This is a tough question because Jr. is much more liked according to fans. I think they are both very good. Yeah Matt has a championship. He was with the right team at the right time. If Dale Jr. had those teams instead of Matt Kenseth the roles would have been reversed. I've seen Dale dominate a race and get knocked out because of someone else or engine failure. This is a very good question...Thanks Matt Kenseth, hands down. Matt Kenseth's championship edges him ahead but stats don't lie. JuneBug is better than The Brat this year. Matt Kenseth !!! Just by numbers alone both are pretty close to each other, Jr has more wins (18-16) and the top-5 and top-10 numbers are pretty close too each other

Wow, bigmac, even when actual facts are presented that shows the drivers in question are about equal you still continue to bash. I would say they are about even. They have similar stats other than Kenseth winning a championship and Jr finishing 3rd (I think). Jr beat Kenseth 2 times in Busch.

Matt Kenseth is known as Mr. Consistency, he won the last Winston Cup in 03 with only one win, and beat Junior for the Rookie of Year honors. No offense to Junior though. Matt Kenseth
Like everyone else said, he is much more consistent and has had more success then Jr. has in his career so far. Jr no way around it. Statistically they are close enough for me to throw up both hands and flip a coin, but maybe Kenseth by a gnat's whisker, although tomorrow could change that for this year. However, I can hardly ignore that Kenseth does have a championship to his credit on the overall scorecard, but Junior is still in the race. Kenseth. He has had a much more consistent career and a championship to boot. Matt Kenseth, of course! Not that Dale Jr. is bad... but Matt is way better :) around a tie me they both suck I would say Matt Kenseth is a better stock car driver and plus he has made all chases! Matt Kenseth has only had one championship. He was consistent that year only. After that he has really not been doing much. I say Dale Jr. is better. are you kidding? jr. of course!!!! Matt Kenseth is [no doubt] Matt Kenseth Kenesth hands down..even though i am a Jr fan am also fan of Kenseth, so best of both Kenseth... i'm a Dale Jr fan as you all know but Matt is a real good driver so i would have to say Matt! i'm sorry Jr i still love you! Depends which track....over the course of their careers...I say it's been pretty even except for #17 winning the championship in 2003. They're both great drivers in my book. If you're asking for my opinion...I would say Kenseth...just because of his consistency over the years. Big Jr. Fan, but I think Kenseth may be a better driver, knows more about the cars and has a championship Junior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! definitely Kenseth Matt Kenseth hands down.

I hope they sponsor him. I believe he would be a good addition for UPS. He still kind of up & coming & he doing great. I believe it's only a matter of luck & time before he wins his first of many races.

i think it would be smart for both parties. ragan is starting to get better and ups need a chance to run up from and mwr is just not gettingit done. David is doing so well and I think only hints at what is to come with this guy.
Kudos to UPS for jumping at the chance to sponsor him. It's a great financial move for sure. NASCAR Scene magazine is saying that David is the front runner to be the new face of UPS, AAA has opted to leave David and Roush-Fenway at the end of the season.
I'm a big David Ragan fan, so I'm hoping he gets it.

I think it would be a great fit. David is up and coming star in Nascar and would do UPS justice. Its going to be hard to be better than Dale Jarrett in the commercials though. I hope it happens! I wouldn't say bad car... more of a struggling car. He struggled throughout the first practice. I think him and Tony Jr have something for tomorrow night. You know how Jr races here don't let that Qualifying effort take you down. My Man Menard qualified there a bunch of times and wounded up finishing in the top 25. Trust me Dale Jr will be up there by the end. Good Luck to all of Jr Nation, Rowdy Nation, Kurt Busch Nation, Elliott Sadler Nation, Kenny Schrader Nation, and My 2 Nations Truex Jr Nation and Sideburns Nation!! He is running out of talent. Best car, not the best driver. Season going downhill fast. Driver and car showed up, crew chief didn't He got loose out of turn 4, and he wasn't the only one. Every Rousch car did too, with Carl Edwards smacking the wall (even though he starts 1st), and David Ragan crumpling his car. Jimmie Johnson was horrid loose but saved it. Tony Stewart wiggled a bit out of 3 and into 4 as well.
Qualifying times were so tight, there was just no room for error. They were having set up problems and so were a lot of the teams. From the looks of things in final practice they have something figured out. Junior always does good at Bristol and has come from the back before. Don't count him out just yet. Keslowski started thirty something and is in 3rd place right now. =o`) Ya what the hell happened i was out and missed it. what did happen i missed it to Wicked Loose, almost everyone was having problems today..even Jimmie Johnson and Smoke..was surprised also that Carl smacked the wall but ended up on pole, WTG i say to all of them, that's Bristol for sure and we'll be stomping with them to see who came overcome and end up in the front! At bristol, the pole winner to about 30th was separated by less than a half second i believe. All it takes is one slip and you are 30th. I wouldn't worry too much about it. A lot of the cars at bristol are better than they qualified.

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here much but I hope you'll give me a big southern welcome! Thanks a bunch VP and to everyone that has answered. It really means a bunch to me that you guys think of me that way. I am very humbled. I wish for the sake of this forum that we as Nascar fans will come together and quit the bashing, hating and down right ugliness that has showed its ugly head alot in here lately. Nascar is a great sport to be a part of, not everyone is going to like the same drivers and a little competitive sparring is good for the sport as well for us fans as long as it doesn't get personal and just plain ugly. I'm sorry for carryng on here but I had to say my 2 cents worth on all this stuff that's happening lately. Thanks again guys yall mean the world to me!

My favorite track is Gateway. Although it's not in the Cup series, it is my local NASCAR track, and it always seems to hold some great races. Its winners seem to progress nicely in Cup, and who can hate a track that's so close to the hometowns of Kenny Schrader, the Wallace Brothers, and Carl Edwards? Favorite track... Darlington !

My favorite tracks are my "home" tracks...the ones I go to every year..>Watkins Glen, Pocono, Loudon, Dover, and the farthest south I have been is Martinsville and that was so much fun for a small track!!!

I hate to say it, but I think Jeff Gordon is hot now-a-days... he dresses nice, but casual... and is lookin good to me. But Dale Jr. is still sexier. IMO Jimmie Johnson wins the best dressed award when they aren't at the track. junior and kasey kahne are both fairly well-known for the jeans and t-shirt casual style. gordon and johnson are better known for being more stylish in a more metropolitan setting. jeff in particular always looks stylin' every time he and ingrid "appear" on TMZ.
but from pictures and videos i've seen, i'd have to go with the "rowdy" style - the extreme sports/surf-and-skate wear casual style, and i lean toward that. although i personally can't pull it off at my age, i like that look in general when worn well. I'm with daleje4ever on this one Jr's got my vote! I'm not a dress up person so I say Dale Jr, nothing like Wranglers and a good T-shirt.
Go Dale Jr & Hms Scott Speed Dale Jr. - I like the casual appearance. I dress up for church only. Matt Kenseth To me it would be someone like Elliott Sadler or Dale Jr with just Tshirts & jeans. But im not even close to being Tommy Hilfiger or anything. when they aren't wearing their race uniforms of course Jr. does, cause you know he wears casual stuff, a shirt and jeans. He does look good in those Wrangler jeans! :)

2. They had the Chevy switching to Toyota bullcrap!!! Ganassi Hendricks 1st is DEI, terresa is destroying SRs company, next would be gibbs for dropping chevy and going to toyota Joe Gibbs Racing.
Here's why -
- I hate Kyle Busch
- I dislike Denny Hamlin
- Stewart is leaving soon
- Logano hasn't been the most decent guy in the Nationwide Series
- Joe Gibbs switched from Chevy to Toyota. HMS (like any1 else said its not the drivers but rick) Any that Stinky, tina, bunnie and mandy, Mongo luvs rainbow, #14chevrolet, Sheldon A, slash, and her many other accounts like are my least favorite.
Gloria will come back and tell you all the truth about Stinky. I don't pick favorites
They're all just "the competition" DEI, because Teresa has destroyed what once was a great racing team. I have been a non-supporter of Hendricks since I was 8 years old, I am 24 now. Only two drivers have raced for Hendricks that I liked, those being Terry Labonte and Jerry Nadeau. I dislike Kyle Busch, and don't really care for Denny Hamlin. I guess it would be Joe Gibb's, though I don't mind Stewart, and it's too soon to make up my mind about Logano. Roush/Fenway because all Jack Roush does is complain, and cry It's just my opinion but DEI is least favorite not because Jr left, i do like Truex Jr, but DEI forcing him to sign another year(they had option to let him go but did not knowing he wanted OUT)..
That is my reason..
I will not bash teams or owners or drivers...just say, if your hand is in cookie jar and chocolate on your face..then you're TOAST! and you all know who i am talking about.. I am gonna have to go with Winter Glory on that one.....HMS(nothing to do with the drivers......All Rick Hendrick) 15-Menard. I mean, why is he even in NASCAR except for his daddy. Yes, you could call it jealousy on my part. Every team but roush and yates are my least favorite. And by the way they used to have Casey Mears and Jamie Mccmurray 2 subpar drivers and now they have Juan Taco and Reed 40thSon My least favorite team has to be any and all teams that finish ahead of my beloved #43. I wish Kleenex would sponsor them next year...it might make the crying a little easier.....LOL. i would have to go with joe gibbs, im a person who likes older things, older cars and music as well as veteran nascar drivers. next year gibbs will have kyle busch, denny hamlin, and joey lagano. all either new or relatively new, which practically makes them one big team of newbies. tony stuart was my favorite driver at gibbs. im not saying the team is no good but they have to race for a couple years before i have total respect for them. im starting to respect denny more but not kyle and definently not lagano. (im not fond of lagano, i dont quite know why) There are one or two drivers from each team that I don't care for. I wouldn't say I don't like them, but whatever. I wouldn't say any team has the edge over any other right now as to who is my least favorite.

My family is going down to bristol for the race this weekend. My uncle has a municipal issued handicap sticker valid in NJ. We are trying to get a spot in the handicap area because it hurts for him to walk. Bristol motor speedways website says that it has to be state valid. is that the same thing as municipal valid? I don't understand what you are asking.
Handicapped ID's for parking must meet the Federal Guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
I would call Bristol guest information at 423-989-6942 and ask them specifically what they mean.
A handicapped parking id given out by NJDMV should be valid in any State. I know they are valid on Federal Government sites. (My late mother was handicapped) I agree with Tom P .....I WOULD CALL FIRST. But it should be valid. Tenn and NJ different states...different laws....better be safe than sorry.

I don't think he is horrible, but I agree he will never be as good as Jimmie, Jeff, or Jr. I met him a couple of times. He is a really nice guy! He is a good driver. He knows how to race. I take the same crap from people about Paul Menard. They are all great drivers. hes an average driver and how do people get top contributer badges and not know a thing about nascar? that #5 car they "never put much in to" has won a championship. I've always like Casey. He has a lot of potential. Unfortunately he gets caught up in some wrecks. I wanted him to make the chase but doesn't really look good as of now. There is always a next year but will continute to root for him! I like the dude, but for whatever reason he can't keep his butt in a ride. Moving around between cars @ CGR and then swapping teams to Hendrick only to have the same crap happen...
Hopefully if the rumors are true, he will end up in that #07 @ RCR and if he can stay there for atleast 3 seasons he may do something finally. I'll tell yah. He stinks. he cant drive. some people dont know that he signed with rcr already their trying to keep it on the low he is getting in the 07 jack daniels and clint is getting in the 33 general mills You never heard me say he was crap. And I have said since day 1...that when finally leaves Hendrick Motorsports and gets into a decent car he will take right off. Maybe not quite as good as Kyle...but who is??? lol But he will do so much better than the beer coozie salesman thats for sure.
Hendrick was never ever known for putting much into the #5 car. Wait'll next year. He might be a great guy and all, everyone improves through time and experience and practice makes perfect but sometimes the teams aren't willing to wait that long for people. Hope he does better whatever team he goes to though.
Look what happened with Kyle! Great guy and a lot of talent! I like him... he's kind of a fox. I'm really not sure what to think of him. He's most likely going to be my favorite drivers new teammate next year. I like the fact that he seems to get along well with his teammate and is a clean driver but performance wise I'm not sure. He has had a had a hard time at Hendrick the past few seasons and with all the CC and team swaps I don't think he has had a chance to really settle down and show his full potential. Still, if (when) he does go to RCR I expect it to work out. Richard isn't an idiot and I don't think he would put Mears in his car if he didn't have some faith in him. I don't think Casey will go out and set the world on fire like Kyle has (although wouldn't that be hilarious!) but he is consistent and won't tear up equipment. Which is exactly what a new team needs. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy and all, but seriously, he's mediocre at best.
Im tired of people calling casey mears crap, in 2003 he finished 35th in points, then in 2004 he made an improvement and finished 22nd. 2005 he finished 22nd again, then in 2006 he made his way to 14th in the points and in 2007 he got to 15th yet people say hes no good. just because he cant keep up with jimmie and jeff and jr, doesnt mean he is no good. I think they will be great next year. I am excited about Martin's move, but he'll only be there for the year. He is really trying to win a championship and I hope he does. He's great and deserves it. Mark Martin is a great guy and an average driver. Not sure how he will do this year but i would have liked Casey Mears to stay regardless of his record. I think he has potential. About the question, i LOVE Hendrick Motorsports. GO 48!!! Rick isn't a fraud.
But they're doing pretty good this year.
3/4 of them are in the chase, Mears needs to pack it in. He's been crap on the team... Rick should have kept Kyle.
In a way, I think Dale Jr. is a bit of a let down. He IS doing better then last year, but not the best. He's only won one race due to rain. If he's going to win, he needs more.
But Rick has a great team... look at the back-to-back championships from Jimmie, and I THINK Jeff has had 5 or 6 now.
Other then Dale Jr. and Mears, the team is amazing... too bad this year Jimmie is the only one who has a chance winning considering Gordon hasn't even one once yet this year. I think they will do well next year. Jeff Gordon is a veteran. He has not done that well this season and I do not fault it at all to his driving. In addition, Jimmie Johnson is an awsome driver too. Dale Earnhart, Jr.; look how well he has done this year! Mark Martin has been driving such a long time, he will be a good back bone, I think, to Hendrick. Furthermore, I feel that Hendrick will definatly get thier stuff down with the quirks of the COT when they come back in Nascar season 2009.
Next year hendrick motorsports will have 4 class A drivers. how do you think they will fair next year. And what do you think about mark martins move to hendrick. I think that hendrick motorsports rules and next year they will be even better with that Mears guy out of the way. I think Mark Martin is a very smart man to make this move. I think Jeff Gordon needs a new crew chief. I think Hendrick is the best team out there. Mark Martin is a great teamate. But I think what has been slowing them down this year is they focused so much on the car of last year that they're still trying to work out the kinks of this one I think they will dominate next year. Everyone said they'd have 3 Class A drivers this year, but that's not turning out so good, at least not this deep into the season. In the preseason we heard how it would be the most dominate team easily this year, when actually they let the driver go that's dominating with 3x as many wins as Hendrick combined.
Next year we'll see, but I think there will be a lot of conflict...Rick won't know who to satisfy.
Hendrick was always my favorite team but not anymore. Rick is a fraud. They'll be okay and so will everyone else. When NASCAR takes a few more tests and impounds Toyota's cars and busts them down to size and lets Toyota know they can't cheat then everything will work out. I love Hendricks! I think they will do much better next year! Can't keep that team down for long! Mark Martin will be good for them! Now all 4 cars can finish in the top 5! dont know....no one can contain that much talent...too much of one thing is a bad thing.....thats like having 5 Kobe Bryants on the same floor...SURE they're really talented, but TEAMWORK???

I do agree that Kyle Busch is more driven to prove himself this year because of HMS kicking him to the curb, but I don't think Junior had anything to do with Kyle's success. Yes It didn't make him a better driver, it just got him out of that piece of crap 5 car into something he could actually win races with No. Just think about it, if this move never happened then who knows how Kyle would have been doing this year. I think the #18 fans should be embracing the #88 instead of bashing him. Like everyone has said, this move has been beneficial for BOTH drivers. I think this has made Kyle more driven to prove what a great driver he is. I would give more of the credit to Rick Hendrick. I think more than anything Kyle wants to prove to him that he might have made a mistake. In the end I think the move worked out in everybody's best interest.

1) I think him driving in the Truck series helps. Those truck are real loose. If a driver can get the feel for a loose car then the old saying is "loose is fast" will apply. That's one advantage.
2) Toyota has also had an edge with Toyota's horsepower.
Gibb's has always done a good job with setting up cars. Tony Stewart's championships in Chevy and Pontiac just goes to show that. Given Toyota's extra horsepower, and Gibbs previous success along with Kyle's experience in different series has been the right mix. I said at the beginning of the season that someone who can drive the car sideways will have the best chance for being successful. The COT will not turn and making it loose is how to get it to turn. That has benefited Kyle. Some of the veteran drivers that have been around for a while that has hit the wall hard a few times are scared to get the car sideways.
In the same Hendrick cars though Kyle wasn't as successful as his teammates but he was still a good driver. I never thought about it that way, but yeah. You're right. Mr. 18 wanted to show HMS what they let go in the beginning of the year, and he's transferred that into a Championship Run. I don't think he'd have as much determination if he had never been kicked out. Usually in sports, people are fans of winners. NASCAR is the exception. The number of people who actually support him is puzzling to me. Kyle and drivers like Carl Edwards have fewer fans but do their talking on the track. Kyle Busch is not my favorite driver either but he is a winner and he deserves the credit. The trolls are gonna eat me alive for this one. Dale Jr. After my man Sr. died Happy Harvick was my fave as he drove Sr's cars. Jr. had to earn my respect. It doesn't hurt that I drink Bud and red is my favorite color either. I was nearly suicidal when he changed sponsors. I come from a long line of middle class working folk and Jr. is the epitomy of the working class attitude. He works hard, doesn't whine, doesn't talk smack, admits when he screws up(even takes the blame for things that aren't his fault), and defends his team at all costs. He is one classy redneck! One that doesn't drive because its a waste of gas. NOT a sport!!!! Kenseth he is honest clean driver mostly consistent and in my opinion simply the best Bill Elliott because he worked hard to get into the sport and he was rewarded with a Cup championship, two Daytona 500 wins, a win at the Brickyard, a spot in the 50 greatest NASCAR drivers list, and 16 Most Popular Driver Awards. Stewart.

I hope they will stick with the Sprint Cup this time. I still have trouble not calling it the Winston Cup. I guess I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. So many things in NASCAR have changed since I started watching. I liked it better when smokes and beer were sponsoring everything. Free Winstons and Busch can't be beat. Well unless the rumors of T-Mobile buying Sprint NEXTEL come true it shall be known as the Sprint Cup Series until 2014 (or beyond should they renew their sponsorship contract).
Winston dropped out due to US Tobacco advertising laws. NEXTEL stepped up but was bought out from Sprint, which then began to phase out the NEXTEL name, much like AT&T to Cingular & Verizon will be to alltel. Hence the change to what we now know as the Sprint Cup Series. just call it cup thats the easist way It all has to do with money,, if the sponsor changes then the name will change again. My sentiments exactly I wish it would return to the Winston Cup. It was called that when I started watching.

I wasn't a fan when it was called Winston Cup so that sounds pretty weird to me. I like Nextel Cup, but now I'm used to Sprint Cup. Nascar will change it as many times as a corporate sponsor wants as long as they're willing to shell out huge $$$$ amounts their way. Wouldn't surpise if it's changed at least 2 more times in next 5 years with all the communication buyouts that's been going on recently. What if Sprint leaves? Will they be racing for the CUP OF COCA-COLA; THE CUP OF CAMPBELL'S SOUP; The Ollie's Outlet Barn of Cheap Imported Stuff Slighty used CUP; the list could go on and on. My point is, to me, is doesn't matter what's it's called as long as it's stock car racing with the 43 best drivers....that's all that matters. Just an opinion of course.

;-) Yeah! My favorite race of the year behind the fall Talladega race and the 500. Counting the hours/minutes! Bristol at night is like nothing else on the planet! My wife and I and two friends are driving down Saturday morning for the Sharpie 500...it's the first time we are actually going together with other people. So I am looking forward to getting to the TN mountains and having a WV redneck good time!!! my boys will be, you bet your sweet bippy. i haven't said that since "laugh-in" was on. I love Bristol so I'm definitely ready! Yes !!!!!!! I can't wait to see the trucks race in Thunder Valley and see how Jimmie Johnson is going to do. But I think Johnny Benson will take the win . I haven't seen you do anything to make anyone mad. Bestanswer has it right, If you are talking about getting thumbs down I wouldn't pay much attention to that as the trolls have been out in full force this past month. You can have a good, informational, and well thought out answer sometimes and you will still get thumbs down. It's pathetic but a lot of times people will just judge you by your favorite driver. I wouldn't pay any attention to it. Sometimes I tend to get the feeling that people just think of me around here as that annoying Harvick fan but somehow I keep coming back. I feel as long as you aren't bashing or being rude then you are entitled to your opinion just as much as anyone else and are more then welcome around here :) sometimes people give thumbs-down to others around here for pretty good reasons, maybe because they are acting like complete jackasses. i get a lot of those. i was just wondering?if i did something to make you all mad i'm deeply

personally, i wear thumbs-up and thumbs-down as badges of honor - at least i (usually) got someone's attention. i wish that was always true, as i know i've received thumbs-down that i'm sure were from people who were just running through all the responses giving everyone thumbs-down. other times, i'm sure i've received them because of my avatar, my screen name, and/or my favorite driver.
many times i'm sure i've received them because someone actually didn't like me or my answers. but i don't let those get to me because as someone wise once told me:
"you don't like everyone do you, why should you expect everyone to like you?"
the ones that i like the most though are those i have received many times for simply stating facts answering questions like "what time is the race on" or "who finished first in the race." i'm sure that i could simply report the time and temperature if asked and someone would come along and give me a thumbs-down, and sometimes only me.
comes with the territory i suppose... Well you're a Junior fan and they seem to get thumbs down a lot. Don't worry about what others think and keep rooting for your favorite driver. If you are a Jr fan you can expect many thumbs down from the Kyle Busch fans. No matter the subject or the quality of your answers you get the thumbs down.
They will say awful things also. Many of the Jr fans have left because of this kind of treatment. Six months ago a question about Jr would get about 10 positive to 2 negative responses. Now it's 1 positive to 10 negative. Jr's fan base hasn't changed they have just left this festering pool of negativity. Bad ratings? What do you mean? If you mean thumbs down there's probably a lot of reasons. Could just be because you're a Dale Jr. fan, no matter how good your answer is. Like some people do when they find out who I'm a fan of and that goes for everyone else here, too. Sometimes no matter how good the answer is people don't even read it they just see who you're a fan of and give a thumbs down. That's one thing I don't really like about the thumbs down thing in the NASCAR section. You could give the most perfect answer in the world but if you like a certain driver you'll still get a thumbs down on it. Don't worry about it...if they can't stand someone else's opinion just ignore it and keep posting, there's always somebody who will agree or disagree with you on here and everywhere else. Just keep doing what your doing, and realize that not everyone will agree.

I would love to see all the races run under the lights. Cooler for the fans, drivers and cars. It would also make for better racing because the cars would get better grip. absolutely Definite.....to all......night racing is awesome!!!!! I would love for all tracks to have lights for night racing. Except for maybe the road courses that may be a little tricky. I love to watch night racing but they should have them for other reasons as well such as rain so even with a rain delay they can still get the race in. That is the most frustrating thing to me after waiting all day for the race then to have them call it because of rain....uggh! Lights would eliminate this problem. Definitely ,Night Racing Rules ! nobody should have night races... too dangerous..... I think every race should have 1 day race and 1 night race. The only problem is, NASCAR is so tight on money. They couldn't afford all those lights. But yes, a Dover night race would be awesome I wish they wouldn't. I realize I'm in the minority, but I don't like the night races. I have a 2 year old and am just too wiped out to stay up late. I TiVo it, but it isn't the same watching it the next day. If they would start the races at 5 PM instead of 7 or 8, I'd be all for them. I think all races should have the day to night race. Seems that Jimmie is better at those races. I think so, but then again I love night races and would like to see them have more. I can't wait to watch them under the lights at Atlanta. My dream is they instill Lights at Talladega and have the fall race at night. Now that would be awesome. I think that Fontana should have a night race because they have lights. But Dover, Texas, Atlanta, New Hampshire and Michigan should not have a night race because they do not have lights to do a night race. I think every single track should have lights. Mainly due to weather issues, so that if Sunday afternoon gets rained out, they can race at night. Nobody likes to see a race on a Monday. But then again, at a road course like Infineon, that wouldn't work. And so races like Talladega won't be called due to darkness, as in the case of the ARCA race.
I also think Martinsville should get lights as well.
But in terms of those tracks you listed, I definitely think Dover needs the lights more than any of them. Texas already has a race which ends at night, the Dickies 500, Atlanta has a night ending race during the fall (wait, wasn't that for a rain delay?) Dover

Edit: Technically, in the seventies not all the cars were running the plate. Nascar was phasing out the 427 and going to the 358 c.i. engine. So some of the cars may not have had plates. I think only the guys still running the 427 were required to wear them. That would make Jeff's answer the correct one since the Winston 500 runs before the Diehard 500. I know that it was first used in 1971 to reduce the ci.of a 427 to 358 ci.How about the king 43? I was there yesterday and was just downright impressed with how both Kyle and Carl blew the field away. All I could say was wow everytime they came around and you saw the 3rd and 4th cars further and further behind. Simply put I think we got a good look at what the chase is gonna be like. Me!
No offense to Kyle, but I get bored when the same guy wins over and over. Unless, of course, he's MY driver ;). I think everyone feels that way when it is not their fave winning. Last season all we heard was Jimmie and Jeff, so this time it's Kyle and good on him, he is showing that he is a great driver. It may have been to you, but what was refreshing to me was seeing Dale Jr "lose control" of his car and hit the wall. Entirely his fault too. Congrats to Carl for the win, and to the Fords for a great finish all around...Rousch, that is.

It will probably come down to Edwards or Kyle for the championship. i'm not happy, but i do like two things about it: 1) kyle and his team showed that they have improved big time on the intermediate tracks, and 2) that we can look forward to some great racing over the next 13 weeks. i love to see kyle win as much as the next guy, but i'd rather see him do it in a battle to the end, and that includes for the championship. i think the battle between kyle and carl (and i think jimmie will be there as well) for the championship could turn out to be epic... Yea, I enjoyed seeing someone other than that little @#%&$ win...
but on the other hand, I'm glad that little @#%&$ has brought something back to NASCAR that they have lacked... SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT! It's definitely GOOD FOR THE SPORT when there are more drivers than just 1 winning every week. I'd like to see 15 or 20 different winners throughout the season.

He drove down and threw it out of the grove. Drivers throw bottles out of the car all the time, usually onto the grass coming off pit road but sometimes on the track. That confused me too. I guess Edwards didn't get fined since he threw it where it would land on the apron. Still has me confused though. I asked this yesterday and got a limited response; maybe because it was Sunday. It looked like ice and water and maybe an empty bottle but I was always under the impression that NOTHING could be thrown out of the car on to the track................Whats up?? I said the exact same thing!!!! I mean, a couple of years ago Robby Gordon upchucks a piece of the car's interior out onto the track and he gets penalized!!! But I guess since Robby isn't an "upfront driver" like Edwards, he doesn't count. :P The only thing I can think of is maybe NASCAR felt like he wasn't trying to bring out the caution. I feel like it was wrong and if you throw something out then it should be looked at as debris. Maybe NASCAR was just trying to use reasonable judgment that he wasn't trying to bring out the caution. He still should have kept it in the car. It had water in it and wasn't gong to blow around in the car. Maybe he just got irritated for a minute. Watched that myself and it was his water bottle! It's just another gray area in the rule book. Nascar decides if they want to enforce the rule or not! WWE style!
Peace! If Dale Jr had done it.......hmm........ they would have penalized everyone else and made Jr restart 1st It does happen a lot & probably goes unseen or because it's not actually on the track. An empty water bottle inside a race car going 200+ mph isn't a good thing. I think Carl handled that situation the right way and do not think it was to draw a caution. It isn't like he was at the top of the track and just pitched it out the window. You are right, there isn't supposed to be anything thrown out of the cars. This just happened to be in that "iffy" area. =o`) I didn't see it, but I will be going back to check it out... Whether he threw it out of the groove or not, I don't think they should be allowed to do that. Seriously, What's the drawback to just leaving the empty bottle in your car until after the race or until you hit the garage? The same way Dale Jr. got away with passing the pace car in the Spring and Mr. 18 got away with passing below the yellow line at Talladega. I saw that to. Water bottle! I had to rewinding my DVR just to make sure I was not seeing things. I guess sense it was on the apron there was 'no problem" and maybe nascar was in a good mood not to penalize him.

It's a more expensive ticket, my guess is he paid a whole lot more or he got them for free from a company he works for or something. i always thought you could watch the truck, cup and nationwide race without paying for Nationwdie and Truck tickets. 2 years ago I went to a truck race wit my granfather in the air condition seats we saw cup qualifying and practice,nationwide (then busch) practice truck qualifying and the truck race did he have to pay for those and the race or was it free with a race ticket????

jr.'s not losing any fans. there's no doubt that jr. is not the best driver out there, and he probably is just average and yes, ok! he IS overrated! If he's got 18 wins in 8 years and no championships with all those fans why WOULDN'T he be overrated? But that's not the point. Bandwagons are not true fans. I am a true fan. I stick with my driver through rough times and good times. I don't want to be a bandwagon like half of the Rowdy fans out there. It's not like Rowdy ever hit the wall. And of course I guess you're calling Johnson and Gordon average too since they finished 17th and 42nd.
As if you're calling him a BAD driver when he is really about a 7/10 driver. Those 3/10 are gonna be filled in (I hope) with more wins this year. if not, then let the haters hate. I will never figure them out.
Jr. screwed up. harvick screwed up at infineon. kyle screwed WAY up at Pocono. Why isn't there any nasty crap about them?
Not to mention when he hit the wall he was on older tires than everyone else. With that in mind, it's safe to say the Dale Jr. will never win a Cup. Vow to stick with him If Junior lost any fans they were some of the band wagon fans which is no big loss. True fans stick by their driver win or loose. Y'all just can't let it be. Junior makes a mistake or has an incident due to a tire issue and it's a major ordeal. Where are all the boo birds when it happens to the other drivers?? GO JR!!!!! i will always love Jr. People are starting to realize Junior is a made-for-TV racer like Cole Trickle, while Kyle Busch is the real deal. then they arnt real fans a real fan sticks with his driver no matter what Stand back folks, I got my AMP green worm on the end of the line. He knows how to set up for some events but there are some tracks he is lost.Dale Earnhardt would tell Tony Eury how to set the car up,Junior did not do the set ups.
Sure he is a good driver but so are all 43 in the race.He can and does know some tracks better than others but he lacks the skill to set up the car to win,he sets up for comfort. I was never one to begin with, thank God.
People seem to finally realize the err in their ways. Have you realized it yet?? Or are you still clinging on to the he's 4th in points excuse?? If a decent driver was in that car theyd work wonders. I've always thought of Jr as being an "average" driver but after he totally hit that wall out of 100% his own doing I realized that he might be a notch below average. Even Michael Mcdowell could have kept it off the wall there.
Let's see, first Jr tells Tony to make changes to the car, in the process taking it from a race winning car to a midpack one in a flash. This once again proves that Jr. knows nothing about the dynamics of a race machine.
Then Jr goes off and runs out of the little talent he has by hitting the wall. And then some of the Jr fans in denial had the audacity to blame it on Tony Eury and Kyle Busch. I had to LOL about that. I will give a few Jr fans credit though for seeing what really happened. They are the true fans.
