Would you consider my cousin a bandwagon fan?

May be...

  • I would have called him a bandwagon fan in '03. Now, he's a diehard.
  • As long as they're a fan. If the bandwagon captures new fans, then that's one fine bandwagon.
  • Not if he has stuck with him through now. If he had bailed on him in the 2004 season then yeah he'd be a bandwagon fan. But, to follow and stay loyal for 5 years, not really a bandwagon fan anymore.
  • I think as long as you stay loyal and don't jump ship when your driver is having a dry spell then your all good.
  • Bandwagon fans are classless and worship their driver. Say one bad thing to them about their driver, and they go off.

If he's a good sportsman and can admit his driver isn't perfect, then he's not a bandwagon fan.
  • He may have started out a bandwagon fan, but as long as he doesn't jump ship during his dry spells, he's legit.
  • He became a fan of Ryan Newman in 2003 after he got those 8 or 9 wins but has stuck with him since then even through the long dry spell. This is my last bandwagon oriented question. lol
  • I wouldn't. Jumping on a bandwagon is fine. Everyone has to at one time or another :)
It's the jumping off I hate!
  • Yeah, I guess he was one in '03 and now isn't.

Although, just because you like a guy after he won doesn't mean you're strictly a band wagoner. There is a lot of attention that comes with a win and maybe you hear something you like about the driver that you hadn't known before or whatever when the win generates a lot of press. It happens, and that's not a bad thing.

But if you like them when they win and dump them when they're not as hot on the track, then, yeah, band wagoner.
  • No not at all. He has never jumped ship with Ryan. If he would have started pulling for Kyle Busch all the sudden and forgot about Ryan then yes he would. But right now no he is not.
  • no he is a long time fan since newman has had a rough copule of seasons. if only poles were wins, hed be the best, and people would say all of his fans are bandwagoners
  • Someone new to the sport can come along and start pulling for a driver who's doing well, and that makes them a bandwagon fan/rookie.

Now, if they stay with that driver through thick and thin, they loose both the bandwagon and rookie status. If they jump from driver to driver depending on who's hot, they're a bandwagon lifer.

So to answer your question, your cousin is not a bandwagon fan in my eyes.
