Did you ever dream of becoming a race car driver?

May be...

  • when you were young did you want to be a race car driver?
  • Yes, still think and dream of it now, I know I have zero chance, hey I failed my driving test twice but a man's allowed to dream.
    I occasionally scare myself silly at Kart races and Santa pod, this helps my dreams to become reality for about 8 seconds!
  • Every time I get behind the wheel of my driving instructors car. . .
  • i wanna be like ALONSO
  • Yes.

    Speedway, Touring Cars and Rallying.
  • Yup because the way I drive I should be a Race car driver.
  • since when I was 8. i've been dreaming about being a race car driver. but idk how.:Drevolution body kits
  • Can ah jr. win ah championship ah in 09?

    May be...

  • NO !!!! You have to be a champion to win a championship. He is not and never will be a champion....
  • If he would keep his mind on racing and not on the "party boy" image he is attempting to show.Sure a drive should have business ventures but he should not be involved with the politics of running it.
    He needs a remake of his crew.A new crew chief and other key members of the crew are needed.
    Bottom line more than likley , no.
  • ah NO
  • I would bet on it.
    GO JR!
  • yup he can and is. dale jr ah in 09 ah the man.
  • Yup he does, anyone does really. I can't wait for 2009 Nascar season.

    Merry Christmas..
  • He has a great chance, it's just that theirs 42 other cars and drivers that also have a great chance of winning the cup!

    Good Luck Jr.

    GO TEAM GEM IN 2009!!!
  • mah ah daddy thinks ah he can
  • ah no
  • No, I don't think he can in 09.
  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • he has as good a chance as most and better than some. So sure he can.
  • I ah think that ah if ah Jr. gets rid of ah Tony Eury Jr. ah then ah he might ah have ah ah chance.
  • He has just as much of a chance to win it in 2009 as he had in 2008.
  • If he stays consistent all year then i think he'll have a shot. Being his second year in at Hendrick he has a better shot then his first year. He's more familiar with everything and as long and him and Eury Jr. get along I think he'll be just fine and have a shot at the title.cosmopoliton drinks
  • Is NASCAR really a sport?

    May be...

  • Yes, definitley........you have to be in very good shape to do what those drivers do............................
  • It's under the category of auto racing, so yes.
    Formula 1 is much better. They actually TURN some other way than LEFT.
  • NASCAR is a higher level of sporting activity, because the object of play is an advanced technical piece of machinery, that is based off of one of the worlds largest industries. Formula 1 is what they feed little puppys
  • Merry Christmas!

    Nascar isn't a sport, it's a lifestyle(I miss those Busch beer commercial).

  • NASCAR is THEE only sport as far as I am concerned! Yeah, I miss it too. Kid: that was a great message to all, and we love you too.

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my true NASCAR family and friends. And to our troops serving everywhere, may God be with you and you have a safe holiday season. My 19 yr. old son is in boot camp right now at Fort Knox. I am scared to death for him, but prouder than you can imagine for stepping up and enlisting.

    *HYPD*
  • if i said no would you hate me?

    yes so the answer to yo question is yes
  • Yes it is and Dale Jr is the supreme being in Nascar. He is my higher power.
  • E N T E R T A I N M E N T

  • NASCAR is a Sport and it's #1 in my heart.

Dave email me at my new email address that i gave you. Alrite Folks 2008 out...2009 in. Tighten those belts tight One More Time! Play Nice...Play Nice! Merry Christmas!!
  • It's both. A sport and the BEST sport.

    Merry Christmas to you and all of NASCAR Nation!
  • well i love nascar, favorite driver used to be dale Sr until the accident so its been JR ever since, i love it, personally i think its considered a sport, even though its not the conventional type of sport you'd think about but try drive 175+ mph for 4 hours straight, most people can't even stay in a car for over 2 hours straight lol, and you do have to be in good shape to for the endurance and how hot it gets in the car, i do laugh when people say its not a sport or real racing just because you go ina circle, well what about drag racing when you don't even turn you just go a straight line and only last a few seconds, or what about the conventional sports, baseball which i love, you hit a ball with a stick and run around in a circle, basketball you bounce a ball from one side to another and shoot it ina hole, football you run or throw a ball back and forth and sometime kick it between 2 poles, soccer you just kick the ball around and kick it in a net, if your gonna try to make nascar sound easy then you should make all sports sound easy like i just did, they might be a bunch of rednecks but they're a bunch of rich a** rednecks to lol
  • Yup on both accounts.
    Merry Christmas everyone.gnuboy games
  • Is NASCAR the poor man's Formula 1?

    May be...

  • I thought Formula 1 was infant milk.....LOL...rich or poor, a kids gotta have their milk. It has nothing to do with NASCAR, THEE best sport there is!

    *HYPD*
  • NO, IT'S AMERICA'S #1 SPORT!!

    NOW GO LAY DOWN YOU PESKY MUT!!!
  • No, Your point? They race much different cars so you really can not compare Nascar to Formula 1.
  • i dont think so
  • No. Formula 1 started with 1 formula. They've apparently stuck with that same boring formula.
    NASCAR is constantly evolving. Sometimes in a good way; sometimes not. At least NASCAR drivers aren't afraid to rub fenders. Oops, sorry, F1 cars don't have fenders, do they? Good. I hate to hear grown men scream like little girls. : )
  • I dont think so. I dont like Formula 1, I like NASCAR. And they arent the same so there cant be a comparison.
  • uh way more people watch nascar than F1 so why don't you watch more of those pieces of metal zip around a squiggle, each of them 20 seconds apart.

    And also F1 is not real racing.
  • Is the American south poorer than Europe?
  • NASCAR is an American men's sport-not a Champagne drinking buy-the-seat follow the leader F1 race.
  • No. We may follow both but as a free democracy we choose to support Nascar whether rich or poor in sickness and in health. I guess i am married to it now!
  • nope, NASCAR is an American sport
  • ? Nascar dominates the US. I guess you're European.
  • What a stupid question. No. NASCAR is one thing, F1 is another.
    You can't compare the two.
    Although I appreciate and watch both....Formula 1 is technology driven, NASCAR is anything but technological. It is more driver related.
    Now, F1 is more precise. So you have less room for error. Does that make them better....hard to tell. Gordon drove an F1 Car and would have made the field. Montoya obviously has done well, but not great.
    I think it depends on the driver. Some guys from F1 would suck at Stock cars, and some Cup guys would suck in F1.

    Now....the dumbass who says NASCAR should go to "Elk CART Lake" you are a dumbass. If you're going to answer something, make sure you know what the fck you're talking about you dolt.

    Also 88: the guy who said more people watch NASCAR. You are a dumbass as well. F1 usually attracts double the audience at twice the price. Again, make sure you know what you are talking about before making dumb comments.
  • You poor thing, you meant to say: "Is Formula 1 the poor man's NASCAR?"
  • Yes.

    With NASCAR, it's like playing T-Ball. Everyone hits from the tee so that they all get the same chance, but more importantly none of them could hit a fastball to save their lives. I'd love to see any NASCAR driver get behind the wheel of an F1 racer and try a Gran Prix some time. It would be good for laughs -- until the fiery crash anyway.
  • They are two different types of racing. That's like comparing Cricket and baseball.

    I like both, but my preferred choice is NASCAR.

    And if you did even a liiiiitle bit of research you would find that it ain't cheap to run in NASCAR.
  • me likes F1 and me likes NASCAR wat is der left for me to do?

    ~~~!!!!DANCE!!!~~~
  • OWNED!
    F1 IS ALWAYS BETTER!
    You just made my day
    EDIT: Well, at least F1 Drivers KNOW how to drive a car. I will respect Nascar when they go to Elk Cart Lake
  • Yeah, sure, that's why all F1 drivers are coming to Nascar. Looks like F1 is taking a back seat.
  • REAL MEN DRIVE IN NASCAR ............. F1 thats for girls!!!!!!!!!
  • everybody knows formula 1 is superior
  • Wow.. those Formula 1 folks are pretty harsh about NASCAR. Me - it's all about NASCAR. There is no other type of racing for me.
    Formula 1??? I agree. That's for babies. Waaaaaahhh....go travel voucher
    How do you change Avatars?
    May be...
  • Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
    If you want to change your cartoon avatar then follow this link.... http://avatars.yahoo.com// and follow the instructions there.......
    If you want to create a unique avatar (and you don't have one already) then you need to get a Yahoo! 360(follow this link) http://360.yahoo.com once you have that.....
    On your 360 page, select *My Page* at the top right hand side.
    Select *Edit Personal Photos* on the left hand side(this will take you to the photo upload page).
    Select Browse(this will allow you to choose from the pictures you have saved to your computers harddrive),select which one you wish to use as your avatar by clicking on it and select open(the picture you use MUST be in JPEG format and less than 5MB) scroll down to the bottom of the page and select save.
    If you have uploaded more than one picture(you can have up to 4) you will have to then re-select edit personal photos,choose the one you wish to be your avatar and set it as the primary photo and then scroll down and save.
    Now you need to go to your Answers profile page http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my;_ylt=AtnV...
    Select Edit My Info on your profile page.There are 3 photo boxes there,underneath the middle one click Use my Yahoo! 360 picture.Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Preview.
    On the new page that has just opened for you (Edit My Profile Preview) scroll down to the bottom and click OK
    That's it you have changed the picture you display,it may take a little while for the new avatar to show (sometimes it is instantaneous,but more often than not it takes a day or two) =)
  • the first answer got it. their is a lot of stuff on there.
  • If you want to get a picture, start a Y!360 page. It's a very fun place and you'll enjoy it. If you want it to just be a cartoon, go to Y! Avatars.
  • What the lady up above said was right..you can change your avatar like you did when you made the one you have only the racing stuff is limited and no particular driver.
    My avatars for racing and these are made for me.
    Pres. Tom has offered to make anyone an avatar to be more in tune with your driver and cancer awareness...I won't speak for him for sure but you could email him and see if he will make you a Jeff Gordon one.
    Then you do have to save it someplace (I save mine on my desktop) and then go to your 360 and follow the instructions above.
  • I see so many different styles that I would love to change mine to be more in tune to Jeff. But I don't know how to get the fun/fancy stuff. Can anyone help me change my avatar?
    Thanks all!
  • What " ♥ of Gold" said. She was right on, deserves best answer.
  • YEP SHE SURE KNOWS HOW AND HEARS PROOF
    THANKS TO MY NASCAR BROTHER TOM
  • How in tune with Jeff do you want to be?
    Tom Prez will put you in tune with Jeff for Nascar.93 diamante
  • Opinion survey: Was NASCAR intimidated? Read the following on the $225 million dollar law suit.?
    May be...
  • i bet they settled for much less that what was stated above..more than likely she got around $20 million.or even less
  • no they just wanted to get rid of the bad PR so they gave her enough $$$$ to shut up and go away. Regardless if the allegations were true or not
  • I agree with Tina...they NEVER get what they ask for. What a moronic decision to give her anything. Now watch....this is just the tip of the iceberg...every person who thinks they can get rich quick will be suing for "racial discrimination" and or "sexual harrassment". Morons the whole lot of them.
  • http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081219/ap_o...
  • I'm sure they were intimidated but I don't think she actually got the $225 million. Most companies run by white people are intimidated by any threat of a racial lawsuit. I think they settled on a different amount / terms. The $225 million was the original amount of the lawsuit. What she actually got wasn't made public.
    "Settlement terms were confidential"
  • I am so sick of this kind of stuff. 225 million? I mean cmon. even if they settled for 40 million or something like that. Because somebody was mean to you? Stupid. I once had a black cashier refuse to give me my change at a gas station because she said "You're white.. you have enough money.. you dont need it"
    Did I sue Texaco for 200 million dollars? No. People need to get over themselves.
  • Oh my word....
    I feel violated by that story.
    Do you know how many times I have been called whitey, honky, casper????
    I think I might file a lawsuit against someone.
    Anyone out there know a company run by "Minorities" that I might be able to get some $$ out of?
    Please, I feel so violated!!!!!
    And yes they were intimidated, now just wait for the steamroller to come in.
  • What's wrong with this country. No one should get that much money for discrimination, unless someone was killed. No wonder our insurance rates are so high. Our judicial system is pathetic. I hope this person is forever plagued by people using her for the money she gets. It's just stupid and pathetic.
  • Tom P hit it right on the head...........I can not count the times that I have been called a racist name by a black person and so have my kids at school. The bottom line is that it is "OK" for blacks to be racists but not the whites. This is the REAL problem in this country........It has to be the same for both sides. I think NASCAR just gave her a check to make her go away...........................
  • i think they just didn't want the bad publicity which means they were intimidatedresults for taboo tuesday
  • Nascar Nation...............?
    May be...
  • I am with Superdave on this one. Rusty Wallace Miller lite for me!!
  • I see no need for more than one Elliott Sadler. How about a Travis Kvapil?
  • 1998 Daytona 500 when Dale Earnhardt Sr. finally won! The race that had eluded him his entire career.
    *HYPD*
  • Possibly the 2008 summer race at Daytona. That was some great racing. (If only Ragan would've won...stupid gas can) I didn't start watching NASCAR much 'till this year and I love it now.
    "No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you ... he rubbed you. And rubbin', son, is racin'." -- Harry Hogge
  • The 2007 Daytona 500. The photo finish with Harvick and Martin and the crash on the final lap was amazing. Either that or a race Jeff Gordon won, especially his first win in the 1994 Coke 600 (biased lol).
  • Oh I would have thrilled to go to the Winston Cup race at Rockingham 2003 when Matt clinched the title, I would have been partying in the grandstands, even at 13 at the time. Hey Jessi, you want to join me?
  • Daytona feb 2009 when Mark Martin wins followed by #99 my driver cousin Carl Edwards.
  • Daytona. 1959
    i pick the nationwide race when i snowed in 06
  • Dale Jr. winning the Pepsi 400, July 2001 at Daytona.
  • I would go to the 1998 Daytona 500 to see Dale Earnhardt win :)
  • oooh, hard question let me think about it, for a while!
  • Who is your Least Favorite Driver?
    May be...
  • Kyle Busch.
  • JJ, JG, KB, KB.
  • Clint Bowyer
  • Dale Earnhardt, Jr............
  • I am going to say Jimmie Johnson...LOL Only because he is too good and I don't want to see a "4's fine in 09"...LOL
    Used to be Juan Pablo Montoya...I don't know I really don't have a least favorite...just favorites I guess and then everyone else falls in behind.
  • Has to be Jimmie Johnson I guess....would love to see someone else win for a change...don't hate him mind you...just want to see someone else.
  • I really don't have one, but if I had to choose, it would be Juan Pablo Montoya.
  • Kevin Harvick
  • i will have to agree with the popular vote here and say gordon
  • I don't really have one,but I guess David Gilliland would be my least favorite driver right now after the crap he pulled with Montoya at Texas
  • Kasey Kahne is my least favorite driver.
  • Michael Waltrip , retire dude, your giving your brother a bad name!!!
  • Kyle Bush.
  • I don't do favorites
  • Tony Stewart
  • Johnny Sauter
  • With so many to choose from its hard to pick just one. Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, JPM, Tony Stewart, and the list goes on and on
  • Johnny Sauter (aka Johnny Slaughter) cause the dude can slaughter his car and everybody else's car on the race track. Dude go back and take Nascar driving 101.
    Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2009
  • Kevin Harvick, but I don't know why! Just many different little things he's done over the years. On track and off!
  • I hate clint Bowyer, just because of his attitude and lack of Patriotic display.
  • Juan Pablo Montoya
  • I don't like Robby Gordon.
  • Juan Montoya, what an arrogant a$$.
  • Tony Stewart
  • "I swear he's using vaseline on the 24 chevrolet. Jeff Gordon's gay, he must be gay." Yeah, probably Jeff Gordon.
  • Jeff ''Gay'' Gordon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  • jeff gordon
  • as far as old school Rusty Wallace and current drivers Jeff Gordon
  • Dale Jr.
  • I will have to say Kyle Busch! But I don't like Jimmie Johnson very well either!
  • Kyle Busch. This should come to no surprise to anyone on here who knows me..lol. But I don't talk smack about him anymore...I have learned to respect his fans.kayker
  • 17.12.08
    Nascar Nation..If I got abducted by F-1 fans, would you rescue me?
    May be...
  • No. I'd join yah. F1 rocks.
  • What Nascar drivers car would you use to perform the rescue?
  • I'd have to agree with tregosteevo, BUT>>>
    I'd bring Tony Stewart along.
    The F1 people would be afraid of him eating them, so they would all turn French and either run away, or real quick put on NASCAR caps.
    LOL....
    I crack me up....
  • As Secretary of (NASCAR) Defense I would declare war on them and we would no doubt have you back in the NASCAR forum ASAP! We gots your back Storm. I'd use Ryan Newman (he's smart), Kyle Busch (he's expendable...jk) and Jimmie Johnson (he's the best). Ryan would infiltrate them, Kyle would be my mercenary and Jimmie would drive you safely to freedom.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • This is NASCAR NATION!!! Of course! Unless they abducted me before I rescue anyone and will never see water again. I would use Robby Gordon. For backup, I'll go to Kyle Busch. Both have scrappy attitude. If that doesn't work, Morgan Shepard will help us spiritually.
  • you tough. Your a NASCAR fan. They can't hurt you Report Abuse
  • How ravenous are these fans and what are their intentions towards you?
    Are they holding you for ransom and if so, how much are you worth?
    You'd have fun..
  • That's easy. Robby Gordon.
  • Sure I'll bring Johnny Slaughter (aka Sauter) OMG he'll wreck them all, and I'd have Robby Gordon as back up.. I think you'll be just fine. I like F1, but their trolls are wicked. But Sauter and Gordon, they'll take care of them in less than 3 seconds..
    Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2009
  • yep, i'd use kyle busch's car so if i wrecked it, it wouldn't be any big deal. in fact, it would be kind of a bonus, plus i'd save kyle the trouble of wadding it up himself. (sorry maggie) those sissy european F1 fans wouldn't know what to do with a pretty girl like you anyway.
  • I'd rescue you anytime, anywhere!!!
  • Yes i would save you
    i would use Kyle's car then when i take you to a safe place give it to you
  • As the Secret Service I would be with Trego and bring The HMS gang plus Robby Gordon to save you !
  • F-1 is evil and I would try to bring you back. I would employ Tony Stewart and Robbie Gordon because they are take no s**t type of guys. Kyle Busch for his aggresion. Jimmie Johnson in case we decided that diplomacy might work.hibiscus rubber stamp
  • Nascar Trivia---What did they used to use?
  • I'm very surprised that the answer isn't a simple google away, I assumed it would be. Nice question.
    I bet the primary source of drying back then was simply vehicles circulating the track at yellow flag speed.
    Interested to hear the real answers though.
  • My guess, they would drive cars around at high speeds to evaporate the water.
    If my feeble memory serves me correct, they stopped that after the "pace car" that was being used to dry the track crashed into the stands killing some spectators.
    Or something like that.
  • kitty litter??? or sawdust???
    I say that because when I had a flood in my basement that is what I was told to use (kitty litter). Bought a ton of it and it worked wonders. Though not practical for a race track...still it's a guess only.
  • I know a lot of tracks used to drag tires around to dry the track.
  • Back in the 60's before the jet dryer was affordable and available for NASCAR's use what did the use to dry the track after a rain shower?
    And yes they did use something....do you know what NASCAR's primary source for track drying was??? Good luck and have fun with it.
    This practice continued until the late 60's (some tracks kept until early 70's) but was utlimately discontinued after an accident occurred during a rainy Michigan event that forced NASCAR to come up with a safer option. So what do you think??? What was the accident??
  • Who was the first driver black flagged at Daytona ad what was the infraction?
    What year did the tradition of the Daytona 500 being the first race of the season begin?
    What driver in 1973 retired his car early at Talladega because "a voice in the car told him to?"
    Who was the first woman to lead a lap in the Cup Series?
    1985 was on of the shortest seasons in Nascar history, shortest since 1950. How may races were in it?
    How far from the wall are measurements taken for track length measurements (ex. Talladega - 2.66 mi.)?
  • Who was the first driver black flagged at Daytona ad what was the infraction? Herman Beam, forgot his helmet but it happened before the start of the Twin 100's not actually during the 500. Happened Feb 12 1960.
    What year did the tradition of the Daytona 500 being the first race of the season begin?
    1982 was the first year....Benny Parsons won the
    pole, Bobby Allison won the race.
    What driver in 1973 retired his car early at Talladega because "a voice in the car told him to?"
    Bobby Issac driving Bud Moore's #15 Engine Conditioners Ford; heard voices in the car telling him to get out. He radioed Bud telling him to find another driver...he was quitting. The retirement only lasted
    6 months...he kept driving on and off until 1977 when he suffered a heart attack after a race at Hickory.
    Who was the first woman to lead a lap in the Cup Series?
    Deborah Renshaw was the first woman to lead a lap in any NASCAR sanctioned series....never knew she was in Cup??
    You may have me stumped on this one...Gunthrie never led
    a lap did she???
    1985 was on of the shortest seasons in Nascar history, shortest since 1950. How may races were in it?
    28 races after the two races at Nashville Fairgrounds was cut
    How far from the wall are measurements taken for track length measurements (ex. Talladega - 2.66 mi.)?
    Have no idea??? That's a question for Fluffy.
  • I love racing! Got my start young racing my bike...no one was faster...I won lots of milk money off my friends. I moved up in the ranks driving late models after becoming a driver for the team I was a fabricator for.
    We moved to ARCA together and did great! We even made our first CUP start that year thanks to MAC Tools. The next year we went CUP full time, let's just say I loved a restaurant that features a Bear. But that season became a bear I was released due to poor finishes; moved on to a "headache" of a car and finished the year with a car that made me twidle my "fingers". But my career got back on track, my dog loved listening to the stereo that year. But by the end of the year I needed a blue light not green for a ride the next year. That team was eventually bought by a cruise line I think...the owner was my "captain". We even won a race at Pocono. Performance dropped and I had to move on....which had me seeing RED! Things were looking up my new team and I clicked but again my performance fell.
    What's worse, I "told" on my owner, I felt he was giving too much "face time" to our truck team and my team was getting ignored. Let's just say he didn't take it well. I've bounced around after that. But 09 is looking promising....I have signed with a truck team that won several
    races in 08....wish me luck! Do you know who I am????
  • What kind of nascar track would you make if you could?
    May be...
  • I see other people have my same thoughts on this. I'd make a 3/4 mile track with one slighty tighter turn and 24% banking, sort of egg shaped. On the other end I would make it a more sweeping turn with 12% banking. Both straightaways would be 5% banking. The different ends puts a little more in the hands of the driver instead of on just how the car is setup. I would build it in Wisconsin (a ton of fans here) or close to the Twin Cities (in MN) for selfish reasons. It would definitely have lights and seat about 100,000.
  • -kind of track (speedway, road course, short track)
  • I would make a high bank (think Bristol) but make it .75 mile to give it a little more straight. Drivers would have to drive the track, not burn up their tires and conserve brakes. I wouldn't make it too long of a race, maybe 333 laps and I would see about having it nicked named The Intimidator. Maybe by leasing out the name Teressa can keep DEI going.
  • Why did Dale Earnhart Jr. leave his dads organization?
    May be...
  • He wanted to own 51% of it, the owner of DEI said no. He left.
  • She wanted to bring in much more talented drivers like Regan Smith and Paul Menard
  • $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, I'm guessing.
  • last year like 6 blown engines this year
    none
    which would u choose???
  • I think Dale left for several reasons. First, as he so bluntly put it, their relationship had never been a bed of roses. They had conflict. He didn't like the way she ran the show and he didn't think she knew how to run the show. (On that point I agree with him) She wouldn't let go of the purse strings so she more or less called his hand and he took the leap knowing he'd land somewhere and anything would be better than 8 DNF's. When Hendricks decided not to keep Kyle that was the perfect opportunity for Dale to drop by and pay a visit. Hendricks is not paying Dale nearly the amount of money he is paying others. If you look at his total monies for the year, his is lower than most. Martin Truex made more money this past year. Dale wanted to drive for the best he could get and he knew what Hendricks had to offer. He wanted to have his best shot at the championship and having the best cars on the track sure doesn't hurt your chances. He found his first real job and now he is having to earn his keep. Something that will be another feather in his hat of saying I am not a Cup driver because my dad was. He needed to get out from under that cloud. He had lots of reasons and I think he made the best decision for himself in many ways to leave DEI and drive for someone that would let him drive, not for his popularity but for his ability as a race car driver.
  • Running the risk of being a little crude but it wasn't his dads organization anymore, so he had no reason to stay.
  • He felt like he needed to compete for championships and win races. He felt like DEI was not being ran in a fashion that would get him those things. He offered to make a deal with his step mother Teresa to allow him to buy 51% of the business so he could manage DEI. One thing he stated was that Dale Jr was NOT going to keep putting HIS money into DEI and not having any say so in the business. He made the offer and she tried to set the price for 51% of the company way more than Dale Jr was willing to buy it at. She set a ridiculous amount (between $55 million and $75 million) http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn... and also wanted DEI to be run by a board instead of Dale Jr having the majority of the control and power to run it as he saw fit.. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/10/dale-... Dale Jr refused to pay that amount after a lot of cat-and-mouse games with Teresa. In fact she hired someone to deal with Dale instead of dealing with Dale Jr personally (her step son/family). Dale Jr saw the talks were going nowhwere and he had always had a dream as a kid of one day driving for Rick Hendrick. There were no driver positions available at HMS until Rick Hendrick learned that Kyle Busch may be looking for another team and that he was unhappy with where he was at. Rick went ahead and let Kyle go and hired Dale Earnhardt Jr. One of the things I remember from the time it occured was teams were having to rely on computer programs (7 post shakers) in order to set their cars up because of the limited testing rule in place back then. DEI did not own one and to this day I still don't think they own one. In fact Dale Jr's Busch series team and shop had their own 7 post shaker and DEI was using Dale Jr's 7 post shaker. Dale Jr felt like she wasn't investing the money in the proper areas to be competitive and he felt he was wasting his time. Things happened and doors opened at the right time and he became a driver for Rick Hendrick.mrs blue
    Nascar Nation----a trivia question! Can you name this driver?
    May be...
  • I think I found it. I think it was Rick Mast in the #1 Skoal Classic Olds. The race was the Winston 500 at Talladega. This looks like the finish right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW73-peFk...
  • You have the answer...Rick Mast. But Thanks for the great history reminder for today. I had forgotten all about that race.
    *HYPD*
  • Dang! Beat me to it! Rick Mast is right, at the Winston 500 at Talladega.
  • Rick Mast was my Guess as well
    From the looks of my NASCAR book I think it is Rick mast
  • In 1991 Harry Gant was running very VERY low on fuel. His crew chief was screaming at him over the radio either pit or slow down because they were not going to make it to the finish. You see Gant and his crew chief were gambling trying to steal a win so to speak. They were going to attempt what at the time was thought impossible run 149 miles on one tank of fuel. With 5 laps to go the #33 started to sputter...Gant sighed...he wasn't going to win. But then hope came in another car coming to the rescue! A driver who was a huge Gant fan before he made it to CUP (who by the way was a few laps down) started bumping the #33...Gant would knock it in neutral take a bump, coast awhile and fire it back up. NASCAR rules do not allow any car to assist another on the final lap of a race so with 1 and a half lap to go this driver backed way down and then gave the #33 a bump that nearly wrecked our HERO HARRY....the bump was just enough to get Gant 3 quarters around the track. In turn 4 Gant fired up and chugged and sputtered his way to the finish line. Gant was cleared of any cheating and was allowed to keep the win without being penalized. So can you name this driver who helped his old buddy win??? Can you name the race??? The other car # and sponsor??? Here's a hint he drove an Olds just like Harry! Good luck and have fun with it.2005 ford expedition problem
  • imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. i guess i'm your hero or something huh? email me and i'll give you some pointers on how to be cool like me. BTW if you're gonna imitate me, you're gonna need to use proper grammar, moron. (he was going to blow the doors off OF everyone.)
  • Lack of talent Its very simple, dale jr is a below average driver.and always will be. That's about the only thing going positive for him(lack of talent) Overrated: Daddy's coat tail. I want to know when his fans are going to realize that. In my opinion he(dale jr) needs to get away from that name, enjoy life outside that bar he owns "Whiskey River"
  • Dale, Jr. is not his dad. Look at the Pettys. Richard won 200 races; Kyle won 8. Dale, Jr. is not in the same class as Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards. He also insists on having a relative as his crew chief and that did not work at DEI and did not work with HMS. The only race he has won in 2 years was on fuel mileage. He made one less pit stop that everyone else and without that he would have 0 wins. He is one of the most over rated pro athletes ever. He is the same age as Jimmie Johnson and has 21 less wins.
  • If you weren't an imposter, I would answer your question.
  • Maybe it's you that needs the Kleenexs
  • Junior just doesn't have what it takes to win week after week. He doesn't have the talent, the crew chief, the drive and he is far from fit to handle the rigor of putting the effort week end and week out. Just look at his record as of late. He does well the first part of the season and then he just flops. He and his crew cheif need to find their way to the gym.
    All I have to say is next year Jr. will kick some butt!
    What comes around in nascar goes around.You'd be best to remember that.
  • He is not that great of a driver. He is totally over rated!
  • Rick Hendrick spent too much time scratching his butt instead of keeping ahead of the curve on the COT... when he finally realized how far behind he got, he only had time to improve Jimmie's car.
    That, and Eury Junior is a hack.
    Are any of you as tired of all the NASCAR rules as I am?
    May be...
  • it is pretty lame. They really only need one manufacturer. They should start up a new company that makes all the cars and parts for NASCAR race cars. They want to clone them anyway. It's not really what the sport was supposed to be about in the first place. The only thing they can never destroy is the competitive nature. Something still inherent in drag racing. In another generation it won't matter anyway. It will all just be part of history, like everything else in the automotive and transportation industry.
  • I think they should line up the field of cars drop the green flag and anything goes..If you can't stand the heat get off the track..
  • They ( NASCAR ) gives them a shoe box to race and then won't let them do anything to make it raceable.
  • It is not that I am tired of the rules, I am tired of them changing the rules. You know, interpreting the "grey" area of the infamous "rule book" that nobody outside NASCAR has ever seen. Sad thing is, if they gave them a shoe box to race, and the means to make it raceable, they would just change the rules as soon as somebody started going faster!
    *HYPD*
  • not all just some nascar has to have rules id like to see stupid black flag calls a thing of the pass(passing below yellow line) stuff like that overaggresive driving would be a good black flag call but pasing below the yellow line no
  • well, sort of. Most of the rules NASCAR has are a little big bogus, but they're fair. The simple fact is when you have an association where 43 cars, some overfinanced and some underfinanced, fairness becomes quality. with money and sponsors so important, NASCAR wants to make it as safe, fair and interesting as possible.
    Here's the thing. Safe, interesting and fair don't mesh very well.risk game palm
  • What makes the brickyard 400 so special?
    May be...
  • All of the blown tires, the multitude of cautions, the parade of cars in a single straight line--drivers praying that their tires will make it another lap.....GOOD TIMES....Good times. Ugh!
  • it isn't, just another track, now the older, smaller tracks that nascar saw in their infinite wisdom to shutdown, now they were special.
  • I know its like the 2nd most specal race in NASCAR, right behind the daytona 500. but WHY? Why is a two-mile open-wheel orginated rectangle so important in a stock car league? I just don't get why there's all this hype when the Brickyard is meant for IndyCars. It seems so random to have this track, which doesn't have any NASCAR background, as the "2nd Most Important Race."
    Hell, if I was a racecar driver the Brickyard 400 wouldn't even be in the Top 5. So the question is:
    "WHY IS THE BRICKYARD SO SPECIAL?"
  • That's probably the oldest track in the United States. They were racing there in the early 1900s. The word "Indy" (Brickyard) can be associated with the birth of the automobile industry. A lot of testing and competition was done in the early 1900s at that track. That's historic.
  • its ah mah daddy favorit. he even take ah shower to go to ah race.
  • Because it is THEE All American racetrack, home of the Indy 500. It is considered to be the racing capital of the world. It probably has more history than any other track because it has many types of racing. It is a very coveted win that comes at this track. Motorcycles, stockcars, F1's, Indy cars, all types of racing!
    *HYPD*
  • Because it has a lot of history in it. A lot has happen there over the years.
  • Only history that most NASCAR fans know nothing about. They know there's history but they don't know who or what. lol. It's funny because they make fun of California and other tracks when Indy is the least exciting race of em all except for the crossing of the finish line.
  • Tony Stewart kissing the bricks.
  • It's just because of the racing history that has taken place there. Drivers feel privileged to be able to race on a track with so much historical value.
  • Because a lot of history has taken place at the track even if it was in other series. Drivers love to race their for the special reasons and such and everyone wants to win there very badly and give a big kiss to those bricks.
    NASCAR has only been racing at the brickyard for 14 years.kinoma player download
