Nascar Trivia question #2---Do you know who this driver is?

May be...

  • driver harry gant
    sponsor skoal bandit
    Nickname handsome harry
    2nd sponsor Mac tools
    Hometown taylorsville North carolina
  • I got my start driving an Oldsmobile in the Busch series tuned by a "baby fox???" We won several events...even our rig driver was good let's just say he got lots of free training. We were always contenders for the championship. Since youth I had a desire to be a Winston Cup driver....and finally got my shot when a very "handsome" driver retired.
I made out like a bandit with my first contract. But unfortunately success that this team had seen before did not come my way. I was let go after a few years....I always knew green just wasn't my color.
After being let go I loved watching cartoons for the 10 races left in the season. My new ride the next year was a "snap" to get....the black cat looked great on one my early uniforms. We nearly won the first "orange" race but I came up short finishing 2nd. After being released again I gave up on Cup...and won my first race ever in a different series. Now I am completely out of NASCAR....but I do enjoy
talking about the good ol days and eating hot dogs in my home town.
Do you know who I am? Best answer goes to the person who can answer the most "clues".....good luck and have fun with it!!!
  • I believe it is Rick Mast.
Rick Mast took over the Skoal "Bandit" car (hence the bandit clue) when Harry Gant retired. The number changed to 1.
I believe Harry Gant was called "Handsome Harry" but I'm not positive on that one.
The loved watching cartoons car is when he drove the #9 Cartoon Network car: this car

The black cat reference he was sponsored by Jasper which was a purple car with a black jaguar on it.
The first orange race I assume means the innagural Tropicanna 400 at Chicagoland in 2001. Tropicana being a popular (and yummy) brand of orange juice.
He resides in Virginia. So the reference must be to Martinsville hot dogs.
  • Robert Pressley-----In 1995, Pressley took over for the retired Harry Gant in the #33 car

"Opened Celebrity's Hotdogs in Asheville, N.C
