Why do all the F1 guys keep coming to Nascar?

May be...

  • money and more publicity
  • They knew they were in a dying sport.
  • A new challenge, more money, and topless women! Who wouldn't want all of those things?
  • Because there is not much going in in the F1 forum. When they get bored they like to hang out where all the action is and try to start something with us. Oh, you mean the DRIVERS LOL That's easy, NASCAR is where the action AND money is at plus they feel like it is a more level playing field. The difference between the haves and the have nots in F1 is ridiculous. If you are not on one of the 2 elite teams you can kiss your chance at the championship good bye in F1. The blatant cheating and spygate scandal last year shed a lot of light on what's been going on over there for quite some time.
  • More Money--More TV Time!!!!!!
  • bc they like to sat around all day that is what my uncle told me
  • $$$$$$ - bottom line. There is also a much bigger audience and thus more recognition / fame.

    j
  • If you were in open wheel, wouldn't you want to be part the biggest & best racing league that exists???
  • Kid's to feed ?? House notes to pay ??
  • How do you figure ALL of them KEEP coming to Nascar? Not that many have made the move to full time cup.

I like the fact that more diversified people are coming in. Shows that the sport is growing!
  • Nascar is the most popular form of auto racing in the world, these guys are celebrities. Plus I believe the money is way better in nascar.
  • I wish nascar would make them just run the Bucsh for about a year before they run with the big boys. They are accidents waiting to happen. Look what happened in the 2nd Duel race. Actually, I'd be a lot happier if they stayed where they were. I hate the fact that there were seasoned cup drivers that had to race against the open wheel guys for a spot in the race.
  • My god the people on the NASCAR forum are dumb. Only 2 f1 drivers have gone to NASCAR and both of those were FIRED by their teams.

Montoya has taken a serious pay cut since he went to NASCAR. What did he earn last year? $3,000,000? his salary(not including mega money sponsorship deals and bonuses) when he was at McLaren was $12,000,000. Same goes for Villeneuve.

The money is better in NASCAR than every other race series except F1.

Kimi Raikkonnen earns $51million a year
    Alonso earns $60million per annum.
Hamilton is unknown but its believed to be around $25million
    Massa $10million.

And the rest average around 5-10million a year(before sponsorship). Now if someone here can show me a list where NASCAR drivers earn anything like that i will admit im wrong. Jeff Gordon earns by far the most of any NASCAR driver and he only got something like $15million last year.

And to the delusional person who said NASCAR is the most popular motorsport in the world. good god you do realise no one outside america watches NASCAR? F1 is far and away the most popular motorsport around the world (57,000,000,000 watched the 2001 season!! thats only 16 races) Nascar has 38 races and i would imagine its cumulative figures for the season are around 7-10billion and thats being very generous. How exactly does that come anywhere close to F1 in terms of popularity?

    The Bottom line is:
    Montoya and Villeneuve were FIRED
F1 drivers earn a lot more
F1 has far greater viewing figures

Those are all facts, but yeah you guys keep believeing that America is the world.

Americans...and they wonder why the rest of the world looks down on them.
  • The money is 10 times better in NASCAR, then it is in IRL, CART, or Formula one. There was a newspaper item on this 2 weeks ago here in Az.
  • cause nascar rules
  • Dario was quoted saying he needed a new challenge, after winning Indy. Once the most successful ones get the big wins, they start to get bored.

Note to Mama: I get your point about safety ("accident waiting to happen") but I don't agree that we should feel bad for experienced NASCAR drivers losing their place to open wheel guys. If you can't race by 'em, you don't deserve it.
  • I imagine that the money and the will to race the best drivers in the world are a big factor in their comming to Nascar.
  • 'cause NASCAR is much more exciting and competitive
  • 13.2.08

I wonder what it means when? Mark Martin says " I was ready to go racing 10 laps into it.?

    May be...

  • not really he is just pumping his team up and saying that he has a real good car and making himself high expections showing fans that some of the old guys can still contend for races.
  • All the DEI drivers have been arrogant. They have been very very good. Especially the #8 and #1.

    Watch out!
  • He meant that it only took 10 laps to get his setup right, and he was feelin' racy! Mark Martin is no braggart.
  • Nope. He's just trying to say he's ready to race. No bragging.
  • Means he was really excited and wanted to be out there revin' it up with tha big boy's!!!!
  • No it is not bragging--It means he has got a good car+ the set up was right and he is ready to get racy instead of waiting until the last 20 laps to start making moves!!!!!
  • In old-style Nascar speak....
It took 10 laps or so for Mark's car to get "dialed-in" (tires up to pressure, oil up to temp/pressure, right amount of tire wear, and so on) where his car felt really good.

A good handling car is what you want at Daytona.

    Mark's happy, but not bragging.
  • We tried a few set up ajustments . I got a realy strong horse here. Is he bragging?
  • It's hard to really know what he means when he says something. Remember when he said he was going to retire because he was really excited to be running the Craftsman Truck Series?
  • that means he has a good car and is ready to go racing.. just hope the motor holds..
  • I'd say it means he is happy with the set up and the car seems strong, and he is ready to race and see who has what.

and to answer your additional details--Yes that would really be nice
  • Nacar champ?

    May be...

  • GO JR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • is this year all about hendricks or do you think smoke pulls it out? orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr whom?
  • I think it may again be a Hendrick season
  • Tony Stewart is going to win it.
  • Money is on a HMS driver to win the Championship-Gordon-Johnson-Jr.!!!!!
  • Jeff or Jimmie again GDit!
  • Can I answer this question in November? lol
It's gonna be all about Hendrick - it's Jeff's turn this year.
  • I think Smoke will finish in top 5 this year, but Hendrick's is on a roll, plus they got Earnhardt now to focus on and they will be trying to prove a point as well as Earnhardt giving it his all with what they give him.
  • Another year for HMS.
  • naScar champ? smoke's in a toy, if anybody can get a Cup out of it he can, but stay off the fence oreo doublestuf!!!!! and leave that trick to Helio even if he fagged out on dancing with the stars.

    Hendrick will likely get it.
  • Hendrick Motorsports rules but it will be Jeff Gordon this year!
  • The Toys are have internal engine problems, so you can count on that biting him more than once. On the other hand Hendrick is fielding the Four Horseman who will most likely make the Chase, but with no Team Rules like in F-1 unless one is clearly dominate they could end up like Roush 2 years ago all cars in and none with a big advantage.
  • hendricks
    its jeff gordons year!!!!!!!!!
  • hendricks power
    go #24
    4 titles won
    2 titles stolen from him
  • smoke pulls something but no a champ.
  • Martin Truex Jr all the way!!!
  • i think it goes about like this.....Gordon Johnson JR and smoke
  • smoke is gooona smoke him
  • come on...smokes gonna smoke them all!!!
  • No way! Smoke is driving a Toyota. How many Toyotas won last year?!? It will be a Chevy! My vote is for Dale Jr. Rocked it in the Budweiser Shoot Out! All he needs is a Hendrick motor and the Sprint Championship will be his!!!
  • jeff gordon or jimmie johnson will win . i ahet dale jr.
  • Why for is Earnhardt jr gonna retire?

    May be...

  • Crackhead, sucka-fool!
  • don't bogart that joint my friend pass it over to me
  • I hadnt heard this RUMOR--Im sure I would Have because if this Happened It would Get More TV and Media Time than a Presidential Assassination!!!!!!!
  • smoke another one
  • Let him retire, he sucks anyway, just like this question!

For you Junior fans, I AM JOKING about him sucking, unless it is on a beer!
  • have another
  • WTF he is not going to retire. Your info is wrong there buddy!
  • Uh. . hey troy. . . lay off the meth for a while. . ok?
  • Hey now the only "retirement" in Junior's futurer is when he retires from the race with engine problems.(or any other mechanical problem)
  • Somebody's been in the liquor cabinet again.
  • hey troy! he is going to retire... as soon as he crashes, spins and his head also goes

    SNAP... CRACKLE AND POP!

    love, Andrew
  • Dupree took the words right out of my mouth--have you been into the catnip??? I have no clue what you are talking about.
  • The next time some one hands you a cigarette that they rolled themselves just say NO!
  • I'm not sure where you got your information, but I'll be nice be saying simply that what you've heard in simply untrue.
  • If your gonna drive "don't drink"
If you must drink "don't drive"
  • Hows that catnip treatin you?? Yeah you seeing funny colors and are there butterflies and birdies singing around your head? Aww that's cute your hallucinating!
  • he was supposed to race for the hendrik motorsport why he say that hes not? how can we make him keep racin
  • Well all drivers must retire at some point or another.
When did say he's not? He just won his 1st race with them Saturday night and now he's gonna leave & retire before the 50th annual Daytona 500, The Great American Race?

Man, I don't know what to say...except that ain't gonna happen at all.
  • What are you talking about?
  • Wake up -It was just a bad dream ,now grab a glass of warm milk collect your thoughts and try to get a good nights sleep ,it will all be better when you sober up.
  • What are you talking about? Jr.'s not retiring. Where the heck did you hear that??????
  • Hey quit mixing Amp and Bud, its wacking you out dude..He's not retiring..
  • jr isn't retiring. he's racing for hendrick motorsports. he just won the bud shootout saturday night
  • Have a K97city Cookie.... then call her in the morning !!
  • I don't know the answer to that so I just gave everyone that did
a thumbs up---- I did my part
  • Nothing has changed for Dale Jr., he will be driving for HMS and will probally do well with them.
  • thanks baby! my answers are always DEAD BALLS ON ACCURATE! keep trolling this section.. it's fun

there is one guy I won't troll anymore, he proved to be okay. but someone keeps having me yanked.. so the gloves are off now

    thanks again baby! Report It
  • wtf y would he retire he just won his first race since 2006 why would he retire, you must be dreamin................
  • WHAT??????????????
  • Does anyone remember Jim Trueman ?

    May be...

  • The answer is "start off with a large fortune." Jim Trueman was a class act
  • He had one of the best lines in racing.See if you can remember. He was talking to a reporter and said "Do you know how to make a small fortune in racing?"
Answer ???I will post if nobody recalls.
  • How many big ones and flips do you think will be in daytona 500 this year?

    May be...

  • I'm sure there will be a wreck or two but hopefully no blowovers. I fully expect the Duels will have the inexperienced hitting the walls and pinballing everywhere. My hope is the totally inexperienced wont make it through the two qualifying races. I feel for any driver that has to be near or behind the drivers with no cup experience.
  • Self explanitory question. My guess is 1 really big one and 2-3 small big ones and at least 1 blowover at the end of the race. Not trying to say i only watch nascar for the wrecks which i dont, just asking for you guys opinions. Ive been a Jimmie Johnson fan since 2001 and Jeff Gordon fan since 1994. Dale jr. fan since 2000. GO HENDRICK!!!!
  • I think there will be less wrecks. Did you see the shootout? It looks like the new car is a lot easier to save than the old ones. Hopefully that extra "forgiveness" that the car provides will prevent the huge wrecks.
  • I'll say 1 big one and 2 small ones. I think 1 car will roll over, but won't get air born, Kinda like how Clint did it last year, just tip over.
  • Probably a good size one towards the end like last yr, I can't see these big COT's (aka tanks) flipping over. There'll be wrecks, but the biggest one will be towards the end..
  • There will probably be a 'big one' - there always is... as for flipping... there will be ONE flip - viewable only in victory lane as Carl Edwards celebrates his WIN!!!
  • um I think probally 2-3 as well!
    Finally another hendricks fan!!!!
I have always been a jeff gordon fan and he is my favorite driver! but 2nd and 3rd are jimmie johnson and dale jr.!!!
    Those boys can race(lol)!!!
I really hope gordon wins we can only hope but i would be happy for any of those 3!!!
    Have a great day!!!!!
  • This is gonna be one that you need to record so you can show your grandbabies. They'll be pickin' up some costly vehicles with brooms & dustpans.
  • Probably 1 BIG ONE--2 Small Ones and 1 On the last lap!!!!!
  • No flipping. The COT is too boxy and heavy. Maybe one medium one. I think that the guys will drive conservative since the cars are so difficult to handle.
  • 2 and 1, more flips than that if ya count "the bird".
  • I will say 1 big one at the end as usual. I dont think any will get airbourne and flip. There will probally be 3 or 4 small ones and there will be a bunch of bruised ego's!
  • here you go 1 big one will happen I am guessing about 16-19 cars with atleast a little bit of damage. as for flips, if a car flips I will be surprised.
  • 2 big ones, no flips....
  • Do you agree or disagree?

    May be...

  • agree
  • Absolutely agree. Very clever by the way.
  • Apparently he hits like a girl because he didn't leave a mark on Kurt.
  • I would have loved to been that fly, yep priceless. Sorry Superdave I know he's your guy.
  • Yes (just a side note: Kyle is Shrub, not Kurt. Reason is because a shrub is a small bush and Kyle is the younger one... Just FYI ;) )
  • leave stewart alone.
  • i think that he has grown up. but i do love to see controversy.
  • Did he hit Kurt? That's funny, because there doesn't appear to be a mark on him. Hmm.
  • Agree
  • agree
  • that's funny dude
  • Well Worth the Price of admission!!!! and only to be that fly!!!!!!
  • I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Wish I was the fly
  • If your gonna come in here and make fun of someone at least get your info right pal. Shrub is Kyle Busch, Not Kurt ding -a -ling! lol
  • definately agree !!
  • Agree, but he didn't leave a mark on chubby cheeks.
  • pretty funny!!!!
  • Tickets to a NASCAR race $150.00. Food at the track and souvenirs $100.00. Being a fly on the wall in the hauler when Tony Stewart punched that jerk Shrub PRICELESS.
  • i disagree tony should have gotten more he threw the punch
  • Disagree. Don't worry... we'll have plenty of chances this season to watch Tony lose his temper.
  • Motorsport fans?

    May be...

  • fernando alonso
  • Senna.
  • Nigel Mansell.
    Also Senna, Schumacher and Frentzen.
Senna was out of this world.
But Mansell is my all time favorite.
  • whos your favourite driver?
  • Too many to name all of them, but Ayrton Senna is my childhood hero.
  • Dale Earnhardt Sr.
  • Who do you think is going to win the f1 championship.?

    May be...

  • I personally think raikkonen will win his second championship...but im really hoping that hamilton does the buisiness
  • Ferrari looks bad fast in testing. They may walk away with it this year.
  • It would really be a toss up between Kimi and Felipe but the money will always be on Kimi winning his 2nd straight title
  • Kimi Raikkonen to win back-to-back titles. Now he knows the secret he will do it again. Also, the Ferrari has been REALLY quick in testing.

Alonso should finish third behind the two Ferraris, but ahead of Piquet and the two McLarens. I think Renault haven't been running flat out in the tests up until now, they've been doing setup and reliability work, whereas McLaren look like they are trying to be quick.
  • Really hoping that Kimi will win again! But it will come down to who has the best car. Going to have to wait for the season to start before we can make proper predictions.
  • Ferrari look strong, Massa makes more mistakes than Raikkonen even though he's very quick.
I don't think McLaren will be as competitive as they were last year, they've had quite a few setbacks.
BMW is obviously an outsider, maybe challenge for a few wins if they get it right but to be consistently at the top you need more experience and a top driver, I rate their drivers but I doubt they're world championship material.
Alonso unlikely to challenge for the title in the Renault this year.
    So Raikkonen it is.
  • who do u tink is going to win the f1championship this year
my personal opinian is fernando alonso but it is your decision.
  • I really think it's between Massa and Raikkonen. I think Massa is well capable of outqualifying Raikkonen but Kimi is also quicker during the races so it's difficult to say but probably Kimi has a 75 percent chance.
  • I think its Kimi. Alonso can win, only if Renault is fast, and I don't think they are. Not now...

When testing without Traction Control started, Massa was having a hard time. Although now Massa is more better and does not fall off every lap, we should not forget that Kimi was already better to start with. So i think it shows that Kimi is just naturally more comfortable with the car that has no TC.

My wild guess would be Kimi

But that's just a guess. Testing times means nothing, as most team are testing different part and none of them are going as fast as the car can with all the new part put together.

    A real nascar redneck?

    May be...

  • Nice

Dose he do anymore NASCAR acts?
  • that is tooooooooo good, love it, thanks for the laugh
  • Bubby J!
That is rightly awesome! Thx for the laugh and hope you have a great time watching the race....btw think my tat is growing, lmao!
  • Jeff Dunham is awesome. I like the terrorist skit he does.
  • now this is what u call a real redneck fan i love this
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iMd8Pm-2...
  • So you ain't suppose to marry your cousin?
  • I just got my tickets to see Jeff at the end of the month. :)
  • That's freakin' funny dude. Thanks for the vid.
  • Yes that would be the true form of a Redneck!!!!!
  • Funny Video, thanks.
  • Where can i find...........??????????

    May be...

  • some good pictures of matt and katie kenseth kissing maybbe some that look kinda like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/sl54901/207...
  • Can you say GROSS? I only hope that you are a woman, because if your not, YIKES!!!! Only kidding!

I would search through FLICKR and search under key words; Kenseth, NASCAR, etc..
  • Never seen them kiss , you may want to try contacting their parents & ask to see wedding pics.
  • Ingrid has fake boobs in those pics, I don't think Katie Kenseth would go that far to please her man. Ingrid had to get those implants in hope of Jeff coming to her for "fun time" and not to Jimmie Johnson instead.

I doubt you will find any pics of the Kenseth's like that. Sorry.
  • Should Nascar of sat Busch & Stewart for the Daytona 500??

    May be...

  • They should have parked both of them for the Shootout! Just for ruining all of the other drivers cars. And what's this "Stewart didn't do anything" stuff? Have you seen any of the tapes? This is the third time, at least, and it takes two! Stewart hit Busch on the track and to make it worse, Busch hit Stewart on the pit road! It was just practice!! They should have parked both of them for the Shootout, for what they did on the track and pit road. It has nothing to do with the 500. I know it's racing, but no one takes up for the guys who really lost that had nothing to do with it!!!
  • No, not at all. This is Nascar not F1. They dont sip tea in Nascar. Let them race and sit back and enjoy it.
  • yes ..maybe it will come acroos these that action like that will not be toleratd,,this isnt the first time they had incidents///its one of many
  • not unless they sit stewart too.
  • Kurt yes, for his actions with his car.
Kurt should also have 200 points taken and a huge fine.

Tony, shouldn't be taken out of the race.
Docked 50 points for not kicking Kurt's Azz
    No fine.
  • Absolutely not! Stewart is one of the sport's most popular driver. This means that a lot of fans would be pretty ticked off with NASCAR. I don't like the idea of sitting a driver for a race (Robby Gordon is an exception because what he did was outrageous).
  • this has ben going on between these 2 for a while and maybe sitting them for this race might actually get a message acroos to them and the rest of the drivers
  • NO! Drivers use to do a heck of alot more to each other a few years ago. It's part of racing. There are too many rules as it is.
  • Looks like you have given everyone something to think about
There are two races in one year that pay good but are not a points race, if they would have to sat out the two races that wouldn't affect the owner points or championship points,
but It could make an owner think about whether he needs that in his stables or not.-
  • I say let them put on the Gloves and Finish it once and for all!!!!!
  • If Jimmie Johnson got to race in the 500 after getting caught cheating, there's no way that NASCAR should park two drivers for an altercation that happened in a non-points race that has absolutely nothing to do with the 500.

I'm not a Stewart fan and I'm no where close to being a Kurt Busch fan, but I don't believe parking them for the 500 would solve anything or even make a bit of sense.

If they were going to park either of them, it should've been for the Shoutout.
  • I don't think it would be fair to sit them out of the Great American Race. That would disappoint their fans greatly who may have bought tickets to see them race months ago. But I do think there will be another incident between the two before the year is over, and at that time, it's possible they may have to sit out a race or more. They just need to take NASCAR's advice and steer clear from one another.
  • you cant take them 2 drivers out of the 500!!!!!! let em fight thats the way racing needs to be old school now you got a bunch of punks
  • Stewart didnt do anything on the track, to deserve punishment.
Busch on the other hand did, and from the rumors, if he actually said the things being told, in the NASCAR hauler. Then he also deserved a punch in the mouth.
REPEAT, Stewart didnt do anything to deserve punishment! What happened on the track was A RACING INCIDENT, not intentional. What Kurt Busch did in retaliation was entirely intentional.

  • Why is Nascar holding back Ford Motor sports? Why won't they let them run the their best engine they have?

    May be...

  • They dominated in the 1960s and early 1970s let them take back what is rightfully theirs. With Carrol Shelby and Jack Roush in the stables again ,all the little boys who wear their bow-ties and play with their stuffed Ram animals and Toys will whine and cry once again!
  • Beth is right, the engine has to fit within NASCAR specs no matter who the manufacturer is. Neither Ford nor Dodge have submitted a new engine that fits within these specs, and are falling behind Chevy and Toyota.
  • It seems to me that since the Roush /Yates merger that where Roush has soared on the other hand Yates has bottomed out and its sad, because if it weren't for Yates Roush wouldn't be where they are .And this comes from the fan of a Roush driver.
  • Bill, Ernie and Dan Elliott... started the WHOLE, dog-gone-thing !!!

    Thanks ALOT...... YAW !!!!!
  • I dont know, it sucks!!! probably beacause the most poprular drivers run toyota's and Chevy's.. IF the popular drivers win, everybodys happy. For example, junior, jimmie, jeff, smoke...
  • Ford has an invitation from Nascar to submit a new engine that fits within the Nascar guidelines. Ford has submitted an engine that was turned down by Nascar as not meeting their guidelines. Chevrolet had the same problem, nascar turned down their first two designs for the R-07 before accepting the third design as meeting their guidelines.

Ford has the ball in their court as far as engine design goes. Part of fords problem is the teams have not tested the new car enough....that is where they are hurting more than in the engine difference.
  • I find it odd that NASCAR's suddenly holding back manufacturers as far as their engines are concerned. Apparently Toyota wanted to use the engine they use(d) in Craftsman Truck or a similar design of it but it wasn't allowed and they had to re-design it which was probably 1 of the reasons why they tanked last year.
I think NASCAR should allow them to run what they developed since the engines more or less is the only difference between a Ford, Chevy, Dodge & Toyota NASCAR Stock Car.
  • They are afraid FORD will DOMINATE!!! Thats why!!!

NASCAR wants their "pretty boys" to win........
  • Bud Shoot out -Daytona 500?

    May be...

  • 88 all the way 48 24 5 Joe Nemechek
  • 88 48 24 5 55
  • ok everybody i know 99.9% of you watched the Bud Shoot out and saw how strong Jr was now i know it was just a 70 lap race but i think come the Daytona 500 hes gonna be Very Strong maybe a win or top 3 who knows we might have a finish like this

    1st : Dale Jr 88

    2nd: Jeff Gordon 24

    3rd:Jimmie Johnson 48

    4th: Casey Mears 5

    5th: Tony Stewart 20
  • If it does finish that way, just think of all the media coverage about Hendrick dominance. It would be crazy! I am hoping for 24 on top, with all the Hendrick boys next, plus Nemacheck (sp), 5th. 5 hendrick motors top 5.
  • 24,48,88,5,17
  • I like the way the CoT worked at the Shootout. It looks like the old slingshot maneuver is back in fashion.
It should be a good 500. It won't be the chess match we saw at Talledega last year, because the teams and drivers have had more time to test and get experience in the new car. This should be a blast.

I wouldn't be unhappy to see Jr win, but because I am biased, my heart says:
    1st Tony Stewart 20
    2nd Denny Hamlin 11
    3rd Dale Jr 88
    4th Jeff Gordon 24
    5th Dave Blaney 22
  • I Want Jeff Gordon To Win The Daytona 500.
  • Take out Casey Mears and put in Micheal Waltrip. I think he is going to be the surprise of the season.
  • I agree that the finishing spots 1-5 could very well end up like that!!!!!
  • I would be pumped if that was the finish. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Dave Blaney or Jamie Mcmurray was 5th instead.
  • You overlooked Nemechek and Blaney.
  • 11.2.08

Why is Ford even in Nascar racing?

    May be...

  • nascar will live and die with the bow tie
  • I like punch buggies with rear wings and front spoilers. Cooool! Herbie was a heck of a ride.
  • There is a natural cycle in NASCAR. It wasn't too many years ago that the bow tie boys were complaining that that half of the Chase spots were filled by engines from the rather small Yates/Roush motorshops. From what I've read, Nascar decided to not let Ford have a new engine package until the other teams caught up. Sadly, the lack of recent results may have as much to do with lack of team funding (Roush becomes Roush-Fenway... Yates looses most sponsors) I'm not sure if either of these teams would have been any more competitive in GM, Dodge, or Toyota... they are just too strapped for cash.

Likewise, I think if Gibbs had to gone to Ford instead of Toyota, he may have kept the blue ovals from getting smaller in the rear view mirror of the Hendricks cars. That having been said, who would choose to run Fords in 08?
  • Hendrick could decide to be a Ford team and then Ford would be the best in nascar. whatever hendrick decides works, works. he can get nascar to do anything for him
  • Single car speeds at Daytona do not mean a whole lot. Harvick qualified 29th last year and won. If you look at drafting speeds from testing, the top ten looked like this:

    Kahne

    Ky Busch

    Hamlin

    Franchitti

    Smith

    Newman

    Kenseth

    Hornish

    Labonte

    Stewart

For the record, that is 1 Chevy, 1 Ford, 3 Toyotas, and 5 Dodges. Then, look at how many of each manufacturer run: 19 Chevys, 14 Dodges, 11 Toyotas and 9 Ford. The odds are agaist Ford.

So, in summary, Chevy and Toyota dominated qualifying for two reasons: Chevy had the volume and Toyota had to make sacrifices for qualifying to simply make it into the show. Wait until race day and there will be a better mix of manufacturers. Both Sorenson and Gilliland ran well in their Dodge and Ford cars last night in the shootout.

As to last year, Roush admits how far behind he was in the COT. For 2008: Ford has an outdated engine compared to the other three. As to Dodge, GEM screwed up and admitted it last year. GEM and Penske should run well this year.
  • There's always a sucker that needs a ride.
  • If VW ends up in NASCAR I will have to turn in my hat and walk home looking at the ground, defected and regected, is that enough, or do you want me to go on?

    John
  • Ya I know man. I wouldnt say Why is Ford in Nascar because we need the damn American cars in there. You know thats what it it...Thats why we dont want foreign cars in racing. We want American cars so we can have pride in our country. I cant stand Toyota being in Nascar trying to dominate our manufactorers. This is bs!
  • Ford, if you listened this weekend does not have the horses that the Chevys do...if you cannot get the engine package okayed from nascar then how can you really compete? Ford has tried repeatedly to get the okay for a new engine package for years and has been refused by the powers that be, but Chevy comes up with the RO7 and is okayed, who is at fault there??? nascar!
  • The season still hasn't really even started yet. Don't be too quick to judge as of yet.
  • Early gunner trying to shoot down the Fords?
  • I'd be ashame if I couldn't make my cars run better and get better drivers & teams. I'd quit racing before I'd show the world that my cars suck on national TV.looks like Toyota is bumping GM as the top dog on the track. It also looks like Dodge and Ford are the new wooping boys.I'd like to see Ford and Dodge spend some serious money and build some race teams that Americans can be proud of.Who's coming next to race with us, VW ?
  • Millions and Millions of Dollars for the Ford Corporation!!!!!!
  • good question Ford sucks
  • So little boys like you will cry every time a Ford wins.
  • With only Roush and Yates carrying the blue oval, Ford definitely has a huge uphill struggle to stay competitive. I don't believe they can. Ford doesn't have the budget or resources to go head to head with Toyota. I wonder if Ford will hang tough and stay in Cup racing or not. That story could get interesting. If Mark Martin spent his career in a Chevy, I believe he'd be a 4 time champ with about 100 wins.
  • Dale jr jacket?

    May be...

  • Got a few of his Busch Championship jackets.

Sorry not for sale and even if they was, I wouldn't sale them under $100 by no means being in prestine condition.
  • 69.99 at Walmart if you can find one in stock--Winners Circle Apperal Brand!!!!!
  • They are right over 100 bucks, but NASCAR.com's Superstore have them for 105 bucks plus shipping... I also saw some Amp jackets at Walmart last week, but I didnt see the price... You will get what you pay for, though...
  • You wont find it for under 100.
  • have an old jacket. Where can I find the 88 jacket for under 100 dollars?
  • How is the field set for the Daytona 500?

    May be...

  • It is set by that. Anyone in the top 35 before is locked in. The three fastest people in qualifying who were not in the top 35 are locked.
  • Field wont be set till Thursday night. Watch the Gatorade Dual 150's. on the 14th. that is the qualifying race.
  • This is the best way to set a race. It reminds me of the weekend warriors at the dirt tracks. Qualifying is ran to set the first two positions. Then on Thursday, NASCAR runs two Gatorade duels, which are equivelant to heat races at local dirt tracks. These two races set the rest of the field. Best way to set a race is this. Every race car driver gets reminded of where and how they started with heat races and last chance races!
  • It's a real pain.

    Check Jayski.com
  • Qualifying is unique at Daytona for the 500. Some teams must race their way into the Daytona 500 field. However, since 2005, all exempt teams (the top 35 teams of the previous year in owner points) are guaranteed a spot in the Daytona 500. The first row is set by one round of qualifying, normally held one week before the race. (Prior to 2003, this was two rounds; prior to 2001, it was three.) The remainder of the field is set by a pair of qualifying races (these were 100 miles from 1959-1967; 125 miles from 1969-2004; and 150 miles, with two-lap overtime if necessary, beginning in 2005. These races were not held in 1968 because of rain). The top two drivers from the qualifying races that are not in the top 35 in owner points are given spots on the field, and the rest is set by the finishing order of the duels, with guaranteed spots to those in the top 35. The remaining spots, 40 to 43 are filled by top qualifying times of those not already in the field from the qualifying race. If there is a previous NASCAR Champion without a spot, he will get one of those four spots, otherwise, the fourth fastest car is added to the field.

Prior to 2005, after the top two cars were set, the top 14 cars in the qualifying races advanced to the field, and then between six (1998-2003), eight (1995-97, 2004), or ten (until 1994) fastest cars which did not advance from the qualifying race were added, and, since the mid-1980s, between two and seven cars were added by previous year's points performance and or championship.
  • I know the Pole and 2nd fastest driver are set, buty what about the rest of the field....Is it determined by the races on Thursday?
  • The field will be set by the 2 Duels which are qualifying races to get the Daytona 500 starting field!!!!
  • How long is tha adlanto gp?

    May be...

  • in hours or mile per lap or laps. laps=339, hours=3.652, miles per lap=1.211
  • I'm pretty sure ur messing up anothr sport w/F1 'cause there is no adlanto gp

  • i have been in a lemo and it was the best thing ever i could not even belive it the tv and wine glasses on the side i loved it but i see it all the time now my uncle owns one.

  • Who would like to see turbocharged F1 engines make a comeback ?

    May be...

  • who wouldnt?!!? that wood be awesome. I LOVE F1.
  • NO TURBOCHARGING

personally, i think naturally aspirated is better and turbocharging is a cheap way of better performance. Anyone can stick a turbocharger in a car, but do they have the brains to make the car better without one?
  • I know I would ! The phenomenal power output of the Hondas, TAG Porsches and BMWs of the 80s still amazes me even today. I can`t envisage where they would have been development wise had they continued with them.
  • I concur, NASCAR just doesn't compare.
  • No, I wouldn't.

Overpowered engines are lame. It makes it into some crap, like nascar (Please don't negative me for that).

F1 is impressive how it is...Why would you want more powerful engines? It requires more breaking, earlier, and aggg...Not as impressive as dealing with the less power.

They would not have developed at much if they could just throw more junk on the car, no problem, since their engine then was more powerful.

But it's good you like f1.
  • Not me. They've had their time!

I am more than happy with the direction the regulations are now going...

More driver skill required, and a more-even 'playing ground' for everyone with possible capped budgets!

    Bring it on!!!
  • How come this is?

    May be...

  • Because it happened.
  • quailifying by yourself on the track and drafting with a pack are 2 different things the hendricks teams will be up front when it counts like last night the #24 and #48 lost the lead pack during the first 20 laps and they were there at the end
  • Cars react differently in traffic as opposed to on the racetrack alone for qualifying. Seeing as they have to use the same car and same engine for the race, the car is tuned more for race conditions. Drivers who have to qualify in or go home are more likely to set up the car for a qualifying run.
  • Go back to NHRA, lol.

    It's called sandbagging.
  • they are locked in it doesn't matter to them where they qualify so they only focused on race trim not their qualifying set up.
  • Sandbagging. You don't show eveything you got. You save it for the race (the last lap) You also have to take it easy on the engines because they have to last 500 miles.

  • they picked random qualifying spots from a bottle
  • Qualifying isn't winning. Wait til after the 500 to gloat. Didn't you see Junior flying last nighr? wait til race time. How many times did Sr get written off for starting at the back, only to come out of nowhere to win?? This apple didn't fall far from the tree!!!
  • Qualifying not done yet and Villeneuve is behind Jr. Plus Newman still has to qualify.
  • hot shot earhardt jr only qualified 9th and jeff gordon not much better how come they aint 1 & 2 GO VILLENEUVE
  • Doesnt Matter in a Restrictor Plate Race Just like the Shootout Jr. won and Gordon started 22nd and led laps and came in 4th!!!!!
  • It is because other drivers are faster than them. In NASCAR, you have one chance to show your fastest speed for the pole. If you don't, forget it though those drivers will be in the race no matter what due to the Top 35 rule which states that the top 35 drivers in owners points from last season get the automatic spot for the 500.

Regardless, in Daytona 500 qualifying, only the front row is qualified for the race. For the most part, they are the polesitters for the Twin-150 races on Thursday. Those races will transfer the top 14 plus the race polesitter into the 500. If any driver must qualify on time, the top two of the "Go or go Home" drivers in that race regardless of overall position, will automatically qualify. There are four of these positions total, but as far as Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr. are concerned, both of them could start up toward the front anyway because the winner of each race gets a spot in the second row. As for the final four spots, among the "Go or go Home" crowd, they revert to the qualifying times if they aren't fast enough in the races.
  • What do you think the odds are IRL and Champ will fold?

    May be...

  • Been the opinion of most since they split
  • Champ car will either fold or be bought out by the IRL within 2 years.

The IRL will hang around although its not going to get any bigger than it is now.
  • They will have to merge. Champcar is dying a slow death, but does have many good racetracks that the IRL needs. The split will end within 2 years
  • They have to merge, then open wheel will be back, it will make for some great open wheel racing.
  • The IRL is fairly healthy, but not fantastic. Champcar could recover from its current slump with better decisions from the people in control. Odds are they will merge within two years, most likely by 2009 if not sooner. Sad part is that many of the IRL races are so much better than Cup series races but noone knows about them.
  • I say about 50% in the next five years.
  • What is a good nick name for Jr I heard an announcer call him the dominator today that does not fit help come?

    May be...

  • why doesn't it fit ! his dad was the intimadator, why not dominator !
  • I believe DW gave him the name Junebug and although that's what I affectionatley call him it hardley seems fiercesome doesn't it! LOL

I like the Dominator, it says "move outta the way cuz here I come" Yeah baby!!
  • up with one that fits him and his style
  • The Inheritor.
  • Dominator? That could only go to to one of 2 drivers, Jimmie (2 titles in a row) or Gordon (all time record 30 top 10s last year. Jr. nickname, one that would fit him is Capt. Mediocrity.
  • dalethe dirty engine man
  • hard to be a dominator when you havent won a signifigant race in so long. whats wrong with junior?
  • How about pasty face dorkadator..................
  • I like the one I think his dad gave him. June-bug. That's hard because he's so intuitive and talented as a driver.
  • they called him the dominator when he won his 2 busch championships but it hasn't really stuck....for reasons obvious.

how about the eliminator? as in, eliminate the naysayers with a Cup championship
  • Does Dale Jr. finally have a good chance of winning a championsip?

    May be...

  • If he can't win a championship with his current team, it's doubtful he ever will. Now he has to beat two of his teammates in the same equipment to accomplish this.
  • I would bet he is a contender now that he is happy, and don't have the weight of the world on him. And he now has some of the fastest and best equipment there is
  • I think he has an excellent chance
  • if you can win in wrecked cars
  • never has anyones career been in the hands of his teammates as jr's is now. If they can keep it together, I dont see why rick cant pick who he wants the championship to go to. I see 48 three in a row , 88 1st title, and then 24 to 7 titles. Unless it all blows up and 24/48 side move to new team w/everham/knauss
  • I'm not going to make any predictions based on last nights race, but I say he has a good shot at it, he should make the chase and win some races, and if he wins the championship, hey that's totally awesome. He has the equipment and determination to do it.

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008
  • I believe he has a better chance now than the past 3 years. Hendrick is responsible for the motors and all he has to do is drive the car and stay out of trouble. He'll definately make the top 10 this year without a doubt..
  • After the whirlwind drama surrounding Jr. for the past year, he is finally racing.

After last nights dominating performance in the Budweiser Shootout, I would now like to know how many people think he has a seriously good chance of winning a championship.

I'm not asking if you like him, or what your opinion of him is, just whether or not you think he will seriously contend for the championship this year.
  • Yes he has a very good chance of winning it. But you could probally put Mickey Mouse in a Hendrick car and he would win it.
  • Godsmack you said it go Jr shut the haters up.
  • I know I can't bet the house just because he won the Bud Shootout, but I know he'll race his heart out just like he did for DEI only this time he has the equipment to get the job done. He looked so happy last night, like the weight of the world is lifted off his shoulders.

Jr wins when he can just get on that track and race and I believe not having to worry about his car dying on him was a great relief. He's got the best shot in the world at that championship, whether it's this year or not he will get his Championship win with HMS!!!
  • He'll have the best chance since 2004 to win. Hell be in the chase, KyBusch wont, Newman wont, and Hamlin wont.
  • Absolutely
  • its the best shot he will ever get, and he knows it!
  • I think with the resources he has right now-he has an excellent chance of contending this year. If he races the way he always does-he has nothing to worry about cuz now he has the car to do it with.
  • Nope. He won a race that doesn't count. OMG, lets all get excited over that! He may make the chase, but he won't be a factor for winning it all.
  • he has always had the ability to win a championship and the will power and hunger i believe he now has the equipment and the support staff and yes i believe he will contend for the championship

i was a doubter about taking tony jr to hendricks with him i guess thats why rick hendricks is a championship owner he knows more than me

but i have always been and continue to be a die hard #24 fan good luck to jr.
  • Stewart fan here, but I'll say he's definitely got an excellent chance of being in the Top Ten. He *looks* and *sounds* like a winner. He doesn't have to worry about Teresa's antics or what he's going to do with his future. He's got all that Hendrick money and garage talent behind him. All he's got to think about now is racing!
  • Yes he has the car to get win's and get top 10's. I think he will get one within 3 years.
  • I think he does ! he has finialy got away from step mom ! the (b) and now with hendrix . he will do alot more this year !!!
  • A good chance? Please, he's got a great chance. I'd give him 90% of the chance to win after that run at the Shootout. Then again the Shootout is only 70 laps, and he does always say he's good on short runs but not great on long runs...come to think of it, he didn't hold that lead all THAT great...whatever, Jr. RULES!
  • That is the belief yes. But I wouldn't base just the Bud Shootout performance as it. Remember that was a short race and RP races are his specialty. Lets see where he is by Infinion, where I believe we should have seen the various types of race track that NASCAR uses then we can better judge
  • No, he still has the same driving ability, which is not as much as ALL other HMS drivers.
  • unfortunately Jimmie and Jeff come first, and they better watch out from them Toyotas!
  • Isn't it obvious that Jr. ALREADY benefited from the great equipment at HMS?

    May be...

  • Goes to show you what great equipment and great people can do for you, yes its obvious, and a great race last night..

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008
  • Probably give him the okay for nitro...
  • Junior is a great driver he justed needed good equipment.
  • I'm pretty sure I could win a race in an HMS car. Hendrick builds the best cars on the track.

If Jr. doesn't make the Chase, NASCAR will still keep the Chase, but it will be only down to 2 cars, Jr and Kyle Petty. If for some bizarrely odd reason Jr still can't win, they'll just abandon the whole season and just award the championship to Jr.
  • No wins for such a long long time and the first race in a HMS car, he wins. This is all HMS horsepower/car. What changes do you think NASCAR will make to the Chase after Jr. does not make it......AGAIN?
  • There is only so much a driver can do in NASCAR, the equipment you have to deal with has a huge part in how you perform and it's finally nice to see just how much DEI was holding Jr.'s potential back.

He's truly a great race car driver and at Hendrick, nobody can deny it.
  • I don't understand what your complaining about exactly, he now has the same perks that Jeff and Jimmie has had for their entire Cup careers.
  • yeah.. he ran a race and did not blow up.. even if it was a short race.. when was the last time you seen a HMS engine blow up.. Hell jeff gorgon ran one last year 75 laps with no water in it .. steam flew for a while then it stoped cause of the lack of water to make steam.. yet he stll won the race.. now that's a good Engine... i see all of HMS teams have good years ..all of them will see victory lane this year.. yeah i said ALL...
  • Lol.. He didn't do anything more or less then he did at DEI. Talk to us 20 weeks from now. People are a trip today.

He ran like 50 green laps only. Geez..
  • "it's a bittersweet symphony"
  • Jr definitely now has one of better cars. DEI was resting on it laurels
  • Yes is quite obvious, Jr. or DEI never had a history of any success at Daytona.
  • although i'm a die hard gordon fan maybe hendricks benefited from jr's driving
  • Yes........ i think Jr will have a great year at HMS. At the least better than the last two seasons and he will at the least probably make the chase . It just seems funny that Jr had all those blown engines at DEI last year - 5 dnf?? (and most of those races he was running at or near the top 10) I think Jr was getting sub-standard equipment last year as part of DEI's push to get rid of him where Teresa could run DEI motorsports. Not to take anything away from Truex who is a good driver - but you did'nt see Truex have all that engine trouble that Jr had.
  • Yes it is quite Obvious!!!!!!!
  • If i was tailgateing at daytona?

    May be...

  • beans a franks or steaks on the grill, I like them both! chips and beer a must! a few bakers are great, but then the wife doesn't like to smell the butter cooking, so maybe some great hamburgers or angus bugers, I'm hungry, now I'll be back!

    Johnny
  • what would i eat for supper need to know what i should bring
  • LMAO T bone!! Well there goes my answer!
  • An ice chest or two of cold brew!
  • Do it Florida style. Gator tail, cuban sandwiches and BBQ. Don't eat Brats though. That crap will send you to the toilet and you don't want to visit a toilet at Daytona.
  • 10.2.08

Did Teresa just have a stroke?

    May be...

  • I hope so. She should never have screwed Dale like she did while he was with DEI. Dale's Dad started it and he should've been a top part of it!
  • There is always hope!
  • That's how Jr. does it, instead of talking crap.
  • One can always hope!!

    Congrats. to Dale Jr.!
  • I've heard of sore loser's, but sore winner's.
  • Yes.
  • You know she did! lol I bet he does great this year. Go Jr and show Teresa you can do it!!!
  • F*ck Teresa
  • I hope so....Way to Go Dale Jr CONGRATS.....
  • I hope she is crying!
  • Teresa and Bud are probably in an emergancy meeting wondering what big mistake they made. Im sure Teresas hanging his pictures and trophies up at DEI Monday morning.
  • Jr. Wins....?

    May be...

  • I'm not surprised, but I am definitely thrilled!!!
  • Jimmie Johnson gave him the push to get by Stewart & congratulate him in victory lane

I was skeptical about JR coming to Hendrick, but it looks like it just might work out.I hope it does

I tip my hat to him he was the better driver on this night, if he & Mears run like they did tonight Hendrick will be untouchable

    Johnson fan
  • he will never amount to anything
  • I suppose your going to complain when Toyota wins too. Hendrick Motorsports deserves to win. Jimmie and Jeff came from last place to support their new team mate to victory. I'm ready for the long season.
  • I'm glad he won...he's a great driver..hopefully he does the same at daytona 500!!
  • Now I am glad he is back up front. He finally has the equipment DEI couldn't or wouldn't give him....BUT....It is going to be a very long season if Hendrick is always up front. It will be very bad for NASCAR. What do you think.
  • Hendrick has a good team. I am glad Jr is on the team and can show he is a good driver. DEI was holding him back!!! Jr #1!!!
  • It mite be bad! But great for JR. Fans!
  • I can't believe Truex crashed!! I rooted for Mark Martin after that wreck!!!
  • Good to finally show people just how much DEI was holding his potential back.

He's one of the best race car drivers out there.
  • What do yall think about that dale jr 88?

    May be...

  • Ah, he's a'right...lol !!

Big time Junior fan & I like Smoke too. Have a great day, glad ya enjoyed my answer. :~) Report It
  • Just to hear him laugh again was awesome!! Then Smoke giving him kudos...now that's racin! The best part....this is only the beginning. 88 in 08 BABY!!!!

    Junior Nation Rocks!!!
  • whoopedey freakin doo........he won the bud shootout as he has done before. its not a big deal, and he won't be an influence this year. he's always done well at restrictor plate races.

i think people forget, he won the bud shootout when employed by DEI, so whats the difference

yeah, try to report me.........I AM INVINCIBLE!!!!!!!

can't handle the truth........hahahaha you female dogs
  • I can't believe Truex crashed!!!
  • jr sucks go gordon gordon more wins then sr yep jr is so much better what jon you couldnt handle the trueth thats why you had my answer removed what a troll
  • lol im a gordon fan and i agree that gordon rocks. but its that hendrick power which made him win. he's a teammate now so let's hope he does good. and henry is dumb. four championships. stupid redneck
  • I think he is great. Way to go Jr!!!!
  • I WILL SUM IT UP IN TWO WORDS.WHO CARES!!!!!!!

JR. IS THE MOST OVERRATED DRIVER THERE HAS EVER BEN!!!!!!!!!
  • now i won't have anymore nightmares of jr never winning another race, seriously.
  • SDJ has right.

I can finally have a full sleep.

He's gone from that dreadful place into the soulmate of a place where he can win. Hendrick

    All I can say is
  • i always said once jr gets away from DEI he will win wtg jr
  • What a damn race..I would have to say this COT has came a ways. The way they were racing in a pack was awesome. I loved the race....Im a Tony fan but when JR won I got a smile especially seeing him smile. I guess im a JR fan too. All I can say is WOW! wait wait...WOAHHHH!!!!!!!
  • He's way better than gay crybaby Gordon could ever dream of.
  • JR is BACK!!!
  • Go Hendrick 88 24 48 5
  • What a great race!! I can hardly wait for Thursday.
  • Junior just led the most ever laps in a Bud Shootout
  • I can finally sleep!
  • Dale Jr is good at RP tracks. Anyone can win an RP race with a good car so this DOES NOT mean Jr. will have a great season.

But if he continues this 10 races from now, I stand proven wrong.
  • Anyone else think that Jr.'s win is irrelevent?

    May be...

  • Congrats to Junior and his team,And yes this is a non points race and it is just bragging rights.

For the past week all I've heard id Junior this and Junior that.I heard the predition last week was "Juniors" race to Lose.Well Junior won and thats good but wait til Quailifing then the 500 before everyone flips over Juniors Wion.
  • Anyone else think your opinion is irrelevant? This race is a small example of what is up and coming in the season and I am so psyched! What a great race these cars and drivers gave us tonight. I think the car of today is going to make for a very exciting Daytona 500. I cannot wait to watch qualifying !!!!!!!!!!

Hey LOLLIPOP, nobody cares about your negativity so just go and suck something, why don't ya?
  • jr was just given the fans a slice of the success that is about to come. Sure it was the bud shootout but come on..a wins a win...and the pressure was on and he proved he could do it. I'm glad Jr. finally got back in Victory Lane! Congrats Jr.
  • You can say that but most people know that it's significant.

If you like Dale it's awesome, but if you don't then just say it's not a point race just to make you feel better.

It's still a race and he still won it so get over it!
  • WHO cares, yes there is no points, its a race and it was his first race at HMS, this is just the beginning of a great yr..All of Dale Jr fans who have stood by him during all the bad times, and to the fans who left him because he is a team mate of Jeff Gordon...Dale Jr won tonight, yes Jimmie Johnson gave him a great push, thank you Jimmie, but this is a great start to 2008...Yes this was a fun way to start..I'm so happy I can't stand it, I'm exhausted I cried and cheered at the same time, there was a lot of money there, it was so great to see Rick Hendrick go up and congratulate him just like Jeff, Jimmie and Casey..HMS is about great people and great people win races..Congrats Dale Jr & Hms...I'm ready for the Daytona 500 NOW...

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008
  • That was the stupidest question ever. You obviously don't like Jr. He won a race, a win is a win, and of course it's relavent. He was able to work the line he needed to win, and he had to pass and keep from getting passed by some of the best drivers in the world. And he wasn't in his best car, so just imagine what he can do with his 500 car. If he can whoop up on the field in pretty much a back up car his primary cars this season are going to be amazing. you are right, you're a moron. That's how plate racing works, you get help from team mates. This must have been the first race you've ever watched. You really should just shut up before you make yourself look even worse than you already do.
  • You don't see his win in the Shoot out as an indicator of what will come this season. Obviously you don't like Junior. This is something he and all his fans have been waiting for. It's definitely a sign of what's gonna happen this year. He has exactly what he wanted at DEI but didn't get. Be prepared for the 88 in 08!!
  • Oooh man, you're brave to ask such a question with all the Jr. fans in this section...but I have to agree. It's just an exhibition race. When they start the Daytona 500, the Bud Shootout means squat. I'll give him props when he wins a REAL race.
  • I don't know Michael 215,000 dollars don't sound bad

for his first job at HMS.
  • he has talent if you like it or not, just cant stand the facts that he won, all the drivers have a good or bad season but that does not make him bad drivers, we all have our favored but we dont put your favored down this is for the once who dont like jr and i get a litle confused with peoble here, i dont know why they change there name are they worried about something would be nice to keep you in my contact list. have a nice day.
  • And I guess Stewart just backed off and let him have it to make him feel better? Maybe the Toyota couldn't pull around the extra poundage the driver was carrying.
  • I think it is awesome that Dale Jr. won the bud shootout. It goes to show you that he is on a better team. He admitted that if it wasn't for Jimmie Johnson pushing him into the lead, he never would have won. You never saw that last year because he only had Truex to depend on. Now he has Johnson, Gordon and Mears. It definately shows what is to come from Jr. WAY TO SHOW THEM JR.
  • is the fact that he led the most laps ever in a Bud Shootout indicitive to anything or do you just have hurt feelings over this victory
  • it was a definite

    DO-OVER.
  • True, but considering how everyone was painting this bleek picture that apparently Jr's career was over, I don't mind enjoying the moment for what it is.
  • I understand your stand on this but its dale earnhardt jr. Who the hell wouldn't want to watch him race. He is one of the best drivers on the race of the earth, would bring joy to many Junior fans who wnat to see him win finally after so many problems at DEI. By winning, it shows what to probably expect in 08', more wins and a lot of racing.
  • I wish that Jeff burton wouldve one but retard jr had to be 1st
  • You seem worried. How many victories makes it relevant to YOU? I love it. I'm still laughing at the bashers in denial. But, bu,t but, whyyyyynnee....lol
  • Too bad it's a non-points race. At least he got his one win for the year out of the way before regular season, so the record books will still be able to put a "0" in the win column at season's end!
  • Hihey9989 is Clint L and several others (look at their avatars) and are always hatin' on Jr. and voting for themselves and giving the appropriate number of thumbs down.

    GET A LIFE! WHINER!
  • I'm not a CHEVY Fan,or a fan of Jrs.....

But as a TRUE fan of Nascar? It was cool to see Jr. in victory

    lane again ! It's been awhile !!!!!

But the fact that he drives for Rick & Gordie Boy.... Kind of took something away, from the win ?? for me anyhow !!

It still seems a little strange, the win not going to DEI.....
  • Yes...it's just the Bud Shootout, no points. But, to me and to a lot of the Junior Nation, it's a testiment that if you give Junior a good car, he can drive the heck out of it, and win. And, it was just awesome to see him in victory lane again. And no doubt, we will see him there many more times this year. That's all I want.
  • Wow, you really are in denial. What would you be saying if he came in last?
  • THANK YOU!! Finally! Some common sense! A star for you :D
  • It's the bud shootout, most of the drivers don't care in the end, because thyere already locked into the daytona 500. so jr won a restrictor plate race, which he's already been proven to be good at, and it was a short race. he's won that race before. I just don't see how his win here was indicative of anything this season will offer.

im just glad that a new season has begun, and this was a fun way to kick it off
  • No win is irrelevant.Ever.

I DON'T think you could have won with that help. I couldn't have either.

It set the tone for what's to come.

REPORTS OF JUNIOR'S DEMISE ARE GREATLY EXAGGERATED.
  • Now that is pretty funny....he only won because his team mates helped him? Hmmmmmm.......so who helped him lead 47 laps? The most laps ever lead in the history of the Bud shootout? Oh, that's right JUNIOR did.

Jimmie wasn't going to win so why not give Junior a push? That is what team work at it's finest looks like, that is why HMS is the top notch team they are.
  • That race has nothing to do with the 500 to begin with. You should probably know some about the sport before you speak.

As bad as NA$CAR has become infested with all the newbie no it all's and the Brian France it's mine and I'll screw it up if I want to attitude any win there is still an awesome feat. WTG Jr!!!!!!!

I don't look for him to do good today cause in generally speaking he isn't a good qualifier but next Sunday is when the money will go down on the man's son.
  • No! Just you, and very few others.

From what you just posted, tells us that u know very little.

By the way if it's irrelevent, why did you watch it?
  • Is there already too much hype coming Dale Jr's shootout win?

    May be...

  • I think it's great. People love him and people love to hate him .

    Just like Muhammad Alli.

He could draw more people to a fight to hope he would lose than to win.
  • Hippie is right. As a fan I have waited to see my guy back in victory lane. I am beyond excited. And you're wrong. Not everybody can win at RP race tracks. Yes, there a lot of hype...but don't discredit his ability to win....he has done it before...many times.
  • I gotta agree with Hihey998. I think it looks good for Jr. winning the Shootout. It's also a race that doesn't really count. He wouldn't have won it if it wasn't for Johnson given him the bump to pass Stewart. The jury is still out on my side as to Jr, and time will tell. You wanna talk about driving ability, look what Gordon and Johnson did with what they had to race with tonight.
  • Not hype really. Just a lot of excitement to see racing again, excitement to see a good race, and the excitement one should expect when NASCAR's most popular driver wins.

Whether you like it or not, he is far and away NASCAR's most popular.

Hes not even my favorite, but I give him props.
  • Quit hating on Jr.

    He is the man.
  • Dayyam straight there is too much hype, this is a non points sprint.People are ready to give him the championship and the season has not started.Let the first 1/3 of the season get run then let's make predictions.
  • no he is awesome
  • NO, perfect...hahahahahahaha!

It aint hype, he's the man!
  • No, not at all. We want the hype to last for a few days.
  • I think Jr's shootout win proves a lot. What other driver can say they switched teams and won the first race they drove in. It may have been a shorter race, but it is still a race. This win doesn't mean he is going to have a great season, but it doesn't mean he won't either. If you look at his racing last year though, he would have had a great year if it wasn't for the gremlins in the engine. He led many races and even was leading at a road course which I thought he was sick. I really think he is fitting in very well with Hendrick and you hardly ever hear anyone talking bad about Jr's driving unlike many others.

If anyone can win a Restrictor Plate race with a good car, then why don't they? Gordon, Johnson, Stewart all had good cars and Jr came out on top. The theorists would say that they did it out of pitty for Jr, but Johnson, Gordon and Stewart all have respect for Jr and his racing. That is more than anyone can say about other racers.
  • dude he won
  • No he pulled off a awesome win and it is ok there is hype.it is awesome to see JR. running like he did tonight and i look for him to do it almost every week.Hendrick motorsports is the real deal and they are going to dominate 2008 and dale jr will win is fair share this year!!!!!!!!
  • Will you also publicly announce that you will stop being annoying as well? It's fine to have a different opinion, just stop being so condescending about it. Report It
  • This win doesn't mean a lot. He has always been good at plate races so I expected him to do well.

"Anyone can win an RP race with a good car" is greatly exaggerated. There were at least 15 good cars out there tonight and 14 of them didn't win. Jr was the best tonite.

I agree it will take 10 races or so to make a judgement. I look forward to speaking with you again after 10 races.
  • NO WAY!!!!! He is finally getting the equipment that works to show his real talent. Plus, he has Hendricks behind him... He can win now.
  • no why will be your question be deletet i wont do it, you have your say so just like anybody else and of cause everbody is hyped up because we all could not wait for nascar to start,.
  • get ready to amit your wrong! I have been a gordon fan since he started in nascar, but you have to amit look how long its been since his last win at DEI and then his first race with HMS and he wins right off the bat. No there are not alot of drivers that can win a rp race. look at the winners of a rp race more that have won it have won more then one race. It takes a very talented driver to know what line to take when those last 5 lap come up. MARK MY WORDS, YOU WILL BE EATING YOU WORDS IN 10 RACES!!!!!
  • I see what you did there. You know what the real funny part about this is, a couple days ago, the haters weren't even giving Jr THAT much credit.

P.S. Your right though, it doesn't spell out a whole season. But if and when he does win in the near future, next time please, take it like a man.
  • Too bad it's a non-points race. At least he got his one win for the year out of the way before regular season, so the record books will still be able to put a "0" in the win column at season's end!
  • no, you can't blame the fans. its been a long time since their driver have taken the checked flag in 1st.
  • Dale Jr is good at RP tracks. Anyone can win an RP race with a good car so this DOES NOT mean Jr. will have a great season. I think there is way too much hype going on. NOBODY has been proven wrong or right, so you can't gloat!

10 races from now we'll see...

Just watch my question get deleted like every other freakin question I ask...
  • I thought Junior looked pretty good for an "average" driver in the 3rd or 4th best car in the Hendrick stable.

Yep, Junior is good in restrictor plate races, but he also has wins at Texas, Richmond (3), Bristol, Dover, Atlanta, Phoenix(2) and Chicago.

That's on the two fastest (Texas/Atlanta), two of the smaller, but fastest of the small, a flat track, the "Monster" and Chicago ain't no picnic with that little kink on the back.

That demonstrates that more of his 17 wins to date are on something other than restricted SS's.

Also, I believe there have been a lot of good racers in good equipment that will dispute your assertion that "anybody" can win a plate race.
  • Heck yeah i think it is...it's not even a points race and the season is just starting. But the media blows things out of proportion any way, so you kno that will b headlines tommorrow.
  • too much hype

and yeah, it will get deleted, apparantly all jr hating questions get deleted, and any question stating the truth get deleted

    yahoo = facists
  • This is setting the table for a new team...the learning curve is great when switching teams and everything that has to go with it. Though he was driving like Jr.; loving that high groove.
  • -Dudes, it's a non-points race, let's see where he's at 10 races into actual points season.

-I think he'll benefit learning from Gordon & Johnson, that's why he went to Hendrick, to win.
  • Cry baby
  • No there is not too much hype coming from Dale Jr's shoot out win.Everyone loves Dale Jr' and their all glad to see him win now that he is racing for HMS.I wish they would interview Teresa and ask her opinion about how she feels about Dale's win now that he left DEI. OOPS I forgot she probably isn't at the track because she IS THE ABSENTEE OWNER OF DEI. Eat your heart out Step Mom !!!!!!!!!
  • no hype, just skill...great driver+great team= greater success
  • -Will Dale Jr. ever race in the Indianapolis 500? I've read that's something he would like to do.Imagine that?

    May be...

  • As long as he is in NASCAR, he won't be able to. The Coca-cola 600 is on the same weekend, and that is one of the races that drivers never want to miss. Back in the day, it was possible to run both races, and it has been done by Andretti, Robby Gordon, and Stewart. But now the race starts earlier, and drivers can't fit both races into the day. Plus, all the IRL cars run Honda engines now, and Jr has a contract with Chevy.

Maybe when he retires from NASCAR.
  • well im sure he can do whatever he wants. so if he wants to he will
  • Never read that one, but he is very interested in the V8 Supercar series in Austrailia. badgley, the fire in question was not in the 24 Hrs at Daytona, but an ALS race in Sonoma. And yes Jr went to Austrailia to see the Bathurst 1000 in the V8 Supercar series. And it's not like Jr doesn't want to race in another series on the side, he hasn't been allowed to since the Sonoma wreck.
  • no way.
  • I would have given him better chances if he had switched to Penske or Ganassi instead of Hendrick. He could still hook up with a good team in the IndyCar Series to run an Indy 500 "one off". My choice would be Panther Racing or possibly an extra car on Andretti Green Racing with Danica and Marco as teammates.
  • They all want to race either Indy or in Gordon's case F-1 but in reality they know where their bread is buttered.
  • No.
  • I doubt he would do it because ever since the fire in the Daytona 24 hour race, he doesn't really race at all outside of NASCAR. He is a race car driver and he went on vacation to go watch a race. What does that tell ya.
  • JR. & Budweiser ???

    May be...

  • It was pretty cool seeing jr. win the first race he has run with Hendrick. About the wearing the Budweiser Jacket, he couldn't do it last year because of the "gremlins" in his car, but he already made up for it this year.
  • Junior wins the Shootout !!.... AND ... Sport's Around Victory Lane,wearing a Budweiser Jacket !!!

Is that pretty cool or what ? I'm sure Anheiser Busch, liked that one !!! lol
  • Probably did. Shame they couldn't go with him or that he couldn't get what he wanted at DEI to stay. But he has moved on and I guess AB got a little extra Dale Jr.
  • Jr wasn't wearing the jacket JUST because it was the BUD shoot-out. He is still under contract with a-b to promote Budweiser for one more yr. So basically, Jr was just keeping HIS OWN sponsor happy. Jr isn't going to go out of his way to do anything that doesn't benefit him. Bud don't sponsor his car but he still has one more yr left to promote their products.
  • Ha, Ha Budweiser!!! Stick with Theresa and have a bruised butt from kicking yourself. I think the guys from Anheuser-Busch will be needing a shot to go with their beer this season!!! Who knows, maybe a whole bottle?!

They are just lucky Jr is a classy guy.
  • It was called the Bud Shoot out so that's why the Bud jacket. It was cool that Jr. won. They were drinking Bud beer also.
  • That was awesome, I am sure he enjoyed wearing the Bud jacket too! It was great that Rick Hendrick was one of the first to congratulate Junior, he never had that support at DEI. I hope he has a fantastic year, just for Step-mom!
  • Steffy is right. Seeing him get a congrats by Rick was awesome. Hell Teresa was only at the track for maybe five races all year. Rick is at all of them. He won't miss one. I think Jr is happy he could win his old sponsors race in his new ride. Getting help from his Hendrick teamates Johnson, Gordon, and Mears was cool to.
  • If A-B just gave me $200,000+ for a 50 lap shoot-out, I'd wear anything they wanted me to!
  • you know snake, i thought i would be OK with

    jr. [even as a Hendricks driver]--but i realized i

didn't even really care that he was winning

    the Shoot-out.

--in fact i was rooting for the 20 car to wipe him

out. [sigh]. all Budweiser's aside, i guess i

only see jr. as the enemy now. sorry jr--i just

    couldn't do it.
  • Bud shootout and Daytona?

    May be...

  • The Budweiser Shootout is an exhibition race, for the drivers who have won pole positions in qualifying for races in the previous races and for the active drivers who have won the Shootout in previous years. It is mostly for bragging rights, but it was important this year because of the new car. Participation in the shootout gave the teams more of a opportunity to check the set ups in the car this year, because everything is new and unknown, so the perks were more practice and checking to see how everything worked out before the Daytona 500. I hope I answered your question without causing too much confusion.
  • It Is Just A Big Race Of All Last Year Pole Winners.I Don't Think There Are Any Major Perks But then It Might Help Some Like Dale Jr Because This Year He Is With A New Team. Other Then That The Prize Money Might Be Good
  • Other then getting to run one the track in a race, Nothing realy significance. Only perk the winner gets is a nice paycheck
  • No perks for the 500... just practice, and a big paycheck.
  • i think that it is very significant for Jr. to win the first race that he has run for his new team, after not winning for a long time. so much for all of the haters saying that Jr. can't drive. Just sit back and watch what he can do with a good team.
  • What is the significance of the Bud Shootout at Daytona? Does the winner get any perks for the Daytona 500?
  • The Bud Shootout is an exhibition race. No relation to the 500 in anyway other than they both are run at Daytona and both are events for Daytona Speedweeks. So, no, the winner gets no Daytona 500 related perks for winning. He does however get a sweet cheque
  • $215,000.00 is a good perk
  • the bud shootout is manly a very competive money race. The winner gets no perks for the daytona 500 there starting positions are determined by qualifying and the gaterade 125's
  • Who will win the pole at Daytona today??

    May be...

  • Dale Jr. who else.
  • #24....he is good with poles. Just ask Jimmie:)
  • jimmy johnson he has been fast all speedweeks so far
  • TONY!!!!! #20
  • Tony #20
  • #31 JEFF BURTON!!!!
  • i hope Junior does!!!
  • #28 Travis Kvapil
  • Lmao@ Mark U. I despise having to cheer for HMS but I kinda have to because of JR. So I digress.
  • Dale Jr.
  • dale jr, with jeff gordon 2nd
  • Dale Jr.
  • #22 Dave Blaney
  • is that 2 day it will be the who drives the fastest
  • I wanted Jeff Gordon and that was true for most of the qualifying runs until Joe Nemechek and Dave Blaney and Denny Hamlin all qualified in front of him, along with Travis Kvapil and Casey Mears. I have a feeling he'll be starting top 15 though, but Jimmie Johnson has a shot at the pole, but I'm not sure now..
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. Tony Stewart second and Jeff Gordon third.
  • #17 kenseth
  • After watching the second practice, I'll have to say...

    M. Waltrip on the Pole with Smoke right beside him.
  • Jimmy Johnson put down fast lap times but i think dave blaney will take the pole.
  • Has this ever happened?

    May be...

  • yes he win as long as he crosses the line first,, and sure hope it is the # 88 this year,,
  • yes he would win he crossed first . i dont watch races much but commen sence .
  • daytona 500 last lap lead car bombing around last turn and spins and crosses the finish line backwards ? if he crossed first would he still win
  • yes this did happen but not at the daytona 500. and yes it still counts as a win becouse he would be the first one to cross the start/finish line.
  • Yep.....he wins

Cal Yarborough won after crashing in turn 4 on the last lap with Richard Petty and limped across the line still in 1st and won
  • Yes.... They do win.... and Yes... it has happened before !!

The TRI-OVAL seems to be a squirley spot on the track.....

That scenario could very well play out again, next weekend.....
  • yes he`s still first - forward backward or sideways he wins!
  • i dont like car races!!!

but yes i belive so it could hapen
  • i dont remember what race it was several years ago rusty wallace crossed the line on his roof sliding thru the grass

yes if he crossed first he would win
  • Bud fan or Junior fan.?

    May be...

  • Jr fan
  • I'm a hard core Dale Jr fan...I'm happy I can finally drink my Corona's this yr, none of my Dale Jr fans would let me drink my Corona Lights last yr...(I can't stand Budweiser) sorry Jr. So I have my Corona Lights and lime ready for tomorrow night...
  • a better question is why did Bud sign a driver whose fan base is teenage girls(my daughter included)?? They gonna make commercials of Kasey at an underage kegger in the woods?/
  • I'm a Jr. fan ,I drink P.B.R. and wear a Dale Sr. jacket. What does that mean.
  • Is Dale Jr less of a draw since his sponcer is the less sexy. I can't see the National Guard t's selling well with the former 8 fans outside the U.S. or the AMPed jackets moving with old school fans. Is some 35 plus fan going to start cracking open AMP over a 6 of Bud while watching the 500?
  • Depends. Are you a Junior fan or a SPONSOR fan?
  • I agree... it's silly to quit likeing something just because it's not supported by the driver you like. Jr. is a legend b/c of his dad, his driving, and many other things. Not because he drove for Budweiser...
  • I'm a fan of the driver. But even he couldn't convince me to drop a Miller Lite for Bud

And Rock your not the only one to make the observation.
  • Junior fan.

    Bud sucks.
  • Junior fan.. With Dale senior gone, junior has to fill the gap his dad's death left in racing. He may not be kicking butt right now but he kicks more butt then BUD beer ever will.

Dale Earnhardt #3 R.I.P.. he will be missed
  • JR FAN!!!!, I can drink just about anything while watching a race! LOL

Actually with his new sponsors I think his merchandise sales will increase dramatically as now more youth merchandise can be sold and worn. One of the problems I faced with the Bud sponsor was not being able to wear his shirts to work or school.

    __________________________

Right on Scout88 and thank you for your service!

DUPY YOU DON'T DRINK PEPSI??? For shame!! You're violating the #24 code there, then again you smoke too so there goes the Nicorete deal too! LOL
  • Dale JR fan . . . Bud is just another sponsor. They should have pulled their NASCAR sponsorship when he left. His mom is an idiot . . . how can Dale's son not be with DEI? I hope Dale Jr shoves it up their nose this year . . . I don't blame Bud . . . his step-mom is to blame.
  • Budweiser sucks as far as beer goes anyway. A Budweiser jacket might look cooler than an AMP jacket, unless they come up with a good design. I like the idea of a non-alcohol related sponsor. People didn't drink Budweiser just because Junior was sponsored by them. I asked the question of what kind of beer people drink during NASCAR races, and people have a much more discriminating taste in their beer. I know people who drink Budweiser and don't even watch NASCAR, so it's basically irrelivent. Besides now that Junior is sponsored by AMP he can draw a whole new crowd of non-drinkers, which is totally cool, because there really isn't much room in motorsports for people who drink alcohol. Unless your a spectator. Even as a spectator I don't like to be under the influence of alcohol when I watch, because I want 100% capacity of my attention to scrutinize the race. I'll pop a couple MGD's after the race, maybe. But i'ld rather drink an AMP or a Rockstar during the race, especially if i'm in public.
  • Lets be real. A true fan will be drinking Bud at the track rooting for Jr. Im a Jeff fan but I have to have Coke with my Jack. Pepsi just doesnt do it. If your not a Jeff Gordon Dupont fan, should you stop cooking on teflon coated pans? Dupont are the ones who invented it.
  • Millier Lite.
  • I am 38 and in the National Guard as a full time soldier. I do not care what others "outside" the U.S. think. Yeah, I still drink BUD, but my uncle also works for Anheuser Busch. Matter of fact, popping one open now. I have been a JR fan for sometime now, so I will continue to support him to the fullest by serving my country in the Guard, not by drinking AMP!!!! I know he will represent us well both on and off the track. That is the most important thing he can do, is to support us.
  • drunks will be drunks...its about the driver though...people will support jr by buying his merchandise...but theyll still get drunk off of some piss beer.....not to mention that bud now has a driver that doesnt lokk like hes old enough to drink.....
  • New ? can we all stop asking the same ?'s different ways, and be happy racing is back.?

    May be...

  • we can, but they can't
  • I understand the same questions can be tedious, but let's remember we have newbies who are curious and want to learn more about us and our views so they can know who to connect with. Try to have patience and answer the questions that interest you with respect. And hey throw out any great questions you think might be of interest, we wanna know what intrest you too!! Get the page flowing!
  • I agree--but it just keeps us NASCAR fans that much more curious. Even though many ?'s are very similar, we all continue to answer them and see what each other has to say. Anyway, let's go racin'!!!!!
  • Whos your favorite driver?
  • AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!
  • i.e. Jr. this, HMS that, who's favorite driver this, who's favorite team that, etc. etc.

Racing is back on boys and girls, lets all just sit back and enjoy the ride.
  • Boogity, boogity, boogity! Let's go racin', boys!
  • Affect of fuel temperature on performance?

    May be...

  • What is the the affect of fuel temperature on the performance of Formula One cars?
  • Cooler fuel can give a car a performance advantage.

It is denser, so it can take slightly less time to refuel a car or marginally more fuel can be added in the same time.

Cooler fuel would also give a slight power advantage for about three laps before returning to the temperature out on the track.

Eddie Jordan says: "If you put chilled or cool fuel into a car you get between 5 and 10 horsepower increase."

However, the total advantage for each car over the race distance is almost certainly no more than a second.
  • I'm sure you're referring to the cool fuel controversy that put off the World Championship results for about a month. Cool fuel has some advantages. It supposedly makes the car go faster. Over the distance of one race, it adds about 2-3 seconds of advantage. Secondly, by cooling the fuel, you can somehow manage to fit more of it into the tank. These are the effects of cool fuel.
  • Im not an engineer but I believe cold fuel gives a power bonus, so there's more horse power, so there's better pickup.
  • Who do you think will win the Bud Shootout?

    May be...

  • I think McMurray but I want Reed Sorenson!
  • Junior is going to pull it off, but It'd be nice to see Reed come on top for once.
  • Either Tony, Dale Jr., or Kasey. Would like to see Mikey do it to and its kinda lookin like he has the car to do it with this year.
  • Ryan Newman. The rocketman returns!
  • Smoke.
  • Martin Truex Jr or Mark Martin!!

    I'm hoping Truex does!!!
  • I'd like to see someone win that hasn't won one in awhile. Maybe Kenseth,Boris Said,Dale Jarrett.. Don't think Michael Waltrip will even come close...Something always happens to him !!!!
  • Let's see....

Johnson, Gordon, Newman, Ku. Busch, Smoke, Hamlin, Gilliland, and B. Elliott all wrecked during shootout practice. Johnson, Gordon, and Newman's cars are gone. Johnson and Gordon are good, but I just don't think they can win in backups. Those three will be in back ups. Don't know how back Hamlin, Gilliland, and Elliott's cars are. Ku. Busch lost a tire, but his car look fixable. Smoke and Hamlin, I don't believe their cars are in bad shapes and are fixable.

Looking at practice 2 speeds (which was at night), and since the shootout will finish at night, I figure the winner will come out of the top 10 from practice 2. The top 10 speeds were....

    Reed Sorenson = 191.873

    Jimmie Johnson = 191.091

    Casey Mears = 191.050

    Kasey Kahne = 191.046

    Bill Elliott = 191.006

    Jeff Gordon = 191.002

    J.J. Yeley = 190.267

    Dave Blaney = 189.885

    Kurt Busch = 189.434

    David Gilliland = 189.187

Five of those cars have been wrecked. Out of the remaining five cars that haven't been wrecked. I'll have to put my money on either C. Mears or K. Kahne. However, I'm sure old JuneBug will get up there some how.
  • Im going to stick with my man #2 Kurt Busch.
  • Tony Stewart
  • Tony Stewart.
  • J U N I O R
  • Whoever can get their mangled-up car, across the finish line

I'm going for Kurt Busch tonight !!!!
  • I'm picking one of three. Tony, Jr, or Kurt.

Obviously the first two have done it before and they look strong while drafting. And Kurt has actually gotten a lot better on the RP tracks in the last handfull of years.
  • Smoke or Dale Jr..But I want Dale Jr to win....Heck it would be great to see Awesome Bill win.
  • i think its goin to be a close one but Jr. is goin to win johnson would be close but he is goin to get caught up in the wreck when stewart gets mad at busch and they wreck each other again.
  • Jeff Gordon. The winners have usually started from 14th or back.... Dale Jr. won from 19th.. Anything is possible...
  • I'd like to see Tony Stewart win, but I have a feeling it's going to be Kasey Kahne. Just a feeling. I wouldn't mind seeing him win, either, after such a rough year last year.
  • Who can I ask for sponsrship on my late modle dirt track car? a beer company? dewalt? milwaukee?

    May be...

  • Good question. When we were securing sponsorship for our late model team in NC, we always went to local sponsors - such as the local beer company or the local bar or restaurant...you can also approach local parts distributors too...good luck!
  • hi I'm trying to contact you go to youravon.com/stevenson and check out my site and place an order we have so many different things to choose from. Report It
  • Try the internet too. I think iracing.com will be sponsoring teams soon but im not sure when, probably upon the release. Good luck!
  • sounds like you're just starting off. Start with your local bars and dinners, once you start winning then go for the big ones. you wont get a big sponsor unless you run up front. just a fact.
  • So whats the fastest track in nascar?

    May be...

  • Talledega holds the record but that was before restrictor plates.

In the current situation its Atlanta.
  • I would have to say Talladega. Its huge! 215 to 225 mph.
  • fastest top speed is atlanta i think, average speed, talladega

if we had no restrictor plates, talladega would be fastest, but atlanta is unrestricted, talladega is.
  • Dale-adega has potential, but Atlanta is the fastest.
  • It is Atlanta. It's not Talladega or Daytona, just because those 2 tracks are bigger does not mean they are faster. Atlanta is just like dega and tona just without the restricter plates.
  •
