Nascar and saving money with new rules and bs?

May be...

  • From someone, me, that has been following Nascar all of my life, i'm 40, I can honestly say you have no idea what your talking about!!!!!!!!!
  • NASCAR is corproate(sp), no doubt about it. it has gotten completely away from its roots. Gone are the days in which small one and two car teams could win, and i know alot of yall think thats not true now that everthing is so cookie cutter, but think about this.. the races are not "impound" races which means no workin on the car after qualifing, so now the small teams have to set the car for qualifing just to get in and then hope that they get a chance during the race to adjust the car to be competitive. Also, now since the car has to meet so many inspections, the crew cheif and driver and others can no longer tweak and adjust the cars and use creativity and smarts to make their cars competitive which is what the small teams used to rely on to be competitive. now to win races u must have the money to get an engine package that wont break and creats enought hp, which is why the small team are having to combine and the large teams keep adding cars... call me crazy but as much as i love NASCAR, this recision might be just what the sport needs to take it back to its basics
  • smaller teams cannot handle the burdens that the bigger teams can as for the fans, the ticket prices are falling as well, we are all hard hit right now and your bellyaching is just another reminder that most are in the same boat, nascar is a great diversion from the day to day grind
  • Are you kidding me? If they can pay the last place finisher in the Daytona 500 $250,000, then I think they are full crap and anyone else that believes them is too. Nascar has plenty of money and I'm so sick of hearing about this and that in regards in saving money. I love NASCAR but enough is enough. That last place finisher at daytona made more in that 380 mile race than I have in my entire lifetime but Nascar needs to save money? So my question is do you think this sport will grow or diminish into a big soap opera and do you think nascar really needs to save money with all these ridiculous rules?
  • 43rd spot for 36 races is 3.5 mill. I think.

Edit<--> I don't think $250,000 is a lot ! That will not pay the bills for 1 week.
  • I don't even know where to begin with this one. Nascar purses are in no way out of line with other major sports. The purses reflect what the market will support. Nascar is immensely popular and thus brings in huge revenues and thus the payouts are large. Even though, yes last place at Daytona is what I make in many hard years, that's just the way it is. The only thing you can do about is to not watch. Don't buy tickets and don't give them your TV viewership. . As far as cost cutting for the teams, thats a whole different discussion. Nascar has to, like all racing bodies including F1 right now, make racing affordable for the teams. Otherwise, spending would spiral out of control.

You don't know much about business or simple supply and demand principles if you think athletes are overpaid. Everyone makes what they're worth, period. The fans or lack thereof and what they're willing to spend in attention and money determines revenues which in turn determines what these athletes are "worth". I don't understand your complaint.
  • Its not nascar that needs to save money its the teams that do. yeah $250,000 is alot of money but that's Owner's take there share then the Drivers. then the crew all the guys at the shops and ever week teams have to pay a fee for entering races and it ain't cheap traveling back and fourth to tracks then back to the shop building race cars paying for gas and food when u travel. So after taking all the money out for that i bet there isn't alot left really. but like i said its not nascar saying they need to save money there saying the teams need to.
  • As of the end of last season, the cost of a race week end, bringing two cars to the track was $168,000.. Plus the driver.. That doesn't include damage to the car...
NASCAR itself is far from broke, as it has little more than salaries to maintain..
The sanctioning body (NASCAR), provides assistance to teams in need by helping to find sponsors, investors, and kicking in to help teams keep going when needed, very often acting as an agent, or broker for teams that are struggling to find cash..
Edit: A set of tires cost over $1,600, and fuel is four times what you pay..
As far as "overpaid" when it comes to racing, the athletes in this particular sport, don't always get to go home after the race.. So as far as I'm concerned none could be guilty of that offense..
  • Jr rocks what are you saying ?????
  • What about baseball players that ride the bench all season and make an average of over 2 million bucks!!! At least a guy finishing last in "Super Bowl" of NASCAR was "out there" and made the race!

I figured I was wasting breath with you..........you are obviously just another troll hating in here. Why do you come in here anyway?? Clueless, you are truly clueless

Real NASCAR fans.................Another troll to ignore.abbotsford chamber
