Can't we all just get along?

May be...

  • srry dude, i have a thing againts nascar, frst nascar isnt areal sport, and second iam a proffecional karter, Cammeroon, so i hate nascar
  • They want to take over the NASCAR section, according to their Q & As. Wonder what they'll do with it once they get it? lol
  • This is one of those times where I shake my head at being a NASCAR and WWE fan, because this exact same problem develops. Why don't the trolls just leave us alone and do something diabolical on their own time?
  • dude sorry for what my friends have done, it's just one person that's doing this I think so please forgive us
  • If my memory serves me correct, the football (NFL) section did the same thing a few months ago. It's just a bunch of people looking for something to do. Potentially air out their frustrations? I don't know, for I don't partake in this nonsense. But eventually they'll get bored and go back to doing their own thing in their respective forums. Just wait it out, and don't let them get to you.
  • Because sometimes people have no brains, that's why we can't all get along. Glad to see you have one though.
  • First, I'd like to address Puro Mexicano...You say NASCAR is not a sport? I'd like to see you try driving 500 miles at 200 mph, get out of the car, and THEN tell me it's not a sport!

Second, we CAN get along! :o) See! :o) I'm smiling! :o)

    EDIT: Tony, you said it!
  • We all do get along.

Hey PURO, nice Eeeenglish, you kiss your mom wif dat mouff???

Cause she told me she likes it when you do, At least I think it was her, they all look the same from behind. Hair and ears.

Kids should not be allowed near the computer without parental supervision.
  • It's not us who doesn't cooperate, its them.
  • WE PLAY NICE IN NASCAR !!!!!!!!!! This is all bull stop.
  • hopefully they will find somewhere else to go soon.
  • plz cant we just stop this invading nonscence and get along?
  • They'll get bored and leave soon enough.

  • Nascar Fans, Did I Miss Something in the Off Season?

    May be...

  • CUAUHTEMOC #1.
  • No but i heard that Marco Rodrguez is going to start racing
  • I read an article on NASCAR.com that Eury Jr. would still be crew chief even though he was taking a lot of heat from the fans about his mistakes. I also read that there were some more "people" being brought in that could help Dale Jr's team become more successful. They didn't go into detail as to who those new members are.
    http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/features...

I was reading also another article in the off-season how Tony Jr and Dale Jr were spending a lot of time together fishing and just being friends. I can't help to think that Dale Jr is the type person that thinks blood is thicker than water. He seems to be taking care of his uncle and cousin and make sure they have a job at all costs.

If there are plans in the works to replace Tony Jr then they may not be making it as publicized based on Dale Jr's respect for his "blood kin" family (cousin and uncle). I do however feel like Tony needs replacing. I do know that ever since Tony Eury Jr became Dale Jr's crew chief that he has not been as successful of a driver. I remember back before the introduction of the COT when they were still using the "older" style cars the most successful teams were the ones making small changes. It always seems that Tony Eury Jr always makes big changes and simply runs out of pit stops before the race is over to get it right.
  • I would love to see Jr. start his own CUp team.

Then be able to buy out the stepmonster for a penny on the dollar.

Stick that in your smoke and pipe it TEI.
  • Jr already has a team in the nationwide series that the yare thinking about running a few Cup races with Brad Keselowski as driver I think. Thats probably what you read.
  • I read in an answer to a question on this forum today that Dale Jr. will have a new team this season.
Is that true? And if so did it include a crew chief change?
  • Nothing changed for Jr.
  • these people think that jr is the greatest of all-time. not true.iberai airline
  • Nascar Who is Tetsuo Fuchigami ?

    May be...

  • AKA George Tet was an owner/driver from New York who ran, one or two NASCAR Cup races (it was called Grand National back then) in the early sixties.. one of them may have been the Daytona 500
  • Where am i from ?
    What is my best ?
  • "George Tet" Tetsuo Fuchigami

George Tet, the first Japanese NASCAR driver and a florist from Long Island, New York, aka Tetsio Futchiami, was a top New England area modified driver back in the 50's and 60's. He was the Islip Speedway 1960 Champion.

Tet only raced three times in NASCAR and he was over his head at Daytona as witnessed in the 1961 Daytona 500 as he started 55th and finished 51st, only lasting 24 laps.

George's American family were actually from Hawaii, but of Japanese decent. Being the first Japanese NASCAR driver, he adds to the Legend of NASCAR.

Yeah, just a copy/paste, I know. I was actually amazed to find that there was a Japanese driver in the 1960s- I remember a few years ago there was a Japanese driver in NASCAR, and the announcers (incorrectly, now) said he was the first Japanese driver. I guess though they were both right and wrong, since Tetsuo isn't from Japan, he's from NY.
  • I THOUGHT I NEW LIKE ALL THE DRIVERS BUT I DONT RECALL HEARING ABOUT HIM SORRY BUT HE SOUNDS SWEET
  • I had sex with him last night.
  • First Japanese NASCAR driver...
Actually from Hawaii but Japanese decent.
    His average finish was 37.5

Tet only raced three times in NASCAR and he was over his head at Daytona as witnessed in the 1961 Daytona 500 as he started 55th and finished 51st, only lasting 24 laps.

    Hendrick Motorsports
    Dale Earnhardt Inc.
Petty Enterprises also known as Richard Petty Motorsports

Can you name the car #s and drivers? Good luck and have fun with it!

    Richard Petty #41 Kellogg's
Hendrick #5 (Take your pick of the Drivers) Kellogg's
Terry Labonte #14 Kellogg's Chevrolet for BHM
Dale Earmhardt Sr #3 Goodwrench Kelloggs in 1994

    I give up ...!!!
  • Is the driver Terry Labonte? Not sure what the sponsors have in common though....maybe i am way off but here is what I found.

Terry drove the #92 Duck Industries Billy Hagen
#11 Bud for Junior Johnson and Associates
    #5 Kellogs for Earnhardt
Ran the #44 for Petty and borrowed that number to run again for Hendrick's research & development car.

  • What could Nascar do to speed up the action?

    May be...

  • Do away with the long pre-race shows and have a post-race show/interview.
  • I take it that you believe you are a fan, huh?

I don't care how boring people might think a race is, if you are a fan, the boring parts just make the excitement that much better.
  • Less pre-race.....ugh! But after the green flag drops I don't see your point. Nascar is exciting to me. But I do hate when they say a race "Starts at 230 on FOX" but in reality the prerace starts at 230 the race won't start until 4. I hate the pre-race.

    Just an opinion as always.
  • Lose the pace car. For incidents involving potential loss of life, red flag the race. Position cranes at the most likely accident sites to lift the wrecks off the track.
  • I don't really think Nascar wants to or can speed up the action. Cautions mean money to them in the way of commercial time. And I think the drivers need a break now and then.
This is what I do to speed up the action. When watching Nascar on TV I use a DVR. I set it to record the race. After the race has been on for at least 90 minutes I start watching it or if it is a afternoon race I can wait and watch it that night. I got feed up years ago with the commercials and cautions. I simply forward through all the commercials and only watch the cautions long enough to see the replays. This allows me to watch the race in about have the time. I'm only interested in watching the racing!
    Peace!
  • Nothing. NASCAR racing is the most action packed sport on this planet. Maybe it's just so intense your brain can't keep up with the action. Ball games are boring to me. At least in NASCAR they don't have to sit around and wait to take a turn. They're constantly moving, and they're moving fast! All at the same time. All the teams at the same time. What other sport includes every team in the league at once. Now that's what I call action!
  • I used to work a medic at our local dirt track.

The clean up crews @ Nascar do a great job and all things considered, fairly fast. They have to be very vigilant in their cleanup because a small piece of metal or a bolt could tear up another tire causing another pileup.

Also, the cautions are very important in the strategy of races. Many races have been decided on the use of pit stops during cautions.
  • It gets old hearing "fans" talk about dull these races are. I haven't watched a race yet that I considered dull. Some are better than others yes but none are boring. I would suggest you just not watch the first 3 hours.
  • swanktruth........Obviuosly the best part of you ran don't your mother's leg.............Rednecks huh?? There are 23 states and several foreign countries represented in NASCAR..............Does not sound "redneck" to me.................Go back into your cave!

In answer to the question; at a lot of tracks they get upwards of 200 miles per hours...........that's pretty fast!!!
  • you know what stop bitching about the races if you don't like them then stop watching. I'm so sick of these so called fans whining about it.
  • Add another lane, lol
  • A fairer restart policy--------------not right behind each other , but staggered, like racers start in the mile etc
  • Death race style weapons on the vehicles. No rules.

Get guys on death row to drive it.

I mean, that's 100 times better then watching some rednecks go around a circle 200 times.

    Rally racing > NASCAR
  • I agree about the cautions...sheesh they do get long. Actually its the laps they run after the wreck or debri that caused the caution is cleaned up. Like when they say three more laps before the green...why? Its cleaned up...let the guys race. Let the fans get something more for their money. I love racing...I am so addicted to my TV set and I get to go several times a year so I am not bashing at all I just want to see more racing and less stalling.
  • Nascar is #1. Football is only good for the Superbowl party, commercials and 1/2 time show. I like Baseball and Hockey. All other sports I would rank in order of how much I hate them. Basketball would rank at the top of that list.
  • On paper it would slow it down, but early in the history of the Craftsman Truck (now Camping World) series, they had a good idea.

Run the first half of the race, then have a mandatory caution and have all the cars come down pit road for adjustments, and have somewhat of a 15-minute break. Then after the break is over and a couple of pace laps, green flag is out for the second half!

Imagine how different races would be if that was in place. And also it would bring more importance into those early miles.
  • Too many stop and go's. Makes it hard to watch some races.how to destroy someone financially

Did Craftsman get a discount to renew sponsorship of the truck series?

    May be...

Has any of the terms of the contract been released to the public?
  • Craftsman did not renew its contract to sponsor the Truck series, it renewed it deal to be "The Official Tools" of NASCAR. Camping World is the new sponsor of the truck series. Being an "official" supplier of a product is a considerably less investment then being a title sponsor of one of their national touring series. The terms of the contract are probably very similar to the other "official" products of NASCAR such as Coors Light (official beer), Best Western (official hotel), and Bank of America (official bank).
  • It's possible....I am sure Nascar wanted to keep as many sponsors as possible no matter how big or small the commitment. I work in retail and have for years....the talk amongst our industry is that Sears/K-mart
the owners of the Craftsman line....will most likely file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this year. So to me, Nascar had to cut 'em a deal or they wouldn't/couldn't afford to do so. No, I don't think NASCAR ever releases facts/figures of contingency sponsors....don't remember them ever doing that....I could be wrong. Just an opinion as always.how much are the cheapest gamecubes
  • Who do you think will win the Nationwide series title in '09?

    May be...

  • I'm going with my favorite driver of the #88 JR Motorsports Chevy Brad Keselowski..He's gonna do it this yr.

Go Dale Jr & Hms & JR Motorsports
  • Here's to hoping Brad beats the Cup guys...
  • I agree on two issues...........It will probably be a cup driver and I think it is wrong......
  • Unfortuneately,it will be either Carl Edwards or Kyle Busch.I still disagree with Cup drivers racing for the championship in Nationwide.
  • Brad K. is going to win. I just know it. He was so good last year and calm too.
  • Now that he has decided to run the full season, I think Kyle Busch will win the title. The Gibbs cars were just unstoppable last year, and Kyle himself won ten races. I think we might see more of the same this year. However, I would rather see a Nationwide regular win the title.
  • Most likely Kyle or Carl. I'd rather it be a NNS regular though, but as long as the cup regulars are running full schedules, it's not likely to happen. (preferably Kyle)

Sorry to hear about your loss Maggie :(
    RIP Cody..
  • I do hope whopever wins it is NOT a cup driver. I really feel the Cup guys should only drive a limited Nationwide schedule to allow Nationwide drivers a chance at the Championship in their own series.

    Thanks so much Dave.
Our cute little long haired chihuahua died in his sleep yesterday. He was fine when I left in the AM but when the twins got home at 3:00 he was curled up on his pillow and was dead. He had his favorite toy "bo bo" a little red stuffed dog by his side. He was a much loved dog and passed away happy in his sleep knnowing he was loved. We are heartbroken and would like to thank everyone for their kind emails.
  • One of the Cup drivers thats running a full schedule (which is just wrong)
  • i am going whit the michigan driver brad keselowski
  • I would say Kevin Harvick

  • Nascar Trivia! Can you tell me when this happened?

    May be...

  • I'm pretty sure this happened in the 1989 Daytona 500. Davey Allison was the driver in the #28 Texaco/Havoline Thunderbird. He was part of the Alabama Gang, so the car was a star in the Motorsports Hall of Fame.
  • I believe FireStorm has it!!

If you miss Davey give this question a star!!
  • This driver was clipped by Geoff Bodine on the 23rd lap of the Daytona 500. The car skidded down the backstretch flipped over on it's roof and slammed into the retaining dirt wall. But here's the kicker the car was repaired and sent back out! With rolls upon rolls of duct tape this team got their car back onto the track and finished the race 25th!!!!!
The car was missing it's hood and scratched and dented on all 4 sides.
But this car was tough.....manufacturer tough! Can you name the driver? The car #? What year did this happen? This car was a real star when it was placed into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in Alabama.
Good luck and have fun with it!!!
  • I was there that year and yes it was Davey Allison. The car was for all practical purposes a total wreck but could still maintain the minimum speed to stay on the track. I believe this was pre-restrictor plates days so not a whole lot of pack racing going on at the time, maybe 2 or 3 cars lining up in a draft. By the way, the year was 1989 and it was a cool day at the track, THANK GOD FOR THE MALL ACROSS THE STREET THAT PROBABLY SOLD OUT OF COLD WEATHER GEAR ON SUNDAY MORNING.australian ford falcons
  • How many NASCAR fans don't care about the Super Bowl?

    May be...

  • i like both so i will watch the Super Bowl. Go Kasey Khane!
  • I care plus I live a block away from this years Superbowl.. I'm stoked actually. I'm going to the NFL experience tomorrow. But if it makes you happy Fluffy I'm playing at a metal bash tomorrow night. WIll probably rip out some Maiden, Judas Priest and Pantera buddy. I do love football as well.

    ^^^YAY^^^ Fulffy lives.
  • I'll probably go see a spooky movie at the theatre or do something else I can't do when i'm watching a race. I know a lot of you guys will watch football, but I aint got time. How many of you guys really don't care about football?
  • I liked the movie Water-Boy but that's about as far as I go liking foosball.
  • ZERO
  • I would watch a race, any day over a football game.

Football is too boring and the Super Bowl or any football game is a waste of time, as far as I am concerned.

    MHO
  • the same amount of football fans that dont care about nascar.
  • Well, sorry but I enjoy Football...not as much as NASCAR mind ya...but I will be watching the Super Bowl. Don't really care who wins since my beloved Cowboys have been eliminated....but I will still be watching. Just an opinion as always.
  • Football sucks.
  • not me.
i love the superbowl! even tho my least favorite team is in it this year [steelers]. but oh well :) lol
  • That's the only thing I can do in Sunday. If it's the Redskins, well thats a different story.
  • I love NASCAR way more, but I like my football too.I will be having a Super Bowl party that starts tomorrow night lol.
  • meee =]

i really think the super bowl is a waste. if pepsi or coke would take off just one of their superbowl commercials, they could send blankets to homeless people, or actually do something good with it. americans are way too selfish.

but that's not what the question is about. watching the race is so much more relaxing, and fun. i could care less about the super bowl.
  • I love nascar but i like the superbowl too!

    jeff gordon rox!
  • I like football and will watch the Superbowl even though the Detroit Lions aren't there!

For me the Superbowl helps to usher in the NASCAR season, because the following Saturday starts Speedweeks with the Shootout so I watch the Superbowl as part of my countdown to NASCAR!!
  • I never watch it, I dont understand football. I cant sit there and watch it, all I see is they throw the ball its caught, and they are tackled and the games last too long. I really dont care about football at all.
  • are you stating that you're a redneck!?
  • I dont really care about the game itself, just everything that goes on around the game (party/food, commercial, hanging out with family/friends). The last Super Bowl I thought was interesting was Panthers vs Patroits. The final score was NE 32, Carolina 29, which I found ironic. You see even with "29" Carolina was missing "3". And NC being Dales home and where RCR is located I found it amuzing in a sad way.

Also to Ty, I'd rather be sitting next to a rednack at a race than some fat guy with his shirt off, that has too much back hair and a letter painted on his fat gut and his face two different colors at a game.
  • I like to watch the super bowl. So I'll be watching it at home with my family and a couple of friends.
  • I watch football and will watch the super bowl because there will be nothing else on. I wont watch the 6hrs of pregame but will watch the game. I will watch Bruce Springstein and the E street band at halftime too and all the commercials, they are better than the game. Looking forward to the Budweiser and Miller(1 sec commercials).
  • I don't care about football at all. I have never understood the rules completely. Nascar is far better.
  • Sure I will watch it, I really do not care that much about who is playing, but I watch for the commericials and the half fime show, and John Legend is performing in the pre game show so I'll be watching. Besides theres no Nascar race on anyway. Have fun down there T-bone.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • I watch both.(thank God for picture-in-picture for the fall races) I'll watch as I do every year,
  • I never got into it. Sat down to try and get into it and just couldn't. I did tell my son I would watch it with him but I am cringing about that decision.
  • Me. Not a Big Football Fan here
    Racing Only
  • i love football but the pregame is so long and boring!!! I am looking forward to Springsteen half time show more than the game to be honest with you. I have to work until 5 so i should get to see the kick off and then wait.
  • I only care about the Super Bowl when the New England Patriots are in it. If my team is not there I don't watch.
  • I CARE ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL AND I LIKE NASCARonline radio stations for pocket pc

I am obsessed with rally racing (Dakar, WRC, etc) How do I become a driver?

    May be...

  • I am 16 years old and I LOVE racing. No not Nascar, real racing (Le Mans, F1, Rally, and the like) I really want to become a professional driver, how do I?
  • drift its better.
  • You don't have to go to rally school. You just need to build a car and start racing.

    Start here:
    www.specialstage.com
There you will find people and local events around rally. There are often people looking for crew and what not. Tag along and see what it takes. Best way to do it.
In a year or to go here:
    www.rallyclassified.com
and purchase a car and start racing.

Save some money. It's stupid expensive.
  • well you might want to check out schools for rally driving like this http://www.racingschools.com/rs/Rally-Ca... but you should get a college degree first
  • Rally is really cool, but a little dangerous. Have you tried doing any drag or auto cross? Having a background in knowing how to control a car in those situations would really help. Try getting in touch with a rally team, there is a guy on Mazdas247.com/forums that does road rally. If you are on any car forums you might try asking around on there, or looking for a rally based forum. You would have to wait until your 18 unless your parents are okay with you racing and willing to sign on all the paper work. Good luck! If you have more questions feel free to email me at paylew@gmail.com
  • Same, I love motorsport so much but unfortunately the only real way of getting into it is to invest quite a lot of money into the sport.

Getting an old stock car and modifying it... or checking out the specifications of the cars and entering yourself onto the rally.

It does cost a lot of money, and takes time. (at least Đ’Đˆ15k per year)

there are rally schools out there... but.. it'll take years to get into the sport

also you will never get into formula one... that would be as likely as going to the moon.

If only the world didnt revolve around money...

F1 & WRC... im obsessed with them
  • no matter what kind of racing you aspire to compete in, karting will be your starting point. most professional drivers have roots in karting at a young age. at 16 you're already behind if you're looking for a driving career...goldmemeber

  • Can a driver run his entire career in NASCAR without winning a championship and still be considered a success?

    May be...

  • of course. mark martin has done exactly that

of course there are always going to be people like t-bone with double standards. junior hasn't earned his paycheck because he hasn't won a championship he says. but i'll bet ya a steak dinner he wouldn't make the same statement about mark martin or kyle busch.
  • Robby Gordon will probably never win a Nascar championship; but he is a success in nascar and all the other motor sports he races in.

Jr. He is still young and has a whole life of racing ahead of him. He will win a championship at sometime. But if he does not; he will still be considered a success. He is a success already in my book.
  • Mark Martin comes immediately to mind. Junior Johnson, Ricky Rudd, heck, even Jeff Burton--those are some other guys who are successes without championships. I'm sure there are several more I don't know about from farther back.
  • It would be hard to call Mark Martin unsuccessful and he has never won a championship and even though I don't like Jr. , He probably sells 10 times his contract in merchandise
  • There can't be two number ones!!!

    That would be 11!!!
  • I personally think so. Jay Busbee wrote an article on Dale Jr. saying that it was time for him to "earn his paycheck"......What do you think about that?? I know there are a lot of Dale Jr. haters but if you look at his career numbers, they are not too shabby. I will be the first to say that he is not one of the TOP drivers but I think this guy is WAYYYY off base. Dale Jr. earns his paycheck by bringing in TONS AND TONS of revenue for Hendricks.................I dare to say he sells more stuff than either of the other guys in the stable and I am absolutely not taking anything away from Jimmie or Jeff.

    Thanks!!
  • Yeah I think so. If you can race at the cup level for several years and stay in the top 25 you have succeeded. Championship or not. You making it to the cup level is a success.
  • Mark Martin. Enough said.

    And Busbee is correct.
  • Yes, Mark Martin is a prime example of that! 2nd in points 4 times, 35 Cup wins, and 48 Nationwide series wins. He owned IROC for awhile and holds many records that may never be broken. I consider him a success. Dale Jr. is already a success even if he never wins another race.
    Peace!
  • Yes. Mark Martin as an example.
  • tony n Said it all he got to it before i did .They were the best of the best I THINK !!
  • yes it is possible. Mark Martin had a very successfull career and odds are he will never get a championship.
  • yes and I think Dale Jr. is a success. Jay Busbee is a idiot if he doesn't think that Jr. earns his paycheck.
  • Junior Johnson, Ricky Rudd, Mark Martin, Fred Lorenzen, and Buddy Baker are the living embodiment of bridesmaids. They were huge names without even needing a title (however I still believed Mark Martin got screwed in 1990).
  • Yes. It happens in every sport.. Dan Marino in football, John Stockton and Karl Malone in basketball, Ted Williams in baseball.
Why would NASCAR be any different? There are always great athletes in professional sports who will be celebrated for their greatness who people will always say "if only he had a championship"..

    Just my opinion.
  • Jr needs to earn his paycheck. Last year was put up or shut up and this year its sink or swim. Jay didn't say he was not successful. JAy merely stated its time for better results.

I read that article last night and knew it was a matter of time before being misconstrued by JR nation. Jay was spot on Lenny. Like an arrow on a bullseye.
  • That would just depend totally on one's definition of "success" I doubt any of the drivers out there who have had nice careers and won some races but no championships consider themselves to be losers.
  • Yes a driver can be a success without winning a Championship. Our fellow members of NASCAR Nation have provided us with several examples. But you see that doesn't matter to the folks that feel the need to drag Junior threw the coals at every opportunity they get. Junior has a lot of fans and folks dislike him for that.

    Let's take a little looky-poo at Junior's career stats.

    Sprint Cup - Races-327 Wins-18 Top 5-86 Top 10-136 Poles-8

    Nationwide - 22 wins and 2 Championships

Winner of the All-Star race XVI

    2004 Daytona 500 winner.

    Hmmmm....it's not to shabby huh?

Junior IS a success in my book. The only folks complaining are the the ones that have nothing better to do than b**ch. No offense to anyone. I don't hear Junior's team, team-mates, owners or sponsors complaining about Junior's accomplishments so I can't even give a thought to this dude's article.
  • Yep. Jr will get his one day.
  • JB doesn't know jack. DJ has more than earned his pay check. If he had never led a lap, won a race, or made the top ten, his name alone has paid for his career. Look how long it took his dad to win Daytona. It is all relative. DJ may never win a championship, but he is already a champion.
  • Yes they can...there are a lot of greats that never won a championship. Anyone who makes it in NASCAR and sticks around is a success.gremmy winners
  • What Daytona 500 race is most memorable to you!?

    May be...

  • 2004 Dale Earnhardt Jr. and 1998 after 20 years of trying 20 years Dale Earnhardt wins the Daytona 500.
  • 97 and 98 are tied for me. 97 my boy wins and The Intimidator puts donut on Jeff's drivers side and said if I can't win at least my Signature will be in Daytona USA . And then in 98 The Intimidator won and all of the crews came out to congratulate him.
  • 2001 and 2007.
I'd like to forget 2001 though.
  • Back-to-back 1997 and 1998. 1997 was a beautifully balanced race, as in a good amount of racing, wrecks, and the drama whose significance went up as the race went on. And the 1-2-3 Hendrick finish is just beautiful, all capped with the big one, and the funny images of DJ blowing the right-front tire into oblivion (complete with blown up fender and all). Could we also add Dale Sr. turning over in his 19th try?

Speaking of Dale Sr. and tries, the 20th time is the charm (Susan Lucci likes to say hi too). The race was a tad low on the action side (no one DNF'ed due to crash damage, an absolute rarity), but seeing Dale Sr. finally do it is a site to behold. The imagery of Dale Sr. rolling down pit road, with all the pit crews hi-fiving him, then doing burnouts, is without a doubt the most memorable in Daytona 500 history. It gives me literal goosebumps, and when I found the DVD at FYE, I bought that sucker.

A special mention goes to 2001, where in terms of memorable, is like one point back. The racing, the big one, and Dale Sr's passing all in one race makes an event like that epic, In a way, I compare it to the 2004 Super Bowl with its Nipplegate, because as awesome as that game was, Janet Jackson will always be remembered,
  • 2007 when NASCAR failed epically at trying to get the winner right.

I'd say 1998 when Big E won, and when in 1997 Gordon won his first 500 are also very memorable.
  • Sadly to say it was 2001. It would stand out for just the reason everybody thinks, but for me it was also my 25th birthday. So it can never be erased from my history. Every year when someone says "happy birthday", it brings me back to that day. So ironically, if you want me to have a happy birthday, don't remind me its my birthday.
  • 2001. It was the first race I really watched. The massive wrecks and tight racing took me in. My dad was an Earnhardt fan, so he was elated when DEI drivers finished 1-2. Then I said "Yeah, but earnhardt crashed." and my dad said "so?" Then we heard he died and were totally confused. In 02, my favorite driver won, but 01 was most memorable.
  • 1998 When Senior finally won the elusive 500
2001 Will be etched in my heart forever :(
    2004 When Junior won

Those years are kind of tied together in a way for me.
  • 2007, I was there was 1998 is way up there too.
  • Mine 1998 win Earnhardt finally wins after soooooooo many tries.
  • Sterling Marling winning in 1994 and 1995.
  • I would have to agree with you, Totally!
  • for the wrong reasons, 2001 when Tony Stewart flips and ends up in hospital and Sr dies on last lap. Felt SO bad for Mikey, to finally win a race after 463 or so starts but have your car owner and good friend die, couldn't imagine the emotions he went though
  • For me, it was the 2001 Daytona 500 for Earnhardt getting killed. I didn't say it was memorable for a good reason, but I think that has to be it.

If you want one that has a good feeling to it, it was the 2007 Daytona 500, mostly for the wild finish.
  • DALE SRS WIN GO DALE
  • The 1995 one when Sterling Marlin won it and it was the first race I ever actually sat down and watched after meeting Dale Sr. the December before and him suggesting I watch it.
Then 1998 when he did get his first win there!!!
  • For me it was the 1998 Daytona 500 and Dale Sr finally got that awesome win, and I was there to see it. (R.I.P Dale Sr)

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Unfortunately, 2001 sticks out. I hope this year is good.
  • The race I can remember for when the time I tell my grand kids is 1991, 2007, and 2008.
  • When the INTIMIDATOR won back in 1998. v
  • 2001 - When Tony Stewart's car flip up-side-down on top of the #4 car in what I thought would be the worst wreck of that day, sad to say it was not. :-(
  • I gotta agree with almost everyone here, with Dale Sr. finally taking the checkered flag in 1998 after 20 years of trying.

    # 2 was 2004, when Dale Earnhardt Jr. won it.

While it isn't a Daytona 500 memory, I have to remember the 2001 Pepsi 400 when Jr won and Mikey finished second and they hugged on the infield after Sr's death. Wasn't a dry eye in the place.

I still get misty watching it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmphcMC-f...
  • 1998 When Dale Earnhardt Sr. finally won the big race that eluded him for so many years....I agree!

    *JAKD*
  • 1998 was the best but I loved 2007 too cause that was the first Daytona 500 win for RCR since Earnhardt died. 2004 was great too.
  • All of them have been great but to me the 1979 race when NASCAR was "introduced" to the world on CBS....Cale/Donnie/Bobby duking it out on the backstretch while Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip went on to fight for the win. It was a very memorable moment.

    Just an opinion as always.

    Nascar Nation... ?

    May be...

  • I don't.

Have a great day tony n and welcome!!!
  • As much as I would love to see him return, I don't think he could even if he wanted to.

Welcome to the Nation Tony N.
  • i hope he would he was a good driver but i dont see it

welcome to NASCAR Nation tony n good luck!
  • No sadly I think Jerry is finished. Welcome tony n ,Have A Great Day !
  • I wish he would but I think that he can't because of the injury that took him out in the first place. Also to Tony N, Welcome to the NASCAR forum, man.
  • Welcome to the show Tony!!!

In answer to your question; I think Nadeau will be a NO DO in the return department.................

    Have a good one!!!
  • I don't think that Jerry Nadeau will return. That's was too frightening an experience.

Welcome Tony N! The Nascar Nation is a great group to be a member of!
  • Jerry is a great guy I really like him alot but as for making it back? I don't think so.
  • I would love if Jerry Nadeau could return, I miss him very much. It unfortunately will not happen because he never recovered enough from his brain injury to get back in a race car.

Welcome to the Nation Tony N. It can sometimes be a bit of a crazy place but it is a great place to hang out nonetheless.
  • What was the wreck that changed him? I'll need to see it before I can judge.
  • Nope...Jerry will not be returning to race I am sorry to say.

Welcome to our house Tony N....come on in and pull up a chair...you will find for the most part we are a pretty friendly bunch....

    CHEERS!!!!
  • jerry's finished
  • Thanks for welcoming me to the party Tom, wOOt! And also thanks to everyone else who has welcomed me.

And to butcher his last name, a return is no-can-do. He'd be lost in the shuffle, and his star was unfortunately well on his way down by the time Richmond came to call.
  • Nah, Jerry has been out of pro racing for years. If he does, I think no team would be interested unless he's part of a crew.

Welcome to one and only nation here in Y!A tony n!!!
  • Nooo....

Welcome to the Nation, Tony N.
I hope you enjoy it here :)
  • Nope, Jerry is Toast.

    Welcome to tony n.

    And there was much rejoicing.

    Yaaaaaay
  • Nope i don't think so sorry to say!!

Tony N, welcome to NASCAR NATION !!!!.
  • Jerry Nadeau ... sadly I don't see him ever stepping into a Sprint Cup car.
One hit like that...changed his life forever. ust glad he still has his life.

Tony N, welcome to NASCAR Nation. you should fit in good. Hope your an EGR fan. If not...well I still be your buddy. Welcome!
  • unfortunately not, hate when anyone loses the chance to chase their dream because of an accident, Like Steve Park
  • No, sadly I don't. He had a promising career, but an accident took that.

I am just glad that he is alive and can spend time with his little girl, and is relativly ok, he will always have effects, but like he said in an interview, he can walk, he can talk, he can raise his little girl.

Tony N have a great day, congrats, and welcome to NASCAR Nation.
  • Welcome to our little corner of the world. I hope you like it here as much as we do. It's alot of fun here. Enjoy your day.
  • Unfortunately Jerry is now just a part of history. His racing time is over.

Welcome tony n! This place is a great place to celebrate NASCAR, so enjoy.

    *JAKD*
  • Nope, don't see it happening.

Congrats on your day Tony N. any friend of the Prez's has to be cool. Welcome to the Nation. I can already tell by your answer that I am going to like you. Have a great day!
  • Bye bye Jerry bye bye!!!

And welcome Tony N to the NASCAR NATION!!!
  • I would hope Nadeau would come back, but it doesn't look good.
Hi, Tony n. Welcome to the freak show(LOL)!
  • If he did come back it wouldn't be in the top three Nascar ranks. There is just so much new talent out there I don't see it happening. I wish him the best of luck in his life.

Welcome tony n to our Nascar family in here. Any friend of the Prez is a friend of mine. Have a great day!

**1/4 inch of ice here today in east Texas, my pine trees are taking a beating.**
  • Nope can't see Jerry Nadeau making a come back or return. Welcome aboard to Nascar Nation Tony N you are gonna love it here.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • No. Why can't you put the question in the first square like everyone else. It's annoying to have to click on the "question" to see what the question is. No offence, just some constructive criticism. : )
  • I dont think he ever will not for the foreseeable future..
welcome to the Nascar world!! and enjoy the upcoming season Tony n!!!
  • Only way he'll come back is if he gets a ludicrous offer, and even then I think he might be weary.

A hit like he had would scare me enough to want to never do it again.

I say no. But hell, I thought Mark Martin was gonna retire too :P

    Hi Tony N!
  • You think Jerry Nadeau will ever make a return?

Today we will honor a new member here...

    tony n

He's a buddy of mine so how about a big welcoming party from Nascar Nation?
  • It's over for Jerry. He's retired from racing. Welcome Mr. Tony N to the NATION of NASCAR.continental one pass partners
  • Is NASCAR better today then 10-20 years ago?

    May be...

  • I have mixed feelings on the subject. There is a LOT more competition today than ever before,as opposed to 10 or more years ago when there were only a handful of drivers that could realistically win races and championships. However, the racing was more exciting back in the day because there weren't as many rules and NASCAR didn't punish everyone for every exciting thing that they do(i.e. punishing Logano Saturday night for going for the win at all costs, getting into altercations after the race,etc.).
The COT has really made a lot of the races boring and the modification of some tracks(Bristol is the perfect example) have made those tracks almost painful to watch.I guess some would argue that Jimmie Johnson's domination has watered down the sport a bit(of course,I wouldn't).I still love NASCAR but they could make it a lot better than it's current state.
  • My opinion is that with all the sponsors out there it is getting to political and away from what got them there. Safety is far better then it was and not what I had in mind with asking this. I applaud them for all the safety advancements.
  • From the drivers safety aspect the sport has totally revolutionized literally overnight.

Sadly, the car is now so heavy and I fell that the racing has deteriated. Drivers are now satisfied with second place.

I held that opinion all of last year until it came to 'Dega. That was some of the best racing I had ever seen.
  • NO i don't think so.
  • I agree with Jeff C. I think he deserves the top answer. just my opinion, but your question was answered directly and his answer wasn't two years long... thanks for the points, i needed them.
  • 20 years ago NASCAR was a better sport.Sure today there are advancements that have made it safer for drivers, crews and fans, and this is great. But the spirit of competition seems to be less today.
20 years ago when teams pulled into the track they had to quailify for position or go home.Today there are 35 free rides and young or new teams don't have a good chance with quailifing and racing.Too many of todays drivers(and teams)are media puppets that want to win popularity contest instead of races.
Then there is the political aspect of the sponsorship this is causing good teams to be restricted in what they do because of lack of funds.
    Limit number of teams
    Open sponsorship
Have all teams quailify, fastest 43 race.
  • Well I have a comment or two. To me, the safety is tons better which is a great thing. The racing is a different subject. While today's racing is very exciting and enjoyable at times.....to me NASCAR was absolutely fantastic 20 years ago. There was less sponsors and less TV coverage BUT the racing was always news worthy....bumping and banging, spins, and guess what none of the "political" crap that goes on now. NASCAR let the drivers be themselves....which made a better sport. If NASCAR was the way it is now back then....we may have never had an Intimidator, a Mr. Excitement, or a Rooster.
Why NASCAR does have lots of great things now....to me the 80's will always be the source of many fond memories.

    Just an opinion as always.
  • In terms of exposure. WAY better. Unlike 10-20 years ago, when races were scattered about 5 or 6 channels, and the stations would not promote any race on a rival channel, the schedule, though still loaded with 3 or 4 channels (depending on your point of view), is set up in a way that the flow from one to the next is much better, and with agreements, when Fox switches over to TNT, who switches over to ESPN/ABC, the races are still promoted. If you want to know about a NASCAR race, its pretty easy to know whats going on in terms of it being out there. What I would like to see is just one network (or a partnership of 2 networks) have the entire season. We know FOX and CBS cant do it to due to NFL commitments, ABC/ESPN could make sense, since they really dont have a commitment to any of the major sports. NBC... ok forget about them, we know how bad they screwed up, and alienated NASCAR themselves (gee, lets overload the races with commercials... lets take an arab looking guy to a NASCAR race for Dateline, just so we can get a reaction... yeah, good way to improve your odds in getting the contract renewed).

In terms of sponsors, I would also say its ok. With NASCAR having much more exposure, it makes more sense to plunk down money to put your name on a stock car. I understand the economy is crap right now, but if NASCAR can stay rather popular, and once the economy picks back up, things should be ok again, and sponsors willing to put money down on the cars. I would have a feeling that if we had as crippling of a recession 10-20 years ago that we have today, NASCAR would still exist, but it would of been hurt much more than it is today.

In terms of competition, like before. WAY better. 10-20 years ago, if you had more than 10 winners in a season, that was considered an ultra competitive season. Today, if you have less than 10 winners in a season, something is up. It does help that about half of the cars fielded are fielded by A-list teams like Roush, Hendrick, Gibbs, etc., but there are plenty of other cars out there that can run for at least top 10's, or can even give some of the top teams a scare every other race. Yeah, that might mean that a Derricke Cope style upset at Daytona in 1990 might not be as shocking now as it was then, but there is competition. Even the Championship isnt necessarly going to be between 4 or 5 guys at best... AT THE START OF THE SEASON!!! This is the one thing I like about the Chase, sure, I can understand how some of the traditionalists dont like it, but I like it because it does throw a bit of a monkeywrench into the season, and if someone flat out dominates, they cant just let up, they got the last 10 races to go, not to mention with all of the competition, there are lots of drivers who realistically are title contenders at the start of the season.

In terms of how it is run however. Thats where it goes a bit awry. First off, with NASCAR's race decisions lately, that has really hurt people trusting the guys at Daytona Beach. Also alienating some of the more traditional fan base hasnt helped much, but when change happens to modernize a sport, it cant really be helped, just got to try and manage it. There are some decisions that quite frankly, people have to understand that hey, they are trying to make change in the name of safety, or other reasons, just let it happen. It does make me wince sometimes when NASCAR makes some of these decisions, but some fans have to use common sense, rather than their heart. Also, NASCAR does need to let the drivers show some emotion. Does it mean pulling a stunt like Logano did on the track, or having 2 guys duke it out on the apron after they wreck their cars? No, but there are other aspects where NASCAR should be hands off, and let the drivers be human, rather than robots. I do like the COT decision in a way. They should of worked with some things on it, but 10-20 years ago, we had fans complaining weekly that their car brand was being disadvantaged. Now that we have the cars equal, people are complaining about that. What do you want, unequal cars, and complain about that, or equal cars, so at least thats one less thing to worry about. The COT does make sense in a way on cutting costs on building race cars and such, that I will say.

Overall, in some aspects, its better, some aspects, it is not.
  • I am 17. I didn't start watching NASCAR till 2005. The way I see it, embrace the change or be destroyed by it.
  • A lot more politics but the racing is better.marriott in london england
  • Nascar Nation, I bought a gold fish and I need a Nascar related name...?

    May be...

  • If its a big fat goldfish, I would name it Mike Helton.

But looking for a NASCAR related name, im kinda partial to Rusty (which is what i named my one goldfish once).
  • I like your ideas on names but I have one for you since you are a Elliott Sadler fan. I know you probably know he has Tennessee Walker hounds he hunts with, how about naming it Walker. I know it sounds goofy but hey so am I.

    The 3rd from the top:

  • Checkers, BaloneyBurger, Hot Rod, Jeff, Fast Elli, Sad Sack, ....I don't know. We only ever had one goldfish and his name was Spike.
  • Well Prez....I think Sparkplug, Phoenix, BestBuy, Charlotte, and Pocono would be good names. But Checkers works for me too.
Good luck with your new pet.....my son has been thru oh about a hundred or so. We can never get 'em to live. Maybe it's us.....poor Gold fish! LOL!

    Just an opinion as always.

What's up with the thumbs down??? Hey it ain't like we let 'em die on purpose! Maybe I should ask a question in the pets section....hmmmmmm.

  • Checkers sounds good to me.
  • Joey Logano, the car colors? If Logano ends up being really good, name him Depot. Helpful hints: Don't put the tank on top of a fridge, I was stupid when I was 5.
  • See which name he responds to. Call him Buddy Baker
  • Checkers or Elliott have my vote & if you can't deceide on either name, looks like you'll have to go get another one. Lol
  • Fire Storm after a valuble member of the NASCAR Nation?
  • Any ideas? This is what he looks like:
    http://aquariumfish.name/images/goldfish...
  • I really like Checkers. I'll share some names I thought of, though:

    Tona (after Daytona)
    Dega (after Talladega)
    Glen (after Watkins Glen)
    Speed
    Aero

  • Andretti to drive for Earnhardt Ganassi?

    May be...

  • yep, I see it on Jayski.com they are usually in the know http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news41

partnering with Front Row Motorsports, hmmm

somebody with Fox has it too http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/91...

    I am happy for him.
  • Has any one heard this?
  • Oh no not again. He is horrible. Seriously horrible. Just as I thought that team was moving in the right direction.

Yeh lets not hire Mayfield, Scott Pruett, Tony Raines or even darned JJ Yeley but get Andretti instead. Terrible move.
  • WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!
    John Andretti!! My hometown hero!!
He better get the ride at EGR.

    Great Driver
  • I saw it on Jayski.....but I don't think it is final yet. I see Marlin landing the ride.....but who knows....it'd be great seeing Andretti land a competitive ride. But it concerns me that EGR is looking at yet ANOTHER merger with Front Row motorsports???? What is the deal?
    Is EGR sinking or what?

    Just an opinion as always.
  • Yep, I'm really glad to, I like John Andretti a ton and hopefully this is a good enough ride to get him competitive in at least one race.
  • No I hadn't, but thanks for the Info! I really like John Andretti and always have. I don't think he will be very competitive in this car, but at least he has a ride for this season! I have a feeling rides for mediocre drivers are going to get harder and harder to find.
    Peace!
  • Yeah, its great, but the only other unemployed driver looking for a ride that I would want in there more would be Johnny Sauter.
  • Thank's for the input Fart. Didn't know that one. Good for John.
  • I just read the article. Seems like there's a whole lot more to it than him just driving for EGR in the 500. Here's the link. http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug...
  • I just heard something about this on the Nascar Channel on Sirius Satelite radio, I hope it works out for John, hopefully the equipment can be successful as well.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • wouldn't be the first time, he's driven for DEI before. i'd expect him to do about as well there as he did the first time around.

What is the closest Nascar race if I live in Millbrae?

    May be...

  • I believe that would be Infineon Raceway, in Sonoma. Just about 50 miles from Millbrae CA.
  • You are close to Infineon, its a road course, I like it I come up there to the Nascar race and IRL race every yr. Then you are probably 6-8 hr drive to Fontana (depending on our wonder Calif traffic) There are some local dirt tracks up in No Calif as well, but as far as big races these are the two.. Hop on a plane and go to Las Vegas, love the Vegas race, I go every yr.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • The only track NASCAR comes to in the Bay Area is Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. This year it's the Toyota/SaveMart 350 on June 21st. It's a road course so speeds won't get over about 120 mph. However, if you're willing to make a little longer of a drive, I highly recommend going to one of the races at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. It's a 2-mile oval track so speeds will be a lot greater. This year there's the Auto Club 500 on Feb. 22nd (the race after the Daytona 500) and the Pepsi 500 on Oct. 11th (4th race in the Chase For The Cup Series.) I've been to both tracks and I definitely enjoyed the races in Fontana much more.
  • what
  • I need to know.family restroom sign
  • Nascar pit lane daytona 500?

    May be...

  • Be sure to buy something generic for the 500.

Would you walk up to Tony Stewart with a Juan Pablo shirt and ask him to sign it?

And Biner is right, be sure to ask the reporters too. They are some of the coolest people you will ever meet.
  • grab one of the tires they leave behind.i did.cut it in half;got a pic of rusty wallace in one, jeff burton in the other.
  • It's impossible. There's so many people on pit road and your at least 15 feet away from the drivers.
  • Make sure you bring at least two sharpie's. My friend's son had driver's sign his baseball cap. Buy yourself a few item's of your choice at a NASCAR souvenir hauler. Just a word of advice, be patient with the driver's when seeking an autograph and don't forget to include pit road reporter's. They are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.Hope this helped.
  • Sure...why not?

A poster, or a diecast car would suit well.

    Have fun!
  • Are the tickets pre-race access for the 500? If so the drivers aren't there. They get there a couple of minuets before the concert starts. Most of the popular drivers sneak in so they won't be seen. Most of them don't sign autographs before the 500 because they are concentrating on the biggest race of the year.
  • i got tickets to go to pit lane for the daytona 500 and i was wondering sould i take some thing for the drivers to sign? if so what sould i take for them to signre wireing

  • I have seen it but not in awhile....not at retail. You may want to prowl around ebay or craigs list....surely it could be found at a somewhat reasonable price on either one of those websites. Good luck with completing your collection.
    Just an opinion as always.
  • No i haven't seen it. Sorry.
  • Do I understand that you did see the 2008? If so, they are probably out of production now. I would say they are gearing up for 09. If you are sure that they produced them, call the Wal-Mart stores in your area. They may still have some.

I changed my story. I did find out they did Matt's car. Here is one on ebay cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Winners-Circle1-...cam live square time

  • What did you guys think of the Rolex 24?

    May be...

  • Glad Montoya finished 2nd. And Glad Mark Donahue won for Porsche. Great Race.
  • I watched some of it. It was ok.
  • Did anyone notice that you coulda walked right into the infield for free?
  • Fantastic Finish, Im glad it as close this year.
  • What did you guys think of the Rolex 24?
I thought the last 2 hours of racing was about as good as it gets
Were you happy with the results?
    Did you enjoy watching it?
    Did you Watch it?
    Do you care?
  • I thought it was a great way to kick off Speedweeks. I watched on FOX-Saturday and at the end. It was great racing.

I do care, because it takes a lot of skill to race in the Rolex 24, I have been watching it for years (About 20 years ago, I used to watch the coverage on TBS, when they would provide coverage on the top of the hour). It means to me that NASCAR season is about to start.
  • Yes those last 2 hr were great, I was cheering for the Ganassi team, but it was great seeing David Donohue finally getting the 24 hr. It was a great race, I always enjoy watching it,I look forward to it every yr. I've been to the race 3 times, its great.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • It is not my style of racing. However,I have to agree with some others on here and say that the last couple of hours was pretty fricking exciting-had me on the edge of my seat rooting for my man Montoya.
  • I LOVED IT!!! that was some real good racing. 4 cars within 2 seconds after 23 hours!
  • It was amazing. I'm still chilly though. Some dumb broad spilled a bottle of iced tea on my sleeping bag. Whatever happened to the guy on the jet ski? Did he complete the 24 hours?
  • I think it was one of the best Rolex 24's ive seen. I mean seriously.... 4 DP cars on the lead lap for most of the entire race.... sooo exciting. It was also the first time i watched all live coverage.

Soo many funny things they showed in the garage area too. Did anyone see the part about the $60,000 dollars of Pirelli tires??? i mean wow 16,000 sets of tires in that one tent. That was pretty cool how they showed teams taking old tires back, ordering new ones...

I cant remember but the commenters, kept making funny comments on the race on Saturday night, i remember one quote "These teams are too lazy, i remember back in the good days there were only 2 of us driving"

A crazy part was during the Hour 4 pit stops when both leader and 2nd place cars (Law and Montoya) both stalled their cars after pitting, that was crazy....

Another funny part was in the morning hours, they did a segment on what people do in the infield during the race, i got a couple laughs.

I kept getting mad when the #2 DP Childress car kept going behind the wall early in the race. I really wanted them to stay up front.

So after they were out of contention for the win, i then started cheering for the # 01 of Jaun Pablo Montoya (mainly the final 3 hours) That was some exciting racing.

But yeah i think if i rated each part of the race, the first 6 hours and the last 3 hours were the best.
  • I loved it, best Rolex in recent memory!!

most laps completed Donohue wins 40 years to the day after his father!!

    I'm going next year definitely!!
  • yes
  • What a race! The top 4 cars were seperated by only 2 seconds. Montoya's car was great in the infield part but the 58 car was great on the nascar track. Montoya was right behind the 58 but once the entered nascar turn 1 he would lose all of it. Since students can get into the infield for $15 there's lots of parties going on and underage drinking. This kid passed out from drinking too much and they had to call the amabulance. I head this guy say to the ER that his friend was 15. This other guy was trying to climb the fence in the infield and run towards the track but was unsuccessful. These girls went streaking and one got tired and sat down. A couple of minuets later she passed out naked.I was in the garages around 1 AM and had to use the bathroom. As I looked Casey Mears was next to me. That was weird.
  • I caught glimpses but missed the end. Nascar gets me going, that, not so much. I did laugh quite hard when AJ blew up.
  • I watched a little of it, but watched the last two hours which were the best. I was hoping Montoya would re-pass Donahue, but his 8 cylinder car DP was no match for that 6 cylinder on the straight away. I was hoping the GT's would hold up traffic more so Montoya could pass. What a wild race!
  • I only saw parts of it, but what I saw, I enjoyed. I was pulling for Ganassi, with JPM doing well up to the last half hour. Not my favorite type of racing, but better than no racing. Only 2 more weeks to go....

Top 5 worst paint schemes of 2009?

    May be...

  • Does anybody else notice how similar Newman's Hass scheme looks to Dale Sr.'s car?
  • it aint even no paint involved in it ~its a wrap!!
and you didnt mention david ragans
  • Looks don't matter too much to me, but Menard's car is pretty ugly.
I'm more interested in why you're an ogre now. Did you get a promotion up from troll? LOL

EDIT: You need new friends. : )
  • I actually can not stand Dale Jr's Schemes at all! Way to much white.
  • Well Prez, unfortunately I am going to have to disagree with you on most of 'em. I love the #96 car....I think it'll look great on the track.
    I like the #39 scheme...just don't like the #39 numerals...think they look too cartoonish or something...just don't match the 14 that well.
I like Paul's car....it's not great but not too bad. I hate the BURGER KING car so I'll agree with you on that one. And I like the old spice/office depot cars. Just my opinion as always.....no offense.
  • I agree with you for the most part:

    1. #02 Farm Bureau Insurance
    http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2009/02cup...
    2. #39 Haas
    3. #14 Burger King
    4. #5 Cheez-It
    5. #14 Old Spice
  • Menards is not that great, But Bowyers is just plain and boring. Don't worry Mr Prez Nascar Nation doesn't thing you are a Orge.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • lol, i agree.
  • i hate the 98 car just awful was the guy drnk while dawing it?
i like 14 burger king as a johnson fan his car is bad.
  • lol i like em all
  • How is Menards Ugly? I love that scheme
  • they all suck bad
  • in no order:

    #98 Menards

    #6 UPS

    #33 Cheerios

    #43 McDonalds

    #47 Clorox
  • Paul Menard's is kinda plain. Not ugly, just plain.

Are you hanging around with supermodels or something? You're not ugly. You look Italian, and you have an Italian sounding name, it's a well known fact that Italian men are sexy. Just sayin'..
  • They all are pretty awful, but the worst may be Labonte's then Menard's!
  • I agree with Carol about the 33. That car is UGLY. I feel for Clint Bowyer after being in a great looking car last year and now going into that.

Not many of the other cars are just horrible looking but some of the numbers look horrible. Tony Stewarts cars for example. I like the base schemes but the numbers suck.
  • Sorry Stewart fans, nothing against him but SHR has some really bad artists. Lol

    1. Ryan Newman's Haas Automation car
    http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2009/39cup...
    2. Bobby Labonte's Ask.com car

    3. Paul Menard's John Manville car
    4. Tony Stewart's Burger King car
    http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2009/14cup...
    5. Tony Stewarts Oldspice/Office Depot cars
  • David Ragan's
    Clint Bowyer's
    Newman's Haas
  • You know absolutely nothing about bad paint schemes!!

4 of the 5 you named are awesome

The Ask.com car of Labonte looks cool, why don't you like it because it is blue?

The Burger King Car looks cool and the colors are somewhat unusual.

    Both of Tony's are awesome!!

    Ryan's looks pretty cool!!

    The five worst

    1. The Paul Menard ride you mentioned,

    2. Elliott Sadler's Stanley ride is ugly wow black and yellow we haven't seen that before

    http://jayski.com/teams/19.htm

    3. The 33 Cheerios is too plain.

    http://jayski.com/teams/33.htm

    4. #20 Farm Bureau Insurance Camry

    http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2009/20cup...

    5. I don't like the number style on the #6 UPS

    http://jayski.com/teams/6.htm
  • LOL ya you might need some new friends.

But dude Newman Haas car and Stewarts Oldspice/Office Depot car are great looking cars. But you right thats the beauty of an opinion.

  • Biggest bonehead move of 2009?

    May be...

  • Either that one (Kevin LePage is an idiot...) or Greg Sniffle running out of talent when Carl Edwards was drafting with him in the fall Taladega race....
  • yes every time DW says we are still waiting for the Big one it happens.. maybe they need to bleep that out
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05mGAWpnR...

I like how EVERY time they mention the big one and how it hasn't happened yet, it always happens that lap.
  • I forgot about that LOL.WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!

I thought I was supposed to blend in by jumping up in front of a whole pack of guys running 196 mph when my car was only running 112 mph....heh heh heh. That is the bonehead move of the millenium!
  • My only comment about that is that Lepage said in an interview that he was under the assumption that when he got to Turn 1 he was supposed to blend into the race track, instead of waiting until the backstretch to do so.

Does it take the blame off of him? No, it really doesn't. He wrecked like 20 cars, and could have killed someone. However, it really is his crew chief's fault as much as it is his fault: his CC should have told him NOT to go up on the track because the pack was coming, but either he didn't or Lepage didn't hear him.
  • i guess Carl Edwards and his video game manuever would win that award..

but you are right...as soon as DW says that...BAM!!!!!!!!!!! Its like speaking it into existance.
  • It's not hard to predict the big one at a restrictor plate race. With only a few laps to go the drivers are tired and going 200 mph and the only way they can pass is to start nudging out of the way. You can look and tell the cars are becoming impatient the way they move around a lot and start getting wiggly. That was a bonehead move on Kevin Lepage's part. No other excuse for that particular wreck.
  • yes, biggest bonehead move.

i think the biggest bonehead move of 2009 will be at watkins glen and montoya intentionally wrecks harvick (and yes, i do realize that was from 2007)
  • Hmmm, what if DW mentions it every green flag laps? Interesting.
  • Yeah, I know. That's just plain hilarious...... "The Big one blah blah blah"
BAM!!!!!!!!!!! When I saw that wreck on TV while that race was going on, I was freakin' out!!!!!
  • Danica Patrick busting open a guy's skull on the pit road of Indy last year..................
  • That decision by LePage shows why he doesn't have a full time gig. Who would drive right up in front of the whole pack?desniy channle
  •
