Why don't Formula1 cars have a reverse gear?

May be...

  • don't need one, simple as
  • because the makers are more over concentrate on forward speed gears system and not on the backward
in simple car we always wanna drive from city roads and park in city so always we wanna reverse gear for parking
  • nosir. their is a cart from which they can turn or tow.
  • space and weight....keep it lighter and faster.
  • i'm guessing F1 cars dont really need to go backwards and thats the only time they need to is the pits but the crew do that and theres not much point in having reverse. unless then spin off but they can retreat that anyways by spin the car again to get it in the direction.
  • They do have reverse, teams always push a car into the pit box due to the cars having poor steering lock and safety.
  • They do, Massa and Alonso used it last year in Singapore practice session when both went wide, but they took awfully long time to find it while Kimi Raikkonen couldn't find it at all and they had to push him around so he can get back to track so It is really really hard and steering the car into the garage should be harder so it is easier for the team to push it and in process attach those weird things on it.how to become a mortgage broker
