cant wait the see the JGR team all explode on each other! there is more bad Attitude there with those 3 drivers than an entire high school Football team! Have you ever seen a happy interview with any of them?
  • Dude, i hate the 18 just as much as you. Parkin him is a bit much, but im pretty sick of him racing trucks
  • ^^^^ Im with ya etyronew!!! No way, if they park him they might as well have parked Dale Sr in his day because he did put the bumper to alot people too. Are Earnhardt Sr fans blind to that fact. Probally so.
  • No, he'll wreck himself soon enough. I like him though, he's got the fire not a lot of others have.
  • As much as I am NOT a Kyle Busch fan, (or Kurt either). I think parking him is a little over the top. He is what makes the race exciting. You never know what bone headed move he is gonna pull next. He doesn't fit the mold for the Nascar driver of today but its always good for Racin to have 1 or 2 rebels.
The problem would be if ALL the new guys coming in are just like him. THEN you have an serious issue.
  • 10.3.08

    Tony stwart winer?

    May be...

  • Tony STEWART wants decent tires to race on. Who can blame him?
  • Wow I live in Indiana and i was unaware that Hoosier Tires was foreign... Stupid, get you facts straight. Plus I believe it's up to the veteran drivers like stewart and Gordon who are well known in this sport who's opinions can really make a difference, to speak up and get things changed.
No offense but if a mid-pack driver said something about a tire issue no one would have really cared.
But the more of those Cups you have on your trophy self really does seem to make a difference.

I think Goodyear needs to step up and try to prevent another tire war. If that happened we would need SAFER barriers around the whole track and not just the corners.

    Firestone Headquartered in Nashville, TN
    Hoosier Headquartered Lakeville, IN
    Goodyear Headquartered Arkon, OH

    Foreign???
  • tony is one of the few drivers to vocalize what the other drivers don't have the guts to say. call it whining if you will but if he doesn't say something who will.
  • HE has cause to complain, and at least HE can spell!
  • Stewart is a whiner, you better look out if he dont get what he wants he might rat on you!
  • Smoke stood up...and was the voice for ALOT of people/ fans yesterday !! Not only for me...but for some fans that drove 200-300 miles,to see this
    dirt track race yesterday !!!
  • he's probably getting paid off by another tire company
  • It's one thing to say "Goodyear missed the mark with that tire and I hope they fix it before we come back" it is another thing altogether to go on a rant about how they can't do anything right, get run out of other racing and mention all their competitors to give them endorsements. This is a corporate partner of NASCAR and fat boy shouldn't be biting the hand that feeds him and judging by his bulging gut feeds him real well!!!!
  • He wasn't whining, he finished 2nd! He was just a little louder about the tires, just saying what the others were thinking.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Tony is not the only driver to say the tires were crap, Jr sat right beside him in interview, Gordon had the same issue, if the drivers, who know the cars much better than we do can tell the tires are no good, then they are to be believed...
  • I cannot stand Tony Stewart, but this time I don't think he was whining. He would have to be the only one complaining for it to be whining. But you had the race winner (Busch), the most popular driver (Jr.), and the most successful active driver(Gordon), all saying the same thing. And those are just the most prominent drivers that complained. I think he had a valid point.
  • Stewart didn't say foreign, he said different, the Goodyears weren't working.....
  • well , he is known to speak his mind.
  • Tony just speaks his mind even though he will be fined. Some of the other drivers are too meek to come out against NASCAR. I saw on ESPN some drivers may be fined for speaking out against the Edwards situation
  • its spelled STEWART and also WINNER, stay in school kid!
  • Yes he is a winer i couldnt agree more he is costantly throwing fits aboy different things
  • Tony should#nt of went on this rant yesterday. but he his probably right with is complaints
  • Im not that much of a fan of Goodyear tires myself and he drives for a living....im pretty sure Smoke has cause to voice his complaint
  • Tony is a whiner indeed but i can't blame the guy this time. The tires are crap
  • WHINER...NOT WINER....and I dont blame him. The tires are garbage and he isnt alone in saying so.
  • stwert wants foreign rubber under that camery, next they want they fenders off
  • yeah i agree with u
  • Since when are Hoosier and Firestone tires foreign?? Just checking....
  • I have a hard time with calling him a whiner after he finishes second. Had he said the same thing after running 20th, then OK. I'm no Stewart fan but I think its great when a driver says what they're truly thinking. Maybe they would more often if so many people like you weren't there to criticize their every word.
  • hes my favorate driver and trust me i wouldnt cheer for him if i thought he was winer

    firestone sounds good
  • A lot of people don't like the tires.

    The tires flat s***!!!

Goodyear needs some competition, their attitude appears as they can't be replaced.

    Wrong!!! Find someone new!
  • Wow... You have just proved how stupid you really are.
  • Foreign tires? I saw an article earlier today at school saying that they were saying something about Hoosier tires. Hmm...Hoosier tires are based in Indiana....so you're telling me I've been living in a different country for 18 years? This is news to me!

Tony has every right to complain, as does every driver out there. Those tires they've got are really bad. It takes at least one voice to get it changed, and leave it to Tony to really voice it!
  • Tony Stewart is not a whiner. I personally hate Tony Stewart but he was not the only driver who complained about the tires. Dale Jr. even agreed with him. By the way, next time you insult someone spell the insult right. Winer is spelled whiner.
  • He is not a winer. Alot of the drivers have been complaining about the tires. Does that make them all winers? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Stewert is too much like gordon if he doesnt win he cries and blames something else
  • Since when is Hoosier a foreign company?

Helps to know what you're talking about before you sound stupid.
  • Fox does it again.?

    May be...

  • i have found myself falling asleep on the couch.,...lol..yep...tv will or has killed this sport
  • Absolutly!! You are totally right. I don't understand why all the networks can't do like TNT did with the Pepsi 400 last year. And what ABC does with it IRL races. Everyone understands that commercials are a part of TV. But why not put a little box with the cameras still on?? It doesn't cost any extra, the cameras are still rolling when they're at commercials anyhow. That's what's nice about Directv Hotpass. You can still watch the race when fox is at yet another commercial break.
  • It sucks, wait till we get to ESPN, and they dont even do a 10 min post race show.
  • Not only did they do that, they also cut away from the race to show something on their cutaway car that they could have shown during the endless pre-race show.

I'm sick of the commercials and can't see why they don't do side by sides. Thumbs down to FOX!
  • "We interrupt this commercial segment to bring you a quick moment of racing"
  • You tell it bro! We r all tired of it! The racing SUCKED,and the only thing interesting was cut way short that u had to wait for other footage, before u could get the whole story.Way to go FOX!( LOSERS )
  • Yeah, it is pitiful. You would think they could at least show 20 laps in a row without a commercial.
  • typical fox bullshyt, like the other guy said, wait until we get to ESPN and you dont even get a post race interview.
  • I know, its getting ridiculous. Here is a link you can go to and look at how the race broadcast was done as far as how many commercials, restarts missed, race time, commercial time Etc. Here is the link:

    http://www.cawsnjaws.com/
  • Who else is tired of the Fox commercial network? I saw more commercials yesterday than I did race, I think. I mean history is being made, Kyle Busch is trying to do a victory spin/burn out and what do we get to see? Commercials. Then we get five minutes of interviews and victory lane to have Fox drop is into programming that was already in progress with only ten minutes left to go. WTF????!!!!
  • I hope it was a local programming issue, but the Albuquerque feed went to commercial right in the middle of the Tony Stewart post-race rant/interview. I had to watch ESPN Sportcenter to see the full length quote. I hope it was a mistake and not a function of someone trying to censor his Goodyear rant.
  • And things will only get worse...

I'm just glad I have a Directv HD-DVR demo. I don't have to pay the BS price for Hotpass, but I still get the programming. Hotpass atleast lets you see whats going on ON-TRACK during the commercials, and listen to the driver audio on the drivers channels even during the commercial. It's better than watching the BS advertising.
  • yeeaaaa im a stewart fan but i really wasnt happy with the whole toyota winning thing. but your right there were waaaaay too many commercials
  • Like Ive said on here many times 1,357 Commercials per race No Matter what Network does the Televising!!!!!!
  • Oh I sooo agree with you....in between doing all my daily bull everytime I actually got to sit to watch it all it was commercials. then they would come back for 1 min and right back to another its stinks!...getting as bad as TNT....I saw like two interviews at the end especially Tony's (wow) and that was about it....This was a important and history win for JGR and Kyle they should had more after....Hope Bristol is better!
    Have a good one......
  • The commercials were bad but I think the Pre Race show was worst. If the race says it will start at 1:30 why does it take nearly an hour longer to actually get it started. Not only that the pre race show before 1:30 was on for several hours before!! I just don't get it.
  • Was it the COT, the track, or the tires.?

    May be...

  • Today I think it was the Tires!!!!!!
  • It's a combination of the COT and the tires, but most of the blame will fall on Goodyear. They're bringing a safe tire to the tracks bu the problem is that the drivers cannot race against each other. There is supposed to be a Goodyear tire test at Darlington on Monday and Tuesday. Jeff Gordon,. Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman are supposed to test the tire. It'll be interesting to see what Goodyear comes up with and whether or not it fits in with Darlington
  • Tires. GOODYEAR, came with the wrong compound...AGAIN!
  • I agree with Smoke and Dale Jr...Goodyear, come on get it together..Its a problem Goodyr doesn't have any competition in Nascar they supply all the tires, remember Goodyear got dumped in F1, IRL,Champ Car.. Get these tires right, no body would do any side by side racing today...Everyone at my place for the race viewing party enjoyed the food the most..No one really raced..Sorry, been to Atlanta a lot where was that great Atlanta finish we always have???? Congrats to Kyle Busch, but it would have been great to see him have to race for the win, I was bored.. God, I hope Bristol is better, hope Goodyear brings the right tires..PLEASE.
  • All 3.
  • I strongly feel it is the tires, especially on this track. there is a reason why Indy Car and the World of Outlaws have removed this tire from use. i think they should drop Goodyear and adapt Hoosier tires because so many racing sports have changed to Hoosier and have had no problems with them. i mean do you want to risk the drivers lives because of a faulty tire. they need to change tires before NASCAR has a fatality in an accident from an incident with a defective tire. this will be too late to change, then. Save someones life, change the official tire of NASCAR from Goodyear to Hoosier tire.
  • COT and Good Year tires...Good Year needs to get it together or just pull out of NASCAR like Tony Stewarts dieing for em to do
  • All the drivers were complaining about their tires. Kevin Harvick said it was like driving dirt track today, with all the cars "fishtailing" around the corners. It seems like the only way the top drivers could even compete against eachother was to make their cars "powerslide" coming out of the turns. I've never noticed so many cars having that problem in one race before. Tony Stewart thought it was the tires. Is the future of NASCAR going to be "drifting" in the corners?
  • I think is just the Difference between the old car and the new car.
  • Its probally a little of the COT and alot of the tires. Your right about all the fishtailing, Ive never seen that many cars doing that. I mean you see Tony, Kyle B, Greg Biffle doing it all the time because that's just the way they drive but to see drivers like Jeff Burton, Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson doing it, its has to be the tires. There was just too much said this weekend about the tires so I have to believe it was Goodyear.
  • It did look like it was one of those "Drifting" races Ive seen on Speed. By the reactions from alot of the drivers it has to be the tires. I cant ever remember any other time that the drivers came down so hard on the tires. I mean every once in a while they complain about the tire but today they spoke in volumes about how bad the tires were. It wasn't just Tony, Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon threw in their opinions too.
  • 9.3.08

If you were given a chance to drive a nascar?

    May be...

  • I would probably drive it about 25 miles a hour as I probably would be scared stiff with all that power before me. I would probably have the slowest lap on record !!!
  • I would definitely put the hurt on the #88 car. Maybe that might change his mind about racing!

    Just kidding! ha!!!!!!!
  • It depends on which track and how many laps I get to run.
I think I'd probably run very slow at first, get a little braver and faster, and eventually hit the wall. But I'd be smiling! (If I'm still alive. lol)
  • None of the above depending on the track--I drive at 2 different tracks a Half Miler and a 3/8--So if at Martinsville-Bristol-Richmond--I could hold my own and stay off the wall!!!!!!!
  • Well I have been in a cup car, nascar racing experiance.6 cars on the track at the same time at spededs up to 175.The car I was in was a former Andy Petree car that Joe Nemechek had driven.
I finished 5th in my group. So I either have a top 5 finish at Talladega of finished next to last.
So I would have a 1 1/2,not the fastest time and not the slowest.
  • I would love to post the fastest lap time but I could hit the wall. I love driving fast but Ive never tried it on a banking oval track. Ah well, one can always dream.
  • driving an acronym isn't much fun.

Now if I had the chance to drive one of the stock cars that NASCAR uses I'd probably greet the wall
  • number three porobably but then im thinkin i might post the fastest lap time if i dont hit the wall!!!!!lol
  • would you
    1) post the fastest lap time
    2) get around the track but have a slow track time
3)push to hard and greet the wall
  • I would definitely go out on the track with the attitude and intent to post the fastest time ever! BUT........me and the wall would probably have a serious meeting! It sure would be fun to try, though.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • What high school did Greg Biffle go to?

    May be...

  • Camas High School. I am from Vancouver originally so this one I do know lol
  • Camas High School in Camas Washington. The PDF file as my source is board meetings making a day Greg Bifffle day.
  • You mean which one did he drive past.
  • Why is there so many whiners in the nascar section? ive been reported twice.?

    May be...

  • LOL I've been reported 7 times, brother. 4 of them were Dale Jr questions, too.
  • Mosly TROLLS>>>>

I have been reported for answering a yes or no opinion question!!!

    LOL.

Some people need to get out of Mom's basement and gert some sunlight once in a while.
  • I know what you mean! You'd probably be reported if you said the sky was blue. Uh oh, now I'm probably going to get reported. lol
  • You think its bad here ??....
Try being in the Nascar Garage !!!!
  • Yeah I'm good for a daily violation. My days not complete till I get one in my inbox.
  • You sound like you fit right in to the whining pool!
    Whiner!
  • Stupidity-Jealousy-People Dont Have a Sense of Humor-People Dont Have anything better to do--People Cant accept the Fact that others have a Different Opinion than them-People Cant Accept That others arent the Fan of their Drivers-People Cant Accept the Truth!!!!!---I have had several answers removed because of a question Like This--(Who won Last Weeks Race?)---10 People before me Say Carl Edwards--I say I agree with the Others and get reported for NOT ANSWERING A QUESTION!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!
  • good one
  • People shouldn't condemn Jeffie for his lifestyle. He was born that way :^(
  • Because NASCAR is all about politics, and commercial money, not the sport. Therefore people get brainwashed into believing the better drivers get special treatment and others get cheated. For example is Dale, Jr. getting special treatment, no he is just a damn good driver. Is Dale, Jr. being cheated, no he is just not the caliber of driver the media makes him out to be.
