Mike Bliss will lead a little and finish 2nd. Keselowski I predict will have some crappy pit stops but finish 3rd. Then Scott Wimmer will take 2 tires sometime in the race and come in 4th. On the last lap, David Reutimann will get hit by Logano and Leffler and go from 6th to 17th. That is my prediction. DALE JR!!!! It was the white # 1 ford. It was driving by Dick Brooks and Morgan Shepard. I'm finding Morgan Shepard started one race in car #1, a ford, at Darlington.
And Dick Brooks started three races, all fords, #1, at Daytona, Rockingham and Atlanta.
Tough one! I wouldn't say it was easy. Its been a long time, but if I remember correctly that was when Maurice was the Petty in Petty Enterprises. It was a Ford, which I remember being a bit surprised at as the Petty's had a history with Mopar and Pontiac. Now the driver was Dick Brooks, but I think Morgan Shepard ran a few races there too.
The car was number 1, and I believe it was only the number that was Petty blue on a white car. I don't remember a sponsor and I am not sure it had one. I also don't remember if it ran the full season. It was a very tough time for the Petty's. How'd I do??? Petty Enterprises only Winston Cup entry in 1985????

no The engines were tested 4 times last year. Dodge and Toyota had slightly more power than Chevrolet so no restrictions were placed on Chevy.
It takes more than power to win a championship.
The cup engines are fairly equal in power. None have had their power cut. I doubt they will win every year. I guess we will have to wait and see if they do, before we can debate on whether they should or should not cut their horsepower down, since I don't consider three championships in the last nine years to be totally out of the ordinary. yup they a sure a will there. they will a know its a consperacy....... no. They'd have to do all of Chevy if they want to cut horsepower and nobody thinks DEI or Haas CNC has too much horsepower. thank you someone on here who noes something why dont we put the same engines in every car so we some actual skill not some dam engineer in a shop Probably not.
I try to believe it's not favoritism but sometimes it's hard not to. The answer is no! There is no way NASCAR would be that unfair. They only did that to Toyota because they were winning most of the races in nationwide events. I agree with greenbean

Did not finish The Prez got it. Did not finish. That is a very, very bad thing to have happen. Did Not Finish. The reason for a DNF is that either a driver got in an accident so bad they couldn't finish the race or they blew an engine or broke a critical part in their car like to motor or axles. With the level of competition, I believe he really needs a top ten this week to stay competitive for the remainder of the chase. He stumbled last week, and he needs to hit his stride this week. no, but if he doesn't get a top 10 here and at kansas then his championship hopes are officially crushed. Well if you notice last year, every driver was given a "muligan". Usually Talladega was theirs. It would depend on how the others do for the rest of the chase. you can't count him out ever but i wish he finishes grappy 9 more races. GO JR.GO I think that after last week's finish, Kyle definitely would need a top 10 finish to stay up with the leaders. It seems that all the chase drivers do well when the chase starts and all it takes is a couple of bad races and it could all be over. Absolutely. There will be several drivers ahead of him in the standings right now that get top 5s and top 10s this week. If he loses another 50 or more points to them his championship aspirations will be down this year. I am afraid of how his menatality on the track might change if that happens. If you think he's aggressive now just wait to see how he goes all out if he is no longer points racing in the cup series.
3 STR8 N 08!!! If either Carl Jimmie or Gregg gets a top 5 this week and Kyle doesn't get a top 10 then he is going to struggle.
"Just my stinky opinion" ... what's that suppose to mean? LOL I don't think he literally has to but emotionally I think it is mandatory or he will be finished.............Just my stinky opinion. No. He is 70 some points behind with 9 weeks left. All he has to do is gain about 8 points a race on first. Not that difficult. A couple wins will put him near the top. If he has a bad race at Dover, then he has something to worry about I think. I don't think he needs a top 10; just not a finish in the 30s. It all depends on the competition.
It is very strong this year.
He has got to be in the top 10 for the rest of the chase.

Robby Gordon is having a hard time with GEM with the lawsuit so he decided to go back to Ford next year. With the Dodges struggling, he offered fellow Dodge drivers Elliott Sadler and Kurt Busch a ride with Ford next year and all they have to do is join him in stealing three Ford motors to get a head start on 2009. Kurt was able to get a Penske Rental truck and the plan was for Elliott to be a "master of disguise" and go in there as a delivery man to pick up three motors. We all know how bad poor Elliott's luck is, he got a flat tire on the truck and plowed it into the wall by accident. They decided to just steal them really quick but in the rush they grabbed Nationwide and Truck Series motors. Now Robby, Elliott, and Kurt are somewhere in Mexico without motors for next year but it's ok, they have an endless supply of Miller Lite and Jim Beam. Their presence in Dover this weekend is still up in the air. i'm not a fan of foreign cars in NASCAR, so i won't comment. GO CHEVYS no C) would make me happiest lol. I'd say A and B. Hehe. On a serious note, they use transponders mounted in each car and an elaborate sensor network to monitor lap times. Something is so wrong there. I don't think there should be any suspensions, but how can you suspend someone that is defending himself and not the person that started the physical fight?

I disagree with the severity of David Starr's penalty. He was basically dragged from his truck and was just trying to defend himself. They should let them do that tug-of-war. I was very happy to see the instigator take a shot to the forehead. Way to go David.
Too excessive to David Starr. He could have picked up a floor jack and hit that guy and I would still think he should have been vindicated.
The only darn truck race I miss in 2 years and I miss that action. Sheesh! To quote Mr. Horse from Ren & Stimpy, "No sir, I don't like it." I don't know. I didn't see it who fought. It's random one driver, all team owners, all crew chiefs, a few crew members, confusing IMO! I guess they were OK. Bodine's team overreacted. It's just racing and New Hampshire trucks are like that. Starr's team had every right to do what they did. I think that when you are hit, you should retaliate.
- despite the fact that I hate Robby Gordon. That seems to also be his pholosophy. I agree with you....I dont think the guy that gets approached at his vehicle and comes out to defend himself should get as severe of a penalty as the instigator.....if any penalty at all.
GO HARVICK & RCR!!!! Absolutely not. He could have been in a lot more trouble. A $10,000 fine with no points assessed or races to sit out is a good penalty. He came out of that car swinging and if he didn't want to be part of the action he could have just stayed in his truck. (He would have been called a sissy by everyone who watched the race, but he wouldn't have been fined.) So he chose a fine for the sake of his pride. Sounds like he made a good deal to me. (What's $10,000 in nascar dollars? three sets of tires and wrench?)
Besides all of that, David Starr is lucky the fight was broken up when it was considering all the stupidity he was showing on the track. He knocked out three trucks with the exact same move, in the exact same corner.. and two from the same team? You know he caused more that $10,000 damage that day. David Starr was swinging too once he got out of the truck.
They should have a ring on the infield for people to confront other people in so as not to start a riot. They nearly had a riot going on. That is the same thing that makes going to nightclubs less enjoyable is chaos.

I used to think Denny Hamlin and then he turned out to be a real jerk. I would say David Reutimann. It would have to be Carl Edwards who always gives his winning trophy away to a sick child................. He's not any wins this year.. but Mark Martin seems appreciative to just still be here !! I'd go with David Reutiman as well.He seems like he's glad to be racing and he did resign with MWR I think they all are appreciative of their positions. Some just show it less at times. i.e. Tony throwing a fit over second place finish. I would say Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson and David Ragan, in order starting with the most appreciative driver.
3 STR8 N 08!!! Mark Martin. He's so humble, you'd think his driving had nothing to do with his success. Mark Martin although he hasnt had much of a year Ricky Bobby..not far but he sure is funny.... Jimmie Johnson said he never expected to be a 2-time defending champ. So i will go with him. Jimmie Johnson, he never seems to have gotten greedy with all his wins. Kevin Harvick. No wins yet. 2 busch championships. Sprint Cup Championship is around the corner for him I think Jeff Burton. He knows how lucky he is and is very appreciative of what he has. He has seen first hand on how fickle this sport is. He has watched his brother win the Daytona 500 just to not even have a career less than 5 years later. He knows he is lucky and he remembers where he came from. I think Biffle.
Casey Mears. Although he hasn't won any races this year, I think he will surprise us in 2009. Report Abuse Jeff Gordon since he might not win one this year, he's grateful he has 4 championships and 81 wins so far in his career!
Bobby Labonte & Terry Labonte.
They've both stated that their parents couldn't afford for them to race, and yet always found ways to get the money so that they could follow their dreams, and how much they appreciate it.
They're both very humble about their accomplishments, and are active in charity work with their foundation.. I would say Jeff Burton, or Bobby LaBonte, because they grew up when drivers were driving their family cars. So I think they appreciate it for how far the sport has come, and that they can be involved in it. And the fact that they both have done well. Jimmie Johnson seems to be appreciative David Reutimann. He never bad mouths his MWR equipment, and we all know he would have every right. He just wants to race. I guess that attitude is why I pull for him to get a good finish every week. David Reutimann: He never does have a bad thing to say about how crappy his equipment is. He had a chance to leave but he is staying with Micheal. I think he is really appreciative to Mikey for giving him a chance. I'd have to go with Reuitman, he never says one bad thing, and seems to be a good driver.
Bifflel never says to much, but feel like he's pretty appreciative too. I'm going with Maggs on this one and say Jeff Gordon. If he's not most appreciative of the life/career that Hendrick/Nascar has given him, then he's worse of a human being than I thought. Though I imagine that is not the case. OK no surprise but I have to say Junior. After he won Michigan the guy almost cried and thanked everyone in the world except Teresa..LOL!! I know I got pretty teary eyed myself. The best part I was there at the track to see it all!
Although he hasn't won a cup race yet, David Reutimann seems very appreciative. He's humble and always acts grateful for the opportunities he's been given.
The guy's loyal, too. He could have gotten another - maybe better - ride when his contract with MWR was up, but he chose to stay. I admire that. For how far he has gotten, for his wins, ect. David Ragan. Granted, he doesn't have a win. But, this kid's job was on the line last year and he has stepped up his performance in both series. I think he is very grateful for the opportunities that he has. Im going with Carl Edwards or Mark Martin. Or so they say they are. I would say Greg Biffle.... it was a shame he didn't make the Chase last year, and I'm sure he's really ecstatic about the EARNED win at Loudon... if the win at Kansas boosted him, this should really propel him to the top! Go Dale Jr & Hms My favorite hat (I wear it during races) is my Jimmie Johnson pit cap from the first half of the season in 2006. That's when he won the Daytona 500, Vegas and Talladega. Those early season wins started his path to his first championship. I also like my 2006 Nextel Cup Champion hat, it's black and yellow instead of black and blue like the pit cap. GreenBean is funny and I like the way he just tells it like he sees it. He doesn't worry about being pollitically correct, he really speaks from his gut. My two favorite hats have to be my Green Dale Jr. hat that i have autographed by him (at Talladega Spring Race) and a Navy Blue Talladega hat signed by Dale Jr., Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin, and Kevin Harvick. A buddy of mine who make the NASCAR Tour with the FIREBALL SPEEDWAY (some of yall might know who I am talking about) got me FULL ACCESS passes for the Dega race that got me into ANYTHING... I ended up in the Drivers Camping area helping my friend get prizes for the FIREBALL SPEEDWAY campionships (if you know about it youll understand) and he told me to get my hats signed while i was there. My favorite hat is a blue one with Carquest on the front and a #5 in the back with Kyle's signature over the 5.
I have an M&M's hat, but it's not as worn in and comfy as the Carquest one.

and that would accomplish what Absolutely. Think of it like this-what if those parts that failed were copycat counterfeit parts, not correctly heat treated? The USA has a major problem with these type of parts being shipped in from overseas. Not naming any country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_-Iv9Fdd... Heating the part would discolor it. It could have been manufactured wrong, could have missed the heat treating process during manufacturing.
The part could have failed because it was defective, installed incorrectly or the car setup could have overstressed it. Gibbs knows exactly why it failed by now. Look for them to say it was a faulty part rather than something they did wrong.
The car wasn't right before it broke though, and it wasn't right after it was replaced so I assume the real problem was elsewhere.
The front end wasn't level during the pace laps, it was low on the left front. There was a problem with the way the car was set up IMO. Jeff Gordon would. Usually heating metal makes it stronger. Heat treating.
It depends on what kind of metal it is. All kinds of people are into it: doctors, nurses, secretaries, computer people, data entry clerks, accountants, mechanics, Realtors, lawyers, etc. It used to be. Now, these NASCAR teams have graduate engineers building their cars. Ryan Newman is a mechanical engineering grad of Purdue. All kinds of people are into it. Blue collar is a stereotype for fans of NASCAR. Most stereotypes about NASCAR were started in Indianapolis as the owners of a different league tried to separate themselves from Bill France and the people who raced in NASCAR. Not all NASCAR fans are blue collar. There are officials in state and national government that are NASCAR fans. NASCAR has fans from the age range of 4 to 100, fans in every state, and fans from all kinds of jobs whether they be white or blue collar. Go to the races and you will find a wide array of fans from blue collar to farmers to white collar. Young and old. Male and female. Fat and skinny. All kinds of people are into it. It might be hard to find any Democrats there though. I think all the drivers are Republican. I am confused with your reference to 'blue collar.'

I would like to see Jeff Burton win won. That's a good question. Kyle did win at this track earlier this season and he's going to be a litttle restless after his mishap at New Hampshire last Sunday. There is a lot of hungry drivers so there is no telling what will happen. No doubt. It is not like Greg Biffle to carry momentum like that to pick up two in a row. But if he does win this next race it will make him a key factor in this chase. What he said in an interview still sticks with me. If you pick up a top 5 in every race in the chase, you will without a doubt win the cup. I hope he wins but do i think he will, probably not. But He has 10 bonus points from the last dover race on his side. Greg is good there but Concrete Carl, his teammate, is the guy to watch this weekend. Look for the 99 to come out of the gate strong and put the heat on the 48 team this week.

I believe Dover is one of Biffle's best tracks on the circuit and might be one of his favorites. Last year in this race he finished 2nd to his teammate Edwards. This year in the spring he sat on the pole and led a bunch of laps and finished 3rd. I look for him to be equally as strong this week as he was in NHMS and Dover earlier this year. He should easily be a top five car barring he can stay out of trouble With this silly season anything is possible, Da Bif normally runs well, here, but I say his team mate Concrete Carl, will be doing the back flip on Sunday after he wins. Bif will probably be in the top 5. Yes if he wins 2 in a row and Rowdy has another bad weekend, now that would be real wild..

If it does happen, it could very well be the death of Dodge. GEM was the one to bring Dodge back into the sport back in 2001 when Ray created Evernham Motorsports. If GEM switches to Toyota, that leaves Penske as the only strong Dodge team out there until Dodge pulls out completely. It will also send both Petty and RGM scrambling for new engine partners and such since they both receive technical and engine support from GEM unless they were to follow GEM to Toyota.
I would hope that Ray gets a say in the deal since he founded what is now GEM even though he no longer hold majority control.
However, I really hope that this doesn't happen. I think it will, GEM does most of the R&D for Dodge. Dodge's days are over in NASCAR. I don't see them lasting for more then a year. dodge would be hanging on by their fingernails. who would that leave in dodge's? petty enterprises and ganassi? GEM is the only dodge team currently capable of winning races. if they were to switch to toyota, with or without bill davis racing, it would be a serious blow to daimler-chrystler
EDIT: oh yeah, thanks jozi. i forgot about penske I certainly think so... expect Petty and Penske to move to Ford if that happens. If that happens you might as well stick a fork in Dodge because they are done. Richard Petty in a Toyota would make me sad. Richard Petty is retired.
Why worry about him being in a Toyota. Dodge has already announced they will not be involved with the Truck Series next year. Most insiders think the Nationwide and Sprint are next. I think GEM is just getting a jump on the inevitable. Petty Enterprises will probably go back to GM. lord. i hope that doesnt happen. The only way that Dodge would "fade away" from NASCAR is if Dodge wants to. There will always be some team they could pick up. Dodge has a history of building some powerhouse engines. The capability is there... they just need to get on the ball. I think that most of the problem is not with Dodge but they just need to pick up a team like Toyota picked up when they got Gibbs. Gibbs already had the chassis and setups with Tony Stewarts success. That's the same thing Dodge needs. Is this one of those conspiracy questions. Half the Chrysler corporation made auto racing what it is today. Can I just "no"?

Not unless he can hook up with a premier team. Realize that Hendrick has 3 cars in the Chase, Roush has 3 cars, Gibbs has 3 and Childress has 3. If he can hook up with one of those 4 teams, yes. If not, no. If it wasn't for how "iffy" Dodge is in the Cup arena, I'd stay with GEM. They have money now and are improving. However, I look for Dodge to completely abandon team support in the next year or two. That being said, I'd look for another non-Dodge team. Same for Sadler.
Kasey should also take those three "soccer moms" up their offer... hey they aren't bad looking and could teach him a thing or two...... He better if he wants to contend for a championship. Just my opinion, NO Dodge team is going to close the deal.

In an interview with Kasey he was saying how he loves Gillette Evernham and his whole team, and he hopes to stay there until he retires. Ray has the brain-smarts to get it done. I think he should go one more year. In his contract he should tell GEM that the year's contract is based on the company's ability to become competitive. The COT is still new and all teams haven't quiet figured it out so I think he should give it another year for Dodge to turn things around. Look at Ford last year. A lot of people thought they were washed up and they've completely turned it around this year. Stewart/Haas is going to bomb while GEM is picking up their performance, Kasey will be a threat next year.

I think he's going to be ok..unfortunately. He has bumped and knocked around enough people that he better watch his p's and q's if it's close at the end. I didn't particularly care for the comments he made about Tony on RaceDay. IDK not a Kyle fan.. loved watching the replays of him spinning out!!! First let me congratulate Biffle! Now, to Kyle Busch. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist. But,
to me something fishy went on with his car. I mean, he has had an excellent car all year and has won 8 races and then the first race of the
Chase, there is a major problem? It is obvious someone high up made
sure this happened.
Nascar officials don't mind the fact that Toyota won many races this
year,,,But, they don't want them to win the Championship so soon after entering the Cup Series!
YOu got a point there. Denny is only for Denny, and with Tony leaving he wont have any help there.
I do think though it might be a little to early to tell. Kyle always seems to bounce back after a bad race.
He cant afford to have another one. If he does he has no chance. It will be tough to win the chase now with no help...........Tony is leaving after this year and Denny Hamlin loves Denny Hamlin! if he's consistent with the next 9 races then he could pull though, however i hope he's not...cause i want Jimmie to win 3 in a row! lol<3
kyle is a great driver though, and i know he's going to do whatever he can to get back on top. Let's not count the chickens before they hatch. Every driver is allowed one bad race. If there is one driver that doesn't have/need that mulligan, he will most likely be the champ. Hopefully it can be Jr. All he needs to do is get the finishes like he was getting early in the season and he should be decent shape heading to Miami. He had one bad day, but I sure wouldn't bet against him being champ! He's all done. I would say it would be np with the way he's been running this season but with the way Johnson has started to come on, every little slip is going to make it extremely hard to catch back up. All it takes is 1 race like yesterday and all JJ will have to do is go out and keep tearing off finishes like he has been and it will be darn near impossible for anyone to catch up. What I'm trying to say is, I think unless Johnson and Edwards have some really unfortunate luck, he's done. Yes, but I never expected Kyle Busch to contend for a championship this year! New owner, new crew chief, and the new owner just switched manufacturers. No way! Even with the wins, the consistency just wasn't there.
Now if he can just get his mind on winning as many of these races as he can between now and the end of the season it will be a banner year for him and JGR, no matter who wins the cup! I'd much rather win 10 races this season than have that chase cup! Winning the Cup just doesn't mean that much since Nascar changed to the chase format! Ten wins will more than prove who the man was this season!!!
PEACE! Kyle is still in the hunt but those bonus points he had are now essentially gone. It's a good thing he had those bonus points because if he had won 5 races instead of 8 he would be 11th in the standings and down by 100+ points. Kyle will be okay and remember he won at Dover in the Spring so chances are he will bounce back. However, Kyle has not had good luck in the Chase in the past. He'll be okay. Jimmie did it in 2006 after crashing but I think the field is too competitive this year to catch up. Kyle may have 8 wins but the top 10 looks the same very week. I make this remark assumig at least 1 or the 12 won't use their mulligan. One can only hope. But, I am not counting him out yet.
Actually, it was 2006 when Jimmie finished poorly in a chase race. His worst finish during 2007 was 14th. He never used a single mulligan last year. He has had his mulligan, and I'm sure he will bounce right back, it was just the first race in the chase. Rowdy is not in big trouble unless this happens 2 weeks in a row. Then if I were a Rowdy fan, I'd be worried.
Go Dale Jr & Hms To tell you the truth I hate this whole chase thing anyways. I don't think Kyle is in any trouble yet but one more bad showing and I think it could turn on him. I am not a JR fan at all and I am sure this pleases all of you out there as I have been hearing about it all day at work. This chase thing is so unfair as these points would not have hurt him at all if he had the points lead going in. The chase SUCKS. Big trouble this week. Did you see the commitment cone he picked up on the front of his car on Sunday?

I don't think he is in big trouble really for the championship because the way he drives, he can come back. As long as his cars work and he has decent luck.
I don't know how big of trouble it will end up being but I don't know if the championship can be won this year after having such a poor finish. It's too bad, even though I'm not a fan of his, I would have liked to see how he could have done without having problems outside of his control. I think one or 2 drivers will make it through without having major problems. Last year Jeff and Jimmie basically averaged top 5 finishes for all 10 races and Clint was not far behind them.
