A very difficult question indeed. I guess a lot would depend on which manufacturer will be willing to spend money on racing. We aren't in 2010 yet. Don't worry about it. More than likely the numbers from 2009 would be the same in 2010 unless the big 3 are forced to pull out due to financial woes or if some teams switch manufacturers during the off season.m30 thread

I have never rated Dario because I'm not too hip on Indy, but I appreciate all forms of motorsports. Two different kinds of cars and racing. I never rate anybody I don't know. And Indy Car, and do you rate Dario Franchetti. I'm not sure but Dale Earnhart Junior is a no talent bum and the idiots that delete questions about him suck.. The rules are different.. Indy cars are half the weight, with much bigger tires.. The lighter car is much more "twitchy", requiring a much lighter touch by the driver.. Stock cars have roofs, making it much hotter for the driver.. Indy cars are "aero" dependent.. That means that they depend on the wings, and other downforce devices for good for good handling on the race track.. It is said that Indy cars generate so much downforce, they could drive on the ceiling at any speed over ninety mph.. Stock cars have wings, but they are much smaller, and only add a little stability, generating very little downforce.. This allows Indy cars to go much faster than stock cars on the same tracks.. Driving any car as fast as it can go, is a very difficult thing to do, both mentally, and physically.. It just requires different techniques..
Dario is a very fine driver, and would have done well in NASCAR, if he would have worked for an owner that could have secured sponsorship willing to to stick with him long enough to develop those techniques.. The discipline needed to drive an Indy car is almost the opposite of that of a stock car, and takes time to adapt to.. Indy cars are fast and boring. There's no action and only like 5 drivers can win. Nascar is slower and more exciting. There are a lot more crashes, and more competitiveness. Dario Franchitti sucks as a Nascar driver, 2 out of 10, but as an Indy Car driver, 9 out of 10. Kyle Busch has been talking about Formula One. Maybe he'll switch over and we won't have to watch him anymore. Those are the only drivers "smooth" enough, but they are way over the hill for F1.. NASCAR to F1- Kyle Busch.
F1 to NASCAR- Fernando Alonso...he doesn't have much of a NASCAR personality though, lol..(not the most PC guy out there ya know) Kyle Busch has about as much finesse as a bull in a china shop. He'd tear up a lot of cars and do a lot of pouty interviews.
Unless they land in a top-tier ride there isn't a single NASCAR driver who'd do well in Formula-1. There's no parity in that series.
Now, given a decent ride and a good weight-loss program, Tony Stewart could do well in F-1.
I'd like to see what Sebastien Bourdais could do in NASCAR. Juan Pablo Montoya Kyle Busch, big time he has the sore looser attitude, and smart mouth, and the dude can drive the wheels off anything. If I were a F1 driver I would be scared. As far as F1 drivers coming to Nascar, I think Timo Glock or Jenson Button would do pretty good. Or Kyle Busch and Alonzo could just trade places, they both are cry babies and sore looser when they do not win, but Alonzo would not be as successful as Kyle Busch would be in F1, Kyle is more determined, than Alonzo, he would just run off with his Victoria Secret Model girlfriend to a secluded island somewhere. I'd put money on Rowdy being sucessful in F1.

Just like I don't think Tennis or Walking are real sports. Well, if he's a top contributor, he probably knows what he's talking about. Who cares? If you enjoy racing, watch it and don't worry about whether somebody thinks it's a sport or not. It's like wasting your time worrying whether you'll be able to pick up new batteries for your one true love from the open all night convenience store. Talk about can't get a date! Some people say NASCAR isn’t a real sport, and yet this is a place where real men strap into 800 horsepower beasts for 4 hours in 110 degree temperatures at 200 miles an hour. As a Nascar fan and someone who really doesn't listen to that genre of music, I would never take it upon myself to go over there and ask "How is Rap music?" That would be ignorant on my part and just not polite. Ignorance, plain and simple. And not embarrassed by it, apparently. I like the sounds of that =D I'm excited!!! They will be going to double file restarts, AND along with implementing that rule, they will be getting rid of that pit stop rule that only allows gas or tires per stop.
I know that rule was designed to save teams money, but it caused too much problems...what do you think? The new double file restart rule is just great !!
The rule for only gas or tires when pitting is utter stupidity !!!!!!!!!!! I think that is a great idea to get rid of the gas or tire only rule. That was just plain ridiculous for nascar to implement that rule. Every time one goes down pit road there is a chance for a �problem’ so bringing them down twice seemed to be doubling the chance for a problem and made no sense even if it was to save $. I am glad nascar wised up to that. As for the double file restarts. Cool, I can’t wait! the double file restarts are gonna be awesome, the trucks already have more exciting races than cup so im excited for that and the pit stop rule was retarded in the first place and shoulda been gone months ago! i can see the money side of it but that was a little over-board!! but im happy to see nascar changing the rules That's double the good news! I think that it is definitely a benefit as far as potential rain-outs. It is easier to have Sunday as a back-up day as opposed to Monday. Once football season starts up this could also help NASCAR's ratings instead of competing against Sunday football. I grew up watching races Sunday afternoon so I resisted the Saturday night races. But now I've gotten used to them and since I live in Florida, I appreciate the Saturday night Daytona races a lot more. The weather is typically in the mid eighties rather than the high nineties, which is a lot more comfortable.
I do think the decision was strictly business, and a good decision for Nascar and fans alike. It's their fault. Nascar has no dome, and there is no possible way they could race in a dome.
Don't buy a ticket to a race if you can't watch it all or most of it Monday.
We ALWAYS book Monday off, cause not only do we go home Monday morning, (home by 1pm at the latest) but if it rains Sunday we can see the race Monday.
You have like 8 months advance notice (if you go to the same race every year and know you're going again) to book the weekend off. With that much time there is no reason not to get it off.
If they listen to the fans complaining races wouldn't start after 2pm Sunday Afternoon. They'll start at Noon or 12:30 like they did in the glory days. Not really. I think the real reason for Nascar having more night races is the prime time TV sponsorship. Plus, fans do like watching races under the lights. I don't see many more being added to the current schedule, though. Not every track has lights and there's the scheduling conflict with Nationwide. If I remember, theres only one Cup race so far this year that was run on Monday, and that was the 600 at Lowes. Theres been a couple of rain shortened races.
In my opinion, I prefer Sunday races, and I would like to see them start earlier in the day, say around noon or 1pm. Weather is always a concern, but when I go to a race, I ALWAYS have a rain plan B. I can't see driving 700 miles to Bristol just to turn around and go home while they are racing on Monday. I always have that extra day scheduled just in case! I like them on Sundays. There's more going on in my life on a Sat. night than a Sunday afternoon. Say a race gets rained out on a Sunday....a lot of fans have to go to work on Mon. and would not be able to stay and see it. I think that NASCAR is shifting more races to Sat. nights because enough fans complained about not getting to see rain-postponed races. Rain Outs?
More like they can drink more cheap beer and only have to go home the next day.

Junior fits most of the criteria as well, but he didn't change sponsors until 2008, and he won a race last year.
Mark Martin doesn't work because he never won the 500, has almost 40 wins, and finished higher than 5th a bunch of times.

Oops! NASCAR NATION: While Kyle Busch is driving for a championship in the Nationwide Series, is it taking a way his attention and performance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series?
I mean, last year he bowed out of running full-time in April or something and his performance sky-rocketed and won 8 of the first 22 races. Now this year, heck - he is well on his way to winning a Nationwide Title, but he is 9th in Cup Standings, I believe 50 some points from 13th... Not sure...but im sure hes doing it for more oportunites to win! Hes a fun dude. I think hes just out to win win and win. Hes gota long ways ahead of him for championships. Not that he doesnt want one.. i do hope he stops racing in natiowide. i mean he always wins there. heck 4 wins this year in nationwide and 3 in cup. total 7. but yea also edwards needs to stop racing in nationwide cuz in my opinion its just not fair to the nationwide only drivers. they would have better performances in cup and edwards has no wins this year in cup. heck im with jeff gordon woo!!!! This page has Brad K in the 4 and a schedule (I didnt think it was released yet) Its just a prelim. It shows Jamie Mac at Yates, which isn't certain yet. If he keeps outperforming Ragen, I can see David with the shorth end of the stick and Jamie still at Rouch. they had brad keselowski in the dupont #24 2 weeks ago the dates seem to be right, the sponsors aren't.
3M is not doing the August race in Michigan, they aren't even doing it this year. Right now there is no Sponsor for the August race at MIS.

1: It says Juan Pablo Montoya has Wrigleys as a primary sponosor, and it's not just associate
2: It says Kasey Kahne's # 9 has no sponsor, when at Kasey's Jayski page says in march that budweiser is coming back for 2010.
3: Brad K in the # 4 first, he might not get the ride and two, they don't know if SHR is fielding a 3rd car

also at one time in may, i saw that homestead had two races, that it got one in april and November. there was still 36 races, so they replaced one of the other races and not one in april like maybe on of the second races at a course. That's interesting, but then again it's all speculation.ftw means

NASCAR does officially "own" each number that is used, as well as unused. Each team owner can request specific numbers, i. e. Richard Childress Racing currently using the 07, 29, 31, and 33 as well as having the 3 available. NASCAR has no official policy of retiring a number, hence Richard Childress Racing requesting the 3 and not using the number until RCR desires to return the 3 to the track. The same was done by Robert Yates Racing with the 28 after the death of Davey Allison. I have heard that Nascar "owns" the numbers and then leases numbers to each team. A petition has to be filed by the teams to lease a particular number. Not sure why teams choose which numbers they want to lease but I am sure they have their own reasons. The owners. The numbers are bought by the teams.
For example, Richard Childress has the rights to the #3. He does not want to put it on the track. So it stays "shelved" until he wants to use it.
I Believe that NASCAR ultimately "owns" the numbers and leases them out to the teams. Yea NASCAR approves the numbers. The teams request use of the numbers and NASCAR has to approve the number. NASCAR can deny use of the number but in every case I can remember NASCAR has always allowed the person who has been using the number to keep using that number the drivers can pick their # if its available like Tony Stewart picked 14 because A.J. Foyt was his fav. driver and that was his #. The team owner probably picks some of the #'s on his cars though. they can pick what number they want With cars/trucks that have three numbers on them..for as long as I have been watching NASCAR...I don't believe I have ever seen one up front...much less in Victory Lane. I'm not 100% sure on the whole approval method, but one way is to bring your own drag car to the track, usually during a test n tune session or whenever and NHRA (or IHRA) officials will watch you as you make several passes, each one a little longer until you make a full run. I'm also pretty sure you can get your license through a drag racing school like Frank Hawley. Here is the link that will tell you.

That would be interesting with a 3400 pound car to drive.. I would choose Daytona International speedway, since it's the closest to my hometown. I'd drive for Yates Racing in the #28 Texaco/ Havoline Ford with a paint scheme that is reminiscent of Davey Allison's 1992 scheme. Infineon, Hendrick. All I can remember is from the race Sunday, and it didn't make Jimmie look too good. I would like to see a link posted so it could be critiqued more in depth. Something just didn't look too normal on Jimmies part. Where can I find a replay of Jimmie taking out Kurt Busch? It didn't look intentional to me. Jimmie Johnson is not a dirty driver. It looked like when he caught the edge of the track he was actually airborne, let up on the gas and lost control of his car. (you can't steer when the front tires are off the ground). He apologized immediately and his apology sounded sincere.
If it had been Kyle Busch that did that to anyone else, you would call it hard racing, and how did the very talented and the 'best' driver in NASCAR do this?

Yes depends. Have you had many years of racing gokarts,formula 2 formula 3. Do you have many millions of dollars to bring to a team with sponsorship? If the answer to any of these is no, then sorry. If you like racing then I suggest you start in a class you can afford , and one that is realistically within your reach. Otherwise dream on . It is never too late to race, but just be realistic about it, VERY few ppl ever get into F1 , and there are many thousands of race drivers not too late but without the proper training and experience ya probably have no chance. look into Barber racing school and invest the time and money. then just prove yourself on and off the track. There are other racing schools you can invest in. I would suggest getting into local racing first to see if you actually have some skills, most local tracks have open wheel racing classes, but start with the street cheapo class to get an easier start. I am 17 years of age and i am so inspired by formula one is it to late for me to become a driver and start a career

I always cheer for Patrick Carpentier, and I guess he's technically a road course ringer again. I thought it would have been awesome to see him get a win.

But then was hoping for Robby to pull it off when he was leading and a few laps to go...then that caution came out. That sucked. I was rooting for Said, Fellows, and Papis to do good too. I was rooting for Max too. Boris hasn't been doing good on the road courses as of late, maybe because the team hes with sucks. The only person that will ever know for sure is Jimmie. To me it just look like they were both racing hard. I don't blame Kurt for being mad at Jimmie. Kurt was way on the other side of the track. Kurt left Jimmie more than enough room on his right. (and don't tell me about Jimmie apologizing after the race, I saw that too) Did it look like Jimmie did it intentionally, or did Jimmie honestly have poor car control? It's called a racing incident. It wasn't intentional, it was just hard racing. That's the thing about a road course. There is only one line and more than one person wants to run it. It looked like Kurt was trying to make a pass and squeezed Jimmie to the cub and when Jimmie came off of the curb he got loose enough to catch Kurt's rear quarter panel.
If there ever was a case of it's "just racing" then that was a fine example. When you haven't had a good run in a while and you finally have one and something like that happens I'm sure it gets under their skin. I think they were just fighting for the same spot on the track. that's racin'. what are u gonna do? and I would have to agree with the TNT announcers when they said that Jimmie is one of the cleanest racers out there. there is no way Jimmie did that intentionally. Not only did he aplogize to kurt on the radio, he went up to Kurt after the race and aplogized. that shows true sportsmanship right there. To me it looked like when Jimmie hit the curb it really upset his car. I don't think Jimmie ever really regained control of his car after bouncing off that curb. It's just one of those unfortunate racing deals. "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"...it's racing. i like kurt quite a bit more than i do the #48 though i don't have issues with him either. i don't blame kurt a bit for being mad. however, don't you get mad when someone cuts you off in traffic? it's not always an intentional thing. besides, he still finished 20 positions ahead of my guy. mark got beat up all day but i doubt he'd point the finger. just a tough day on a tough race track. kurt is still solid in the points and will be a factor in the chase. Doubtful that it was with the intent to wreck him. Two hard racers fighting for one spot on the track it was bound to happen.

The McLaren is absolutely crap this season and is not at all competitive.
I predict Hamilton will only finish 11th in the championship unfortunately. It's THE CAR... something you would LEARN if you actually LISTENED TO THE ANNOUNCERS instead of playing with your XBOX or chatting on your computer because you are one of those morons who have to do 10 things at once... ALL OF THEM DONE BADLY. With the new regulation brought in for this year, the design of the cars have changed vastly from last year.
And Mclaren just didn't get it right this year. Same with Ferrari, neck and neck with Mclaren last year but just dropped off this year, again they just haven't designed their cars well.
Where as Red Bull and the new Brawn GP have made smart decisions in the design of their cars and it has shown in this years championship.
Yes Mclaren and Brawn are using Mercedes engines but its also a combination of all the components of a car that give it its overall performance. Force India also have Mercedes engines but they have really only improved their race performance by about 3 or 4 positions on average compared to last year.
After Sliverstone he is 11th in the championship, 10 places lower then he would like, but I think thats roughly where he will finish the year. Somewhere around their. The performance of the MP4-24 just doesn't stack up againest the new leaders of the field. Dude his car is 9 tenths of in qualifiying, this may not sound like much but in F1 it is a lifetime, mainly it is the straightline speed and cornering which is bad on the car. The balance is good though, Mclaren put all of the effort into last season to make Lewis win.
I think he will get into the top 15. i think it was Eddie Jordan who said a few races ago that Mclaren seem to always put their effort into a winning car, and then they havn't worked on a new car for the next season, so they sort of rush it to get a new car, that doesn't work really. Last season when he won the F1 World Championship, he displayed passion, desire, and was a fighter.
