Why there are so many Fords and Chevy in Nascar than there is Dodge and Pontiac?

May be...

  • cuz there is only 2-3 dodge teams and no pontiacs.
  • Because they're the heartbeat of America and built Ford tuff, buddy.
  • Pontiac doesn't race in nascar no more. Fords and Chevy cars are easy to get and cheap for independant owners.
  • Why are there so many Fords?
    no idea

    Chevy's?
    they run well

    no Pontiacs?
GM didn't wanna compete with itself.
    (bummer, lottsa Pontiac fans)

    Not a lot of Dodges?
They're there, just not as much factory support, probably because they were run by Mercedes till about a year ago.
  • As mentioned, Pontiac left because GM only wanted to fund one make. And, there are more Dodges than Fords.

    Fords: 8
    6, 16, 17, 26, 99, 21, 28, 38

    Dodges: 12
    2, 12, 77, 9, 10, 19, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 7
  • Ford has always been out numbered !! And mostly.. out classed !! Ford has been up against either a Super Sport Monte or Impala for quite a few years now !! Our last hope was with the T-bird, back in the 90's !! But... We hold our own
    more or less !!
  • Pontiac exited nascar in 2003, 2 years after dodge came in(2001)

they won the championship with tony stewart in 2002 and bobby labonte in 2000.

Toyota is now the 4th manufacture and is growing in nascar. Chevy and Ford have pretty much dominated the sport since the 80s. They are the 2 top car manufactures in america and in nascar.
  • Is it that the rivalry With Ford and Chevy had made 2 manufactures get so much drivers so which ever car company can get the advantage of winning with the more drivers dring their car.
  • Pontiac went out of the sport the year that dodge came in. Fords and Chevies have been racing in Nascar for years and they are just keeping it up.
Dodge was in Nascar in the 70's but then stopped racing. Came back again in 2001. Dodges haven't run very well for a while now. With the exception of the first two years after it came back and a couple of drivers (Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch), dodges haven't been very competitive race in and race out.
