Who will win the nationwide race at M.I.S.?

May be...

  • Welcome Back Greenbean!

And JR's Motorsports' Brad Kesiowisi (don't know how to spell it) will win the Nationwide Race at Michgan International Speedway at his hometrack in front of his hometown fans!!!!!!!!
  • Carl Edwards

glad to see you back greenbean!!!!!!
  • Carl and the Aflac Duck!
(or is the duck just a ride along today..lol)

if not Carl, then Smoke..neat car today, love the paint scheme

wow the thumbers are really working today
  • Brad Keselowski is going to win it at his home state!!!!
  • You all know me, i'm gonna be rooting for Clint Bowyer.
  • I'm feeling brave today GB..I'm gonna say David Ragan!

    *See what bravery gets me?*
  • probably Carl or Tony
  • I want Brad Keselowski to win, but I think its gonna be Vickers or Smoke.

Go Dale Jr & Hms & JR Motorsports
  • Tony Stewart for me "beanie". lol
  • Who here thinks this Jimmie Johnson rumor is stupid?

    May be...

  • I don't because it's the truth. You'll see
  • I doubt very seriously that Jimmie Johnson would ever leave HMS. HMS is where all drivers that want to be bigtime is trying to go. Its just a goofy rumor that someone that doesnt have anything better to do is putting it out there. He has never said anything negative about HMS or Nascar for that fact. Jimmie is a class act and wouldnt bolt at the first thing come his way. Yes, the rumors are STUPID!
  • Jimmie Johnson is not leaving Hendricks.

    (Hope that helps your cause)
  • relax. jimmie will drive the 81 Truck for Moss Motorsports in the O'Reily 200 @ Bristol [for the Crafstman Truck Series] only. this is the rumor
and has nothing to do with jj leaving HMS. his brother jarit convinced him to do it just for 'fun'.
  • Yep, rumors drive me nuts, but until I hear offical annoucements I don't believe anything anymore...Jimmie is happy with HMS, why in the world would he ever ever want to leave..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • i do
  • I've never heard of this rumor but i'm pretty sure he will have a lifetime contract with Hendrick. GO 48!!!
  • I know, right?
  • I agree. It is stupid.
  • This is the first I've heard of it happening. I'm sure it's just a rumor probably started by Teresa Earnhardt the Golddigging Ho.
  • Who ever is starting the rumor is stupid because we know it's not true. He is very happy with HMS, and he's making tons of money. There is no reason why he would leave. I also know that if anything big happened in Nascar ESPN would be all over it, and I watch ESPN constantly. Everybody help me tell these people Jimmie Johnson is not leaving Hendricks.
  • I think they were thinking of Timmy Thompson or the Jimmie Johnson from that country song when he goes fishin' with his dad and doesn't want the girl to go along.....
  • Again it amazes me how gullible people are. When the say it on ESPN then it is true, but I have not heard that yet.
  • Jimmie seems happy at HMS for now, why would he leave? Drivers choose to leave for many different reasons but I don't see any that would make him want to.
  • I know girl !!!! I couldn't do anything but smack my lips and sigh when I seen what was going on. It is so ridiculous that the rumor got started in the first place. Everybody IT IS NOT TRUE!!!!! Jimmie is staying right where he is at, driving for Jeff!!!! Now.
  • Jimmie Johnson is staying put at Hendrick Motorsports. The last I heard he was signing a life contract like his teamate Jeff Gordon did 1999, dear.
  • Nascar fans did you all see this in the Detriot Free Press?

    May be...

  • nope dont get that paper
  • Very intersting for sure. I agree with just about all of them. After reading the first one I had to take a double look to make sure what I was reading was right. I can see Rowdy in a Batman movie, Im not sure what part but definetly interesting.
  • NO
  • Interesting! Yeah, I can't wait to see Batman v Busch! That's one Batman movie I'd pay to see!

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Mike Brudenell's rankings of the world's best drivers from various series, based on victories, points and doors banged:
    RK LW DRIVER COMMENT
    1. (1) Kyle Busch Move over Batman
    2. (3) Scott Dixon Kiwi owns IndyCar Series
    3. (2) Lewis Hamilton F1 star taking a rest
    4. (5) Carl Edwards Readying backflip for MIS
    5. (6) Jimmie Johnson Chevy ace set to show hand
    6. (4) Dale Earnhardt Jr. Looking to sweep Michigan
    7. (7) Jeff Burton Veteran hanging tough
    8. (8) Jeff Gordon Looking for some luck Sunday
    9. (9) Helio Castroneves Sick of finishing second
    10. (--) Greg Biffle Race win just around the corner

I thought it was pretty interesting, especially the Move over Batman part. I can visualize a new Batman Movie in the works for Rowdy.
  • Yeah, great job Mike. My four year old daughter could have compiled this list. Where's Johnny Benson? He's on fire in the most entertaining series!
  • You lost me buddy
  • OMG we think Kyle Busch would not make a good batman....Bunnie thinks Jimmie Johnson would make a good batman and I can see Kyle Busch as Robin.

I didn't see the free press..Bunnie did not either.
  • Well look its my favorite Jr fan. Hows it goin??

BTW Like I read the Detroit news paper when I dont live anywehre near it. DOh!@
  • Do you know who this driver is? Nascar trivia 7 !?

    May be...

  • I dont know who it is but I thought I would put my 2 cents in and say to continue with the trivia questions. I think they are fun and informative for things I dont know! So I say keep them up.
  • Jeff, I dont have the sligtest clue who it is. But keep up the good work on your questions they really have to make you investigate on everyone. You make it a challenge and it keeps me searching for hours and hours. Thanks, this forum really needs it thats for sure. Have a great weekend and good luck to your drivers. Keep em commin,
  • Jeremy Mayfield?

Edit: I like these questions, make it a daily thing, a new one around the same time everyday.

Edit 2: Ted Musgrave? He drove the Keystone Light car.
  • Is it Ricky Craven? He drove the #50 Chevy for Hendrick in 1998, the 50 commemerating NASCAR's 50th anniversary.

    -Edit-

    Wally Dallenbach, Jr.?
  • yes...it's Jimmy Spencer.

Rowdy's World will be here shortly with a huge explanation on why it is not Jimmy Spencer. ROFL

Guess I typed too soon eh???
  • Sounds a lot like Jimmy Spencer but thats not it. I don't know.
  • Wally's world Wally's world. He drove indy (city) cars, subbed for Craven when he got hurt at Talladega (?), Drove the Keystone car for Roush, drove for Richard Petty, and is a loudmouth that Nascar loves to hate. Am I right?
  • ill take Wally Dallenbach, for 10 points
  • Ok after getting my hat (see avatar) blown off by Brian Vickers' qualifying run today....thought I add one more trivia question. I'll leave up to you guys and gals....if you want more trivia let me know...if not say so and I'll move on to other questions......here we go.....

    Who am I?
I started my career in a "city" series
When I decided to go to CUP my then peers called me crazy.
I drove for a then and now well known team.
Many people thought I was from Pennsylvania But I am not.
After two rough seasons....I was hired by one of my childhood heroes.
But this hero let me go after 2/3rds of the season.
    I bounced around alot...but found solid footing in a specially #'d 50.
I ran great in that car but once again fate handed me a cruel let go.
I bounced around again...never finding success in Nascar that I had dreamed of. Guess my peers was right?
I'm still in CUP racing to a degree, in fact my attitude can be explosive
My loud opinions get me in trouble with Nascar but they can't touch me. Who am I?
  • Wally Dallenbach, for 16 races. Then Randy LaJoie.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Wally Dallenbach??

He drove for HMS I believe
He drove the #50 Bud Car I believe.
He is in Cup racing as an announcer
I'm not sure about loud opinions.
  • Yeah I think I'll go with Wally myself. Love the questions, keep them coming.
  • Does anyone out there think as i do that Richard Petty was a little overrated?

    May be...

  • I kinda agree with you. He was a great driver and is not overrated, but I think if he were racing today, he wouldn't do as good. Racing back then you had an advantage. Same with Jeff Gordon, he won 90 percent of his races in the 90s, (nothing against him) and he really hasn't done that good this century, except for his championship in 2001. Both are great drivers, but I do think the drivers in the past aren't as good as people say they are.
  • No. Richard Petty is a 7 time champion with 200 victories. And I'm not saying this to be cruel, but the fact is, the King is still alive.

"the lack of the rules we follow today made it easier to find loop holes and gain the edge" - Well, that was part of what made racing in that era great. NASCAR has ruled and regulated most of the competition and excitement out of racing.

My panties aren't in a bunch, but somebody here definitely has something up their rear that doesn't belong there. : )

  • you try driving one of the old cars before they came up with down force.....the King is still the King ......the kids now don't know what talent is
  • It depends on how you look at it, dear.
  • that must have been before your time if you dont understand
sounds like a personal problem to me
deal with it -you aint gonna change it
  • Not quite right. He wasn't the only one given Hemi's . He wasn't the only one driving Super Birds. You don't win seven championships over more years than that.
Plus, they used to run on DIRT as well as pavement. The majority of NASCAR drivers today would never be capable of that to drive a full size Olds or Pontiac, with lousy handling. Forget about the Late Model races at Stewarts' El Dora track, or Schrader's raceway in MO.
Besides, David Pearson and Buddy Baker to name two were no slouches. It's amazing why these questions keep coming up for all sports, not just auto racing. They were all different ERA'S, you can't compare them.
  • Now before anyone gets their panties in a bunch listen to what i'm saying. Back when he won most of his races he had a competitive edge. Driving for dodge he was given the highest horsepower cars there were and then they tweaked them. There was no Nascar rulebook to keep the cars as similar as they are today. He was a legend in his time but the lack of the rules we follow today made it easier to find loop holes and gain the edge. Racing in the old days was boring unless you were rooting for the winning driver. Not so many close finishes as today or even cars to finish the race
  • Hardly over rated. Given the equiptment he had and how he raced he and the guys that raced with him were "real" stock car drivers. Not a single one of the guys out there today could go the distance in one of those old real race cars. Sure they had big horsepower, they also had heavy steel less safety gear, no power steering or cool suits On infinitem with the list. Real men driving real american muscle at high speeds. Back in the day. Yes sad to say even my favorite driver could not compare to those guys like King Richard, the silver fox, coocoo marlin, don flock, ned jarrett, fireball roberts, the allisons and jr johnson, good ole cale yarborough.

I believe if you would have given them the equiptment then our stars have today, better yet, if you could somehow bring them forward in time and still have their youth but retain thier drive and talent the men of today would be trembling in the racing sneakers... LOL but if you reversed the scene most of todays drivers couldn't do 50 laps at speed in those older cars, heck some of them wouldn't even be able to reach the pedals and see over the dash at the same time....

Some of todays drivers never want to forget nor disrespect the history, ie. Dale Jr, Jell Gordon, and others. Some drivers couldn't even care less. The same could be said about the fans too....
  • does any one else find it comical the guy who asked this question is a dale jr fan and you dont know crap about talent. the cars were much heavier in richard pettys day which = much harder to turn. dont comment about stuff you dont know about.
  • No I disagree 110% You need to go look at race in the 70's and 80's and see these guys "seesawing" on the steering wheel the entire race at the same or faster speeds. In some cases much faster. Handling was almost non existent at that time. The guys today would crap their pants driving Dega or Daytona at 210 miles per hour with zero handling.

Here's "food for thought". Remember a few years back when Jr pulled out of a Pocono race because the handling was so bad without even wrecking? That car would have been a winner for Petty back in the day.
  • you make a good point there. Back then, dodge was unfair. Now, Toyota is unfair. Also, how long was richard petty in this deal?
  • I suppose so, but 200 wins, even back when the Mopars had a huge edge and won nearly everything, is impressive.
  • I have been saying it for years. Top three drivers ever imo.
    Dale Sr.
    David Pearson
Pains me to say it-Jeff Gordon
  • you just want someone to agree with you because deep down inside your insecure of your feelings and/or interpretation
  • I feel he wasnt overrated but crazier! imagine putting todays racers in yesteryear's environment. 95% of todays racers wouldnt even race in those unsafe conditions. Thinking Petty was overrated is like saying Dale Sr didnt have talent until he won a 500 at Indy or Daytona.
  • i agree, richard is the only driver i know of that had his own special building at his manufacturers engineering center. that should have been a big advantage. as for the cars being heavier, a 1968 road runner was less than 3400 lbs. off the assembly line, before it was gutted.
  • YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME???!!!!!

Why true I am a huge Petty fan.....I won't answer this question with emotion or diss you for your opinion. But I do want to defend my all time favorite driver. All Dodge drivers were given HEMI engines that NASCAR later banned because of their competitive edge BY THE SAME rulebook (to a degree) that is used today. But after the Hemi was taken away all the Dodge drivers EXCEPT Petty stopped winning. Petty had Dale Inman (the Chad Knauss of his time) and a great bunch of guys working on the #43 that made it THE car to beat week in and week out. Don't get me started on close finishes they were even closer back then......from 1959 to 1969 60% of the races where considered too close to call. Now I agree there was some snoozers Petty winning by 5-6 laps....but come on OVERRATED? I don't see it! I would love to see the kids today race the cars of yesterday. I disagree with you but will not bash you for your opinion.
  • Petty won the races period. Everyone played by the same rules as he did back then and you can't be mad at him for tweaking the cars to give them more HP, if anyone else wanted to do it they could. That's my opinion

Which NASCAR NATION member is this fan likely to be??

    May be...

  • greenbean isnt allowed to wear no shirt in public because of his man boobs

fluffy coming out of the closet? how does seeing a topless guy make you want to go to a race sicko i could understand if it was a female showing off her tats.
  • Yep, that's greenbean allright..where is he????

    on second thought....maybe not??

Oh where or where is GREENBEAN????

u had me blocked already?? i have no problem with u..but my screen says you already blocked me??? do whatever k, sorry
  • Hmmm..., maybe me, I just don't remember that day. LOL
  • LOL. I love seeing that stuff at the track. Hell that might be me. Hmm..

Nah. He has a #8 helmet on. If it is Greenbean he's a hero of mine. That's some good stuff.
  • now that is a die hard fan!! life is about havin fun!!

Sure reminds me of ole greenbeanie
  • all of a sudden I got a craving to go to a race

  • Bunnie sometimes eats green beans. We can't think of a driver he reminds us of?

    XXOO Bunnie and Mandy
  • Which driver is the worst public speaker?

    May be...

  • kasey kahne thats why i named my dog after him
    she's a good ol'girl though
  • Kasey Kahne always looks nervous in those commercials.. which is funny.

Now Jeff Burton would be a totally AWESOME public speaker!
  • Jimmy Spencer!
    Steven Wallace of current drivers.

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Famous...
  • Jr. I'm not bashing, but he really has trouble with public speaking. He looks real uncomfortable and has long pauses between his words.
  • I don't think anyone mentioned here(Kenseth, Dale Jr, Kahne) has anything on Ward Burton, he sounds like Boonhauer from King Of The Hill.
  • Kyle Busch he always has something negative to say like Duh that what happens me i would turned that camera off and be like look kyle talk crazy to any other report i don't care but not with me other wise were going to have a serious issue
  • kasey kahne
  • I would say Ward Burton. His accent just kills me. Now I really love Jamie McMurray's voice.
  • I think he gets very nervous when he talks infront of a lot of people. I thought the poor thing was going to pass out last year at the awards banquet. So yea, Kasey as far as public speaking. But for garage and post race interviews, Jr. is pretty bad...
  • Dale Jr is pretty bad.................
  • Kasey Kahne
  • Dale Jr is the worst public speaker, nothing against him. If he didn't use the word "uh," he would have nothing to say. Even though I am a die hard kenseth fan, I don't think he is a very good speaker either. He talks too fast. I guess that's why they became nascar drivers instead of commentators.
  • I have to agree with you on that with Kasey Kahne. Dale Jr is not very good at speaking to the public. He was like I was in high school and was petrified to speak in public.
  • I think Kasey Kahne gets more afriad when he speaks in front a large group of people
  • oh yes that commercial with Kasey Kahne IS terrible...but I'm gonna go with Dale Jr. In commercials he's great but he makes up for it in just about every one of his interviews.
  • I just watched the Nascar Foundation commercial so I will say Kasey Kahne.
  • aye aye aye Chuck Norris Dont LIKE THAT........You obviously didn't watch the hiiiilarious allstate commericals. Chuck Norris Likes Kasey Kahne.
  • KASEY KAHNE IS A RACER . SO WHAT IF HE IS NOT A GOOD SPEAKER !!!

    HATERS !!
IF YOUR DOG WAS A FAT *** YOU COULD NAME HER GREENBEAN
  • Jeff Gorgon.
  • JR has issues here...
  • Kasey Kahne I agree
  • Matt Kenseth = really fast monotone, not very animated. Great driver, not so good with the interview.
  • Matt Kenseth #1, followed by Dale Jr. Kenseth talks in a flat monotone and it's just one long mumble.
  • Dale Jr. is pretty bad in those interviews, I can't imagine him giving a speech in public.
  • Dale Jr.
  • 14.8.08

Does Jeff Gordon listen to U2?

    May be...

  • LOL, funny. I cannot stand U2.
  • Ok...let's see here...you must listen to U2, and you must be gay, therefore you assume that if Jeff Gordon listens to U2 he must be gay? HMMMMM....what's wrong with this picture?

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Since he's Gay?
  • The thing is, I don't think U2 is gay. Even if it could be construed that U2 is gay, Jeff Gordon wouldn't like them because they are not gay ENOUGH. We're talking Ricky Martin gay. Barbara Streisand gay. I just wish he'd quit lying to himself about it. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are the Ambiguously Gay Duo of NASCAR. Maybe Pepsi or DuPont should buy Gordon a rainbow cape that he could wear on race day.

Does no one else see that this guy is such a flamer?
  • do you?
  • i can't blame the guy
  • I dont know if he does or not but I do and I have 12 kids and Im not gay. Im happy as Kevin Harvick.
  • Nope. I guess he just listens to U
  • *singing off key*

"In the name of loooove, one more in the name of love"

WAIT!! I like U2, and I'm as straight as an arrow!
  • I would not know. I am no expert. Apparently you and alrighty are.
Perhaps you two should hook up. I am no Gordon fan,but he does have the best looking wife in NASCAR. His last one was hot also.
  • I'll bet you got all their CD's don't you. Come on U can tell us!!
  • Do you need a state driver's license to be a Nascar Driver?

    May be...

  • No you don't have too one as long as you have a nascar license than you can race in nascar
  • Of course you do, you're in a car aren't you?
  • Yes you have to be 18 and have a valid driver's license.
  • No, but you do have to meet their standards for racing on the super speedways.
edit: I believe there have been drivers with suspended licenses that were still able to race. A valid drivers license is only needed to operate a motor vehicle on a public road, not at a private facility or on private property.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Since its a sport and all.
  • I dont think you NEED one...drivers license is a license to legally drive a car....NOT RACE...IMO

Jeff Gordon doesn't have one??..yea too bad that didn't stop him from winning 4 TITLES!!!
  • of some sort
  • How many wins do you think Kyle Busch would have if he were at JGR the whole time?

    May be...

  • That's a good question, people forget how dominant JGR was last year. They (JGR cars) were always running up front and leading laps but it seemed like Tony and Denny had a lot of mechanical problems/cut tires, mistakes on pit road or got caught in wrecks that prevented them from getting more wins. The same has been the case with those 2 this year. I think Kyle would have 4 or 5 more wins if he had been at JGR the whole time. All the drivers there have similar driving styles and they all like extremely loose cars. That transfer of information would have benefited him plus it seems like his personality fits better there. One thing to remember, Kyle has matured a lot in the last year, he would have still been prone to mistakes attributed to being a younger, more aggressive driver no matter where he was at. It's hard to say but I think he'd have around 16 or 17 wins right now had he been there from the get go.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • That sounds pretty close.
  • It seems like you are applying that JGR is better than HMS. That is not true. Other than Kyle, JGR has one win. Kyle is just maturing and getting better over time. If he had started with JGR, he would probably be about where he is now. If JGR was the best, you would have Hamlin and Tony winning races also. Same with toyota in general. Kyle is a great driver and is just now starting to win races.

Also everyone usually has breakout years. Next year Kyle might not win any races. Dale Jr won 6 races in a season, Kenseth won 5 back in 2002, Jeff Gordon won 13, Johnson had several. Just because Kyle is winning a lot of races this year doesn't mean he will win a lot of races next year too. Kyle is just having a good year.
  • I think his success this year is part equipment and part maturity. He is certainly maturing more and more every week so I really do not put a whole lot of his improvement into the equipment factor. I still think he had pretty good equipment last year but if you combine the slight upgrade in machinery along with maturity and his desire to show Hendrick that he made a mistake then I think it all comes together for him!!

Back to your question, I will go 15

I really think his release was great for Kyle and Dale Jr. It worked out well for everyone involved except DEI.............Ha Ha Ha!!!
  • he would have 69!
  • I'm guessing around 20.
  • a lot!
  • I think you are right about 18-20
  • 3 the number 34 chevy driven by billie bob johnson would have more.
  • I think you're right. He was third in line at HMS, so the best went to jeff and jimmie. He still made the chase two years at HMS, and even had a fair shot at it until Jr took him out at the 5th or 6th race, can't remember exactly. Please note that Rowdy fans don't bring that up ad nauseum.
JGR put him on equal footing with Denny and Tony and they matched him up with the right people. I've said many times in this forum that even with a new team, new manufacturer, and new crew chief, Rowdy's talent just can't be denied. JGR is the best thing that ever happened to Kyle.

tregoste.......good point he has and continues to mature. It was said of him before that once he learns how to win, there will be no stopping him. He's proving that to be true.
  • I never thought that even before I was a "Kyle" fan that Rick Hendrick put the same amount of time, energy and MONEY into the #5 car. I think it held back those who raced in it. That being said Kyle still did well enough with Hendrick to cause me to believe that had he been given better equipment he could certainly have done better. Now with JGR he is proving it. So my answer is yes I believe he would have many more wins, but how many more...I think 15 or 20.
  • 8
  • hard to say when they were all driving chey's before this year
  • I do not know. I think one of the main reasons why he is doing so well this year is Hendrick really ticked him off last year and this is his way (it was at first) of saying look what you let go.

I think that if he had driven for Gibbs last year he would have had some wins, but Gibbs was in a different brand of car last year too.
  • being at joe gibbs has nothing to do with it, kyle is just on a hot streak. i would say about 13
  • Oh about 900...!!! He's just that good isn't he?

    You guessed it...!!!
  • i just don't see why you think that. HMS is as every bit as good as JGR if not better. If kyle couldn't perform this well there, then it's obviously not the driver. It's the manufacturer and it's extra horsepower.
  • Are you excited? (This 20 character thing is annoying)?

    May be...

  • ONE WORD.

    Niiiiice.
  • Yes but they need to put it back on Labor Day.
  • all i have to say is COOL
  • I am always excited when it comes to Nascar. But now I am more excited.
  • I don't like Darlington but I'm happy the southern 500 is back. I wish they called it the Mountain Dew Southern 500 but, I'm not Mike Helton.
  • Yes, I am. I wish it could go back to being run at Labor Day, but it being called the Southern 500 again is a step in the right direction.
  • NOPE...not excited one bit....whats wrong with a Californian??...still waving that confederate flag i see
  • The Southern 500 is back net year! I find it funny a Californian won the inaugural one.
  • Yes, I guess I could say I'm half excited now if they get this race back on Labor Day when it belong then I will be very excited. Its just a Nascar tradition.

    Go Dale & Hms
  • What's a californian? And the Southern 500 is prejudice.. Wheres the Northern 499?
  • Woo-hoo! Now if it was only on Labor Day...
  • Yes, Nascar is finally seeing the error of it's ways! Next they will do away with the top 35 rule and the Lucky Dog!! It doesn't hurt to Hope!
    PEACE!
  • Are people really excited about a name of a race? It can't be that cool. All it means is the race has lost major sponsors. That's not good. Sounds like a way to cover up something. Kinda fishy if you ask me.
  • Heck yeah I am. It's about time! =o`)
  • The SOUTHERN 500 IS BACK AT DARLINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

    May be...

  • I wish it were on Labor Day, but it will be nice to have the Southern 500 again. I saw my first 2 races at Darlington and it is still the most challenging track in NASCAR in my opinion. There is not another track like it and I still remember that 21 Mercury and David Pearson. I just wish they'd run twice there and come back to Rockingham too. That area helped make NASCAR great and NASCAR took 3 of their 4 races away. If NASCAR ever drops this track, I will boycott them for a long time.
  • That's cool!!

You confuse me when you post legitimate questions.
  • Better late than never. Too bad NASCAR didn't take away the 2nd Cali race too.
  • yeah, there have been one or three questions already about this today. it's back, but not on labor day. that race looks like it will end up in atlanta next year...

    here's the earlier questions:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

and here's mine about the schedule for next year:

  • What track is taking it's place????
  • ALL Jr / Nascar Nation Fans?

    May be...

  • Congrats!!!! I'm picking #18, hey why bet against him???
  • Congrats man ! working on our second one too, hehehehe

I'd like to say Harvick, but that ain't gonna happen.

forgive me but i have to ask, jeff gordon hasn't been by your place lately has he? i have heard rumors that drivers have been hanging out around here asking and answering questions and that gordon has a love child somewhere, so i thought i should ask... i heard it may be worth some serious $$$. i think i saw it somewhere on jayski.com...
    ;-)

but back to all seriositude, rowdy's going to win of course. i believe!!!

My pick is Junior, I say he's gonna do a repeat! =o`)
  • Congrats to you and your gal.....I'm going with Matt Kenseth this weekend its time. The Roush-fenway guys do pretty good here. But its perfectly awesome if Dale Jr wins there again, I just hope Tony Jr has his head screwed on right this weekend, I can't have another meltdown weekend again..

  • Duuuuude !!!! Congratulations !!!

    Jeff Burton.
  • Congrats, man! Hopefully your child will be healthy and everything goes okay. We shall train your child to be "anti-troll defender" lol

Whose gonna win? Hmm... how about a fella by the name of Jeff Gordon? He's been long overdue for a win and I really think he still has that fire to win. Really. Even though he's sixth in points he's been pretty bummed about this year.

Oh and thanks a ton for the picture you gave me. See, I'm using it! You must put a picture of your child once he or she is born... as your avatar.
  • WHO ohh !!!!!
  • CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!! Hopefully Jeff can get his car together and finally win one !
  • That's great! Congrats!

I think carl edwards will get his 5th win of the season this weekend.
  • Anybody but Stewart! or a Busch!
  • Congrats buddy!! I'm happy for ya, I know how much you enjoy being a daddy!!

    Tony Stewart..
  • 13.8.08

Do you feel that they are right when they say this sport is under emphasized in this year's Olympics?

    May be...

  • First Answer! Yes.
  • Can someone please explain this to me?

    May be...

  • its only for tems buy a team you can get a book thats all there is to it they cost to make asnd they only make enough for the teams lol ya rite like wooley bulley said if they gave everybody books then we would all no when they changed a rule and they couldnt make em upm as they go or see fit to change when they saw fit most of the book is technical stuff on building of a car tubing used for cage ,saftey stuff and ride hights and things of that nature
  • what Wooley Booley said
  • Does anyone know exactly why Nascar is so strict with their rules book? Why is it that only teams, drivers, and officials are allowed them? What would it hurt if the general pubic had access to it? Do other sports associations such as the NFL or NBA have this same policy with their rule books (I donвЂt watch many other sports so don’t bash me here). I mean its just rules, why do they have to keep it under lock and key?

I don’t really want one or anything, I’m just interested as to why they are so strict about who is able to obtain one of them.
  • Good question! I can't tell you why they won't allow the public to see the rule book I wish I knew for sure but I know someone asked a question before and we were all trying to find the answer to it but couldn't cause we couldn't read the Nascar rules!
  • The rules on Pit Road are forged in Steel however.
    -No speeding.
-All 4 tires in the box.
-All 5 lug nuts per wheel.
-Don't run over the air hose.
-Don't leave the catch can dangling from the car.
    -Etc. Etc.
  • That's the million dollar question. I agree with what Wooley said. Its theirs and if they dont want the public to have them then that's their right I guess. I think its written in pencil anyways.

    Look at question 4
    http://www.jayski.com/pages/faqrace.htm#...
  • it's is based on Mike Helton's day and rules change when necessary for his own particular reason and approved by the France organization i would imagine, as for us Fans ever seeing it..NEVER gonna happen!

and Wooley hit the nail on the head..correct answer!!
  • We've all speculated why they won't release it to the public. Understand, NASCAR is a privately owned corporation, owned by the France family. They can change the rules daily. If you are a racer, you have to abide by them. Very dictatorial.
  • I'm looking for the lyric's to a song about a baby who is named after all the Nascar drivers. ?

    May be...

  • ROFL

She named me Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

I guess you could say Momma was a NASCAR fan,
I was born in Talladega up in the stands.
The fans all cheered the second I arrived,
the loudspeaker said "The boy's born to drive!"
We didn't have money for a pacifier,
so I sucked on the valve off a Goodyear tire...
a seven pound, eight ounce, son-of-the-south
born with a taste for racin' in my mouth.

She named me Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

I got my first real stock-car when I was nine,
an old one Momma bought off of Jeff Bodine.
The Winston Cup people said "The boy's too young"...
'till I qualified second at Darlington.
How in the world could a nine-year-old child
hit 197 in a time trial?
The man said Momma ought to be ashamed...
"but by the way son, tell us what's your name"?

I told 'em Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

    I got a "Toys-R-Us" sponsor and a new pit-crew.
    Daytona loves "Little 52"
The junior-high-school girls are all cheerin' for me.
I'm out there intimidatin' "Number 3"
But I ain't got room on my cards, or my caps, or the helmet I'm drivin' with...

to write Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

  • Tim Wilson........if remember right its called nascar son or something like that
  • Its a country song, where the baby is named after all the famous nascar drivers,
not sure what its called, the only words I can remember right now the baby's last name is Smith, Johnson, Junior.
I know its not a lot to go on, but can anyone help me out?
  • DALE DARRELL WALTRIP RICHARD PETTY RUSTY AWESOME BILL DALE IRVAN GORDON EARNHARDT SMITH JOHNSON JUNIoR- Tim Wilson.
  • Maggie said it all! no more needs to be said!
*you beat me to it Maggie* LOL
  • Tim Wilson!

Maggie said it all except where her dots are it should say...Junior-Johnson-Junior!

Sick and tired of Kyle Busch?

    May be...

  • Not me. If a driver constantly wins, he is winning for a reason. That is no reason to hate on him. I will always stick with my driver no matter if he is winning or not
  • Last year we were sick and tired of Hendricks. Next year we'll be sick and tired of some other driver/team. If you don't like what's happening, don't watch. 2009 is just around the corner.
  • dont get mad, im not fond of kyle busch either but its just a hot streak, of course its also that he has talent but its also luck, even when he doesnt have the best car he wins races because hes in the lead and caution comes out or he just seems to have the best car at the very end of the race or other things (jimmie johnson was the same way last year), but everyones reign on top ends sooner or later, whether it will be this year or next year i dont know
  • I'm just getting used to it. It's starting to be fun. I hope he breaks a whole bunch of records. It doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm happy for the guy.
  • No. He's on a hot streak right now, good equipment good team operations. No different when Jeff Gordon was winning everything. It all evens out. Let's see how Shrub handles problems.
  • i am so sick and tired of it i can't even manage to lift the remote control to change the channel once one of the races he's in begins. of course, i can manage to change it if the race happens to be on another channel, so i guess i'm not that sick and tired of it.
    ;-)

here's hoping i'm REALLY "sick and tired of him winning every race" by the end of this year, not to mention by the end of his career...
    ;-)
  • Not me..
  • As much as I dislike him he does make the races more interesting usually.
  • Ok jokes over, time to take out the sneaky pete nitrous bottle from under the seat.LMAO
  • if your sick and tired of kyle busch
then you need to change your name
    AND I'M A JR FAN
  • who is SICK and TIRED of him winning every race? every race he partcipates in he wins whether its the truck, nationwide or cup.
  • Not me, the guy is good, on a roll and from my home state but my driver of choice is Dale, Jr. Busch does give the other drivers a run for their money which is what all the competitors and their teams try to do, and doesn't it mean something when your favorite can beat someone of his caliber to Victory Lane?
  • Not really, it's kinda like when Jeff was winning all of the time and people were sick of him so I guess I won't be a hater !
  • I don't hate other people winning races. He is the best driver right now so he deserves the win. I am not a kyle busch fan, but I congratulate him for winning. Yes I like seeing other people win for a change, and his atitude isn't the best right now, but there is no reason to put down a great driver with tons of talent. Every year you have a driver that out weighs the other. The last two years you have had Johnson winning all the time, now it is Kyle Busch. Who knows who it will be next year.
  • It just seems to be his "time". Can't argue with the stats. No different than when Gordon was winning all the time, or Johnson winning all the time. It's his turn. One of these days I hope to be seeing people sick and tired of seeing Jr. win every race!!!! Gotta give credit where credit is due. Like it or not, the kid is good!

    go Jr.>>>>
  • Nope. I was a fan through the Dale Earnhrdt Sr. booos that turned to yaaaays I was a fan through the Jeff Gordon boos that turned to yaaaaaays and I was a fan through the Jimmie Johnson boos that turned to yaaaaaays.

I will be a fan of the Kyle Busch boos that turn to yaaaaays.

    And they are already.
  • If you were really the worlds biggest NASCAR fan shouldn't you like all the drivers? I think there are bigger fans out there
  • I Definetly agree. I'm sick of Kyle I never was a fan of him. At brickyard when they introduced Kyle everybody boo'd to his name haha. I'm a kasey kahne and carl Edwards fan! But Kyle bush can't help himself from winning race lol but I think he is kinda a weird dude.
  • Kyle doesn't win every race, but he makes every race exciting, and I've noticed that some of those boos are turning into cheers. Kudos to all of you who acknowledge, even if grudgingly, that he is a talented driver with years of winning ahead of him.
  • the guys hot he's winnen more power to him
  • What do you want him to do? Just pull over and let other people win out of courtesy?

That wouldn't be a race car driver would it...
  • The guy is hot right now. Can't really fault him for being good, at least I can't.
  • Interesting question--I guess you wouldn't be sick & tired of him winning if your his fan. Guess what? Not a fan! GO HMS!
  • i cant help him winning races but i am sick of the tv only focusing on him during the race mainly. i think they should focus more on everyone especially those hot for the chase.
  • I'm with gloria on this one she said it all! The kid is hot right now and you can't take that away from him!! Love him or hate him you've got to give credit where credit is due!!
  • I'm sick and tired of all these questions.

And no he DOESN'T win every race he participates in.
  • He's just got the winning streak this year. You do have to admit he's driving badass though!!! But no I wouldn't mind seeing someone else win!!!
  • Being a NASCAR fan as long as I have you see "cycles" and "changing of the guard" so to speak. In the 70's it was Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough that everyone was sick of winning. In the 80's everyone was sick of Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott winning every race. In the 90's EVERYONE was sick of Jeff Gordon winning everything. It's Kyle's turn. They will come a day when we'll be sick of someone else winning "every" race. This sport is about sportsmanship when your driver isn't winning...you still pull for him no matter what until he wins again and congratulate those who did win. Now I know most you will disagree with this statement. But this how it's been done for years....it's only a sport don't take it so personal. Don't bash their driver because the "next best thing" may become your driver and you wouldn't want your driver bashed....now would you? Just an opinion.
  • Who would you choose out of these 2 for your crew chief

    May be...

  • Knaus, no doubt
  • knaus
  • Chad Knaus

  • Ray Evernham no doubt. He was one of the best crew chiefs back in the 90's and early 2000s with Gordon. I still think Gordon would be better with Ray even now! Evernham is one of the greatest NASCAR crew chiefs, and I would select him in a heartbeat. Besides, he has proved he is good in the ownership roll too.
  • Chad Knaus for sure
    =]
  • Chad Knaus. It's close though.
  • Wow, that is a tough one but I would go with Chad Knaus. Ray came up with a lot of tricks before NASCAR cracked down on the crew chiefs and scrutinized the cars the way they do now. Chad continues to find little areas to tweak in an era where working outside the box is not only frowned on but heavily penalized. A lot of people have labeled Chad a cheater but he is an innovator and leader. I really like his laid back style, it seems to have a calming effect on Jimmie and they have the trust in each other's abilities to make for one of the greatest driver/crew chief combinations in the history of NASCAR.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • ray
  • Ray Evernham
  • Since they now have the COT, Chad would be my pick.
  • Ray Everham
  • Ray Evernham by far
  • Chad Knaus
  • I would take Chad Knaus, I think he can work with the COT a lot better. Ray Evernham, although he is a owner now, isn't impressing me too much with his COT work.
  • Dale Inman
  • I would have to go with Chad he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to making the right calls.
  • Evernham.
  • flip a coin, and hope I end up in a Dodge
  • Chad Knaus
  • Everham totally.
  • Chad Knaus
    Ray Evernham
  • Great question! It would be Chad Knaus.
    Have a star! =o`)
  • Chad Knaus.
  • Chad Knaus.
  • Evernham
  • Knaus

    #4 #10 #12 #21 #23 #33 #38 #41 #44 #45 #84 FOR 2009
  • I'll go with Jayski's predictions:

  • 4 probably won't be active next year since Morgan-McClure has financial problems.
    #10- not sure
#12- Sam Hornish is moved there IMO.

    #41- not sure
    #44- not sure
    #45- probably Kyle & McCumbee
    #84- probably still Allmendinger
  • I think so.

    10 will still be Carpentier
12 I have no clue who will go there.
    21 Ambrose
    23 BDR driver TBA
    33 Mears
38 Gilliland (stays at Yates Racing)
41 Sorenson (renew for another year)
    44 Reutimann (stays at MWR)
    45 McCumbee/Petty a few races
84 Allmendinger (gets to stay one more year b4 Scott Speed will take over in 2010, with the Dinger in a third car for RBR.

Those are just my opinions...not all of this is true yet.

Do the in-car cameras have their own built in microphones?

    May be...

  • How was Jeff Gordon communicating with NASCAR during Watkins Glenn and not with his crew on pit road? Also you could hear Jeff Gordon speaking over air even though he could communicate with his pit crew. Is there more than one radio?
  • The in-car cameras do not have microphones. The TV crew puts one in for their in-car reporter who was Juan Pablo this week.

I have a 2 year old so I may have missed it, but I thought Jeff was speaking but his crew didn't hear him. He didn't "speak" with NASCAR, but saw the black flag they put out for him. That was his signal to come in.
  • Great question! Yes they do have microphones, but only so we the fans can hear engines, tire squealing, crashes, etc it is not a 2 way device. Remember during in-cars you can hear the car very well and if car crashes you can really hear the "bump" or "bang". But it can't be used as a communication device. If I remember correctly, the team asked NASCAR to black flag the #24 since they could not communicate. When problem was fixed Jeff came on and apologized to the crew because the radio accidently had become unplugged. The way ESPN does their replays can be confusing...I have noticed that what you are seeing is not always in sync with what you are hearing that may be what you are referring to about hearing Jeff????
    Hope that helps.
  • he want
they black flagged him to come in
and also had his no. flashing on the score tower
then he figured it out that his wire was unplugged from his helmet to the radio
  • no

  • I'm so glad that the teams will do this! A cure needs to be found for breast cancer so the more awareness вЂ" the better.
  • It takes alot to offend me, this doesn't.

My husband's aunt had breast cancer a few years back, thankfully she's in remission now.
    I think it's great that they're doing this, it's a great cause.
  • no offense taken, at least not on the pinkness of the paint scheme. i too love to see teams who manage to work pink into their paint schemes for breast cancer awareness month, especially considering that my mother is a survivor. i think it's cool of the teams to put their "machismo" aside to raise awareness for such an important cause.

this will look so sweet in victory lane: http://www.buddystoys.com/products/MM%27...
  • I would run a pink car for that cause too.
  • no offense to kyle fans but i love seein drivers inthese girl cars like dennys car back at like richmond or somthin its kinda funny tho

  • What was on top of the yellow water barrels that flew up into the air when the McDowell Gilliland wreck ...

    May be...

  • the lids
  • Garbage can lids.
  • ... happened and it flew up into the air and hit a pit road light fixture and almost hit the bystanders?
  • lids on the barrel crash cushions full of sand (not water).
  • They were lids.
  • there very large lids just like on a plastic garbage can they showed 1 stuck in the splitter of the 77
  • The barrels lids.
  • the lids
  • From what I saw, it was just the lids of the water barrels that went flying up over the inside pit wall. It definitely had the pit light pole shaking like crazy, though.

If you watch the replay, watch the official standing farther away from pit road, right when the accident begins. He hits the ground like he was being shot at... Scary wreck, but it was kinda funny watching him hit the ground like he did...

    Thanks for the congrats!

So you guys get the kinder, gentler Winter Glory, it's all out of my system by the time I get home.
  • Man I had all but given up on him after that HUGE 2 race losing streak LOL...

Once again when people doubt him he goes out and wins. Maybe people will quit doubting? Hopefully not
  • One race closer to his first championship Yee Haaaaaaaa!
  • Congrats to Kyle and all his fans. Sorry my guy wasn't around to chase him down or at least race with him.

  • how about we just call him "winner" as that's what he was today, again.

and great job by all of jgr - congrats to tony and zippy and for marcos, "good on ya' mate." and here's hoping bobby labonte is ok. that was one mean crash.
  • uhhh, is this a question?

cause i'm pretty sure that what you are suppose to leave here.....
  • THANKS!!!
  • Congrats. to Kyle Busch and his fans!

    (that hurt a little bit)
  • we use the word talent a lot on here and...i just want to use a different word. How bout instead of calling him talented we call him a wheel man? I personally call him sick bastard, or, as many of you know, Mr. 18. That's right. you know who i am.
  • Bobby Labonte has to go to hospital for checkout?!

    May be...

  • I hope he's going to be okay. May The Lord be with you, Mr. Labonte.
  • Huge #43 fan so definitely hoping for the best for him....very hard hit. It did appear he was in a lot of pain as he walked away.
  • yeah when the infield care center thinks a driver should go to the hospital it is usually just precautionary measures. It was something maybe more than bumps and bruises but Bobby will be fine I am sure.
  • He has Graves' Disease which is a thyroid disorder that can cause muscle weakness and degeneration, among other symptoms. Since he obviously hurt something they probably just wanted to double-check him.
  • He looked like he was in a lot of pain, I'm not surprised. Hopefully everything turns out okay.
  • He looked like he was trying to hold his stomach but the safety belt may have pulled on his groin area the way he was limping and bent over.
  • Yeah. Hopefully hes ok!
  • Do you think Glock could be the 2010 champion?

    May be...

  • Not happening. I think rosbif and Derek Smith got it exactly right in the old question.
  • He drove very well but unless Ferrari panic buy a driver like Glock he will struggle to win a race, let alone become a champion.
He is good, not great, deserves another year at Toyota, still 2 good races out of 11, hardly spectacular ( not including Germany which was going well till the car failed).
  • I haven't changed my mind, and Glock going to Ferrari would only be a little bit more likely than his becoming champion.

He got lucky in Hungary: he made up 3 places from his qualifying position because 3 drivers who qualified ahead of him had big problems, and he only hung on to 2nd place because Raikkonen had trouble late on. No shame in that, but it's not really grounds for Ferrari to look at him either.
  • Giancarlo Fisichella has gone even further than Glock and actually won a race and now look at him. He's sat in a Force India making up the numbers.
I maintain what I said in my previous answer. I think he can be a solid mid field performer but I don't see him becoming champion.

We had that old question and everyone sed no, but after his drive last weekend, who's to say he's not kimi Raikkonen's replacement after the 2009 season? If he is GO GLOCK! anyone wanna comment on that?
  • definatley the glock is a great brand for guns
  • This was his only performance this year worth talking about.
So that's exactly as many as Sutil.
I wouldn't mind seeing it happen but it doesn't look likely to put it that way.
  • would u say nelsinho piquet will be the world champion in 2010????....just due to his 2nd place at hockenheim???!!!.....not really.....nor would hence Glock be said tht he could win an world championship in 2010..........he just turned luck .......thts it he didnt fight for it really.....a driver deserves his position....only if he has literally fought for it and during the race overtook couple of cars.....and a driver on podium deserves it if he was actually pushing and/or closing in on the race leader or 2nd place man(depending on his position)...but tht wasnt the case with glock.....(and also nt with kimi)....he just got it due to Lewis's puncture and Felipe's engine blow-up.....also he didnt do some impressive driving to keep kimi at bay....rather kimi himself backed off(as he knew abt felipe's engine failiur..and another ferrari engine of adrian sutil too had blown up...nw ferrari didnt wanted to take a chance)....and he has hardly impressed at least me so tht i could say he may contend for championship in 2010...............

and i dont find him going into ferrari either(no chance).....Ferrari most probably go in for Sebastine vettel(am sure it would be vettel)....Alonso is another most probable....but thats if he doesnt find a good tem in Honda(seehttp://formularacin.blogspot.com/2008/08... )....and i dont find Glock really on Ferrari's radar..............he would be i think with Toyota for long time .....like trulli......
  • He's certainly improved over the year... but he's not a patch on his own veteran teammate yet, though his Hungary result was on merit...

I don't see him being Champion no... but he could be a race win contender if Toyota continue their good progress... but I think we should see more of him throughout the year... because we haven't seen much of him in different situations... to see where his strengths are.. he's been a solid midfield runner, who's taken advantage of a good set-up and some good form to get a great result last week...

  • Glock and Toyota were very lucky in Hungary. He has been generally beaten by Trulli everywhere, which is not a good thing for him.
  • Glock wouldn't get the Ferrari drive unless it was as back-up to an out-and-out number one driver. Leaving aside the fact that there simply isn't anyone THAT dominant in F1 right now, to become champion he would need said dominant driver to do what Schumacher did in 1999 and rule himself out for most of the season to even have a shot at the title a la Eddie Irvine...and even then he probably wouldn't manage it.
  • I would say it's unlikely. Assuming Raikkonen does retire after 2009 there are so many other drivers that could get the Ferrari seat (Alonso Vettel etc.), and of course with these new rule changes in 2009 there's nothing to say Ferrari will even have the fastest car.

He does seem to be improving all the time though.
  • Dale Jr finishes 30th in last weeks winning car???

    May be...

  • Why don't you do some research before asking a question next time? He had a piece of his car that's crucial to racing break and that's why he finished so poorly. Next time, unmute your tv so you can hear what the announcers tell you. They do more than just bull$h*t up there...I promise.
  • no he had a suspension part break on the front end of the car
  • Dude, you had your ears covered a suspension part broke..duh, crap happens. I'm sure he picked up some fuel mileage pointers and a better feel of the track for the race tomorrow, thats really why these cup guys were driving the Nationwide race today... Congrats to Marcos for a great win.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Don't be an idiot! A suspension piece broke fool! He was running 10th when that part broke. You just can't stand it can you!!!!!

In 1985 Awesome Bill lost a championship because of a .75 cent transmission part.

So fool! A part breaking is no evidence of poor driving. I think you must really be a Dale Jr fan as well. Just can't man up to admit it.....
  • ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    We have a winner!

Dumbest troll on the forum - Dan607!
  • 1st is 1st, 30th is 30th. doesn't matter how you get there, but thats what the results show at the end of the day. fellows was 29 spots better than dale jr in the same car last week. and if jr was so good he would have been leading before the suspension messed up because the car certainly was good enough as kfellows.
  • Come on now, I'm no Jr. fan, but seriously? Name a driver that's never had a bad finish in a good car.

I've been on the recieving end of this too many times.
Just last week at Pocono, I came on and there were a few posts asking if anyone was happy about Kyle running out of gas. I guess I'm a believer in do unto others.

Now when those questions about Kyle arise, and you post a similar one about Jr. I do have to admit, I rather enjoy it.
    *I shouldn't, but I do*
  • I hope he has two or three more finishes like that before the years out LOL!
  • He broke a suspension part stupid. He kept his nose clean. And last week finished under a rain delay. Fellows would have had to pit again if they continued and he would have finished around 30. So how about using your head and not compare apples to oranges. You are obviously a hater, but you really look like an idiot when you just let blind hatred take over.
  • WOW! YOU DAZZLE ME!

He first of all isn't a road course guy. 2nd of all, he was running 8th when something mechanical came off the car. Last time I checked the mechanical tear-offs weren't the drivers fault.

I hope I cleared it up for you.
  • Is this just more evidence that he can't drive as well as his fans think??
  • why so much hatred for JR and his fans..do not understand..yes he is a good driver not great like his father Dale Sr, so get over it already!
Is he the only driver that has had part failures, NOT so get the facts straight before trolling for answers you do not want to see, just my opinion but i know others feel the same..I am a Fan of his and 12 others so I am not biased! Just a FAN of Nascar

and BTW..still 2nd in points..you call that shabby, where is your driver or drivers in points???
  • Some Jr. fans say that he doesn't go down to the Nationwide often because he doesn't feel a need to compete against weaker competition, but from what I've watched so far he was only running top 15 before the problems...so it's not exactly like he's dominated the series everytime he goes down, and he has no wins this season in all the races he's done in it. Maybe the competition isn't that weak. Kyle Busch is just that good. Road courses ain't easy. I haven't seen the race yet because I was in Nashville, but I'm going to watch it now. Maybe Kyle will win tomorrow. 1st, 1st, 2nd on road courses so far this season. He is an underrated road course driver.
  • Yeah, and Carl Edwards overdrove a corner and took out himself and Clint Bowyer. I guess Carl can't drive as well as his fans think either.
  • heck, that happens all the time. my boy rowdy has won SEVEN times in the same car in cup this year with the same team, and NOT WON the other FOURTEEN times. he's even had finishes of 43rd, 38th, 36th, 25th, and 17th. big deal. crap happens.

as for junior, he has said time and again he doesn't like nor do well on road courses, and i have no reason to not take his word for it - although he seemed to do much better than even he expected at infineon. he was out there today to get practice for tomorrow and he got a fair amount of it before something broke. they said something in the rear suspension at first - who knows what it actually ended up being. it broke.

whatever the case, comparing a team's performance from one week to the next - especially when things like "a history making run in the rain" are on one of those weekends - is silly, whether they have the same driver or not from week to week.

now, whether or not he can or can't drive as well as his fans think, i can't speak to that because i don't know how well all of his fans think he can drive. i'm a fan - not a card-carrying member of junior nation, but a fan - and i expect him to drive well. i expect top-10s from him, with the occasional win and some top-5s thrown in. but i don't expect that EVERY week. sooner or later something will break or he'll get caught up in his own or someone else's mess and there goes that thought...
  • A SUSPENSION PART BROKE... Stuff happens..... ok?
He just wanted to get a feel for the track first, so he can be ready for the race on Sunday. (Tomorrow). Alot of the drivers that ran today were driving because of that reason.

    Go Jr.!
  • Ofcourse he cannot drive like his 'fans' (fence runners) think he can.

You have to remember - the majority of Dale Jr fans did not even watch NASCAR befor Dale Sr.'s death. They came to NASCAR to see what the "#3" hype was and the grabbed ahold of Dale Jr as it was the only name they knew. And it was the "in thing' to do.

For fans that have followed NASCAR more than the last 7 years do recognize Dale Jr as a talentless driver that shamefully lives off of his Daddy's name ... Very disrespectful ! And sad that people cheer him for that ... Shamefully on their part !
  • What is the difference between Formula 1 and IndyCar?

    May be...

  • Formula 1 is a world series, the fastest drivers in the fastest cars.
NASCAR and Indycar are American racing series.
F1 cars don't race on oval so they don't reach the sort of speeds Indycars do, but on a road course they're much faster.
They do however reach speeds as high as 223mph on the straights of Monza which is pretty impressive.
Montoya's pole position in an F1 McLaren in Montreal was 6 seconds quicker and the fastest lap in the race was some 8 seconds quicker than Indycar.
Indycar races are a mix of road courses and ovals while NASCAR races almost entirely on ovals.
Formula 1 and Indycar are formulas,NASCAR are basically heavily modified cars, they're heavy and rely on good aerodynamics (full bodywork) and long straights to reach high speeds on ovals but are slow round corners and on the brakes so in reality on a road course they're slower than even most Touring cars.
Top Fuel dragsters are the fastest for acceleration and top speed, they reach 320mph in 4,5 seconds which is insane.
F1 cars are known for their high downforce which allows for high cornering and braking g forces, in excess of 4g.
They're also the most difficult racing cars to drive on a road course because their dependency on aerodynamics makes them extremely unforgiving.
Tom Cruise raced in NASCAR in "Days of Thunder".
Personally I like that movie very much,I like the plot and the characters much more than the silly action.
Hollywood wanted to make a movie out of F1 but when the powers of F1 read the script thir hair turned grey and they turned it down.
The producers then turned to poor Indycar as an alternative and the monstrosity that was created is known as "Driven".
  • indy car racing or Indy Racing Leauge(IRL and F-1 are whole lot diffrent(except they look quite similar but only for somebody who's never watched an f-1 or indy race!!! )....f-1 cars are much quicker on corners compared to indy cars....though the straight line speed of an indy car is more than an F-1 car.....as indy cars are aerodynamically designed to run on straigts or ovals(almost straight!!!)...but f-1 cars are aerodynamically and mechanically designed to run both on straights, hairpins, left right chicanes....and other diffrent curves of shape and sizes;-)....and the fastest sport is drag racing especially the one which takes place at the salt pans in the daytona beach in i think somewhre in california......but there they dont compete against each other rather most ppl come there to create or break land speed record......

so the fastest racing sport in straight line category(tht's on land) would be drag racing
and on circuit it must be indy(ovals are circuits too!!)
but in over all thts straight line + cornering speed goes to F-1....!!!!......hence its the pinnacle and the most famous motosport ever....

and NASCAR is similar to indycar as it too goes round and round on that oval circuit.....NASCAR stands for 'National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing' ....its called stock car cause in the olden times the vine sellers used to modify their cars to optimize ae their vine delivery service quicker...when their business dried up for various reasons they started racing their cars and as the cars were generally stock cars modified, the racing came to be know as stock car auto racing....but thts changed now a days and now we dont have modified stocj cars rather we have specially bult cars for racing in NASCAR...and stock car has just become namesake.....

hope u got ur answer!!! ;-)
  • I know its not the technical answer you would like but precious little displays the difference between the two than SAFETY. Look up the fatal crash suffered by my favourite racer Greg Moore in 1999 on You Tube and ask yourself if this would ever have happened in F1.
Needless, reckless and unsafe, although part of the excitement -it counts for nothing when talented young drivers die for pure stupidity and lax regulations.
    Greg, RIP matey.
  • Formula One cars currently have 2.4 liter V-8 engines that run on gasoline and are restricted to something in the neighborhood of 19,000 rpm. Indy cars have 3.5 liter V-8's that run on ethanol and are restricted to I think 10,000 rpm. They both develop roughly similar horsepower though it is a safe assumption that the rev-happy F-1 cars are probably much more difficult to drive.
  • I always thought that F1 was the fastest motor racing sport ever but I've heard about IndyCar. What is it and is it faster, what are the differences between IndyCar and F1.

Also, as a side question, is IndyCar racing what Tom Cruise does in that film Days of Thunder?

What is the fastest racing sport ever, is there something even faster than F1 and IndyCar? If so, please tell me.

I will give maximum marks for a fully explained detailed perfect answer. :-)
  • It depends what you class as the 'fastest'. If you are simply referring to top speed, then Indycar is the fastest. Indycars can reach speed of over 240mph/388kph where an F1 car tops out at around 220mph/340kph. This is because a Indycar is tuned to be raced on ovals where top speed is essential.

However, on a normal circuit a Formula 1 car can obliterate an Indycar. It has much more downforce and better handling characteristics to allow it to do this. Because the Indycar has low downforce, to help with its topspeed, it does not have good grip through bends and looses out a lot.

In reference to 'Days of Thunder' this is a film about NASCAR. NASCAR is stock car racing and more popular than Indycar in the states. A NASCAR is a closed wheel car, and is basically and extremely heavily revised version of a road vehicle. In fact it is so heavily revised that it doesn't have a component in common with its road going counterpart. NASCARS usually race on Oval circuits and are quite similar in design principle to Indycars, in that topspeed is the key.

The fastest racing sport is Drag racing, where topfuel cars and funnycars reach over 300mph. But this is not a conventional motorsport. Indycar usually show off by claiming themsleves as the fastest, which they are in terms of topspeed. But around a racing circuit that is not an oval and F1 car is the king by miles. Nothing in faster round a a non oval track, where as an F1 car could cut it with a NASCAR round an oval and get within a few seconds of an Indycar's laptime.

  • IndyCar Racing is I believe the fastest "racing" motorsport. F1 is the so called "pinnacle" of motorsport, as coined by themselves, due to their highly sophisticated cars and machinery. Both IndyCars and F1 cars are open wheeled cars.

The IndyCar Series is a lot like NASCAR, racing mostly on ovals that NASCAR does. To compare an IndyCar and a Formula 1 car as well as a NASCAR stock car check out this link: http://www.indycar.com/tech/specificatio...

F1 cars race on road and street courses, and their championship is I believe similar to the old NASCAR points system where whoever gets the most points wins. You know, whoever's the most consistent is the champ. Their numbers are decided by their ranking in the previous championship. (ie, the champ gets number 1, teammate gets number 2, etc.)

The NHRA Drag Racing series is the world's fastest, with their top dragsters going in speeds of 300+ mph.

In the movie with Tom Cruise, he portrays a NASCAR driver, named Cole Trickle. I really thought the movie was bad, it was a big misrepresentation of the sport.

NASCAR was started in the late 1940's by Brian France Senior, who organized a racing organization with a committee in the Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach. People used to run from the cops during that time running moonshine, but once the ban was lifted, they had nothing to do, but well, race their souped up family sedans against each other. The Daytona International Speedway was built then finished in 1958, then called a "revolution in motorsports." The sport grew in the southeast, but slowly expanded during the 70's through a HUGE boom in the 90's due to the CART/ IndyCar split. Today, 17 of the top 20 attended sports events in the U.S. are NASCAR races.

Wikipedia also is a great place to look, but again, it's wikipedia, so there might be some false info. Also try looking up the official sites, you know, browse history, info, etc..

Here's a tidbit: If F1 cars were to run on a NASCAR oval, they wouldn't nearly go as fast because the cars are designed to go faster in the turns, the tracks are usually fairly flat. Straightline speed isn't as fast as you would think.
  • Who would you like to see win the truck race at nashville?

    May be...

  • Chad Mcumbee
  • Rick Crawford!!

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
  • Any of them! I need some kind of satellite cable or something.

I'm throwing my allegiance towards Randy Moss Racing and have declared myself a Willie Allen fan.

    Willie Allen is my answer.
  • I'd like to see Colin Braun get his first but that seems far fetched with JB on the track lately.
  • Mike Skinner. I don't get to see many truck races so this will be a real treat.
  • Johnny Benson.
  • well, i was hoping scott speed would be in it, but he's not - he was too busy winning yet another arca race that finished about an hour ago. given that, i'd like to see johnny benson get another one, or even see david stremme make a strong run in balew's #15.
  • Colin Braun.
I've been wanting him to win all season long.......

I'd like any of the Roush boys to win though.
  • Matt Crafton!
  • I can't wait until Jack Sprauge finally breaks through and gets his first win for KHI. So for this week I'm pulling for Jack since he looked to have a better truck than Ron in both practices.
  •
