Joey Logano NOT driving for Gibbs next year?

May be...

  • i think joey needs more cup experience. seriously, we don't need another casey atwood. i think joey should stay in the nationwide series for at least one more season. it's for the best.

omg winter, i never thought of that! kyle and kurt on the same team. i can't even imagine.
  • OMG Kurt and Rowdy on the same team, WOW. Truex Jr at JGR that would work. I've learned rumors are rumors until anything is official. Jayski doesn't always get it right, so I wait until its official before I get excited. Mercy Mercy, the Busch Boys on the same team, Nascar will need a bigger hauler for the times these two will tangle.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • this was brought up during the nationwide race - twice. the first time they mentioned that there was some uncertainty as to whether or not joey would be in the cup #20 next year.

a few minutes later one of the pit reporters came on and said he had been receiving text messages and that j.d. gibbs had come over and told him specifically that joey WILL be in the #20 cup car next year, to put the rumors to rest quickly.

that's what was said during the broadcast.
  • Okay, I don't think any of this will happen, but what do you think? From Jayski.com: Will plans to have rookie Joey Logano replace Tony Stewart next season in the #20 Toyota change? Speculation is Joe Gibbs Racing officials are trying to work out a deal to get #1-Martin Truex Jr. from Dale Earnhardt Inc. to drive the #20 car next year. If JGR can't get Truex, they might make a run at #2-Kurt Busch, who wants out of his deal with Penske Racing.
A quick warning: Rumors are rampant these days in NASCAR because of the difficult economic times. So here's another rumor: JGR president J.D. Gibbs is expected to arrive at Phoenix today and possibility address this issue to deny all of it. The Logano/Truex gossip started because of DEI's tenuous situation right now on sponsorship, and growing concerns that the 18-year-old Logano might not be ready to race Cup full-time next year. But Home Depot, primary sponsor for the #20 Camry, already has invested tons of money in a marketing campaign for Logano. DEI picked up the 2009 option on Truex's contract in August, but another rumor floating through the garage is that Bass Pro Shops, the primary sponsor of Truex's car at DEI, may join Stewart-Haas Racing next year as the second sponsor for #39-Ryan Newman. DEI has discussed merger possibilities with Chip Ganassi Racing and Petty Enterprises. Will any of this actually happen? Probably not, but it shows how crazy things are these days on the speculation about the future for NASCAR teams and drivers.
  • I heard something during the Nationwide race, on how they might not put Joey Logano in the number 20. So you know that there might be a chance if they are actually mentioning it on television. I dont think it will happen, but it is a possiblilty.
  • I can see Truex as a good fit over at JGR.
But I REALLY hope I never never never see Kurt and Kyle Busch on the same team. NASCAR could not take it
  • I don't put much stock in rumors.
Truex at JGR could work. Kurt and Kyle on the same team?.....oh lord have mercy on us all!!!

    We'll have to see.
  • never ever ever ever EVER trust jayski.com.

    NEVER.
  • NONE of that is true. Lagano will run the #20 cup car now maybe not the whole season. Truex has signed with DEI for at least next season. I do no that DEI is talking with Ganassi about a partnership which would have Truex in the 1 with Bass Pro, Montoya in the 40 with Juicy Fruit, and Smith in a car (can't remember what #) with Target. But i don't no if thats true either. So we just have to wait till Speed Weeks in Daytona start to see were every body will be.
  • That's just a rumor. 50% it will happen, but this is like a baseball trade.
  • It's just a rumor and I don't put much weight behind it. I can't really see Truex going to a Toyota camp, and Kurt Busch / Kyle Busch on the same team would most likely never work.

HOWEVER, I will throw this out there: I think it would be a good idea for Gibbs to find someone else to drive the #20 car for a year or two. Joey is a phenomenal talent, this is true, but it is clear that he is not yet ready to run with the big dogs full-time. Let him get a couple of years in the Nationwide series under his belt first. It would be an absolute shame to watch such a talented young driver wash out of Cup competition because he was thrust into that position before he was ready....black cab service
  • What Nascar team has made the most improvement this year?

    May be...

  • MWR is sizzling over the past races but no team beats Red Bull all year round.
  • I think MWR has made the biggest improvement this year but Red Bull is in the discussion as well. Yee haw!
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Red Bull for sure
  • I think Greg Biffle has.
  • I am going to have to say David Ragan and Jamie McMurray. They have just done so great this year. Especially David Ragan, almost making it in the chase. And now Jamie is up ther, too bad its so late in the year, but hopefully it can carry over to next year!
  • Definitely Red Bull, go-or-go home to almost making the Chase.
  • David Ragan's team in my opinion made the most improvement. Just watching us around here saying how well he did put him in this category.
  • Red Bull Racing and Gillette Evernham.
  • Red Bull racing has really improved. But so has Mikey and Waltrip Racing. At least David Reutiamnn has
  • Im going with Red Bull racing. I think they are the second best Toyota team to JGR.
  • mikey is 29th points thats a helluva improvement not to mention ruetiman
rueti gonna win one next year
  • Gibbs, Red-Bull, MWR, Roush...

All of them made some improvement..

Red-Bull and MWR have had the most improvement
  • Include Michael Waltrip Racing. There not doing too bad either. David Reutimann starts fourth in tomorrows race.
  • Yep, Team Red Bull. They got Brian Vickers from out of the Top 35 to around the Top 15 in points and A.J. Allmendinger did a pretty good job this year. It's too bad that he got replaced by Scott Speed.
  • Michael Waltrip Racing and Team Red Bull
  • Well from last year, I definitely think Roush has made some great improvements. More specifically Greg Biffle's team. Jeff Gordon's team has struggled throughout the yaer but I feel that as the year has progressed his finishes and their performance in general has improved greatly even though he hasnt got that elusive win yet. The #18 team specifically has made some great improvements as well, considering they were the top dog for a while, before the chase, but compare that to when J.J. Yeley drove, that's quite a difference. Just my thoughts. Enjoy.

  • I'll go with Skinner on this one.

    *SILQ*
  • Won't get to watch much but I'll go with Scott Speed since I am his first official fan.

  • Is Clint Bowyer getting the credit he deserves?

    May be...

  • I don't feel he's ever gotten the credit he deserves. Last year they called him a fluke in the cup series chase, finishing 3rd to the dominant duo of Jeff and Jimmie. This year people were counting him out of making the chase and he is once again challenging for a top 5 finish in the standings. He could also end up as the highest placing RCR driver for the 2nd straight year. Add in his ultra consistent Nationwide results and you have a great season by anyone's standards. He often gets overlooked and has said a couple of things that ticked a lot of people off (I thought he was spot on with his Mikey comment) but he will continue to prove that he is one of the best drivers there is in NASCAR, whether you like him or not.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • he's gettin a lot of name calling and disrespect some think he deserves. personally i think he's a really good driver and you never hear that just the things he's said or done wrong.
  • No, not really. Just like all "unsung heroes" he's not getting the media attention he has earned.

    *SILQ*
  • yes i thank he is getting the credit he deserves
  • now that you mentioned it-~ NO
  • He's very underrated at the Nationwide Series. All attention was with Edwards taking over the spotlight and they're talking about the Cup while the Nationwide Series is racing.
  • I lost any respect for him when he made that comment about Mikey.
No I dont think he deserves any credit right now.
  • I really don't think he is. He has been very consistent this year. With guys like Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards winning a lot, it takes a lot of attention away from many other drivers. Clint hasn't been happy with his finishes lately, but he's been leading the points almost the year so he has been doing a good job.
  • No. For some reason it looks like if you are born and grew up in Kansas, you ain't worth coverage by the media. Clint just seems to calmly go about his job-winning.
  • Good question Tommy G ;) and No I don't think so. You hear more about Carl Edwards closing in on him than you do about Clint actually leading and possibly winning the Championship. You don't hear to much about how the #2 has had an outstanding year in the Nationwide Series the guy has had 27 top 10's and 12 top 5's, I mean come on where is the love for my boy Clint?
  • Lets see how can I say this nicely.........If he wasn't constantly opening his mouth and inserting his foot every 2 minutes people might want to talk to him more and in return you would hear more about him......Was that nice enough :)
  • In the Nationwide Series, he led the whole year and you don't hear anything about him.
  • nah he don't get enough credit
he's better than what they say
  • Considering he (hopefully) is about to become the 08 NW serise champion, I don't think so.
  • or slightly more than he deserves
  • I don't believe he gets the credit he deserves. Last year everyone thought he didn't deserve to be in the chase and he almost won the whole thing. This year he has been leading for most of the year and all you hear about is how Carl Edwards or Brad Keslowski are set to take over the lead.

    It is just ridiculous!palm chm
  • NASCAR NATION this ? is for all of us----------->?

    May be...

  • I like Junior because he drives a Chevy, my uncle got me hook to NASCAR and that his favorite driver, and he doesn't have much of a temper
  • GOOD DAY MY FRIENDS, my question is this,
WHY do you like a certain DRIVER? is it because of who he is, what he's done, or who they drive for, even is it because of the car manufacturer????

Mine as you can see is Kasey Kahne #1 because Kasey is my cats name (spelled the same) #2 I stopped watching NASCAR in the 80's, I moved out of dads house and had no one to injoy it with, then started again and said since I'm a rookie watcher again might as well pick a rookie driver at the time. #3 I'm a DODGE fan, MOPAR or no car, or you can say MO-POWER!

But that's my view, What's yours NASCAR NATION????

THE NASCAR NATION RULES THE Y/A!!!!!!!
  • Oohhhhhh, this is a toughie.

I like Tony Stewart because of his no BS type of attitude.

I like all of the drivers, but TS is my fave.
  • Kenseth he is a great human, a great driver, not out to wreck anyone, consistent and safe, a real nice guy
  • I like winners so I like the driver that wins the most. Lol.
  • Back in 2002 when Elliott Sadler was still ugly, I thought I kind of looked like him, that on top of a great personality and the fact I pull for underdogs makes him the perfect driver for me.
  • Been following Jeff Gordon since I got interested in Nascar in the mid 90's. Always liked his style and his abilities with a car. Always thought he handled himself (most of the time) with class and respected the sport and other drivers.
Jimmie Johnson has become my favorite because I watched him in Busch and he really sucked but always had a positive outlook. Since joining cup he has become a dominant force but still keeps his self in check and is always trying to better himself and his team.
Both these drivers do a lot off the track for charities and their fans. I like drivers who give back to not only the sport but to others in hopes of making this a better world.
  • I like the ones with some attitudes! (Kyle Busch, Tony Steward, Carl Edwards, and lean toward Clint Bowyer at times) can't forget to mention their drive for competition!
  • I like a certain driver for who he is on and off the track. Jeff Gordon, my favorite, is one of the best with 4 Championships and 81 wins. But I also like him for what he has done off the track by helping people affected by the tornado in Kansas last year and what he does for his foundation. He is a great father, too. As long as my favorite drivers stay the way they are, then I will like them.
  • Well my parents gave me Bobby LaBonte when I was younger because they wanted me to have a good driver, so being a loyal fan I have stuck with him. And he just seems to be a great guy. Doesnt blame people, takes everything as it comes and moves on. He is just a class act and has the respect of a lot of people in the garage.

Jamie McMurray I picked because I saw the first race he won in only hs second win and I liked the outcome that I thought he would have (and he is cute). But I have grown to like him even more because of his attitude on the race track and off. He doesnt cause problems and doest start stuff. Much like Bobby.
  • I like Mark Martin because he was born and raised in my state. I like Mark because he is a great driver and a Legend. My grandpa before he passed away got me hooked on him so its keeps my grandpa alive with me.
  • I liked Casey Mears when he was still in Busch and when he moved to Cup I kept rooting for him to do well. Then when I went to Texas and met him for the first time, he jumped to the top and has stayed there ever since. He is such a nice guy in person and will always take the time for his fans. I can't wait for next year when he goes to RCR and I get my dream team (Casey, Kevin and Clint).
  • I like Junior, mostly because he just loves the sport of racing. Naturally he grew up with it. He is a clean driver he respects a majority of the drivers out there,
I also like it when people are giving like Sterling Marlin or Theresa Earnhardt, even Jeff Gordon a hard time, Junior is always there and tries to settle them down. I admit their our some of his fans that can go overboard on a few things, but he is there to straightened them out. Or at least he tries too. YOu have to give him that.

He loves his family and he has a kind heart.
He is a party boy, not ready to settle down quite just yet. Cant blame him on that either.
He also sticks with his guns tells it like it is. If he doesn't like something, especially when he is driving you better bet he wiil tell you.
Got a potty mouth on him. lol

    3) #88 Had a top 10 there in the spring(7th) and runs well at PHX.

    4) #11 Another good driver that likes flat no banking tracks. 3rd this spring.

11 (finished 3rd in the spring and is a great flat track racer)

  • Which Atlanta finish was more impressive to you?

    May be...

  • Definitely Johnson's performance since it gained him a ton of points he would have lost to the 99 and would have finished about 10th-12th and instead the brilliant call by Knaus got him 2nd. Plus Johnson drove like a champion in those 8 laps.
  • The one bestanswer gave here when he asked this exact question a week ago: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
  • i'm obviously biased, but i remember that 9th to 1st comeback in three laps in 2005 and that was some serious driving. jimmie's comeback was great, but watching the then 20-year-old from vegas fly by those grizzled veterans of the truck series, heck, it still has me jumping up off my seat, and i'm at home in front of my computer.

ps. the link you have to the truck finish gives me an error. here's the link again:

  • Jimmie baby, for sure.
  • Which Atlanta finish was more impressive to you?
Yesterday when Jimmie Johnson came from 11th to 2nd in 5 laps in the Sprint cup series? (Sorry can't find a video)

    or

In 2005 in the truck series when Kyle Busch restarted 9th with 3 to go and won on the last turn? (Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfcIB4Yb0...

They both had fresh tires, but either way I think they were both very impressive because of the great moves they made to get to the front that quickly.

I am just meaning by individual performances there Rick. Not the races that were the most exciting. I agree about the Harvick win, though. I liked him in 2001 and it helped the healing process after Sr's death seeing him win.

  • If Felipe Massa didn't have have problems with his fuel rig and such, who do you think would have won the it?

    May be...

  • If Ferrari hadn't used that stupid traffic light system, Massa would have won the title.

If the Safety Car hadn't come out in Canada, Hamilton would have won the title by a lot more points.

If Massa's engine hadn't blown up in Hungary, then he might have won the title, but Hamilton had a puncture in the same race when he was still in with a chance of winning that race.

And so it continues, F1 is like that, what if?
  • I always compare F1 to snooker-
What would have happened if the ball hadn`t stopped over the pocket!
    etc etc etc etc........
    who knows
    who cares..
  • with something like formula 1 the whole thing could be full of what ifs the bottom line is Lewis is the champion and nothing is going to change that
lets hope this season makes Massa more hungry for the title next year and it produces a great season next year
  • ifs buts and maybes

could of should of but he didn't.

    Que Sera, Sera
  • well they both made costly mistakes and small ones as well. so either way....
  • If Hamilton had been ejected from F1 for ignoring a RED light and hitting Kimi then Massa would have taken the title ahead of Kubica & Kimi.
But, the powers that be saw fit to not kick out a clearly colour blind driver who will one day probably make 1 mistake too many & kill someone.
And it most likely will not be himself...
  • What if Hamilton's win in Spa hadn't been gifted to Massa? What if Massa was rightly given the penalty in Fuji instead of Bourdais? There are a lot of "what ifs" and so it probably works out pretty fairly between the two overall and I personally think the best man one.
  • Engine failures happen to all teams but the pit stop incident was an avoidable one and not something you'd expect from a team challenging for the title and that's probably what lost them the win.
  • The McLaren team got their tactics hopelessly wrong in Spain, arguably their most important race for years, which just proves that "human error" can never be discounted.
  • Yes he would have, but he did have problems with his fuel rig and his engine did fail, it's not just the driver but the team and his team let him down, as regards the fuel rig incident Ferrari should have been thrown out of the championship for it. It was downright f@@king dangerous not only to them but to everbody else within distance, no whinging, no exceptional circumstances, it was out of order and life threatening.
  • Also, his engine failure from the lead with 3 laps left at the Hungarian GP where Hamilton finished fifth, but it wouldn't fit in the title.

    Any opinions? Cheers.
  • Obama would have no chance.
  • Well, if Massa had scored 1 more or Hamilton 1 less point, Massa would have won it. So if you reverse any of Massa's misfortune, the title would have been his.

But this is history and Hamilton won. End of Story

  • If both drivers had 100% reliability and the team made no mistakes, Massa would have won the title without a doubt.

It leads me to the conclusion that perhaps Massa should have won the drivers, and McLaren then constructors.
  • No, he was the driver who drove off with the rig attached.
bad driving and bad teamwork i'm afraid.
It would also have been settled weeks ago but for the Ferrari bias amongst the sports administrators.
  • I'm British too and not a Hamilton or a Ferrari obsessive fan. It can be argued that with the fuel line at singapore, the engine blowing in the last 3 laps plus the two retirements at the start of the season would probably have seen Massa delighted instead of disappointed. Then again Hamilton did get some questionable penalties, some deserved some not that would have affected the result too. Either way i think the result would have been the same running up to Interlagos.pretec gps drivers

What nascar pace car have you liked best?

    May be...

  • i agree with fire storm that was my favorite pace car, by far.
  • Anywhere they used a Corvette.
  • i asked this question last week and for some reason it got deleted.
    so i ask it again.
  • Huge Corvette fan here. Give me a Hundred Million and the first thing I'd buy is a Vette. I love to see a Corvette pacing the cars around the track. For more in site yellow would be my favorite color.
  • The Impala with the COT wing used early on in the year. I know they used it at Richmond.
  • Yep the Corvettes rank number 1 with me.
  • Back in 1979 I had the pleasure of driving the Coca-Cola pace car (A new Jaguar) from blm in NJ to Pocono race track . At that time it was a 30 thousand $ car. I took a $50 thousand bus back to Jersey.lol At that time I drove a lot of what they called "Press" cars all over.

  • For all those so called F1 fanatics-Who was the last F1 driver to beat Schumacher?

    May be...

  • I'd say it was Heikki Kovalainen @ last years Race of Champions, in the final event of the Nations Cup
  • .

    Kovalainen-Race of Champions?

Schhhhhhh stalled, he also span in another race.

    .
  • He was last beaten in a competetive race in a KTM Super Duke race though in April. He came 4th.
  • The last truly dominant performance was the British Grand Prix 9-11 June 2006, Fernando Alonso got Pole, fastest lap and won the race, Schumi only managed 3rd, but
val F1 nutter could also be right about Interlagos aswell.

Not Britain then eh? I'll say Juan Pablo Montoya Italy 2005.
  • well he came 4th at interlargos behind Jenson, Fernando and Felipe in 2006 although Michael did get the fastest lap.
is that what you were looking for?

lol, where's rosbif when you need him eh

oh well it was stupid o'clock in the morning when I answered lol
  • Schummy is Der Maister, the teacher..
nobody will be better than him
  • where and when
and the name of the Race
  • Fando Alonso in formula one but it could be Kovalainen-Race of Champions.
  • 2006-Fernando Alonso
    @ Interlagos circuit,Sau Paulo Brazil
  • Fernando Alonso beat him twice and made him retire.

Anyone actually looking forward to Homestead and the end of the 2008 racing year?

    May be...

  • oh yes,
Nascar for the first time, then a holiday in orlando, what could be better!
  • No, I just like oval track racing of any kind. I'll just sit around in the snow and wait until mid February! I will catch up on some of the new movies that came out this year that I missed!
    Peace!
  • As diehard of a fan as I am, this year has been wearing on me. I am too busy and I hate missing racing so all these races I have to watch on tape is killing me slowly. I need some time off from Nascar. The season should be shorter and I wish every race was run on Saturday night.
  • I will be doing Scholarships the whole off season.

I am not looking forward to writing all of those papers to see if I get money to get into college :(. But its a necessity.

I am not looking forward to the off season though.
  • i have a busy life anyway. as much as i love NASCAR, it doesn't keep me from living my life and taking care of business. but it has been a long season, so i am ready for it to end, but not for the reason you mentioned

but of course by january i'll be counting down the days 'till daytona
  • Maggie I am not looking Forward to the end of 2008. As I am a Die Hard Kidd.

Man I feel sorry for the people in this house, actually this entire neighborhood these next 2 months. I'll be blasting Re-Runs on Youtube and I will be bouncing off the walls going psycho for NASCAR to re fire their engines.

The Only thing I put off was Cleaning stuff. Looks like I'll be doing that and Shovelling snow!

Truex Jr to Win these Last 2 races!!!
  • I have tickets and it will be more or less interesting depending on how Phoenix goes.........I would love to see it tighten up some more!!

    Nice top Magg!!
  • To get stuff done you have put off since the start of racing season for "later"?
I could barely get through my basement yesterday. All that stuff that I would get to "later".

    What did you put off.?????
  • i don't want it to end. i always go crazy at the end of the season. as soon as homestead is over i will be counting down the days until the first race of the 2009 season.
  • I've been putting off hanging 2 new doors in my house. I bought them back in February. They are still in my garage. LOL.
  • I might "stray"
  • Oh yeah, now maybe my garage can get cleaned out. Has been needing it for awhile now. My garage sounds like your basement. lol CAnt even walk through it, seems like everything you want to hold off on goes straight there.
I am not looking forward to it ending though. Man it went by too fast.
  • I look forward to Homestead more than any other race weekend of the year. With all of NASCAR's 3 biggest series crowning their champions it is extremely exciting. I don't like the off season but it has to come at some point. Thank god it is a short one. I found out last week that we are having a baby boy, due in March, so I have to paint his room and get the house ready. We will steam clean the carpets closer to the due date and get all our outlets and other things "baby proofed". I should have stained the deck before it got colder also but oh well!
btw: Is that body paint you're wearing? LOL
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Yes, I'm tired of the current season. Bring on 2009!
  • might as well pheonix will probably suck [i hope it dont ]
but lets get a new season blasted off with a fresh start

once this year got to the chase it just started to suck
like 31 of'em gave up or just been told to stay out the way
  • Noooo!!! Sorry but I love to watch NASCAR. Sunday afternoon spent watching NASCAR is my favorite day of the week. It's my excuse to be lazy or crazy which ever I prefer. The stuff I keep putting off has to get done some other day then Sunday afternoon's. After the season ends I go into a deep depression that lasts till Speed Week.

Sorry but I really hate to see it end. Boo-hooo!
  • Yes. As much as I like racing, I'm glad that there will be a little time off until Daytona next year. When you are really into something, you just want to keep watching it forever. But it shouldn't last forever. Plus, there is a lot of important things in life, too. 2009 will be here and it will be back before we know it.maxtheater 175 tv
  • Kyle Busch point standing?

    May be...

  • His checkers or wreckers style is not good for winning championships. To finish first, you must first finish. Plus is doesn't help that he didn't run the full schedule.
  • Because he has run about 75 % of the races and has so many wins that he has built up a cushion over other drivers that he will likely finish in the top ten without running a full schedule. I believe he also finished in the top ten last year as well but only won I think 4 races.
  • Yeah you have to race the whole season. I am shocked that he is still in seventh.

After those 2 wrecks, he dropped out for a bit. Boo Hoo. (lol) sorry had to do that.
But he has still had a amazing season. Just cant seem to get a championship though.
  • Kyle has won 10 races and 4 poles, but is ranked 7th in the Nationwide series. How does that work out?
  • Because he has not run all the races in the Series. Plus he also ran with several teams, not just JGR & the #18. Poles do not account for points position.
  • You don't get points for winning poles. You get zero points when you don't race which has been the case on may occasions for him this year. 7th is pretty awesome considering he hasn't been in all the races.
  • exactly --what tom said
he quit running full time early when he crashed out 2 times in a rowbenq 8
  • Jeff Gordon fans......Another top 10 finish; still want to get rid of Letarte?

    May be...

  • the table's will turn next year
  • I know I have been hard on him but this year he has made a lot of bad calls. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to the #88 if we could get Brian Whitesell back .
  • Still though the car was not good enough in terms of handling, comfort and speed to consistently run in the top ten. He was good for the first 150 laps or so and then the car went away and lost a lap in the process. Still he got the free pass, worked on the car some and got a 2nd place finish on gas. These kind of strategies Letarte is good at but still needs to work on in race adjustments before Gordon can run with the 99, 48, 16 and other cars
  • I have no problem with Letarte. He is trying to adjust the best he can with the cot set up. Some caught on faster than others. They look like they finally got it together. Of course now we have to wait till next year.
As of him going to the 88 team, I am giving Eury Jr. the off season to figure out what is up. Then I am going to start complaining. lol
  • I'd keep Letarte. He's got potential-we just haven't seen all he's capable of yet.
  • I'm not a fan of Hendrick or Gordon but if I was a fan of his, I'd be pretty upset at how well the 48 team is running relative to the 24. Is JJ really THAT much better a driver than Jeff?!
  • You betcha... still NO wins..... he needs to go.
  • I am not a Jeff Gordon fan but I think Letarte is doing a fine job......I'll take him on top of the #88 box!!
  • Jeff was awesome yesterday and I think it was a bad luck year and not a bad crew chief year.coffeepotsoftware
  • Wasn't the F1 Brazilian GP 2008 the closest race ever that you have seen?

    May be...

  • it was pretty close, but it definitely wasn't the closest race of all time.
i belive the closest race ever has to be one of the races when raikkonen battled alonso in 2006, esp. japan 2006.
  • nah... the Singapore street race more fun and closer
  • Yes it the closest race !
  • You mean the most fixed GP ever?
  • I got up at 3:30 am to watch it live. I was on the edge of my seat for most of it, and standing up for the last 2 laps. I woke up my family yelling at the TV when Vettel got past Hamilton.... A real nailbiter, one of the most exciting GP's for a long long time.
  • Singapore street race was far better.
  • nope. the race was not close. but the race for the championship was.

Massa had a very comfortable win over Alonso and Kimi.

On the other hand, the championship race was exciting as it really went to the last corners!

    May be...

  • MASSAS DAD IS A JOKER!!!

but massa didnt deserve that hes a great guy...id rather alonso lost like that
  • Best thing i have seen this year !!!!!

I loved the fact it was a mechanic who told them them !!!

    LOL
  • i agree - alonso losing the WC like that would be amazing!
loved the end of the race - i was shaking!!
i was dissapointed at hamiltons driving near the end though, almost as like he was just prepared to let himself come 6th without fighting... dissapointed in hamilton but im still glad he won!!
  • The single greatest moment of this decade in F1
  • Cruel but extremely satisfying!
  • wait for the fia to deduct points off lewis
  • Lovely thank you very much!

I thought it was lost but then we had a little bit of luck at the end!
  • Amazing afternoon of racing!!!

  • Wow. I need a pint or two.
  • I'm glad Lewis Hamilton won, that won't please the racist Spaniards!
  • Dell PC = ВЈ499

Watching everyone in the Ferrari Pit Garage realise Massa HAS NOT WON the title. = Absolutely f-in PRICELESS!
  • Don't be such a prat !
  • You can thank that strange and very convenient problem of Glock's car (or wallett?). Enjoy it, it's not going to last.
Ferrari sei un mito, Massa forever
  • F*cking brilliant mate.
Now go to the American NASCAR forum and tell the yank muppets that the WORLD CHAMPION is from ENGLAND.
  • Pricless what a finale I was jumping up and down like a 10 year old. Good for you Hamilton. Gutted Ferrari

  • haha lmao i no they thought they had won 2 in one day massa is a great guy for trying but no-one can beat the world class of lewis hamilton8000 winch
  • Do you like seeing open-wheel drivers coming in NASCAR?

    May be...

  • I'm all for trying new things, but most of the time it never works out. Dario Franchitti is a good example. It seems like nowadays as soon as a driver thinks he is any good, he winds up in Nascar. It also appears to be the last place some drivers wind up after they've been kicked or pushed out of everything else, like Juan Montoya or Scott Speed. Nascar has become a dumping ground for washed up race drivers. Good thing is many can't cut it and don't last long. I think Travis Pastrana might be a heckuva driver. He seems to be awesome at everything he does.
  • Or do you find it annoying? I personally think it is pretty cool because it shows how popular NASCAR really is and it shows how good an open-wheel driver really is in other forms of racing. That's just my opinion, though. What do you think? Also, is there any other drivers that you would like to see come to NASCAR? If so, who?
  • I can't say it bothers me that they're coming over to NASCAR necessarily, but it's how they do it. Most of them jump straight into the Cup. That's not the way to do it. They should at least start out in Busch, or Nationwide, or whatever the hell they're calling that this week.
  • Don't really like it at all unless they are super good and I have only seen one like that in the last 3 years.

  • Doesn't bother me. I've grown quite fond of several of them. It's fscinating to watch them attempt to adapt to a different style of racing. I've watched a few F1 races, Fernando Alonso I believe would do well, he's a very good driver, he does however seem to have a personality that most NASCAR fans frown upon. As far as IRL drivers, I think Tony Kanaan or Helio Castroneves(did I spell that right?) might do well. I doubt any of them would come to NASCAR, but I suppose you never know.
  • It bothers me if they come right from open-wheel to Cup. It's not fair that they can just skip the NW series or ARCA. If they want to race in Cup, they should come over from IRL/F1 and race in the NW series then EARN their Cup ride.

And FYI, Richard Petty agrees with me!
  • I personally hate it. I think it is kicking people out of cars that have dreamed since childhood to be in one. The drivers taking them are often here for a fling in the series.
  • I don't have a problem with them coming into NASCAR,what I have a problem with is teams hiring these drivers and letting them go just as they are really starting to do better.I think it is really crappy that A.J. Allmendinger and Patrick Carpentier don't have rides for next year as of now.A.J. has came a long way as well as Patrick.I hope that they both find good rides for next year.
  • i agree with he Col, they should have some seat time in Nationwide before straight to the Cup Series...Montoya seems to be the only one with some success this year and hopefully more next year, but my personal opinion is that Montoya leaves Gnassai for a better equipped team and then we would see some REAL results!
  • no i do not
we have nationwide drivers that want to move up plus arca and trucks that want to move to nation wide to try to make cup also
so with that said they should stay where they started
  • I agree with Green bean!

Not to mention, quit wreckin my driver!

Get the hell off the track!

    Go to ARCA!kakoose
  • Are you glad this weekend is the last F1 race on ITV?

    May be...

  • im glad its going back to the bbc.as long as james allan stays with itv
  • Glad and relieved. ITV have got a whole load of rights for live football coverage next year and, if F1 had stayed with them, the football would have been given priority. Personally, I can't stand football and would hate to have to wait for Numpty United to finish 0-0 away against Chumpton City before getting an edited F1 race - still with adverts - after the event.

The BBC doesn't have rights to anything else to clash with F1 and can be expected to give it every accommodation. Plus, Bernie has already said the old theme tune will be coming back so that's that.
  • Next year the BBC get it back ... ITV do an okjob but I'll be glad to watch a race without adverts every 8 laps. (Not that it's that exciting!)
  • Yep back on the Beeb good news
  • Yes and No

Yes: No James Allen (Well sometimes he is okay)
    No Louise and Ted

No: Like the Ad they put and the Replays they show after
    Good Memories with ITV

But with DC and Brundle commentating it should be fun, But with Murray, it would be better
  • you can watch it also online for free on http://www.LiveStream.us.tt
  • I am an aussie the local station currently rebroadcasts the ITV feed.

Since they do not normally deal with the BBC and have a relationship with the US's Speed TV --- I am worried about not getting the BBC but Speed TV's ....argghhhh

We used toget the BBC's and MW was a genius ..
  • People all too easily forget how BAD the BBC coverage used to be, compared to what ITV have given us fans over recent years.

ITV have improved the coverage by an order of magnitude. At times the BBC didn't always show races/qualifying live, we'd be outraged now.

ITV have done a good job. Yes, some of them annoy the hell out of us, but overall we can really only complain about those damn adverts.

Good job ITV, hope there's EVEN BETTER to come from Auntie Beeb.
  • No, the ads give a break to go for tea or pee without missing a rare bit of real action, since they will replay any incident that happens during the ad break, and they tend to avoid taking a break at a critical point.

I would like the classic F1 theme back though, hope the BBC still have the rights to that, you can't beat that bass line.
  • i think itv was good especially martin brundles pit walks cos they made me laugh but i think it will probably be better on bbc, i did like the links itv had with couthard and hamilton but it was quite bias towards the british drivers and i think bbc will be more open with how it perceives talent, plus if the keep "the chain" by fleetwood mac as the title music then im sure everyone will be happy lol BRING BACK MURRAY WALKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
  • Much as the adverts haven't been as disruptive as I thought they would be, I'm rather glad it's going back to the Beeb. At least we get the 'Nigel Mansel' sig. tune back instead of Three Blind Mice (listen!!) I'm waiting to see who's going to be involved with the commentating before I'll be totally happy however. Incidentally I'm not so sure the Beeb is going to be 'unbiased' (going by recent programmes .....)guess the character price
  •
