The numbers belong to the teams. When a driver leaves a team he drives the car belonging to the new team. The car in which he drives in his new team has it's own number that is retained by it's owner. Otherwise they have to buy the number, and they can only have four anyway.

My guess is the number stays. It's worth more for Menard to get a different number and sell more diecasts because of a new number than it is to keep that number..

If she would'nt let the 8 go for Jr, she sure as hell isn't going to let the 15 go for Menard(besides Mikey did a lot better in the 15 than Menard did anyway).

I'm surprised no one has made a big deal out of this, like they did the 8. Personally, I think the number should stay with DEI, as I tend to think of Mikey Waltrip more with the 15 than Paul Menard.
