Nascar Trivia! Can you name the first rookie 500 pole sitter?

May be...

  • I know that Jimmie Johnson did it in 2002 in the #48 car sponsored by Lowe's but I am guessing it was somebody else. I'm looking for it right now.
edit: AHA, it was Loy Allen, Jr in 1994. He was a rookie then, in the #19 Hooters car owned by Tri-Star Motorsports. Bobby Hamilton was probably the most well known of all the drivers in the relatively short time this team was around from 1989-1996.
    4's FINE N 09!!!!
  • loy Allen j.r. was hired for Tri-Star's #19 Hooters Ford in 1994. He won the pole position for the season-opening Daytona 500(the first rookie to ever do so) and finishing 22nd.
  • very complicated question. Hmmm....
  • jimmie johnson, #48 lowe's chevy, 2002
  • jimmie jonshon I SAW HIM WIN THE POLE 2002
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Since my guess for this year's pole (in another question) is Scott Speed I thought I would ask this question. Do you know who the first rookie pole sitter for the Daytona 500 was? What year did it happen?
What car #/Sponsor/Team?? Good luck and have fun with it!bianchi rossi spring break
