NASCAR vs. IndyCar?

May be...

  • Ya they have to be since they do run 200mph plus which is more than NASCAR.
  • The IndyCars weight less, hence there faster than NASCAR's cars.
  • Indy cars have a better turning radius and don't have to break as much. That is why they go faster. Indy cars don't neccessarily have more power, they just don't have to break as much as nascar does. And plus indy cars are lighter than nascar's cars
  • maybe more like 30 or 40 but when your going 200 whats the difference, and plus NASCAR rubs and bumps and pushes each other and if a Indy car even touches another car its done, and plus NASCARs are more like ruged and Indy cars seems like a little girl could drive it, and in indy races you know who is gonna win like with 5 laps left most of the time and not in NASCAR they fight all rubbin and stuff all the way till the end cause they dont have like 30 lap leads on everyone in INDY
  • Here are the different qualifying speeds for both Nascar & Indy Car (IRL) at Indianapolois Speedway where they both run each year.

IRL - 239.260 MPH by Arie Luyendyk in 1996
Nascar - 186.293 MPH by Casey Mears in 2004

So you're right - IRL is 50+ MPH faster than Nascar.
  • Yep, the Indy cars are way faster. But once an Indy car is wrecked, it's done for the day.
Cars in the NASCAR series, unless they're totally trashed, can be repaired. They can at least return to the race to collect points. Sometimes, they can still even win.
  • yes, there are large speed differences between nascar's cars and indycars. but they are completely different beasts. indycars weigh what, about half of what a COT weighs, but they have tons (literally) more downforce to hold them to the track. yesterday's interview with dario franchitti on trackside made that all very clear.
  • Indy cars are fun and fast, they just are not as good from a spectator point of view. They're more fun to drive ( but you actually have to be driving one ) But they can't configure a race track to make it exciting. NASCAR is based on more "real world" American automotive industry type racing and is more exciting to watch, because of all the passing and contact between the cars, on a track which can be viewed better by the spectators. NASCAR has more "bang for the buck" than any other motorsport on this planet.
  • Yes, Stock Cars are significantly slower than INDY cars. Look how sleek and aerodynamic those INDY cars are as compared to the big, heavy, 4-wheeled "bricks" in NASCAR. The Stock cars are also, literally, TWICE as heavy as an INDY car. Combine the big, heavy car with the fact that they don't create even half of the aerodynamic downforce of the INDYs and you will find that it is impossible to maintain the speed through corners without sliding off the track - just one of the many reasons that the NASCAR cars are slower. We do have an advantage - we can rub and beat and push and bang and "punt" each other. Try that you little open-wheeled b*st*rds!
  • yeah look at them
that dont make them better to watch though
  • INDY CAR IS MORE LIGHT THAN NASCAR CAR. Report It
  • Lets take Texas for example

    NASCAR gets 190
    INDY gets 220

so i say on averagre 30-50
  • YES..
  • JuneeeeeeeeeeeeeYeeeeeeeeeeer and Danica!

    What was the question!?
  • What are the speed diferences between NASCAR and IndyCar? Is NASCAR really 50+ mph slower than IndyCar at some tracks?
  • Joey Logano's Nationwide season?

    May be...

  • Not sure but today he said he is out of the car for only 3 weeks if that helps you out any. im sure he will only be back in for a short period of time but i doubt anything is set in stone, like he might race some races he wasnt sceduled to race
  • No sorry i dont.
  • wait for a little while like the end of the season LOL
  • Does anyone have a full list of the races he's racing in 2008?
  • Pick your nationwide winner at loudon today?

    May be...

  • Anybody but Kyle B.

    Bowyer
  • kyle busch seems to be on a streak hopefully it will end today
  • I want Brad but hes in 12th so Tony Stewart lol
  • tony stewart
  • In that case I'd better pick wisely and unbiased........ here's my script of the race:

Kyle Busch leads the most laps but drops a cylinder with 53 laps to go. Jason Leffler and Clint Bowyer battle until the yellow and everyone makes final pit stops, Denny Hamlin takes two tires, David Stremme and David Reutimann stay out. Hamlin passes Reutimann but Stremme is able to hold him off.

    1. Stremme
    2. Hamlin
    3. Bowyer
    4. Reutimann
    5. Harvick
  • #5 Landon Cassill
  • Mark me down for Biff.
  • Denny Hamlin
  • Kyle Busch, duh!
  • Tony stewart
  • 1driver only
the one with the winner or closest gets the 10 points
  • Clint Bowyer
  • bobby hamilton jr
  • why yall want to wait till the end and say you want tony stewart
    just plain sorriness Report It
  • tony stewart
    LOL
  • Clint Bowyer

If he wins, pick me as best answer

    Thanks in advance.
  • Carl Edwards
  • Indy 500 pace car question?

    May be...

  • I believe there were Honda Accords this year as Honda is the sole manufacturer of the IRL so to answer your question, yes.

Edit: I was wrong, they had Corvette's this year. I will now guess that they never did as GM seems to have it every year that I can remember.
  • Has there been any foreign pace cars in Indy 500?

    If not, why not?

  • They either used a Honda or a Corvette.
  • Why would anyone in their right mind want to go to a tractor pull?

    May be...

  • a ball gets hit back and forth for one hour no score or one zero now that's boring. a guy hits a little white ball than goes to chase it for 4 hours now thats boring
  • Its a tractot driving real fast for 15 seconds and then stopping, nothing about that is remotely interesting, i get why people like car racing, but tractor pulls, come on , why would you want to watch that crap?
  • I agree. I cannot see whats exciting about a tractor pull. But watching a NASCAR race....thats awesome!
  • Where else can you see a vehicle with 4 or 5 supercharged engines and huge paddle wheel tires. It's a great show of engineering and mechanical skills. Even at the beginner levels, there's still nothing like a Chevy V-8 turning 8,000 rpm. It's just a much slower version of drag racing.
  • I'm no fan of it, but a lot of times theres nothing better to do. A local town had a truck pull, not even tractors, and there had to be a few hundred people there at $10 each! Might have had something to do with the beer garden though. :P
  • Jeff Gordon fans would because they're gay.
  • Petrol heads will watch nearly everything that involves a vehicle with an engine. I once sat for hours watching lorries racing. I tell you, I could get right into that!!!!!!!
  • Rednecks. i live an hour noth of Detroit and they hold a lot of that crap around here, I wonder that too.
  • To each their own. Just about everything is worth doing once.
  • its just like why wold you watch soccer, you get suckered into it
  • Horsepower, baby..............the unlimited class has some of the most ingenious designs. Some just use several car engines, some use truck diesel engines, and some even use jet engines.................power, man.............
  • Drink beer, watch seven $50,000 engines blow up on one tarctor.
  • Earplugs??

    May be...

  • earplugs -hah
  • NO earplugs. Feel the thunder dude!!I
I have been to dozens of concerts and races sans earplugs (earplugs? no way) and have the poor hearing to show for it. Ha! Wait till I am 40. WHAT!!!!!!?????????
  • I totally agree with BOB, no earplugs..sit back and enjoy the true sounds of Nascar at it's finest!!!!

    good answer Rowdy's World..loved it!!!!!
  • I would go with the lower rating.
You want to still hear and feel the excitement.
  • neither the sound of the cars is what ya need bud
  • who needs earplugs?
It's nascar, enjoy the sound while your there!
  • use your earplugs for the four bangers with high pitched exhaust.
There is nothing like the rumble of V8 horsepower
  • 32 NRR is the best choice, dear!!
  • don't use earplugs....go with a scanner and a headset so you can listen in on the radio chatter!! Plus, the headset will drown out the roar of the engines!!
  • I don't use ear plugs..the noises and sounds are part of the whole experience!
  • Im going to the NASCAR race in Louden and i have two sets of earplugs, one 32 NRR and one 26 NRR. Which is better, and will these be okay for the NASCAR race Sunday?
  • Hell, in Nam we used cigarette butts, at a race earplugs are for little girls.
  • To all those who say no to earplugs, I say, "What?"
  • take them along, but try not to use them - there's nothing like hearing the roar and whine of those engines circling in your head while trying to sleep after you get home from the race.

now if they develop some earplugs to block out some of the noise in the nascar section here, those i would use...
  • if neither of them work try a set of but plugs.
    I use the clear ones
  • 32 NRR

Is dale jr racing in nationwide tommorow?

    May be...

  • just wanna know
  • No, Landin Cassill is driving the 5 car this weekend
  • No, he will be in the Nationwide race at Daytona next week though.
  • NOPE
  • Nope, Landon Cassell is in the #5 tomorrow..Dale Jr is driving the Nationwide race in Daytona next weekend...

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Who is your favorite nascar driver and why?

    May be...

  • Reed Sorenson, because not many people like him and he has potental
    GO #41!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • It's so funny to ask Dale JR fans this because they say they like him but don't have a reason. I just find that funny for some reason knowing that they like him because his dad and to follow the crowd.

My favorite is Clint Bowyer because he races hard and can be agressive if needed. And he is extremely consistent and has a good personality.

(Note Dale JR fans at the end it says "and why" but if you dont have a reason I guess that doesnt apply to you)

"I like dale JR because he loves racing.......DUH why would any of them be drivers if they didnt love it)
  • My favorite driver is Dale Jr.
  • Bobby Labonte will always be my favorite. I couldn't tell you what made me start liking him, I was pretty young. But, I still like him because he's a good, clean driver. Plus, he just seems to enjoy racing.
  • Mine was Dale Earnhardt Sr. cause he knew how to race wheels off his car. In my eyes will always be the best driver there was in nascar regardless of if others had more wins than him. Since his passing though I've been rooting for Dale Jr. Actually liked both him and his son before he died but they didn't make a big deal about Jr until Sr passed away I think.
  • Dale Jr. because he seems very laid back and nice. I also think he has handled himself very well considering all his popularity.
  • Jeff Gordon.....4-time champion!
  • Dale Jr.
He is a good racer, he doesn't try to wreck everyone in the field, and he is a classy guy.
  • Jamie McMurray.
  • Dale Jr as like a respect kind of thing to Dale Sr.
  • JR because I just like him alot being from the Charlotte area this is Earnhardt country and he is respectful and he know how to drive a race car!!!
  • Dale Junior. He loves racing, and is a class act.
  • Kevin Harvick. At first it was because my brother is a Kurt Busch fan and he hated him but now he's been my favorite because he can drive the wheels off a car and doesn't just "settle" for a finish when he knows he can pick up a few more positions.
  • Kyle Busch.........

    Why????

    HE:
    has a ton of talent
    Most exciting dude out there
    he is aggresive
a ton of personality that makes Nascar EXCITING
he has a hilarious sense of humor

    AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST......

He is the FUTURE of NASCAR!
  • jr
    because
you didnt tell us why you like patty matty
  • Carl Edwards
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. because he is a great guy.
  • Matty Kenseth he's consistent and he doesn't wreck every one
  • dale jr he is the best
  • Kyle Busch. i used to like Rusty Wallace but when he retired i had to find someone else. Wel like the first half of the season i liked the biff but i hated fords. so i decided to pick someone young and fresh.
  • Mark Martin because he is a driver that plays fair and doesnt do anything dirty and if he spins somebody out he apologizes
  • Tony Stewart Because he has a "take no prisoners" attitude. And so do I. And he is up front and speaks his mind.
  • Dale Jr
  • i like Matt Kenseth
  • Kyle Busch has a bad day???

    May be...

  • Wow. Some of you are coming down really hard on the video, and Jeff Gordon wasn't even in the video so I don't know why his sexual orientation even matters in this question. Live a little a little bit, and just enjoy the video. The church sign was absolutely hilarious.
  • Now all you people need to stop being bitter and jealous. I don't know why you need to be like that towards this years Sprint Cup Champion.

And for anyone who cares....Jeff Gordon is Gay...uses many accounts. Just report him and tell Y/A that he uses many accounts to vote for him self in answers. They hate that worse than anything. So if we all do it he can disappear like before and go down like Karate A B C D M etc....
  • Not to impressed with your name but the video was funny.
  • Ha ha ha very funny. Even I who hates Kyle to the core do not think that was funny. It makes me happy to see the pictures of him wrecking. But that's it.

By the way, Jeff Gordon's NOT gay.
  • P.R.I.C.E.L.E.S.S.

    That's a keeper.
  • i loved it!!..
  • that was the funnest thing i ever seen. i wonder if Kyle has seen it yet.
  • funny
  • Yes it is kinda funny but jeez cant we forget about it.... the young guy wrecked the most popular driver big deal
  • Your name is offensive and as you know won't last long around here Mr. just joined today to tro11. But I did enjoy your video! Now show us the one about Kyle Busch had a good day!!
    PEACE
  • Wow that was great.
  • Wow!! I feel like I'm back in middle school again!!
Couldn't have anything to do with the 8th grade mentality of some of my peers could it?

Oh well...He's still #1 in points and has won almost 1/3 of all the races thus far, so you can laugh at the video, I'll laugh at the fact that he's kickin' @ss on the racetrack!

Seems like a fair trade to me!!! :)
  • That was very funny. I don't dislike kyle busch but that was hilarious
  • Should Nascar teams have a cap on the money they are able to spend?

    May be...

  • I definitely don't think a cap is a good idea. Supply and demand is the best way to let businesses run. Less intervention.
  • I don't think a cap would work for our sport unless the bylaws were rock solid and even then teams would still find some kind of loophole.
  • YES
  • Just a thought, it would help improve competition. What do you think?
  • If you really want to increase competition, get rid of some of the tight regulations on how the car is designed. Let the teams experiment with their own modifications, and you will see more advancements and more failures.Money can only "buy" so much, but "application" is more of ingenuity, which to me is what racing is all about.
  • Great idea. Would be a way for the smaller teams to be able to compete with the super teams.
  • No actually, because I see its getting less and less popular.
  • Great question VP, this is not going to be a popular answer but oh well, I dont think having a "cap" salary or otherwise would work. Look at other sports that have caps and stuff and the owners no matter what the cap is always finds a way around it like restructuring things around to beat it. The caps also in other sports haven't evened up the playing field. The powerhouses of Nascar will always there no matter what they try to do. They have limited number of teams(2010), cut testing, went to the COT and its still the same teams week in and week out that are up front. I just dont think it could work to where we as Nascar fans would like to see all the teams powerhouses and on a even playing field.
  • YES! And then the struggling teams and the one owner teams would be able to really compete with the ones that have the better equipment. Can you imagine someone like Robby being in Victory Lane???

    What a great question!
  • I think that's a great idea! then the smaller teams would be able to keep up with the big boy teams!! Good question!! (maybe you ought to send your idea to Nascar, think it would do any good LOL)
  • A cap no. But they should go back to racing real production cars that the public can relate to.
  • Yes they should be allowed to spend no more than the Poorest driver can afford to spend.
  • Good question I will have to ponder on that one. If I had to answer right now I would say no. But I might change my mind. I will check back to see what others have to say.

    Go Dale Jr. 88
  • hmmm....I hadn't thought of that before. Every other sport does, nascar shouldn't be any different, and it would even out the playing field a little.
    So, should they? Yes.
    Will they? Probably not.

Is there any knock out qualifying for the New Hampshire race?

    May be...

  • Yes
  • yes
  • yes. There are 45 entries, and only 43 open spots.

So there will definetely be knock out qualifying.
  • yes look on nascar.com and click races
  • you talking about go or go homers
    i'm sure it is
if more than 43 cars show up
  • There always is.
  • Like Harvick Fan said, there are 45 entries to the race in New Hampshire this week... 43 will make the race, of course. That means 2 drivers from this list will go home:

    Patrick Carpentier
    Marcos Ambrose
    Tony Raines
    Dario Franchitti
    Terry Labonte*
    Scott Riggs
    Johnny Sauter
    Joe Nemechek
    AJ Allmendinger
    JJ Yeley

    * Terry Labonte is the only driver outside the top 35 who has a Champions provisional, so he is guaranteed a spot. Tony Raines is a long shot at making the race, so I would say either Franchitti or Ambrose will be the other driver from this list to not make the race this week...
  • Has any Driver even been fined for using foul language - - ?

    May be...

  • They can't fire you for that.
  • I'm sure tony stewart has slipped up and cursed one time or another on live tv. I thought he was going to curse marty out last week lol. If anybody has got fined by cursing, put your money on smoke
  • yes, dale jr last year
  • THey don't fine for what is said over team radios, because those coversations are meant only for the driver and crew and not for the general media. Every now and then, something does get caught on the air... but it's the networks fault for listening in.

Last year they played Kyle Petty dropping the f bomb... and that was on a replay, not live. That was totally the networks fault.

They only fine drivers when it happens in interviews, such as Jr saying a 4 letter word a few years back during the media interviews after the race.
  • I believe it's called oscea, that's O.S.C.E.A, which is a government program set up to monitor any over the air band radio conversation, the conversation's are taped, and since it's yhe government they have the legal right to listen in, it's been going on for year's, and will continue. hope this help's.
  • the only one i know of is crew chief todd parrot, he was talking on the radio but forgot he had a mic. on for tv.
  • There is an old saying... "Big Brother is listening"
Last yr Denny Hamlin and tony were talking back an forth, Denny said he should have spun out a driver so they could get up front... Tony said somethig to tthe fact... You better watch your self an to clearifie what you ment.
NASCAR heard what denny said, an had a few questions for him...
  • I think radio is different from TV in that sense. The guys don't get fined if they are bleeping to the crew during what is supposed to be a private conversation between the driver and crew.
In Loudon 2005, Robby Gordon called Mikey Waltrip a "piece of sh*t" remember that? The same year he threw his helmet at him.
They never bleeped that out either in all the replays.
  • Not that I have ever heard of. Do you remember when Kyle Petty was the in race reporter for TNT, at Infineon Raceway last year? They had just finished up the team prayer, before the drop of the green flag, and Kyle spun on the first lap. He dropped the f bomb and it didn't get bleeped out. The really funny thing was when they showed the replay they STILL didn't bleep it out! I laughed pretty hard at that one. With all the tension the drivers are under there is no way they should fine them for semi private communications with the spotter and crew chief. It would be like fining a carpenter for swearing when he hits his thumb with a hammer. In the heat of the moment it is not realistic to expect the drivers to act any differently than what the average person would in similar circumstances. Jr has been fined for swearing, even though it was not in anger, in a post race interview and Juan was fined last year for flipping the bird to camera guy when he thought they were not live on air but those are different situations entirely.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • teams arent penalize for radio chatter
  • on the team radio? I was listening to some things on Youtube yesterday and was wondering about that. I know that someone was fined for cussing, but I think it involved the media and violated a rule like detrimental to the something of Nascar?? Or is this just a catch all rule that can be applied as Nascar chooses to apply it?
    Thanks!
  • The only way a driver is fined for language over a team radio is if the transmission is aired on television otherwise it is perfectly legal,

a few years ago when R. Gordon and Michael Waltrip got into a scuffle Waltrip said something out of the way about R. Gordon and got fined because they were playing the team radio transmission on the television.
  • Teams can not be penalized for profanity over their radios. It is their form of communication and if you choose to listen, you are doing so at your own risk. Many teams even read a disclaimer prior to the start of the race including how the language may not be suitable. And, you hear a LOT of profanity on the scanners! There wouldn't be any teams left if they were penalized for this! They'd all be suspended!
The only time teams (namely drivers) are penalized from their in-car audio is when they mention a plot for retaliation and it "magically" occurs. This lets NASCAR know it was premeditated. And, the penalty is not for talking but for aggressive driving!
There is also a fine line for language penalties through media. Last year someone (Tony maybe) said a word that was picked up by a microphone, but it was not in an interview and not his fault. The only time they are generally penalized is if they talk into a microphone directly and say the word.
  • Several have been fined for cussing mostly during post race interviews.
  • i'm not sure but maybe tony stewart, i'm probably wrong.
  • none
  • They won't fine them for cussing over the radio. If you ever go to a race, get a scanner. 90% of them cuss over the radio. However, they do monitor radio traffic for drivers that are blasting NASCAR and officials. They do listen to them and I'm sure will have a "chat" with them if they deem it necessary.
  • NO
  • If Kurt Busch ever wins a race...?

    May be...

  • dont get the question but if you look back at the labontes they use to call bobby terry and vise versa if thats what your asking
  • Hypothetical situation, Kurt Busch winning...but it could happen.

They (announcers) would probably screw up the name. I think they would resort to saying 'your brother' and yes it would be tacky. Though the announcers got 'Carpentier' as Car part ier. I use to laugh when ever DW us to say it that way.
  • I never thought I'd say this I would hope Kurt would win I'd be happy if anyone would win but Kyle Busch.. but they get the Busch bros mixed up all the time ya it would be way funny and Kurt would be pissed!!!!
  • If it's Jimmy Spencer doing the interview, it would be his lead question.
  • I like Kyle, but Kurt has the brass ring. The 2K4 cup, so for now he is the older brother, the former champ, and has more wins. Kyle is gaining and will most likely have a cup or two of his own before he hangs up his helmet. I think that given the age difference, Kurt would be less hurt if he was called Kyle, than the other way around. Kurt would probably laugh it off, make a joke, or something.
  • first 30 seconds of the interveiw
  • Oh Im sure. It will happen in a heartbeat. The media nowadays is pityful.

If Kurt wins I will run around YA Nascar section naked!
  • How long do you think it will take the announcers or interviewers to say "Kyle Busch" or "your brother"?
I could see that happening and it would be so tacky.
  • it might even things up a little. they kept calling kyle "kurt" when he first came in the series... and some announcers still keep confusing them - even while they are watching them on the track (simple mnemonic - the one in the blue car with a big number "2" on it is "kurt," and the one in the lead is "kyle" ;-)

and nothing will top the "tackiness factor" of kyle forgetting his own girlfriend's name at the championship banquet two years ago and instead calling her kurt's wife's name, "eva."

how he got out of that hot water with erica (at the time) is beyond me.

    ;-)
  • Oh their will always be those comparing him to his brother.
Or because they talk about kyle so much and for so long they slip up and call Kurt, Kyle sometimes.
yes fluffy it would be tacky.
let's see if kurt wins a race and see what happens then.
  • I'm sure some bozo will screw up their names again someday, but in order to deserve an interview, Kurt will have to win a race first and get some attention. Don't see that happening anytime soon but it would be priceless to see a live interview where he got pi$$ed off after being called Kyle a couple of times. I would LMFAO!!!!!!!
  • they'll do the comparison immediately.
  • That would be pretty bad on Kurt's part, since he's the normal one and he deserves to be treated better than that... Although, I don't see him winning anytime soon...
  • Yeah, if he won this weekend it will go something like this....."Now that you have won your first race of the 2008 season Kyle...errrr, I mean Kurt, do you think you will win four more like your brother?"

    Tacky.
  • '07 all star race, Kyle wrecks Kurt, the commentator goes running up to Kurt with a microphone trying to get his attention for an interview, calls him Kyle 3 times before realizing it was Kurt.
Kurt wins, one of them will for sure screw up his name.
Depending on which commentator, some of the less intellegent ones, I give all of 12 seconds, those with an IQ over 50 maybe a minute, tops!
  • I don't understand your question. I think it would be tacky too.

  • Stanley with flames.....COOL!!!
  • The hot Stanley Tools with the flames!!!
  • For some reason, I like the Siemens scheme
  • I like the Stanley tools one witht he tribal flames on it. Its one of the coolest I have ever seen.
  • The garmin paint scheme is pretty freakin cool.
  • poor tony he had no place to go,(talladega vid)
  • The Stanley car...sharp lookin details. :`))
  • MMMmmm.....the Big Mack one, I am hungry, when's lunch?!

Really I like the Stanley one with the flames as well.

    Cool car, very cool driver!
  • Big Mac sure looks good to me but I'm hungry.
  • The Stanley car is awesome.
  • The Stanley Tools one. That is one fierce-looking car.

You can't intimidate your competitors with a car with a burger on it <grin.>
  • U23D
    lol
  • The Stanley car..
  • Definitely the Stanley one scheduled to run 13 races in '08.
  • Elliott Sadler paint scheme this year?

    http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2008/19cup...
  • All, honey
  • Stanley, black w/ yellow flames. That is one slick paint job, love it!

I hope Elliot has good luck at New Hampshire.
  • Yo I like the Jeff Gordon flames DOG!!!!!!!!!
  • I have one driver I hate for each manufactuer, except for Toyota, in which I have two -

    Toyota 1: Ky. Busch
    Toyota 2: JJ Yeley
    Ford: Carl Edwards
    Chevy: Kevin Harvick
    Dodge: Elliott Sadler

He was alright up until Dover. He causes everyone else to suffer for his own mistakes. He did it at Dover and costed Dale Jr. a good finish. Then he did it again at Infineon! He had a flat and got in everybody's way. Jr. was sixth on the last lap. Then that stupid 19 car in his way and costed him another good finish! He made him drop 6 spots to 12th! Because of him Jr. remains Top 10-less at Sonoma.

That was just some pointless bashing. Sorry.

My favorite paint scheme was Best Buy.
  • The Best Buy one

and the black with flames one.

    those are cool.

and the new Big Mac looks lol funny too...who would've thunk a burger could be on a car.
  • The Stanley Tool with flames is awesome looking. Too cool!
  • Compare your favorite driver today with a driver from the past?

    May be...

  • Jimmie Johnson (my favorite current driver) and David Pearson (my favorite all time driver) are similar in several ways. Neither one was an "in your face", force the issue kind of driver. A lot of times they would just hang back a little, avoid trouble and save their equipment. When the laps started winding down they could usually be found moving towards the front. They understood that to finish first, first you must first finish, better than most other drivers. They both have high winning percentages and continually finished as the champ or in contention for the championship.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • you can do as many as you want give explanations
  • Elliott Sadler is the reincarnation of Dale Earnhardt. Just kidding. He's more of a Mark Martin even though he still races. He would rather come in second than wreck someone even though he has been building up a reputation lately with is undeserved.
  • Tony Stewart as Cale Yarborough.

Tough as nails, but a big teddy bear off the track.
  • Rowdy reminds me most of my all time fav. Darrell Waltrip.
Darrell was very aggressive back in his day, move or be moved, (and he could dish it out, but hated taking it)
People thought he was arrogant, and cocky, and a bit of a hypocrite. He didn't get a nickname like "Jaws" for being the silent type. And they both have a very witty sense of humor..
It's one of the main reasons I picked Kyle as my favorite, he's like DW all over again..
  • It's kinda cliche, but Matt Kenseth is a lot like The Silver Fox because he can start close to the back, and all the sudden, he's up in front leading the race, and you're like, what the hell?
  • Again I ask, does anyone know the answer?

    May be...

And a big wet strawberry to the hater who had the first one removed!
  • I'm not really sure anyone's ever been fined for that before..
If he should've been, well...they missed their chance.
Don't dwell on such things, they'll only make ya crazy.
*sorry your first question got reported*
  • That guy makes a good point but that was 2 weeks ago, its not like JR is gonna win anytime soon until the next fuel mileage race........and last time I looked Kyle Busch is dominating NASCAR!!!! Let's just enjoy his dominance, fuel mileage races don't happen every week, Kyle will continue to win on skill alone, and we should just cheer for him. NASCAR has always been wishy-washy with the rules especially when it comes to JR. BUT WHO CARES BECAUSE KYLE IS MAKING HENDRICKS LOOK SILLY
  • Idk on that one.
  • Just so people would ask these type of questions.

    Looks like it worked.
  • just like laws ignorance of the rules is no excuse. after sundays drivers meeting nascar confirmed it was a violation. it was selectively enforced like rules have for many years. lets drop it and wait for the next nascar move that stirs the pot.
  • what -a big red strawberry
    i didnt do it
    your question is stupidly late
  • That horse is dead, quit beating on it people.
  • If the situation would've been reversed and Kasey was leading and passed the pace car, "Jr. nation" would've been going crazy wanting him to be penalized to the rear. Instead, NASCAR found a way to make the fans of the "golden boy" happy by letting him get away with something that is clearly stated in the rules, and giving him a win. I loved Dale Sr. when he raced, but Jr. is a middle of the road driver with good equipment at best. Yet everyone thinks he's the best thing ever. Go figure.
  • You are so freakin stupid. Why do you keep bringing this **** up? it's over you worthless moron. What the hell is the point of bringing it up over and over? Do you think that Nascar will see your ranting and say " oh this poor retarded guy, let's fine Jr., so the dummy can be happy"? It's not going to happen. So give it up stupid ****.
  • Jr Nation is the most OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE group of people I've ever seen.

If you so much as point out a fault in Mr. Messiah Dale Junior, be prepared to die, or be pelted with half-filled Budweiser cans.
  • The answer lies within you, my friend.
  • The answer is Nascar Officials let him get away with a warning. Get over it - Kyle will just keep winning and he has no need to pass the pace car - he's THAT good.
  • They warned him and he backed off. The worst they should have done would have been to black flag him. I'm not familiar with that rule though. Go CAT racing in '09.
  • 24.6.08

    Favourite f1 driver?

    May be...

  • Fernando Alonso and Robert Kubica!
  • .

    Senna.

Above, please note: SchMACKER, although a supreme talent, was a win at any cost cheat with a paucity of talent in uncompetitive machinery to compete against through the majority of his career.

I have "explained" this probably more times than the 7 times world champion.

SchMACKER couldn't overtake me in his Ferrari if I was driving a 1993 Nissan Micra 1.2GS. Why? Because I would wait until he was a third of the way past and "naturally" steer towards him and "ruthlessly" force him onto the grass, but, according to him, that's ok.....

.....Senna/Mansell side by side at 200mph, now THAT is RACING!!

    .
  • KIMI!!!! he's the man, doesn't care what anybody thinks, takes to losing well, can drive with an ear infection, wears gorilla suits, his interest aren't solely in F1

    HE's perfect!!

if only he didn't have a wife...Just kidding, or am I?
  • Lewis Hamilton as I'm a McLaren fan with English heritage.
  • My favourite of all time is Ayrton Senna.

My current favourite is Lewis Hamilton.
  • kimi or lewis
  • Kimi is a great driver, makes few mistakes and takes losing like a man as well as being absolutely hilarious. Now that's my style.

I guess you can't link to youtube from here so if you wanna see him being funny search it for "KIMI makes fun of reporter" and "Very Funny Kimi Raikkonen Interview in Brazil "

Reporter - "Tell us a little about the race"
Kimi - "There's going to be one"
  • Mika Hakkinen:)

Now? anyone who drives a McLaren first, then everyone else on the grid
  • I have a few and thats --
    Felipe Massa
    Rubens Barrichello
    Jean ALesi
    Kimi Raikkonen
    Mika Hakkieneon
but its Michael Schumacher hes my best one of all, dont say he is a cheater because he isnt he has explained this many times by saying you have to be ruthless on the tracks. he isnt cold hearted like a robot as Damon Hill says. he is a driver who cares about everyone not only his fans but other people, i will give you example there was a fan a elderly gentleman and his wife at one of his racers he was a dedicated supporter then something happened he collasped they got him a ambulance he was rushed into the nearest hospital he went into a coma michael was told about this he went straight to the hospital where the old mans wife was she was so upset , he asked what happened they explained it. he leave the old mans wife crying so he went home and got a cassette tape and repeatedly said on the tape hello this is michael schumacher come on wake up . he found out where the wife lived and sent the tape by post with a letter telling her to play the tape over and over again everytime you visit him, so she did. over the period of a week he recovered, she was so pleased the old mans wife and contacted michael, the following race michael invited the old man and his wife to his motorhome for dinner. this tells you michael has a kind heart. he has helped me with my book so i know he is the best.
  • Who should driver the 10 car at Pocono?

    May be...

  • It looks like it will be Bill Elliott but I say give Chase Miller a chance, on second thought, he was a pinball at Milwalkee and Bill Elliott's got the past champion's provisional. Who do you think should drive?
  • Ken Shrader should drive it
  • Whats wrong with leaving Carpentier in the 10? For someone with as limited experience in Stock Cars as he has, I think he has done a pretty decent job. The more time he gets in the seat, the better off he will be. In fact, I think they should be putting him into the Nationwide races as well, especially the ones when Nationwide and the Sprint Cup races are being held at the same track...
  • Bill Elliot is probably the best chance of doing any good for them.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Elliott's past provisional will be trumped by T. Labonte's past provisional if it comes down to that so maybe Elliott isn't the best choice. Terry has two more races in the 45.
  • They need to save it as a third car for Elliott... Sadler that is...lol

J/K yah man. I say stick Bill in.

    T
  • What happened to Patrick Carpentier?
  • Auggie Vidovich should drive it
  • Bill, that would probably be the best.

    Good ol Bill Elliott
  • nobody
  • Patrick Carpentier should stay in the car. If anything he seems to be able to get the car in the show every week. This is just me, but GEM needs to stay loyal with their drivers they have and not flip flop. My opinion is biased as I am a Dodge fan.

OH yeah, that #19 GEM guy is not too shabby either.
  • Ok so....i am soo sick and tired!!?

    May be...

  • well i am sick and tired of people bashing kyle busch, just because they can't get over the fact that he is clearly the best driver out there.

LMAO!! Heidi-Ho thats hilarious!! You get a thumbs up from me!
  • Don't worry. Once Joey Lagano gets some more starts in the NW (and maybe cup?) series he'll be the new Kyle Busch that everyone is sick of hearing of but can't stop talking about.
  • That's just racing boy. You know where the channel changer is if you don't like it.
  • My Fav is Jimmie. And everyone was sick of him last year when he dominated also. Next year they will be talking about someone esle. GO 48!
I like Kyle, so i'm not sick of it. You have to give it to him, he's a great driver. i liked him when he was a Hendrick. People hated him and now all of a sudden they like him because he's winning. Doesn't really make sense. You should stick with your fav driver no matter what.
  • kyle is one of my favorites and i agree with you. the announcers talk about jr. all the time to even when hes running midpack. its all about the marketing. its a shame how bad NASCAR has been commercialized anymore. f'en sellouts. lets go dirt tracken.
  • Kyle is lucky with 5 wins already? Being first in points, he can get as much coverage as they give him, and it still not be enough. Jeff Burton is a guy that doesn't get much coverage and he is sitting 2nd in points.

What makes Jr. and Gordon (I am a big fan of Gordon) deserve all the coverage? They have one win total this season between them, so how should they recieve more than Kyle...I bet you never complained when Gordon and Jr. got all the coverage last year. It's about time NASCAR starts giving other people some coverage that are just as, if not more deserving.

  • Lets talk about Matt Kenseth and his climb into the top 12 from struggling early in the year.
  • The guys that are doing the best, or the 'bad boys' get the most coverage, that is just a fact. If you are a loyal Jeff Gordon fan than you know that. Gordon has been on top in the points, ratings & coverage just about since the day he strapped himself into a stock car. So you know it's just a matter of time and ole Gordo will be back in the news. Kyle Bush is hot right now and deserves the coverage he gets. Like him or not it is what it is.
  • no i like hearing about someone other than jr
  • I agree with you 100%. I get tired of all the hypocrites too...Jr wins and it's "Nascar fixes races" blah blah blah..but there's nothing wrong with getting all the "perks" that Nascar gives JGR.

I'll be the first to admit that it takes luck to win races, otherwise Jr would still be on his winless streak. But easily, 3 of 5 wins for Shrub can be chalked up to pure luck more than skill/talent.

Darlington-lucky it's the new car, because the old car wouldn't have survived his plowing in the wall like he did.

Dover-Lucky so many other competitive cars were taken out so early in the race.

Sears Point-Lucky he pitted early, lucky the caution fell when it did....TWO times.

I have no problem giving him Atlanta and Dega on racing merit alone, can't do it with the other 3.
  • He is first in the points, and has been the majority of the season so far. He has five wins. It's only natural that everybody talks about him the most. I don't like him either, but he deserves the air time that he is getting.

I do wish some other drivers would get mentioned more. Jeff Burton has done well all year, and they hardly ever mention him.
  • Do you get MAD when they talk about JEFF GORDIN and DALE JR?

HE is FIRST in points he EARNS the COVRAGE

Some peeple got mad when THEY only talked ABOUT JR
  • He is the HOTTEST driver in NASCAR at the moment. I got tired of hearing about HMS last year, but they were the ones winning.

He DOMINATED this weeks race... that was not luck. And NASCAR didn't through a caution to give him the win.
  • I am Happy to say that I am a very loyal Jeff Gordon fan.....and i am sorry but i am sooo sick and tired of ppl talking about Kyle Busch..i mean there are 42 other drivers in the field....but i will say this...i did like the fact that at Sears Point Kyle did race Jeff clean earlier in the race....i didnt have to worry about kyle wrecking jeff bc kyle was always way out front....(not that i liked that lol....not a realy big fan of kyle if you havent noticed)but is ne1 else getting tired of hearing about kyle busch!
  • Ny-Quil!!
It'll take care of your sickness, and it'll help you get your zzz's
No more sick and tired, glad I could help :)
  • well first off..
if you're sick of people talking about him so much..
why are you talking about him right now?

&...Kyle is 1st in points! i think he has earned his coverage that he's getting.

    Rowdy
    Rowdy
    Rowdy
    Rowdy

    =]
  • Well the guy has won 5 races and leads the points. When he doesnt win, he crashes someone and makes a a**hole of himself in his interview. He is Nascar right now, like it or not. And I dont think he has been lucky in his wins. Actually, if he had some luck, he could have won more times, unfortunately. You should try being a Kenseth fan if you really want to hear NOTHING about your driver!
  • Yes you are a true Rainbow Weenie (Jeff Gorden) fan. Do you want some cheese with your whine?
  • For somebody that is sick of hearing about KYLE BUSCH, you mentioned KYLE BUSCH's name 7 times in the two rants you posted.
Besides, if you are sick of hearing about KYLE BUSCH, why are you talking about KYLE BUSCH?

KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!!! KYLE BUSCH ROCKS!!! KYLE BUSH ROCKS!!!
  • He is in first place and he deserves to be talked about..But dang it Jeff Burton is in 2nd place, and nobody hardly ever mentions him, and I'm already sick of Logano and he has not even driven a cup race yet.. Just remember once the chase starts it will be nothing but the top 12, and then the top 5 will get the most coverage.. So once the chase starts if your driver isn't in the top 12, he better win some races as nothing matters but the top 12.. A bunch of us were talking about this last night, I just wish the media could remember that theres more drivers out there, I'm looking forward to the replay of the race on thursday so I can see it, since I was at the race, and pretty much just got to see the stuff close to where TNT's booth was.. Kyle is in first place, so if you do not like hearing about him..You should have a mute button on the remote..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Nascar Nation...?

    May be...

  • The part where Harvick wrecked everyone XD
  • 1) Jeff Gordon coming in 3rd.

    2) President of Nascar Nation has interesting answers and adds a lot to the forum. Cheers to you Mr. President.
  • I didn't get to see much of the race I was at work and came home and caught the last few laps. But what I saw was good and good to see some different names in the top 10 instead of the ones that are always there. I like it when they shake it up and different people get to fun up front.

All hail to the chief and maybe the President ought to think about the real presidency I mean look who we have got it can't be any worse.
  • Ambrose spinning JPM and JPM blaming somedody else again for something he did..Ambrose had no where to go when JPM cut him off
    RIP George Carlin
  • i got to say the three car pileup. i hate harvick. first for taking it away from martin and now spinning out stewart
  • I did not have a favorite moment. My day was going good until Harvick wrecked and took out 3 other cars in the process.
  • that clip pres of NASCAR nation was sweet, they showed a clip of that b4 the race on sunday

but i like watkins glenn better than infineon
  • I hate Infineon. I guess it'd have to be Kyle Busch spinning last year. Or this year when he qualified so bad.
  • When it was over. Road course "following" sucks.

Another self appointed President...gotta respect that! Enjoy your day...it's tough being prez, try to relax.

Thanks for the nice words WG....*fawns over Winter* :)~

This is the chaos that occurs when people steal monikers!
  • The Kevin Harvick "incident". Proves, once again, anyone can have a bad day, even Happy Harvick.
  • What was your favorite moment from Infineon?

    Today we will honor...

Our Commander in Chief, President of Nascar Nation

The honoree gets to pick bect answer via email to me. No trolls allowed.
  • Ha! Tony Stewart's Post race interview... what a prick... he will never change
  • My favorite moment would be was when Harvick took out Jamie Mack then Stewart nd then Ron Fellows.

I dont mean favorite like, yes now they cant win, i mean favorite like a real turning point. Cause i like seeing the roushketeers do good especially a struggling i like Jamie.

My most hated moment happened twice like Deja vu when Carl Edwards got a caution at the wrong time.
  • Hmm, my favorite moment was when Dale Jr let Juan go by and he told his spotter to tell him to go. Then he clarified what he meant and said "tell Juan to go make a hole for me. He's a pro." That and when Jimmie led his laps, before the 48 team got screwed on the pit cycles and the way the cautions fell. Congrats to the President of NASCAR Nation.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  • GoodYear / Infineon ?

    May be...

  • except for one thing. They were only topping out at about 130 m.p.h. Even Firestone could make a tire that could handle that. But thanks to Goodyear for their contribution anyway. Like anyone else has an opportunity to receive any credit. oops, did I just say that?
  • Not speaking for Elliott Sadler... but would you tip your hat to
GoodYear for bringing the right stuff, this past weekend??
I gotta give it to them this week !! Not that it makes up for the Atlanta race !! lol
  • And it only took them 16 races!!! Okay, they did a good job..
  • Yes finally they got it right, yeah a road course, and a long way from Atlanta huh Snake.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

What Kind of Helmet did DArrell Waltrip use in the 1980's?

    May be...

  • A White, open-faced one, with a ''JAWS'' bobblehead on the top of it !!
  • open faced with goggles
  • probably a Bell
  • an open faced Bell.
Pretty much standard fare for NASCAR in the '80's
  • A hard one.
Probably an open face one. Not sure what you are asking.
  • Who thinks that Kevin Harvick....?

    May be...

  • LOL this is the most Kevin Harvick questions I've seen all year.

And yes I feel horrible not only for Jamie, but for Tony too. And like I said before I'm sure no one feels worse about it than Kevin himself. Anyone than watched it could tell that it wasn't intentional and he just made a mistake, a very BIG mistake, that cost not only himself but 3 other drivers an awesome finish. It's a shame it happened but its over with. Kevin already took full responsibility for the wreck and personally apologized to everyone involved.

    On to New Hampshire.........
  • Unfortunately, and this is coming from one of Kevin Harvick's strongest supporters and biggest fans, he royally screwed up yesterday. He took full blame and admitted that he lost control for some reason as he was about to go around the turn and his car "wheel-hopped". He personally apologized to McMurray and Tony Stewart.
In his younger days, I would say that if something happened previously and then this happened, that he was doing it on purpose. Now though , that he is older , wiser, and more mature, he really is truly sorry for this. Not only did he ruin Stewart and McMurray's day, he also ruined his own top 5 run.
Unfortunately, Harvick is going to hear about this one for a while.
  • Harv is a little pit stinker. Not as bad as Kyle, but close. I always hated him. All the Jr. fans (me too) always focus on how disrespectful Kyle Busch is (and they're right) but how about Harv? He called the other drivers 18-year old punks.

The worst part about it is he used the word 18!

And yes, Harv SHOULD get his Shell away from Jamie Mac's Industrial Tools if you know what I mean.

Notice I said SHOULD. He probably won't.
  • Hey, Maybe Its Jamie's Fault He Got In Kevin's Way!
  • It was a racing deal and Harvick is usually much better than that on a road course................It's over, all the way across the board.
  • I have been a dedicated fan of Kevin since he started in the Busch series, and while I agree that it was a boneheaded move (as stated in another answer), it was certainly not intentional. Why would anyone WANT to do something that would cause them to finish 30th instead of in the top 5, and drop themselves to 13th in points???

    Move on....
  • Wasn't on purpose or recklessly. He went into that turn to "hot", lost it.
He and Tony Stewart are best friends, it was not intentional.

We used to see similar "things" between Dale Earnhardt Sr & DW (Darrel Waltrip), Rusty Wallace & Jeff Gordon.
  • I'm really of the opinion that Harvick just drove the car into the turn to hard and wheel hopped it causing him to get into Jamie and him getting into Stewart. It was at the end of the race and brakes were getting wore out, the adrenaline was pumping being that it was close to the end of the race so I think it was a accident.
  • Needs to stay as far away from Jamie McMurray. Sonoma was atleast the second time that Harvick has caused McMurray to have a bad finish. Watkins Glenn last year too, when he was up there and contending for a win.

**sorry if this sounds like whining but it is very discouraging to see Harvick do that to him twice.
  • I DO BELEIVE HARVICK LOST HIS BRAKES
  • How many pole positions has Leewis Hamilton had in his F1 carreer ?

    May be...

  • 1. Canada 2007
    2. USA 2007
    3. UK 2007
    4. Japan 2007
    5. China 2007
    6. Australia 2008
    7. Canada 2008
  • Yes, Julian is right.

In fact, Monaco is the only time Hamilton has won a race when not on pole, with 6 wins in total for his career so far.
  • Julian's got it, but lmfao at Robb
  • He missed going up the back end of a Pole in Canada!
  • Are Junior and Rowdy the only two drivers in NASCAR?

    May be...

  • No but Kyle Busch is the #1 driver in NASCAR
  • Ummm.... No.

That's the answer to the only question you asked. Thanks!

    GOOOOOOOOOO J Gordon!
  • Junior and Kyle Busch aren't the only drivers.

Tony Stewart is also robbed of victory flat tire spun by Harvick etc. etc. He Could have 2 at least maybe even 4 wins if not for wrecks and flat tires.

Johnson and Gordon are just having a bad year 1 win each this year, last year it was 9 wins in 18 races or something like that.
  • NASCAR has five drivers: Kyle Busch, Dale Junior, Gilligan, John Cena and the black guy.
  • tony but he seems to get robbed of a victory each week
  • ok, let's talk about their "proteges" - joey logano and brad keselowski!!!

i can't get enough of them either...

    ;-)
  • Who would you rather talk about?
  • No, my favorite driver is Kurt Busch. I kinda like the way he has kept his name out of the headlines. Well for one he hasnt done anything to put his name in the headlines. LOL There are 41 other drivers in Nascar that deserved to be talked about as well.( I.E) Greg Biffle, Jamie Mcmurray, Matt Kenseth, Elliott Sadler, Kasey Kahne just to name a few.
  • Seems that way huh? But I agree with ya. And with Kyle winning every other week and Jr. being.... well... Jr. your pretty much outnumbered here most of the time.
  • No, there's also David Gilliland.
  • The way some people talk on this board, you would think that... I mean, come on...

Not to say I don't like either of them... not a big fan of Junior but he has his merits, and as for Mr. Busch, he's definitely one to watch out for, but come on, there is other talent in the sport.
  • Nope just JR he is the only that counts ha ha

Kyle is just there circling the track, he has not made the important step into being noticed yet..

he is just laying in the busches, get it, Kyle Busch, waiting turn, which will never come....
  • It gets that way around here sometimes.
And I agree, even as Kyle's fan, I still like to talk about other drivers every once in awhile..
  • I saw a question about Gilliland today...and one about Marlin last week....
  • Hmmm. Most of the time people don't ask questions about other drivers. I mean if someone wants to mention another driver and I feel I can contribute something informative to the question then I would most definitely do it.

Most drivers that I have some knowledge of are Dale Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, learning about Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, and a few more top name drivers.

A lot of times even though I am a fan of Dale Jr I try to stay away from questions about him to keep from being overly bias. I probably answer more about other drivers and look up things I don't know. If you want to ask a question about some off the wall driver I am sure there are some people that are qualified to answer or willing to find the answer.

I answered one earlier about a bar in California and I live in Mississippi. I even called the number and asked the sports bar a question for the person to help answer his question. I'll be glad to do the same for you too. Fire away.
  • Point well taken Jozi. Unfortunately it seems that this forum isn't about the exchange of information anymore. It's become a place for ridiculous people to spout ridiculous garbage and get ridiculous responses by ridiculous people. I see, hear and read stuff about many other drivers on a daily basis. But it seems that people here don't like reality. For some twisted reason they get off on acrimony and enjoy polluting what is supposed to be a place where we can all exchange info and opinions in a supportive environment. One could never tell by reading the crap here that we are all fans of the same sport. So be proud of yourselves folks. You have proven to the NASCAR haters that we are a bunch of morons. The past heroes of the sport are probably rolling over in their graves right now.
  • 22.6.08

Ok, I hate Tony Stewart but wasnt he just screwed?

    May be...

  • Ok, I am a 24/48/88 fan and I am happy about Stewies wreck because it helped Jeff but...

When Stewie wrecked on the last few laps he was in first, the catution came out right then, so shouldnt Stewie be placed in first for the restart?

Also, do you all like this track? I used to love it, but its not fun watching on TV
  • i dont like this track and i feel bad for tony but what he just did in that interview with marty snider (possibly one of the nicest interviewers in NASCAR) is so upsetting he sort of deserved that...that just sucks
  • He wasn't in first. He was in second there for a few minutes, but then he got nudged and fell far behind. Hate is a strong word. Surely you don't "hate" Tony..... lol

I find this track interesting. Not my favorite, but I don't dislike it either.
  • He wasn't in first but could have gotten there if he wasn't screwed by Harvick and his bad break job.

Honestly, all the braking and turns make the race go slower to me. Pretty much boring.
  • Besides the unecesity of you posting hate towards a driver, great point, just too bad I guess. Theres so many factors in racing, it cant all be controlled perfectly, ya know? Well, go Stewart!
  • he was in second, he had somethin 4 that 18 car 2, but the guy has had terrible luck this year just look back startin @ daytona this yr
  • dude he was not in first and yes he was screwed over by the worst driver ever kevin harvick i dont think stewart should have to pay for kevin being the worst driver in nascar
  • He was not in first. Kyle was.
  • Isn't the new Elliott Sadler commercial hilarious?

    May be...

  • Oh-- agent Sadler just saw it for the 6th time. It is a hoot. Glasses and that silly wig; rolling around on the concrete like a spy within the pumps of a gas station.

We better have our stickers on so we can win and maybe see Elliot again in the wig.
  • I love the Elliot Sadler commercial...it cracked me up! ♥
  • You know, the commercial with Sadler wearing that ridiculous wig? I love it.
  • Yea lol i loved it too lol then when he gets in the trash can lol and then when he does like that flip thing lol yea it was pretty funny!
  • yes the Sunoco commercial..but 1 thing there is no Sunoco sstation close to me
  • LMAO when I saw it. He really does have a lot of personality. Perfect role for him!

    Go Jr>>>>
  • haven't seen it yet

  • Why was there not a sand trap at the end of the englishtown track? A concrete barrier WTF R.I.P Scott?

    May be...

  • It is a very sad day. I pray for his family and friends that they know Scott is in a better place and they know that there are many praying for them. Lets hope they fix the drag strip so this will never happen again. It is a shame that drivers have to die before change ever happens. Look at how long it took NASCAR to fix the problems with head on crashes into the walls? It took Dale Sr's death.
  • THere was one but just like several racers said, this has not been lengthened in forever even though the cars are going faster. They need to extend the length at the end. RIP Scott Kalitta
  • There is, but he was going so fast he went through it and the catch fencing. The engine apparently exploded ripping the back half of the body off, taking the chutes with it. He couldn't stop basically. God speed Scott, you will not be forgotten.
  • There IS a sand trap at Englishtown. The rear of Scott's car was blown off, he couldn't slow down from 300 mph.
A similar crash happened two years ago at US-131 Dragway in western Michigan, the funny car went through the sand trap and into a forest of trees. During a Super Chevy show. The guy had minor injuries.
Since then, they lengthened the sand trap and got permission to remove trees (none were old growth, their property. They also installed a second catch fence after the sand trap.

God speed, Scott. Race in peace. Maybe you and Dale will meet.
  • A sad day in racing! just hope they look into this and make improvements to all tracks! your in the company of some of the best you will be missed!
  • From what I could see there is a sand trap and net but behind them is a concrete barrier. That's what he hit and his car exploded. The sand trap and net works only if they are slowing down but when they hit it wide open it's not nearly enough.
  • I agree, looks like the "sand trap" is basically non-existent, maybe a car length or two long at most and then terminating into a concrete wall.

Usually (you pick the organization), it takes a fatal incident for people to pony up the money to fix obvious safety flaws like this.
  • Who was the race car driver who died yesterday?

    May be...

  • ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Scott Kalitta died Saturday when his Funny Car crashed and burst into flames during the final round of qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The NHRA said the 46-year-old Kalitta вЂ" the 1994 and 1995 Top Fuel season champion who had 18 career victories, 17 in Top Fuel and one in Funny Car вЂ" was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, where he died a short time later.

Witnesses told The Star-Ledger of Newark that Kalitta's Toyota Solara was traveling at an estimated speed of 300 mph when the crash occurred.

The Palmetto, Fla., resident started his career at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in 1982. His father, Connie Kalitta, was a longtime driver and team owner known as "The Bounty Hunter," and his cousin, Doug Kalitta, also drives competitively.

Scott Kalitta is survived by wife Kathy and sons Corey and Colin.

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Brad Keselowski вЂ" a native of Rochester Hills, Mich., about 20 miles away from Kalitta's hometown of Mount Clemens вЂ" learned the news from a television report Saturday afternoon.

"That really hits close to home," Keselowski said after winning the pole position for Saturday night's race at the Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis. "(He was) a friend of my family's, and I send my thoughts and prayers out to him. That's tough to hear."

Last year, Funny Car driver Eric Medlen died after an accident in a testing session at Gainesville, Fla.
  • Any info .. Thanks..
  • Scott Kalitta
  • R.I.P. Scott Kalitta...Simply Horrifying Crash. Comments?

  • Where is the sand trap at the end of the track???????
A concrete barrier stops you the wrong way WTF R.I.P Scott
  • The only people watch racing is for the crashes.
  • Yes a horrible way to pass on.
    Condolences to family and friends.
  • I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix I remember that awful crash, yeah it was a terrible one its up there with the worse that I have seen. Scotts crash was bad. But then we all have to step back and think...these great guys do this because they love what they are doing., its a terrible price to pay, to die at what you love doing, drag racing has had some bad crashes here recently, but then they know the danger, its a passion people have doing what they love..I tried to tell myself over and over and over when Dale Sr died in Daytona, how many yrs has it been, every year when the Daytona 500 comes around I get goose bumps and I always remember that last lap in 2001, before the green flag falls,, We all are fans of our drivers and every day we know once they strap in, well something could happen...Its a dangerous sport, I've lost 2 cousins and a uncle to auto racing, but they died doing what they love...It never makes it easy..R.I.P Scott.. NHRA and all your fans will miss you...
  • --AWFUL. awful to think of what was going
on inside that burning car--he did not activate the chute because the jet fuel was burning him
    up. poor scott. awful, awful.
  • I tell you what...I have been an auto racing fan for over 40 years and I have seen some horrifying crashes, like Clay Regazzoni at the Long Beach GP, but this is the absolute worst. I have never, ever seen such devastation. Condolences to his family.
