What would NASCAR have done?

May be...

  • They would not have done anything. It is no different than when piece came up off the track and ruined runs at several other tracks. Or when there is a tire failure. It sucks, but that is how racing is.

Besides, the light was property of the track and not NASCAR. So, it wouldn't have been NASCAR's fault.

I'd rather lose due to a poor setup. I'd rather struggle the whole day than run well and have something out of my control take the win away.
  • NASCAR would not have done anything to make up for it. Ask Jeff Gordon. They didn't do anything to help him when the track came up and tore his car up.
  • They would have just said sorry (maybe) and said is a racing thing.

I would rather lose due to a bad car then someones screwup
  • they are probably all black, black black black, black ppl, you just wrote on my question that i shouldnt write that ppl are black and i should say ppl are african american, well let me tell you something im black and i dont like to be called african american i find it offensive because i know ppl only say it to be politacally correct,

i never even been to africa how am i african american????? im american american, and no black person i know cares if they are called black but most would consider you a outsider for saying african american, get out sometime and meet some BLACK ppl were not so scary or ignorant as ppl think we are, well some of us are pretty ignorant
  • If that light had landed on a car... if it damaged a car bad enough would they get the back up car inspected real fast and let them use with no penalties... would they just let it be... what would have happened?

and would you rather lose a race because of your spotter, because of your pit crew, because of equipment malfunctions, because of a wreck, because of a rookie mistake, or because your car just wasn't good enough?
  • They would've done nothing. They'd move on. That's how it works in NASCAR.
  • I would rather loose a race like Carl Edwards did this spring at Atlanta & last year at Richmond. I would rather blow up while leading by 2+ seconds over 2nd place. At least you're going out in style, while literally smoking the field :)

As far as what NASCAR would have done, nothing. Remember a few years ago when a driver had NASCAR & TV equipment inside the car, catch fire? NASCAR didn't do anything then & they won't do anything now.
  • no the driver would pit and the crew would fix it
  • I don't think they would have done anything. I remember when Jeff Gordon hit a patch in the track (too may brain cells gone because I can't remember the track) and a big chunk of asphalt flew up and damaged his car. He wasn't given aby special consideration or time to fix the car.

But that light would have really messed up a car if someone had hit it!

I liked what one of the announcers said: Yellow caused by the yellow.

I suppose I would rather lose due to a wreck but only after bumping and banging down the front stretch after the final turn, heading for the checkers!
  • The pit crew would just have to try and fix the damage, if possible. However, I am sure that both the track and NASCAR will double and triple check all of the fixtures that hang over the track before the next race.
