Is Carl Edwards being Boycotted by P.E.T.A.?

May be...

  • He-he-he...That's funny....Sadly, I wouldn't put anything past PETA.
They want Ben and Jerry's ice cream to be made with human breast milk instead of cow's milk and were picketing outside their HQ..
PETA people are nuts. Thanks for the giggle..
  • lmao, that's funny! Like Winter said, It wouldn't surprise me if that actually happened...
  • cute .. but what i am shocked is that they are not after nascar because of digger... P>E>T>A sometimes goes way to far
  • It has come to the attention of P.E.T.A. (people for the ethical treatment of animals) that Carl Edwards and his crew are not taking proper care of their Duck. Seems that at a recent commercial shoot the duck was strapped into a race car and run around a race track at about 165 M.P.H. and lost all most all of his feathers in the process. The duck had to be put into an incubation booth with heat lamps to keep him from getting sick.
After filming the commercial the feathers were gathered up by a Miss Pam (Im testing the blouse stitches) Anderson. She told reporters that the feathers would be used to make pillows for underprivileged children. We are trying to do a good thing in the wake of this poor treatment of the duck.
It also came to the attention of P.E.T.A. that while filming another commercial that the duck was forced to do a back flip and did not rotate around properly and landed wrong and sprained his neck. The duck will be forced to wear a neck brace for up to three months, but is expected to recover nicely and a stunt double will now be used in performing all back flips.
Carl and his team have already agreed to set up a small pool at all tracks except Daytona as it has a lake in the infield. Asked what he thought about the boycott the duck replied " AFLACK".
Stay tuned for more on the boycott as there is a real concern for the duck as bristol and martinsville are coming up, and carl is known to scrape a wall or two there. P.E.T.A. will be in the pit of the 99 car to monitor any and all damage to the duck and to make sure the water temp. is warm enough for the duck.
However there is a real concern that if the 99 car does not finish in the top ten this year, the duck will be served up at the banquet at the end of the year with an orange sauce.
Also the Sprint girls have been warned to keep at least fifty feet from the duck as it is mating season and the duck is been preening himself while around them. AFLACK
  • I wouldn't be shocked if PETA did. They're a bunch of nutcases that have no life.
  • That's funny. it would not surprise me if they did do that. I am all for animal rights, but I think P.E.T.A takes it a bit too far. As long as the animals are taking care of, who cares right. Every Collage National Finals Rodeo here (Wyoming), they are all over. They are more common than the flies.
  • I find an organization with Pam Anderson as a spokesperson very hard to take seriously. BTW veganism is an eating disorder, human teeth are not designed to eat plants only.
  • I'm all for animal rights but PETA just doesn't choose their battles well.
  • OK good one !!!! I,m not going to ask to send link this time!! LOL LOL
  • That is just to funny.LOL LOL
Can't wait for the next one
  • Would not put it past them. PETA is a bunch of losers who have nothing better to do. However, I would become a member of the ASPCA if I could. the ASPCA is actually a great organization.

    Thanks for the smile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I guess PETA is dumb enough to do that...I remember back in the mid-90's Areosmith had an album cover with a picture of a cow's udder that was pierced. Of course they were all pissed off about that...Steven Tyler had to actually explain that it was a computer generated image. What a bunch of tools!
  • LOL, that was great, but I would not put anything past PETA, but they are welcome anytime to come rescue digger anytime they want to.

  • DW says Kyle is the greatest driver in the last 30 years?

    May be...

  • DW is certainly no expert. He's got some knowledge, but no expert. Kyle has got balls, you've got to give credit where credit is due. But you have got to remember DW thinks his brother is a great driver. But then that goes back to the Greatest intimidator because he gave Michael a chance when no one else would. A lot has got to do with luck, equipment, and the big man in the sky , lord knows he has some of the greatest up there racing around.
  • DW will say anything when he gets excited.Kyle is a great driver but that is a pretty bold(and totally untrue) statement. To say that would mean that Kyle is better than the likes of Dale Earnhardt,Jeff Gordon,Jimmie Johnson,Bill Elliott,DW himself, and others that are far greater than Kyle as of now.
  • D.W. is a few bricks short of a full load , Busch is good but i don't think that good yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • That's interesting. I believe Kyle is a great driver and could be one of the greatest in the future, but I don't think he is the greatest right now. He still has a long way to go. I think Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jeff Gordon are the greatest drivers from the last 30 years.
  • Do you agree? I like him but he had ONE good year. DW is a little too far up his @ss.
  • Kyle is a great and talented driver but we can say hes the greatest yet we just have to wait and see in the future years to come :)
  • Kyle is a good driver. Kyle still has alot to learn.DW is a retard. I wish he would retire so we didn't have to hear his stupid comments during the race.
  • I guess it depends on how you look at it. He may very well be the most talented, yes. But he hasn't begun to really accumulate the wins and championships. So we'll see. DW, like him or not, certainly knows more about talent and racing than either you or I. That comment also sounds like it was taken out of context somewhat. I doubt DW is saying he has had a better career than Earnhart, Gordon, etc like people here are trying to say he was saying. "Greatest driver in 30 years" if he said that , can be interpreted in several different ways. And I can't believe how many people here are saying DW is a retard?! Just because you don't agree with some of what comes out of his mouth? The guy has been there, done that in Nascar. I guess most of you other guys and gals here have won dozens of races and a championship?
  • Kyle Bucsh is bad *** though and though. He is hungery and driven. DW is just telling it like it is.
  • I think it's easy for television commentators to get carried away with someone like Kyle. He gives them a lot to talk about. People love him, and people hate him, which makes for good TV. However, it does seem like Kyle gets a lot of praise from older drivers from Waltrip's era. It's kind of tough to compare driver's from different eras because the sport has changed so much.

I just thought of this: anyone who watched the pre race show on Fox last Sunday, saw an interview with Jeff Gordon in which he said "I wish I was as talented as Kyle..." I guess that can give everyone something to think about.
  • I dont agree with DW! He is a good driver but one of the greatest is still to be determined. 13 wins doesn't make you the greatest in 30 years. Heck, DW thought last night during qualifying that Kyle was running in all three of the upper series that are at Atlanta. That would be ok but the Nationwide series has the weekend off. He is in love with Almandinger and Kyle.
  • In the last 30 years Dale Earnhardt won 7 championships, Jeff Gordon won 4 championships, and Jimmie Johnson won 3 championships in a row. Not to mention Richard Petty who won 4 of his 7 championships since 1972.

Kyle's good. He's won a lot of races. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he lives up to DW's claim.
  • That's a bold statement. Let's not crown this guy yet. Going back thirty years there have been many drivers I can think of who had many more accomplishments.
  • he may be right
  • Kyle is not the best in 30 years,1 good year,a couple so so,this question needs to be asked in 5 years!
  • In my world it's true...in reality, it's a bit premature to say about a 23 year old. He is good though..
  • I think he could end up being the best in the last 30 years, but it's too early to say. He's definitely got talent though, and he generally knows how to use it.

DW and Richard Petty both have stated that Kyle Busch is the best driver they've seen in a long time now. That says a lot to me considering the careers they had.
  • I tell you Kyle B is good...He may just surprise us all this season.I would like to see a new face holding the cup at the end of the season.
  • Kyle is a very good race car driver however he has alot of good competion like, Stewart, Gordon, Edwards, and Johnson so to say that is pretty far out there. However everyone has a right to there own opinion.
  • DW has had his lips all over Kyle's behind the last couple of years. Yes, Shrub has really picked up on the COT faster than anyone else but he STILL has no championships to show for it in any series. He is probably the best there is at car control but to be a complete driver you have to learn patience and self restraint at times. If Shrub can ever do that he will undoubtedly be a champion but he has a long way to go to be considered the best driver in the last 30 years. By my recollection that means DW is saying that he's better than the winners of multiple championships including Dale Earnhardt Sr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. I would not put him in that company now and possibly never, I want to see what he does over the long haul. Heck, I had him 3rd on my draft board THIS year for fantasy racing, behind Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • That may be the smartest thing DW has ever said.

Look at Kyle's age. I can't only name one driver who had this many wins at age 23. Not Earnhardt, Petty, Allison, Pearson, Richmond, or Gordon...

Only Kyle Busch...and this is only the beginning.

DW will be proven right within the next few years. Which is odd for him
  • He is a very good driver, but IMO it's hard to compare a driver that's only been in the sport for 5 or so years to the likes of multiple champions such as Jeff Gordon. Jimmie Johnson and Dale Sr.

Kyle has the potential to be one of the greatest drivers in history, but he hasn't even won a dang championship yet.

    DW has lost it.
  • He's good, but I am TIRED of DW. He is so obviously biased toward a few certain drivers.
  • He's a hell of a driver. Don't get me wrong. I can't stand him. But the boy can drive a racecar.

However, I think that all good things must end sometimes. And I think that if Kyle is gonna be the legend that everyone says, he's got A LOT of maturing to do.

    Time'll tell
  • Kyle is a great driver, but it's definitely too soon in his career to tell.
  • I agree with you. When did DW say that??? Are you sure?? He had one good year and Jeff Gordon, Dale Sr., Richard Petty, Jimmie Johnson etc...all had numerous good years. I wonder what DW meant?? Do you have a link to the story???
  • He's one of the best I've seen the last 30 years. He may be the best some day. He's had several good years since he was 17. Don't give me that one good year crap. He made the chase twice in the 5.
  • He is pretty darn Good... We will have to wait and see about the best in 30 years thing though!
  • Well DW says a lot of things, LOL!!
Now I will admit that Kyle had an awesome year, and yes that boy has talent but I think it's a little early to be saying stuff like that. So I agree with you totally!vietnamese beauty expo

  • Where is the best place to sit at bristol for a nascar race?

    May be...

  • As the others said, there's really not a bad seat. I would recommend being up at least 30 - 40 rows though. Our seats were in row 40 something and they were great. It's a great track to see a race at.
  • i'm a seasoned fan, not just there to see the wrecks. Never been to bristol, but i've seen other short tracks. Ideally i want to see the whole track and pit lane of course, but i don't know how steep the turns are or anything, so i don't know whats gonna put me in a hole. please only answer if youre seen a nascar or busch race at bristol, thanks!!
  • There really aren't any bad seats. You can see the entire track from everywhere except the low rows in the straigtaway. I sat too high there. I felt like I was viewing the race from a helicopter. I would sit in one of the turns about row 20 if I went back.
  • as a season ticket holder to BMS i can tell you there is reallly not a bad seat at Bristol but i do enjoy sitting in the Earnhardt Terrace because of the theatre seats and its under the under hang so if its hot you got shade and if it rains your dry ,but honestly at BMS there is not a bad seat in the place i hope you attend the race and enjoy yourself at BMS
  • I think I'd like to sit in a car turning laps, but since that is out of the question, I'd sit up high on the front stretch.
  • At Bristol, pit row is on the front and back stretch. There's really not a bad seat in the house as you can see everything. One year I sat in the Junior Johnson section, on the backstretch, in row 12 and could see very well.

If I had a chance to go again, I'd probably sit up at least on the 40th row as to not get hit by tire chunks all race long.g35 transmission problem

  • Nascar Nation , Hows your coffee today ?

    May be...

  • My Coffee is non existent today......................

The question I think that is asked the most is "Is NASCAR a sport??"

    Stupid trolls!

Probably is who is your favorite driver but the other one pisses me off the worst!
  • It was hot and black, just how I like my....coffee! LOL Who will win (insert that week's race)? Or the all time classic "How do drivers go to the bathroom during a race?"

  • coffee is regular and most asked question here is if they have to pee do they or where do they or how do they....
  • got a pepsi gettin' my caffine that way

most askes question how can they go 4 hrs and dont use the bathroom
  • Who will win the chase?? My coffee is fine today my friend.
  • AAAAAAAAAAAH YESSSSSSSSS an extra large Tim Horton's double double, now my day can start :)

I'm really getting annoyed about all the " How do I get started racing" questions. I mean how easy can it be. Buy a car and race it LOL
  • either "Who is your favorite driver?" or any question like "why do like nascar it's so boring?"
  • My coffee is a little bitter today. I have to work all weekend, and will miss the races. I will probably tivo them or watch the replays on Speed Network, but it's still now the same as seeing them live. I have a feeling I will be sneaking off to the breakroom frequently.
  • Orange juice was great this morning :)

Who is your favorite driver is asked all the time.
  • Coffee is brewing, and it will taste good.

Who's your favorite driver is the questions asked most.
  • are you talking about just this site?
because these are the things that keep me up at night:

First, I would like to know how to watch NASCAR race games for free on my computer.

Also, I bugs me to not know how drivers go pee during a race.

But the one thing I really need to know is Jeff Gordon's sexual preference.
  • The most asked...

As a serious question, "who's your pick for this weekends race?" or "who's your favorite driver and why?"

As a trolling question "how do drivers go to the bathroom"

Coffee is great as usual, but would taste better at home.
  • Hot, sweet and creamy.
    Mmmm....

My coffee could easily be misinterpreted as something naughty.
    Oh my.
  • What ONE question do you think is the most asked in NASCAR ?

A little girl had just finished her first week of school. 'I'm just
wasting my time,' she said to her mother. 'I can't read, I can't write,
and they won't let me talk!'
  • ....The main one that bugs me is the ones about "NASCAR" video games.Go to the game section.
....AND MY COFFEE IS DECAF THIS MORNING !
    ....but other than that;
    ...........GO SMOKE...........
  • The coffee is hot, and yummy!

the ONE question? = I believe Storm "The Warrior" Bandit has answered that correctly, "Who is your favorite driver?"
  • My coffee is strong and hot....just how I like my guys too. LOL

The question: Who's your favorite driver?

    The most annoying?
Why is NASCAR a sport and
    How do drivers go pee?

So all three of them and its a three way tie almost.
  • Most asked question: How do the drivers go pee during the race?!? or Who is your favorite driver?!? or How do I become a race car driver?!?

Those are probably the top 3, I dont know which one pops up more often.

As for the coffee, well I had water instead :) Im not much of a coffee person.
  • The coffee was wonderful. I think the others before me have answered the other question! My answer? Hendricks Team! Go Jeff, Jimmie, Jr & Mark!violent person

Do racing stripes really make you go faster?

    May be...

  • That is a ridiculous and idiotic assertion. Stay in school.
  • The first racing stripe I saw was on one Ford's first GT-40's.It was an overpowered, ill handlong beast, with a forward seating position, and a rounded nose. Therefore, it was impossible to tell when the thing was going straight. Somebody painted a stipe out in front of the steering wheel down the nose for a refference. When the driver kept the car going in a straight line it went faster. Yes in that case it made the car faster. The car won, and everybody had to have a stripe.
  • Yes it does, for cars it adds about 1/2 horsepower, and mopeds a bit less. Even for runners, the Adidas stripes give you a little boost. For bicycles, if your frame has a stripe painted across, it give you just as much aerodynamics effect as tri-spoke wheels. I have two stripes painted on my laptop and it boots up fasterer. Why do you think all the race cars, racers of all kind have a stripe?? People need to realize the power of the stripes it gives you.
  • I highly doubt it. Maybe I should put racing stripes on my stomach so I will run faster for track.
  • I understand that if you put racing stripes on cars etc it makes them go faster. There is no evidence against this fact and lots for it(lots of fast cars have them and are quite fast). I am thinking about putting stripes on my moped and i was just wondering if anybody has some real evidence for this. My friends told me that i should get the stripes and that i would go alot faster but here i am for help. I need advice on whether or not you generally think its a good idea and whether it will be safe to add extra speed to my moped. Please dont leave comments like go faster stripes dont work if you dont have any evidence. Thanks in advance.leather-mail-bag

  • Lowe's Motor Speedway, DON'T TOUCH IT!!!
  • OMG, thaat is one of the best questions ever.

Dang, I have to say either Atlanta or Charlotte

They both have the same charistics, I know that, but Atlanta is slightly wider and more fun, but then LOWE's is longer and is awesome in night time.

Pants, I'll go with Charlotte, Atlanta could do with some work, but Charlotte is wanting some TLC too.
  • No question, O.F. it's got to be Darlington. TOO TOUGH TO TAME...hopefully it'll stay that way AND on the CUP tour.

    Just an opinion as always.
  • I have to go with Bristol even though I get murdered there every time in fantasy racing!!
  • For me that would be a tie between Dover and New Hampshire, I wouldn't change a thing about either track.
  • I'm surprised no one has said Richmond. This track always makes for good racing and is most drivers' favorite. Sometimes Lowe's has boring races, but Richmond is always fun-filled!
  • any track that offers side by side racing. I don't care what size it is. From Richmond to Talledega, if there are 2 or 3 wide battles for position going on, the track is PERFECT! That's what stock car racing should look like. Even the "boring" cooke cutters.
  • I think New Hampshire and Texas are perfect just the way they are.
  • For me Richmond is the perfect track. It has some awesome racing there. Its a very unique .75 track.
  • Question , What track do you think is PERFECT ?
Where you would not change one thing .

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
  • good question !! michigan come on 4 wide racing gas millage dan dont forget the U.S. 500 lol
  • Charlotte- banking, size, lights, competitiveness and locality what else do we need?
  • Bristol... (THE OLD BRISTOL)

Before they wrecked it w/ the new pavement and ruined the racing there that was the most anticipated race of the season for me. The Spring and Summer/Winter (It's in August) race were ALWAYS exciting.. Now don't get me wrong, The racing there now is still good to watch. I love how they can go 3 wide in the corners and not wreck but the original Bristol will be missed greatly! They have ruined that place compared to the old track

If you could go to any nascar race in any city for free, which one would you like to attend ?

    May be...

  • It'd be hard to pick...

    Daytona 500
    Sharpie 500
    Brickyard 400

I'd have to go w/ Daytona.. It's the birthplace of one of the 2 things I love
  • MEXICO CITY
  • catfish would like to go to talladega because he loves the track and there are some wild woman there
  • Bristol...NO, Charlotte...NO, Daytona...NO, Indy...GAA, I can't make up my mind! Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo, Pick a tiger by the toe...
  • I've been to some great tracks but have yet to see a race at Bristol. So the night race in August is the ticket.
  • Las Vegas baby...................One I have never been to sin city so I could kill 2 birds with one stone!!!! Hell, I might even get married again..........................OK, that was total B/S, but I would love to get to Vegas baby!!!!!!

    Arya................you are a stooge!

T-Bone, Fontana would be a great choice. You then could catch up on some sleep!! (Just kidding with ya!)
  • Am I getting closer to someone giving me those free tickets I asked for once?

Will you do it? If so, please buy them for Martinsville.. I really want to get the great feeling of that place...the sound, the roar of engines and the close-up view...

    Thank you!

BTW, for more of a reason for you to buy them from me.. I have never met my favorite driver.. so I would love to.. and I have never went to a race.. BUT I WOULD LOVE TO!
  • I'm going to say Watkins Glen... best road track in NASCAR! (Not an Infineon fan).
  • daytona 500
  • I think it would have to be Daytona 500, it's a classic race and a great atmosphere!

  • In reality, probably Texas.
In fantasy... "Gimme those tickets baby! we're goin' to Pocono!"
  • I'd like the suite in turn 4 of Texas please. Or a free trip to Fontana. Yes I said Fontana.

Let me know when the travel arrangements have been made.

    Thank you
  • I've already been to the Daytona 500, so it would be a toss up between the night race at Bristol and the April race at Dega.

The truck series on the other hand....send me to any race and I'll be a happy camper (well except maybe Fontana this year)
  • Bristol August 22. I'm giving a link for you to buy me some tickets for my birthday !
  • Definitely the Indy 500. I have always wanted to go see it and i think that it is the coolest NASCAR race
  • Daytona 500! I'd give alot to do it all again...
  • There are so many races that I would like to go to. I'd probably say the Brickyard because there is just so much racing history there.
  • Bristol!
I'm a cheap date. Tennessee's just one state away from me. I'll be too excited to eat or sleep much, so meals and hotel rooms are optional. : )
  • Definitely Vegas or Phoenix.
  • Michigan
  • I'd like to go to dover for the nationwide race, i try to go there as much as possible it is alot of fun
  • definitely Talladega. big track, big wrecks and all around fun
  • I have been to a lot of races but I have never been to Dover and would love to go their.
  • I'd go to the spring race at Bristol. I can't imagine what it's like to watch a race in person there.
  • 4 tickets to the race, meals, hotel rooms and transportation comped for free
  • No question Indy. Its the holy grail of auto racing
  • I want to see the Daytona 500.double thumbs
  • POLL: What kind of a day/week is Jr. Nation having?

    May be...

  • we are good.
  • I don't think he is loving it, in fact I think the stress has blown a vessle in his head somewhere that is affecting his memory I am guessing the cerebrum region. I have added pictures to help him regain some of that memory.

I am pulling for you Know it all ;)

    I hope I helped....LOL!!!
  • Top 10 finish, and KB avatars...all in all it probably evens out.
    I thought I was prepared.....I wasn't.
  • I don't know if I am considered a "Nation Member" or not but I am happy with his 10th place finish..............

As far as the rest of your question I will have to plead the Forrest Gump........."I don't know a whole lot bout that!!"

    LOL
  • Was Know It All the King of defense for Jr. Nation before he was brought to his knees?
    Is your leader being humiliated?
Is it going against his constitutional rights to be free of cruel and inhumane treatment?
How do you feel about the man who first gave women rights???
My opinion is that he is loving it. What is yours???
  • Who's the leader?

    Did I miss something?

And I'm not in Jr Nation but glad to see him finish decent this weekend. He needs a lot more of those top 10's if he's going to be a force this season like so many people stated on here months ago..
  • Drivers please let Jr. win again..screwy nation is going batty, he driving like a comedian- can't throw debris on the tracks anymore..need some kind of release bad...PLEASE NASCAR let them throw beer cans one more time..cingular users forum
  • In your opinion do you think NASCAR did a bad job at keeping the track clean at Las Vegas?

    May be...

  • if they had leftovers from the night before, then IMO they did not do a good job cleaning up. I don't leave tonight's leftover dinner on the table for tomorrow night...
  • They did a lousy job of cleaning the track. That's what Jimmie Johnson got into and caused him to crash. Yes, they should have red flagged to clean the track. BUT-because FOX has network "commitments" after the race, (TV re-runs are more important), they run them under yellow. NASCAR has definitely gone down the tubes. That is one reason ESPN was created back when.
  • Also why didn't NASCAR red flag the race for debris while they were cleaning the Stay-Dry from the track instead of runing off laps under a yellow flag caution.
  • i say they didn't do too good of a job at cleaning up the track. i saw the speedy dry on the track before the race even started. i had thought something had happen before the start of the show only to be told by (i think DW) that it was speedy dry from the Nationwide series the night before. you'd think they would have that all cleaned up by the time the green flag dropped for the Sprint cup series.
  • well it showed the stay dry and I think it was DW who remarked that you could see it then you could also see the drivers swerving to miss it. Jimmie Johnson wasn't so lucky.
They did red flag it after the big wreck. I think they started it too early under yellow after cleaning it up.

i recall one of the twins asking what a red flag meant...so thats why I am thinking that they did red flag the race.

    Hmmmmmmm...
  • They did just fine.
I couldn't see any left down there after they were done cleaning it.car wiring schematic

  • What would you think if Jimmie Johnson FTQ'd for a race after he uses up his 6 Past Champions Provisionals?

    May be...

  • You can blame Darrell Waltrip racing past his prime & alot of crying for the Past Champions Provisionals...... So as much as you hate Jimmy Johnson & Past Champions being able to "get in" when they aren't fast enough.... hate DW for more than his Boogity, Boogity & that stupid cartoon.
  • I don't think that he will ever FTQ.
  • Never gonna happen
  • That would be pretty shocking if this all happened. I think he will turn it around. He will get some confidence back at Martinsville and probably carry that through to the next race.

  • No different than Bill Elliott. He ends up qualifying or going home same as the rest of the back markers. No difference.
Why do you hate JJ? Same for Jeff Gordon when he was winning championships? Dale Earnhardt? Richard Petty?
I'm not a fan of 24 & 48, I still am for 3 and the King's 43. Difference-I admire what JJ has accomplished as has JG. DE and the King. It takes a thing called talent with top equipment.
  • He is sitting in the top 20 in points right now. 19th place. He is not going to fall out of the top 35. Look for him near the front next weekend. He always is. He had a good race except for a pit stop gone bad near the end yesterday.
  • "...he is doing SOOOO horribly right now..." He's only 32 points out of 12th and 116 points ahead of the 36th place driver. No, I do not think he will ever drop out of the top 35 this year and definitely not fall below that after the next 2 races. It sounds like you will be very UNHAPPY when he qualifies for every race AND makes the chase again. He will probably end up making you downright depressed if he wins his 4th championship in a row, breaking the old record that he is already tied for LOL Enjoy the season, my friend!
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • Well, I actually have 2 questions to ask. The first one is since he is doing SOOO horribly right now, do you think he might drop outside of the top 35 in points after the first 5 races? And my 2nd one is do you think he will FTQ(Fail To Qualify, NOT F*** The Qualifying! LOL. Now, THAT WOULD BE HI-LARIOUS!) for a race after Martinsville? I know he won't FTQ at Martinsville, because HE ALWAYS WINS at that track, which I REALLY, REALLY HATE! Plus, he would have a stupid Past Champion's Provisional he could use. I really hate Jimmie Johnson, so if he failed to qualify for a race, I WOULD BE SO HAPPY! Just like I was yesterday when he WRECKED AND FINISHED 24TH!
  • not gonna happen
  • It's DNQ !!! and it's never goona happen
  • Won't happen. Usually, drivers like Bill Elliot and Terry Labonte are the ones who run out first.
  • I would say it would be time for him to retire than. I was also happy to see him in the wall also and Junior with a top 10 finish.
  • I's not in the cards. HMS will pull it together, and soon.

That's like comparing tomato sandwiches and Jimmy Johnson. Oh, wait a sec, isn't that exactly what you are doing? Get over it. Jimmy's not my favorite driver, but he is most certainly the guy to beat.

    Hmmmmffred fox cleaners
  • What's your opinion about David Reutimann?

    May be...

  • I wouldn't put him in the top 10 drivers yet but he has been much better than his equipment has allowed him to show. He got screwed over last year when he changed cars but didn't get to take his points with him. Reut STILL got his car in the show and back up into the top 35 in owner's points. Now he has started off this year where he left off last year. With Rodney Childers on his pit box, Bootie Barker as the crew chief for Mikey and Marcos Ambrose as basically the 3rd MWR driver they are looking way better this year, so far. Now if TRD can clean up their engine problems they will all have opportunities to win a race or 2 under the right circumstances. It's pretty close between Reut and David Ragan, as far as drivers that have yet to win their first cup series race. It will be interesting to see which one of the 2 can get to victory lane first!
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • I have to agree with you JM . I'm glad he's running up front he deserves it.
  • He has sure been impressive as of late. However, with the team he is in, I believe he won't make the chase. Could steal a win sometime though soon
  • On a strictly personal level, I don't like him. Something about him grates on me. But if I look at him totally as a driver, I'm becoming more and more impressed. Good thing there's no chance of ever being his acquaintance and a good thing my only reference point should be his driving capabilities.
  • To me he was just another driver out there...but lately I have been looking at him a bit differently and then yesterdays race made me think this guy has what it takes. I look forward to continue watching his driving to the front of the pack now.
  • Him and David Ragan are in the same boat at the minute.

Both are strong when they have their good days, and both will impress me greatly when they get a win.

I can see Ragan winning first, I mean, Would you EVER argue about Roush? Fair enough they made a balls up on Sunday, but Jack R will go into his office with a 12 guage.
  • I think he is an incredible driver and will win a race this year.
  • I think that he is a good driver. I think that he can win a race this season and will finish in the top 20, with a chance to sneak into the chase. MWR has really improved this season.
  • If you would of asked this question a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't of had any opinion. Now, he's not on my list of favorites but sure has people takin notice. This could be interesting and worth keeping an eye on David Reutimann. Yesterday was one of those races where you were able to see a lot of different things about other drivers that you never thought about paying any attention to.
  • I can't see him winning but I can see him getting close to the Chase.
  • I don't see Reutimann winning, but he should have a number of good finishes.
  • MWR and Red Bull are improving drastically the past year, he's my favorite truck driver back when he's in the trucks.
  • Well, he seems to be doing alright with MWR equipment, but just imagine how much better he would be on a better team? He may win a race or two this year, who knows? We won't get that answer until he does, so it's anyones guess.
  • Yes, his is a good driver, and he will win a race this year!!
  • I like him he is a good driver.
  • Very good driver

Sally B; when did you meet David?????cellular one internet
  • Is anyone else as disappointed as I am with HMS?

    May be...

  • oooo come on
  • im very disappointed at HMS. They are ripping my driver Dale Jr out of everything. Jeff and Jimmie are getting the Cadalac of race cars and Mark and Dale Jr are getting the Hugo;s.
  • Not me. I'm sitting pretty right now. Jeff is leading the point series!! People need to quit whining about JR. His problem is his crew chief. Mark's engine troubles... not sure. Let's hope that he gets these out of the way early and has a great rest of the season.
  • Mark and Jr both pop out of gear, overrev, and $#!+ an engine in less than 2 laps, twice for Mark. It's more than just engines, there's a tranny issue there, too.
  • I'm disappointed with them too. It just seems fishy to me that Dale Jr and Martin have the same problems with their cars while Johnson and Gordon ride out front. Maybe it's the curse of DEI. Once you've walked through that front door you never truly walk out, lol!
  • Martin is a bigger cry baby than dale jr....HMS does not need either one...all Martin can say is "I'm havin' fun".. jr. gets caught speeding on pit row-now will want the speeding rule changed. Mother Theresa, come get this kid by the ear and take him back...total embarrassment for Jimmie and Jeff....
  • You and me both know that It has nothing to do with Rick using Mark as a test or whatever. Rick Hendrick is one of if not THE most respected car owners in Nascar and I am 100% confident That this organization will fix their engine problems very soon. Martin will have a shot at the title. Mark my words.
  • OMG i dont care about today this whole season...jeesh 2 engine failures this week i think Jr last week...i am not sure...like i watched today and elgit sat and thought...what is up with these guys...they are not nearly performing to the standar they set 07 and tried to continue in 08...=[ i hope they turn this around
  • Nothing to do with what HMS is doing. These problems are running across the board. No one is safe, Chevy's, Ford's, and Toyota are all having similar engine issues. This is a supplier problem. NASCAR needs to look to their parts supplier and start to question what is going on.

My .02...times are tough and the economy is kicking everyone in the ***. When times get tough, companies trend to cut corners and look more to their bottom line than their product. Time for NASCAR to run some Quality Control checks
  • I am very disappointed with HMS and Rick all together. He let a good one go with Kyle Busch. He is going to come back and haunt Rick before its all and done with.
  • I am extremely upset with Hendrick Motorsports after todays race at Vegas. Why? Because in the first 3 races this year, Mark Martin has had 2 engine failures. To me, if you want to bring a guy like Martin into your stable, you should not use him as a test driver for your bigger names. Mark came into this deal thinking he'd have a shot to win a championship, but Rick seems more interested in using him to see what will or will not work for the 24 and 48 cars. Who else feels Rick is not supporting his end of the deal here?
  • If anyone deserves a championship, it's Mark Martin. He is a true "real" NASCAR racer.
  • i am disappointed with hms. sumbody is sabbatged his(88) car to lose motors and flat tires.
  • lol John F your really gonna call out jr on his pit mistake and say that he and martin are an embarassment to gordon and jimmie. jimmie slid threw his pit box once and gordon locked up his left front and blew the tire trying to get on pit road, he had to go around and then brought out a caution. they were all honest mistakes, i like all HMS drivers incase it sounds like im bashing gordon and johnson, sry. Alot of people had problems this weekend with the pit road entry not just jr.
  • I don't think it's Rick Hendricks fault. And besides Mark Martin shifted his car out of gear and stepped on the throttle too hard. I would blame it on his technicians for not setting the rev-limiter properly. But even an engine "not under load" could fail at R.P.M.s over 9,000
  • I'm disappointed but I don't think Hendrick is using Martin as a test driver at all. They just have some parts issues.
Remember Gibbs steering box issues last year when Kyle lost power steering on more than one occasion........
  • yes, i am. he had no right to let out that bull, and you could have gotten seriously injured. you should eat him.

    heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. hoooooooooooooooaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyeeee... heejeeheeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  • Rick just wants the cash that Martin and Jr. bring, it's a shame that he can't find it in him to give Martin decent cars
  • Do you have any proof for your reasoning? Any proof that he using Mark Martin is being used in that manner?

It either could be setups... remember every driver has their car setup to their liking.. so even if teammates share setups, they have their own driving style or a little tweak to it to meet that style.. that could be a factor...

    OR

Remember, the cars of Jr. and Martin are made in different shops.. not in ones Johnson and Gordon's are made.. you may question why.. maybe because theirs (JJ and JG's) were already established before the others.. and so the didn't have "room" to house and run 4 car shops... also, remember Jr. has had problems as well... in the last few weeks.. at least more than Johnson and especially Gordon.. them being in the same shop could be that reason.. maybe Martin's failed and Jr.'s today (for this race).. remember although Kenseth, Ragan, and Edwards had failures, Biffle and McMurray didn't..how fast broadband
  • Is the broken valve sping excuse getting old?

    May be...

  • Yes
  • you would think if that had that many broken springs, they would come up with better material. How about blame it on stuck lifter, broken timing belt, spun rod bearing, broken connecting rod, broke oil pump (dry sump of course), it's not like most people will understate what those parts are anyway.
  • So you want them to lie to make it more "colorful"? Do you think there making that up?

I don't think you understand what valve spring's do. When a valve spring breaks, the valve keepers fall out and the valve drops inside the cylinder which then mushroom's or breaks the rod not to mention pops a hole in the piston because the piston can't compress a huge chunk of metal. i.e the valve.

Spring rates and pressures are very critical and fined tuned to the lift and duration of the cam. There the most stressed part in any engine.
  • If I was the valve spring I would hire a lawyer and take the teams and the drivers to court for slander. The valve spring should also sue the motor oil and the carb that pushed so much fuel into the engine. The valve spring gets no respect what so ever.
  • Every time an engine blows, they try to say it's a broken valve sping. Of all the parts in a V-8 pushrod engine, couldn't they be a little more "colorful" and blame it on a mushroomed pushrod, seizure from heat, lubrication failure etc., instead of blaming it on a valve spring?
  • Maybe they need to change the rear end gears so they run so high of rpms....It,s just a quick excuse..
  • Faulty valve springs from the manufacturer, are a common problem..
I suspect, the lack of test laps this season is responsible for many
of the problems the teams are having, including the pit lane problems..
The less experience the team has with with a shipment of any part, the
less likely they are to uncover a fault, or weakness..
Valve springs are just about the weakest link in the valve train..
They are complex, mechanisms that can acquire microscopic flaws during manufacture.. This can result in catastrophic engine failure..
  • I agree with whatever you think because I know it is right and your crystal ball is amazing too. The valve spring excuse is getting real old in Nascar, I agree with you.
  • Honestly I think it is really a cover-up for teams that are experimenting with trying to get more power because of the limited testing doesn't allow time to try new things in practice so they have to sacrifice team members in actual race conditions.
  • I actually haven't heard that it was valve springs from anyone but FOX. It may be what some of the crews are saying, but you never know the real cause. It could be that one supplier makes most of the valve springs for Nascar teams, but seems unlikely that the problems would be this common for back to back races. I do know that Fox said that Mark Martins engine this week and JR's last week happened because the transmission jumped out of gear and the engine overrevved. Guess thats a possibility, but I have a hard time believing those engines would blow in a matter of a couple of seconds a good driver should take to notice his tranny is out of gear.
  • A failed valve spring is the most common cause of any push rod engine coming apart. It's called the root cause. They take a tremendous beating and any flaw, as is common in manufacturing, will weaken them. A broken valve spring is what causes a mushroomed rod. I have seen countless engines blow up as a result of overheating and it being reported as such. As for lubrication failure; Many times I have seen an engine fail as the result of an oil pump failure or something else going awry with the lubrication system. And heard that reported many times as well. So how about we deal with some reality? And they don't "always" blame it on a valve spring. Rash generalizations are dangerous and ignorant. Peace y'all
  • Seems to me there is something else contributing to the engines overrev. Juior last week, Matt, Mark, Jimmie and I forget who else this week.

A few of them had their transmissions pop out of gear, resulting in overrev, two laps later, blown engine. Yeah, broken valve springs, but the transmissions popping out of gear caused some of them.lt776s

Does Jeff Gordon officially suck after today?

    May be...

  • No he doesn't suck. He made a mistake in an attempt to pit, he obviously didn't do it on purpose. He is still an awesome driver.
  • He's first in points and missed pit road.Jeff still rebounded and finished 6th.
  • is that why he is first in points? idiot.
  • NO.....he is first in the points as of right now also.
  • Considering he finished 6th after blowing out a front tire and causing a caution, no he doesn't officially suck after today. He didn't suck before today either.
  • Just like it has already been said, he's leading the points, a very talented driver, and lets not forget, he
hasn't taken the green carrot and SOLD OUT TO TOYOTA!!!

  • dude i do not like him but he had a great finish with a tore up race car
  • I am definitely not a Gordon fan, but no, he does not suck. He was a contender in that race the entire time. Just had a little bad luck, and a slight mistiming on that last pit.
  • Uhh...he's leading the points now.
  • No and he never will. Sure, he had the pit issues and the tire blew. But he still did a great job considering his car had all that damage. He is obviously a great driver as he is the points leader.
