Is ''Cup'' racing as boring as some say??....?

May be...

  • i agree that they usually keep focused more on the top ten or fifteen, but recently i feel like they've been spending quite a lot of time looking back at battles for positions in the high teens or even in the twenties. i know that as i'm usually upset that they're not showing what's going on up front with my boy rowdy, and the others i root for who run there most of the time, like junior, burton, stewart, edwards, etc. but if someone is checking out from the field, whoever that has been over the past couple of races, they definitely spend more time than they used to watching battles farther back.

now truck racing, there they definitely work hard at bringing you the action happening all over the track all the time.

    just my opinion.
  • if you delve into the technical aspect of the sport it is never boring. Unfortunately the people who find boredom in a race can't relate to the depth of that aspect and need more visual stimulation to carry their attention between long green flag runs. That's where an experienced announcer is good to listen to. It is never boring to me because that's the only time I devote to sitting around and being a spectator. Sometimes I think "ball games" are boring because it has no technical applications. And as a technician and as a former street racer, I do find ball games slightly immature and boring on an intellectual level. No form is motorsports are ever boring to me.
  • It does get boring(very seldom) watching the same 3 or 4 cars lap after lap when the leader is 5 seconds in front of second place. Thats the good thing about going to one in person if you can, you can watches battles all over the track. The way its going there is not going to be anyone able to afford to go and watch one(at least for me anyways). Dont get me wrong I love all forms of motorsports.

I agree fluffy, some decent announcers would be nice.
  • The TV producers and Nascar want The #88 on TV at all times. Even if he is in 20th running 20 seconds behind the leader. That's the facts. I watch the races every week and every lap except for the commercials. I know that because I'm a diehard fan. I'm not bashing Junior the driver or his fans but that's the way Fox goes about their Nascar broadcast.
  • I think both are possible at times.
The cameras do focus too much on the lead pack all of the time. VERY rarely is the entire field running single file.

But, with the COT, there is less action up front, making the races less exciting.
  • i think the all star race was the most boring race iv seen in awhile i thought everybody was going to get r done and let the rough side drag an beat an bang there way to the lead for 1 mill but no they just sat there like they was scared to make a move like oh man i got dirt on my car now i cant lead
  • I think most of the racing this year has been pretty exciting. You want to see a boring race, watch a replay of the 2000 Daytona 500.
  • Yes they do....Also way too many yellows and stupid comercials with nascar drivers plugging their products..
  • I know what you're talking about. I sat in the Fontana grandstands for several years, and watched 3-4 wide racing all day. (man, I love watching race cars go 3 & 4 wide!!) Then I had to hear how boring Fontana was from people who watched it on TV.

One year I stayed home and watched it on TV, and the only thing they showed was Stewart with a 10 second lead....no wonder people think Fontana is boring! That's why I always tell someone they need to see a race live to be a race fan.
  • It does get a little old watching the same 5 cars throughout the entire race, it should be spread out a little more, the excitement isn't always up front..
  • Snake, I think this is the problem..the announcers forget that there are 43 drivers in the race, we only hear about the big names, and the ones right there up front....The guys on sirius radio are much more interesting, they talk about every single driver, yes the leader gets the most attention bu they do not forget that theres 42 other drivers out there, but then they probably do not have the TV expense to do a race..God I wish for one race they would let the guys on sirius radio call it, its all racing no BS and no digger, just the racing facts..We have so many computers going at my place normally during a race, but I listen to those great guys on MRN & PRN they know how to call a race..Geez they actually talked about Travis Kvavil, Paul Menard, Kenny Schrader, Michael Waltrip, not that these guys are big Cup guys but how much TV time did these get???? But if you ain't out front & a Big name the TV guys could careless..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Or... Do the T.V Producers keep the camera's, WAY !! to focused on the lead pack? I know from experience... you can find 3-4 battles going on,at any one time.. all thru a race !
    Your Thoughts???
