On what lap will be "the big one"?

May be...

  • the last lap
  • Who knows... When it comes right down to it the two most likely scenarios are towards the start of the race, or towards the end.

At the start of the race nobody knows how their car is going to handle by itself. Even if you know how its going to react, what is it going to do in traffic, and what kind of moves will be going on during the beginning of the race? No matter what they say, this race track has a rhythm just like any other... you have to get that established before everyone gets into their comfort zone...

At the end everyone is trying to fight over the same piece of real estate! The track can only hold about 4 wide, but if you go 4 wide in the turns you are asking for trouble. 4 wide at the nice smooth Talladega is ok, but here at Daytona, its too slick, and too bumpy...

I am going to say its on lap 5, or with 5 to go! HA! But who knows... Something could fall off of any car on the track cut down a tire and result in taking out 3/4 of the field! So who knows... but the odds are keeping the big one out of the middle.
  • Lap 140. Towards to end of the race. They will start getting antsy and making their moves.
  • Lap 95
  • It will happen in the last 25.
  • Im going to say lap 153 :)
  • lap 88
  • 151!

    Go Jr.>>>>
  • Either super early or super late, probably less than 32 laps to go, cause its plate racing and they seem to realize, man I need to make a move its getting late. I just hope its not on the last dang lap. BUt if Dale Jr can get the win hey go wild and crazy on that last lap coming to the checkers.. WHOOOO HOOOO (as Steffy would say) Hope she is having a great vacation out on the lake with a cocktail in her hand. Cause Dale Jr is gonna Shine tonight under the lights!!!!!!!

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • I don't know what lap but I just hope that everyone gets out of it without getting hurt. As hot as the track is there will probably be several big ones before the night over ! Happy 4th Everybody !

  • Oh that's easy..simply take the number laps (160) divided by the length of the track (2.5) plus the number of starters (43) minus the average number of cautions (6) read backwards.

The Biggin' will happen on lap 101 coming out of turn 2 due to a tire going down.gma nbcnews com
