It works strictly on owner's points from my understanding.If that is the case(unless they have some kind of asterisk we haven't seen yet),then KaseyKahne and Elliott should still be able to race as they are both within the top 6 inDodge teams right now.Although,I think it would be a little unfair because then you would have 8 Toyotas,4 Dodges,and 6 each for Chevy and Ford.As far as the owner's point thing goes,there are a lot of drivers that will be left out.Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman won't be in it because they are changing to teams that are not within that range of owner's points,Clint Bowyer will be with a new team and will not be in the shootout,Casey Mears will be,and Joey Logano and David Stremme will also benefit from Tony and Ryan starting a new team.Right now,the top 6 teams would be:
Chevy:
1.Jimmie Johnson
2.Jeff Burton
3.Clint Bowyer(Casey Mears will actually be the one in the shootout,not Bowyer because of the car change)
4.Kevin Harvick
5.Jeff Gordon
6.Dale Earnhardt,Jr.
Ford:
1.Greg Biffle
2.Carl Edwards
3.Matt Kenseth
4.David Ragan
5.Jamie McMurray
6.Travis Kvapil
Toyota:
1.Tony Stewart(will not race;Logano will)

Good question I assume it would not affect it but I have not read or heard anything that would jeoperdize another team due to a manufacture change

If a team switches manufacturer in the off season which GEM was thinking about doing, what does that do to your eligibility?

I think it will eliminate them. As the rules are the top 6 of a manufacturer.transfer cell phone numbers to computer
