Scott Kallita R.I.P.?

May be...

  • I've never really follow NHRA in general, but this is just horrible. It didn't make it any better that they actually just SHOWED his accident. My God.....I'm shaking right now.
  • i just heard it in espn rip
  • I am very hurt to here the news my 9 year old son and I have attended the NHRA race held in Commerce Ga. each of the last 6 years and have had the opputunity to speak to to Scott on more than one occasion and he always made time for his fans. He was a very exciting guy who loved what he did, he will be deeply missed. My son was in bed when this happened I will have to break the news to him in the morning as I did when we lost Eric, my thoughts and prayers are with his family. GOD BLESS
  • Our prayers for his family. Even though N.H.R.A. is one of the safest, it hurts to see the loss.
  • They need to come up with away to pull the chutes in an emergency " electronic" like the monster trucks!!!
RIP scott, prayers are with you and your family. Fellow racer here and i know the risk, but only a few know the rewards!!!
  • He died doing what he loved to do. My prayers are with his family and the entire racing community.
  • That was horrible... The shut down was just too short.. I am betting he passed out or something before he hit the net..... It is SO sad! We have lost so many racers it seems recently! Very very unexpected!

    Holly Clark
    (the Mustang Designer's daughter)
  • Scott was killed in a qualifying accident. Who else is sad about his passing?
  • They interviewed Tony & Cruz Pedregon. Both were stunned, both said they all know the dangers of driving one of those bombs.
John Force was lucky he wasn't killed last year. I'll bet he's having second thoughts, Medlen was killed, and his daughter Ashley is driving one now.
  • me.i will be saying a prayer for them tommrow at church.
  • I am . I just heard it on ESPN they showed the accident. So sad : (
  • Whos your fave driver that is...?

    May be...

  • Dale Sir!! Awsome driver, balls out!! What racing is all about!!
  • Dale Earnhardt Sr. ,
Adam Petty (just waaay too soon)
I miss Benny as a Commentator. it's hard to listen to the others sometimes.

    The Heaven 500:::

The Heaven 500 was just getting started, An All-Star race, for the racing departed. Heroes of the track, with nerves like steel, And sitting on the pole, was a cat named Neil.
Adam Petty was there with his beautiful smile, Kenny Irwin determined, to finish in style. Lee Petty was glowing, with that Grandfather pride, With Davey & Clifford, both in a new ride.
Fireball Roberts floated in on a cloud, While Tony Roper waved, to the Heavenly crowd. Detjens вЂ" Shear вЂ" Schill вЂ" then Tim Richmond appeared, Kulwicki strapped in, while the racing fans cheered.
The honorary starter, for this Heavenly race, Ralph Earnhardt was chosen, a tear on his face. But the red flag flew, just before it had begun, And every eye, was open wide, and looking to the SON.
A last minute entry, was the cause of delay, While the fans were instructed, to kneel and to pray. The Heavens turned black, and the clouds turned dark, The lightning was brilliant, the thunder did bark.
Then out of the rumble, for all there to see, The clouds formed a number, a black number three. The Heavenly fans, then erupted with pride, And welcomed this star, who had recently died. With a bolt of lightning, Dale Earnhardt arrived, as he stood before Jesus, his spirit revived. Jesus hugged his precious child, then revealed his perfect plan, “I brought you home, to let you know, that I’m your biggest fan!”
“The Intimidator was needed, for this Heavenly race, leaving all of you earthly fans, with honor & grace.” Ralph Earnhardt then stepped forward, embracing his son, then whispered in the ear of Dale, “Let’s go and have some fun!”
As Ralph stood proud, the green flag flew, The crowd went wild and the tension grew. And just like Salvation, the admission was free, As every eye focused, on the black number three.
When the checkered flag dropped, no dry eyes remained, It was a photo finish, as Jesus explained. He said, “There are no losers on this Heavenly track, This was a welcome home party, for The Man In Black!”
  • all of the above plus glenn "fireball" roberts. i never saw him run, but had his career not been cut short, think of what he, along with junior johnson and ned jarrett, could have continued to accomplish - and the stories they could tell.
  • Mine would be Dale Earnhardt Sr
  • Benny Parsons.
  • All of them.
  • Dale Senior & Benny Parsons are two that truly broke my heart. In addition to all the rest of them. They were special people who left their mark on NASCAR. Can u imagine all of them sitting up there watchin' the boy's racin today.... =o~}

    Can't forget Adam Petty.
  • "Special K" Alan Kulwicki; he died in an airplane on April Fools day in 1993, a year after he won the Winston cup in 1992.

I like him because he was an owner/driver and an owner/driver winning the Winston Cup, shoot, that is just awesome. That would be like Robby Gordon winning the Sprint cup.
  • BP. I was really young when he was racing so i never seen him race, but he done a great job commentating and i miss him more than anybody else. He was a great guy who really knew his nascar
  • Alan Kulwicki
  • DALE
  • Dale -yeah i'm starting to miss B.P. to
  • I've got to say Dale Earnhardt Sr.
  • #48 JIMMIE JOHNSON,BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY WHOO-HOO.
  • Mine would be Fireball Roberts...It's so ironic that he died in a fire. He had a lot of charisma..
  • Alan Kulwicki, without question, he bucked the system and beat the odds.
  • i have to say harold scheppel he was just getting sterted in the sixtys he ran a couple of winston cup races then crashed at darlington will practicing i was 12 he was my uncle
  • In Heaven.

Mine would be Davey Allison because it was my dad's fave and he (my dad) named me after him.
  • Benny Parsons.
  • That would be Dale Earnhardt but I'm really starting to miss BP. Que the duck.
  • Davey Allison, he was my favorite until his tragic death.
  • Dale Sr.
  • You One Strange Dude, Alright I Have To Say Dale Sr.

    Who Made You President?

I Was Not I'm The Voters Booth! J/K Little Man!
  • Where does Taylor Earnhardt go to college? Is she married?

    May be...

  • you a stalker
  • Don't know if she's in college but Taylor Earnhardt competes on the equestrian barrel racing circuit. She's pretty good.

I think she's 19 or 20 and I do not think she is married.
  • I LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT HER BECAUSE I'M
FAN OF DALE E. OF NASCCAR.
  • well if you are a fan of Dale E why be interested in where his daughter goes to college???
Shouldn't you be more interested in how his son is doing driving race cars than where TE goes to college???
  • Hi Creepy!
  • HEY FLUFFY & BEANGREE, U ARE VERY SICKO. U NEVER UNDERSTAND! U IDIOT! Report It
  • Is Taylor Earnhardt working for DEI? IF SO WHAT DOES SHE DO THERE?

    May be...

  • Yes she does, part time only, she works in the office area....this is her last year there, as she is going off to college....

she worked there when Dale Sr was alive, filing, and answering the phones some........
  • SHE DOES THE DIRTY WORK
  • I don't know where she is working but here is a picture from 3 years ago. She is 19 now

    http://www.jamd.com/search?assettype=g&a...
  • I would love seeing a pix of Taylor on cpu!

Those are the only two.....I dont really dislike anyone, but those two I cant stand.
  • I was thinking back to Homestead in 2005...?

    May be...

  • Jimmie was in 2nd place, behind Tony by 52 points going into Homestead that year. In 2005 Tony finished 20th there, scoring 118 points. Jimmie would have had to get a top 4 or 5 in order to win the championship and I personally don't think he would have done that well. Lord knows I'm a Jimmie defender until the bitter end but it just wasn't in the cards, apparently. It is possible though, he did have a 2nd and 3rd in 2004 and 2003 respectively. I guess we will never know, just another one of racing's woulda/shoulda/couldas.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • I think it depends on how good his car was that night and how much better or worse he would have done that Tony! Hey thanks for reminding me of that race! Tony Stewart is my favorite driver and I love remembering him winning the championship that night!

#48JJFan Tony did not finish 20th he finished 15th!
  • I believe he was third going in. Biffle was 2nd and Edwards was 4th. Biffle won the race, Carl came in 8th, and Johnson 40th. The final standings had Jimmie 127 behind Stewart. Edwards and Biffle tied, but Biffle had more wins, so he was listed as second in standings. I remember that season, Jimmie was so good going in, but just fell of midway through the chase.

Do you think this cost him 3 straight and a chance at 4 in a row this year. I can't remember the points going into that race.
  • Considering Tony finished 20th in that race, if Jimmie would have finished in the top 5, he would have had it. I will never forgot that. He had just come over the radio and said he thought he had a tire going down. He and Chad chose to stay out and hope for a caution so he would not go a lap down. The race went to commercial break, and then quickly cut back into the race and showed Jimmie in the wall. Had to watch the instant replay to see the crash. I was so incredibly bummed. Then my brother called laughing his butt off and rubbing it in. LOL! My brother is a diehard Stewart fan.
  • Who is th most underrated 1.5 mile driver?

    May be...

  • Greg Biffle, he has won races on them, remember his 2005 season? Not much is said about him in the COT, but I doubt he as forgot how to drive on the 1.5ers. Roush will figure out the COT on the these tracks, and watch out the Biff will be coming!
  • I have to go with Martin Truex Jr too!! ( great mind think alike right LOL)
  • Truex Jr.
    Then maybe Vickers
  • Jeff Burton
  • Mark Martin.
  • Marky Mc-Martin
    lolz
  • Jeff Burton
  • I will say Martin Truex Jr..
  • Martin Truex, Jr.
  • Gotta go with the majority....Martin Truex.
    Peace n smiles :))
  • Mark Martin.
  • I gotta say The Biff !
  • Greg Biffle may not have had the finishes his teammates (namely Edwards and Kenseth) have had on the intermediate tracks the last couple of years but he is every bit as capable of driving on them. He always seems to have some sort of issue that keeps him from getting the end result he deserves but he knows how to go fast around the banked 1 1 /2 mile tracks that make up the bulk of the cup schedule. Jimmie is the best there is at them but I think he gets the credit he deserves for that. I sometimes refer to him as Mr. Mile and a Half or the Cookie Cutter King!
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Martin Truex Jr too
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Is there a gay driver in F1?

    May be...

  • Yea...

    all of them!
  • I don't think they are all straight. Do you think the same?
  • Of the modern lot, the name "Sutil" is the one which comes up the most often in this context.

There has only been one OPENLY gay F1 driver, Mike Beuttler. He drove 28 championship races in a March (for both the factory team and his own private entries) in 1971-73, with a best finish of 7th in the 1973 Spanish GP. He was a teammate of Peterson and Lauda (and Nanni Galli) in F1. His best result in racing was coming fourth in the non-Championship F1 "Grand Prix of the Italian Republic" at Vallelunga in 1972 (although only 8 drivers were entered, one failed to start, two others failed to finish and another was not classified, 21 laps behind...so he in fact finished last of the drivers who had a trouble-free afternoon...).
  • Lewis Hamilton....went up Raikkonen's ar5e in the last race.
  • Sutil is pretty gay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VkRgUcP_...
  • Jenson Buttman
  • Lewis Hamilton
  • i have to agree.. Hamilton
  • lmao @ Gatorade. Sutil certain minces it doesn't he.

You'd be best of listening to our Rosbif, he's spot on 99.9 % of the time. I have gay friends and none of them have mentioned any of the current drivers so I don't think any of the present drivers are. People here are only calling Hamilton gay because they don't like him.
  • Ive no idea are you volunteering yourself
  • Not that I am aware of, although Kimi and Phil both have very colourful cars.
  • NO ONE LOVES ROBERT DOWNEY JR MORE THAN I Do?

    May be...

  • like seriousley
  • He can be quite funny at times, but I liked his old stuff better than the more recent films. Have you seen "The Pick-Up Artist" yet? It's very 1980s, light, and funny; but then so is Robert Downey Jr.
  • Dawwg, im a dude. and if i was gay. I would seriously think about marrying him. HAHAHA! He is a mega spunk. HAHA!

This is a guy by the way. HAHA! See, thats how attractive he is.
  • YOUR RIGHT!
  • 19.6.08

What drivers were born with SILVER SPOONS in their mouth?

    May be...

  • Paul Menard is the only one I know of besides the open wheel crowd.
  • I am a Paul Menard fan and to the guy who said he hasn't won yet he won back in 2006 in the Busch series at the Milwaukee Mile. He is a very successful driver in the other series he has ran. His dad is supporting him which is very fatherly of him.
  • how can you be born with a spoon stuck in your mouth.
  • Paul Menard, who I also heard his dad is with Teresa Earnhardt. Denny Hamlin, I don't think he's rich but his mommy and daddy mortgaged their house so sonny boy could keep racing, what happened to making the kid work for it himself like Dale made Jr??????????
  • Kyle Petty, Dale Jr, i don't care what people say just like petty Jr can never win another race again and he will still have a ride on last name alone. Paul Menard you can say, but like was said before he has had success in other circuits and will have success in the near future.DEI is turning that program around slowly but it is heading the right direction. but i will say he wouldn't have had a ride for this long with out his father, but hey that's true for two of the most popular drivers in nascar kyle and Jr.
  • jr
  • I am convinced by this question and several of the answers that the bar has been reached which keeps men forever in ignorance. That bar is called contempt prior to investigation.
  • Kyle Petty and Dale Jr.
  • T bone...junior had the MONEY plus the popularity etc.....RTFQ
  • Paul Menard...he's only the son of one of the richest men in the world, and has never won a race in his 3-4 year career including the Nationwide series. Not to mention...Dario Franchitti, Juan Montoya, Carpentier, Hornish, and all of the open-wheelers. I hate drivers who come in from Open-Wheel. They should have to climb the ladder in all the other series first like the other drivers.
  • It doesnt really matter who has the money..sponsors pay for everything anyway. All you really need is a great sponsor on your car week after week. We, as fans, basically do the rest...
  • Paul Menard is one of em. I quit after that.

And by the way JR isn't one of them. If you know anything about NASCAR you would know Dale SR made his kids work for everything they got.

Juan Pablo was raised in the slums of Bogota amidst drug cartels people. I beg you to get your facts straight.
  • Paul Menard
  • They had the $$$ to make it in NASCAR?
  • I have no clue, but do you really wear a rainbow bandana? lol
  • Will you be watching Donington on Sunday?

    May be...

  • Absolutely. I love MotoGP!

edit: I can't figure out why I get a thumbs down every time I say I like MotoGP. Is someone on here anti-motorcycles or something?
  • do you mean moto gp,...yes..........<^><......
  • What or who is Donington? OK, thanks for the info.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • never heard of it. this is the NASCAR section, the people on here will all be watching the NASCAR road course race from northern california sunday.
  • I don't think anyone watches more racing then me. The chance is very likely between truck racing, nationwide racing, cup racing, French Grand Prix, Nhra and whatever else may be on that I don't know about.
  • i cant wait for it woop woop!!!! will anyone be staying in sunday to watch it? :~)
  • Is that that big AC/DC concert? I would enjoy that but sadly, I have no idea what you are talking about...
  • I will either be at work, home watching the NASCAR race, or at the park with my son.
  • what she talking about
    i thought i was high
  • Sure, what channel does it come on?

So would that be around 6 or 7 hours earlier in the United States?

    Cool...!!!
  • Is that like ARCA ReMax or something? Don't tell me, it's on the Whelen circuit. No, it's the Camping World East Series! How could I forget?

    Seriously, what is Donington!
  • Will you join me today in honoring...?

    May be...

  • Whatsup Guys!!!! Oh man thank you all for honoring me. I enjoy this section so much and have wonderful people around me! You made my day sooo much better! I would like to thank each and everyone of you! Have a great week. =D

My choice for 7th place is Paul Menard
  • congrats! you are cool peoples!
  • I like him I think he's a good kid with good views and a true love for racing!! And he doesn't let people get him down he sticks with his drivers and stays true and that is an endearing quality in anyone!! I also like his answers and his points of view so enjoy your day and have a good one!!!

oh 7th at infineon: don't know maybe Clint
  • * cheers the fanatic*

    Boris Said 7th place
  • A newbie but one with some sense. I like his questions and answers. He definitely has a knowledge of the sport and like so many of us....he's true to his drivers. Bonus...he's a Bow Tie fan!. Raising my coffee mug to him! Welcome to the gang!
    Enjoy you honor...it's your day to shine! Peace n Smiles =o~}

    Oops!! Infineon....Robby Gordon

7th at Infineon will be Boris Said.
  • You beat me to him Tom, he was going to be the honoree yesterday but I wasn't on here. Cheers to Truex Menard Fanatic! He has been a contact of mine since last year. He is another Great Nascar fan who doesn't waiver no matter how much crap is throw his way towards his drivers. He is very knowledgeable at knowing what he talks about when he comes in here to answer questions. For a young man, Truex Menard Fanatic you got it going on!! Have a great day!!

    Aric Almirola will finish 7th.
  • Of course. Go Truex Fan! Good dude.
  • Cheers to Menard-Truex Fanatic, its been a rough yr for ya, but sticking by your team and drivers and Dei, its been a long rough yr, hang in there, just call it growing pains.....

7th at Infineon...I'm going with David Ragan..(yes I really said that)

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Sure. Here's to you Truex/Menard Fanatic.

I hope you enjoy your own special day.

Ahhhh!! Got me again 7th at Infineon will be Robby Gordon.
  • Pop open a cold one Mr Truex Menard Fanatic because this buds for you.
7th at Infineon??? hummmmm...Lets go with Truex, for the honoree, that would be a nice top 10 for him
  • This is a very positive way of saying thanks to all the good conributors here. Here's to you Truex Menard Fanatic rock on.
  • Congrats to Truex Menard Fanatic. You are one of the true fans who stick by their drivers no matter what.

Also cheers to Tregostevo from yesterday because I missed the thread.
  • Truex
    Menard
    Fanatic

He's new here but I took a liking o this rookie.

Everyday we will honor a different member here of Nascar Nation but here is the catch, the toastee gets to pick the best answer (via email to me or writing in their response).

Let the @ss kissing commence. lol

Who will come in 7th at Infineon?
  • Who thinks formula 1 sucks?

    May be...

  • MotoGP is much better in my opinion but the Formula 1 has improved over recent years.
  • ***RAISES HAND***
  • I think trolls think so?
  • Still watch it but not as much as i use to when M Schumacher was behind the wheel.
  • Yep. It's cack.
  • Im actually stunned, what a fuc**ng ridiculous question, if you ask this in the NASCAR section you may get a response.
  • Y?

    Please ladies control the language.
  • Whats it taste like. Oh yes and go away.
  • You suck you stupid *** troll , you must be one of those backward NASCAR fans who hate everything that isn't popular in America. Example: soccer.
  • .

  • Not as much as that redneck NASCAR B/S
  • Daniel is that your wife?

(That's an answer to the question asked, so I can't get reported for just wanting the 2pts...)
  • so what your saying is, Formula 1 is a female?
  • troll

read this then thumb downers then judge me. This person is a troll as you will very soon find out
  • Yes F1 sucks, I just come in here to spread disinformation...
  • Its great.
  • What would you rather be...?

    May be...

  • None of the above.

I'd like to be the owner/creator of NASCAR.
  • none of the above
  • I'd like to drive I might kill myself but it would be one he** of a way to go!! I've always wanted to go to that Petty driving school thing but my husband thinks I'm already he** on wheels and won't let me LOL :(
  • I would rather be a crew member just because I like to tinker with my hands and besides that it looks cool.
  • I would rather be just a LOYAL PRETTY FAN. :)
  • DRIVER, hands down. Well, my hands will be on the steering wheel, but I mean hands down I definetely would rather be a driver.
  • Crew member/Gas kid
  • neither\none
  • crew member, play it safe, do i get 10 points now?
  • A driver but...

not in Nascar, you see, as big of a Nascar fan I am, I also love MotoGP. and I would love to race a bike in that series.
  • Owner/Driver is a tough row to hoe. I think i would just like to be a successful NASCAR driver
  • id love to be Part Owner but if not full time driver owning and running an driving for the same team can distract you from your driving
  • CEO of Nascar..but I'll stick with just being a fan.
  • Owner, I'm good with finances, and running a business(I own one)
Could never be a driver, noooo....I'd be r.i.p. either by being taken out, taking myself out, or stroking out!
And I'm not mechanically inclined, at all.
  • (owner/driver) I want to be and owner and have fun as well
  • Driver for sure.
  • drivers wife
  • Driver baby!!!! The rush would be so cool, I'm an adrenaline junkie any way. I love to drive fast. That would be one of the coolest things to do but Id probably cause a few wrecks..
  • Driver.

    Maybe fan.
  • Driver, cause everyone would bet getting out of my way, I'd scare all of them, my nickname would be Rage, they'd all be saying here comes speedway rage, look out.. I'd have everyvbody in the wall.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Sitting on top of a motor home in the infield with a case of cold beers and a stacked redneck chick.
  • I could've been a driver ( i avoided employment on a pit crew team ) but I probably would have been crippled driving the old cars. I like the COT and if I had a chance to drive today I probably would, even though racing is so restrictive. I missed my calling.
  • I'd like to be a part time driver.
  • Owner
    Driver
    Crew member
    I'll throw owner/driver in there

I want to drive, owner/driver would be cool but too much responsibility for someone to have and drive at the same time. Plus if you wreck, it comes out of your pocket.
  • A DRIVER!! Just once! I would LOVE to drive one just once before I die. The rest of it...owner, crew member, etc...does not get the andrenalin pumping like driving!!
  • 18.6.08

Who is your Favorite F1 Driver?

    May be...

  • Mansell ,Frentzen and Vettel, in that order.
    I don't dislike anyone either.
  • Fernando Alonso

Schumi and Senna All Time but I will stick up for Lewis on any given day. I love how young talent irks people enough to act like rubbish.
  • Hey, Jessica.
My favorite is Kimi Raikkonen. He's sooooo talented!!!
And... i respect the competition, also ;)
  • and who do you dislike
    i like Kimi Räikkönen
    i disllike none
  • Kimi Raikkonen from day 1. He's got talent, patience, determination and a never say die attitude. As for dislike, I'm not naming anyone because I might change my mind anyday. Come to think of it, there's no driver I really dislike.
  • Schumacher and the rest of the Ferrari drivers are at the top of my list followed by Kubica and Heidfeld.

Least favorite include Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

I wish I could comment more on past drivers, but I didn't start liking F1 until the first modern USGP.
  • nico rosberg and robert kubica...
i can't stand lewis hamilton! formula one has changed into the lewis hamilton show... granted, not so much his fault, but his arrogance isn't helping!
  • I like Alain Prost,Gerhard Berger,Damon Hill,Heinz Harold Frentzen,Mika Hakkinen,Kimi Raikkonen. I dislike His Royal Highness Lewis"the brat"Hamilton
  • Past: Michael Schumacher
    Present: Kimi Räikkönen

    GO FERRARI!
  • I Dont have one
  • I have'nt been watching enough to start following a driver really, but I'm starting to lean towards Kubica. But the more I look into F1 I've found myself fascinated with the late Aryton Senna, makes me wish I watched in those days.
  • Button has my vote RГ¤ikkГ¶nen is cool though lol deslike michael schmaker << spelt wrong well b4 he retired
  • Who will win in France ?

    May be...

  • Massa came close last year but was denied by Raikkonen who drove a measured race on a good strategy.
    That must have hurt.
I'm sure Felipe will be looking to get back at him this year like Raikkonen wants to put his championship back on track and erase the memory of Monaco.
It will be a very interesting battle between the two.
This is a one on one battle, if Massa wants to be world champion here is a great chance to put Kimi in his place, my money is on him to win this race.
This race will reveal a lot about which of the two wants to become champion more badly and is up to it as well this year.
  • Hamilton,Raikkonen,Alonso ,Kubica or Massa

    Pick a winner! ! !
  • When is the Tour De Force?
  • Kimi Raikkonen of Course
  • Ferrari should dominate and I fear that Kubica will have a little bad luck so I see the result being:

    1st Räikkönen, 2nd Massa, 3rd Webber (a just have a feeling), 4th Kubica.

Hamilton will crash out trying to come through the field.
  • I have to go with Massa. No brainer for me.
  • raikkonen
  • Tarso Marques.
  • Why do people think F1 is better?

    May be...

  • Hey. Don't be stirring crap up over here Jessica and Mr President. These are my folks also and most of whom don't go stirring up the pot in the NASCAR section. Go back to NASCAR if you're not here to discuss F1.
  • It's a taste issue really, you've got to remember F1's an international sport, while NASCAR's limited to North America so there are a lot more F1 fans than NASCAR fans. Now while I've said many a nasty thing about F1 in the past, I've watched a few races and actually found it interesting, then again I've also found some old Youtube footage and was completely awed by the driving in them(Look up Senna/Mansell at Monaco, it was a chess match at 200 mph).
  • F1 is faster, and they do more than LEFT TURNS ONLY. Also, the F1 cars sound more beautiful, and are more technologically advanced (although Nascar IS high tech too).

Also, the track designs for F1 are usually more more interesting than a boring old oval.
  • for a start calling people retards is not going to give a good impression of you. We like what we like and shouldn't disrespect people over their choices. I happen to love Formula 1 but I don't go round calling NASCAR fans retards. I hope if you watch it you will enjoy it.
  • 'Better' is up to each person to decide. I love them both. I could write a great argument for each. The cars are faster, more sophisticated, more beautiful. Its aWORLD championship. Races have names like Japanese Grand Prix instead of the Hardees 250. F1 is much more about sport and less about a show or entertainment. Someone once said F1 is sport, Nascar is entertainment disguised as sport. When you watch an F1 race, everything just seems more prestige. I could on and on. But dont forget, I love nascar too. I just made the argument for F1. Nascar is a cold, tall, draft beer. F1 is a glass of fine wine. Take your pick.
  • Because Formula 1 is the highest level of motorsport competitions. The technology used on the cars is far more advanced.

Dear Jessica, i suggest you watch the upcoming race in France this Sunday and see for yourself why F1 is - not better - but the best!
  • F1 sucks! Don't watch it!!!! U will die of bordem in 3 seconds!!!

    EDIT
No wonder I'm getting so many thumb downs.
I forgot it was the F1 section...
    EDIT

    Well sassy Tbone lol.
Don't have to get mad I mean sheesh...
I'm giving my point of view.
Your not discussing F1 neither huh?????
So we are even know.Comprendo!? lol
  • It's a matter of taste. What you can factually say is that there's more money in F1, and this translates in high technology. Even the drivers are more hi tech in that they have to be at the top of their performance, youth, physical strength etc.

I say this because of the sponsors, you look at F1 and they have all this corporations like ING, Vodafone, AT&T, Emirates etc. It's almost like a statement about the size of your corporation to be in F1. An exception to this is Redbull racing, they do advertise an actual product and they are pretty much omnipresent in motorsport.

In nascar you see this cars with MnM's ads. There's actually nothing wrong with that in fact it just means the ads are more oriented towards actual product promotion. But as you can see obviously there's more money in F1 and as I said this translates in a more elaborate show.

I think it's a bit smug to say that F1 is 'better'. It's different and it is seen by lots of people around the world so you might want to check it out just to see what all the fuss is about.

EDIT: By the way the next race, the French Grand Prix, is this sunday, it should be in the morning for the USA, they have the exact time / time converter at formula1.com.
  • NASCAR racecars are a lot more clunky than open-wheel machines. They're less powerful and are a lot less sophisticated, too. This is why open-wheel is better. However, I do enjoy the drama that goes along with NASCAR. It's like a soap opera for guys (and some really cool chicks.... like you).
  • All i hear is retards talking about F1, and i dont get it. i personally prefer NASCAR, more powerful and all around better, but someone please provide me with some insight as to why people think F1 is so much better?
  • retards eh?!

guessing you're a fat american who has no brain....
  • I think the comparison is like comparing a burger to a steak. Many people don't want to have to dress up to go to a fancy restaurant to eat and prefer to wander into McDonalds in their jeans and get a burger. That's NASCAR. F1 is more like eating in a fancy restaurant - clearly more sophisticated and a lot more expensive. There are also times when you just don't want to do it.

If I could afford to eat at top restaurants all the time, I would so I prefer F1. Nothing wrong with the drivers in NASCAR - - they are good at what they do but the cars leave me cold. It just doesn't interest me as - for me - it is a bit of a soap opera.
  • i will tell you why i like f1 better,

the single biggest reason is, put the two in the same track to race each other and the f1 car wins, you could even swap drivers, and the f1 car still wins,

technology - f1 pionears technology for the entire automotive world, nascar still uses carburators, and just this year stoppes using leaded fuel, that puts a nascar about 20 to 30 years behind my pontiac g6

tracks - higher bank, lower bank ture oval, or tri oval, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 mile ovals, not a big diffrence, where as f1 tracks are fairly unique with individual charicter, though i will admit all the new tracks are becomming flat and bland,

race finishes - in f1 the best car wins unless he crashes
in nascar the 2nd or 3rd car when the phantom caution drops is usually the winner

things nascar does right compaired to f1,
drivers do inter views, we get more of the individuals personality , f1 we get "how are you running on fuel" the answer is a nervous smile, nascar is talking to crew chiefs tire guys and team owners during the race, f1 doesnt,

nascar has far more on track action the bad side is the first 3 hours of a race mean nothing, it can be shortened to a half hour 20 lap sprint to achieve the same goal , f1 badly needs to fix its on track action and i think next seasons rules will do this

nascar does a far better job of promotion here in the states than f1 does,
  • F1 basically has more variety,
    Of tracks
Of car designs ( not ammounts)
    Of countries
    Of driver/ fan nationality
    of horsepower
and a greater level of technology, I understand ( though I don't personally) the attraction of NASCAR but I feel it is one of the weaker forms of motorsport, Indy car is ok though....
  • Stupid question but is it jimmie or jimmy i always thought jimmie was correct?

    May be...

  • The back cover of Nascar 09 is wrong his name is Jimmie Johnson not Jimmy Johnson.
  • Your right and Trego got it first. It's Jimmie Johnson.
  • Jimmie
  • It is Jimmie. GO 48!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Jimmie, it was spelled Jimmy on the 09 site for a while too
  • Jimmie Johnson
    Jimmy Spencer

I 2nd that jaynarie. How could EA blunder that bad? They've had him in game or on cover for the past 5 yrs
  • Jimmie. That shows that EA doesn't care nor watch NASCAR.All they care about is money, money, and more money.
Bring back Papyrus and the NASCAR Racing season Series or even have Codemasters make NASCAR games!Have anyone but EA make NASCAR games that actually cares about making them good.
  • then i saw it spelled jimmy on the back of nascar 09

    johnson by the way
  • Jimmie is correct. I'm surprised they would mess up that badly! A lot of people on here misspell it, but EA Sports misspelling it is ridiculous!
  • It is Jimmie not to be confused by the Coach Jimmy Johnson.
  • It's Jimmie. The other one is the former coach of the Hurricanes and Cowboys.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • it's Jimmie, EA is just stupid
  • French GP quiz, anybody?

    May be...

  • It will be held in France!
  • Yes, it was an FW08C...the FW09 made it's debut in the last race of the 1983 season at Kyalami. Report It
  • 1. Works on IE but not FF. Its Giancarlo Bagheti in the Ferrari Dino 156.

    2. The car is Porsche 718(201), the circuit is Rouen-les-Essarts and the year is 1962.

    3. 1981, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987 so it's 5 times.

    4. I think that there are 6. Or maybe 8.

    5. there are two, Giancarlo Bagheti in 1961 and Luigi Fagioli(shared drive with Fangio) in 1951.

    6. It won the race in 1975 driven by Niki Lauda, it's a Ferrari 312T.

    7. It looks like Gilles Villeneuve in a 1979 312T4 which is memorable for this :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kcdiRHSj...

    8. The nearest car is a Brabham BT44 and the furthest is a Williams FW09 and this model finished 5th and 6th in the 1983 French GP, driven by Keke Rosberg and Jaques Laffite. *The Williams may be a FW08C, every photo I see seems to have a slightly different livery.*
  • 1. Who is this on his way to victory? http://lh6.ggpht.com/_eyGFti_LmKw/R0Oga0...
    2. The driver is Carel GODIN de BEAUFORT. Car/circuit/year?

    3. In 1981 Piquet and Prost shared the podium at the French GP for the first time...how many times did they finish together on the podium in France?
    4. How many drivers took part in a French GP at all three of Dijon, Paul Ricard & Magny Cours?
    5. How many drivers scored their only GP win in France? Who?
    6. Which year did this car win the French GP? http://pleingaz.bleublog.lematin.ch/file...
    7. Driver/car/year/reason for retirement in French GP? (PS...no wonder so many drivers ended up with serious leg injuries in that era, is it?) http://pixdaus.com/pics/1205965834uqPei1...

Was Rules-Gate a diversion from the sex scandal?

    May be...

  • How exactly do you know it was someone from Hater Nation who reported you? What is with all these conspiracy theories popping up again? I thought we were past all that! There has to be a full investigation on the law suit. Lets wait until we actually have some info before we judge any damages that may be forthcoming.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Yes, it's not a COINCIDENCE that a 2 YEAR streak snaps all of a sudden while NASCAR deals with a SCANDAL is it?

More surprising is that is was THE MOST POPULAR driver who won HMMMM...that will sway some ATTENTION from the 225 lawsuit...

JR NATIONS take off your BLINDERS and see what everyone else seen. Dale JR is no better than he was last week HE JUST SAVED FUEL. So has CASEY MEARS before.
  • i think steffy's right
  • How dare you question the integrity of Brain France!......LOL
  • Once again, no.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Did the questionable calls from Talladega damage NASCAR?

No it didn't. Just like then, people got mad, stewed for a week and a half then moved on.
I have to ask once again, since somebody from Hater Nation reported the first one. What is your take, and will it damage Nascar?
  • Junior winning on Father's day, after not winning in 76 races, which, by the way is the total number of wins his father had in his career...right when NASCAR is looking for a feel good story? Sound familiar? brings back memories of junior winning the very next Daytona race after his dad was killed there earlier that year...when NASCAR needed a feel good story. Hmm, coincidence? They sure know how to script it don't they?
  • definately a diversion
  • Well....what was happening at the time Biffle didn't make it to the finish line under caution and out of gas because they gave him the win. Or the time Stewart ran into the back of the pace car??????????? No penalties then either.
  • Dale Sr. won 76 races. It had been 76 races since Junior won a race. It was Father's Day. He caught a caution flag on the last lap, with no gas in the tank, after breaking the rules numerous times. Fishy to me.
  • Lol @ Steffy.

you guys need to cry a little bit harder and maybe, just maybe, it will change the results.
  • Rules Gate?? LOL Thats funny. Something crazy in NASCAR every week. I guess thats why I like it so much.

Sundays race was kinda related to the Kennedy assasination except more people believe Sunday was a cover up then the second shooter in Dallas.
  • I am going out on a limb here but I would bet your question being deleted has more to do with the fact you are a TROLL and nodbody likes you than anything else.

I think you need a baby-gate maybe huh?
  • hitting the back of the pace car is not illegal as long as you dont pass it. baby jr passed it by 10 car lengths and should of been penalized, but nascars golden boy did it so its okay.BS! nascar is becoming a joke
  • Bigtime diversion...what sex scandal?
  • OK what would of happened if Jr. ran out of gas before he took the checkered flag? Give me a break, NASCAR didn't make it so he won. You would have to be a complete idiot to think that. Maybe NASCAR was letting shrub win so they could have a badboy to spice up things. So I guess Kyle isn't as good as it seems. NASCAR just let him win so they could have a story. If you think they fix one race (which is almost impossible to do), then they must have them all planned. I guess the Pettys aren't liked by the Frances or they would of thrown a win their way.
  • Will you join me today in honoring....??

    May be...

  • I salute you, Mr. Vice President. You're a good guy with good answers and opinions.
Don't forget your campaign promise to end the Rowdy/Junior feud. Hope it won't be necessary to send in any troops. lol
    Have a great day!

I'm picking Jeff Gordon to win at Infineon, and I'm going to keep picking him until he wins. I'd pick my favorite, Terry Labonte, but I'm afraid he's in subpar equipment. : ( No offense to Petty fans!
  • I would love to. VP Tom G. I get a kick out of your answers and most of your questions I find give my brain a much needed worrkout, and I appreciate that.

Thanks Tom G. Enjoy your day...cheers!

    >>Oops missed the last part! I think Tony Stewart just may get his much needed win this weekend!
  • (Takes a bow amongst all the cheering and screaming fans)Thank you all and thanks Dave for putting this up. I think Robby Gordon will win at Infineon, he's been robbed of road course wins lately.
  • Tom G is cool !! I always like reading his answers ! And I hope the #24 car breaks his losing streak and wins at Infinion !
  • yes i well join
  • WHATTTTTTTT sure
  • sorry cant
  • Sure! Lets all drink to Tom G! Love his answers! smooch! smooch! smooch!

    I'm hoping Smoke's gonna win!
  • ummmmmmmmmmmmmm ok
  • Yes I will..he is one of my contacts and his answers are always thought out and not demeaning to anyone's favorite driver or the fans so SMOOCH to Vice President Tom G. :0)

Smoke, or Jeff Gordon (but wouldn't it be nice too if Robby Gordon could win one)
  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VP TOM G!!!!!!

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tony Stewart!
  • Sure, why not. Cheers Tom G. !
Besides he's one of my contacts and I like his Q & A.

I'm gonna go with Smoke....he needs a win real soon.
    Have a great day all......peace n smiles =o~}
  • No, I voted democrat
  • Yay Tom!!!! The brainstorm behind the honorings, You're a great guy Tom, and because of you I'm a closet Elliott Sadler fan, (shhh...don't tell, I'm in the closet) Your answers and questions are great and you don't bash on drivers, those people are my favs. You deserve to be honored!!!!

    Infineon, Smoke!
  • No smooches (you lost a bet)
but I will honor him --that be ok

and I don't think Gordon can win But the 48 car can
  • VP Tom G

    Let the smooching begin!
  • Cheers for Tom G who always has great questions and insightful answers.

I could see Stewart winning this weekend. This might be the kind of track that Gordon has been waiting for as well.
  • Sure I will...Jeff Gordon will win this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • VP in da house!!!!

I REALLY want Johnson to win, but have to go with Both of the gordons!!
  • Tom G adds a lot with his wonderful answers. I've been entertained while also learning.

I really feel that Jeff Gordon will win this week.
  • Yes i will join you. Congrats Tom G great guy and cool person.
We enjoy you a whole lot! CONGRATS!!

    Winner at Infineon
I am rooting for Ron Fellows #01 Principal Financial Chevy
  • Tom G is cool. He is a true asset to this community. Tom, is straight forward, and tells it like it is, and has a good since of humor to boot. Here is to you Tom, (raises AMP in air) Congrats!

    Jeff Gordon will!
  • I got my parents to roll today

    Montoya
  • Thumbs up to Tom. Stay off JPM and I'll lay off Sadler....lol
    Kidding yah dude.

    No smooching from me.

I just know road ringers won't win. They never do so I'll stick with Stewart or Robby Gordon.
  • Definitely, Tom G is a great contributor to the NASCAR forum here. Hey, didn't he start this whole suckupathon? LOL Have a great day Tom. I'm going to go with Mark Martin at Infineon, he is a grossly underrated driver on the road courses. He will be stepping out of the 8 car for awhile after the race and I wouldn't mind seeing him win this week.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • *salutes Tom*

I hope Steffy is right, we sure need it.
  • No. But, thanks for asking.
  • congrats Tom G I think your a cool guy with alot of great answers and your always honest and you don't bash and you really know your stuff!! And I know if I've seen that you've starred a question that it's worth checking out and finding out what you had to say!! enjoy your day have a good one!!
  • WHO?????
  • Sure smooch smooch...cool guy, great answers, and I hope his fav Sadler wins a race soooooooon...I'm undecided yet, about the race this weekend, its a toss up between, J.Gordon, Juan Pablo and Carpentier... I'm going so hopefully I'll have my mind made up by then...

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • How much fuel can a car run in 3rd qualifying if the driver has already got a grid penalty?

    May be...

  • If Hamilton starts from 11th and down he can choose how much fuel he can run in the race right?
Since that's where he's going to end up in France can he qualify on near empty tanks?
  • Since they're not going to assess the penalties on Hamilton and Rosberg until AFTER qualifying....if I were those guys, given the performance of the kind of cars they have, I would run extremely heavy and go on a one stop strategy.

They'll be able to make up more positions on the track that way. Since Rosberg doesn't have a 10 place penalty like Hamilton, however, he might go about 2/3 full and go for a 2 stopper since his car isn't as fast as Hamilton, and needs to make up more ground on the grid in qualifying. Then again, Rosberg might just qualify on the sniff of an oily rag and try to start in the top 10. Any way you look at it, Hamilton's got his work cut out for him.
  • That's what I though too. penalties aren't enforced until after qualifying so it stands to reason Q3 rules apply to Lewis and Nico regardless of where they eventually do end up on the grid.
  • Rosbif is spot on, as usual.

The rules for Q3 is: Fuel may not be added to nor removed from any car eligible to take part in Q3 between the start of Q3 and the start of the race, unless any eligible car was unable to take part.’ (The unable to take part is usually an accident)

I would suggest that Hamilton starts from the rear, not bothering to qualify. He shouldnt be racing in that McLaren if he cannot gain 10 places in ten laps. And this should be the same situation if he had qualified in pole with about 5 or 6 laps worth of fuel and went for a splash and dash.
  • In my understanding, cars in Q3 are not allowed to refuel, whether they have a grid penalty or not. He'd be best off qualifying on half-tanks, probably ending up behind the two Ferraris, Kovalainen and the two BMWs and settling for starting about 16th but with a good race strategy in place. The difference to him of starting 11th or 18th isn't so great that it's worth making a mess of his race strategy over.
  • So, do you think DW's prediction of 6 wins will hold true for Jr?

    May be...

  • I have had a feeling all along that once he got his first there are going to be a bunch to follow. Like some others have said, he has been close all year and take away a few "racing deals" and bad luck he might already have 4 or 5.
  • i'm sure he'll win a couple more but i don't think it will be 6...
  • I'd say yes. (I'm not a JR fan) Remember J.J. won 6 of the last 12 last year, talk about HOT!
  • No. Jr will win 2. DW is biased.
  • no

wait sorry i just had a brain fart

he will win the rest of the races that remain
  • there is a good possibility that he can win six(counting non points races) before the season is over he has a good chance at Daytona and talledega as well as richmond
  • I think he will win between 1-8 races. That is comparable to what a bad weatherman would say when predicting snow, but anything can happen. I'm sure in 2006 people expected him to have plenty more wins that season, and I doubt in 04 (I think) people thought he would win 6.

If he gets another win in the next month or two it will clear things up some considering yesterdays win was controversial to a lot of people. However, it is hard to be that consistent and not win more races before the end of the season.
  • No!!!!!
  • I'll say 3 maybe 4
  • I think he will get 3 wins. He will make a better run at 6 next year no doubt.
  • Yes! I absolutely think so! Junior already has 3, DW never said they all had to be point races!!! only 3 to go! ..and the championship =)
  • Say Rob your right on but Remember we still got alot of good tracks for jr comin up

Daytona , Dega , Dover ! ! ! Richmond !!! Bristol Lowes ATL Texas Martinsville Mich Again so who knows he might win all of them
  • 2 more
  • good question Rob but you may be in for the hater nation to nail ya they are out in full force since Jr won aren't they great? but to answer your question I think now that Jr got the 1st win out of the way he'll get more I don't know if it'll be 6 or not I hope so but i guess we'll see and I won't quit believing that he can and will do it!! he is great and I'm sure he'll get a few more wins and maybe well I don't want to jinx it so let's leave it at that...... go Jr !!!
  • I honestly think he will make it close. He is too good too often not to win a few more before the season is over.

Oh, and the monkey is off of his back!
  • only if you count the non points races
  • I'd say 2 or 3 more, if he wins more thats great.. He might get 6 next yr..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • 16.6.08

Are you going to Innis, Texas to see the NHRA drag races in September too?

    May be...

  • No I'm in the UK. I am going to watch my first DTM race in August though. I'm looking forward to that:)
hope you have a good time
  • I will be there, I go every year in Ennis. Its a great show. Your going to absolutely love it. Make sure you have hear protection!!! Its essential. Have fun.
  • If not there, are you going to see them somewhere else? Or have you seen them already this season? It'll be my first time going. Can't wait!
  • Anyone have a good recipe for the crow & humbel pie Im eating today???

    May be...

  • You want some "whine" with that cheese?

    Go Jr.>>>>

ps: it is GordOn, not GordEn. You have been a fan for how long?
  • It won't be as bad if you wash it down with some beer. You seem to be taking it OK and it sounds like you are being a good sport about it.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Tom P: He said Yahoo's "If I Could"... not Yahoo! Answers. :)
  • Just realize he won it by saving fuel and not by outdriving the other 42 drivers all race long. That should help some. He did not have the best car, but saved fuel. Not to mention the Vickers scandal...

  • Chase it down with Amp...

    Mmmmmm...tastes like victory!
  • the phrase is do you want some cheese with that whine?
Hey you a shake with those fries? Hahahaha

As for the qestion, just remember this before you shoot off your mouth again.
  • Have it with some wine. The race is in Sonoma next week and there will be awesome wine selections.
  • I think Jr served up a lot of that pie yesterday...............18 wins in this sport is nothing to sneeze at no matter what your daddy's name is/was..............................
  • I posted some not so good things about JR last week in Yahoo's "If I Could". Jr an crew-chief Tony Jr made some guttsie calls yesterday. If that last flag didnt come out.. how far could dale made it before he ran out of gas??? Thats racing stratigy. Last yr at the pocono race Gorden an Mears did the same thing. Gorden won an Mears was like 3 or so. They called the race do to rain... Lucky basterds
  • Who else is sick of open wheel drivers in Nascar?

    May be...

  • But I like Smoke!
  • isnt tony stewart an exception to? alot of great nascar drivers came from open wheel aj foyt is another it brings more fans to the sport all though i disagree with david stremme losing his ride to dario franchiti but if its the only way they could get sponsors you gotta do what you gotta to do.
  • I'm not, but they really need to have some experience in the lower series first, like Red Bull is doing with Scott Speed.

You cant shove a race car driver from F1, IRL, or CART into a car like the COT with 42 other people and expect him to do it good right off the bat, it doesn't work that way.

Maybe Ganassi figured that out with this whole Franchitti mess.
  • The thing I hate about it is that the guys dreaming to be Nascar drivers lose their rides for a fling in the Cup Series by an Indy Car or F1 driver.
  • Yeah, I'm tired of the good drivers going from real road courses to the oval circuits. Of course Watkins Glen is always a good race, especially back when Terry Labante was driving.
  • I hope that the NASCAR owners get the clue that these guys aren't good stock car drivers right out of the box. With Montoya being an exception, how many times are we going to see an open wheel guy bring out a caution in a crucial part of a race like yesterday or wrecking themselves like Pocono? How many times did Hornish run in to Carpentier? You guys should have stayed where you were and quit polluting Cup w/ your "potential". Owners need to look through their feeder organizations. That's what they're there for, right?
  • It is not that I am sick of the open wheel drivers in Nascar, but I do not think they should not be thrown right into the Cup Series without first getting some time under the belts in the Nationwide series. Just becuase they can kick butt while driving open wheel, does not mean they are going to know what they are doing with a stock car. It amazes me that for the most part, they are being thrown right in. They should at least run a full season with the Nationwide series or lower before even making there first start at the Cup level.
  • Well, seeing as how almost every driver out there started their racing careers in go-carts, wouldn't they all have been open-wheel drivers at one point?

I'm tired of the discrimination. If someone wants to give it a try, have at it. If they aren't talented enough, they won't be around long. But everyone wrecks, even the best drivers out there.
  • I disagree. Montoya can drive with any of these guys if he was in good equipment. Hornish seems to be improving exponentially lately. He couldnt even make races 6 months ago. Franchitti is just in god awful equipment. Look at what his experienced replacements did in that car recently. Speed is doing awesome and will probably be winning races at the cup level within a few years.
  • What do you get for winning le mans?

    May be...

  • le women
  • a bucket of fish heads
  • Driver or Team?

The driver does get a big trophy (I think it's one of the biggest trophies of all sports) and Champagne, and I think the ACO give a small cash prize. Mostly he'll get a huge cash bonus from the team. The thing that really motivates them is that most will have dreamed of winning since they were children. That and they can pretty much choose what they want to do for the next 12 months.

The Constructors and teams get a similar trophy etc. What they get out of it is a huge sales bounce. There's a saying in the sport, Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday. Companies like VAG, Peugeot, Aston Martin and Porsche wouldn't still take part unless that were still true.
  • Kyle petty wins yet again can this guy lose a race ever?

    May be...

  • grats kyle
  • What are you smoking? Because I am trying to figure out if I want some.
  • What race were you watching? I was watching that #55 NAPA car dominate the race on the way to an easy victory!
  • That Mello Yello car is pretty unstopable!!
  • I don't think he has lost a race yet.
  • I think the race for first is much more entertaining
  • I believe that the last race Kyle PETTY won was in 1995 in Dover....This is what my parents always warned me about..drinking/drugs/ are not a good habit to get into.
  • Wow, he's almost as good as that Ricky Rudd guy!
  • He is pretty good, I'll give him that.
  • Dayum he must be pretty good to win a race from the announcers booth.
  • Can someone please tell me how long the NASCAR season is from start to finish?

    May be...

  • The 2008 season began with the Bud shootout on February 9th, and it ends on November 16th at Homestead.
So about 9 months. 36 points races.
  • It is 36 races plus 2 non point races the shootout at the beginning before Daytona and the all star race at Charlotte starts in February and ends in Nov at Homestead
  • NASCAR has something going on every month of the year (Cup level). In January, they spend 2 weeks testing in Daytona.
In February, they go down for Speedweeks (back to Daytona that is). They practice and run the Shoot-out on the first Saturday in February. This is a non-points event that drivers participate in only if they've won a pole the previous year (or in on a provisional). The next day (Sunday) is pole day/qualifying. They then run more practice through out the week. That Thursday they run the Duels. These are 2 qualifying heats that set the field for the 500. Then, more practice. On Sunday (the 2nd Sunday in February), they run the 500. February is typically rounded out with the California race.
March brings Las Vegas, Atlanta, Bristol and an off week. This year Martinsville was raced in March, but this is not the norm (it fell on the 31st).
April usually brings Martinsville, Texas, Pheonix, and Talladega.
May is Richmond, Darlington, the All-Star Race (non-points) and the Coke 600 at Lowes.
June brings Dover, Pocono, Michigan, Infineon and New Hampshire.
July brings the Firecracker/Pepsi/Coke 400 (the Daytona 4th of July race- it has had multiple names), Chicagoland and the Brickyard. Plus an off-weekend.
August is full of Pocono, Watkins Glen, Michigan, and Bristol.
September has California, Richmond, Dover, Kansas and New Hampshire.
October has Talladega, Lowe's, Martinsville, and Atlanta.
November ends the regular season with Texas, Pheonix and Homestead. Homestead always falls on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
December hosts the banquets. The Cup banquet is held on the 1st Friday of December.

So, to answer your question, the NASCAR season is year long :)
The point paying race season is 36 races in length, going from the 2nd Sunday in February until the 3rd Sunday in November. Plus, add the 2 extra events (one before the season begins!) and testing and you get a full year worth of NASCAR!!!!!

  • How about that my boy dale jr won , this isnt a joke he won i know he had to save fuel but hey a wins a win he flat out earned it what do yall think

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=rwKkrfyPhj8
  • Glad he finally got one, would have rather seen Matt Kenseth win but hey, can't have everything. Congrats to JR
  • he did win WOOHOO! junior made it... broke that 76 losing streak... and people are crying about the caution and that is the only reason why he won.... whatever he won WOOOOHOOOO!
  • Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Dale!
  • I know, I know, I saw it, it was fabulous, but did you see him during the cautions, he kept turning off his engine to save on gas, I was holding my breath, yea, his streak is broken and now we are gonna see it all the time......

GO MY MAN #88 JR ALL THE WAY, YEA, HE DID IT, IT WAS HIS TIME, YEA, WE ARE ON THE ROAD TO WIN NOW....YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA

SORRY, AT LAST, VICTORY LANE, BUT DID YOU SEE HIM, HE WAS WORN OUT AND DID NOT TALK MUCH AFTER THE RACE.....THAT'S OKAY, WE WON, WE WON, WE WON, WE WON, WE WON/

I WILL SEND YOU A BEER RIGHT OVER, HOLD ON HERE IS COMES.......ENJOY
  • He ran out of gas as soon as the caution came out
    whew
    close one
    GO JR
  • He saved fuel. Another crappy fuel mileage race and bogus caution. If any other driver was up front on the last lap they would have made them race to the line, because the 10 and 55 cars had cleared off the track.
  • It was well overdue but way to go. He will end up the cups leader because rowdy is going down..
  • congrats dale!!! i was rooting for ya!!!!
  • It was awesome that he won!
  • YAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so freakin happy, this is going to be an awesome summer. Jr wins today and im going to six flags tomorrow, it cant get any better.
  • I am so happy!!!! Finally a win! There will be a lot more wins to come! Take that all you Jr haters!!

Add: to the person who said they would make them race to the line. NASCAR no longer allows this, as soon as caution is out field is frozen!!! So know what you are talking about before you open your mouth. This is still a fairly new rule only from a few years ago. It's to make sure the cars finish safely.
  • A win is a win is a win.
  • I think it kind of sucked. BOO!!!!!!!!!
  • You must've taken my advice and thought happy thoughts when running the Amp car! ;) Congrats to Jr. and his fans.
  • Is Joey Logano the next Michael Schumacher???

    May be...

  • There is one problem. Logano forgot to win his first two.

I don't think he will win "every race" but he will be consistent. Up until he gets a really bad handling car. The kid is good, but I am still undecided if i want to "be a fan". He races clean, + in my book, but seems a little too cocky. But that is what makes our sport. I like the kid, but I don't know if I am fan material.
  • NO he is Joey LOGANO
  • dude if ur gonna compare joey say a good driver not Michael Schumacher come on i mean ill garentee you not many people no him
  • Don't insult F1 fans and one of the best race car drivers ever. Please.
  • Uh huh. Let's see after he's won a NASCAR championship and driven for ten years. So far he hasn't had to drive an ill handling car.
  • it's pretty impressive that in only his third race, he already has 2 poles and a win. the kid's been in only three races, how can you compare him to anyone yet? i do see him have the potential of being a petty, earnhardt sr., or a gordon. he will be fun to watch.
  • Because he wins every race???
  • I don't know anything about Schumacher, but if it involves winning every race, then no, he is not the next.
  • Yes he is and hes only 14
  • How Many laps will Jr complete before getting spin out?

    May be...

  • lol @ the doughnuts, you walked right into that one!

    *Go Rowdy*
  • He will spin out after the race doing donuts JUST LIKE HE HAS THE LAST 76 RACES!! Yeah right!
  • All of em...He'll spin when he's smoking the tires after the checkers...thanks for the 2 points!
  • He will only spin doing a burnout when he crosses the checkard in 1st.
  • i agree with Godsmack
  • Not many
  • The only spinning out Jr will be doing will be through the infield after taking the checkers....so I say 200 laps completed.
  • 18
  • more than you.
  • All of them. The only time he will spin out is after the race doing all the doughnuts!!!
  • All 200 Laps & a Doughnut on 201
  • I am hoping that he spins out on the first lap. Considering how terrible of a driver that he is I think that is a great possibility.
  • Depends on where the #18 car is.... LOL just kidding folks. Hopefully he will finish all 400 laps, the last on in first, but another top 5 will do too....
  • Unless someone spins him out, no lap. He likes and knows how to drive at MIS.
  • he will finish the race and win then do donuts when it's over!!
    Go Jr!!!!!
  • depnds on how close he is to kyle busch when the scruck takes out half the field. if he can avoid getting involved is busch's wreck, he should be able to make it the entire 200 laps.

what was the question again? i was distracted by juniors victory lane celabration
  • Best Jr in NASCAR?

    May be...

  • JoMomma Jr.
  • like all NASCAR caftsman truck, Formula 1, Nationwide, and Sprint
  • Sam Hornish Jr
  • dale jr
  • Nelson Piquet Jr
  • Best of all time, Junior Johnson without a doubt!
  • MArtin Truex Jr.
  • all time: Junior Johnson
    current drivers :
    trucks: Ron Hornaday Jr
    f1: not nascar
    nationwide: Bobby Hamilton Jr
    sprint: Dale Earnhardt Jr
  • dale jr
  • Who else agrees with me the Cup drivers should stop racing in the Nationwide Series?

    May be...

  • Someone asks this after almost every Nationwide race...however I think the ratings would go down if the Cup guys weren't allowed to race in the Nationwide series, and it may be hard for them to pull a full field of 43 drivers for some of the races.

For example, how many people watch ARCA races compared to Nationwide races? Not a lot, but I bet if you threw in Kyle Busch, Dale Jr., Jeff Gordon, into the ARCA series, the ratings would skyrocket, so I'm sure part of it is about entertainment value as well.

You are right about Biffle and some others. I think sometimes they go out and do crazy things because they care if they mess up the car or anything...but they probably should not drive so impatiently against the guys running for points. But a true racer has trouble knowing when not to go for broke.
  • Sorry, I can't agree with you. I like the fact that the Nationwide regulars and these young, new drivers have a chance to beat the Cup drivers. It gives them a greater sense of accomplishment and boosts their confidence when they do win. It also brings fans, sponsors and TV exposure to the series that would be struggling even worse than it is now without the Cup regulars.
  • yha i think drivers like cale gale, landon cassil and brad kesselowski can win but i like reutimann and ragan in nationwide
  • When we had guys like Martin and Jeff Burton running in Busch there was no problem. The cup drivers running now seem to think Nationwide is their playground where they are entitled to win and if not crash them and trash them. The young Nationwide kids are very good and that adds to the frustration I think.

I would love to see a Nationwide regular take the title this year.

I think the cup drivers should be allowed but limited to 20 races or less so the kids can lead the points and enjoy a championship.
  • I used to be a hugh fan of the Cup drivers going into the Nationwide races and seeing how the rookies compared to the veterans, but lately my view has changed. For one, the Nationwides series has started to get more and more rookies, which spots keep getting taken up by Cup drivers. And two, the Cup drivers are really impatient and in just the past two weeks I have seen Biffle wreck, Landon Cassill and Joey Logano.
  • No, they should, will give the minors some experience and good for the ratings of the race.

let them run, it will be fun to watch
  • cup drivers put butts in seats - both at the track and in front of the tv - that's reality. without them, fewer people watch, period. and when fewer people watch, sponsor dollars dwindle. i also think it's a good idea to have the cup drivers in with the nationwide drivers to give them experience racing against what they'll see if they make it to cup - these guys can learn a lot from the cup regulars who come and race.

yeah, there will always be problems but the good it brings, at least at the moment, outweighs the problems. and with the talent coming up in nationwide now, i wouldn't be surprised to see more and more nationwide regulars entering the top ten, and sooner than you think.
  • They should limit the races they are in. I love to see a Nationwide racer win. I remember someone...maybe a few years back, a Nationwide (then Busch) driver say that with the Cup drivers in the race they (Nationwide drivers) learn from them. Which makes sense. Still I think they should be there to race and teach maybe, but not full season so that an actual Nationwide driver can have a shot at winning the championship.
  • i agree that nasca drivers should race but not get points now this sounds retarded but it wont give the nationwide drivers much but u cant argue with nascar
  • Yes, and the Truck series.

I don't see NFL players playing in Collage football. Whats the difference?

You are a pro, stick with the pros!!!
  • NASCAR would lose money if they did this.

However it would be better for the series in every other way. Nationwide and truck series are supposed to be for young guys to get experience so they can move up to Cup when they are ready. A lot of these guys never get a fair shot at getting better because the Cup teams who come down have better equipment, better drivers, and better crews. They domintate the series and take all the prize money and points. You dont see A-Rod playing AAA baseball on off days. This is the same thing.

I think that they could still find 43 cars to run every race if they got the costs back under control. Huge Cup teams have driven up the costs so much that the Nationwide teams simply cant afford to compete at the same level. It costs as much to run a Nationwide team now as a Cup team but the prize money is only a fraction as much.
  • I think that the Cup drivers should not race in the Nationwide series however if there was no cup drivers would anyone really would be watching the nationwide series..... Not really so that why the cup drivers are racing for the nationwide series. Now... I think they should not race for points because I think that there will be better competition the Nationwide Guys to win a championship fair and square without a cup driver taking their shot away.......
  •
