Is it amazing or what that the two closest races in NASCAR history....????

May be...

  • they didnt even get to cross the finish line last night
every body bltch at jr winning under caution whatcha call that
  • Actually in last years July Daytona race Jamie McMurray and Kyle had a closer finish than last nights. Jamie edged him out by .005 and it is tied for the 2nd closest finish in NASCAR history. I'm not sure how close they said last nights was, but if it was where the caution was waved it looked like Kyle was a hoods length ahead of Carl Edwards. But yeah, the Busch bro's hold the top 2 spots for close finishes. They can make a race exciting.
  • That finish was close, but not nearly close enough to be considered the 2nd or 3rd closest. But the 2nd closest DID involve Kyle Busch. Last year's 400 at Daytona, when Jamie Mac beat him. Just like his brother, he was the man in 2nd.
  • have Busch brothers involved??????

Well I am saying the two closest in history though I may be wrong...:
The closest finish in NASCAR history took place at the Darlington Raceway on March 16, 2003, Ricky Craven beat Kurt Busch by a mere .002 seconds. The two drivers actually finished the last stretch of the race with their cars touching!

I didn't get the actual point seconds count but I am sure that last nights Daytona race is a contender for the closest or second closest. Even if Carl, at his classiest, said he felt he was second at the finish line, they had to replay the tape to decide. What do you think??? Will the Craven/Busch race be unsurped by the Busch/Edwards finish???
  • Im not a fan of the bush bros but you are right. The Darlington race the last 4 to 5 laps were the best I have ever seen.
  • bestanswer has it correct - those two busch bros have the closest races in cup series history (the trucks have one or two that were closer - one was 1/1000th of a second difference). the sad part is that in both instances, the busch brothers were on the losing end of the closest races. oh well, they've more than made up for it throughout their careers and will hold those records a long time.
  • I don't think that a close finish when the yellow came out can be considered the same as a close finish when racing to the checker. But the Craven/Busch finish was incredible.

    go Jr.>>>>
