How can daytona(ISC) have the gatorade(pepsi) 150 and coke zreo 400?

May be...

  • Those two races happen six month apart for one. And for two sponsorship dollars can make anything happen most of the time. A few years ago the cola wars did heat up though. Coke sponsored six different cars for the Pepsi 400 to try to get one of their cars into victory lane. The winner was Jeff Gordon in the only Pepsi car out there, lol.
  • the france family can do anything they want. and in this economy i don't think they care who the sponsorship dollars are coming from.
  • The sponsors of these races are sponsoring the races, not the track.

    ZREO??? lol!!!
I know what you meant anyway.
  • ISC is owned by the France family, which owns NASCAR. They can pretty much have anything they darn well please. : )
  • NASCAR, and ISC are basically two different organizations, run by the same people.. ISC owns the race tracks, and it's a publicly traded corporation (NYSE), and the France family holds the majority of stock, as well as Roger Penske..That's who decides who's money they will take for what kind of sponsorship for the tracks.. ISC owns Daytona chooses Pepsi..
NASCAR is a sanctioning body, that's the guys that make, and enforce the rules of racing, and is not publicly traded, and entirely owned by the France family..
These people aren't stupid, so the sanctioning body (NASCAR), sells Coke Zero the right to name a race (must compete) so Pepsi is the "official soft drink of Daytona" as it's been since the first time I was there in 71, and Coke Zero buys the right to name the race (that used to be named the Pepsi 400) as the "official soft drink of NASCAR"..keeper read sister
